Great teacher.. excellent explanation

She is a very good teacher who understand she needs to be clear to her audience so they can learn the material, something most professors should know but sadly not many do. Is not like she is a easy or hard, she is just a good teacher

she is a great teacher.. tests are made up of the material covered in class. she makes stastics fun, but her personality makes people feel like shes better then them. i like the class though... and recommend her for any math.

I had been dreading statistics since I enrolled at the college, but Prof. Lerer had been reccommended to me by several people. She is wonderful-her tests are fair. As for her personality, I find her sarcasm humorous, but many ppl dont, but I like her!

She is by far, absolutely the best teacher on the planet. There aren't any others like her. I was petrified of this class on the first day. Within minutes, I felt better.She makes it all seem so easy.It was my favorite class thus far. P.S. Dark chocolate is her favorite. Take her -she's amazing!!!!!

Extraordinary professor. She's funny and she presents the material in an easy to understand manner. There are homework assignments for every class but she doesn't enforce them and the test review sessions are very helpful in preparing you for the test. Pay attention and an A is yours.

I hate math and this prof.made me love Stats and I got an A in the summer! She does get snippy when someone asks a question but other than that she is awesome.

(NOTE: Baruch NY students, do not take MAT-150, "Best bets" from transfer counselors office has it recommanded, but it does not transfer!!!)I had her for stat and business calculus, I found her very helpful and passionate about teaching. She does get stiff once awhile but I would recommand her to anyone even who abhor and detest math. (got A, B+)

If you are wiling to take Statistics, do not hesitate. She is very easy, clear, funny, and helpful. I took her class in the morning, but never went asleep. However, do not take Kallman's class for the statistics.

I failed Statistics the first time with another guy (Tom something), but got an A with Prof. Lerer. She's all statistics, this lady, but she knows exactly how to teach this difficult subject. The other guy said "do it this way and that way", but Prof. Lerer explains things all the way. I now actually like statistics!!!

Lerer,can teach,but when it comes to her test, she takes points off for everything ,her point system suck! she is not fair when it comes to taking points off,for example she took 5 points off on one of my diagram and one of my classmate draw the same diagram nothing diffrent and she took 3 points off his.there is never enough time to take her test

Best math teacher i've ever had. She breaks everything down to the simplist possible form, making it easy for the biggest of math idiots. Test are generous in the fact that she takes a whole day before to review. HW is optional. Good sense of humor. Only complaint is she takes "grade altering" points off for small mistakes on her tests.

The class was okay. If you don't like math it is very bareable. She teaches in a great way where you will be able to understand her and follow. However, she can be kinda rude when you ask her questions because she has high expectations of everyone understanding each topic.

Awesome teacher. One of the best math teachers out there. She really cares about her students and makes class fun by using funny examples. I really suck at Math and have struggled with it throughout my academic career, but when I took her class I got an 'A'. As long as you pay attention, do the homework, and attend class, you should be fine.

I LOVED HER. That said, she is NOT an *easy* teacher. She goes a little too quickly and calls people idiots. She loves what she's teaching and honestly if you pay attention and do the practice tests online and go to extra help you will DEFINITELY do well. She makes herself available for help but it's best to do it outside of class. :)

this class was pretty hard..do not miss any classes because so much material is covered in one class that it will be hard to catch up...all i recommend is study study study and do the homework..the professor is ok..kinda rude but overall not too bad

Generally, I like her. i only took statistics because a friend recommended her. She reviews her concepts clearly and gives you a few nearly identical practice tests one of which she goes over in class so it's hard to fail. 4 Tests, no final. Should do homework, it helps. Don't be absent though, you may get lost. Take her!

Best teacher ever. I learned stuff, She covers a lot of material, so if you miss a day it could get ugly. Luckily i only missed one day and it wasn't that bad. Homework is not graded so bascially no1 does it. Very nice teacher, makes a boring subject fun I HIGHLY reccommend. Do yourself a favor and take this class for math.

Professor Lerer is by far one of Bergen's best. I am so glad I took her class. She is tough and moves quickly, but in the end, you'll learn more than you ever imagined. She is highly intelligent! "more is better like chocolate"

I took her online class which I thought would be a disaster but she made herself extremely available and was very involved on WebCT. She organized chats before tests and gave plenty of supplementary material. Online math is hard work but she makes it as painless as possible. I also had her briefly in person and she is even better w/o a doubt.<3 her

I took the online section of this class. The people who are complaining are the ones who can't even put 30 minutes of work during the week in the semester-I might have put a total of 8 hrs entire semester: 4 tests, discussion, hw, and occasionally quizzes...she is a clear in the beginning what she wants so no one should be complaing

I just took the online course for this class. The professor is extremely clear in what she expects from everyone. It's not an easy class but its not killer either. If you put in the work, you will reap the rewards. Anyone complaining that she is not good needs to better their own work ethic. If you get tired, have some Mountain Dew!

"MORE IS BETTER LIKE CHOCOLATE" - professor lerer. i ABSOLUTELY recommend her for STATS...i was at first nervous about this course but she made it very doable and clear. i ended up getting an "A" for the course. really she will help you if u ask for it..and a plus...she is hilarious =D

Online - 4 Exams at the testing center (85%), Online Quizzes (5%), Discussion (5%), Assignments (5%). All the instructions & information needed are posted online. She also posts practice exams with answers and they are very similar to the actual exams. She responds to emails within 24 hrs.

no more prof. Lerer for me. with her teaching this class, I go back to my prof. in elementary algebra to ask for help. Don't even feel like being in prof. Lerer's class anymore. Don't even find her funny after hearing her being quite offensive to some students.Never got less than 92 in algebra, but in thid class my grade went way down!

love her, just do all the HW, she gives alot tho, evry4th problem haha her test are not hard but tricky, read the test over be4 you give it to hr. she will laugh if you make stupid mistakes. and please don't make up your own math because she will slap you.no jk she always say that.. she is the best and i recommend her to everyone that love math.

I think she's absolutely wonderful. She gives the right homework necessary to prepare you for test. She's no joke though, if you dont do the work you will fall behind but she's an excellent teacher. I had her for STATS too and as hard as the class was her teaching earned me my A. If you do your work, this is the teacher to take for MAT and STATS

Such a great professor with an even greater sense of humor. She made Stat II so easy. Just take good notes and you will be good to go in this class. Doing homework isn't mandatory, it only helps. Grade is based on 4 tests, but review problems are similar to test problems. "More is better like chocolate!"

she is not bad, her class is fun but i worked so hard n all what i got is B. my exams were A+'s but the final brought it very low(got 80 on final) i love her sense of hummer but that doesnt help me in math class ,exams are exactly same as practice ones,but gives a lot of homework that she deoesnt check. i recommend her tho

I took her Stats class and she is an amazing teacher, but you really do need to be there every day. Its a difficult class, but she is one of the best teachers I have ever had!DO YOU WORK AND ATTEND and you will do fine. She is great with helping you with and is always there for extra help!

If you don't have a sense of humor, tough skin, and can't follow directions, don't take this class! I thought stats was going to be the worse experience ever but with Prof. Lerer; it was the best experience ever!She makes it easy to understand. The only way you could possibly fail in my opinion is if you don't come to class and pay attention.

I took her stats class and I loved her. I did not do well in the class, but if I took it more seriously I definitely could have got a B. She was very nice,but a little strict. I just want to say that she is different with everyone. She expects you to be responsible to do your homework and it is optional. If you participate a lot in her class you will do fine because she kindly corrects your errors. GET THE BOOK AND CALCULATOR!

Did really well on the first two tests, then bombed the last two, unfortunately, this teacher DOES NOT DROP the lowest exam grade...that's what gave me a D...

LOVED HER! She is nice and if you do the homework and just reread the section and do some practice questions before test you will do great. She gives practice exams which she used as the test the previous year which help alot. If you can do the practice test, you can do your test. If you do work and study, you will have no problem getting an A.

I am terrible at math. I previously dropped stats with another professor cause I was completely lost. Lerer is great, I never thought I'd do well. Do your homework, attend class, and you will easily pass! Also, I find her sarcasm refreshing. I don't know why there are negative reviews here!

Excellent teacher. Give you the tools and makes a difficult subject learnable. You must attend, do the assigned homework in order to participate in class and study. She uses her old test versions for review in class. Study them as they are the preview to the exams. If you follow her instructions you will do well in her class.

All the tests she gives have at most 6 questions on it and without studying you fail, simple as that. She gives worksheets and homework due every class and if you don't go up to the board to right the problem at the beginning of class she doesn't go over it and doesn't give you any class participation. I went from liking the class to hating it.

I am mathematically challenged,but she dumbs it down so much that you understand the concepts. MUST do HW/ATTEND/REVIEW old test to do well. She is not warm & fuzzy but she is an EXCELLENT professor. You will get an A if you do the work.

I was a bit apprehensive when I signed up for her class, but overall I enjoyed it. She has 4 tests and almost every class you hand in a worksheet which were never hard. I was able to pick up stats and am pleased overall.

She can be impatient at times, but overall her instructions were very clear. Do the worksheets, homework, and the practice tests and you will be fine. Her practice tests are almost identical to her real exams so it really gives you a chance to review where you stand and what you should focus on. Also, you are not required to memorize the formulas.

overall she is a very good professor, but she is not easy. her class,nor her attitude. She believes in class participation but she doesnt really add it into your final grade. no grade bump ups if u get a 79 u still will get a C. if your a Math of business major she is a good professor if not, stay away

Overall a good teacher. She can be overly uneccessarily dogmatic about certain things, but the material is all there in the book. Just read it. 4 tests, the first had extra credit. I got 100s on them all except the 2nd - questions were crazy, but still got an A - and I am NOT a "math person." Just DOUBLE CHECK all your math. Answers emails quickly.

LOVE professor Lerer. I was a little hesitant to take statistics II with her because of the previous ratings, but honestly she is a great teacher. The final grade consists of 4 tests and that's it. You have to attend every class or else you'll fall behind. Just go to class, make sure u do ur homework,&study&you are guaranteed a good grade :)

I took this class as a visiting student in the summer and she is one of the best math professors I've had. She makes stats SO easy, simple, and clear. The tests are exactly what she went over the class before. Show up on time and show that you care, and she will have patience to help you! Honestly, she knows how to teach. At first she was very sarcastic so I was like wtheck.. but listen to all her stories in class, she connects that to statistic. Which makes it so easy to understand. She doesnt freak you out with the formulas. But you should do all the hw and attend all the classes. I even consider changing my major

She is a great professor but this class was definitely a challenge. I am really good at math and I still felt this class was difficult. Since it was online, she doesn't post video lectures so you have to teach yourself. YOU NEED THE TEXTBOOK! The homework is a lot but it prepares you for the tests, which are not easy. Getting an A is possible!

I took the online class. There were a few homework assignments but mostly the grade came from the tests. Great class to take if you're good with learning on your own. Also she let me take the final exam after I missed the deadline to take it due to my own stupidity. Super nice of her. Be consistent with your work and studying and you'll be fine.

She is a great professor, but it is hard to get a good grade in her class especially if you're not good in math. She explains everything really well but on the tests you will get confused. I have decided to retake her class because of my low grade. Hopefully the second time around it won't be so difficult.

This class is an easy A as long as you are willing to do the work. There is homework after every class and some you have to hand it. She explains everything clearly and is easy to follow in class. She also gives a ton of practice test before each test.

Not a hard class as long as you teach yourself and understand the material. Gives you homework questions from the textbook which she DOES NOT check, around four assignments that she does check and gives feedback, and 4 tests (90% of grade, DOES NOT drop lowest grade). But she gives you practice tests that are the same as test but w/ dif. numbers.

I had originally read from this site that Professor Lerer was a hard awful teacher and when I found out I had classes online because of Covid, I did get worried. However, she is so nice and really wants to make sure you got the lesson. She has some funny jokes and with classes being online she was very patient. I would recommend taking her class.
