Fecher is an interesting man. He's super nice and helpful in both lecture and lab! Take him!!!
Love this guy. He is hilarious, and very quirky. The exact opposite of boring, and much better than Eddie in my opinion. Attending the lectures isn't mandatory but that's where the notes come from which are key. He is always there to help too. The tests are easy too, I got my first college 100 in that class, actually. One of my favorite teachers.
Take this class! Fecher makes it fun and interesting, and makes the lecture go by pretty fast.
Overall, the class wasn't really that difficult. As long as you read the text, the tests are very easy and straightforward. The speeches were graded harshly and it was difficult to make an A on any of them. Fecher did a good job of getting the material across in the lecture.
This dude is my favorite professor I've had at Clemson by far. Super funny and makes Comm way more interesting than it should be. If you're fine with speaking in front of people you'll have no problem getting an A. He gives feedback that's very constructive and helps you better yourself.
Leland is the man! He is so funny and makes lectures entertaining. I never felt annoyed to be going to class because he always kept things interesting! Definitely take this class, he rocks!
Leland definitely keeps class interesting considering the material can be dull and commonsense. Although he sometimes goes off onto rabbit trails, for most of the class he moves through the material systematically. Everything is easy to understand and be prepared to stay for the full class time.
Fecher is great! He keeps his lectures entertaining even though the material is boring. There are only two tests, the midterm and final, but they are only on the vocabulary in the text. Other than the vocabulary you don't need to read. Definitely recommend!
Professor Leland is very entertaining to listen to, however I found that a lot of what was taught in class was more broad ideas on the test because the test was very vocabulary based. By knowing the broad ideas and just memorizing the vocab from the book (not even reading), I did fine.
LOVE LELAND. Take him if you can - he's incredible. Super nice and young and spunky. Favorite professor at Clemson. He wants his lectures to be interesting because he knows they're long, but they're also very useful. You don't have to read if you take notes in lecture. His tests are all vocab. Very straightforward!
I am amazed at how he can take an introductory comm class and make it interesting! I really enjoy going to his lectures, he makes something extremely boring as funny and interesting as it can get. The tests aren't hard, just learn the vocab and pay at least half attention in lectures and you are good!
Lecture was extremely easy; he was pretty picky in lab though for speeches. As long as you follow the instructions exactly, you'll be okay.
Take Leland if you can!! I always enjoy going to lecture because he makes it interesting. Really awkward and funny, and has good relatable stories that go along with the material.
His lectures drag a little bit but overall the class is an easy A if you show up and take notes. 10/10 would recommend to a friend or co-worker.
Leland is super funny and weird, which keep the lectures interesting. Definitely recommend him. Exams aren't hard as long as you do the reading.
Leland makes sure the lectures stay interesting since they tend to be long. Take him for this course if you can! The exams aren't difficult at all. Make sure you study the vocabulary a lot more and that makes taking the exams much easier. Leland is super understanding and is willing to work with you if you're having difficulty.
Leland is super awesome! He makes a comm lecture entertaining. He uses great stories and is hilarious in class! You can tell he actually cares about his students.
This was an insanely easy class, just use quizlet and you should get an A. His lectures are great and he makes them funny but we never get out early. The tests are all multiple choice from the book. I skipped a few classes towards the end but he takes attendance so save your free skips for exam season.
Dr. Fecher is amazing! He made his lectures, which were on a topic that most people don't find interesting, into a lot of fun. He made jokes a lot, and he was super easy to talk to. The material is easy to understand. You will definitely pass if you know the vocab, and you can get that from the margins of the book chapters before the two exams.
Fecher was a really cool and funny guy! His lectures were pretty interesting and he was relatable and easy to talk to. Speeches aren't too bad as long as you follow the rubric. He's very reachable outside of class and is willing to help out with whatever you need.
Leland is a very good professor. He makes his lectures super entertaining and cares about his students. If you show up and study for the tests then you will get an A, easy. I would definitely recommend him as a professor.
Great teacher and lecturer. VERY hard grader. Other professors have teacher assistants grading their labs/speeches. Leland does both the lab and lecture. Speeches are graded way too harshly. Very difficult to get an A in his class. If you want an A take someone else.
He shares a lot of funny stories during lecture and I always look forward to going to his class
Leland is super funny and laid back. He is very clear about what's expected to be on the exams and has no problem getting all the information across in the allotted amount of lectures, TA's handle lab and speeches, and even grading the multiple choice exams so his literal only job is lecturing, which he does outstandingly.
Prof. Fecher is an engaging professor. Easy lectures to listen to. Make sure you read over the textbook before the exams as the exams are much more based on that ridiculously expensive textbook than the class is.
Leland is a great professor. His tests are easy as long as you study the vocabulary in the book
He's an awesome lecturer and I really enjoyed each class. He cares about his students and is really enthusiastic about the subject. Really easy to make an A.
This class was actually not bad to wake up to in the morning. He made it so that I was not falling asleep in an 8 am lecture and was super engaging. If you put in just a little effort into studying for the test and show up to class, it is an easy A.
He makes the lectures super interesting and relatable. The tests were straight out of the book... I was fine just learning the vocab for tests.
Leland is such a great professor! The tests come straight from the notes so if you read the book and study a little, you will do fine! One of my favorite professors!
Leland is amazing! I was able to pass all exams by just studying vocabulary from the textbook. He takes attendance everyday so you have to show up, but he has amazing lectures and makes class engaging so showing up isn't a burden. Funny stories and a great sense of humor to make class go by fast!
Super funny! Super easy class, but the lectures could get a little boring. Attendance is mandatory and you don't need to buy the textbook. Would definitely take another class from him.
Loved this class!! Had it as an 8am and it wasn't even bad because his lectures are interesting and he is really funny. I studied only by learning all the vocab in the book and it was easy to get an A this way. Definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Leland's awesome!! He makes the lectures relatable and funny and his tests aren't too bad.
Was expecting this to be an annoying gen ed but Leland is hilarious and makes the class as interesting and engaging as an entry level comm class can be. Most of the grades are from the lab portion and exams are very straightforward
By far my favorite professor here at Clemson. I have his 8am and I hate getting up to go (because attendance is mandatory), but he always wakes me up and is so funny! As long as you know all the vocab, you will get an A. One of the easier classes I have taken and would definitely take it again. Do good in lab though, it's a HUGE part of your grade.
Love this professor. Very engaging and comical. If you put in an ounce of effort you will definitely do well in the class. The tests, just vocab which you can find online or in the textbook. Highly recommend.
Lectures are not mandatory but he does take attendance. It doesn't hurt to go and get all the notes, his lectures are very well done anyway. He is engaging and makes a seemingly boring subject become interesting and relevant.
I loved having Professor Fecher, he made my 9am worth it. The information is not particularly interesting, but he made it interesting. The tests are super easy; the night before the test, I would use quizlet to learn the vocab for whatever chapters we were on, and I got As on all my tests. He actually likes his job and it shows.
Fecher made what could have been an incredibly boring class really interesting. Since most of the grade came from the speech part, the lecture tests were pretty easy. You'd be fine to miss a couple classes, but I never wanted to.
Professor Leland was amazing! I had his class at 9 AM, and he was always full of energy. He makes the information really interesting and keeps the class engaged the whole time. He is an amazing lecturer, and his tests were easy to pass. I took notes during class and studied them the night before the exam and I finished with an A in the class.
He made this class very fun and interesting. All I did was take notes in class and very rarely read over them. You do bot need a textbook all you need are the quizlets with the vocabulary words for each chapter. Very easy A
Great professor, he is an incredible lecturer that makes you want to listen. Tests are straight vocab from his lectures/the book so very straightforward. Definitely would recommend taking his class!
Leland is the best professor at Clemson. He makes his lectures very entertaining so it's easy to follow along. If you skim over your notes before the test you can get an A. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
Leland is the best!!! Take him if you can. He's so funny and entertaining-- I enjoyed going to his lectures. I never even had to read the book because his lectures were so comprehensive. As long as you know and understand the vocab and concepts, you should get As on his tests.
Imagine making "Intro to Communication" one of the least boring classes at Clemson. Leland is a top tier professor and when you do your COMM requirement, DEFINITELY take Leland: he's funny, down to Earth, and an easy A.
Literal best professor I have had. Super fun and easy. It is mostly common sense but just pay attention to notes on slides of read the bold words in the margins of the textbook. He makes a boring class fun.
Fun Comm Professor would take again.
The only reason I showed up to class is because Leland is so funny, interesting to listen to, and energetic. I imagine that this man rehearses his stories in the mirror each morning before coming to class.
Such an engaging class! Fecher makes the lectures so fun and engaging and covers everything you need to know in them. You take a five question reading quiz every week and a final at the end of the semester but it's super easy! I 10/10 recommend if you want to have a good laugh and get an easy A in COMM1500!
Absolutely amazing professor and makes the lectures super interesting and exiting. Really engages with students and makes the experience very fun for such a boring class. Such an easy class and you definitely dont need the book. One of my favorite professors just because hes such a great teacher and such a fun guy.
He is a real gem! So much fun and made me want to listen to him! Super easy as well and you hear a lot of great stories! The TA for the lab was Tanisha Tak and she was amazing as well! Overall a good gen ed class!
This class was a breeze with Fecher. He was very funny and made the lectures interesting, even though you didnt have to go to them (online zoom). Easy A if you use the textbook for the quizzes and do good on your speeches.
Professor Fecher is amazing! This semester (Fall 2020), the final exam was able to be exempted, leaving the lecture grade determined only based on quizzes and participation which made it pretty impossible not to get an A in his class. Although his class is extremely easy, Professor Fecher is so passionate about comm and a sweet guy!
Lectures can drag on, but the quizzes are self explanatory. Overall, he is a great professor who tries to keep lectures fun and exciting.
Great professor. Hes young so he tries to be very relatable. Great sense of humor so it makes the class fun. Easy lectures and straight forward homework. 10/10 recommend taking. Easy A but also informative
Fecher was by far my favorite professor last semester, and I wish I could have taken him in person! He is super fun and relatable, and he cares tons about his students. You really don't need to go to class to get an A, but I highly recommend it because of how great of a teacher he is! The quizzes were a breeze, and there were no exams!
Easy class. Super funny and makes class fun. Easy A on the weekly quizzes and exams.
Easy A, I think I went to class twice. Midterm and final were open note. Super nice and funny guy he's great
Amazing professor, no homework, and so easy to get an A. Definitely would take this class with him.
Leland is a really great professor! His lectures are so interesting that it makes you want to go to class. Attendance is required (you can miss two without penalty) but honestly I never found myself wanting to skip. Tests are taken at home and do not require lock down browser. As far as the textbook goes, its up to you. My notes cover enough.
actually the funniest person i've ever met; loved this class. was super easy, and he made it interesting as well. literal king
He's a funny guy, and he makes lectures interesting! I could see how the textbook would be helpful because he says the tests are based on it, but I never got it and I have an A. Definitely recommend.
Fecher is the best professor at Clemson. He knows how to keep students interested and he is really funny. You never know what he'll do in class but likes to make a scene. Go to class even if it's at 8, you honestly don't want to miss it.
Leeland is hilarious!!! His lectures are actually interesting- he tries to make them relatable and funny and I genuinely enjoyed going to his class. I would 100% recommend taking him for comm.
Dr. Fecher is a very animated and passionate professor. His lectures were never boring and his tests were simple. I used the book and went to class regularly, although neither were exactly mandatory, and did exceptionally well. I would highly recommend Dr. Fecher.
Leland was by far my favorite professor this semester. He's super chill and makes his lectures really funny and interesting. Tests are pretty straightforward and not difficult at all. Would definitely recommend!
Very easy class with easy exams. One of my favorite professors because he was funny and even though the content taught in this class is not the most interesting, his lectures were always great and entertaining.
8 AMs with Leland were enjoyable. His lectures are simple, yet he is able to keep you attentive. You don't need to attend his lectures, although he does assign attendance codes for discussion posts so just make a friend in the class! Buying the textbook isn't necessary unless you want to read. Exams were MC, not cumulative, and short. Never had HW.
Very helpful, interesting lectures, understanding of student needs
Leland is an amazing person and professor, he is understanding and has really great content. Lots of students take advantage of his chill teaching style but the content is actually very helpful and really gets you to think. Loved this class, and the exams are easy.
Really entertaining lectures. The class is huge so you don't really get to know him, but he seems super nice and funny. There isn't any homework for the lecture its all based off of the tests which are super easy
I loved Professor Fecher! He was super enthusiastic and it was an easy class. No homework, I would suggest not even buying the book as he covers everything in the power points in class. Attendance was an online code so make sure you have a friend in the class. Tests were super easy as well- make sure you have him as a professor!!!!
Leland was a great professor. Super funny guy that had a story to go with everything. His class goes with the lab so it's pretty easy. Only 3 tests and they are really easy. Just show up and you get credit. Great professor.
He is so funny, fun to be around and makes the class interesting and lively. For all his speeches you are given a rubric and if you follow the rubric exactly you will get a good grade. I 100% recommend. He is very understanding when things come up in your personal life. The final and the midterm were also open note!
Loved Professor Fecher! So funny and made an 8am worth going to. The speeches were somewhat difficult for me but if you spend time on them youll be fine!
Professor Leland is a must take. His lectures are really interesting and his class is pretty easy. It was a nice break from my other classes. I learned to be a better public speaker from his class.
Definitely take Leland's comm class if you can. His lectures are entertaining and the exams are not hard. Also 1500 is definitely easier than 2500 from what I've heard!!
Professor Leland is so easy and very funny. He keeps students entertained during his lectures. The homework is done on your own time and is self-explanatory. Midterm and Final are done on your own time outside of class and are open note. The easiest A+ ever.
He was really chill and attendance was just a discussion board. Did not have to study a lot, pretty easy class and he is a good professor.
Great professor! He makes lecture enjoyable and he really seems to care about the content and the students. The exams are online and open note. Questions come straight from the textbook so as long as you know what chapter a question is coming from you should have no problem making an A. Highly recommend!
His class was not only interesting and funny but super easy! This was a great class and I learned a lot but also didn't have to devote much time to his lectures and never studied for either exam- midterm or final, and still managed an A on both!
I took COMM 1500 as a gen ed class and I did not mind it at all. Professor Fecher made his lectures interesting, engaging, and funny. The homework is online and very doable, and there are two exams, a midterm and a final, both of which are open-book and multiple choice.
Leland is an amazing choice for COMM 1500! His 8 am lecture was very manageable as he made things interesting. Attendance is taken via inputting a phrase in a discussion board (if that tells you anything) since the class is so large and the midterm and final are both very easy and basically guaranteed a high A on both. Take him for 1500 if you can.
Very fun lectures. Homework is minimal and tests are easy. Would highly recommend.
He is the BEST. Easy weekly TopHat readings and exams are at home open book. I had him at 8am but usually went b/c he was so fun and his class was a joy. He was so understanding about ppl who were nervous about public speaking. Attendance was taken thru Canvas word of day but I had more absences than allowed and was never penalized.
Leland makes a gen ed class incredibly fun for everyone no matter what major you are. He makes the material relatable and the only thing he asks of you outside of class is to read a chapter or two a week and answer some questions, for a completion grade. Exams are open note, open for an entire day, and not on lockdown.
Take professor Fecher you will not regret it for one second.
Professor Fecher was great and I could not recommend him enough! Makes introductory Comm lectures about as interesting as they can get!
He made my 8 am comm lecture very easy to go to and sit through. He is very interesting! You won't recommend taking him. Definitely the best comm lecturer there is at Clemson.
I loved this professor and he made the class funny and entertaining. I would definitely take him again and overall really enjoyed his class and his lectures in general.
This will be the best class you take as a freshman. I opted to take it because of the smaller class size, but I wasn't expecting it to be the most entertaining and engaging class I've ever taken. Seriously, we did a lesson on credibility and debated if Hitler was a credible speaker. And an activity about surviving the sub-zero Canadian wilderness.
He's a really cool, lax, and nice guy that knows that his class is one that everyone has to take and that everyone isn't going to be obsessing over. But he still is passionate about it and teaches it decently. The class really isn't hard, and he doesn't great hard. He's pretty funny but it's bc he's just a strange dude. Definitely recommend.
A little bit of a goober but overall an awesome teacher I would recommend anyone to take.
Leland is the best professor I had my freshman year. Absolutely hilarious and one of the most interesting guys you'll meet. Take him for COMM and you will enjoy his lectures and he is a very reasonable and easy grader. I love Leland and you should take him for an accomodating, nice, and funny teacher.
Leland is very enthusiastic during lectures and tries his best to keep students entertained and engaged. The course material is very straightforward. While attendance is taken at lecture, it is not necessary to attend every class, as long as you are completing homework in the textbook. The midterm and final are both online and open-note/open-book.
If you are looking to take your gen ed comm course definitely choose Leland. The lectures aren't incredibly boring and the exams are all open note. The grading criteria is very clear and it is difficult to get anything less than an A.
I LOVED his class. I had an 8 AM, but he tried to make his lectures not boring. All tests are open note which made them easy. I really enjoyed this class, even if it was early. Definitely take Leland if you get the chance.
Professor Leland is engaging with interesting lectures. You can tell that he is passionate and cares about the topics that he teaches. Exams are all open note open book, so as long as you pay attention then you'll do fine.
Leland is the best professor I have had at Clemson. A great guy who cares about you and a really interesting and funny person. If you have to take a gen ed. speaking class, Leland is the guy.
His lectures were entertaining and informative. He does a great job explaining some of the more difficult concepts but overall the class was super easy. He was always available for questions. Homework was easy and minimal and he spent time coordinating with various 1501 TAs to make sure the classes lined up. The 2 tests we had weren't;t bad either.
Honestly was kind of dreading a public speaking class but this lecture was actually one of the few classes that I looked forward to. Really amazing professor and definitely one you should take if you can!
Leland is great would recommend to anyone thinking about taking COMM 1500. I feel no one enjoys public speaking but he makes the lecture fun and entertaining. Attendance is mandatory but I usually I got the code from people in lab. But I would tell anyone to take him he is great.
Great professor with interesting lectures. He knows that the people in 1500 are not COMM majors so he doesn't make the class very difficult at all, and most of what you will be graded on are public speeches in your lab section (which are all easy and if you're a nervous speaker don't worry, the labs only have like 20 people).
I would 1000% recommend Leland for COMM 2500! He's the nicest guy with the funniest stories! He's also an easy grader who gives great feedback!
You can use your notes on the exams, there is only a midterm and final. Attendance is mandatory but it's a code so you just need a friend in the class if you can't be there. Your grade is combined with your comm lab which is where you do your speeches.
Best teacher I've had at Clemson. Hilarious guy who cares about his students. Easy grader who gives good feedback.
Exams are open note and lectures are actually entertaining. The actual speeches are very easy to write and perform well on, especially since you are only required to present in lab. Highly recommend!!
Leland is a fantastic lecturer! He has crazy stories that interest you in what he says. He gives us many practical tips for our real life. His exams are open notes for comm 1500, and the workload is minimal if you stay on top of your assignments. I highly recommend him for a successful class.
Professor Fecher is a great professor and very engaging! I loved his lectures, and the communications lab where you write and present the speeches is a smaller class, so it's not too scary and really helps you develop your public speaking skills!
An amazing professor. There is only a small amount of HW and mostly is for the lab. He is hilarious and I honestly remember so much from the lectures because of the jokes he makes. He is genuine and kind as well. only have a midterm and final, and he allowed google usage/open browser and encouraged google. I wish all professors were like him!
No need to attend lectures as long as u find out daily code word, can treat the class as an online. All homework is online and due at the end of the semester and it is super simple just can pile up if you don't get it done. 2 exams and they are both open notes. Lectures just discuss the readings.
The lectures are engaging, and the exams are open-note, so as long as you stay on top of the material, it's a relatively easy A. The professor makes an effort to keep things interesting. I also found unstuck ai helpful for study prep.
Super awesome professor and even though lecture attendance is not necessarily mandatory, I really recommend going! I enjoyed his lectures and he was very funny and engaging. Only had a midterm and final for this class, but they were both open note. You give speeches in the lab and there are only like 20 people in the class, so it's not too scary.
Leland is a fantastic professor! His lectures are entertaining and engaging. The exams are open-note/open-resource *wink wink* and all assignments and exams are online.
Super easy class! Doesn't overcomplicate this GENED class, makes it super simple. Attendance is mandatory, but it's run off an attendance code, not a physical role. All our tests are open note and online!
Really easy class with an amazing professor! You can tell he is passionate about what he teaches and understands that not everyone else will be. Found his lectures engaging and he did do attendance. You need to do assignments on TopHat, but they were all due at the end and easy. Midterm and final were open. Great and funny guy, definitely recommend
Leland is a great professor, lectures are a tad bit on the boring side, but he makes up for it by being a great person and the lecture portion of this class being very easy. I absolutely recommend him for COMM 1500!
Professor Fecher is a very nice guy. His lectures are so funny and entertaining, and he is passionate about what he does. I definitely recommend taking him!
No tests or projects only graded on assignment that were completion grades and they weren't due until end of semester. Easiest A in a course.
If you go to lecture, which has mandatory attendance, and complete the few (and easy) online assignments, you'll be just fine. There are no tests and no final exam. He is a great professor and makes class interesting and fun.
Professor Leland is so chill and nice! Very passionate about his lectures!
nice funny dude and my TA was super understanding, literally so easy, takes barely any effort at all to get an A and you'd have to try to fail
