Dr. Brin teaching methods are very poor. He seen to favor math major students over non math major students. I recived a D- as a student, and I gave him an F as a teacher.

Brin is a very unfair grader. On exams, he present material that he does not cover during review. He will teach specialize knoledge(MAT) like general knoledge(art and literature). That is a NO! NO!

This class seems easy, but he makes it harder than it should be. He asks stupid questions on the quizzes and then grades them toughly. He is NOT compassionat toward students.

Hes **** for one, and treats students like they are in 1st grade. He makes you play boring games all day, and makes his own rules up. He testes you on how well you can memorize his rules. Seems like an English Comprehension course at times. I Rec. him

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!It seems ok in the beginning but as the material gets harder, he doesn't explain things well. He does not go over the quizzes well, doesnt give enough time to complete them and isnt very compassionate about situations that could arise.

IF YOU VALUE YOUR GPA AT ALL DO NOT GET THIS GUY!!!! The highest grade in our class was a C+ and almost the whole class got a C- or worse. I the least helpful professor I've ever had and he gets pissy whenever you ask a question.

I've only had Brin for 178, and if you have the choice, don't take him. Basically, as I've heard from anyone who takes him or any teacher that knows him, if you don't understand what he's doing in class he doesn't feel the need to furthur explain. No reviews, quiet guy, nerdish tucked-in type.AVOID

He may be a little boring, but the material is not tough. As you can see form these other comments we arent dealing with the smartest people around. I can't stand the class only because it is so slow, because these people take forever to grasp simple concepts. Don't blame the teacher for your stupidity.

I don't know what everyone is talking about! He is the first math teacher I have had who is clear and to the point. Not only that, but he is always there to help when you need it! I am actually starting to like math now, seeing as how i can actually understand it thanks to him!

There is nothing nice that can be said about this man. He moves slow, throws curve balls on the test, and ultimately doesn't care if you pass or fail. Honestly the worst teacher I've ever had at this school.

He is extremely confusing. He does not make any sense. When he teaches, it is like he is talking to himself. My advice is to avoid his class at all costs. But as far as intelligence goes, I believe he ranks at the level of genius. But he is difficult to talk with. He constantly refutes you, even if you are right.

This guy is a disgrace on this school...hes not professional..he doesnt have any communication skills...tons of homework..not helpfull. sarcastic and rude at times..please dont ever take him.....i started with 25 students in the class at the end of semester we had 6 out which 2 failed..no kidding ...wat a shame....

The guy acts like he doesnt care about mathematics. He shows little enthusiasm. When you have a question, he always says you are wrong. He is ready to fall asleep on you when you go to his office. He shrugs his shoulders when you have a question, and asks you to figure it out. He is obsessed with Linux, and uses cryptic arcane programs

Dr. Brin is very smart and really knows the material, but he is a terrible teacher. He's sarcastic and rude to students, and sometimes refuses to answer questions.

Every post on here says this guy is horrible...I can't say I agree. Yes, the tests are difficult but if you study, they're no problem. As far as helpfulness, every time Ive gone to his office for help, he's dropped what ever he's doing to answer my questions. If you want to actually learn something, take a class with this guy.

The worst professor I have ever had. He can be very rude, and his blank expression gives you know clue as to what he is thinking. He answers questions, "how should I know, why are you asking me". He assigns insanely difficult homework without a clue how to finish. He teaches a bunch of uncorrelated techniques. The worst class experience ever!!

Pros: Hes a nice guy, and works with you if you need extra help. Cons: Really confusing grading and homework system. General: Some people hated him, but I like him. Straitforward class: If you do the work, you will get a good grade.

I found Brin to be a very unrealistic teacher. He expected perfection. I had to drop his class, although I was not failing, I was not doing well. I did ALL of my work, and I went to EVERY class, and I studied MORE than I ever have, it was just impossible.

I like the guy and his teaching style, but he grades on only 3 tests and makes them rediculously hard... the final was imposible. expects perfection. on one test he made a mistake making a problem unanswerable... so he gave us HALF credit on it...wow... recomended... but only if you have no other hard classes or no life. study your ass off

He is HARD!! the test take forever to do, and are hard, and grades on the smallest detail. He does teach the stuff well though, so you learn it but he does grade fairley.

I had Brin for a low-level math course; by all means the course should have been a breeze. The only thing bigger than Brin's head was his attitude. He is unclear, unhelpful, and was disrespectful to many of the students. He is the worst teacher I have ever had, and should not be allowed to deal with the public.

I thought Dr Brin was a good professor and I learned a lot in his class. He expects students to be very precise, but it will help when taking other professors. His tests are very tough and final grades are purely performance based. But if you're not afraid of a challenge, want to learn math, and are willing to make an effort, don't be scared!

HEY...ALL I CAN SAY IS,"WHAT AN ODDBALL!",AND YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.." I WAS GOING TO DROP THIS THE FIRST CLASS.. BUT DECIDED TO GIVE IT A TRY..PASS ON THIS GUY.. easy class instruction, then BAM! the test questions seem incomplete, and left going "WTF".. THIS CLASS SHOULD BE CLARIFIED MORE,REGISTER EARLY, AND DO NOT GET STUCK WITHDRAWING.

He isn't an easy A but he teaches you step by step to solve a problem. If you like math I certainly suggest you to take him, he doesn't check the homework but make sure you do it because it's the same than the exam but with different numbers. He post the answers on the internet so you can compare it with your work and see what you did wrong.

i had him for college algebra, he has to be the worst teacher i ever came across, his test was covered nothing that he taught in class its like he is playing games with your grade. he didnt teach angthing that he place on the test he is ridiculous he takes pleasure in seing people fail. he should definitely not be teaching math.

I was a math major and took an analysis class with Brin. I still have nightmares thinking about getting my degree because of him. I failed the course the first time. DO NOT TAKE HIM! I took him for FAll 09 semster and dropped. The material is so easy and you will understand it. There is hw, but he never goes over it, he never goes over quizes or exams so you can fix what you did wrong and all of them are in essay form.

Dr. Brin is a sorry excuse of a human being. He is sarcastic, rude, disrepsectful, and could care less about your grade. He gets off on watching students fail. I went to every class, studied for hours and hours on end, and he still failed me. His tests are bull, he lies and says things wont be on the tests when they really will be. DON'T TAKE HIM!!

Do not take his class. There is homework, but he never goes over it and he keeps track of them. The tests are hard and there are usually really complex questions. Quizzes are only 15 minutes and if you can't finish it, too bad ! Even if you study for exam and quizzes you will still fail or pass the class with a bad grade.So don't take him.

DON'T DO IT !!! This class gave me nightmares and great depression(SERIOUSLY)Teaches very fast, doesn't do too much explaining, never goes over homework, grades off of test and exams in which you don't get much time to complete. Don't torture yourself .

He was one of the nicest professors I've had. Lets you take a cheat sheet to every exam and quiz. We have quizzes usually about once a week. But they help to boost your grade. He doesn't make you buy a text book you can use the online one. Even if you do buy it its only 30$. Such a great guy!!! I would recommend his class for sure!!!

He needs to take a course on how to teach a class. I am a very hard working student and he failed me how does a semester full of B's and C's land me with a final grade of a D-? He doesn't go over homework and doesn't give real notes, all he does is lecture and solves problems in front of you. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Prof. Brin is a nice man but an awful professor. He flies through the material and never takes the time to fully explain what it is he's doing. I have never worked so hard for a failing grade. I am an AB student and this course does not reflect my work ethic. It's disappointing to have a professor who does not the time for his students.

Dr. Brin is a nice guy. He is willing to answer our questions and help us when needed. He is up to date on technology. Part of the homework is online and part of it is in the textbook and only the online stuff gets graded. Gives us time in class to do homework. His tests are really difficult though and hard to pass.

Dr. Brin is a super nice guy, but he is not a very good professor. Stats was one of the hardest classes I've taken at SCSU. If you are a math genius, take him, but if you are taking stats for your first time like I was, avoid him. He's a nice guy, but does not know how to teach the material to students who do not know as much.

I took him last semester. He's a nice enough guy but can't teach to save his life. There are quizzes every Friday based off of the homework. The homework almost always comes from the textbook, but is more like a work book. It didn't explain how to do anything, so essentially unhelpful. If you didn't understand the homework, you will fail the quiz.

Avoiding taking him. I have never had a professor that is as tough as him. Tests are long, almost no one ever finished them. He even said "you're not expected to finish the tests." 3 tests and a final and some computer work. He lets you use a cheat sheet for tests. The material is easy. I would've done better if i was able to finish the tests...

Terrible teacher. Felt stupid asking questions. Office hours didn't help. Nothing made sense to me, there was no flow or order. The class felt messy. I couldn't understand the book/HW. Wouldn't let me withdrawal so I ended up failing. Retook the same class with a different professor 2 semesters later as a grade replacement - passed with a B+.

The best math professor, even teacher by far. He is open to clarifying what you don't understand. Also has a sense of humor which lightens up the class and overall does a good job making math easy and the material understandable

Honestly great guy, really well done and easy to follow lectures. His homework assignments are well created, easy to do from his lectures and reading materials. He's very hands on, in terms of coding along during class with him, brainstorming and figuring out problems as a class on the fly.

Dr Brin is a very good professor at giving students the opportunity to share their thoughts on different problems and concepts in class. He will actually wait a few minutes to keep lecturing until someone says their thoughts on an in class example or concept. Easy to reach. The homework is steady, but is needed to understand this course.

He uses myopenmath, so no need to spend a dime on books and the hw is very easy to ace. He is extremely accessible for office hours and obviously wants his students to succeed. He records all his classes so you can review at home, and his tests are very fair. The class is hard but its a 300 level math class.

Professor Brin is overall a great professor. He explains concepts in a clear way that makes them much easier to comprehend and is always willing to answer questions. I was scared to take linear algebra but after his class I feel like I have a good grasp on the subject.

I had him for MAT104. Unlike other math courses, there were no tests but projects that your grade heavily relied on. He didn't supply good grading criteria and graded harshly. He tried to come off as a fun, easy-going professor, but was anything but that. It was hard to get into contact with him in or outside of class. I would not recommend him.

he has a participation grade but since this is math it makes it easier if you do it with him. he asks everyone if there is anymore questions. don't be afraid to ask question he will answer the stupid ones, there was that much homework but sometimes there was 4 assignments a week. test aren't hard only 12 questions and final is 20 questions.

Was surprised he had bad reviews on here tbh, he was super chill and his lectures were helpful. He streamed every lecture with digital notes that he was filling out live in the classroom with a mic, then would post them to watch later. We'd have 2-3 online assignments a week and an exam after a few chapters totaling 3 and a final.

The workbook does most of the explaining, don't even think about asking him a question you're not getting an answer. not only does the textbook do a better job and “explaining” ,but it also has a better personality.
