Not a great teacher. What he talks about in class doesn't end up on the test, really. I took him for 2 classes, but dropped one, and in each he had us turn in only three 3-5 page papers and only 2 tests, the final and midterm. He gives good study lists tho, like 99% of the info is in the book.
Very helpfull teacher, he gives out a study guide before the mid-term and final, he'll review your research w/ you. Which helps a lot.
Easy teacher, i never studied in the class and i got a B. Just do all the extra credit assignemnts and study the sample midterms and finals, then u will do fine.

Hardest class i've had at CC. about 100% lecture, he thinks he's funny and he's not. When i took him, nobody got an A.
ohh.. what a drag, no one in my class got A. I had to scrape by just to pass this class. He rambles off subject and has a monatone voice. I wanted to pull my hair out.
this guy blows. i am a history major and hated this class. from the moment he walks in the class he starts talking, and doesn't stop till it's over. very boring and monotone. only one A, in the whole class of about 50.
Very boring, monotone and digresses way off track to old movies NO ONE has ever heard of!! Doesn't respond to emails, and his terms list he passes out is not very useful, considerating he talks so much about other things, which is why he falls behind in class.

This guy answered his phone during class 5 times yesterday!! The good thing is that he hands out study guides, and thats all you really need to study in order to pass the class. I haven't had homework yet, but there are a few extra credit assignments that should be turned in for a better grade. He looks like John Madden.
Very nice man, will work with you to get the grade you deserve. On the other hand, very boring, speaks in monotone so it is difficult to follow along. You are guarnteed at least a 'C' if you actually try, but can easily get a better grade.
Lol..well this guy is pretty okay..he does have a monotone voice that is boring, but I have never taken a history class that has been exciting or interesting. He cracks jokes alot and makes the class laugh! lol.Got to ask questions though or else you will be lost. He does take time to expalain though! Overall, kool guy and kool teacher.
Make sure u guys go to all of his lectures. Don't freak out about his class like those who rated him. I'm not an A student but his quite interesting and nice. He's a talker but it all relates to the subject & for the old movies that he brings in for viewing? Those are so important because ure essays could be from that. he bght us pizza. he's cool.
An old teacher who still reliaze on his old method to teach the class. Only communicates with himself, lets us have study guides with only the words, and waste our time. His teaching method is the worst and rely on the student to pass his class. he needs to be reported for all the students he fail and making America History absolutely boring.
Dr. Waszak is smart, but he likes to talk alot. He does know a lot about History though. THere is no way you can fail. He gives you a study guide, and even essay questions he is going to ask you. Just Don't miss class. Take notes, and it should be easy. You dont really use the book and its not cheap!
He's actually a doctor, so he ovbiously knows his stuff; he has a very dry sense of humor that I sometimes enjoy; he complains about traffic; he's extremely monotone; he's always late; his grading scale is very reasonable and ex cr is generous; I would avoid him if I had to take another of his courses again, but he's not all that bad.
To all the peeps that left a negative feedback for Wazsak...u guys don't know what you are talking about! what do you mean he doesn't know what he's talking about? Waszak has a freakin PHD for peet sakes!! u morons!! I don't love history but its interesting. He is an easy A and he give you extra credit opportunities. DO YOU EVEN READ THE CHAPTERS?
Mr Waszak is always late and blames it on traffic. It works out in our favor for the tests we all can compare answers to the study guide. I would not take another course with him. He likes to talk about random stuff like how Egyptian cotton is so soft. He is a walking historical encyclopedia. On average 20 mins into class 5 people were passed out.
He's a very interesting Intellectual ! He does have dry humor but you go with it..I had to do essay papers (3) and there as the midterm and the final. he's tests are easy b/c its the concept but do GREAT on the essay papers and do the extra credit and go to every class or no participation points. Easy A+ try to buy the older edition books if u can.
Dr. Waszack is a walking encyclopedia. His essays are easy and his tests are easier. Gives extra credit and even has sample tests that are very much like the actual exams. You MUST read the book to pass his class however, his test are more from the text content than his lecture.
Every lecture felt like one long speech. I tried to listen, but he just bored me too much to have interest in the subject. Some passion would have definitely kept me alert. I swear I almost fell asleep sitting during his lectures several times throughout the semester.
You want a boring teacher? Well here you go. Yeah, he has a PhD, but the guy bored me to death! I love history, but this goy made me hate it. I forgot how many times I fell asleep in his class, and more than half the students would walk out of his class during his lectures, including me. I don't recommend him to anyone.
He is a fountain of information. However, only has a midterm test and a final. Lots of information to have to remember and then some that he might not have gone over.
Saw him lose many students' work, very few assignments. His tests are intering and challenging but not good enough to redeem his awful class. He takes 20-30 minutes talking about nothing before beginning lecture. Doesn't understand simple questions. Very disorganized. Shows a lot of videos instead of teaching.
He's like the "John Madden" of history teaching. You can't even tell when he's lecturing or casually conversing with the class. He rambles in and out. His tangents are so far stretched, you can tell what to focus on... Eventually you drown out his talking and you can't remember much of the lecture. It's up to you to know what to read and study. He's never even sure of lectures to come. Side note: it took him the whole semester to realize he had the key to a projecter he had been trying to use.
Easy A as long as you do his papers and sign i. Hes very careless though, not a serious class but ehh i got my good grade
Bring HW/reading from other classes to do while he lectures. Don't take notes, textbook = BFF. All you need to know is the definitions of the terms on the study guides to pass the exams. Just 3 papers all semester. Do extra credit instead of one of the research papers. Extra credit = 7pts which = a C grade on one of the papers without writing it.
He is to history like John Madden is to football... Blabbering about and not necessarily making too much sense. He's a bit kind hearted, but his lectures were hard to follow. Although he writes out an outline, he doesn't follow it. He digresses frequently and somehow ends up talking about France in the end. He does provide extra credit, and you should complete it for security. Text is necessary to read on your own... If you can follow.
Dr. Waszak is a great professor at the Cerritos, he is funny and always tell jokes to lighten up the class during his lecture. Even-though most of time I would be falling a sleep 15 minutes into his class. Most important thing you need to do is 3 paper essay (I got 2 perfect score and a 9/10 last semester) Recommend if you want an easy A class.
I start with neg: 75% late to class, he spends time writing outlines wasting class instead of powerpoint, he is all over the place in lectures. There is 40%chance that he will lose your paper, not include a grade so you have to ask be sure you know your grade. Positives: watch lots of movies, DO 3 papers and do well in test you will get A! Boring
Very boring class. A regular day: Always 14 minutes late to class, blames traffic. Rambles on about different topics, takes out the roll sheet until halfway through the class. Never writes on the board, never writes notes, never assigns homework. Only 3 essays about 5 pages long. 2 tests, material not included in his study guide. Very vague/unclear.
Honestly hes cool if you want to pass take him he shows a lot of movies and does lecture dont get me wrong but hes awesome!.
HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED. I am in the middle of his course and I am struggling because of his lack of teaching skills. I am a 4.0 student. He is not helpful, he lost my first paper and is extremely boring. needs to retire ASAP
He is ready to retire, you can tell. Very unenthusiastic. gives study guides with material that isn't even discussed. Does not write proper useful notes. Pretty much just mumbles the entire class.
Class is a joke, tests are hard but papers are easy. Don't bother taking notes or even showing up to class, better notes exist online.
3 essays, midterm, and a final! You should understand all his lectures to pass his exams. very boring class
I see many people on here complaining; however, I never saw anyone, throughout the entire semester, stay after class to talk about the lecture, and ask questions, and I stayed after class many times. His class is difficult, because he rarely uses power point, and the notes are up to the student. He teaches straight from text, so read the book.
The easiest class I've taken. Only 3 essays and 2 tests for the whole class and he's lenient when it comes to grading. Although he will ramble off subject before class and sometimes during the lecture he is knowledgeable on the subject. I only wish that the class would have more detail. Otherwise great teacher and great subject
Easy grader. Just keep up with the textbook and you'll be fine. That's all there is to it.
Great professor that really knows his stuff. He was always very helpful and the exams are very easy. i'd definitely recommend him to anyone.
Terrible teacher. No Powerpoints or notes, only lectures. Very scattered and disorganized teaching style. Hardly referred to textbook. Study guides were completely useless! I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM!
Easiest class in campus. He just talks the whole period and no notes are needed because before the 2 tests (midterm & final) he gives in the class, he gives a sample test which is about 90% identical. Only two tests, 3 online quiz, and 2 essays. Extra Credit is given if you attend a museum
3 online quizzes that have largely nothing to do with the material covered in class, 2 papers, but give him only the gist, no need to do too much. A lot of people sign in for the day and then just leave, mostly due to the fact the exams are just the pre-tests renamed. He knows his stuff but he lets people take his carelessness as a weakness.
Lectures are long and boring. Gives you a study list for the tests. Pay attention in class to get the definitions of terms. Or you can find them all online. Will show you ridiculous amount of movies. Talks a lot during exam so it was hard to focus. but will give you the sample exam. (80 percent similar to exam) Memorize the definitions and pass!
He's so funny and passionate. I give him all the credit,in my opinion history is boring and hard to follow up.I'm currently taking his class, but some people make me so angry to get up and leave during his lecture. How rude can you be just drop the class! people are there to learn Don't leave during lecture it's not very polite.
He is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is extremely understanding, sweet, and funny. You can tell that he cares about his students. If you fail it's because you're easily bored and take his help for granted. His lectures can be long but honestly it's a small price to pay. I encourage many to take his class, but be respectful/grateful.
Fairly easy class. If you have a problem with something , he is very helpful. You get 3 quizzes , 2 test and two papers. You can get extra credit towards the end of the semester.
Lectures are confusing, he digresses often. 3 papers and a midterm and final is all that is required for the class. He gives extra credit for visiting museums. Makes history boring to learn. I do not look forward to his unorganized class that has no powerpoints. A lot of films are shown but they do not help you with the midterm or final.
Waszak to the average student comes off as boring. His lectures are long and half the class is usually gone. He throws out a lot of information during lectures which can be good for history majors, but most of it isn't testable. The class is rather easy and he is rather generous when grading. The practice test is 90% like the test. Don't drop.
Mr. Waszak is a wealth of knowledge and has his own unique sense of humor which will grow on you. His class was WesternCivilizations which covers from ancient Sumer to Early Middle Ages, including Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. He assigns papers which can be turned in early for feedback, youll read a chapter a week, and he gives study guides.
Best teacher ever . So chill , allot of movies and just listen to his lecture . A nice relief from the rest of my hectic schedule . I recommend to any student , he's really a great professor .
Only 3 papers due, all of which are really easy and quite short (3-5 pages), along with 2 exams. He showed many films during class, though none of them help prepare you for the exams and essays. The lectures were very unorganized, but the exams are easy enough for you to be able to get an A. Simply read the book and make your own notes. Easy A!
Easy class READ THE BOOK AND MAKE NOTES. He's a good teacher I just personally thought the lectures were boring. I missed class a lot and managed to pass with a B.
Honestly, i wish i never took him. He speaks so soft and you cannot hear anything. He plays a lot of movies, which is cool, but not enough.
I don't understand why he has such a low rating! He is a very good and passionate teacher. He may talk too much and be boring, but the class itself is an easy A. The people who commented probably didnt do so well, you get 2 exams, 2 quizzes, and 3 papers, all are easy. The study guides are helpful because of the questions, not so much for the ID's
Super easy A! Just refer to the free book he provides for you when it comes to filling out the study guide and working on the papers. Barely anyone shows up and those who do are just on their phones the whole time. He does give out practice exams that are just like the exams except for the vocabulary part. Also offers extra credit
Waszak's 242 class is an easy class but he's old school, so he speaks softly and slowly. Be ready to sit through long lectures and old history movies. My best advice when taking the class is studying on your own, read the book, and watch crash course videos on youtube.
Very good professor. Definitely lecture heavy. A bit old school in approach - very little slides. Shows relevant films. Calm and consistent demeanor. Has humor. Gives good feedback on papers. Genuinely wants to teach concepts and see his students do well.
This guy is something else. He has so much information that needs structure, but Is pleasant to be around. He could be strict and kick us off our phones but he doesn't which makes the lectures bearable, you will however hear real gems of humor that can go over peoples head, but if you pay attention you wont miss out.
The easiest class and professor I have ever had, very knowledgeable and nice. Lectures on the white board as long as you take notes and listen, you will pass this class easily. Attendance is no big deal, his exams are just like the study guide. I would do the study guide and memorize it and I would finish the exams in under 15 minutes. Easy A or B!
He is boring. Plus, he is unclear of lectures he rambles and goes off topic all the time. I'm still in session with him and I'm thinking about dropping
Professor is an old school joe. Professor lectures are long and boring. Gives extra credit and shows two videos in class.
Allows you to turn in essays for review before their due. Super nice, fair, and cares about his students. He gives two exams, a mid term and a final. Both exams are out of a blue book. He gives two essays and for each essay he gives you 3 or 4 different essay topics to choose from.
honestly he isn't bad , kids are use to the new way of teaching with power points or technology interactive classes ,hes old school he talks or shows videos u will hav to pay attention n write down important stuff, he answers ur questions ,hes nice and full of knowledge if u dont like old school dont take him ,if u dont care like me then hes good!
he isnt bad just old school , my only problem he promised class to end 20 or 30 min early since he doesn't give us a break in between our 3hour class ,but he doesn't pay attention to the time n often miss my bus n also n emailed him about an emergency about missing class one day n if I missed any assignments he never emailed back
i can see y alot of people rate him a 3 but he isnt bad hes just old school he gives study guides for tests(theres 3 test-test#1,midterm, final)hands out essay questions over 2 weeks before its due(only 3 essays nothing over 3pgs lon) and 2 online quizzes, and gives extra credit hes a nice guy he does show videos and movies which i dindt mind!
hes really easy to pass do your work and you will at least get a C, he offers extra credit the only reason people complain is because they have to pay attention in class since he doesnt do power points, people are spoiled with technology now and days , but hes great and super sweet take him watch history movies it's hard not to pass
he offers extra credit, hes an easy teacher to pass do your work he isnt a tough a grader the only reason hes rated so low is probably because he doesnt have power points, and he talks throughout the class yeh it ain't interesting but hes full of knowledge just pay attention take notes and do study outside class I enjoyed his class very much
study guide is EXACTLY like the test. study guide has 10 vocab. but you need to only know ANY 7. In the study guide there is three topics to write about you decide which you want to write so only study ONE. 3 written assignments that are google searches away. I RECOMMEND, movies relate to the lecture, don't do the list of words. DO THE study guide!
it may not be a fun class but it was easy to pass because hes a good teacher n I paid attention in class yeh long lectures but he has a clear grading criteria offers extra credit just study he gives u a study guide which makes things super simple he should have a higher rating honestly hes nice, shows history movies
he is so sweet take his class yeah his lectures are long and sorta boring but get over it, he teaches well helps you out wen help is needed just study is all and take notes exams are like the study guide he gives what more do you want
Professor Waszak is an amazing person. He is very understanding, and if you ask him for help he will try his best to help you with what he can. Yes, his lectures can be a bit boring, but he is really nice and tries his best to help you out when you ask for it.
Professor Waszak is very knowledgeable and you'll definitely learn in his class. He gives extra credit and make sure to ask any questions during his lecture. I enjoyed his class so much that I'm taking him for another History class. If you get the opportunity to take his class I highly recommend it!
He seems like a very good professor and really wants everyone to pass. He is an easy grader and offers extra credit. I do not recommend taking an online class with him because his internet connection is terrible. You cannot understand the majority of what he is saying and he often freezes on screen.
Took him for Fall 2020, hes a pretty easy grader. We had 2 pop quizzes which are a little tricky and his study guide didnt really help but his midterm and final exam are easier than the pop quiz. 3 essays, you have 3-4 different topics to choose from. Other than that hes very sweet and caring and just wants you to pass the class.
Took his class b4 covid. Man. You literally have to try to fail this class. What makes Professor Waszak such a good professor is his empathy and willingness to help you learn the material. He treats you like a human. Easy going guy. Clear lectures and assignments. If i was a history major I'd take all his classes.
Easiest professor. Anyone with under an A did not try. very easy grader as long as you do the work. He also has a maximum on essays instead of a minimum.
Honestly his class was easy, no assignments. his lectures were boring and sometimes he'd talk about random things and he puts up a lot of movies but he's really nice. The only things that were graded were 2 practice quizzes, 2 papers one due on the mid term Exam and the other due on the final.
Professor Waszak was inspirational in History class and had a great time explaining his class was flexible and nice with students just need to submit their in time his assignments and they will be great in his class I recommended taking his class and love it his class.
He's a rambler who mumbles, but his online sources are clear. You can't read his writing when he grades papers, but if you're like me who has an A then that 1-3 points off don't really matter.
He's a really lax person. Tests are easy. Just sit there for the whole time if you can for his lectures. If you have to let him know something let him know in person because he won't see it if it's by email or dm on canvas.
His lectures are mostly just knowledge based and he doesn't really have any helpful/accessible slides he uses in his presentations for notes. We had 3 papers and he only has a maximum word count requirement. Additionally, we had a midterm that just requires high school history knowledge! assignments wise, easy. Just go to class for credit.
Easy class as the midterm and final just asks you to explain what something is and why is it important The essays are very easy as well as they aren't really time consuming I also feel like the stuff he discussed in his lectures are stuff we were taught in HS with a hint of extra information I did not know about I also found him very funny at times
