Not very exciting class (lecture everyday), but very straightforward. Must read the book & attend lecture for good grade. 1 page notes allowed for midterms. Midterms are long and you'll run out of time if not careful. Like your grade at the end of the semester and you don't have to take the final! overall recommend!

Profesor Doty is a great guy. I have only two problems whith his teaching style. 1. I do not undersand how his curve works. 2. we are adults so why does the sylabus always change. this made it extreemlty difucult to know what was expected on projects, and written assignments. Test not hard, but curve make it a crap shoot to pass.

Prof. Doty is an incredible instructor. He's passionate and the material is applicable in the business world. He is not "easy" however. You must attend class and actually read the book. He grades on a very generous curve and if you like your grade prior to the final, you don't have to take the final exam.

Doty is the worse professor at San Jose State. Exhaust all possibilities before enrolling in one of his classes. For midterms he requires that you read eight chapters, answer 100 multiple choose question and to answer three essays questions ? which he doesn?t tell you exactlywhat those questions are. Orwhat material is relevant.Plus his an old fart

The lectures are a little dull but you will greatly benefit from attending class regularly. Lots of Pop quizzes. The textbook will be your new best friend - get to know it well. The exams are long mostly multiple choice and short answer. KNOW THE CASE STUDIES and you should be fine. Essay assignments were very straightforward & he grades them easy.

IF you pass with a C, you can celebrate your hard work in his class. The exam is overloaded: 61 M/C and 2-3 essays qestions in 1.15 hour.He asks for very details for essay question, if u miss 1, u loose points. He expects students know EVERYTHING in textbook, his lectures, & be able to apply it in real organizations. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Doty is a real good teacher. I had him for 161A and 161B. His lectures are based on the powerpoint. There are three midterms and an optional final if you don't do well on the midterms. There are also cases which are best out of five. Allowed one page of notes for the test. If you read the book and ask him questions, you'll do well in the class.

Very hard grader. One midterm had only 12 multiple choice and 5 mandatory essays!! I studied and still flunked the midterm. Very subjective with his grading and vague when it comes to tests. He wouldn't tell us what to expect for essays and often doesn't even read essays completely and marks you down anyway. Avoid taking him if you can!

Prof Doty is an excellent professor with real world experience. You don't have to take the final if you like your grade from the 3 previous mid-terms. I had him for both 161A & B. Simply put, you just need to read the text, attend classes and ask questions to get an A or B. If you're a slacker, pick another professor.

The hardest MT's I have ever taken. You're supposed to know EVERYTHING from the book. Mr. Doty rarely reads through all papers, but puts a grade and when asking for a re-read, he actually grades what you're worth (so make him re-read your papers). Doty is a grumpy old man, not very approachable when assistance is needed.

He is tough, it sucks that he is also teaching 161b. I do not recommend this professor unless you love reading, you're expected to know everything from the book. His exams are hard and long, you do not have enough time to take the exams if you have any struggle on few questions. You will never get full grade on your essays, either.

Changed his teaching style since last semester. Now uses multiple choice from publishers, all definitions. 4 exams, lowest dropped (so final could be optional). Tests are longgg like 70 MC, 2-3 essay. Hard to finish. Allows one front side notes, put all definitions on it and be able to find them to fly through test. 2 papers, easy. 1 presentation.

I have a 3.7 GPA at SJSU and have never come across a professor with an agenda like him. I received a D on a paper for no reason at all. Granted there were a few gramatical errors but everyone around me got A's! I read their papers and their subject matter was very similar to mine. Not a nice guy in my opinion. Doty loves to hear himself talk, so don't expect much back and forth. He is very opinionated and pompous, which shows in his grading. Doesn't believe in partial credit, which sucks because his midterms consist of three or four essays -- which he will give you a 0 for if he doesn't agree with your answer. Overall, terrible instructor.

Worst. Teacher. Ever. The class average for my period was roughly 60% and he blamed us. I spoke up and told him that if a class average is that low, it is the teaching, not the students at fault. He got defensive and turned down my opinion. His lectures are boring and straight from the book. He comes across as angry and bitter. Avoid at all costs.

I don't know if he changed this sem, but I did fine (A). 3 Midterms taken STRAIGHT from publisher (you can have 1 sheet of notes) and the essay portion was always take home, optional final, 1 company group project/presentation, short quiz on ch. every week, and 1 personal profile paper. If you put in a good effort, you should get an A or B.

In order to pass this class you much attend class, take notes and ask questions. It is imperative to read the textbook and the extra book he has you read. He expects you to be able apply what you learn. Some find this difficult. He give multiple choice exams and way too many essays for each exam. Just watch your clock. Team projects were fun.
