She's really hard and unhelpful.
Makes things confusing, humiliates students.
worst teacher i have ever had. she makes you feel dumb and its so hard to understand what she wants you to do. Make sure not to ****her off.
Don't ask alot of questions or she'll get annoyed. But she explains what she wants from you and she's pretty clear in her explainations of the material. Don't get stressed, it not only you that she acts like a BI to. Just do the work and you'll be fine.
This professor is willing to take the time to work with you if you ask for help.
She is a very rude person. She makes the students feel inferior and will often humiliate people in front of the class. She gets very annoyed if you ask her a question she feels you should know. Easy class, but not an enjoyable one.
DON'T ASK QUESTIONS!!! She will bite your head off if you ask a question. This is very unfortunate for a Spanish class because most of the time students ask a lot of questions. If you put a lot of effort into the class, then you will get a lot out of it
She speaks spanish most of the time. She cares about the homework assigned. She is willing to help students if asked.
she cares about the students. however, she is somewhat difficult. you have to memorize about 20 words each test and read spanish literature. overall a decent teacher
horrible teacher.
she's good but if you don't get her personality you wont like the class, she is just sarcastic! don't take things personally. go to class and engage yourself and you will succeed!!!
hard tests and hard grader. Moody teacher
Excellent teacher but it's true, shes a little scary when you ask her questions. Shes a really nice lady though if you talk to her about other things. Definitely take her class she is an excellent spanish teacher! Although she speaks completely in spanish
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever taken. Don't expect to have your questions answered, she will bit your head off just for asking. The only way I passed is because of extra credit. If you want to learn spanish I would stay away from this teacher.
You will know by the first week if you are going to pass or fail. She decides the first week if she loves you or hates you and she only loves a handfull of students. She made this class a horrible experience. She makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Good Luck with this woman.
I love Professora Bingham. She may scare you sometimes but she is an excellent teacher. I had never taken a spanish class and now I want to major in Spanish.
She is one of the worst teachers I've ever had. Whatever you do don't ask her questions, be late to class or talk while she is talking, she will kill you. She picks her favorite students within the first 2 weeks, if she doesn't like you then she wont give you an A. Stay away if you actually want to learn spanish.
good professor, can be hard at times.Study the the rules very well and you should be fine. Can have mood swings so watch out!!
She's an idiot. Lot's of work but not hard really, and she speaks horrible Spanish and she's very unclear. Stay on her good side if you're unfortunate and have to enroll in this class.
DONT TAKE HER IF YER NOT TRYIN 2 DO HELLA WORK.
She's not that bad! Yes, you have a quiz every class but she offers tons and tons of extra credit. She can make you feel kind of stupid when you ask questions but she's an ok teacher. I thought it was an easy A.
C'mon you guys, you make her seem so horrible. Difficult yes, Horrible no! After all, you are learning a foreign language, not how to color. She does have daily quizzes, but that can be good or bad, depending on you. Do the extra credit early, as you WILL need it later. I did ok, but my friend did her work, studied a little and got like a 101%
This is college. If you want to really LEARN a language, some work will be involved. Prof. B is on her game, she is organized and diligent - and if you are a student who is earnestly trying to learn Spanish, I highly recommend her class. Do your homework, study, and don't take things personally.
She is not easy but if you keep up with the work and participate in class its pretty easy to get an A. Shes a little scary when you approach her but she really does want her students to succeed and is helpful. I've taken 2 of her classes and would take more if she offered them. Take her class to actually learn spanish. No "easy A's" here!
Daily quizes required. She offers substancial amounts of extra credit which is nice. Really not that dificult of a class and you will learn spanish! Would definately reccomend taking her as long as you stay on top of your studies.
I actually started the class intimidated by the fact we had to take quizzes every day, but in the end it turned out to be an extremely effective learning tool (and substitute for homework). I DO reccomend her, because although its not easy in the sense that you can fly by without trying, you will know more spanish and learn it effeciently.
This class is set up for you to pass. All you have to do is the assignments which are all online. The daily quiz questions come straight from the online work. I have never taken a language class that was this easy to pass.
Professor Bingham's middle name is "Extra Credit". The class is truly set up to pass with a good grade. The class is very interactive and never boring. Do the online assignments because all of her quizzes and tests are directly from them. I learned a lot in her class and thankful for it. :)
If you want to enjoy your experience with spanish do not take her! I mean it! She picks her favorites within the first week and can make you feel like a complete idiot when you ask questions. And I am an A student
she is so condescending and unapproachable, it's not even funny!
She is great, she has a bit of a stiff personality at times. In the end I learned a lot! I would highly recommend her, she is tough and yes there are quizzes everyday but it's well worth it in the end. Lots of group work and I was never bored!
Amazing teacher! She's fun, passionate, and gives tons of extra credits! Quizzes every class, but they are very helpful and prepare you for the examines. I'll definitely take 102 with her:)
I hadn't taken Spanish in several years when I found out I needed Spanish 3 for SDSU. It wasn't so hard. There are quizzes every day but the info is taken from the online work. Look it over and the quizzes are easy. If I can get an A, anyone can. Just put in a little effort. She is a good professor, quit being such snotty brats and do some work.
VERY GOOD! There is a quiz every class, but they are almost exactly like the online exercises and are pretty easy. Drops one test and quiz. Some EC. What can I say? I recomend. Make sure you do well on the final though, if you want to keep your A; it's worth a lot, but it is multiple choice. I would take her again.
One of the best teachers at Mesa, especially for spanish. Crystal clear directions, and help when needed. Do your work and you cant fail. Sense of humor to help you get through the smester
Drop this class if she's your teacher and add another Spanish class while there's still time to add! Or take somebody else next semester! Hands down worst Spanish teacher EVER!She doesn't even have an authentic Spanish accent, and she will not answer questions in class, just try to make you look stupid. Many tedious 'journal' assignments ad nauseum.
I don't know why some people are rating Profe Bingham badly. I took her for SPAN 301 at Mesa and she was great! I live near Miramar and drove all the way down there for her. She does give quizzes everyday, but they aren't worth very much so if you do poorly on one it's no big deal. More points in the pot if you ask me is a good thing. She makes cla
At first she seems a little mean, but once you keep going she gets a lot nicer. There are quizess mostly everyday but they are the exact same as what you do online. I would definitely take her again if I wasn't moving. She is very organized and makes the syllabus very clear. It is a lot of busy work, but I learned spanish :)
I am not sure she would pass her own exams. Her Spanish is the worst. And her moods swing up and down. No bueno.
Don't take her class--ever! Take Rascon instead. You have been warned.
She use to be the head dept of spanish, therefore she is very tough when it comes to grading. She is anal about everything. I wouldn't suggest her if u want to just pass the class. Shes rude at times n expect u to know your own questions. Her teaching all that great, you gotta teach yourself on your own. Shes tough.
Great professor. Helps with any questions. Is available for office hours if you need help with anything.
Quizzes are easy but the tests are really tricky. Spanish "Nazi" on the writing portion. Really good teacher but she ridicules you when you ask a question. She gives you that "your an idiot" stare so just study off QUIA. Overall Great teacher! TAKE HER!
Prof. Bingham knows her Spanish. If you are looking for a well-structured class with a great professor then she is your gal!Quizzes are QUIA based, test material is covered during class. I HIGHLY recommend Prof. Bingham.
She's a good instructor but not the best, take Berry. The written part of the test can be tough because it has to be to her interpretation and yours. Once you've found her interpretation style, stick with it.
Taking a Spanish class from a non native Spanish speaker completely negated any hope of speaking with proper accent and diction. When you ask questions, she belittles you with a stare and a "well that's the way it is" explanation with zero reasoning behind it. The class itself wasn't tough, just don't miss class because she WILL drop you.
I recomend that you don't take her. She is nice when she wants to be but her moods are not consistent. A few time she embarassed me in class and she is rude to students. If you ask questions just be prepared to be given grief for it. The class isn't that hard but she's pretty horrible. :/
Her class is pretty straight-forward. She goes by her syllabus exactly the way she wrote it. Majority of the HW is done online through Quia. Quiz ?s come frm Quia. She's OK but she can be really mean & embarrass u. I was actually scared to ask her ?s to avoid being humiliated. She treats the students as if we were stupid so beware!
I just finished my first 2 weeks in this class & I decided on checking to see if any prior students noticed what I have noticed already- and it is confirmed that Professor Bingham is a rude teacher! I have never seen such attitude and negativity come from a teacher when a student makes a mistake on an assign. or asks questions.
Very hard teacher.. after failing B's class (by 1%), I took it again, comparing the two teachers was night and day. Bingham was the hardest Spanish teacher out of the 3 semesters I took, and she doesn't even speak spanish! Expect more literature and way harder tests. Good luck!
she's very straight forward. you can drop two quizzes and an exam. on top of that she gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit that can be redeemed on exams (up to 5 points = half a grade). her exams are straight from lecture. if you show respect, she will do the same. very understanding & remembers your name after semester ends. sit in front
I don't think her reviews do her justice. Although she can be a little snappy if you don't understand something right away, don't let it bother you. She followed her syllabus word for word which was helpful, offers additional help, and tests on what she teaches in class. I liked her overall and learned a lot. (:
shes good--seems more into people learning what she wants to teach than the language in general, but its easy if you just follow what she teaches--all the questions on the tests are gone over in class beforehand--she always sends progress report emails right after each test so you always know youre grade--she always gives extra credit opportunities
Amazing does not even begin to describe Professor Bingham! She is amazing beyond words. Her class is not easy, but she does everything in her power for her students to learn. She will not pass you, but she will give you all the tools and explinations you need to pass. Class is outlined very well and expectations are known from the beginning.
Professor Bingham was condesending whenever asked a question. It seemed to me like she couldn't believe that I wasn't automatically understanding the concepts she was teaching and she couldn't understand why I was asking questions and she genuinely seemed offended when asked a question. She's nice but not an effective teacher. I don't recommend her
GREAT teacher!! Harder class but expectations are clear and concise from the beginning--follows her syllabus to a T. Being a non-native speaker has absolutely nothing to do with it; she is a great professor who knows her material!! Offers extra credit as well as office hours. Attendance is a must. Highly recommended!
The only thing I don't like about her class is that she is condescending towards students who ask questions. She encourages us to speak up and ask about what we are unclear on but when we do she acts like they are the dumbest questions in the world. She is very consistent, however, and is a very good teacher! She provides lots of extra credit too!
As someone who was completely in love with the Spanish language before this class, I can honestly say that Bingham is the worst Spanish Prof I've had personally. On top of being condescending towards her students, she teaches Spanish in a very formulaic way, not conducive at all to learning the nuances and beauty of a language. Don't take her.
I'm very surprised with some of the comments being left about Professor Bingham. I took her for 102 and she was wonderful. Everyone in the class loved her. She had many fun and creative activities planned in each class. She was very friendly. I will definitely be taking her for for 205.
Good professor. She is very kind to her students, especially when they listen, and pay attention when the information is provided during her examples. She wants Spanish to be fun, but wants the students to learn just the same. There are a lot of partnered and oral communication exercises given each day, with plenty of opportunities for extra cred.
I think her method of teaching is great. I learned a lot.
She was an ok professor, but I took her during the summer so I wouldn't know how she was during fall and spring
The lectures are very helpful. She makes you understand spanish with out translating it. You will learn how to speak and reply to people. Translaations just comes naturally along the way. Gives plenty extra credit and easy points. Put a little effort in and you will do just fine.
She is very knowledgable at her subject, though can sometimes make you feel stupid when you do not understand something. She does a good job at taking different approaches on how to teach to try and make it fun. I had a tough time with this class, but if you have a prior background in spanish it will be easier for you. Good grading scale also!
Leela was a great professor for Spanish! I learned so much in one semester than I ever did in 3 years of high school. Her different approaches make learning Spanish fun, and she is always available if you need help. Definitely take her class!
Professor Bingam is very smart and helps foster a good atmosphere of class participation. She uses a variety of mediums in which to teach from. There are alot of test and they can be pretty difficult. If you ask her a question, she will make you feel really dumb and wont try and explain the concept differently. Overall a pretty decent professor
Best Spanish teacher I've ever had. I learned so much. She can make you feel dumb for asking questions, but that really is just her personality. She makes Spanish fun and she's a really amazing grader. If the whole class did poorly on something, she realizes it was probably due to her teaching and she will give everyone another chance. She's great.
She really is a great professor and makes it easy to understand the concept... my memory just sucks lol but yeah, try not to miss as you'll miss daily points and quizzes. She does offer extra credit. I would take her again
Great teacher! She's clear and straightforward with what she expects. She doesn't give any surprises and encourages questions many times. If you put in effort (like any class) you'll get an A.
She's a great teacher in that she's organized, a good lecturer and knows what she's doing. Her class is somewhat difficult but I think that's just because it is the course content not her teaching. She is very fair when it comes to grading and testing. Overall I would recommend taking her course!
Prof. Bingham was a saving grace to have as a final Spanish teacher. Grades according to your skill level, and that fact alone saved me, makes the material interesting with small group work, and offers extra credit throughout the semester. Punks be warned, she returns the respect she receives. Regardless, she genuinely cared about her charges.
Extremely kind and helpful. She puts tremdous amounts of effort into preparing the class for every assignment. Direct and to the point but helpful.
I love Mrs. Bingham. I took her for spanish 1 & 3. She is hilarious, fun and creative. she gives lots of extra credit n the work she makes simple to understand. LOL but don't ask a dumb question becuz she will look at you weird just like i would, which is why i loved her most. i thought it was hilarious. don't go to class high. duh.
She's very committed to teaching her students. It's a hard class, made harder with the book material. I prefer Vistas to Arriba. She does seem condescending , it's true, but I don't think she's being mean. I guess it's a personality thing; you like it or you don't. Don't take it personally. Do the HW!! Attend, pay attention, participate. Study!!
She is knowledgeable on her matierals however her way of teaching didnt click with me. Spanish has been easy for me however her class was hard because of the way she teaches. Its hard to ask her question because she gives you attitude and is mean about it. No one ask her anything, including myself because shell make you feel stupid.
Professor Bingham is not the teacher you want to take for Spanish. She is very rude and makes you feel stupid when you try to ask questions. It makes students not want to participate in class. Asking questions is a part of learning and her constant rude and non-helpful attitude makes class horrible. Look at the other reviews, don't take Bingham.
She gives online HW the night before exams, if that tells you anything. She could care less if you learn Spanish. Most of the class you're in small group talking to classmates, not learning from her. All comments about her being condescending are accurate - she creates an environment not conducive to engaging her students. Take as a last resort.
She's overall not helpful and seems jaded just teaching. Most of the class you'll just be doing some sentence structure/grammar on small sheets amongst your peers. She gives condescending looks when you ask a question and even worse when answer incorrectly. She doesn't thoroughly go through the material, I suggest tutoring every day for sure.
I learned a lot from her class though. Do the extra credit and online HW because it will boost your semester grade for sure. She does create a class environment where students are afraid of asking questions. It is entertaining though to see her response to some of the questions asked.
On the vocab section of a test, we were to write a word from our list to correspond w/ the description in esp, but the description had a word never covered in class. After getting the test back another student and I asked "What's this word mean", she said "Guess", and walked away. She shouldn't be a tutor let alone a professor. Worst.
I'm gonna tell my kids she is Ms. Turnbull from Matilda. Tons of work not to learn the language. She gets annoyed/rude if you ask her to reiterate a rule that she has introduced only once - you'd be better off taking an online Spanish. If you're a student that needs engagement with the professor to learn a concept, dont take.
Worst teacher i've ever had in my entire life. Dosen't care if you have a question she just barks back at everyone rudely. You try to ask a question, trying to learn, and she will look at you like you are stupid and that you should know everything she knows. Dont take ever if you want to actually enjoy learning spanish. look at other reviews, fact
Straight trash. You'd learn Spanish better online. She teaches rules, not how to speak Spanish, and the gringo accent - not how Latinos actually speak. Condescending on top of that- the epitome of a "mean teacher". Don't take.
I actually liked her. She speaks mainly in Spanish, which I enjoyed. There's homework almost every day, but it's online and easy to complete pretty quickly. Her lectures were actually enjoyable, and made it relatively easy to understand. She can be a little demeaning though, and not very constructive in terms of criticism which is my only downside.
Bruh. Exposes you to a new concept, really at the bare min., then never addresses it again. You dont do that with Math, let alone language. Never reviews Spanish 1 or 2 material to make the connection. If you ask about it she'll condescend you to never ask a question again. She does speak mostly in Spanish but its in this ridiculous gringo accent.
Just know, you will hate your life for four months if you take her Spanish class. Absolutely atrocious, period. Avoid at all costs.
Very kind and caring! Spoke mainly in Spanish so it helps to know the basics. Plenty of homework weekly but it all correlated to the quizzes and weren't tough they were mainly helpful practice. quiz every week but she gives you all you need to know. her lectures are directly correlated with the quizzes so pay attention and be ready to participate.
Had a great time with this professor. Saw bad reviews coming from the same guy below, so I feel the need to point him out. 99% sure he was the guy she embarrassed during class about asking questions she already went over and he got triggered from not paying attention. He is the only one saying she has a "gringo accent" or whatever. Disrespectful
