He wont grade a single thing until the end of the semester. He has no clue how to teach and relies on the class to make the discussions for chapters he didn't even read. The only reason he has all these good reviews is because he offered 10 extra points at the end of the semester. He offers extra credit throughout the semester that you wont receive
Course has no homework, just reading assignments which are used for class discussions every meeting. As a professor, Prof. Faifman is dedicated to ensuring that students walk away from the course with knowledge obtained from the discussions/readings. The course has no unnecessary busywork. Would highly recommend taking this course with him!
He can seem a bit annoying at times, however it all comes from a genuine place of wanting you to learn. I took the 6 week course and boy was it a lot of reading. However there are no tests or quizzes of any kind. So there is no studying but still a lot of mandatory reading if you want to get the most out of this course. Take it if you want to learn
Prof. Faifman was the best! Overall, there were three books that you would have to read. After reading the books, you would act out the negotiations learned and discuss the chapters in class. Homework consisted of discussion boards. The class is all participation based. Great class, and I would take it again if I could.
He is an amazing teacher, I really liked his class. However, this class might not be for everyone, he doesn't use typical textbooks in his class which I loved. This class requires a lot of participation with almost 30% of your grade being based on that. There are no exams or quizzes, just weekly discussion boards that are pretty easy.
Professor Faifman was a great Professor. Be ready to read and participate in every lecture and being prepared is huge for this class because otherwise you can not contribute. He is accessible if you ever need help and he wants you to succeed. There were no tests or quizzes but there were group projects focusing on the concepts from the readings.
Professor Faifman is a great professor! BE PREPARED in his classes. It will help you so much. Also use up his office hours and ask him for help and feedback. It was so useful.
Overall a good class to start to learn the basics of negotiation. More practical based then readings with tests.
Most of his teaching is non-practical and almost all of his grading is participation-based rather than what you actually know. He's also very full of himself and a pretty strange guy. Is his class passable? Yes. Are there better teachers out there for MGT 355 where you can learn more while obtaining a better grade? YES. Don't do it to yourself.
Really interesting class. No tests besides discussion posts every week about the negotiation for the week and lessons learned from the chapter. You read 3 books throughout the semester which teach how to negotiate. If you don't read the books kind of pointless to attend class because in every class we discuss the readings. Overall easy class!
Professor Leon is a tough teacher, you have to attend if you want to pass. There's a semester-long project so choose your group wisely. The tests are long but if you study you're good.
Great Professor. It is a capstone course, but he is there to help you every step of the way. Also, he offers extra credit and its very funny.
Dr. Faifman is a great professor, you can tell he knows a lot. He is lecture heavy and you need to come to class prepared or else it will be awkward because the room is silent. He is funny, and seems intimidating but the class is very manageable to get good grades.
Great professor and great guy, there are two group presentations at the end of the semester but relatively easy.Would definitely recommend.
I took Faifman in my last semester at UT, he is one of my favorite professors from my time here. Take his class if you are: - interested in a corporate career (He is well versed in M&A) -okay with not having a clear set of guidelines on some projects Do not take his class if you: -don't like written exams -don't like lecture heavy classes
Prof Faifman is a great professor. Came into the class not knowing much about this class or having much interest in it and came out of it with a bunch of new skills and a whole lot better understanding of the intricacies running a business entails. He is wicked funny and super fair. The textbook is directly related to this course and easy read.
One group project the whole semester and two essay style exams
Overall good professor. Class is just a lot of work and writing. Exams are difficult but he grades pretty modestly.
If you come to class and do well on the group projects you will do well in the class. You need to read the textbook before coming to class, and the class discussions are mostly student-led. His exams are open-ended so he has an easier grading scale, and the final project is split up throughout the semester so make sure you choose a good group.
He really cares about his students and wants you to do well. His tests are pretty hard and take a while to complete but he grades very nicely and tries to give you as many points as possible. He truly wants you to succeed and gives you all the tools in order to do so. One group project that takes the whole semester so chose your group wisely.
He preps you very well for tests in the class and is a super nice guy who wants his students to do well. This class definitely has helped me feel more comfortable going into the workforce after college.
Professor Faifman's class can be difficult depending on your group as the course consists of only 2 exams and group projects which make up the majority of your grade. Classes are extremely lecture heavy.
Group project and presentations. Exams are very large but he is generous with the grades. Have to buy one book.
Lecture heavy, can be boring at points, group projects matter, that's all you do during the semester, pick your group wisely.
Project and lecture heavy
Class discussions are very helpful and seems like the class will be very hard in the beginning of the year but if you just pay attention in class and participate in the lectures the tests are straightforward and you can do well
Overall the class is compromised off of an 80 page group capstone project and 2 tests. There is no homework. If you dedicate time to the projects, it is an easy class. Allows 'cheat sheet' for the exams to help/assist with questions. Tests are multiple ESSAY questions so be ready to write your hand off.
Good professor, he challenges you to think. His classes are open communication with the class and the tests are not difficult. 2 tests and one big project- make sure you get a good group for the project. Also a funny guy
It is a tough class as it is a capstone class, but Professor Faifman made the class very clear and fun. Class lectures are usually very interesting and involve all students. I would encourage you to take him if you really want to learn something that would be useful for you once you graduate.
Professor Faifman is a great professor that wants to see his students succeed. His lecture styles are unique in that he does not use power points, it is more of a class discussion which helped me tremendously. Overall, he is a great professor and a personable guy that is willing to help.
The entire class is a group project so be sure to pick a good group and work hard on it. The exams are all essay questions but he is a generous grader. Lectures are helpful and the exams are basically exactly what is written in the textbook. You also get a whole piece of paper front and back as a cheat sheet on the exams.
Professor Faifman is a fair grader. Ask questions if you are confused about something. There are group projects that require a lot of research, but make you understand how businesses work and how they can be improved.
The exams are stressful because they are handwritten and not a lot of time, exam 1 was worse than 2. Make sure to read before class or he will be mad if you don't know what you're talking about. Overall the class wasn't too stressful and he's not too difficult to work with.
You are meant to do quite a bit of reading in this class, A lot of research is needed. The lectures sometimes feel as though they are dragging on. But, he is very knowledgeable and is a good teacher.
The class is based on a group paper you write during the entire semester so if you are stuck with a bad group good luck. There are 2 essay-style exams that aren't hard but it's nonstop writing for an hour and 10min. While I heard the other professors for the course didn't even have exams. He never gives a straight answer on what needs to be done.
431 is challenging information but Faifman does a good job teaching. His methods for teaching are very frustrating and can be confusing but at the end of the day, it prepares you for the assignments. Study for the exams and you'll do good. Pick groups for the semester-long (80-page project) well!!!!!!!
This was unlike any other class I've ever taken. Class lectures consisted of students asking questions that were never met with an answer. He would respond to every question with another question. Eventually, kids would just give up on the question and let it go. He didn't grade anything besides our 2 exams until the end of the sem. Don't take him.
He is a very easy going professor. We read books correlating with the course then present with our groups about the chapters of the books. Same homework weekly. Participation is a big part. Would take again
He is a great professor. You read three books and write negotiation journals every weekend. You also write about what is learned in class after every class as homework. No tests just group presentations based on the books we read. Need to be prepared to talk about readings because class is mostly based on conversation. Overall very enjoyable.
Professor Faifman is very knowledgable when it comes to negotiations and really helped me become a better a negotiator.
You need to read 3 books, they aren't very long, and expect to talk about them in class. There are 4 group projects throughout the semester based on chapters from the book. They are very easy, simple and insightful. You have journals to post each week, which are simple. Show up and participate and you will be fine. Great class.
Professor Faifman wants his students to get as much as possible information about negotiating and is very dedicated to teaching the class about negotiation. He also is caring of his students and involves participation in chapter discussions and negotiation games to help us understand how to negotiate better.
This was a great class. Learned a lot about negotiation techniques. There are no exams but 4 presentations or skits based on the 3 books you read and talk about each class.
It is a very interesting class, lots of engagement, discussion-based, and you have weekly reflection assignments, and Lots of extra credit opportunities. The professor makes the class very interesting and you learn a lot of useful things
You read about 3 chapter books for this class, some can be tough to read but also sometimes interesting, they relate to real life situations. He does take attendance and wants you to participate for your grade. You have 4 group presentations, simple easy. You have to post discussions every class, but also pretty short and simple.
Professor Faifman does a great job teaching you about negotiation through in class discussions. If you can't take criticism or a teacher calling you out, I wouldn't take him. You do learn a lot of life lessons in this class that you can use in school or in real life.
Professor Faifman is awesome! He really cares so much about his students for understanding the topics learned in this class, and also it is one of the better ENT electives you can choose. You have two discussion boards a week and a few projects, but honestly my favorite part of the class were the readings and discussions we would have every week.
Dr. Faifman's class was very beneficial, I am glad I took it as I learned a lot about understanding human psychology when negotiating. In the class, he has us write discussion posts on negotiations we have done in real life. I feel I became a better negotiator through the course of the semester. I appreciated his knowledge and expertise.
Professor Faifman wants to see all his students succeed. This course is definitely not for everyone though. It is extremely participation-based and is going to require you to speak in class a lot. If you do not like to speak in class do not take this course. Very simply organized, 3 Books, and 4 group projects. Great skills learned.
Professor Faifman is very smart and knowledgeable on the topics of negotiations. Class is pretty easy, no exams, a lot of reading, and presentations. Do the work and you will pass! I recommend and would take his class again.
I would recommend Professor Faifman. He is an easy going professor. Very knowledgeable. No tests, 4 group projects that are very easy. The only criteria for them is it has to be longer than 5-minutes and your parents would watch and it and say "wow my kid learned something at college". We also play Werewolf/ Mafia in class, lots of fun. 10/10 class
He is a great professor that cares a lot about his students success. He uses his experience in business world to help students improve their negotiation skill in an engaging way. I highly recommend taking his class.
Professor Faifman was super knowledgeable and didn't give any tests/quizzes. There are reading and discussion boards every week and a few group projects based on the chapters. Make sure to read and attend class and participate. Super helpful and interesting class- would definitely take again.
Professor Faifman is a great professor, he is very laid back and easy going. The class itself is pretty interesting and the only real assignments are a couple negotiation skits throughout the semester that are done in class with your classmates. He shares interesting stories from his life and tells it how it is. Very genuine guy, would recommend.
Professor Faifman is awesome. His teaching style is different, and at first I wasn't sure how I felt about the him as a professor but I honestly really enjoyed this class.
Dr. Faifman is really enthusiastic about negotiations and is always willing to help clarify concepts. There are no assignments besides daily/weekly discussion posts and 4 group projects. I would recommend taking this class if you want to learn more about negotiations.
This class was great and allowed me to learn way more about negotiations. In the class, there is no exam instead, there are 4 presentations or skits based on the three books you read and talk about every class. There is also homework based on the books and your own negotiation outside of class.
Great professor. The only homework is weekly discussions posts (which take like 5 mins to do), no tests, and the projects are group presentations where you create a negotiation and read it in front of the class. Super easy and would 100% take again.
Leon has great passion for the subject but can be confusing in his lectures. Test are hard but can get partial credit. Lot of writing.
Professor Faifman was amazing! We read three books throughout the semester, but they were all very interesting and not too long. The classes are set up so the students lead the lecture which was very interesting, but very helpful. Your grade is based on participation and three easy presentations that are done in groups. Take him if you can!
The main portion of your grade for this class is a group project. Make sure you pair up with people that are willing to do the work. When he answers question he doesn't do so in a straight forward way which can make assignments challenging at times. Get ready to write for this class! He is a great professor and knows his stuff.
Cool Fella
Took away alot from this class. Uses books throughout the semester which help understand the basis of negotiating. Group projects are relatively easy and an easy class to get credits and understand a key concept you will use in your career. Professor faifman was one the best I have taken.
NO EXAMS NO QUIZ NO HW kinda need the books - you have 4 presentations which show negotiation you don't turn anything for them it's a small group skit you preform for the class super easy. Each week you have a discussion board. He also doesn't use Power points to teach its very discussion based. attendance at the end sometimes
No powerpoint lectures, it s a socratic-type of class where we would read the chapter and discuss during class. It was a good change of pace from having most of my classes being all on reading Powerpoint. If you like Powerpoint lectures, this is not the class for you! This is more of a situational-based class, which throws you into a new mindset.
No tests, just 4 group negotiation skits that you present in front of the class and weekly journals and lessons learned. There are 3 books to read and we have class discussions about the books. Also gives extra credit opportunities by going to college of business events. I really enjoyed this class and liked his teaching style. Easy A.
Professor Faifman was the best professor I have had at UT. He creates a very inclusive environment and really encourages participation. The class is great for improving your public speaking and negotiation skills. Everything in this class can be applied to everyday life which is not something I can say about most classes I have taken.
This is a discussion based class, i liked being able to talk about the things that we were reading. I would take this class again.
He was a good professor, but the lectures were confusing & he asked a lot of rhetorical questions. Exams are a lot of writing, but he's a pretty easy grader. Make sure to read the book & focus in class and you'll feel prepared for exams. You get a cheat sheet on exams as well.
In the beginning I was skeptical because how he broke down the first exam and the course of the semester. Quickly realized he is a really smart and understanding professor, who knows as a senior we all have other obligations going on. As long as you put in some effort and be copasetic with him you should love this class
Professor Faifman truly cares about his students and making class meetings meaningful. All classes were discussion based. The discussions were fun, relevant and engaging. He is a fun and chill guy. Attendance is mandatory and counts towards your grade. I would definitely take Professor Faifman again!
He makes this class pretty easy. 2 exams, both written in class (it will take you the entire class to finish) but you get a written cheat sheet as well. Just study the textbook and you'll be fine. There is also a semester group project that isn't too bad if you are in a big group. Very lenient and understanding professor, would recommend!
Professor Faifman runs a very heavy participation class. There are many group projects and no exams. I would potentially take him again, but you have to be in class and present always.
Really knowledgable guy with lots of negotiation experience. Has very dry humor if you're into that. Literally show up and answer a few questions in class and you will get an A. Has extra credit opportunities.
Professor Faifman was very inspirational and taught the concepts very well. Show up to class and participate. This is a great class to take in a semester where you need an A... just show up and do what the guy tells you. Probably the most enjoyable class I've taken while at UT.
The professor himself is pretty solid. It's difficult to judge because the class itself is a waste of time but he tries to get the class involved. Every class is a class discussion. 2 exams, and 4 papers - not bad.
only has two exams and the course is mainly focused on your group project
I believe the class was overall very easy and engaging. The grading mainly revolves around two exams and your group project. Only thing I wish was different was having more time to take the exam and I wish it was multiple choice. Each exam is fully open ended, making it difficult to answer each question throughly.
Prof Faifman was great! No tests, all discussion based and group projects. Genuinely a really fun class and you will learn a lot if you just allow yourself to get out of your comfort zone. Extra credit opportunities are plentiful. I would definitely take him again.
Professor Faifman was a great professor. As long as you read the textbook and come prepared to class you will do just fine. No PowerPoint lectures everything is an in class discussion.
Professor Faifman is a great professor and he made our in class lectures very fun. There is a textbook and every class we did have to read a chapter or two for our in class discussion. The group project was great, he let us choose our partners and gave us great feedback on our papers. Highly recommend!
Genuinely one of the best professors/classes I've taken at UT. There are no exams just group projects. There are weekly HW assignments. Very discussion-based but very valuable information. You do have to read the books. I recommend taking his class if you can.
Faifman is a professor who enjoys engaging in discussions as often as he can in his classes. Expectations are to read the textbook chapter the night before class and have the students lead the lecture on what was in the chapter. Lectures might be confusing but review days before exams will give you all you need to know. Cheat sheet allowed!
One of my favorite professors at UT, he was so enthusiastic about the course and made the class enjoyable. The class is a little unstructured and he wants students to lead the discussion. Can be confusing at times, but isn't a tough grader. He allows cheat sheets on the exam. Participation matters, make sure you choose a good group!!
I enjoyed this class a lot, you have a long term group project for the whole semester focusing on a company and have a class discussion about chapter topics every class. Overall, I learned a lot of information from this class and very happy with the group I worked with for the group project.
Might be the easiest MGT431, Leon makes it easy to pass this class or even do well. Has written short answer exams where it usually takes the entire period but is so much better than multiple choice. Only one presentation at the final date or if you get picked for the final presentation in vaughn. Easy grader for papers, pick good groups!!
Professor Faifman challenges you to think critically. Whenever you raise your hand, prepare to have your ideas challenged. Classes are predominantly lecture focused on textbook readings with real world examples. Your biggest work item is the group paper all semester.
Stick with the guy. We all walked out of every class in the beginning of the semester wondering what we just walked out of, running in circles a lot of us said. Towards the end of the semester we warmed up to him and we found out he was a pretty decent guy. It's MGT431, it's going to be difficult, but I'd say he was a decent choice for the class.
Very easy going class, only read three books over the course and the only grades are group presentations that are easy going as it is like reading a script.
Professor Faithman is a very chill and funny. You just read 3 books, discuss them in class, and make skits at the end. The books teach you a lot of stuff and it is actually very helpful in real life. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone at UT.
Prof. Faifman led an enjoyable MGT 355 class. He demonstrated ability in what he teaches and does a satisfactory job pointing out exactly what it is he wants to get across. Lots of outside of class reading, in-class discussion, and discussion posting. Overall a good class, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Interesting class that is not your run of the mill lecture and test set up. The work can be tedious but was not hard. Learned practical information as it forces you out of your comfort zone.
In this negotiation class I learned a lot that was practical to my everyday life. The professor is a hard grader but it's important to show to class and participate in class. We read 3 books throughout the semester that related to class material and we had 4 presentations. I would take this class again with Mr. Faifman.
Class consisted of 2 written exams with a cheat sheet and a semester long group project. Faifman is a funny guy and was flexible if we needed to push back a due date. The exams are open response so get ready to write. Overall, was not an overwhelming class and recommend taking 431 with Professor Faifman.
It was a pretty easy class: a 90-page paper and two exams. He expects students to lead the class but won't tell them when they're getting something wrong. I'd take the class for an A and lack of homework, but I didn't have a good time and didn't learn anything. He's super nice, though! He gives great feedback on the paper. Choose your group wisely.
Professor Faifman is great and is very enthusiastic about the topic he is teaching. The course in general is a difficult course but if you read for each lecture and prepare for each test, you will do well.
He talks very philosophically about business activities and will make you question "why"
Awesome teacher and awesome guy. I took this class to fulfill an elective and I'm glad I did!
The six week negotiation course Prof. Faifman taught was highly effective in conveying applicable material into my life. We had no papers/exams, as every class was catered towards discussions from books we read. We read three books, and presented with a group after finishing each one. Prof. Faifman also offered extra credit opportunities.
Although I took this course over the summer, I thought it was one of the best courses I have taken here at UT. It teaches you skills you will definitely need in the business world and I have developed many skills I did not have prior to the class. It is 4 group projects with simple assignments throughout the week.
Professor Faifman really cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. We read 3 books in the class and for each book there is a group presentation. The way the course was organized was very good.
Great professor, has us read a lot and discuss chapters in class.
Very solid Professor. Will always help you out with any problems and or explanations. Very enjoyable class.
Although I took this course over the summer, it was definitely one of my favorite I have taken in my time here at UT. Professor Faifman is amazing and keeps the discussions interesting. It is 4 group projects which makes the course easy to navigate.
Great professor and classes would even get out early most days.
Chill classroom
His class was easy, particip
Very chill professor, classes were easy, the main things we did was read, have class discussions, and do presentations based on book chapters
Professor Faifman's class is challenging but rewarding. Engage with the lectures and readings, and use unstuckstudy AI for efficient study prep. Chose your group wisely - the semester-long project is key.
One of the best classes I've taken at UT. He cares about everyone in the class and wants everyone to succeed. Class consists of reading chapters from different books and discussing the material in the chapter. No exams, just presentations after every book. Very insightful and I remember a lot of the material!
Professor Faifman is a great teacher with insightful lectures!
Guy is awesome, class is great take this course
Faifman is a balanced professor who gets across his point while still having a laid-back class. As long as you participate occasionally and do your part in the presentations you won't get lower than a B.
Professor Faifman is amazing! His class is genuinely enjoyable. There's no homework or tests, which makes the class stress-free and lets you focus on learning through interactive activities. He has humor and makes every lecture fun and interesting. If you want a class that's both informative and laid-back, I highly recommend taking him!
Dr. Faifman is a great professor who has true knowledge in the subject. His class is designed as reading three books and then discussing each chapter when you come to class. No Lectures. One group project for every book. Overall its a fun class he's a great person and I highly suggest taking this course.
Professor faifman, is an amazing teacher. You will learn a great amount about yourself and how to negotiate the right way! most of this class is based on group negotiation presentations (3 or 4) and weekly discussion posts after every class. He is a great teacher, and you will learn a lot. Attendance is mandatory.
I would recommend this class because it was easy and laid back. No tests or quizzes just presentations and class discussions. As long as you keep up with reading the chapters and completing the short lessons learned after each class you'll be fine and get a good grade.
He is great, lectures are fun and the content is actually useful for life. Three very good books are used and lots of playing mafia with the class
really good professor, makes class interesting. you have to read a lot.
Prof. Faifman does a good job at keeping the class interesting but doesn't make it overwhelming compared to other classes as far as work load goes. Wouldn't say attendance is super mandatory but obviously show up when you can. As long as you keep up with the readings, participate, and do the lessons learned you'll be fine.
He really wants everyone to come out of the class as a better negotiator. Class is mostly discussing chapters of the book after reading and then do discussion posts to reflect on what we had just learned. He doesn't lecture and makes the classroom a good environment to get everyone to participate.
Professor Faifman is one of the best professors I have taken at UT. If you can take him - DO IT! 10/10 recommend.
Amazing professor. Very easy class, no tests or papers.
Definitely recommend, great class
3 books, all in-class participation, no exams or quizzes, couple of group projects- easy to do, attendance matters, discussion posts after each class, Easy to do well as long as you show up and read the material.
No homework besides reading chapters. No exams. Like 3 easy presentations throughout the semester. He doesn't grade anything until the semester is over though so you never know what you have in the class. But he's chill and we play games during class. Really easy class tbh
He is the GOAT. #1 Leon Faifman. #2 Lebron James. #3 Michael Jordan
I have never had a better professor in my 18 years of schooling I will always look back and use this class in the business world. #racks #getting money #werewolf
Only 4 presentations in total. Based on 3 books. No tests or papers.
One of the best professors I've had at UT. Definitely take him if you can.
Great guy overall, always has a smile on his face when teaching his students. Never did a power point presentation as the class leads the discussions over the 1 chapter you read for homework. This made class enjoyable and I learned a lot more since he provided real life examples during these discussions. 100% should take him
Professor Faifman's class has been very beneficial for my negotiation skills. One of those classes where you will remember and use the skills you learned in class for the rest of your life. Very chill professor and very understanding. If taking this class or any other classes he teaches, I recommend him.
Overall, this class was straightforward. If you put in the effort, you'll get the grade that you deserve. There is a lot of participation and discussion so be prepared to talk when registering for this class. Less of an emphasis on test and quizzes.
3 books to read with no tests or papers. Great professor overall with solid feedback.
Definitely learned a lot in this class, take Faifman.
This class is very informative. We were required to read three books that were centered around techniques of negotiating and reading body language. There are no tests in this class, just discussion boards. I would recommend taking professor Faifman if you are interested in learning how to negotiate.
Great class overall!
Great professor and dude. No tests no papers no quizzes. Just have to show up and participate. 3 projects based on 3 books with free online PDF versions.
I loved this class and the professor, classes are dependent on if you have read or not and you get participation points for each class so talking and contributing in class is a big deal for your grade. You need to read before every class but it is somewhat a fun reading to do. There is no busy work and no tests but several group presentations.
Fun and easy class. Participation is important as the class is mostly discussions but they are interesting and he is super chill. No textbooks, its just three books throughout the semester and you just read a chapter before each class. No tests and hardly any homework, only discussion posts and a five minute group skit after each book.
TAKE NEGOTIATIONS WITH HIM!! 3 really interesting books to read (not like textbooks) small presentations, no homework (besides reading chapters), no tests, just class discussions. I actually learned the most in this class. We played negotiation games for extra credit. Just take this course with him you will not regret it...but don't skip classes
AMAZING Professor. He is really passionate about the subject and it is not hard to get a good grade. Make sure to pick a good team because you will be working with the same group the whole semester. I would re take this Professor over and over again. TAKE HIM!
Great Professor. Loves to challenge his students and make them better negotiators!
Leon Faifman was really nice and understanding. There was barely any homework and if there was it was just a discussion board of what you learned in class that day. 4 presentations throughout the semester and they were really easy. It wasn't powerpoint presentations it was just a little group skit with a script you had to present. Very easy class.
Professor Faifman was the absolute best. Guy is super chill and the class was actually enjoyable to be in. The only homework is lessons that you learned in class and there are negotiation journals every week. Overall, I highly reccomend taking this class with him.
He is a passionate and caring professor (and funny). Definitely one of my favorite professors at UT. Overall an easy class, and you will learn a lot about negotiating!! take him.
Overall very informative, really fun lectures, make sure to read the books for credit in class!
Awesome guy, very funny, creates a great class atmosphere. Class is fairly simple but I haven't received any of my grades yet - everything is graded at the end. The more you participate the more you will get out of the class.
Good professor, cool guy, interesting class. AND NO EXAMS! One thing I didn't like is that he posts discussions as homework, but would forget some weeks to post them.
Thanks to Professor Faifman's dedication, I not only gained a deeper understanding of course material but also developed skills to use outside the classroom. Their passion for teaching and commitment to their students' growth is truly unparalleled. If you have the chance to take a class with Professor Faifman, don't hesitate you won't regret it!
I won't lie this class is very easy. You mainly just have to show up. The class is set up to so that you read a chapter before going to class and talk about that chapter in class. You get graded on showing up and participation. There are no tests and no quizzes. The professor can be fun, just make sure to participate.
Great guy, really genuine
Great Prof. for an elective course and you learn a lot of useful skills that you can apply to real world situations.
amazing teacher
Ima be honest take this class if you want a blow off class and don't care about your grades. But if you do he won't share any of your grades the entire semester until they are already in the final grade book without explanation of why. Read the books don't read the books he doesn't have a clue what's in them. Just gotta talk and participate.
This is the best professor to take at the end of your college career. He is very caring, despite his rigorous exterior. He acts like he has no idea what he's doing so you explain it, but he knows the best way to learn is by teaching others. He will push you to be your best, and is overall an excellent mentor! He also keeps lectures interesting.
Professor Faifman helps us learn a lot. I think I learned more in this class than in any other class before. Def take this and him if you can.
I really enjoyed this class, it was super chill but also informational, we learnt about body language and negotiation techniques, what to do and what not to do. everything was explained with activities and games so it was really interactive.
No exams, but you have a weekly journal due every week, and have to write lessons learned after every class.
Professor Faifman really cares that you actually understand the material. The class is mainly participation and talking about the readings in the 3 books. You also have 4 straight forward presentations about negotiation. I would really recommend this class.
Great Professor, very funny, very fun class. Be prepared to come into class and discuss chapters everyday ,and usually go full time.
You should take this class!
Professor Faifman is a good professor. It's lecture heavy, but in the way that you have to tell him about what you read in the chapters of the book. As long as you do your reading and participate in class should be a relatively easy class.
He a good professor
Good guy, take him
One of the most impactful professors I've had at UT. His use of real-world examples and practical advice makes class discussions engaging and relevant. He also fosters a welcoming and collaborative environment, helping students feel comfortable and connected, which makes class presentations far less intimidating.
Great professor, 3 group presentations and discussion boards after every class. Would take again.
If you don't participate in class discussions you won't get much out of the class. Each class you take the professor through the chapter so make sure you read the textbook, the class wasn't hard and you can get a lot from it if you pay attention. Professor Faifman is a really nice guy and knows how to keep us engaged, I would def take again!
Professor Faifman is a very relaxed professor, often asking us how we want the class time to be spent. The biggest thing to keep in mind is DO NOT take this class if you don't like to participate in class and group discussions. If no one participates in class, then he will do pop quizzes, but he does not enjoy doing that so please participate!!
Great class. Highly recommend taking this as your MGT elective if you need one. Faifman is smart, fun, and knowledgeable about the subjects. Interesting books (3), not textbooks for once. Good, meaningful class discussions that are worth being a part of. No exams, quizzes, but attendance and participation are everything. Fun interactive activities.
He is very nice and informative. His class is not boring, but you do have to participate a lot. Very unique ways to learn content which is nice. He does not put grades in, so you won't know your grade until the end of the semester.
Loved this course and the professor always kept the class fun and engaging.
Great professor! Learned a lot while having fun!
The professor is very intelligent and knowledgable. You don't use your computer in class, its discussions the whole time; I usually don't like classes like this, but it was very enjoyable. You will learn very valuble things in this class. This class is not for people that are too scared to talk, as your participation is most of the grade
Really enjoyed this class with professor Faifman. He made it engaging and fun! would def recommend taking him.
I loved this class! Lectures were based on the chapter books we read outside of class and he made it easy to understand when discussing them in detail in class. Participation is necessary but he makes it fun to stay involved. He was so funny and kept class entertaining!
I would take this professor again as well as this class. I am not a traditional learning. I need to be hands-on, and this class is heavy on that. We always did activities that helped us practice what we learned that day. I helped a great deal.
I had a lot of fun in this class, the professor really pushes you to work alongside your peers and to participate in class, also he gives a lot of extra credit wink wink ;)...........
Good professor, requires a lot of reading and in class participation is a huge grade for the class. Overall easy and fun if you put in the effort to read.
Professor Faifman is a great professor and would definitely take him again! At the beginning of the semester, I was intimidated but as class went on and we got to know him he is super funny and caring. He wants the best for his students always. You will take a lot away from his class!
I really annoyed this course and I thought how he taught it was very helpful because you actually learn the material. He doesn't have exams which is nice just short group presentations that are really simple. Your participation does matter in this class because it is a discussion style course. Overall one of my favorite professors and courses.
Faifman is a very good guy and wants you to succeed, this is a participation heavy class and you need to talk otherwise you probably won't pass
Professor Faifman was very passionate about the class. He does not do lectures in class. He expects you to read the content outside of class in preparation for discussion. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities through negotiation activities and off campus events. Overall, he was a good professor.
I would go to this class every day, it puts what you learn into use, and you won't get bored.
Very fun and engaging class theres 3 books you will read together as a class for homework and discuss the chapters together in class and write a discussion post for each chapter. He does 2 chapters at a time so 4 chapters and week. No outside homework other than the readings chapter discussion post and negotiation journal post. highly recommend.
If you get the chance, take this professor. This is by far the most insightful class i have taken at UT. He doesn't teach off slide presentations and helps you through learning the material. He is also very nice and funny as well as understanding. Just be ready to participate but nothing bad, even if you are shy. definitely recommend.
Very straightforward and easy class. You have to read 3 books throughout the semester, about two chapters per class, and discuss them in class. No homework. 3 group presentations that are about 5 minute skits with a group of 3. No tests either.
He is very knowledgeable, approachable, and passionate about the subject, always willing to give feedback and help students improve. Highly recommend this class if you want to sharpen your communication, persuasion, and critical thinking skills. Take it seriously, and you'll walk away with tools you'll actually use in your career.
Leon is a great professor and really cares about his students. I've used the stuff I learned in his class more than in any other class I have taken at UT. Show up to class, participate in discussions, and you will do well. Definitely would take again, and wish I had him for other classes.
Great Professor and truly cares about his students to make sure you understand the topics. There are 3 books you have to read but they aren't textbooks so it isn't too bad. Just show up to class and participate. 4 presentations very straight forward. Learn useful tatics for the future.
Professor Faifman is one of my favorite profs I've had. His expectations were clear from the beginning of the semester, there is very little work to be done in the class, but you learn so much. No exams, occasional pop quizzes, and 3 mini presentations. He really cares about his students and wants them to understand the importance of negotiation.
Faifman is the kind of professor you want to have for an elective course. He kept the content interesting and kept the classroom engaged. His lectures are literally just reviewing the chapters of the book you are supposed to read prior to class, then after class writing a summary of what you learned. No exams, just show up and participate. Easy A
Professor Faifman is a great professor and you will learn a lot in this class. It is not a hard class and has no tests or quizzes but you will have to read a few books about negotiation. It is a straightforward class and as long as you participate you'll do great.
Super fun class, the students make up the classes most of the time, we do half the talking and bring up what we found in the chapters every class, the professor helps us when we run out of things to say. He is really experienced and knows what he is talking about. Real negotiation skills learnt here!
Very straightforward and easy class. You read chapters of the textbook before every class and discuss them in class. The group project is a semester long paper that has 6 milestones and you work in groups of 5-6. The exams are a little difficult, but they are essay based so the grading is easier.
Exams are reasonable as long as you read the textbook. He grades very fairly and the average for the exams are high. Make sure to get a good group, you will work with them all semester.
Good professor and has a certain style of teaching. The class is mostly built around your group project for the whole semester, but there will be 2 exams for the semester with no final. Very flexible with due dates and encourages participation in class when talking about the textbook.
No lectures, only discussions. Dr. Faifman only focused on the project itself not the business. If you like having structure and a strict guideline to follow. This class is not for you. He wants his students to get frustrated so they can learn. If you don't like discussion only classes, this is also not for you. He is a good prof. not for everyone.
Great professor, but he has a way of explaining the material that makes it challenging. He doesn't fully explain the material, so sometimes it's trying to pull teeth to get an answer out. Tough grader too. Our group was doing our paper on Stageworks and he just wrote F NO. So, look out for the confusing grading. Tests are easy. A- averages.
Exams are fine as long as you read the book and know the material. Is a fair grader. Expects participation so make sure you come to class prepared.
A- averages
He is very nice and funny too. He is always trying to help and gives good feedback on the semester project. His exams are ease (A range).
He doesn't assign any homework to the class. The bulk of the course grade is made up of the big group project you work on through the entire semester and the exams. The exams are easy and he allows the class to use a cheat sheet during the exam, however, the exams are only open ended question so your hand will be hurting at the end of each exam.
His class structure was difficult due to the lectures being student led. It is group project based with two exams. Both exams are written and will take the full two hours. I liked his feedback and I felt the exams were fair, but I didn't like the structure of the course.
Faifman is a great teacher who makes you learn the things that matter, while he does not focus on grades, if you do the work you will get an A.
As MGT431 is a capstone class, Dr. Faifman treated the class like it. He gave us time to critically think and get our work done in terms of the large group project that was the bulk of the semester. Smart and respectable guy, knows what he is talking about as the class is all discussions. Tests are 6 open-ended questions with cheat sheet.
When I took this class, It was split between one semester long project with two tests. The tests were not hard material-wise, but both were all essay-style questions. He is a super easy grader and allows for resubmissions on project parts if you do poorly. Although his lecture style can be a bit annoying with rhetorical questions.
Group paper during semester based on the textbook In class discussions are led by students The paper is a ton of work but its do-able He makes the learning of the book connect to paper well. Tests are HARD! A lot of writing, but you get a cheat sheet Grading is based on effort Do the work get a good grade. Do not take this if you dont want to work
Not a bad choice for 431. No set lectures, just verbal discussions of textbook readings. One project throughout entire course, goes alongside with textbook. Always open to help, but challenges you to think about it first. He won't just give you the answer. Overall not a bad class as long as you get a good group you'll be fine.
The group paper is the most important part of the class. Find a good group and you will be ok for the semester. You will get mad with him many times but in the end everything is fair. Put in a lot of effort in everything you do and things will work out.
This class gave me a different perspective on business and I was able to learn alot. you will need to read the chapters required to understand what is going on in class. Once you do the exams and paper will come easy to you. Faifman is a great professor and very understanding and will help you get through this class
Great teaching style.Seems to be living what he teaches and carries himself in a respectable way.The course doesn't have much work at all so attendance and participation are heavy. The activities are actually really fun. Definitely would recommend.
Great professor overall, lots of games, easy communication, nice guy.
Professor Faifman is a really funny guy who teaches valuable lessons that can be applied outside of the classroom. His negotiations course was easy, there were discussion boards required to complete at the end of the day after each class, only presentations, and no exams. He's very chill, just make sure to show up and participate.
This class was interesting like we literally did nothing but somehow my grade was bad.
Great teacher, makes sure everyone is involved and understands. No exam for my class and we read 3 books.
He was great just just be prepared to know the reading. And to talk about the reading its not textbooks they are just different negotiation books and body language books.
He's a great teacher, with the content being taught in this course is applicable to the real world. His class is also relatively easy as long as you read the chapters required and are willing to participate in the class discussions.
Professor Faifman's class was one of the most engaging and enjoyable courses I've taken. He truly cared about each student's success and made learning both fun and meaningful. His passion for teaching and dedication to helping us understand the material made a huge difference in my experience.
If you are okay with no presentations and a syllabus for all instructions on how to complete the assignments this class is not too difficult. Dr. Leon expresses time and time again that he will not give out busy work so be prepared to participate in class and always do the reading before hand.
He is really nice and very good teacher!! But get ready to read and participate. Would take him again
Really caring professor! overall not a difficult class if you get the job done on time.
Prof Faifman is organized and explains things in a way that's easy to get. We did a semester long group project that was actually interesting and connected to what we learned. Exams are open note. He's always willing to help and gives fair grades with helpful feedback. Just make sure you read textbook so you are ready for in class discussions.
Professor Faifman designs his class in a way that does not include busywork but instead includes things that actually achieve the goal of reaching certain learning objectives. For MGT 431 participation and engagement during the semester is key to passing this class. Overall it was not too difficult, and I would take him again.
Great professor and fair grader, only if you do the assingments though.
Great professor with very good lectures. I had him for a 4 hour night class (from 6-10pm) and he kept us engaged in conversation the whole time. Great class and great professor.
Overall, the class was was much more difficult than expected. Participation is a big part of the grade so be prepared in class. Also make sure that you work good in teams because a big portion of the overall grade is based on a group project. Exams are pretty simple if you listen, participate, and read the textbook chapters.
Content difficult to ingest sometimes. Faifman did great job explaining. Heavy on group projects. Takes up the entire semester on one of them. Read chapters assigned before class to be ready for class discussions.
He's a fair teacher. Won't make exceptions, but relatively enthusiastic professor. Everything was laid out clearly. Honestly seemed like a very easy class, except for the group project. Exams are rough and a little unclear on what the actual question asks, but that's just my perception.
Overall good professor, get what you put into the class. Expect a big group project as it's a Capstone class and the class is heavily based on open discussion lectures and analytical thinking. The text book is only used to give you a basis of the knowledge required and the rest is open to discussion and real world applications of the knowledge.
Great course, learned a lot by getting to work with a real company. Faifman's expects you to read the chapters before class and you will lead the lectures. This learning style was beneficial and got everyone involved. Overall, great class and not overly challenging.
The lectures were super engaging and actually made me excited to learn about business management. I walked away with a ton of useful knowledge and new ways of thinking about how companies run. Highly recommend taking this class.
Three books that are mandatory to read, as long as you do the homework assigned and participate you'll do well. Easygoing professor that gives thorough explanations. Gives good advice both for the class and other classes.
Good teacher overall, Recommended
The lectures were engaging and made me excited to learn about business management. I walked away Highly recommend taking this class.
Made the lectures entertaining and relate to students. Two exams that are essay response questions. Nothing knew, everything is in the textbook and talked about in lectures. The group you pick the first week you are with for the whole semester. Almost all the assignments are group related. I recommend taking this class and professor.
The class was good, sometimes lengthy classes if taking 6-9:50 but had a break and was easy to pay attention and participate in lectures.
A good professor, he values participation from the class to move the lecture, which I appreciated. Has extensive real-world experience and knowledge. Exams are free response, short but a little complex, and he makes sure that his tests are setting you up to actually test your knowledge not memorization
Funny professor who actually cares about the class content. Lots of reading at home then you come to class to discuss the readings as a class. Make sure you pick a good group for the project.
Professor Faifman is a very nice professor. His classes are mainly conversation based classes that really get students to think outside the box about complex management topics. Homework in the class is mainly reading. It is also a writing heavy class but the consulting reports are fun because you can be creative with it.
This is certainly a class that you can't walk in and stumble out with an A or B. If you put in hard work the class should be pretty doable. Dr. Faifman certainly cares for his students and is very avaliable for help on the capstone papers.
Great professor to take for this course. Readings are done before class, then talked about in class to understand the content. Very accessible outside of class, too.
He's fine, exams are fine its just based off the reading and its all group assignments the whole time, make sure you participate in class for credit, he just lowkey doesn't know how to explain the work and is very vague with his directions.
I hope you don't mind not having your grades shown, and being surprised with a grade at the end of the semester
everyday I would drive to this class I prayed, hoped, wished, someone would ram into the side of my car on Kennedy.
This guys a complete jack ass and won't help you. Refrain from hiss class and attitude.
Amazing and learned a lot.
No lectures, reading and presentation heavy.
one big group project throughout the semester and one test with cheat sheet, I enjoyed the class and the group project was fun
I learned so much in this class!
There's a strong focus on in class discussions. You'll need to read a book and pretty much explain to him what the chapter talks about and he'll re-explain to the class what was just explained. There's a test that involves memorizing the whole book. There's a also a group long semester project and his instructions are ambiguous.
He's not a bad professor, and it's not a bad class. He just doesn't explain things clearly. For example, you can ask as many questions as you want, but you'll probably be more confused afterwards. I wouldn't take his class again at least for this one. For his negotiation class, i do recomend it though.
he cares about participation but is a easy grader for all work
The class was good, I would take it again. Only 1 big exam and multiple presentations, overall really rewarding. Professor Faifman is great, super relaxed and understanding, gives hard feedback, I think, because he cares about the subject, which is good. Like the class, I will recommend it.
The class is very discussion focused and reliant on the textbook. He works off student discussions which can be difficult and annoying. The group project is a focus throughout the semester. Fairly easy grader for everything. Exam was not difficult.
A lot of group presentations. Gives a lot of feedback and you think you're grade will be lower than what it actually is
This class is super chill, just pick a good group, and you'll be good. We also got two pages front and back for our exam, and everyone did really well.
Professor Faifman is a super cool guy. His class is based on presentations and there is only one exam. We were allowed 2 pages front/back and everyone did really well. He gives good feedback on projects and is always willing to guide you in the right direction.
Great class!
Overall great class, great professor!
Super interesting class and I definitely learned a lot about negotiation. Just make sure you actually read the books and come to class ready to participate more than once. 4 group presentations, no exams.
Super fun and interactive class. As long as you are prepared and participate, you will get a good grade.
This class was great, the more you put into it the more you get out. Participation matters, it's a negotiations class so be ready to negotiate. No quizzes or homework. Great guy, make sure class is fun.
Learned so much about negotiating and my favorite part of class was coming in and playing mafia (basically like among us). Favorite subject we learned was reading people's body language which was interesting.
The lectures are all discussion based. Theres no tests or homework besides reading the book and a couple of mock negotiations you present. Just show up to class every time and engage in the class wide conversation and you'll do well. Pretty easy if you just show effort
Great teacher, real world application and use of class time along with fun activities that related to the course. No exams, quizzes just some journal entries that are very easy and help retain material overall good class would take again
He's a good teacher for negotiations. I learned a lot. You won't know your grade until the end of the semester. Participate a lot. you read three books and discuss 2 chapters each class.
He is a great professor and knows how to teach instead of giving busy work. The only thing I don't like is not knowing my grade until the end of the semester. He does not input any grades until the end. Besides that I recommend taking him if you want your negotiation skills to improve. No exams!
This class—if you show up, you'll pass. Attendance was 30% of your overall grade. No exams and quizzes. Just have to read the books and give a presentation at the end on a chapter. Very nice guy and would take this class again
Professor. Faifman is really good at teaching negotiations, fun and participation matters a lot. The only thing I did not like, is I did not know my grade until the end of the semester.
He cares about his students and wants them to learn, be prepared to participate in class discussions. This class is solely discussion based, which means there aren't any tests but you do need to read the books. I would take this class over and over again because he is such a great professor and he makes the discussions actually funny.
Your grade in this class depends on whether you can read 2 chapters before each period or not, and whether you participate during discussions. Professor Faifman is an intellectual that never disappoints with good stories, if you show up and talk you can guarantee yourself a good grade.
Really cool guy, doesn't show grade until end of semester.
Great negotiations professor. Intimidating at first, just get ready to read and participate. Very easy class, you just have to participate and read.
Negotiation was a really good class - I learned a lot of useful skills. Not too challenging, just weekly reading
The class is easy if you go to class and do the homework. A lot of participation.
No exams, 4 presentations, each class the students had to talk about the book we were supposed to read
Pretty easy class if you pay attention and participate. He is a good professor and uses real life examples to connect the topics from class to the real world.
You learn a lot about negotiatin and you have to read the chapters before class then you discuss what you read. You have 3 group presentations throughout the semester, zero tests, 2 lessons learned assignments a week, and 1 negotation journal assingment a week. I recommend the class.
class was easy, kinda confusing because he doesn't explain the assignments that well and you don't know your grade until the end, no exams tho
Great prof would take him again if i could
Very discussions heavy based on weekly readings. Easy class if you attend frequently.
He is nice but does not give you any feedback on your work and does not put in grades, so it is hard to know how you are doing in the class. Attendance isn't mandatory but your grade is mostly based on class discussions and participations, so you need to be there and have read the material.
Discussion based class, so if you are shy do not take it. Overall, fun and easy class.
Really chill professor. Interesting subject material, really easy class, no tests.
good professor, I would take him again. However, no grades were entered the entire semester. Flexible with excused absences, engaging lectures
I liked this class. A lot of class discussion, 4 group presentations, no exams, and journals every week. Overall, professor is great. I would take this class again.
Every class was super engaging and fun. Played games on a lot of days towards the end of the semester.
Greatest of All Time
Easy classes, heavy discussion base. Have to read chapters outside of class & discuss them in class. Does not put in grades throughout the semester so you will not know what you have in the class until it shows up at the end of the semester
Very straightforward course. Would take him again, even though I am not sure what my grade will be.
Would take class again
Extremely knowledgable and passionate about negotiation. No textbooks, just 2 books you need off of amazon or online. Whole class is reading a book chapter before class and then discussing it in the next class. Class is graded extremely heavily on participation in class discussions, and the rest is group negotiation presentations on situations.
No grades are posted during the semester, so I do not know if I passed or not. You have to read the required books because he makes the students run the class and he expands on the info, talk more= better class. No tests, only mini script presentations, which are easy. Provides opportunities for extra credit.
There are no tests, quizzes, or exams in this class, but participation and attendance are mandatory, or else your grade will be affected.
awesome guy, really funny. most of the time takes up the whole class but its honestly fun when he pulls out card games for the class. also doesn't show you your grade until the end of the semester.
he is "tough" or "scare" us in the beginning but he does so we actually put effort on everything we do. gives feedback all the time and help us develop
Doesn't use the projector much, just talks a lot, so classes can get a little boring, but overall decently funny and good insight into international business.
I enjoyed the class discussions. He wants students to participate and think for themselves. Course can feel disorganised and he might make the test “sound” hard, but he is an easy grader.
he makes his students submit a good rate my professor for extra credit. easy class, good professor, but some of these ratings might be inaccurate.
