I literally made this Rate My Prof page just to express how great of a teacher Lamp is. He is new to teaching, so he doesn't have reviews and such but he creates all his notes and guides to prep for tests and goes over problem solving and answers for everything. Very easy going. funny guy, and makes it so you earn the grade you deserve studying

Lamp is a very interactive instructor both in class and out. If you are not understanding something he helps you come up with a solution that helps you remember how to solve a problem. He is very effective in lecture and allows for class interaction.

I chose this class and ready to be bored. However, professor Lamb just made this class so interesting and I clearly learned a lot in this class. Super funny and smart professor and he almost know every problem I gave him.

Attendance is not mandatory, however, do yourself a favor and go. Especially if you aren't great at math like me. Honestly, I'm really glad I took his class, you can tell he actually cares about his students. I thought this class was really going to be hard but his lectures really helped and if I had any questions I could email him and he would get back to me quickly. He is funny in class and notices when the class seems out of it because some material can be tough to understand and he try to lighten things up. Reviews are just like the test.

If you show up to class, study, and do the homework you'll be fine. Professor Lamp is really funny and the lectures make sense. The homework was online and not too hard. Go to office hours if you need help because Professor Lamp explains everything really well. The tests are just like the study guides and the final was not that difficult.

Math is never an easy A so you do have to study outside of class in order to do good in his class, but he makes math as clear as it can possibly be and he tells funny stories along the way to keep the class entertained. He's an amazing teacher. His reviews are exactly like the exams, he doesn't lie to you about that. Homework is optional but necessary for understanding. There are 7 exams, a final, and a quiz mostly every Wednesday based on the homework to make sure you did it. Gave two free quizzes, and gives partial credit for trying. Very easy to talk too. GREAT

Professor Lamp is a great professor! Covers each section very clearly and is very happy to answer any questions. Very understanding professor and overall a funny dude. Everything that are on his tests come from the study guide. Gives quizzes based off of the homework assignments on Wednesdays at the end of class for all the people that come late.

He cares for the students and always cracks jokes with them. His only issue is that he tends to talk or explain a concept so much that he runs out of time to get to the section he wants. I honestly enjoy his class so much. His exams are like his study guides, so if you do the study guide and understand the concepts then you are guaranteed an A.

Hands down the best professor Ive had at IVC so far! He explains things very clearly and is willing to answer any questions you have. He really wants you to understand the material and will help. Exams are exactly the same as the study guides and quizzes are based off the homework so I recommend doing it. I would definitely take him again!

Took this class for 'fun' because I didn't need it. Calc is a hard class, but Professor Lamp made it so much better than I thought. His study guides are EXACTLY like his exams. He is everything you want in a professor. Loves to interact with the class, makes steps to solving problems very clear, and FUNNY. I would love to have him in other classes

Give this man a raise dang it! He is amazing. I am trying to get off his waitlist for 3a but I had him for Math 2. He goes a little fast, but compensates for it by going into detail and giving a lot of hints on what will be on exams. You will leave his class with both a high grade and a better understanding of the subject.

HE Is THE BEST TRIGONOMETRY INSTRUCTOR!!! TAKE HIS CLASS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT. He reviews all materials he wants to bring at exam. If You go to his lectures and do a little study and practice, you will get a straight A.

Lamp is a solid professor and seems like a good guy in general. He makes lectures really fun and will explain things if you don't understand. Homework is not a requirement, so if you don't do it, don't be surprised if your grade tanks. He replaces your lowest test score with what you get on the final exam. Lamp is a very nice guy and works with you on due dates and different circumstances. HW are easy for the first few chapters but by the time of the 2nd exam they get hard. He posts a study guid assignment before the exam that is very similar to the exam, so spend time on that study guid and you're good to go. Would recommend.

Professor Lamp is super funny, caring, and is passionate about teaching! I love being in the class but it's soooo hard. Not really because of his work load he gives us, but because he wants us to be ready for the next class and the school curriculum requires that kind of difficulty (test material, etc). Leonard Lamp is one of THE BEST professors I have ever had. Math does not come easily to me, and he took a subject that looked like a foreign language and taught me not only to love it, but to feel really confident in my abilities. He is hilarious, helpful, and really cares about his students. An absolute gem of a human being.

Lamp is one of my favorite professors at IVC. Took him for Trig in the summer, then Calc 1 in the spring. His lectures are super engaging and he always has a funny story or joke to make the entire class laugh. He teaches you the concepts you need to know without wasting time on useless stuff. His work ethic is similar to Michael Jordan, but his inexperience compared to other professors makes him similar to Lamar Jackson as he is the new generation of math professors. Professor Lamp is a very caring Professor. He tests you on what he teaches in class compared to other Professors that test you OUT of the book which is brutal. He does great office hours, helps students step by step of the problem compared to YOUSEFF does not care nor even has office hours. Would take him again for Calc 3 and even College Algebra.

Incredibly hilarious and most down-to-earth professor ever. He's young, so he's easy to get along with, making lectures a lot more fun. Really difficult class as it is Calc 3B, so don't be surprised to work for it, but he's really helpful and drops the lowest exam and quiz scores which help a lot. I'd love to take one of his classes again.

Took MATH3A right after finishing AP Calc BC in high school and it was a breeze. Will usually respond to emails at night when his little ones aren't running around. Office hours are also at night. Lectures pre-recorded on YT. Class weighted heavily on homework, much less on quizzes and tests. Would take him again!! Prof Lamp is the best!!

BEST MATH PROFESSOR ON CAMPUS PERIODT. I loved taking this class a couple of semesters ago and it was a breeze. He allowed us to replace our lowest exam score with whatever we got on the final. Loves telling random funny stories about himself and his teaching is very understandable. There are quizzes/extra credit to help your grade too! :)

He is so far the best Math professor I've had at IVC. After transitioning online, I still get plenty of good feedback from him. Also, he tries to make difficult concepts as easy as possible, which I find particularly helpful since I was not very good at Calculus in the beginning.

The dude is amazing. One of the only teachers who care. I took him for multiple classes, and still go to him for help now that I'm at a 4 year. I would take him for every class if I could. He will stay with you for hours after class if you really need help. If he sees you trying, he will bend over backward for you. Do the HW and it's an easy pass.

Honestly everyone knows Calculus is a difficult subject for many and I have always struggled in math but Professor Lamp makes hard topics easy to understand. His lectures are very important to attend and make sure to take your notes. The Professor puts in a lot of effort for his students and if you put in effort as well, you will do great!

I've had Professor Lamp for both 3A and 3B online and he's a great professor. He has recorded lectures that you watch and take notes on for easy points and they're long but detailed and clear. He makes sure you understand the concept. His tests are somewhat difficult but he lets you work with others during them so it relieves a lot of stress.

Professor Lamp is by far one of my favorite professors of all time. He's got the job of a professor with the heart of a student while remaining an absolute Chad. He easily relates to his students and tries his best to give them the tools to succeed. For Covid he even joined discord for us and we still talk to him sometimes. Best math prof ever!

His lectures are heavy and can sometimes be confusing but. He drops 4 H.W. assignments, and drops the lowest group test exam which counts significantly higher than the normal exams. I owe my A+ to this man! All around he's phenomenal. I kind of wish that he gave us synchronous lectures because my discipline sucks and I am lazy.

The question shouldn't be if you should take lamp, but rather is the waitlist short enough to take his class.

Lamp provides YouTube recordings of his lectures. There are 4 exams in total - complete all the lectures and homework and you can easily ace his tests. Friendly and genuinely wants his students to succeed. Very helpful in office hours. It is hard to not pass his class. One of the most engaging classes I had in spite of it being online.

Professor Lamp is a great professor! His class is not hard at all and he is very kind and is reliable outside of class. My only little issue is (only math majors and people who are interested in math will have this problem) that nothing is Proctored so you don't learn stuff as well online. But even then you can learn if you choose to!

Easily the most understanding and caring math professor I have ever taken. He is able to help you with almost any question you need to be answered and knows what he is doing. His lectures are very easy to learn from and truly cares about all of his students. He made studying for tests a lot easier and less stress-heavy.

Listen... If you take this professor, do the homework/quizzes, you will nail the midterm and finals. I passed with flying colors. He has discord that you access him through. If you need a good math professor who will be present the learning process, it HAS to be Prof. Lamp. He is the ultimate CHAMP of math profs here at IVC. I learned a lot from his lectures, especially since I suck at math. Discord access, In-depth video lectures, 2-3 sections per week, 6 tests and drops lowest scores. Make use of it; it helps a lot!

Professor Lamp is a good professor but you do need to absolutely stay on top of things or else if you even fall a little behind then you're screwed. He is very accessible outside of class as he creates a discord for our class too. Good person just a hard class.

As someone who is not great at math, he is a great lecturer because he makes difficult concepts easier to understand and tries to answer all the questions. Its a tough class, but Lamp offsets that by breaking down difficult concepts into laymens terms, providing comprehensive practice exams, and frequently being available to help. He seems passionate about the coursework which translates to genuine enthusiasm when hes helping students understand difficult subjects.

He is one of the best professors at IVC and is seriously an amazing person. He actually cares about his students and does everything possible to help us out. He had two exams and a final. His tests are easy if you study the material and he makes study guides that are just like the test. I'm bad at math but I ended up with an A because of him.

Where do I even start. I took Lamp's class over the spring and he's been nothing but an amazing professor. Anything and everything you find for in a professor is in him. Good professor, the quizzes stands 50% of grade so you should doing the homework but homework are no needed to be submit. But still you should do homework cuz the quizzes question and middle term exam are base on HW. He even not change any number of it. For earning A, I strongly recommend you doing the homeworks.

He is very chill and understanding and is not stubborn like other professors haha. Had him for 3A during the summer and passed. If you have the chance get him.

He was such as good professor that I am taking him again for trig. His lectures are actually understanding and when it comes to the test, he relates it back to the study guide, which is very helpful. He makes the class fun by giving his funny life stories sometimes and making jokes out of the problems

If you don't attend lectures you'll probably struggle a bit but as long as you take notes and do the homework you will pass this class.

I completed my MATH3A course with Prof. Lamp in the summer. This is one of the classes I enjoy the most in the summer. He explains everything so clearly that you will never be bored in his class. It is your luck if you can choose his class. Following his guidance, you can master 3A well and lay a solid foundation for your subsequent math study.

Took professor Lamp for College Algebra last fall 2022, he was amazing! He actually made learning fun and engaging. He also gave random extra credit points. Class wasn't too hard as long as you studied directly from the study guide he provides you with. Wasn't strict about attendance, just let him know ahead of time. Definitely take his class!

The single best professor I have ever had, took him for Calc 1 during the summer and I only got an A because I was in his class (any other professor would have given me a B). I highly recommend taking him. I never make ratings on rate my professor but I know you wont regret taking him. Really funny too.

He's really good at making math easier to learn. He's also really chill and friendly. Quizzes were basically questions from the homework so as long as you didn't slack you'd be fine. Tests weren't that bad either.

I took hybrid pre-calc, which I don't recommend, bc pass rate is 33%, and 40/60 students dropped. But for the rest of us that stayed, prof. did everything he could to help us pass the class. Lots of EC chances, curves tests, and quiz corrections. So caring and wants his students to do well. If I wasn't transferring, I would take him for calc!

LOVE HIM! Took Precalc Hybrid which was more challenging but he put so much effort into making the class easier! He's hilarious and is generous with extra credit, curving our grades, etc! He's an incredible teacher and always finds ways to make more difficult material easier! You're missing out if you're not taking him.

Professor Lamp was a very good professor. His exams were very straightforwards, and reflected the material that was supposed to be on them. He had a very generous examination policy (open notes), and had excellent lecture videos.

quizzes almost weekly (every wednesday), majority of grade is made up by quizzes and like 3 exams and a final but lowest score is replaced by final. honestly u can bs the homework (part of grade) so just dont miss any inperson quizzes and do decent on the exams

Very very helpful teacher! He isn't too serious in class and gives 100s on quizzes sometimes just because. He replaces your lowest exam score with what you score on the final, which is very helpful. He is very understanding. The material needs time to be studied, though.

I absolutely loved taking Lamp's class. He's funny and makes his lectures interesting. He doesn't get annoyed by you asking a lot of questions and is always happy to answer them. He talks and teaches pretty fast, so pay attention and try to keep up. Wish I had another math class to take with him!

Super funny and great Professor. My only critique was that tests felt incredibly hard at first. But it is important to do all of the textbook homework. While it isn't graded by him it is essential to doing well on the tests. Class was challenging but rewarding.

Professor Lamp wa amazing! I took his Math3A class, despite the class being hard I was a ble to earn an A. If you really want to do good make sure you understand the concepts conceptually. Other than that there are 3 tests, one final, and lowest test score gets replaced by final.

Lamp is a really funny and nice prof. He's a great person, but I found his class pretty tough. His study guides are not similar to the exams. He even told us that he does that on purpose. If you need an easy A, I don't recommend it because he prioritizes your understanding of the concepts rather than just getting a good grade.

I absolutely love this guy. He is hilarious, approachable, and relatable. The class is very test heavy. Almost your entire grade is based on tests and quizzes. Me (not being the best test taker), find myself stressing about this class even when no tests are coming up. However, if you do the homework and REDO the homework, like me, you will succeed.

Math is my worst subject and I was very skeptical about taking Calculus online. However if you need to take a business calc class I would 100% recommend taking it with Professor Lamp. He makes a difficult subject super easy to understand. As long as you look over his study guide before the tests and make a nice cheat sheet, you'll pass this class.

This wasn't an issue for me but I know this can be difficult if you're looking for in person learning.

Probably one of the coolest teachers on campus. There are 2 exams and a final. There was optional homework, but it's basically required to succeed in this class. You'll be cooked if you don't watch the videos and do the homework before coming to class. Quizzes are weekly, but they are problems taken directly from the homework assignments. DO THE HW

Class is super simple and as long as you do your homework you will pass this class.

Professor Lamp is hilarious and engaging, but his class is no easy A. To succeed, you'll need to really master the concepts - his exams don't just test memorization. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for my study prep, along with the free textbook. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.

Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. Really wants to make sure students understand the material and is easily accessible outside of class for help. Video lectures are key to the material. He's upfront with material that we'll be tested on and provides exam reviews to help prep.

He is so funny and grades fairly. Attendance and homework are not required but highly recommended to do well in the class. A lot of extra credit for the exams because they are generally hard. If you pay attention to the lectures, online and in class, and do all the homework, this class will be an easy A for you.

The greatest professor/teacher I have ever had in me entire life. I am going to miss him during calc 2. Really changed my perspective on mathematics and inspired me to push myself academically. Supportive and understanding person who is always willing to answer questions. Take him if you can! He is hilarious and kind hearted. One of a kind!

Best math teacher ever! Literally just take his class. There's a reason his waitlists are like 70 people. He was super supportive and has a ton of office hours. Class was formatted with watching the recorded lectures at home, and then reviewing/doing worksheets in class. Tests are medium difficulty but literally just like the study guide :)

Such a great professor as he's relatable, funny, and genuinely always willing to help. Spent a lot of time in his office hours which helped a lot when it came to studying. In the best way possible he feels way more like a friend than a professor. He's the GOAT

One of the best Professors I've ever come across. Took this class last semester, went out of my way to come back to give him a review (hes that good). He teaches in a style where you watch the lecture videos at home and then come in to class to practice those skills. Easy grader and pretty lenient. Took him again this semester for Calc1. 100% recom

Incredibly easy class if you utilize the resources Professor Lamp provides. Very understanding lectures, and exams BASICALLY reflect the study guide, except the numbers are switched. 8 x 11 paper cheat sheet (both sides) allowed on exams. 3 exams, 2-3 Online hw assignments (With lectures provided), and weekly discussion board. Definitely an easy A!

Such a great teacher, I came to IVC very indifferent to math, and not exactly seeing it as my cup of tea. He was so good that I switched majors; now, math is my favorite subject. Please take him for Pre-Calc and Calculus. His class is not easy, but you learn so much, and he is such a chill and cool guy to talk to. 100% recommend!

One of the easiest math courses I've taken. 2 Exams, 1 Final. Final grade replaces one of your first two exams if you get below a 50%. Workload is extremely minimal with 2-3 assignments + Homework and a discussion board each week. Study guides reflect exams EXACTLY, with numbers only switched around. Could not recommend a better teacher for Math 11

This class was super smooth and easy. 3 exams for the year and online quizzes. The professor is very communicative, easy-going, and ready to help. 2 assignments +discussion per week on pearson. Quizzes throughout the year online. Professor offers a great study guide for every exam making you feel prepared. I was not a math student, but he is awesom

Lamp is one of if not the best calc professor, his exams are difficult but he prepares you for them, he is such a nice guy, makes lectures enjoyable and tons of extra credit. Make sure to do homework even though its not required but it really helps. Just an amazing professor although its not an easy A. Make sure to always go to office hours.

Math 11 was a manageable course with 2-3 lectures per week and 1 discussion post. 3 In-person tests that are similar to the exam review and are pretty easy, as long as you make a good cheat sheet. He rounds grades at the end of the semester and truly cares about his students.

Lamp is the best professor to take for calculus. He cares a lot about his students and wants everyone to succeed. Tests are difficult but lamp fully prepares you for them. I took 3B hybrid which made it harder to keep with the material. One of the best things you can do to succeed in this class is to go to office hours and do the homework questions

I took his hybrid class which was like a flipped class. I thought it was easy but I know the class average on exams were 60. Not because of him but probably because it was Calculus 2. He's very knowledgable and nice, likes to get to know his students. Currently, has no homework but I know he was looking into adding some.

I took him for 3A and 3B. He is a funny professor that really cares about his students. Even though homework is not mandatory, make sure to do all the homework to guarantee an easy A. He is very accessible outside of classroom and good at teaching.

Is quite merciful provided you put in the effort. Quizzes for flipped format are basically hat-drawn homework questions, do homework and it becomes quite easy.

Best Professor ever. Top tier education. Definitely recommend him. He is a great person and teacher.

Lamp is awesome! If you have to take a math course at IVC and he's available, take him. He is SO helpful and always gets back to you if you have questions. Set up really well for online. He wants you to pass! Definitely take his course!

Professor Lamp is both funny and knowledgeable. He provides great study guides. His tests are harder than the study guides but they are still fair. I would definitely recommend him to anyone, math major or not.

This course and professor was a life saver. I was worried that the class would be very difficult because I hadn't taken math in a while, but it was very doable. I learned a lot and had the flexibility to try different styles. It is a light load pretty much every week and if you just do all the assignments, the exams should not be hard for you.

He will make calc 1 a lot easier for you. Will always explain anything you're confused about so ask questions! Go to office hrs every week. The tests were hard so you need to study more than just doing the review and the hw (what he tells u to do). The final was an easy 100 so you can count on that to bring ur grade up. Super generous EC!

Great professor, but a difficult class! His exams are really difficult and he assigns a lot of homework problems. Even though he doesn't collect HW, doing them is required to do well on daily quizzes and to practice for the test! Barely made an A and couldn't have done it without his great extra credit opportunities! Flipped instruction style.
