The best accounting instructor around. I wish he would move on to Rutgers!
I just love Mr. Chow. He is one of the best teachers at GCC. He makes accounting easier to understand. I worked for 28 hrs on the last project and I got a B+ in the class, and I was very pleased with it. If it wasn't for him, I would have failed the class
Mr. Chow is an excellent instructor. He is challenging, but it definitely pays off. He is the best accounting teacher at GCC; he takes his time with you and is always willing to help.
I hate accounting...BUT Professor Chow was a great teacher. He knows his stuff and provides very clear answers to questions.
Prehistoric teaching methods of acct. He'd know it if he had a CPA! I rec'd 30pts off b/c I didn't obey his acctg technique which aren't the real acctg world.I would have rec'd a 94!The old saying holds it's ground: Those who CAN DO,those who CANNOT teach.
Most awesome teacher ever and he's very entertaining
Very helpful, willing to make sure you understand what you are doing. He is very honest and moves at a steady but not overwhelming pace.
very good
excellent
Has no idea what the new accounting standards are. He's stuck in the 70's. He so anal and takes off points for things not being underlined. I rec'd a 50 points on a test that all the math was right, but 50 pts off b/c of style. I came back to my UNIVERSITY, and rec'd a B+. Highly dont recommend.
I mean he is not to bad, but he is really hard on you if you miss class.
Good teacher. Funny at times but serious. 10 pages of notes for test. Very helpful if you give effort and do homework.
Wonderful, Wonderful Wonderful....He helps those that do not understand Accounting. His exams were a little hard, yet helpful. Alot of take home exams, 10 page notes, and open book exams. I had to take Accounting I over, because I had McCormack, But Chow....HE'S THE MAN....AN EASY B!!! THE KEY: good notes
If you give the effort, there is no reason not to pass this class. He explains the concept until you get it. He is a little goofy at times, sometimes you laugh and sometimes you're not sure how to react, but a great professor!
Dedicated teacher who doesn't quit until you understand the concept and always willing to go the extra mile. Demands respect - give it to him - he deserves it! Did hear comments from others that this class isn't keeping up with the accounting workplace, but don't hold it against the professor - go to the dean and let him know! Chow really is good!
great freaking teacher

Hes a good teacher, but he doesnt explain as much as he should.. i dont mind him now that i have him but probably would pick him again..
GET BETTER SOON! Very enthusiastic attitude, tries to make a hard topic enjoyable, and does an awsome job at it. You can tell just from his personality that he loves his job. Now with Craig in teh room, we are really misasing you! Hope to see you back in action real soon. Get well Chow
Mr. Chow is one of the best teachers I have ever had! I owe my entire accounting career to his teaching! He made the class so fun and easy to understand and was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you understand the material. I always recommend him, especially to ppl that have to take acct. but aren't majoring in acct. Take Mr. Chow!!
Best professor I have ever had. His "goofyness" and humor helps you learn and retain what you learn. He will keep at a topic until you understand it's concepts. Dr. Chow is a huge asset to this institution and I hope he stays with us for a long time. Get well soon Dr Chow - future students need you.
Took the classes online and he was very helpful, fair, and informative. He was very clear and always answered questions promptly.
if ur not neat dont take choy , he is a descent teacher but i dont reccommend him becuase he is so critical and even if ur answers are right if they are sloppy u can forget it...........
he sucks dont listen to wat other people say i did and now i have to withdrawl from da class and take it over agian. DINT TAKE CHOW
all i can say i dont take choy he sucks and you will regret taking him in the end......
All I can say is dont take chow
The best teacher I've ever had. Makes learning fun. Teaches "life" not just accounting. Take him, expect to learn a lot, I did!
he is a great teacher, u will learn alot, but in the same time u have to do all h.w to stay in the same page with him..over all hes very nice
chow sucks because of him I switch my major to law enforcement
not helpful at alll

Don't listen to the whiners below. I'm lazy and I still survived his class with a B. His extravagent nature and sense of humor make his class great. He is extremely helpful and answers questions quickly via e-mail. If the people who are complaining think Chow is hard, try crazy McCormack or Giordano and you'll realize how good you had it w/Chow
he told me i would NEVER make anything of myself in the acctg world b/c i didn't have what it takes. 6 yrs later i have a BS in acctg, an MBA in taxation, and just passed the CPA exam in the top 91st percentile. NEVER listen to a word he says!
It is a very difficult class and you must attend the class and do ALL the homework if you want to do well. Don't expect it to be easy but Chow works with you and is very kind if you show you are trying. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!
Greatest teacher ever! Gives unanounced extra credit for homework (so always do it!!!). If you miss class, he'll catch you up via email if you ask him to. Always available after class for ANY questions, not just acct. Lives in cyberspace. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you're willing to work hard. Lazy ppl FAIL!!! I worked hard, earned an A.
Very good Proffessor. A little sarcastic but funny.
Mr. Chow is a great teacher. I took accounting in high school so it wasnt new but if you dont understand something you can ask. He preactically begs for questions the class before the tests because he wants everyone to do good. If you dont show up to class you'll probably be lost. He is really helpfull and Im taking his for accounting II. Take him
mr. chow is awesome. if you go to class and listen, it's a breeze. however, if you are disrespectful you may find yourself in his dog house. when it comes to explaining the boring world of accounting, no one is better. my favorite things about chow are that A) he wants you to do well and B) he prepares you for life, not just the business world.
Great teacher that wants you to suceed. However, if you talk from attendence on you will lose points. SEROIUSLY!!! It happened to a few students.
One of the gresatest teacher's I have ever had. If you want to get an A you will, he does everything he can to make sure you do. Tells you exactly what to study for the tests and gives extra credit throughout semester for homework assignment. One of the few who actually cares about his students! Taking him for BUS 103 and Bus 106.
Prof. Chow is excellent. Homework is often worth extra credit on exams, so remember to always to do it. He lets you use notes during exams, but you have to understand what is going on in the notes prior to the exam. Problems on the exam will use parts of examples given in class, but are not exactly the same.
Very good Accounting Teacher. If you want to understand accounting he is your guy. I can sincerly say that what he teaches you will stay. I attended this class over 20 years ago and when I took Acct 2 last fall, everything came back to me.
I have Mr. Chow this semester for BUS 102 online. VERY HARD. Not because he's a bad teacher, just because I'm an idiot. haha no, but really... He is a great teacher.. And wants to see you succeed. Online classes tend to be difficult on their own, but Mr. Chow makes it so that you will succeed. Great professor!
I wouldn't take accounting with another professor
Good Professor & very helpful wants to see you suceed. Responds quickly to emails. Funny man, tells jokes to loosen things up. Gives take home test & open book exams with 10 pages of notes also extra credit for homework. Only dislike were the class essay for exams.Try not to interrupt his class takes points away if you do. Highly recommend him.
Awesome teacher. Gives you precise info and great examples. Extra credit throughout the semester so do the homework, it really helps.
On line class. Good if you can teach yourself. If not take it in school. Little difficult and you are not aloud to correspond with the other students. You can e-mail Mr. Chow and he is awesome at responding.
don't like the way he teaches
Withdrew from his class as to not bring my GPA down. Take home tests took days to complete, too much homework and went way too fast. If you have to take this course I would not take it with him. I did like his personality and he was a fast responder to email. If you get on his bad side he will become argumentative with you in class.
Worst teacher at GCC. When were you other people allowed to use cheat sheets? We weren't. You would have to be insane to take accounting at GCC. Chow and Dilorenzo were both horrible. Take it at a 4-year college instead.
can be your favorite or worst teacher. its up to how you act in class, if you do your hw and dont talk during class its easy, if you dont do ur hw u will be lost and if you talk during class he will blow up! collects hw randomly and counts it as extra credit! i had over 50pt E.C. added to my test at the end of the semester just for doing my hw!
I had him for Accounting I and II, and am taking him again for Managerial. I find him to be extremely helpful and always willing to talk over problems after class. He's often online for questions via email.
I LOVE Mr. Chow and wish he taught all the Accounting classes. He is very helpful and he likes when we ask questions and admit to our mistakes because that is how we learn! The take home tests are not hard-whoever wrote that probably never attended class. He likes his job and it shows - I look forward to his classes!
Excellent teacher, all teachers should be like him. He is hard on you in Acct I but if you survive a dream in Acct II. He loves his job and really wants kids to succeed, will be patient and help whenever need. Runs a tight ship, don't talk in class, do your homework. You will work hard to get your grade but you will learn a lot.

He's a great teacher. Don't talk in class though or he will take points off. Do your hw; he randomly gives xtra pts. for it. He's very helpful and generous when it comes to grading. He has a good sense of humor and really wants you to do good in his class. Take home tests are hard and lengthy, but he's available online if you need help.
even though attendance is not mandatory if you miss a class you will be lost
Mr. Chow is not my favorite. I was there every class. Struggled a lot because of his fast teaching methods. He couldn't help me grasp the accounting in relation to real life. I would get discouraging email responses from him as well. I borderline switched my major but don't let 1 GCC professor ruin your plans. I recommend Hall.
All in all, a good instructor. Had him for Acct. I and II as well as Managerial. Very thorough in the classroom as far as making sure everyone understands, although sometimes slows the class down TOO much. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. A little tougher online.
Great teacher. Classes are straightforward. He gets right to the material but does so at a pace that is easy to follow. He makes sure you understand before moving on in the material. His tests are frequently open book or with notes and those that aren't he goes over thoroughly during the previous class. If you can swing it, take his class.
I had Chow for accounting 1 was very clear but loves to embarass people in class, loves to make stupid jokes.. i would take him again if i HAD to but wouldnt willingly
He seems nice at first, but is actually pretty mean. When you e-mail him for clarification on something or help he is very sarcastic and rude, as if it's your fault you don't understand something. He embarrasses students in class. If you miss a class YOU WILL BE LOST, so you should attend all classes. Overall, he's okay, but NOT NICE.
he's a standard teacher he's not bad. he cares, he's like one of those eaheres from tv. he dropped my lowest test grade, after i skipped my final.
Very knowledgeable. He uses the book more w/ Acct 1 than 2.Acct 2 is based more on the notes he gives you,so try not to miss class. The projects due at the end of the semester, which are valued as 50% of your total grade, are easy but very time consuming.Tough grader,so 100% EFFORT needed!Overall,he is a wonderful prof who deeply cares for his students
Mr.Chow, YOU ARE THE MAN! I failed accounting and took him online and he saved me big time. Take him!He is really nice, funny and cares about making you understand. A++++++ Thank you CHOW!
He's one of those"instructors"that enjoys seeing you lost. He refuses to handout problems' sloutions, so you keep trying to catch up on his notes, rather than understaning where the numbers came from. Then you will have to go home and try to make sense of it. I don't care how knowledgable he is, overall his teaching methodology and skills are lousy
Some of you people can be so lazy. Do the work and go to class and you will be fine. He is not going to give you answers just because you email him. He will try and guide you to the answer, so you find it yourself. He is always available after class for questions you may have. Some of you people forget you are not in high school anymore.
Very knowledgable and will stay after for any questions. I admit he doesn't like any excuses for his classes and his tests are not straight out of the book or notes BUT he wants to make sure you know it. He will always wait til everyone understands then moves on. Overall he is a good professor!
I took his class in person, it went well, but don't expect him to just give you the answers. I am taking him on line now and it is a lot different. He is not nearly as helpful and I am struggling with the class.
He was a good teacher.
I LOVE Mr. Chow, he's awesome/caring teacher. I took Accounting I & II...and look forward t Managerial in the Fall. To the whinners, "Wake up, shut up...and do your work!" Thank you Mr. Chow, you're the BEST!
Enjoyed his class...informative, knowledgeable. He's a fair grader, do the work and you will be fine. Lazy folks need not apply...you know who you are. Mr. Chow is the MAN!
It's like this...if you're hungry enough Professor Chow will help you get there, but dont expect any "free lunches" in his class. Overall...an excellent teacher.
Chow is a pretty good teach. If you miss a class, you fall behind pretty easily. It's not mandatory to show up or stay the whole time, but I would. Sometimes he goes through things fast. Do not be afraid to stop and ask him questions.Do your HW he will give some extra credit sometimes. Allow many hours for this class. Very important.
I couldn't stand him. Most of the things we said were incomprehensible and he was an unreliable and outrageously unfair teacher. NOT recommended.
Mr. Chow is very tough, but he's fair. If you put the work in he's alright, if you don't you'll pay for it. Overall a good professor.
Had Prof. Chow for Acct 1 and 2... fantastic teacher!!! If you put forth effort you will do well, come to class, do hw, ask questions if you need help. NOT easy but fair! You get what you put in to it!!
Accounting is more comprehensive than crunching numbers. Prof. Chow helps ease the comprehension so that you fully understand it. Extra Credit is earned upon completing homework. Accounting is no easy class and Chow makes sure of this, meaning he is very strict when grading tests. Read the book and do the homework and you will earn a C or better.
I took him for Acct 1 & 2. He lets you know from the start that he doesn't "give free lunches" but if you work hard you will be successful. Online class for acct 2 was a bit more difficult because he's not there to help you as much, so reading the book is a must. He put me in the right direction for my career in accounting so thank you Mr. Chow!
I took 2 of his accounting courses and pass both with an A. I think he's fair. I liked his teaching methods, he doesn't try to make it harder than it already is like some teachers. Don't expect it to be a piece of cake, it's not. You have to do all the hw and read the material otherwise you'll do bad on tests. Otherwise tests are exactly like hw.
Chow is a great professor who wants you to succeed as long as you make an effort in class. He doesn't make the test simple. I remember him saying "I'll teach you how to fix the front door of the car, but you must figure out how to fix the passanger door". That's his class in a nutshell. BUS 103 is much easier than 102l, enjoy his class.
Is in a bad mood a lot. He is very unorganized. He writes notes but his hand writing is very sloppy and is in no order. He will open many windows on his iPad and not know which one to open while constantly going between problems l. Have never seen a teacher be so unorganized. He can't explain something if you don't understand it, and will snap at u
Excellent teacher and a very kind man if you pay attention in class and do all his work. Not an easy class, but always do homework as it can result in extra credit and make good notes for his tests! Do not get on his bad side like some people did. Loved him as a teacher and has a very good sense of humor once you get to know him. Thanks Mr. Chow!
Mr. Chow makes accounting easy to learn. I am not going to lie, it was still tough, but he makes everything very clear. He takes time to go over any questions step by step, sometimes he might over explain or moves a little slow, but I feel that's good for students who might need that. His tests are tough, but he gives you all the help before hand.
I had Mr. Chow for accounting 1 and the first day of class he tells you that 13 of the class will fail the semester he says accounting isn't made for everyone its jus how it is this gave me very little hope but I kept my head up and tried anyway. My dad is a certified public accountant and found this class was ridiculously hard do not take him
Mr. Chow is an excellent teacher. He is the perfect person to take for this course. He pushes and makes you work for your grade. Although his test are extremely hard and you can NEVER skip class, it will be all worth it. If you skip 1 class you minds well form in your head you will Fail the upcoming test and I'm serious. But he is very nice
As long as you Go to class, write down your notes and do the hw and the big project, you'll pass with flying colors
Great professor, hard class. Homework is usually extra credit points. The majority of your grade is weighted on six test scores and project. The lowest test score is dropped so you have some lee-way. Also, test are open-book usually open notes. He is a very nice professor and always asks if you have any questions. Again, hard class though.
Great professor. He knows his stuff. All homework is extra credit and test were open notebook. You have to work for your grade but overall a great professor.
Yes, he is a tough teacher, in the sense that he doesn't just make the homework the same as the tests. He puts pieces of everything together in order to trick you to be able to apply every accounting process. Just don't over think it, if he likes you... he'll make sure you pass if you do your work.
Lectures on and on, but if you try you will be able to pass with a good grade.
If you like to fail this is the class for you! not only is he a awful teacher but shows no respect whats so ever I took him before transferring out to Penn State University and he still was the hardest teacher not to mention my father is a CPA he tells you the first class 1/3 of you will fail so inspirational thanks for showing me a horrible time!!
He seems like a nice person, but I feel like he makes accounting more difficult than it has to be. The course can be pretty challenging and he's a really tough grader. Don't miss class or you can really be behind. Make sure you ask questions if you don't understand but DONT interrupt the class by talking to a neighbor.
He gives homework without going over it so you literally have no idea what you're doing. When you ask questions, he'll call you out in front of everybody. Just doesn't seem like he cares about if you understand or not.
I took Professor Chow for accounting 2. He is a good professor, and gives extra credit for doing work. I'd recommend going to class and trying the homework. Not many things go into your grade, so make sure you score well on the exams. He is always offering to help his students, which is good. The class was a medium level of difficulty.
leo chow is the worst prof i've had. he literally gives you a test after doing a chapter for one class. He sits there and talks about his life, how you have to be driven, and absolutely nothing to do with the class. if you talk during class he'll get so mad for no reason. he is literally crazy. save ur money and dont take chow.
I was worried to take Mr. Chow because of the reviews and I'm glad I decided to take him. His online course is very self explanatory and definitely perfect for someone who works 40 + hours a week. He was very helpful and understanding. I highly recommend him for this course.
Chow is such a laid back guy. As long as you don't be a jackass, pay attention, go to class, and do the homework you will pass the class. I finished with an A and it was not hard at all if you actually try. If you don't go to class how can you expect to pass.
Worst professor ever. Doesnt post grades at all. Doesnt give enough examples, or even help to any work. Doesnt answer emails. Says you have a high grade one day, the next day your failing. His grading is all over the place. Never again.
Super good at reprimanding! I felt like I paid extra for the mental beatdowns.. He will talk down to a select few individuals and assert his dominance in the classroom. I thought this was a course but all I was left with was a professor lashing out on students. Also participation matters & he'll pick like 3-4 people and make fun of what they said..
