not sure he knows what he is teaching. DO NOT TAKE HIM take serydinski instead STAY CLEAR kind of **** in my book if you take him you will find out.
How can one teacher make you go from loving math to hating math in one semester. If you want to do that take him!!!!!
Seltzer is fast paced. For those who have had little background in math, it is quite difficult to follow along. I would not recommend Seltzer if you do not have a strong background in math. His teaching is boarderline, and when he realizes that the class is lagging behind he does not care!
He was tough but fair. He explained the information well, and was willing to help students that needed it. Mr. Seltzer was always respectful and had agreat since of humor. I would definately take his class again. The students who failed deserved to fail.
He helped me to like math.
He is one of the best instructors that I have ever had. He takes time to help students and does not make me feel stupid when I ask questions in class like other professors. I would recommend him to anyone that wants to LEARN math and not just get a grade undeserved.
Mr. Seltzer is a great instructor. Before taking his class, the last time I had passed a math class was in the 9th grade. I currently have a 95% average in Seltzer's class. Seltzer makes math much easier to understand. He can be a little tough, but he is fair and very clear and straightforward.
he is a very good teacher. i had him in high school. even when i run into him on campus he is still a good person. he cares what happens, and how his students learn. he treis his hardest and puts in all his effort toward the students.
Mr. Seltzer moved through the material way too fast and was almost annoyed if you asked him to review anything. Half of the class dropped out and many of the others were close to failing. Even if you're good at math I would not take him because of how aggravated you'll get in there.
good teacher. wont let you leave the class till you get it right. is willing to help students. do the homework even though he doesnt collect it.
A generally cheery person. He is helpful to most people who seek assistance. The class is pretty easy if you study and pay attention. Asks end of class question. Those who get it right leave early.
He so hard. don't get him there are three people left in his class
Teaches a soild class. Explains well. Tells a lot of jokes for a fun class but, want slow down for you to answer questions.Very strict about taries ,on break in long3 hr classes will add things to test he swore want be covered. Not for a busy person. Fine fo average student
HE IS VERY HELPFUL AS LONG AS YOU SHOW AN EFFORT HE IS WILLING TO HELP. HE MAKES THE WORK SEEM SO EASY. HE EXPLAINS EVERYTING CLEARLY. BEST MATH TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD.
Extremely fast pace instructor.the good thing is, his tests are fair. one of them he let us do the test in teams. as far as the teaching he is very fast and skips a lot of steps assuming you are an expert already. he rushes you if you need extra help.he offers, but hopes you dont take him up on it. and you better have a TI-83 or you will be lost.

he teaches at mock3, if like a very fast teacher he is for you. He still acts like he is teaching high school kids, and you better go to the rest room before class, if you leave durring class he assumes you have a family emergency and doesn't want you to return to class.

Firm but fair. Expects students to follow directions and put forth 100% effort. Willing to help you if you have put in the effort. Tests cover material covered in class plus some of previously covered material. Class is easier f it is only one taken. Do the homework and you should get a good grade.

He is the best teacher I have ever had, he is very easy to understand, and takes a lot of time to make sure that you understand everything. He even helped me after class, and insisted that I not leave until I got a hold on the concept. I highly recommend him.
Treats adult students very elementary.Suprised you didnt have to have a restroom pass to leave. Extremely unhelpful when it comes to answering questions or listening to class.Cut class short several times but couldnt find time to help students. He also anounces grading in front of the class.I passd with a B but had to drop 2 other classes to do it.
Taught us all like we were in elementary school. Did not even really teach. Expected you to know everything with out him even going over it. Dropped out because he was not very understanding.
I was very interested in this topic to begin with (College Algebra), and this instructor killed my enthusiasm. Does not respect his audience. Is in his own world to the detriment of the learning process. I wasted my time and money, wish I had known before I did so.
This instructor scolds mature adult classroom as if they are lazy 12-year-olds. Needs a reality check on how to talk to grown people. Teaching process is chaotic and inconsistent too, which does not bode well with mature students.
Only willing to help on his Time. Goes really fast and doesn't take time to ensure students understand everything. His test are a joke. Many students agree.
Disrespects his audience. Does not answer questions completly. If you struggle in math DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. He shows you math problems but dont explain.
he piles works up on you, is never willing to help you in class, skips over steps of a problem and grade you only on test. Goes on to the next chapter regardless the class knows it or not. when you need help he always says" well what don't you understand?" and says " find a tutor or go read your book." Especcailly when he knows you don't understand
Mr. Seltzer is very nice. He can be alittle confusing and unclear on things from time to time. But he will help you during office hours anytime. Ive been there plenty of times pissed because I still didnt understand. It helps alot better when he works one on one with students. You just have to make the time.
He is a very hard teacher to grasp and moves over the material very quickly. If you have a good sense of knowledge in the course then you will do fine but for those looking for a large amount of help. Its best to look somewhere else.
Does not know how to interact with mature adults. Verbal interchanges from him tend to be childish, flippant and not conducive to learning. Would be better suited for instructing a court-ordered boot camp for troubled 12-year-olds, in which his scolding and overall put-downs of class and/or individuals might better fit.
Terrible instructor. Does not present information clearly, and makes no concessions to make himself available if you dont understand. Sarcastic, does not care if you get the info or not. Poor attitude. New instructor- needs a couple of years and adult interaction classes. Do not take this class!
He's not clear at all, and he goes way to fast. He gives practice test that are very similar to the real tests, but he marks stuipd stuff off on the tests.
Moves way too fast through the book...does not explain fully step by step...His Buddy Professor Washington is a much better teacher
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!Unless you are very good at math.I ended up dropping his class because I didn't understand any of his lectures. He goes over the material very fast and he is very unclear on the way he teaches.
DO not take this teacher, he very very unorganized and unclear. Do Not take this course for this teacher, he horrible teacher.
He is a good guy dont get me wrong but if you are not good in Math I suggest getting another Professor.
Professor Seltzer is a good guy. He's willing to stay after class to help his students. He can be a little unclear sometimes, but he is always willing to futher explain if nessecary.
i thought the class was pretty easy long as you do the homework on coursecompass because all of his test problems came from that.two of his test he gave in advance so when it's time to take the real test you will do good the last test we took in groups but this summer term was the first time he used a different method as far as teaching and book
really cool guy. Sometime he teachs to fasts and puts you on the spot and you can only really pass his class if u do his homework, witch u don't get graded for, but other then that he is a really cool guy.
He is the worst instructor ever. Take him if you are a glutton for punishment. He insults his students and doesn't teach. He uses pre-recorded instructors to teach, and the volume is too low!! If I would have known how heavily he depends on MathZone to teach, I would have saved the gas and taken an online course.
Great professor! The class was somewhat difficult, however, Mr. Seltzer explained things in very helpful ways. The major drawback of the class was the MathZone program he has you do your homework with. It was a convoluted mess and would sometimes forget your assignments.

If your a math wiz & like doing math on your own and on the computer then this is class is for you. If you struggle or have the least bit of dificulty then find someone else - Nice man outside of classroom, in class NOT a grand teacher. Treats older adults as kids, I was not impressed. One of the main reasons I withdrew & went elsewhere.
the worst teacher ive had yet. always late to class. talks down to us like we are stupid. gives alot of quizes and never helps with problems that we get wrong. we are middle semester and i only know of 2 people in the class that are passing, out of about 25..i would NOT take this teacher, and Iam going to have to take this class again..
This professor relies solely on Mymathlab. If you want an online class then go to him. Did not know how to get the answer on occasion either. When we were going over a test he actually could not get the answer given by the test generator and had to use a students paper to find it.
Prof. Seltzer is by far not my favorite teacher he is late to class just about everyday. I took him for physical science and it was ok. He basically gives you questions from every chapter. These questions are on each exam. The final project was a report on evolution/creation. The class is not to difficult if you study the chapter handouts.
this professor is horrible
He is okay if you attend class and pay attention. do the homework and show up and you will do fine...
This professor is horrible as an educator. If I had known about his teaching style, I would have never taken his class. He is rude and does not fully explain steps in math problems. This is truly a class for students who already have a pretty good knowledge of algebra. Stay away from this professor.
For you all with negative comments Prof. Seizer may work at a fast pace, however, he is their to give help for those whose wish to seek it. Prof. Seizer is a great professor and this is college not high school, pay attention and you will reach your goal. Sometimes it may take a second try to gasp at things. However, GOOD LUCK! TO YOU ALL!
He is the first algebra teacher that has made sense out of it for me
does not explain work or care about helping
He is a terriable teacher! If I didn't have prior knowledge about how to do some of the work I probably would have failed. He goes extremely fast, treats us like idiots, and he does not take time to help his students. Don't take his class!!!
Good teacher, must have the drive to succeed. This is not a class for people who are unmotivated! To excel at Math, you must study at home, you will not learn from him through osmosis! If you study you will do fine. Show an effort to learn and he will help. This professor is for highly motivated students looking for a challenge! I took 2 terms!
As a person, Prof. Seltzer may be a great guy, but teaching should not be his profession. He needs to work in a career that doesn't involve communicating with other human beings. He is rude, unprofessional, and not helpful at all. I understand completely why he is only teaching college prep classes and not college level...I would only reccommend th
In the begining of the class the very first day he expacted all the work for the next 4.5 chapters to be done plus the online work. I understood the work but the way he made the test he made it very hard to pass and even hard to make it to the final test of our class of 20 something only a 3-4 made it to the final and they made it by one point.
Not Helpful at all. He will cover info. to fast.
I dont even know where to start, I do not recommend this teacher to anyone. I'm not a math wiz and I do need help. This teacher was not helpful, not nice, thinks hes better than everyone. Always putting people down. He will break your spirt. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
Works college professor i have ever had, most of the class work was done online. Prof. Seltzer was constanly 15 or 20 min. late but openly mocked students who needed to leave class early.
It didn't seem like he had an overall game plan for this class. He would show up not knowing what we did in the previous class. One good thing I can say is that he teaches directly from the book and the tests use the questions from the test bank. Not Recommended, even though I passed the class.
If you miss any classes, it is hard to catch up but this isn't high school. He isn't a babysitter, he is a professor. As long as you are in the classroom, he will help you as much as he can. If it takes too long, he will ask you to see him during office hours. As long as you are not high maintenance, I would recommend that you take his class.
he gives soooo much homework! and the tests are rediculous. i wouldnt recommend him to full time students or anyone who has a hard time with math. he'll seem nice at first and maybe even helpful. then he gets arrogant. i felt intimidated to ask questions and he goes too fast.
Professor Seltzer is very rude, and really enjoys belittling his students. He will slow down reluctantly if he thinks enough people aren't getting it. He is hard to get used to, but he is very straight forward in his methods and all n all the class was somewhat challenging. i liked the online learning more than i did going to class.
all the other negative reviews just about sum up everything ive dealt with.
Professor Seltzer is not a good teacher to take if you do not understand math. However, if you do decide to take his class, be prepared to do a lot of homework and you will have to study a lot as well. He isn't very clear and seems almost annoyed if students ask questions. Do not take his class unless you enjoy math.
If you enjoy learning from slide shows and can learn on your own, then this is the teacher for you. He couldn't explain many of the problems on the board when we asked.
He is agood instructor. You have to do the homework in order to pass his tests. He is fair and knowledgeable.
He is fun and fair. I will take him again in the fall.
Very good professor
Rude, does not help, moves way to fast, and definitely could care less if you get the math. The class was filled with people even standing. By the end of the semester there were only about 10 people. Staw far away from this professor. He enjoys to fail!
i know people are giving him bad reviews, but he actually is a really good teacher. im not the type to sit back even though we do not get something. so basically as long as you ask questions, do the hw assignment (very important), and pay good attention in class you'll pass the tests. then obviously you'll pass the class
Prof. Seltzer is an excellent teacher. The class was definitely challenging, but the end result was that I had a much clearer understanding of Algebra. Anything in life worth having is worth working for! doing the homework + asking questions + coming to class = Passing
Rude when it comes to a student answering a question wrong he makes fun of the answered. Which begins to make student feel uncomforatable. Also moves to fast goes over the material once and moves on leaving the computer to do all the work very lazy
Worst. Professor. Ever. I paid $150 for ONE book and we opened it once! He made us teach ourselves and made fun of our answers if they were wrong and sat there while we taught ourselves on aleks.
"doing the homework + asking questions + coming to class = Passing"? Did the homework + asked the questions + came to class= STILL FAILED. I'm willing to take responsibility for my shortcomings as a math student, but he was lazy, uninterested, and uninvolved. We did most of our learning online while he did next to nothing. Shouldn't be teaching.
DO NOT TAKE SELTZER! I was in his class ONE day & shouldn't have stayed that long! he was very late to class, didn't have enough seats for everyone, & disorganized. showed no respect for students & was horribly arrogant; belittled those who answered incorrectly. I agree with the person who said he shouldn't have a job interacting with people!
Nothing to say useless instuctor doesnt deserve his position Will humiliate you and degrade you as a person Does sneaky things and TRYS to fail you
Homework. Do that b/c tests are ripped right off it. The HW is rarely over 20 questions and there's only 15 or so the whole semester -if you can handle that you'll do fine. Dont know about previous posts but I had a 100% HW avg (unlimited retries -not that its needed) and breezed thru tests. Class HW avg was 50%; hmmmm why did so many fail???
This was the worst teacher I have had so far. I have to agree with all the posting of him being arrogant. He started out pretty nice but by the end of the semester he was a complete jerk. He doesnt have any respect for others. Likes to use powerpoint instead showing how to do the problems. I DONT RECOMMEND HIM FOR ANYONE....
I am not only passing the class, but i have an A. That said I do not feel that this man is a good teacher.he uses power points he has not read and you basically have to teach yourself. His nonverbal communication is often offensive. Overall comes across arrogent and rude. If I was not already good at math I would have stuggled.I do NOT recomend.
I considered this an easy class. I did learn the material covered in high school, so maybe that's why, but Mr. Setlzer is pretty laid back and there to help you should you need it. The textbook is a must for this class. He says attendance is mandatory, but nothing happens if miss class. I thought he was a pretty good teacher.
Very helpful professor, stays after class if you have additional questions. He loves teaching Algebra and it shows in his enthusiasm for the material. However, goes over the powerpoint presentations which are available online. If you do the homework (which is pretty fun) you will learn all the material since he pulls the tests right from it.
This professor is a horrible teacher. He comes to class unprepared and he talks down to students treating them as a child. While in his class his communication skills were poor, if you ask him a question about the subject, the answer is most likely going to be to see him after class. He left our class unattended frequently.
If u r a math or engineer major, avoid this prof at all costs. He in unorganized, rude, and arrogant. I have taken all the calc classes and I can honestly say that if you take him, u will learn nothing. He never comes to class prepared, leaves early, and assigns problem he himself hasn't done. If you wish to learn math,I recommend someone else.
This is probably one of the worst teachers I have ever had. If you are the type of student who can teach themselves the work then you may do well in the class. He is very rude and arrogant. He talks to his class like they are in middle school. He is never prepared and his tests are bogus. He puts problems on there that haven't been covered.
Professor Seltzer is a great professor IF you know what you need to do to succeed in class. If you do the homework, take notes, ask questions, and prove you have will and are worthy of respect, Seltzer will take a liking to you. I took him for both Calc and Stats (struggled through, calc, passed with B), and I recommend taking him.
I have never failed a class until i became a student for Mr. Seltzer. He understands the material well, but speeds through chapters very quickly. Never mind having a teacher student understanding because he's not interested at all. His test makes absolutely no sense and your entire grade is based off them.
Seltzer knows his math. he books quickly through the material so there's room for questions. the homework is online, with solutions. if you struggle with math, he keeps office hours. I've taken two classes: both A's. no, he doesn't hand you a passing grade; you have to earn it. welcome to real life.
Do not take if you do not have basic knowledge of subject before hand. i took him for col. alg. over summer for 7 weeks. all hw/quizzes online. they are very helpful. do them and you will get an A. material isn't easy, but he is a thorough teacher. he is VERY strict with absences!
This was a 7 week course and it goes by FAST! Do not take this course if you do not have a good understanding and fundamentals. There are 4 tests and a final exam, the final exam score replaces the lowest test score and homework is counted as a test grade. DO YOUR HW and attendance is a must! Also, pay attention to wording on tests!
If you're not a fast learner in math then DO NOT take this class. He goes by fast with material and when you try to ask a question he just respond back with him saying " how come you con't know this." or he'll tell you to meet him in his office. He isn't very helpful but the online work is.
just don't.
He moves very fast and pretty much reads from the book. The only thing that really helped me were the examples he wrote on the board. I copied them and taught myself later, along with many tutoring hours.
Prof will teach at a fast pace. Goes by his lecture notes more than book. Must do online hmwork. Very minimal use of T83-84 calc, Must self teach in order to complete tests. Worth it to Stay til end of semester, he will be very generous in grading. If you have a D, you can pull it up to a B for final grade =)
He is very demeaning when you ask a question, and isn't afraid to embarrass you in front of everybody.
Oh my goodness, I absolutely love him. Super funny and I actually enjoy going to class. He is really open to questions during class but if you really don't get it you have to go to his office. 4 tests, mymathlab homework is a test grade, & final. Easy if you do the work. Tests are sometimes open book or take home! ALWAYS BRING YOUR BOOK!
I highly recommend him ! I normally struggle in math and This class was such a blessing ! Buy the book , Do your online homework and dont miss class (or you will be lost in the next class ) ! It is so worth it to take his class :)
VERY fast paced class. I would say 90% of the students in class were lost the entire semester. It's as if he expects you to already know the material that he is teaching you. I'm naturally good at math and I still will probably get a C. This is my 3rd year in college and he has been my worst professor plain and simple. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
He gets bad reviews just because he doesn't play around. He's there to teach, so if you're there to learn and do the work, you'll get a good grade. He explains exactly what is on the tests and there's always extra credit. If you take him just do the homework and show up.
He goes extremely fast and doesn't answer students questions clearly or at all. He definitely knows his math but he should not be teaching. He is unclear with what will be on the tests and doesn't do enough examples, most of the time just reading from a powerpoint.
YouTube will be your best friend. A degree in a particular field or subject does not qualify everyone to teach or instruct. Organization, respect for those you serve, structure and above average communication skills are typical. In his words, this is my class and I teach it they way I want. He speaks to college students on a middle school level.
Mr. Seltzer is definitely not messing around, but then again neither should we! We are all in college, not elementary school. He is very straight forward, he tells you how to do well in his class and gives you the resources to do it. This is my second class with him and if you don't miss class, do the homework, passing should not be hard!
As a math whiz, I can honestly say this was the most difficult professorteacher I've ever had. His communication skills during lectures are horrible, and I do not understand how someone can learn math from a PowerPoint. The homework made more sense than he did. Unless you can be tutored by someone else, don't take this professor.
Have taken him for all my math courses. Very tough grader but always gives you a fighting chance to get that A or B. He'll always give you a "break" on at least one test. (ie. take home, open book...) Horrible at teaching or giving out help. Must study on your own!!!
Only five exams and Homework. Attendance is not necessary but would show up to learn. Does not teach like he wants you to learn. You have to teach yourself. Grades really tough until the end of the semester then gives you an easy test grade. I have taken him with all my math classes and he does the same thing.
Even with homework and online tools, if you are not well versed in math you will not pass. Very uninterested in his job. Answers questions when he wants to and how he wants to(doesnt always answer your specific question) Tests count for 65% of grade and Final counts for 20% of Grade.. Should have dropped the class...
If you want to pass this class, you better go to class. He will give you a pretest before every test and if you use this as a study guide you will pass. Homework is opened at the beginning of the study block and you have until the test to do it. He is very helpful if you ask for the help. His attempt at being funny comes out wrong sometimes though
Easy going professor. Really didn't come much to class, only taught for power points from MathXL. Just do work from the program and you'll be fine. Can really do everything online. Easy to talk to and allowed time for make-up work. I'm not sure if I would recommend, but not a bad option.
Before Cost Accounting, this class was the most challenging course I've ever taken. You ask "why do we need business calculus"? Trust me, if you're an ACG major, you will be thankful you had this class. You teach yourself. Took him Fall '14. Connect ACG is what we used for HW. Must have the book. You EARN your grade. TOUGH class but possible!!
He took the entire class to the bookstore on our first day to be sure we bought/ordered the books from the college. Not only was it a waste of time but when several students pointed out that rentals/online ordering was more budget friendly, he was dismissive. I personally had a difficult time scheduling a meeting and this was my ONLY class.
He is an easy teacher but I would not recommend him as the best math teacher. He reads off the PowerPoint and gives few examples. All of his homework are online and this is a easy hundred. If you get an A then a B on a test, you are able to take the previous test again. There is always 10 extra credit points on his test.
Easy A. For those who aren't worried about math. If you're planning on being a math major, do not take Prof. Seltzer. If you're just looking for a credit I highly suggest this class. I thought statistics was just an easy math, then i saw what my friends were doing in their Stat classes. I think we only went over a fraction of the material.
Professor Seltzer's lectures are very fast-paced. He expects you to understand things on the first try. He also does not go into detail explaining concepts. There is a lot of homework and tests. If your skip class, you will get behind.
Ignore any negative reviews on Seltzer. If you don't come to class, don't do your homework, and expect him to take your tests for you. You will not like him. He treats college students like college students and kids like kids. He will move test dates around, but if you keep up with your homework you'll be fine.
This Professor was very educated from what I could see, he just did not present the information in a way that we could learn. This was a full semester course and he treated it as if it was accelerated. The amount of homework given was so much to the point that I felt like I needed to drop my other three classes just to pass his. When you went to hi
This professor can be very rude...!
Very educated professor in the subject. This class was very hard though due to the small amount of time to get all information. He often gives chances to help your grade like take home tests or changing a test date to help study more. The class was rally hard because his tests are very different from the homework. There are 4 test, final, & HW avg
He doesn't go by the syllabus. The syllabus would say we have another week before the test and last minute he would change it to the next class. He says you have two chances to retake tests and then he would change his mind and be like no. Everything is online. He will help if you ask questions but he does short powerpoint lessons which are online
Prof. Seltzer was the absolute worst professor I have ever had. He had horrible communication with the class, cancelled twice without any notice. He didn't lecture much, sometimes we would show up for class and he told us we could leave when our homework was done. If you HAVE to take him, visit the math tutors, they teach better than he does.
This professor is very unorganized , final grade was a b but the grade he posted was a c. He was always late to his own class.
Prof Seltzer just reads from the power point. He says homework isn't to be done in class but lets us do homework in class for an hour and a half. Do yourself a favor and not choose this professor.
Prof. Seltzer is a great professor. He does not give you anything. If you are expecting that, this is not for you. Study, go to class, pay attention and ask questions when you don't understand. He answers questions and do all he can to keep you on track. Good luck!!
Mr. Seltzer is a very fast paced professor. If you have difficulty understanding it is your responsibility to go back over the material. Always remember little things he mentions because it will matter at the end of the course. If you can't work at a fast pace, this class isn't for you.
This professor is rude. He won't let you slide anything. He will even take points off on the test for not using a pencil. His class is very fast paced and he just goes through the power points. Not very good explaining the material.
Does not care about his students. Graded on 6 exams at 100 points each. Fail two and you're done. Does not stick to the syllabus. WILL MOVE TESTS FORWARD WITHOUT NOTICE!!!!!
Mr. Seltzer was amazing! I was so worried about passing stats with at least a C but with him I am passing with an A. As long as you show up, do the homework, and ask questions you'll be fine. Stats is still challenging but he is really there to help you and gives a lot of chances for extra studying and tutoring before exams. Nice and hilarious guy!
Never In my history of schooling have I had the displeasure of taking this "teacher's" class, PRACTICE TESTS ARE WEIGHTED which that alone should give you about 30 red flags as to why not to take him.
Prof Seltzer was funny and helpful. It is still a good idea to read over new chapters before he goes over them because he can move fast. His style is to go over the general concepts, then slow down to point out key details or clarify things. do h.w. and be ready with questions. The assignments and due dates are very clear.
Mr. Seltzers class was great. He taught everything needed to pass. As long as you show up, pay attention and do the work, you'll be fine.
Professor Lee is very informative on the subject being taught. He will go into detail to make sure you understand it. All the PowerPoints online will help with the homework and make the class so much easier. Would definitely take any of his classes if I need to in the future.
Would not recommend at all! Test was due Dec 2nd, he just moved it to Nov 24 (today is the 18th). Did it with all the other tests too. Not good with time management, we are way ahead of schedule. Actually.. forget the given schedule because he does not care about it. Lectures are intense so if one class is missed you're way behind.
Great teacher! First time I actually enjoyed a math class. As long as you join the classes and listen youll be sure to pass. Statistics was hard but he explained everything very simple and understandable. Hes also hilarious! Great personality and caring teacher. Homework is more difficult than tests and prepares you well. Thank you!
Professor Seltzer was a great professor. If you didnt understand something he would help you until you would get it. Homework was all online and you had about 3 weeks to do it. I took his 7 week class and I loved that he let you work at your own pace. Great professor.
Okay let me start with I hate word problems, I don't even like riddles lol. He is beyond amazing, super funny, and it is really an easy class. The homework is way harder than the test. Just take great notes during class. (I wrote out each HW problem too). I know that a lot of work but guess what it made my test super easy.
lectures but most homework is done online which is how your graded but if you struggle i suggest you show up to get the lecture becuase they really help
You really need to be on top of both your online coursework and coming in for lectures. It's easy to get behind if you procrastinate. He'll help you work through problems from your homework that you get stuck on and gives pretty clear lectures. I had one take home test and the others were in class.
Absolutely horrible teacher. Makes you feel stupid for having learning disabilities. Told all of us that homework was due on the last day of class but then if we didn't do it before a test then we got lectured and told we weren't going to pass the class. Emailed multiple times asking for help on homework and was told I needed tutoring instead
His homework assignments are 15ish assignments due around 30-40 questions. Some assignments go as far as 60 questions each. Some days when we got to class he didn't teach us. Another day he left the classroom. A few students including myself left to go to tutoring because we went to class that day to learn and saw him laughing with other teachers.
Seltzer clearly does not care about his students. He is very much a "the ball is in your court, do with it what you will," and doesn't give any allowances for life events out of one's control.
Professor Selzter was amazing 10/10 would take again. He explains pretty fast but if you don't understand he would stay after class to explain it to you. There's lots of homework but they teach you a lot that he didn't review over class. Great professor.
I really liked Professor Seltzer as a person. He's funny and kind, and when he's in the mood to teach, he's amazing. However, he was moody and a lot of times we would enter the class and sit in silence while he messed with his computer for the first 30 min. Be prepared to work to understand on your own, if you're not self motivated you won't pass.
Professor Seltzer is engaging but can be moody. The course requires self-motivation - lectures are hit or miss, so be prepared to learn on your own. unstuck study and the free textbook were lifesavers for exam prep.
It was purely through pearson math. The tests and quizzes only accessible through lockdown browser (no cam) that won't work unless you have a computer that has software updated enough to access it. It was spread out; there were about 4-5 lessons spread out over 3 1/2 months. He's not bad but he's not great either, I never even talked to the guy.
I thought the class was decent, the professor always answered my emails in a timely manner and he always encouraged. the homework is heavy for sure but he gives you plenty of time to do it and he will send you reminders to get it done as the time comes close for the due date. The tests and exams are in the lockdown browser.
I wish I had a math teacher like him when I went to Raines high school. All assignments are on Pearson . I'm going to take him again online this time I'll make time to learn this …. You can actually use this math on the job if you can get through the formulas.
Taking this professor is like walking on eggshells, you never know what mood he will be in. You walk into his class and sit in silence while he works on his computer for the first 30mins. He teaches directly off of the Pearson textbooks that he admits don't make any sense sometimes. I do not recommend him for anybody who struggles with math!
Professor Seltzer is a stern but fair teacher. He will go into depth on curriculum that you are struggling with and skip what the class knows already. His first class always vets out the unserious. If you try your best he will work to make sure you pass.
I took Professor Lee Seltzer online and expected teaching materials from HIM. But instead, what I got was some random professor from another college's MAT 1033 course. This was like a more exaggerated version of Sophia Learning with a ton of work; the worst thing was that I took this class by accident, thinking it was College Algebra.
He isn't a terrible professor at all considering I took him twice, but trying to contact him while being an online student is genuinely terrible. He also takes a really long time to put in grades, almost 4 weeks of waiting to the point where it had to be taken to student records. Easy class though? It's based on mostly tests and exams.
He is very rude
I highly recommend you run and find another professor if you picked him.
