He is very good looking and he makes the class fun!!!!!!!
Great Professor! Works hard to make the class interesting and informative. Stays on track w/ lectures and course direction. Allows ample time for assignment completion. 2 big thumbs up for Professor Lopez.
Leonard is super hot! now that I'm done with objectifying him, I must mention that he knows his stuff and has a sort of humor that is hard to find. I MISS YOU LEO!!!
really good, funny, and cute teacher. u will enjoy his class. easy and lets u ealry at times. go ahead take him for ur next phil or poltics class.
A very thought provoking class, was fun, intresting, and kept you thinking if take part in discussions. This teacher is big on discussions and what you think on different issues. Excellent class.
Not as easy as he used to be when I took him for another Philosophy class. Very strict about attendance. Even though still a cool prof.
Such a cool teacher. He explains well and his class is very interesting. Very easy as well. he is a cutie!!
Very funny guy. Awesome teacher. He maintains a fun atmosphere but most importantly keeps you interested in the topic.
talkes about relationships

This teacher was a great teacher. He was not only very imformative and knowledgable, but he got the whole class involved and interested. He's also pretty funny and pretty good looking!

Yes, as has already been stated, he is extremely aesthetically pleasing!! I am a philosophy major too, so I look forward to gazing at him in a sort of stupor for at least another few semesters! He is also a decent proffesor, don't think that I have over looked that.
This man is amazing. he's well tempered, open to new ideas, and super absorbant- like a spppooongggeeee. He's hot, funny, computer addicted and interesting. What more do you want in a teacher?
HE'S A COOL TEAHER AND HIS CLASS IS ONE THAT I LOOK FORWARD TO, HE MAKES YOU THINK AND I LIKE THAT IN A CLASS
amazing teacher. he's very open to new ideas. he makes you think and tries to get you involved. has a great sense of humor and i think you really get something out of his classes. if you have the opportunity to take one of his classes, do it.
he is the bomb teacher your aloud 3 essay which they are not hard just persuasive if your good at argueing i recommend take him cause he is a funnie teacher and u will love pparticipating in class
He talks too much of his personal life. He stated that he doesn't own a car because he does not want to waste time "grooming" or dwelling upon it-It's called dicipline Prof Lopez. Honestly, I felt like I was wasting my time, his lectures were tedious and repetitive. Although he's an intelligent UCLA grad and a lawyer, I doubted his character would
Leonard is an awesome teacher. He is very easy. He is one of the few teachers on campus that one can talk to about anything. If you're pre-law, he will take the time to answer any questions you may have. His undergrad degree is from UCLA but he got his JD from Stanford. HELLO, that says something!
he is a good professor i recomend him
he's a good professor...
Very funny professor. He's pretty laid back, and the assignments are pretty straight forward. You do need to take part in some of the class discussions, but nothing too nerve wrecking or difficult.
awesome professor. fuuun class!!!!!
Lopez is the best teacher I've ever had. He is funny and cool and makes class fly by everyday. He is really cool to talk to personally and will listen to anything. You can bring up any subject and he'll discuss it with you. TAKE LOPEZ HE IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!
I just decided to revise the one below this one because I made a mistake Lopez's helpfulness is really high.
Prof. lopez comes off as a really weird guy but overall he really tries to get you to understand everything! His teaching style is very middle school, not a challenging class or teacher at all. stutters alot though.
Prof. lopez jumps around a whole lot, stutters a bit and gets himself lost. but overall you shouldn't have a problem passing his class, he'll give you an A or B according to his personal opinion of you as a good or bad 'student'.
Mr.Lopez Hmmm...Good sense of style, Cute! got lost often, dimensional, went beyond what he was actually trying to propose, Emphatic! Interacted a lot with the class, in general.Embellished with influential knowledge. makes it easy to assimilate any datum of the literature. I would HIGHLY reccomend any of is available classes.
Oh yeah!, and He's a MORRISSEY fan...You don't find those too often...
I love this professor, take him, he knows his stuff, he is very intelligent. and he is so hot.
Omg he is sooo cute and he is a great teacher. He also has a really funny but understandable approach to explaining things. LOL ..i never noticed his stuttering like other people said in previous comments...and me and the rest of the girls in the class PAY attention!
You probably hear this alot "This is a great teacher, I recommend him" But serioulsy, this time it is absolutely true. He is one of the best teachers that valley college has to offer. Even if you don't like philosophy you should still take his class. It was one of the best times i've ever had. The movies in his class were pretty cool too. TAKE HIM
This is my second time taking Lopez. He is a good professor and he is extremely smart. Do not worry about homework because the only homework he gives out for all his classes are essays and trust me they are easy. All I recommend you do is do not talk while he is talking. Always shut your mouth and pay attention. he gets mad about that a lot.
Pretty easy class. You must participate in lectures, it will help a lot with your grade. He is very strict on texting, talking, and coming late. If he catches you most chances are he will kick you out of the class. If you do not get a good grade one a paper he will drop it if you do better on the next paper. There is no homework only 5 papers
Pretty easy, just a couple of essays. I loved this class. He makes you think a lot. I loved debating and discussing. However, he was not afraid to kick me out a couple of times for talking. He knows what the subject well though. It was a very fun class, and after taking it I kept studying philosophy afterwards. Highly recommended.
Best teacher I've encountered at Valley thus far. Genuinely nice guy who has a great sense of humor-plus he's totally hot. He will not stand for cell phones ringing in his class or tardiness, which is refreshing for those of us who actually want to learn.
Awesome teacher. Took him for a summer philosophy class and could not of made a better choice. His mind is like a gift unto the world, and just to hear and begin to understand how it works is such a pleasure and a privilege. By far one of the best teachers in my entire collegiate experience.
Excellent Teacher. Made the subject fun and interesting and was very clear on what he wanted and expected out of the students. No homework or exams, only required a midterm and final paper. easy A if you pay attention during discussion and take the time to do the work. I Highly recommend him.
Great teacher! He explains everything clearly and discusses the topic in an interesting and fun matter. He is very hip and trendy and only requires a midterm and final with the midterm being the majority of the grade. I highly suggest you take his class.
Lopez is an amazing teacher. He keeps his class active and answers all questions. He speaks clearly and his lectures are always enjoyable. i would recommend him as a teacher to anyone interested in taking philosophy. He is flexible towards students that pay attention and try in the class. His assignments are easy as long as you do the reading and c
Mr. Lopez is an amazing Professor. His is the only class I have ever taken at Valley that actually kept me engaged. He makes the subject fun and understandable. I just wish more people would participate in discussions since they are crucial to the learning process.
Mr. Lopez is a great teacher. Some of the ideas are obviously hard to explain, but he does a good job of teaching what's in the book. My mind was opened to different ideas that I had never known existed and I grew to love the topics because they were so interesting. He's pretty laid back if you are respectful, and def a cool guy to talk to.
Lopez is an excellent professor. He always keeps the class discussion interesting and it's quite easy to understand what he's talking about. If your having trouble with the assignment he's more than happy to assist you. He's a really cool and laid back guy as long as your not being disrepectful.
Professor Lopez is insightful, and very knoeledgable. This class had a take home midterm and final, yet almost half the class dropped(lazy students). Discussions were very interesting, sometines off topic. The only way not to get an "A" in his class is to not pay attention. Do not text or have phone on or you will be dismissed from class.
I took professor Lopez last semester.. He was very insightful and helpful. He is very intelligent and used alot of examples of real life circumstances and stories to help me understand philosophy a little better..he is a good teacher not to mention he is very handsome...no he is he's hot...
I took Lopez for every philosophy class he teached. He is a great teacher and very insightful. He makes his class interesting but not easy. He doesnt throw curves and he is inspirational. I actually have a back up plan to major in philosophy because of his influence. I recommend him greatly, and hes a goodvlooking teacher as well.
This is the first professor review I've ever written in my 5 years of college experience. Professor Lopez is, quite frankly, awesome. He's always got a sense of coolness and relevancy, and he can effortlessly blend his views on hip-hop/pop culture with the philosophy of Logic. Plus, he always looks like he came out of a GQ magazine.
Professor Lopez is the best professor I have had thus far. After going through 4 years of schooling at SBVC and then CBU I came to realize how important a professor as passionate as Mr.Lopez is to the educational process. I definitely recommend all his courses. Lopez inspired me and I will soon be studying law and ethics. A+++ to him!
One of the best professors I have had at SBVC. He may be very strict on attendance, but his class and lectures are always interesting and very clear. Plus, he's very good looking!
Great teacher!
Great professor.
Hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. Not really lectures, but discussions that really engage the class. He brings in current events as examples to make it more understandable. I would def take his class again Don't be afraid to speak up during discussions or ask for help. He's truly a teacher that WANTS you to succeed.
I have taken him for 2 different classes. he is a great teacher one of the best that i have come across here at Valley. His lectures are good sometimes a little boring. But he is very specific on what he wants. no home work 2 essays due midterm then final and he tells you exactly what he wants. if you are having trouble he makes the time to help.
Taking notes mandatory, essays will be a factor, and being part of discussions is a plus.
Great professor really makes you think and question different subjects.
You can relate to him, because he's hilarious. He's also very helpful, but don't expect help if you miss too many classes. You feel brain damaged after the semester is over, if you take logic that is, because it's like math with words, but Professor Lopez is real good at walking you through it. Plus, it's accurate he's handsome, enjoy the view!
Honestly this class was super easy. I didn't have the textbook and I did well on his exams, plus attendance wasn't mandatory. For us we only had two exams, the mid-term and final, which were both pretty easy as long as you paid attention in class (skipped some). If you're late you'll most likely be called out by him, which was pretty funny (not me)
Professor Lopez is an amazing teacher. Professor Lopez keeps things interesting and uses current events to relate to the topic being discussed. Professor Lopez is very intelligent and is always willing to help if your a good student and show interest in your education. I'm moving on to Cal State San Bernardino now and wish I could take him with me.
Great professor! Interesting and makes you think. Smart as anything, used to be a lawyer. Is actually from this area and SBvc alumni and eventually graduated from Stanford ,.giving us all hope!
He is probably the best professor at SBVC. He has taught me so much over the past two semesters, and I am forever indebted to him for giving me my love for philosophy. Taking this man alone should be a graduate requirement for everyone because he is just that great. I love him! Take him, and you wont regret it.
Prof. Lopez made class was fun to go to even though the subject matter was kind of boring to me. He goes off on entertaining tangents. There was no homework, only a midterm and final. I missed one day after the midterm and was totally lost after that. This class was not my priority and I squeaked by with a C because the final was multiple choice.
Interesting professor. Intimidating but only because he's so cool. I looked forward to his lectures (specifically in philosophy 101 and 102) because the discussions were always fun. I took him for phil 103 and it sucked though. BUT I like this professor a lot! One time he got mad at me and I felt like a little kid getting yelled at by their idol :(
It is a great professor. Just strict about attendance and the use of cell phones. Easy class.
One of the most laid back classes I've had, but at the same time very intellectually stimulating. He's a cool dude who's good at facilitating discussion while not making anyone feel bad about their opinions or questions. But be warned, if sees you with your phone out or hears you talking to a neighbor he WILL humiliate you in front of everyone.
Took as a summer course. Read one book durning course. There was one test on what we read from the book. There were two papers in relation to the book read. It was not very difficult class as long as you read the book and show up to class.
The class was based off a midterm and a final that were take home with multiple weeks to do. His lectures were fairly thought provoking, and are relevant to the midterm and final. However, he is very tough on attendance and the rules of the class. DON'T talk or take your phone out otherwise he will ask you your name and drop you from the class.
He's a great teacher and he knows his stuff but he is rude and doesn't care what you have doing on. He doesn't answer your email and doesn't use blackboard. He does allows makeups just and don't arrived late for a quiz because he won't let you take. I did miss a few times and got an A.
After taking this class, you truly change your outlook on life. Mr. Lopez has that affect in his classes. He makes you think! Though you really don't need to read the book, come to class ready for discussion! There's nothing worse than having a one-ended philosophical conversation. Get involved! He's an easy grader, but be respectful No phones out!
I took Prof. Lopez 4 Philosophy 101 and 102, and will take him for 105 in the Spring of 2018. He is an awesome instructor, be it 101 or 102, he makes you step out of your box and think. No homework, only a midterm and final. The key to passing his class in be "present" and participate, he likes that. 2 survive the class turn your phone OFF.
Mr. Lopez gives really great lectures. If youre looking for a class to feed your intellectual needs, this is it. I was very impressed by the way he presented the subject matter. I even thought about changing my major! I would take his class again. Respect him, hell respect you. Want the grade? Do the work. Loved this class!
Fantastic professor. Only had 2 papers to write for the semester and rarely ever gives homework. Lectures always want to make you go back to learn more. Taking him again for another course and it's still just as good.
I had his summer class. Having philosophical conversation is the goal of his class. He loves when you go back and forth on ideas and ask questions. He's a lawyer so he will challenge you in argument. Don't be discouraged, that's his way of making you think harder. His lecture on the word "ethics" is amazing. Read. And keep your phone away.
Professor Lopez is a great professor highly recommend.
I took Professor Lopez for an online Philosophy class and we didn't do much, easy A. The lectures he posted were very good though.
In my expeirence in his Phil 101 course, the structure of the class was really unorganized and hard to follow with where he wanted to guide the class. I get the sense that he is a bright professor, but his poor utilization of Canvas limits his ability to lead/teach the class in a productive manner.
Take two philosophy courses: intro and logic. Do yourself a favor and take them both from Prof. Lopez; he is a good philosophy teacher and makes the subject interesting, which makes the difference between hating or appreciating philosophy. I majored in philosophy because of him, transferred to UCLA, and now I am in law school. Thanks Lopez
Spring 2018. Hybrid. Great lectures. Makes you think. Must participate otherwise you will miss the best part - he makes you think, to entertain an idea without accepting it. Different topic each semester. A midterm and a final paper. If he offers a free read of your papers, take it! He will point out needed changes. Rewrite with no penalty.
A really good teacher and makes philosophy accessible and interesting. Class discussions are fun.
I took Leonard for Spring (10 week course) I would not recommend him unless you don't care about this class. I was never able to get a hold of him, he never graded assignments on time. There is weekly participation (never gave feedback) and two 3 page essays, our class did only one.
Professor Lopez is amazing! Highly recommend taking his class. It's hard not to have an opinion or argument with the subject's discussed in class. He will not move forward in his lecture unless everyone is understanding his topic points. He is easy to talk to. FYI, stay away from your phone, he has little patience for distractions.
His class was very easy, but he seemed to change personalities every time I came to class. One day hed be super chill, but the next hed lock you out if you dont show up on time or leave for the bathroom. The class is based around Socrates, which is pretty cool. I never read the book, I just wrote down everything he said in lectures.
This professor does not help whatsoever, he doesnt grade on time, never puts due dates, and wont get to your messages. Its already my second week in his online class, and I dont know what hes doing. He will say something is due one day and then puts the due date for that same day he uploaded the assignment. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Unavailable for messages or any questions regarding the course. Syllabus does not reflect what is being assigned. Changes original due dates without an explanation and does not provide due dates for assignments, yet calls out students who do not complete them on time?!
would never take this unprofessional person again. this is my 2nd time taking his class. he failed me prior semester and all his class appealed since he didnt submit grades until 1 month after class ended. yes 1 month just unbelievable, i added his class for summer and he sent me a message to drop? but i completed everything that was being required
Professor Lopez didnt have a syllabus posted until 3rd week into course. He never graded anything and his assignments did not have due dates. I hope hes okay. He disappeared and ghosted all of his students. His class is easy but hes MIA. I turned everything in on time but recieved an incomplete. This grade was posted 1 month past deadline.
Put simply. He told me to consider dropping the class due to a lack of attendance. I missed at least twice, and asked him if it effected my enrollment, and he told me that it was more about the grade than the attendance. I received an I for the class, and after months of emailing him I never received a reply. This was after submitting everything.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME TAKING THIS MAN'S CLASSES!!. He is the laziest Instructor i have ever encountered. He disappears, and does not offer a single drop of instruction in the class and then he will fail you. I can not believe this man gets paid to do nothing (defrauding the school). I did not learn anything as nothing was taught. STAY AWAY.
If you are looking for a chill and relax class. Then this is it. If you want a A you just got to show up and do the work. He doesnt put deadlines on things because it put pressure on students to turn in bad work.
"Professor" Lopez is unprofessional, spiteful and lazy. Youll never know what your assignments are or when theyre due until he feels like posting it, he doesnt list assignments or grades, his lectures are more like rants and his communication skills are terrible. If youre looking to not learn and be ignored, please register for this class.
i'm not sure what this dude is getting paid for. or what my grade even is. he randomly posts assignments and voice recordings that just sound like opinionated rambling . no grades posted. syllabus consists of nothing or no points. hes definitely getting paid to do nothing.
Horrible. Throughout the entire semester we only had three assignments. He did the bare minimum and did not teach, only uploading YouTube videos. He was not responsive to emails, and does not submit grades until you see your final grade on the school website. He gave me an F when I was obtaining an 80% the entire semester. I am a straight A student
I did well on the hw, even used as an ex., was said to have done well on an the essays, got a C. Actually marked my class uncredited for over a month after it ended. He wouldn't respond to my emails asking why. I contacted the dean, finally responded by calling me a liar & flaunting that he had the power to my grad & generally ass to me & coworkers
I took this class hoping to learn more about philosophy and different philosophers, but the only topics covered was prostitution and coercion. I took this course hybrid, and I do not recommend. There is a lack of structure in class, professor is not involved and takes a very long time when responding to emails. No explanation on2 main assignments
if I could give a 0 rate I would. This professor is NOT in anyway active in this class. I sent 3 emails asking for clarification for the midterm & never heard back. I asked if I can attend office hours to meet w him, again no answer. This professor could care less for his students and their education. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Completely unreachable. Gives only two essays and doesn't specify what is wanted in those essays, so you have no idea what/how he'll grade. Also just rambles on and on in audio as well as own writing. Provides no actual curriculum. Do not take anything from this teacher
I absolutely love Philosophy, the subject is interesting to me. The problem I have with this class is knowing what your grade will be despite the very few things that receive a grade. It was one of the most unclear classes as far as grading is concerned, and the professor took forever to turn in a final grade. I would suggest another professor.
My grade was "N/A" the entire time in class. We were only graded on two papers: midterm and the final. I thought I did well on my papers, I attended every class, and participated in class, yet i still received a B two weeks after the class was done. I know a B isn't a horrible grade, but it would have been nice to see my grade throughout the class.
It was an easy class for the most part, but if you are anxious about grades like me, I suggest looking for a different professor. Grades were not posted the entire summer semester, and I only received my grade when all summer classes ended. I would like to have at least know why I got a C.
gave lots of preparation and was very generous in grading
Prof Lopez is great. But all the recent complaints are correct. Fall classes were done dec 14th and it's dec 25th and no grade has been posted to webadvisor. He has not graded our final assignment yet. I emailed him but to no avail. I have learned ethics in such a way that I will never forget what prof Lopez taught. Great teacher. -lino
Professor Lopez, was a strict but fair professor. Always understanding, and very helpful in class and after class, but don't expect to come in late and do nothing, and expect a grade that you simply didn't earn. Few tests, only three tests throughout the semester, no midterm and provides extra credit if needed in the end of the semester.
Really engaging professor who makes philosophy enjoyable by encouraging different opinions from students. His lectures are great and he makes philosophy really easy to understand. 100% attendance isn't mandatory but is highly recommended since the final is based on the discussions in class. Show up to class, take notes and it's an easy A.
Never came to class, always sent message he cannot make it. Gave a paper with no direction only to give F final grade…..oh dont forget he brought his neighbors dog to class over some bus drama
As far as the course goes you are not required to attend class, but it is absolutely required if you want to be on his good side. He would pick his favorites in the class and if you weren't one of them, what you say doesn't matter just be ready to keep your eyes on him the entire time if you don't want to be singled out attitude switches day by day
Worst professor ever. He likes to ramble during lectures and goes off topic. At the end of the course we had to write an essay and turn it in on his desk… he wasn't even there to take the paper! I emailed him about it but never heard back. The essay was also never graded. He also skips classes and never send a notif that he was going to be gone.
nice teacher. Very kind, informative, passionate about what he talks about. Maybe a bit scatterbrained, but its charming, and you can gain enough education by asking the right questions.
By far the worst professor I've had. The lectures are just him rambling for the whole class period, which makes it difficult to learn. Most of the time, he himself doesn't understand what he is talking about. The whole semester he talked about how "most students fail this class" and he sounded real proud of it. Doesn't use slideshows, just drawings
