class is real boring. in order to pass the test, just read the book, because his notes are too confusing and complicated. and his tests usually come from the book.
Do practice questions at end of chapter.these show up on test. notes are somewhat confusing. read book. gives some extra credit though. not a bad teacher.
He's a decent teacher and tries to help out students.
his tests are very tricky and hard
He is a very helpful teacher. He give extra credit opportunities on every test and he has 7 test which i think is better then the usual 3 or 4.
Gives extra credit, always willing to help, easy on the eyes, too bad he just got married :(
Wow, I would marry him if i could, def the hottest bio professor I'll ever have. Take good notes, do end of chapter reviews/quizzes and you will do okay. He is a fun teacher.
Great Professor, he helps you when you need help and if your a TarHeel Fan be ready to get picked on, he's from State!!! But other than that, he's a great professor. He gives you 7 tests so you dont have a lot of material on just one test.
Awesome teacher who likes to crack jokes! Gives a lot of tests (every other week) good for grade boosters, only 40 questions long.
Hard class! You cant get away w/o studying hard. He is willing to help if you go to his office. Dont take this class if you dont like to study and read!
he is very helpful about the material taught. Dont take the class if you are not willing to read every night, there is a test every other week, and if benefits you the most if you go to every class!!! and he is the hottest professor at ECU!
Great teacher. A must class for any Biol major. Material is explained well. He puts notes on blackboard, as long as the majority of the class is in attendence.
Excellent teacher, bad attitude towards students, condesceding, thinks he is better than the students. Also has a cocky, self rightious attitude.Acts like a drill sargeant.Thinks he is better than the students that PAYS HIS SALARY
THe seven hourly exams may seem at first be overwhelming, but it helps the student in the long run.
Good teacher.Blackboard Notes.Test every other Thursday. 40MC ?'s. One two page paper.Must study. I studied and got B.
This guy is a hard core state fan and always talks about it. Although he is obnoxiously cocky, this class is EASY. He post all his lectures online and gives 7 TEST to help your grade if you mess up. Again, EASY A.
Good teacher. He posts all of the notes on blackboard and does not take attendance. You are able to answer questions as a group for added points onto your tests and he gives 7 tests. He is willing to give extra help if you need it. Take his class!
Hard as hell of a class, but he's great to look at.
He's a pretty good teacher and has alot of tests so that you can bring your grade up if you don't do well on one. He is really cocky. One thing that bothered me is that he doesn't give your test back at the end of the semester to study for the exam.
He flys through the lectures very fast, make sure you can keep up. All of his notes are on Blackboard. Don't take this if you are not a biology major!!!
This teacher is great! A lot better than Dr. Jones that teaches 2140 & 2150 in the Fall & Spring semesters. If you ever get a chance to take this teacher, take him!!! He is great!!!
Dr. Sutton is an excellent teacher. The only thing is that he goes into great detail. Even though I didn't make such a good grade, I enjoyed the class. Also, for the girls, he is one handsome professor.
Extremely hard class, you must study. Go to class, takes pop attendance. DO the extra credit. Get notes on blackboard. loves state. hated the class but good teacher.
Very easy class in the Summer....hardly ever studied but you must go to class and prepare for the extra credit group questions... very nice man to look at an pay attention to
I thought he was a dick. He was rude and disrespectful. It sucked to have test every other week, but the class wasn't that hard. He needs to realize that NC State sucks just like him.
one of the best professors i have ever had! very good looking too. Class material is difficult but he explains it very well! Notes on Bb but you will have to study them. chances for extra credit! He's a State fan though :(
He is a verry good teacher. Notes are on blackboard and he gives extra credit. You get to discuss questions with a group and answer them before the test for extra credit. There is a test every other week. If you pay attention and apply yourself you should do well.
Man has got the cutest ass, and nice smile. Nice guy, tests are complicated and you gotta study. 7 Tests, 1 research paper, easiest anatomy teacher. He really gets into his words and is pretty good of explaining although the material is just boring and complicated. Attendance is mandatory.
Hard class but great teacher. Tests come from his notes, and ya dont have to buy the book. All in all great guy, he will help you if ya go to his office and see him.
Great teacher,I had him for 1100 and am taking him for anatomy and he has teaching down to an art!!!I give him an A+
This was a good class overall. There are 7 multiple choice tests, 1 paper (not a big deal), and a cummulative final. Tests are every other week. Sutton is a tough professor. VERY specific information on the tests. I got a B and studied really hard. Good luck!!
Whoever spoke bad of dr sutton, calling him a dick and rude and such needs to go to hell because you cant get a better professor than him around here. He actually cares and obviously you dont. I recommend him to anyone that is contemplating on taking these two classes.Just study and you'll do fine
One of the best profs I ever had. He has great notes on black board. 7 exams, a paper, attendance pts. final is cumulative but it helps you more than it will hurt you because his class is based on points. i would take him again and again if i could. he just needs to convert to the tarheels!!!
I wish Dr. Sutton taught every class I ever had to take for Bio.This man hasn't got a lazy bone in his body and goes the second mile for his students.I have one word for him...EXCELLENT!!
He is a good teacher, sometimes goes over the material to fast but he also puts all his notes on Blackboard. The material is dry but he is pretty humourous in a sarcastic sense, attendence IS mandatory, bc he will take it randomly!
This guy seems to make everything so clear in class. I study extremely hard, and have been to every class this semester. But he makes his tests to be as hard as he possibly can. He does give extra credit through a group effort project for every test. Einstein would have trouble with the test.
Dude's cool. You get out what you put in. If you work hard you can get an A. All power point, read book though to back it up. Tests are hard, but he gives extra credit. Go to class, it helps. Random attendance checks.
IF YOU CANT MAKE AN A IN THIS CLASS DO NOT BE A SCIENCE MAJOR. I have taken several other upper level biology courses and this is by far the easiest class...it is boring as heck, he repeats everything 10x's...but if you made it through genetics and ecology you should be fine in here. easy A
Very good teacher - knows his stuff! You have to actually study to make a good grade, but as long as you understand the notes you should be fine. Gives a chance for extra credit before each test, which helps alot! Never even touched my book, so don't buy it. Just study and go to class!
Not an easy class but he was very helpful and wants you to do good and I have not have many professors like that. I would definatly take more classes with him!
Professor sucks! Not recommended to anyone who has a life besides books. Test are very difficult.
It is harder than his 2130 class.
Biology is never fun, but Dr. Sutton will make you laugh. He says he checks attendance throughout the semester, but hardly ever did. Tests are hard if you don't study alot, but if you read the chapters, you will do fine.

This man is the best teacher by far i had at ECU. If you need help, he will help you. You have to study, tests are tough, prepare yourself. GO TO CLASS, he gave out extra credit like crazy, and stay the whole class, dont leave on break, thats when he gives EXTRA, extra credit. Highly reccomend taking this class!!
This has to be the smartest man on earth. He knows so much about anatomy, physiology, biology, AND astronomy! ATTEND CLASS EVERYDAY! He gives extra credit like CRAZY! The class is a GPA booster and a great learning experience. Test are 40 multiple choice and True or False so you need to study.
Great teacher...Lots of extra credit, but you need to study.
Greatest teacher at ECU. It should be mandatory that he teach other professors how to teach. Go to class everyday and make sure you study, if you do these things you will get an A if not a B. If you don't go to class and don't study you could easily fail.
He is a very smart professor. He is also very funny. I enjoyed this class soo much. He gives a lot of extra credit. I found that the tests were extremely easy. He makes the test as easy as he can. If you can, make sure you get him as a professor.
Dr. Sutton is a wonderful professor. He keeps your interest during his lectures and more then willing to work with students. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit, but the tests can be a bit difficult. Put effort into the class and you can get an A. Only wished he taught Biology 2150! Highly recommend.
well, bio sucks... but if you have to take it, definitely take Dr. Sutton. He is so clear and explains EVERYTHING. all his notes are on blackboard but you do still need to go to class. His tests are tough, but he is an amazing professor so if you go to class, you'll get the grade. He has a unique sense of humor too! lol
Great guy...gets right to the point. His notes are on BB and his exams are from his notes...still need to study though...Oh and he is also funny. I recomend this class to anyone.
take him! he's great. gives 7 tests instead of just 3 or 4. gives notes on blackboard so you can follow along in class. he's great. i recommend him.
He's such a good professor! He's engaging and very clear. The material is hard, but the way he explains it makes sense. Make sure you go to class (he gives surprise recitations) and participate in the recitation groups. If you participate and study, you should do great in his class!
Great professor! The material was hard but he explains everything clearly and is very helpful. If you study and go to class then you will pass with a good grade. I highly recommend that you take this professor.
Tough class, but one of the safer picks as an instructor. Very professional and very organized.
He was a cool teacher with lots of jokes and really kept the class interested in what he was teaching. Class lectures come straight off the notes and there is no attendence policy. Tests are really tough but he gives 6 or 7 tests throughout the semester so you should do fine. I would def take Dr. Sutton for BIOL 2130!
He's a really good teacher, and he knows the material. He tries to keep everything really interesting with his quirky personality. The tests are really hard, but they come from the notes. There are 7 tests in the class so it makes it much easier to pull up your grade. He also gives lots of bonus points.
If you are willing to put effort, then this class should be a joke. The lectures come straight from the notes--7 tests and a final. There is also a 2pg paper, which is not bad--try writing one for honors--7-10 pgs. A person made a comment that there is no attendence policy--well he or she is wrong. There is an attendance policy--checks randomly
I am a senoir now and Dr Sutton is the best teacher i have ever had.
I have had him twice and he is a really great teacher. Little work is required to get an A!
TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! Notes on bb, tests are kinda hard, but you get extra points added to them. Takes random attendance, so you should go to class. Overall, moderately easy class, but you do have to put in the effort.
Very helpful for bio majors.
Well organized and fair. As long as you do your work and study for the tests you'll be fine. He is very generous with the extra credit.
He is a nice guy and tries to make anatomy as painless as possible. He really knows what he is talking about. MUST go to class even though its not mandatory. If you take notes and study for his tests the class isn't too bad. 7 tests, one take home, and then final is comprehensive but VERY general info. I would advise this man for any science class.
Fun and Intersting teacher. Extremely smart about a variety of subjects. Exam 6 is a take home. He gives you bonus points for tests for going to class and recitiation groups. Dont need the book cause everything on the tests are from the slides he does in class.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. If you sign up please study and go to tutoring. Dr. Sutton was helpful but sometimes he talked over your head...lol
Awesome prof. Funny, and straight forward. Awesome teacher, his other classes maybe hard but bio 2130 is a year class put into one semester, so its just basic stuff. No real details like the year version. He gives a bunch load of extra credit, all of his tests aretricky, since the info is basic. Final is just questions from his tests from the year.
Sutton is great. Come to class, get the recitation points, study for the exams-there are 7(a good thing)! Powerpoint book is helpful-buy it. Use the book to study for tests, it clarifies things. Get in a good recitation group-they make the class easier!
DR. SUTT0N IS THE MAN! Send him emails and get to know him, it def. pays off in the end. HE is super nice..GO T0 CLASS..Seven test and one is a take home *yay*!! he is willing to help when you put forth effort..tutoring sessions so if you really wanna pass you can and will!!
Dr. Sutton is great. Summer session is very fast-paced, but he is more than willing to help you. Make sure you always go to class and study a little everyday so you will do well on the recitations (alot of extra-credit points for tests!!) There were 4 tests and my lowest grade was a 94. Have to take him!
Highly reccommend him for any bio class, very smart man and is very helpful! Summer session was a breeze
Wonderful teacher! He is very helpful! There is a test every other week, but it's good because there is so much material to cover....TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT AN A!!!
BY FAR THE GREATEST TEACHER IN THE HISTORY OF ECU. GOOD MAN. Very Helpful. Take him.
Dr. Sutton is the coolest! He is def. my favorite teacher by far at ECU! Take him he's GREAT!
Good-looking man ;) he definitely knows what he's talking about but can be hard to follow sometimes. Test covers the powerpoints he uses. He does a recitation and exam basically every other week. Recitation points count as extra credit for exam so its usefull. Attendance not manditory but it helps to go. He is patient and willing to help.
Awesome class. If you liked his Anatomy and Physiology class you will love this. He is a great teacher. You have to write your notes on what comes out of his mouth, no ppt. And anything he says if fair game. Tests are essays, 6 questions, you pick 4 (4x25=100). Lots of extra credit opportunities. Awesome class and a great teacher!
Dr. Sutton is amazing, you will not find another professor who can make this confusing material as clear as he can. DO NOT take anyone else but him! But be warned...you MUST study, or you will not do so hot. A&P is tough no matter who teaches it!
Awesome teacher! Offers lots of extra credit, just don't miss recitations. He's funny, not bad to look at, and makes things really clear. The class is gonna be hard no matter what, but he's a great teacher.
Smartest man I know. I was impressed by his knowledge of stuff outside A&P. Great!
It should teach this course more often. Purely based on generalized physiology of mammals more so humans. Generous with extra credit and really picky at grading the essay questions on exams. Even though i recieved an A for the course it was impossible for me to make above a 96 in a exam because of being penalized for forgetting one thing but hey ex
Dr. Sutton is an amazing teacher. As noted, A&P is tough, but he makes it as easy as possible. I found myself enjoying his class after the first lecture. Go to class and study and you will be fine. Seriously an awesome teacher.
This is a 4504/4514 Research problems in Biology class. Awesome class, super easy. All we did the whole semester is one presentation and learn about cell cultures. We then were allowed to see how cell are cultured within the lab which is really neat. Sadly the cell culture lab is closing to undergrads in the Spring of 2010 to my knowledge.
Dr. Sutton was a good professor. Usually very serious when teaching, but seems to care about students. The class was okay. Study for exams and you should be fine.
Amazing professor. Definitely my favorite so far in college. Use the workbook that is required and go to class and you'll be fine. Gives plenty of extra credit. He's pretty sexy too! TAKE THIS CLASS! You'll learn a lot.
He knows his stuff, but teaches like you know it too. Lots of multiple choice tests, good teacher but I found it personally difficult to learn under him.
Dr. Sutton taught the lab for BIOL4050. One of the hardest labs I have ever taken in my entire life. I would hate to see how hard he makes the class when he starts teaching it. 3 lab practicals each with over 300 items to memorize. Only came to lab once a week (met 2x/week) so you never could ask questions. Stay away at all costs.
Seriously one of the smartest people i've ever met. His vocabulary alone was awesome! Plus he's hot, plus there's tons of extra credit. He's pretty hilarious and the class was interesting. Definitely worth taking!
Anatomy.. thought it would be interesting. Very hard to learn from him, he goes so fast, and jumps from one thing to another, its hard to put it all together with the body systems. Tests were very hard! Not a good teacher, hes smart but doesn't know how to teach.
Go to class, study, and take good notes and this class should be a guaranteed "A". He is knowledgeable about the material and his ability to communicate is unrivaled. For anyone interested in human health or planning on pursuing a health related professional field this class is a must.
Hard! He speeds through lessons, and the slides really don't explain much. 7 tes&a final. thats a bit much right? Test are hard. TAKE advantage of the tutoring unless your good at science. By far one of the hardest classes. Pay attention&ask question! Do everything possible to get help. Mono tone and boring, has funny moments. I slept= bad idea.
Don't expect this class to be a breeze. I think Dr. Sutton is a good teacher, but he flies through the lecture, and the class size is almost 200 students, so find him during office hours if you have questions. 7 Tests and 1 final (cumulative), and none are dropped or curved. He gives the opportunity for extra credit the lecture before the test.
Class is hard. He goes through the slides quick and before you know it you have another test. Study hard and stay on top of things.
Dr. Sutton is a great professor. Very smart. This class is not easy by ANY means, but comon', it's A&P! He does go through his lectures fast and there are 200+ people in each lecture hall, but I would HIGHLY recommend him if you are disciplined enough to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!
Teaches a little too fast.
Great teacher! This is college, so don't expect this class to be a 'breeze'. He gives you his lecture notes and tests are all based on his notes, holds study sessions and gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit for each test. 7 tests, a final and an extra credit 8th test. If you can take a few hours to study his notes you will do fine
One of my favorite teachers at East Carolina. Intelligent, with a good sense of humor. He wants his students to do well in the class and offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. Highly recommended.
Great teacher! Gives a lot of extra credit and easy to understand. Very helpful. Take his class!
AWESOME TEACHER! If I could take a class with him again, I would. He is clear with his expectations. Take his advice: STUDY AT LEAST 30 MINS A DAY! It honestly helps! He comes to class about 10mins late, but we always leave EARLY. He is concise and clear.
Class was challenging. Not easy but not too hard either. Gives extra credit during some classes that will go towards tests. Love the way he gives tests (8 total). Makes it easier to make a better grade on each test and overall in the class. Would recommend to anyone.
Great teacher. Loved how he had everything setup. Extra credit if you get in a good group of people. He's extremely helpful if you ask questions. Clear teacher. Tests can be difficult if you don't study. Would take him for any class.
Dr. Sutton is a great professor! I highly recommend taking him! The information is interesting, but the tests can be difficult at times. There are 8 exams not including the cumulative final. The 6th exam is a take home exam (easy A), and the 8th exam is a complete bonus exam only to help your total points increase! extra credit on every exam!!
Dr. Sutton does it again. He's a great teacher. Tests are all essay which hurt your hand and the practical's are rough that said as long as you go to class and put forth a good effort in the lab you will do fine. If he taught more bio electives I would take them.
Topics are random and mostly unrelated to anything that you would expect the class to be. It IS an EASY A though if you show up to class I must say. Very little work is required, which I definitely am not complaining about. But if it comes down to an important course and this one, just pick the other and go with it.
Great teacher! You should attend all classes or else you will miss a ton of notes. A lot of material on each test but very clear. He also gives a lot of extra credit. I would recommend him
Good teacher, not the best not the worst. Test are difficult but he gives many opportunities to earn extra points.
GO TO CLASS. Seriously, if you want to do well on the tests you have to go to class. He gives tons of extra credit, pretty easy to end up with an A. He's a nice guy though, really smart & you can tell he loves biology. No need to buy the book!
He's a great guy, but the class is difficult. 7 tests. 8th one is optional. Gives a lot of extra credit before exams, so don't skip that day. Tutoring is provided. He talks really fast and he talks like you already know what he's talking about. If you aren't willing to study every day for at least an hour, don't take this class.
He's pretty good, the test are not easy, but they are not super hard. If you pay attention in class, you'll do fine.
Literally the BEST professor I've had at ECU. He's hilarious! Gives plenty of extra credit; TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! I've had him for 2130 and 4050 and it's been great! You will need to work for your grades and show up to class! Read the book if possible. It expands on what he teaches and with exams that's just Free Answer, it comes in handy.
This class was tough and did require quite a bit of advanced preparation for tests but it's not impossible to do well. The TA held review sessions before tests and that helped to determine what you needed to focus on most for the exam. Overall, not too bad of a class. Class is for an hour and 50 minutes but you always get out 20-30 mins early.
The class is huge so don't expect a one on one unless you initiate it. The tests will need to be prepared for but they are not impossible. He gives plenty of extra credit toward each exam, one take home exam, and a bonus exam that can only help your grade. The people I hear complaining are the ones who clearly don't study and fail the exams.
I love Professor Sutton. He is passionate about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable. He is usually a couple minutes late to class and won't talk to the class until he is ready to teach but you can tell that he is very well rounded and has a lot on his mind. Go to office hours and he will remember your name-which is always a plus.
Awesome professor. Gets to class about 10 minutes late, always lets it out early with a break in the middle of each lecture. 8 exams but also up to 12 points of extra credit given for each exam. Go to class, he gives even more extra credit when a lot of students don't show up. Take home exam & optional exam that only gets you more extra credit.
If you can take Dr. Sutton please do! He is so funny! He makes biology more interesting then it already is. He uses clicker questions like attendance, its 10% of your grade & its for completion not correct answers. His test are only 35 questions each and he drops the lowest test grade. Dont waste your money buying the book just get the access code
Dr. Sutton is a super great teacher, his tests are kind of hard, but with all of the extra credit he gives, and plus the extra credit exam, it makes it super easy to do well in his class! 10/10 would recommend! :)
I took Professor Sutton for BIOL1150/1151. I really enjoyed him as a professor, he really knows the material he teaches, and you can tell he enjoys what he does. Lots of group work throughout the class. Professor Sutton is usually about 10 minutes late to class and usually let us out 30-90 minutes early every class. STUDY & PAY ATTENTION!
Test are all written, note taking all lecture, and pop quizzes/papers given daily but as long as you apply yourself you will do great in the lecture and lab. Dr. Sutton is a great professor who answers any questions you have and explains things very well!
7 tests+final exam. extra credit test and one of the 7 tests are take home. he gives out a lot of extra credit in class, attendance isn't mandatory but if you want extra credit then you should go. never in class the full 1 hr and 50 min. the powerpoints are in the back of the textbook, so I recommend the book.
Very good at breaking down his material and relating it to relevant occurrences in life. Easy-going professor. Easy participation grade and some online work but not much at all. Offers multiple extra credit opportunities. Has a good sense of humor!
Lectures are ok, just pay attention to what he says and do the Pearson assignment. He goes over most of whats on the test, but sometimes goes off topic. Great professor and would recommend.
I dont understand why this profs rating is so high. He is unable to make Anat & Phys. interesting at all. He has made the subject completely boring and turned it into just rote memorization. I do not like the way he teaches (reading paragraphs of ppts) & did not learn much from his classes. I guessed on all of the tests (using old knowledge).
Sutton is a good teacher if your willing to read the textbook to prepare for tests. Lectures in class with group work. Occasionally puts notes online. Fairly easy tests.
Good professor, lectures are very long and boring. There are a lot of exams, however every single one has a quizlet to it with ALL the answers! I passed the class with a 91 and I HATE anatomy. Would definitely recommend taking this class with Dr. Sutton.
really great teacher, even though lectures are kinda boring and long. just read the textbooks, write down notes from that and study the terms and processes and the tests are pretty easy. plus there is a lot of extra credit to gain for each test and group work is our participation grade.
A little difficult but he gives you so many chances to not fail this class, go to class because he does explain everything very well. Tutoring also helps if you need it, hes a very cool guy and you can tell he loves talking about anatomy. Tests are hard though
Great guy, knows the material well. Goes off topic a lot, but goes over most everything you need to know. Just take good notes (ask him to post the PowerPoints), memorize the recitations (very representative of the exams), and do the extra credit papers. Also try and get a good group. Solid professor, just pay attention and it'll be easy.
Dr. Sutton is one of the most charismatic professors I've met who goes off topic down a rabbit hole and surfaces occasionally to the topic at hand. The amount of material covered in one class period is like drinking from a fire hose. If you show up, do all the extra credit and study outside of class to comprehend the material, you'll get an A.
i recommend taking sutton. super interesting class. tests are 3 questions essay style. know the key information. the second test is the hardest and they get harder as you go on. no final. first lab practical is difficult but doable, just study hard. second lab practical is easy.
Attendance is not necessarily mandatory but he gives out group work frequently in class. The group work is not a daily grade but he uses your participation in these at the end to give you an overall "group work" grade. You take 4 exams total but he offers lots of easy extra credit papers. overall a great professor and knowledgable of bio topics.
Dr. Sutton is a good teacher but his lectures can get boring. He always lets you out 30 mins- 1 hour early. The tests are hard but he offers a ton of extra credit. Final was extremely easy. Overall he's a nice guy and it's not a bad class, tests are just hard.
He's 15 minutes late to class every time and he skims through slides and doesn't bother to go over them thoroughly. When we ask for help he says read the book and the notes. He also says that some stuff on the notes will not be on the test but they end up being on the test.
He seems passionate about the material but he goes through it too fast and makes it unclear what exactly will be a focus on the test. Tests are really hard but he gives a surprising amount of extra credit and there's a groupwork grade as well. Textbook is "required" but doesn't help much. He's not the worst, but be prepared to study a ton.
If you arent good at bio, he lets you work your way to a good grade with huge amounts of extra credit. Great teacher, but most of the material is just from the book and slide shows.
he goes absolutely way too fast with the notes in class to the point where everyone in my lecture stopped trying to copy notes. only grades are tests and he gives some extra credit on all of them but I would literally never take this class again.
Dr. Sutton is a very smart man that knows his stuff! His class does not require attendance, but I recommend you go because he gives out group work and VERY HELPFUL extra credit opportunities. Don't buy the book unless you think you'll really need it, and just study well and you'll be fine.
This man should honestly be fired. For the last 3 classes (final exam review days) he has been MIA. When teaching he lectures on things that are not even related to exam material. Want to ask him about your grade via email? He will never respond. He gives a lot of extra credit, but does not keep track of extra credit points in blackboard.
he is extremely vague and doesnt go into much depth on content. Only has 3 exams throughout the course and then the final. But he does give tons of extra credit through group work. Just be prepared to read the textbook it helps more than his lecture.
he doesn't explain the topics well enough for the class to understand the material in each chapter. he goes over the lectures way too fast in class to be able to take good notes, but he does post the powerpoints on lectures consisting of 90-130 slides each, making it pretty hard to even know what to go over. lots of extra credit given in class
Dr. Sutton definitely knows his material! When it came to lectures, it was vague but still understandable. He offers a lot of extra credit. It definitely helped boost my grade from a B- to an A after I didn't do too hot on one of his exams. Definitely study the material.
Hes not great at conveying the material and only uses PowerPoints from the textbook to review information. Theres no attendance taken, but in class assignments are random and a big part of the grade. Thankfully he gives TONS of extra credit - do the extra credit.
Lectures were not that helpful, most of my notes came from the textbook. Many test questions did not relate to what we talked about in class or what is covered in the textbook. He doesnt respond to emails
DO NOT TAKE!!!! ABSOLUTELY DO NOT!!!! He has a really bad temper and will go off on students regularly. His exams are SO specific that unless you have the entire textbook memorized you will not get an A at all. The only upside is he gives extra credit but it is NOT worth it at all.
He gives an exam every other week and doesn't have one cumulative final at end of course. He gives a lot of chances to get extra credit. His lectures are long and confusing but just read book and take notes and you'll do fine. Exams are hard if you aren't prepared. He takes attendance by group work randomly so you kind of have to go to class.
I dropped his class after a couple weeks and it was terribly hard
DO NOT take this class with this professor. He is rude when you ask questions. He only gives exams so if you aren't good at big tests then you are screwed. He goes way too fast. He does not care about his students passing. Overall the worst class yet.
He doesnt really teach the material as much as he teaches us OF the material that we need to teach ourselves. Theres an exam every 2 weeks which I much prefer over a cumulative exam so that was nice. He had frequent group assignments to take attendance. He also gave the class several opportunities for extra credit. Hes kind of flaky though.
He teaches slides that correlate with the unit we are learning during class with the expectation to use the textbook and read the same units. Easy course to sit through if it's 50-minute sections. He likes to talk about random stuff a lot, but it's okay and entertaining, don't learn an insane amount from being in class. Read the textbook!
All grades come from exams or quizzes, very lecture heavy, and a lot of unit content has to be read and studied out of the textbook. Some weeks he will teach most of the content for the test and others will barely discuss it. Be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the information and attend any and all study sessions with your classmates!!!
7 tests, totaling to 70% of your grade. The other 30% is attendance which he takes randomly. Never got below an A on a test, didn't read the textbook once. Just listened to his lectures, wrote down what I needed to know, and studied that. He's a funny guy, and I actually liked going to class. Low key gonna miss this class
Professor Sutton is an amazing educator. You can tell he really wants his students to learn. There is always opportunities for extra credit before each test which is a godsend. Attendance list fully mandatory but there is random attendance. He really was one of the best, if not the best, professor I have ever had.
You had 2 options take 7 tests or write 22 pages. 7 of those pages had to be about the test topics and 15 of those were based on a 300 page book. One test was a take home and he thought he was an angel for that. All tests were curved. You could get a 70 on one test just by doing extra credit but only getting 20/40 of the questions right.
