AMAZING TEACHER!!!! TAKE HIS CLASS! he is clear, understandable, and very very helpful and HOTTTT!!! he is the best teacher ive ever had! he might crack a joke in class that is hilarious and also fits the class discussion. Always makes class very fun. There are group projects, tests and quizzes. id take this class over and over again!! I LOVE HM
Great Professor! Is incredibly understanding if you talk with him and he realizes that you are putting work into the class. Make sure to read the chapters, study, and come to class!
Professor Kiralla made me consider a profession in psychology. He was understanding when i accidental slept in the day of an exam, he makes his lectures worthwhile and is always fair. This is one of the few classes where I see myself using what I learn in my day to day operations. I would take again. Btw I think i'll get an A, finals week is soon.
Great teacher super helpful and understanding, though the readings super important.
He is an amazing professor and makes the class interesting and enjoyable. Reading the textbook and taking notes in class really impact your grade, but as long as you do both, he works around your schedule and is flexible about missing class. Again a great professor and I highly recommend taking his class.
Leo is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had! He gives good lectures, easy assignments and extra credit. He really shares his love for the subject with the students. I hope to take another class of his. Take this class you will most definitely love it.
I usually don't rate professors, but Leo is exceptional. For example, he is understanding and caring b/c I had to take Bus.280 for 1.5 week study abroad trip... so, he gave me individual work to make-up class time. He loves the subject he teaches, is knowledgeable, and his lectures are never boring. Furthermore, he is hilarious and charming!
10/10 would take class again. Really caring, remembers you, flexible with your schedule. Tells you exactly what's on the quizzes/tests so listen to him. Just do the assignments, show up to class, study, take good notes, you'll be good. Communication is important too. They don't know everything about you but he will listen. One of my favorites.
Leo was an amazing professor. I had just taken the class in high school but had to take it again for a pre-requisite but he made it super interesting and enjoyable. Definitely one of my favorite teachers of all time. Also very reasonable and flexible. Made me considering minoring in psychology. Would definitely take more of his classes.
Leo is the best teacher/professor that I have ever had. I first had Leo for intro to psych. I loved his class so much that I decided to take his abnormal psych class that he offered the next quarter. He is one of the most open teachers you will meet. We were constantly discussing student questions and recent topics in class. Seriously best teacher.
This professor is one of my favorites so far! He loves this subject & generally has a lot of knowledge about it. He isn't exact on what he is looking for in his quizzes (which are in between 10-20 questions & you will only get about 2-4) but if you are thorough then you will do well! I only used the book once, so if you listen in class I guarantee you will do really well. If he sees you are paying attention he will not grade you harshly at all.
So hot, provide extra credits, and understanding. Love him
Leo is really an awesome guy. He clearly loves and knows a lot about psychology. He is caring and always makes sure everyone understands the material. The exams in the class are a bit rough, but if you study enough and read the material you will be fine. There is a lot of note taking, but it is always on a variety of interesting topics.
I LOVE Leo!!! He is, hands down, the best professor I have ever had. He is SUPER caring & knows a ton about Psych. You will get 2-6 quizzes throughout the quarter, a few easy essays, & 3 tests. All very very easy if you pay attention in class & participate. 100% recommend. Take this class if you have the option!!!
Leo is fantastic, he is obviously passionate about psychology. As a result, his lectures are super engaging! There is barely any homework so your grade is mainly composed of tests and quizzes. The quizzes are based on his lectures so try not to skip, and the tests are derived from the textbook so it's important to actually read. Highly recommend!
Leo was by far the best professor I've ever had. He is so caring and funny and really cares about his students. His tests aren't hard but you do have to write quite a bit. This class is very informative but it's all fun thing to learn about yourself and others. Leo is incredibly helpful and will do anything to help you pass. He's a great guy.
Leo was absolutely great. He is very open to class discussion. He is very information and brings in outside sources that make the class even more interesting. He is very helpful about options that are out there if your interest is in Psy. Highly recommend his class.
Test and quizzes were pretty simple but they required a moderate amount of memorization. Do the readings and use flash cards and you'll be fine. He is super super nice and always made class really interesting. He wants you to succeed and he is always available if you need extra help.
Leo is awesome! I've taken him for PSYC100 and PSYC220; Both times I had him he made learning the material entertaining and he is willing to work with you if something comes up and you miss class. He gives you one opportunity to make-up quiz/test (usually) - Then you get docked points. Always very nice, respectful, and knowledgeable of the subject.
Leo is really knowledgeable about the field and has great skills for teaching, but as you get to know him in person he could be a little prejudiced that makes you confused between his personality in the class and outside. Also, test is heavy, make sure to study everything instructed.
AMAZING TEACHER!!! Extremely knowledge in psychology and helps you understand concepts. Will give the class all the students all the information to get an A in the class and grade. Very clear on instructions and easy grader. I got a easy A in his class. All in all amazing, funny, really nice teacher. Definitely recommend his class. Also very hot.
Leo is amazing. Really knowledgeable. He has helpful anecdotes and is happy for students to share personal experiences if they want. Uses textbook really well, tests from vocabulary and uses the textbook's descriptions often. PowerPoints are sometimes confusing, rely on textbook more. Tests can be hard, but talk with him and he might help you out.
Such a great teacher! Uses the textbook for homework and for his lectures, but also has videos, documentaries, group projects, and great discussions. Super knowledgeable about psychology. Very clear grading criteria. There is a quiz almost every week on the textbook, and the final is not cumulative. Would definitely take him again!
This is a tough, but rewarding topic. Leo is SO clear on what is on the tests. He is a counselor and a teacher, very respectful and kind. Be in class, he covers a lot and this is where he announces what to expect on tests. READ THE BOOK. One group presentation, but super easy. Offers extra credit, there are a few weekly exercised in beginning.
This is my favorite professor on campus, I've taken him for 100 and 220. He's caring, insightful, and readily willing to make time for students to ask questions either after/before class or in office hours. He listens to students in class and encourages participation. He genuinely wants you to succeed and is very clear on what the exams will be on.
Leo is one of my favorite teachers ever. Psych 100 was one of my favorite classes.I had been conflicted with what I wanted to major in and become and he confirmed that psychology is what I am most interested. Class was not too hard if you pay attention and read. I spaced out often sometimes and got an A still. He tells you what will be on tests.
Leo cares about his students and will work with you to be successful. Like most intro classes, this is a crash course. It moves quickly but he doesn't leave you in the dust. He offers extra credit and all of his quizzes/exams are straightforward as long as you pay attention during lectures. I recommend taking notes during lectures!
Leo is such an awesome teacher! Great at explaining things and giving examples. He also works as a therapist so he has good real-world experience and examples. Really funny and loves what he does!
Professor Leo is a wonderful teacher who knows his stuff very well. This class is not an easy A but it is also not hard at all. Furthermore, if you show up to the work and pay attention you will be fine
He is a cool guy, but make sure to take notes and pay attention in class. Otherwise, you will screw. I didn't like that class for an intro to psych, too harsh.
Kiralla is the best professor Ive ever had. Hes incredibly understanding of students circumstances and works with you to give you the best learning experience. As long as you try and pay attention in the class youll pass. Hes engaging, really kind, communicative, and explains really well. Id take all my classes from him if I could.
I loved Leo's class so much. He was honestly the best teacher I've ever had and really made me so interested in psychology that I'm majoring in it for a graduate degree. It's not hard to pay attention in class because it's so interesting and he really shows he cares about students.
Honestly the very best professor I've ever had. Super compassionate and genuinely loves what he does. His classes are lecture heavy, but always really interesting. His teaching style is on point and his tests and quizzes are really only challenging if you don't come to class or keep up with the minimal amount of reading. Super funny & truly cares!
Leo is really a nice teacher. He is knowledgeable and always cares about his students. Some of his tests are difficult and you need to read a lot. But you really can learn much after taking his course. Really like his course!
good teacher, hard class lots of reading
It's not a particularly easy class, but if you put in the work you can get an A. You definitely shouldn't skip class because the lectures are important and participation is graded. You also shouldn't skip because the lectures are absolutely amazing. Tests are fairly difficult and there are a lot, but there is extra credit with every exam.
Leo is awesome, and one of the only psychology instructors that also actively works as a therapist in private practice. He provides real-world experience, and a well-rounded perspective that goes beyond the hyper-pathologizing current psychological framework. He is relatable, kind, and a good teacher.
I really enjoyed Leo's online class! Abnormal psychology is such an interesting subject and the assignments helped me to understand the material. The only thing I did not like about the class is that it was difficult to reach Leo by email, but everything else was good and I would definitely take another class from Leo again!
Leo is an amazing lecturer, he uses his experience/knowledge as a therapist to make lectures interesting. class time is all lectures but they r interesting. 3 exams and 4 quizzes. Most of the small assignments were pass/fail. Tests r hard and require alot of memorization, but gives up to 16 pts EC total. Getting an A is hard work but not impossible
Best professor I've ever had. Every class is so enjoyable and beneficial. Easy to talk to and cares about the students. Would take this class over again if I could.
Leo is a great professor and lectures are really interesting. However tests are VERY difficult and so are the quizzes. I hated how we wouldn't ever be able to discuss where we went wrong on the tests/quizzes so you could NEVER improve! Seemed like he had other things to do besides really care about his students improvement so my grade never went up
One of the best professors Ive had at bellevue! He really made psych my new favorite subject. Although, the tests were pretty hard, but even if you dont test that well, you have A TON of oppurtunites for extra credit (that are pretty easy and interesting). Besides just a few assignments, most are based off participation or just being there.
Amazing teacher, his lectures are amazing every class. Tons of information every class, you will need to take good notes. Some things he covers in class are not in the text book and will be on the tests. He does tell you which notes from the lecture will be on the test. All class lectures you have access to on canvas.
One of the kindest teachers at BC. He cares about his students and works with them to succeed. Took his online course and work load is super light - one quiz per week multiple choice, typically one reflective writing piece per week, and two open book tests. Uses lots of videos. Awesome guy.
Leo's class was super interesting. If you need to take psychology as a prerequisite take Leo! The homework load was light. You need to know the material to pass the class. There is a lot of memorization. However, Leo does a good job of giving examples to help better understand the concepts. He also offers extra credit after tests!
He is a clinical therapist, studying for doctorate. he offered great information on the lifestyle/ethics/process of becoming a therapist. his grading was a problem, I had difficulties predicting my success in the course. It is Monday of finals week and he has 6/13 assignments graded. GRADES: 4 quizzes, 2 test, 1 final, 4 assignments, 1 group projec
Unpopular opinion here, but I didnt think Leo was that great. He rarely communicated on Canvas and was a slow grader- I waited 4 weeks to get my grade on Exam 1 back. His class mostly involved reading the book and taking REVEL quizzes, which did little to enhance my learning. I had hoped to gain a lot from this class but I am very disappointed.
He was really behind on grading and rarely gave any feedback, so it was hard to know how we were doing in the course and what we should improve on. We never received our exams back. On a good note, his lectures were always helpful and the course became easier towards the end because tests were less about memorization and more about diagnosis.
easy class if you do the readings & take notes. drops hints throughout about the free response questions on the test and gives the answer so pay attention. 16 total extra credit points possible. Lecture heavy, but really interesting. Really light homework load, but you have to study for tests and quizzes. Slow grader. Really cares about students
Really great class! He is a super easy grader and doesn't overload you with work at all. Attendance is not mandatory but definitely helpful.
LEO IS THE BEST!! He is probably the best professor I've ever had. He really wants to see his students succeed and is available outside of class as well if you need it. I would highly highly recommend taking any of Leo's classes because he makes them really interesting. He is so kind and a genuinely caring person who is a great prof. Leo rocks!!
Loved Kiralla! Supportive, helpful, & available outside of class. An amazing professor, I took his course as an elective & it continued to foster my interest in psych! He was a breath of fresh air, always willing to schedule meetings & offer extra credit or advice. The book was interesting & the workload (summer quarter) was very doable.
He's fine. He's not the nicest person tbh. The type of teacher that you'll pass the class but not friendly with him or anything. His test is hard and the homework amount is ok. He's not very flexible and tends to say harsh things. You'll definitely pass if you try hard, but if I can choose another teacher, I would.
Leo is the best professor I've ever had and that's on periodttt
He was such an amazing professor. His lectures were easy to understand and interesting at the same time. All his lectures were recorded. He gave us easy assignments and quizzes. Easy A. I became to like psychology more because of his class.
Leo is a great overall professor. However, he takes a while to respond to emails, but he is understanding and helpful when he gets to them. The work is not difficult in his class, there is a lot of reading but quiz answers are straight out of the articles/lectures. He is a decent grader on assignments as well (they aren't difficult). Good class.
Prof Kiralla is so helpful and this course was so engaging. I'm already fascinated by Abnormal psych and Kiralla's teaching only made me more interested! He's always available to help and on our final paper he helped me find ALL 3 of the articles I needed. I appreciate him so much and u should def take his class. period
Mr. Kiralla was a great professor. Each week we had an optional zoom meeting (i would recommend attending), lecture video(s), 1 canvas assignment, and a textbook chapter (40-60 pg). He was also available to meet outside of class and would take a day to respond. GREAT help for the final paper, helped me pick out my topic nad all three articles.
Professor Kiralla was a joy to learn from. He really understands people and the subject matter he's teaching, he's kind and relatable and really respects his students and their time. I would absolutely take another course from him.
He's awesome! He's very organized. His lectures are really good and informative. He's good at preparing you for exams. Gives out an easy A, just do the work. He always gives feedback too, with a personal touch. He offers everyone extra credit assignments as well, if you want to bump your grade up.
Professor Kiralla is so nice!! He actually cares about how youre doing (emotionally and in class). He gives a couple options for extra credit too!! Work load is perfect when balancing other classes. Class was completely online. Would definitely take a class from him again. Super flexible with deadlines as well.
Prof. Kiralla was amazing! He's a great teacher and I loved this class. You can tell he really cares about his work. Typically one assignment a week and one lecture but if you complete them and take notes then you'll be fine. If you're remotely interested in psychology then I highly recommend this class. 10-page research paper is the final.
TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I am a running start student interested in psychology and Leo 100% boosted my interest. I would say the class itself is fairly easy if you do the work. Heavy on the readings and lectures but only one assignment and one quiz per week. Very interesting content. Gives up to 16 points extra credit. Has office hours if you need help!
Professor Leo is one of the nicest people I have met in my life. He cares a lot about his students. He is very flexible with the deadlines. So If you miss things, he takes everything late. He is an easy grader, the average for tests and research paper was in the 90s. So as long as you do the work you will get an A.
Feedback helped. There are extra credit opportunities, but you will have to sort through a decently sized Youtube video to get the answers. Articles that are assigned for homework and used on exams are pretty long, so make sure to read them and take notes on the important parts that are used for the assignment itself. Fun class, though.
Interesting materiel, easy class if you do the work. Extra credit work is also great.
Professor Kiralla created a great first experience to learning Psychology! Many recorded lectures that were interesting to listen to and coursework that was easy to follow. He is one of my favorite professors at BC so far!
Fantastic lectures, makes it easy and engaging to learn the material. Responds to and grades papers quickly! Several extra credit opportunities. The readings are a bit dense, although thats probably to be expected? Great online class. Ive learned a lot without much busywork. Would definitely take a class with him again.
Leo is a great professor who is clearly doing something he is passionate about. I wasn't super passionate about the subject before taking it, but his dedication is infectious. Very understanding, clear with expectations, organized, and overall a great professor, especially if you're looking to go into the field of psychology.
Only 1 assignment every Sunday, 3 quizzes, 3 exams, 2 EC, & LOTS of reading. Make sure to watch all his lectures; he gives hints for the exams (they're open note/book). You can find answers to Qs in the assigned reading &lectures. He gave 100% for all assignments, so he grades on effort. Gives good feedback; very interesting class. Take him!
Leo is amazing. His lectures are great. His assignments are engaging and very interesting. Would totally take his classes again and recommend for everyone to take it!
Excellent professor! His enthusiasm about the course content is contagious. Even though there is a decent amount of work assigned it is very engaging and graded fairly. He treats his students like adults and works with them towards the best outcome and understanding of the topic. Great class!
Leo is an amazing professor and an incredibly smart individual. He gives personal feedback on all your assignments and is very clear about what to expect on exams and quizzes. 10/10 would take again.
I absolutely LOVED having Mr. Kiralla as a teacher!! I took him for summer qtr, and some stuff came up about mid-quarter that made it really difficult for me to complete assignments on time, and he was really understanding. He even made sure I was doing ok! Having a practicing therapist as a psych teacher really made all the difference!
Prof Kiralla cares about all his students and is very open to feedback. He's super understanding if you need to miss class or makeup assignments. I've taken a lot of psych courses, but he was by far the best teacher. There are lots of extra credit opportunities and tests/ quizzes are very straightforward.
My class with Mr. Leo was bright in the early morning, class was enjoyable even with my morning grouchiness this class woke me up. He is really funny and makes class easy to follow along with. One minor problem is he doesn't respond to emails so you would have to go up to him at the end of class. Other than that amazing professor, would take again!
Professor Kiralla was one of the best teachers I've had so far. He was really nice and his lectures were very engaging and well thought out. The homework was minimal and quizzes were online. End your search and pick this teacher.
Easily one of the most fun, captivating, and inspirational professor's I've ever had. Took him as an 8am but getting up was easy cus the content and the class was so interesting. You learn a LOT and get a great psych foundation. I recommend attending the lectures. Coursework: bi-weekly free responses to readings and quizzes/tests. TAKE THIS CLASS!!
Overall a great & caring professor. I struggle paying attention to lectures but all of his were super interesting and you can tell he's passionate about psychology. The only reason for a lower rating is he can be hard to reach, I've waited up to 3 weeks for an email back. He is also a slow grader but grades very fairly, so I didn't mind.
Prof. Kiralla is knowledgeable and passionate about psychology, and he teaches the content well. He's chill and flexible about deadlines. Class was low pressure and pretty easy.
If you want an easy online course take this one. This course felt like there was not even an instructor or other students. Leo is an easy grader and only assigns 1-2 assignments per week that are very easy.
I agree with what ppl are saying, but im using the limited space for things that werent gr8 async. Very hard to reach, he's extraordinarily busy. The pacing is ALL up to you; class is easy overall but if u have issues with pacing it's hard. Work is challenging if u do ur best work, but easy to go rly easy bc it's participation except tests/quizzes
Literally the best dude. He's so caring and understanding, is flexible with assignments, and has few quizzes that are actually pretty easy. this was such a low stress class and i still managed to retain info and it was just amazing, would fully recommend. i was stressed ab final paper and ended up with 100, you really just have to put in effort.
Overall great class, one assignment per week that is usually interesting and takes max 2 hours. Finishes with a research paper that is pretty easy and getting to choose your adventure with it. Was easy, and fun, and I learned so much. Take the Class!!
Asynchronous summer course. His Panopto lectures were short and very entertaining. Open note multiple choice tests and quizzes. He incorporates many outside sources and I genuinely had fun doing his (very light) homework assignments. Amazing professor all around!
Professor Kiralla is a hands-off instructor; he organized the weekly material and the rest was up to you. Due dates change very often, so beware of that. He is a slow grader and doesn't provide much feedback. If you truly want to learn about psych. and not just get an easy "A", I wouldn't recommend him. Assignments did not reflect quiz material.
The best psychology teacher and I'm not even trying to gas him up like that. But, this is probably the first time I've ever enjoyed a class. I actually had him for general psych too and had to run it back. I'm telling you I learned so many new things in abnormal psych and again ACTUALLY enjoyed it. His instructions are clear and overall amazing!!!!
really really good teacher. knows what he is talking about. very flexible, if you need something just talk to him.
take him!!! you wont regret it!! So caring and understanding. His way of teaching is interesting and understandable. Made the class the most interesting class I took all year.
This professor is so kind and I love how he would bring current events into our discussion too. He was always prepared to help students and check in on them to make sure everyone was doing ok. I'm hoping to take more of his classes in the future.
This professor was the reason I got more interested in psychology. He is kind and his lectures are engaging. I would love to take more classes from him!
He's great, he is very timely in his grading and actually reads your work. I would defiantly recommend him for psychology, he knows what he's talking about and enjoys it.
Very nice professor. Reasonable amount of homework. It was 2 readings and 1 one page writing. Mostly grades upon completion, and is not very meticulous on completion. Will not let you fail the class. Interesting lectures.
I loved this async. online class. No textbook. Nicely organized. Not too many assignments/tests and they were easy. Plenty of extra credit offered. Reasonable amount of reading. Used short useful lectures and interesting/funny TedTalks or YouTube vids to teach which was fun. Will def take Kiralla again. Would be v hard fail this class. I recommend!
A very kind, caring, and thoughtful person. Professor Leo is very understanding and his classes are very fun. You have one research paper and one test and online quizzes but he makes them all easy. 10000/10 AMAZING PROFESSOR!!
leo is so knowledgeable and extremely welcoming of curiousity. he values all contributions to the discussion so much, including questions and comments. his quizzes and tests are extremely easy if you pay attention and are interested in the subject. there is a textbook, but they're kinda tedious and long, so its easier to just skim and youll be fine
AMAZING lecturer. His classes passed by so quickly and he never failed to be such a welcoming person to approach whenever you wanted to talk about something. The class was fascinating but know that you'll be in great hands if you get Professor Kiralla!
His lectures honestly shifted my view on so many things. Even though he seems really busy with a lot of things he always makes time for his students and his classes were thought out. The instructions for everything was clear and I honestly recommend taking this class to improve aspects of how you view your own life.
