I took this class because I did not see any comments about this teacher. Why? This is the WORST TEACHER EVER! She do not give your test back nor do she go over it. She explains this is a hybrid class and she don't have time. You know if a teacher don't have time something is wrong especially when she is getting paid for it. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER
This professor is HORRIBLE! Its a hybrid class and the only way you learn is by myeconlab.com and the textbook. she talks way too fast and doesnt clear things up. she tries to be funny but in reality shes just annoying. the test are so hard! you get a damn midterm the week before the final! seriously, just run!
re exam. she tells students to come see her to review the exam. I did that for the first midterm and she spent an hour with me. My first midterm I got a C. The second I got a B. She teaches well, uses current examples like the tsunami in Japan. Midterms were equally split. Final cumulative. Recommend only if you willing to work and not whine.
This teacher is a great lecturer. i am not very fond of Economics but she help me enjoy them. If you want an experienced teacher that knows the subject and likes to teach take her class. I took the class this last Spring, and it was a great experience.
liked her teaching style and sense of humor. she's tough but I learned a lot. It's good that she doesn't go over tests results in class. You want to waste class time listening to why other people didn't get it? Taking her again this term. Hard work but great teacher. Hybrid = 1x a week.
Her class is difficult! She says on the 1st day that 60% of her students fail the class! That's not encouraging at all, her tests are tricky and youre expected to remember material from 6 chapters and somehow pass! She knows a lot about economics but she expects her students to just understand it as easily as she does. I would not recommend her!!
Very Difficult. She lets you know its a good chance your gonna Fail. She has a sense of humor but who cares when over half the class is failing. Very Rude, Ask the wrong question and she looks @ you with a very Condescending look. NEVER AGAIN!
It was a very difficult class I would run away from this professor. I barely passed and she told me at the beginning of class that 60% of her class had last year failed.
She tells you at the begining of class not to stay if you don't want to work. Each midterm covers 6 chapters. final is all chapters. provides reviews of tests, gives a lot of review material in class. Fair teacher. But tough. Don't take this class if you don't want to work. She expects students to be college level and not highschool.
had a B after all the exams. didn't turn in paper. She encouraged me to turn it in. Got an A. Awesome prof who spends time with students, gave detailed lecture notes online, lots of review tests, very patient but not a pushover. Don't blow off class. sometimes she uses words I didn't understand. Super smart
took both 2301 (spring 11) and 2302 (Fall 11) hybrids. great prof. detailed notes & review tests. talks REALLY fast even outside class. very knowledgeable about economics. great prof. highly recommend.
love her class! always interesting, very funny, knowledgeable. very kind and patient teacher. wish she taught more classes. have to pay attention, she talks very fast and teaches fast too. uses some powerpoint but writes a lot on board.
took 2302 then 2301. should have done in reverse. 2302 is much harder. BEST TEACHER EVER. Very very funny, great examples, keeps you interested in topic. Wish we had eco major so I can take more classes. What people say about her talking fast is true. She talks like a bullet train.
took spring 2009 micro 2302 f2f. took fall 2011 hybrid 2301. very good prof, but tough. hybrid was faster than f2f. still used econlab which was good. she's actually more lenient now compared to before. is much kinder n nicer than first impression. easy on eye too.
coolest prof EVER. comes to class with stuff about NFL, Southwest, diamonds, all real stuff that is interesting to talk about, and puts them in economics. don't care what grade I'll get cuz I'm learning so much. very pretty too and funny. going to take her next class for sure! super smart, helpful, TAKE THIS CLASS!you won't be bored!
she gives two midterms and 1 final. second midterm is easier than first. final is very easy!!! nice prof, very helpful, always smiles and has a joke to tell. very smart too. good to talk to and gives great career help and advise
She is from Australia I think. Has a strong accent. Had to take macro again and should have the first time with her. She is freaking HILARIOUS! also very smart. You can ask her anything and she can make u understand. She loves rugby so if you want to impress her, say something about rugby. Very pretty too.
The 1st test is like sheâ??s trying to kill you. If you hang in there, it gets better. Sheâ??s really good, but tough. The first day of class, she covers TWO chapters. If she catches you texting in class, you are so dead. It will count AGAINST you even if she never says anything to you. don't be stupid because she sure as hell is NOT.
not an easy class or prof but so far my fav prof. really knows her stuff, knows international stuff and very interesting to talk to. has great sense of humor, likes to joke with students sometimes but always very professional. take her only if you can handle a lot of work in short time, hybrid is tough and she does not teach f2f. kind too.
I took her class a year ago and passed. Taking it again cuz I need a b to get into cob. Hwrk is less now but she still has high expectations for students. U will learn n laff a lot but it will b tough class. She's about 35 so she still has good attitude for students. Still uses myeconlab. New textbook now. 3 exams n no paper. No extr credit
it IS a difficult class, but if u fail, it is ure fault. She reset hwk deadlines, gives bonus pts in exams, tell u what type of ? b on tests, gives review questions, gives practice test & takes higher grade! Come on! Very fair teacher, just don't miss class bec she hands out material in class. & for godsake don't text in class, u will lose pts!
1st half is killer. 1st exam is hard but has bonus questions. 2nd exam not so many. 3rd none. teaches fast, Dr. K is a good prof, only teaches what matters. tells u what 2 ignore. final is super easy. my advise, don't try to bs her. last class we reviewed for final, so don't miss.
took hybrid 2301 with Dr K & 2302 with Dr. Chu. Dr K covers more chapters in less time. Dr Chu's accent is harder to understand. Both are good profs. Dr K has more energy & is more demanding, but worth it. Class was always interesting. Both use MyEconLab.
not the easiest class, but very fair and reasonable prof. gives practice tests and takes higher score for grade. has good sense of humor and is interesting teacher. recommend, but must come to class
don't miss first day of class. she actually teaches 2 chapters the 1st day. hybrid class is only 1x a week but covers same 3 of stuff as normal class. prob even more bec she teaches a lot fast. weekly quizzes and homework. good teacher. just don't miss class 1st day or any day. take notes & pay attention.
had dr trevino last year for 2302. took it this spring with dr k to try for higher grade. dr trevino is laid back. dr k is very intense. hybrid is harder than f2f. i like both profs but made same grade. going to try chu next.
i was scared of her bec of some reviews. but she is really awesome. i had a b in macro, and a d in micro with her after the final, she gave me the chance to finish incomplete work and i got a c in micro. don't believe the bad stuff anyone says, dr k rocks.
i read all the reviews. the bad ones are 2 dramatic. SHe is an excellent and serious prof who gives students chances. I did all the work & studied, got A. She does go over a few questions on exams, & also tells u what will be on exam. u just have to LISTEN. She is very direct so if ure sensitive, don't take her. I'm taking her 2301 next.
2301 (b) 2302 (a) great prof. is super strict in beginning but lot of laffs after midterm. always has time for questions. very cute. sexy voice lol. maybe need to write bigger on board. nice person.
don't bs her. don't make excuses for not doing stuff. she will give students chances and if you get one, don't blow it. check BBL. don't ask her ? already on the syllabus or BBL. That's kinda stupid & you won't win points. Great prof, explains well. talks fast so take notes. really smart, makes eco fun. Dr. K is 1 of the best profs I've had.
I took 2301 and 2302 in the same semester with Prof K. She's very reasonable. Gives a lot of online review stuff. Can be a little impatient if you don't know how to do simple percentages. can't really blame her. even some of the students got fed up with the ones who didn't know how to +,-,X or +! She's cool.
need more profs like her. made me think outside the box, always enjoyed classes. exams a little hard at first but easier over time. recommend but know that she is not a pushover. she's very blunt also. Be polite and respectful, and you'll get a lot of help.
she scared me badly 1st day of class but dr k has been the best teacher I have had in all my time in college. I have never known a teacher who cared as much for their students or take as much time to help them. Take this class, she can be scary, but the class is very interesting. if you suck at first, but do well in the end, you get good grade.
very nice teacher. reminded me to finish extra credit that bumped me from B to A. wish she taught more classes.
this class killed me, but i learned so much from this teacher. i learned more from her class than the easy class i had last year with another teacher. it is a lot of work, but overall worth it. she is strict at first but is really nice also.
She is intimidating at first but when you get to know her she is very cool and understanding! Her test are somewhat difficult, but if you go to class, read the book and study you will pass! I thought for a moment I was not going to pass this class but with the extra credit she gave it bumped my grade from an D to a B!! Awesome teacher
her class is tough. but she is the best economics professor I've ever had. If you do all the online work, come to class, read the book and take all the extra credit opportunity, you will be ok. I got high 70s - mid 80s on my exams, but ended up with an A. I will take her other class for sure.
she is good teacher but i should have taken 2x a week class, not hybrid online because i needed more class instruction. i also don't like macro. dr.k is very nice and helpful. if she teaches 2x a week i will take her class.
good teacher, knows her stuff. tests are hard, but gives lot of review online. lenient and helpful.
In all my years in college, I never had a professor who cared so much for students and did as much to help me get through the courses. I took both hybrid macro & micro (B) 3 exams, 20,20 & 30% each, but final, if you got 20% more than lowest midterm, she weighed it 70%. Great person.
tests are hard, classes good, interesting. do all the extra credit you can if she has it, do myeconlab ALWAYS. good professor.
i'm taking her 2302 this year. she is very helpful. i learned a lot. for hybrid, it has the same chapters as the 2xweek class, so it feels fast but she is very good at condensing information. hybrid is more work than f2f but worth it if you short on time. just do the work and go to class every week
I thought I was going to fail. The tests are so hard. But she is very helpful and wrote a review for the final. I did all the myeconlab work and the extra credit quizzes, and got a B even though my exams sucked. don't take this teacher if you don't want to work. the lectures are interesting but the tests are hard.
I took this as a hybrid class so it was kinda tough but i passed with an A. she is so nice and tries her best to be as helpful as possible. she offers a lot of extra credit points. her tests are somewhat difficult but she always offers reviews for the test. there's in class quizzes every time we met and they weren't that bad. I recommend her class
After the first test I thought for sure I was going to fail the class. But she gives lots of extra credit ! Just make sure you do the work! And aplia. I didn't do to well on the tests but still ending up making a B in the class !!
She was super nice and I even thought I knew what she was teaching. The test proved me very wrong. Even with hard work, the struggle was real. I asked her if one of her 75 question work sheets would help me study and she said no...What's the purpose? There is extra credit, but maybe I wasn't quick enough to understand. I would never take her again.
She has examples of multiple choice questions for every chapter in blackboard - about 20-40 questions, and these were very similar to the tests. I used these to study and got 80-90% on the tests. I didn't bother reading the textbook because her class is so clear. Taking her for Macro now. Easier than Micro.
best online course I've ever taken. Very organized teacher, good videos, most helpful prof
Tests were hard. Highest I made on them was a 76 but with a high homework grade and extra credit I made a B. She offers a lot of extra credit and if I would have studied harder I would have made an A. I should have taken it in class instead of online but overall I learned a lot. Good class.
never had an online class with so many online resources to help us learn. extra credit trips well worth my time. we got free tickets to OTC and it was a blast. toured the federal reserve and went to a fancy networking event with free food and drinks. my highest test score was 80 and with extra credit and high aplia, I got an A.
Very difficult course! However, don't allow for that to get your hopes down. After the first test, I was extremely bummed (considering I had spent countless hours studying for it). But with all the extra credit, it is nearly impossible to fail this course. Just keep up with the reading and maintain a high score on your APLIA HW. Great instructor!
Exams were difficult and heavily concept based similar to Aplia Homework. Aplia homework counts(your highest score). Extra credit trips worthwhile and educational. Not an easy A course. If you attend extra credit trips and make effort in class a high "C" or "B" is poss plus she'll add the extra credit pts. That should bump you up to "A".
I got 87.5 my first exam and 95 the second and 90 on the final. Not sure why others think exams are difficult. Good class, great instructor. Didn't do the trips but took the finance survey and did the online extra credit practice tests. Her videos are very helpful.
took her hybrid macro last year for macro, got a C. Really liked her class so took micro online. Both were good but I like hybrid bec it's easy to ask her ?. She does that online too but you have to make more effort yourself, and if you're in a class with her, you can ask her after class. online videos are good.
Very knowladgeable professor. Only thing is she does talk super fast and goes through a ton of information. I barely passed all my tests but did the homework and a lot of extra credit and made an A at the end of the semester. Overall she is super nice and provides ton of extra credit. Do the extra credit and homework and you should be fine.
tests were easy with only a few tricky questions. Aplia was more difficult than tests. Final was easier than both midterms. Teacher is helpful. Course requires effort but I didn't find it difficult to get 90s on tests.
Her tests are actually easy. I over thought them and changed my answers when I had the right one. I thought it couldn't be that simple, but sure enough it was. She's a good teacher and very helpful. Take good notes, and take the time to see her. I reviewed my tests with her, emailed her about Aplia, and the way she explains things really help.
She is very nice, the final counts a little too much in my opinion but she is good.
This was harder than my 2302 class but I learned way more with her. She is a serious and excellent professor. My tests were not great but my Aplia and in class quizzes were very high. I went to one event. If I had done the online quizzes, I probably would have gotten an A. She is very helpful and kind.
My major complaint is that there is so much information I ended memorizing for the tests, instead of actually learning the material. The tests are really tricky and you have to complete the test is an obnoxiously short amount of time. I would never take any class with this teacher again. The only highlight was that she offered a lot extra credit
i've taken many online courses and she is an exceptional educator. Her course is very well laid out. The material is challenging but this is an economics course. If you're looking for an easy course take 1301 which is baby economics. The tests were easy because I took the online quizzes (extra credit). I got above 90 on the three tests.
Excellent teacher. Course well designed. You don't need extra credit if you do the work. I made an A in the summer course with tests of 80 and 100% on Aplia and a higher grade on the final. Don't know why some reviews say tests are hard. Very good at answering emails and questions. Also very understanding with work conflicts.
This teacher is very tough! She grades hard and is not very clear. She gets angry when you ask a question and she teaches very fast. She barely emails you back. The amount of studying you do for this class makes you neglect all your other classes! Yea, she gives a ton of extra credit, but the extra credit is HARD. Don't take her. DONT!
Tests are multiple choice and very straight forward. Pay attention in class and you'll pass easily. Responds to emails very quickly. Took her last summer for online, took hybrid Micro this term. She gives lots of examples in Micro and helps a lot. You have to be stupid to fail this class or find it hard.
Took both hybrid 2301 2302 this fall. Was a great experience. Prof always willing to answer questions, answers emails fast, and explains clearly. Very fair on exams, gives back points when she felt question not good. Wish she taught more eco classes. recommend strongly but you must be willing to do homework and not skip class.
I wouldnt say the class or tests is easy but she is incredibly kind and encouraging for an online teacher. I will probably have to retake the course, and I will take her again for 2301 and the other eco too. She is a very good teacher. To be fair, i just had too many classes and a new job at the same time. I learned a lot and used it at work.
It's hard because there's so much to learn but she's very helpful. Me and another girl met her weekly after our first test, and it really helped us. She always answered our emails really fast too. She's tough with deadlines and doesn't change them. Overall, we had good experience with this teacher. My friend made an A and I got a B.
Here is the thing DO THE EXTRA CREDIT it doesnt go to test grade or to assignment grade. It goes to the final grade of the class, and she gave like 12 points. On top of that she is very helpful, the content is somewhat difficult but it is nothing that cannot be done.
Prof K., is a great instructor who really wants you to learn the material. You'll have to read the textbook along with the powerpoint lectures. She gives practice tests & a few extra credit opportunities. Extra credit may be meeting her at a local conference, or the Fed reserve as long as it's not costly to the student. Very helpful! Wants u 2 pass
3rd time taking the class, but 1st time with prof K. Should have taken her from the start. I PASSED!!! with a B!!! BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD. really likes her topic, funny, and so helpful. I didn't like eco before and now I totally get it. THANK YOU PROF!!!
online quizzes 10 extra points possible. easy essay 1 point. 2 trips each 2 points. The quizzes were easy to do & really helped me prepare for the tests. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. I didn't go on the trips but got 8 extra credit points. My total grade was 98 points. You have to be lazy to fail this course.
She works as hard as you do. Seriously, she is tough but works hard to give clarification, and to help you as much as you ask for it. Her tests are tough but she grades them quickly. She responds quickly to questions and welcomes interaction. I highly Recommend her if you really want to learn something!
DO NOT TAKE THIS LADY!!! Her online test are hard. She is not understandable, logical or helpful. Extra credit will help but if you want to learn I would not take her, if you want to play the "memory games" meaning study just to memorize for the tests, then maybe. I regret taking this course.
Best online class I have taken. Her online videos are crystal clear. Extra credit quizzes really helped me prepare for tests. She answered every question I emailed. Extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with. I am taking her again for 2302. My test scores 90s. Aplia was 100. With extra credit I made 106.
Do the work by the deadline. There is no "attendance". Tests are multiple choice. how can that be tough grading?! She is very fair. If she thinks a question was misleading, she gives credit for it. She spent 90 mins with me on the phone going over my online test. It really helped. Don't understand how ppl complain when she is one of the best
Prof is very helpful. Extra credit work is very easy. Lectures are fun. Tests somewhat challenging but can be done. I made high 70s- low 80s on tests. With good homework scores and extra credit, I got an A. My friend got a C but prof reminded her to turn in essay and that bumped his grade to B. Prof is really nice.
economics is not suppose to be hard. i took her class in 2014 and all i can say is that she find a way of making tests very hard. she is funny and nice, and she is very clear too. one thing that i appreciated was the extra credits. i would take her as a mentor for life, however i wouldn't take her as grading professor. i would not take her again.
Some of the reviews surprise me. I took Micro Spring 2014 and Macro Fall 2014. Micro was harder than Macro but I found the tests to be straight forward. I made high 80s and low 90s. Only missed 3-6 questions.I didn't find the tests hard at all. Economics is not supposed to be "easy". You have to understand things and think logically.
I only came to class to take the quizzes which were about 10 minutes, then I went back to work. I had Macro with her before and it was really good. For Micro I used the videos and didn't have time for the online credit, but got a B. She doesn't expect you to memorize, but she wants you to understand.
She was very active in online class. Really cares about students and wants you to understand the material. Answered all emails and helped anytime I didn't understand something. Economics is a hard subject but I passed with an A with extra credit. Tests from test banks so you must study from the book, but she also posts lectures online to help.
responds to emails and questions within a few hours. gives good help with the test preparation. good teacher. JUST DO THE HOMEWORK AND THE EXTRA CREDIT and you should pass with at least a B.
Extra credit is worth the effort. Tests were pretty easy for me. I can't understand why some people say her tests are hard. I was scoring 88-93 on the tests. You do have to study. I studied before class and spent about 2 to 3 hours preparing for each test before the test. I probably spent an hour more on this class than my other classes.
I was scared by economics, but every time I asked her a question, she always responded very clearly. She saved my semester. I liked her course so much that I'm taking 2302 this semester, and it's going even better because I'm used to how she teaches and I understand economics better. Just do the homework and the extra credit.
For an online teacher, she is very interactive and one of the kindness teachers I've had at UHD. I was freaking out before my first test, and she helped me calm down and I ended up doing better than I thought. I had a family member pass away and I missed one test, and she emailed to ask me what happened, and she let me take the one I missed.
gives you lot of chance to pass course. very organized material, very helpful esp if u have memory and learning disability (me). very kind person. really good explanation. highly recommend. must do all homework and all quizzes. tests not too hard but u have to study. very encouraging teacher.
Great lecturer - Crystal clear instructions at the start of semester. Tons of extra credit opportunities. Personally interested in you. Reviews b4 tests. My test scores were only in 73-83 range since I'm a terrible test taker, but with extra credit hwork and quizzes, I walked into final only needing a 65 to get an A. Will take any of her courses!
Amazing teacher. Great attitude. Very clear instructions and lets you know exactly what is needed to do well in the course. Tests cover same material as the homework assignments. Lots of extra credit opportunities. She genuinely cares for the success of her students. I would take her for any class
I loved the class. It was tough, but if you read the book, do all the assignments, and do the review you will do decent in the class. She tries to connect the material to real world situations and just wants you to understand the material.
Lectures were usually 40 minutes long. Her tests are kind of tough, but if you did her homework and extra credit quizzes you would pass the class. Ended up with 15 extra credit points added onto my final grade. Easy A.
She is a good teacher overall, her online assignments are super easy, but i must say her exams are worded very broadly and you can easily get confused with various definitions. I am taking her for a Hybrid class and sadly she does not lecture in class and the teacher whom lectures in class goes very off topic from what should be thought.
Dr. Karkoviata is a really good teacher. If you read the chapters in the book in succession with her lectures (and online videos as well), then you will do great. I took her this semester and, without extra credit, ended up with an A. You will do best in this class is you take the time to understand what it is that you're learning. HW online (easy)
She is a great teacher BUT make sure you sign up for HER class and NOT the team taught classes where an adjunct lectures. She came in once to lecture and it was like night and day between her and the adjunct. Her videos are good, the online work is easy and she is a great teacher. She is very accessible and always answers emails.
Her classes are IMPOSSIBLE to fail. Tests are exactly as she says, follow the outline she gives. Take advantage of all the extra credit. the field trips are worth the effort. I took the f2f class with her and the hybrid in her name but taught by someone else. My advice is to only take the classes she teaches directly. Impossible to fail.
lot of ext cred op. just took the final - super easy. Great professor, very helpful, fast email answers. I don't like the team taught class but when I had a problem with the other prof, Dr.K was helpful. 3 tests, 1st and 3rd easier than 2nd module. would take again.
third time lucky 2302. First two times I had Thai, nice guy but does not teach. I dreaded this class, didn't like economics, thought it was be boring. Dr. K is AWESOME. She totally makes economics make sense. Even though it's still hard, I really felt like I learned things. Tests are tough but the final is easier than expected. Take her!
This semester was a hybrid class and Professor K did not lecture our class, but we had an adjunct professor, which confused me completely. Basically you need to read the book, watch the videos, STUDY STUDY STUDY; you'll be fine. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities to boost your grades, which helps a lot. Don't take the class with adjunct
If you want Dr. K to teach you, don't take the team taught class. It says on the sign up that there are two professors. She does the program but the adjunct teaches. Dr.K is very organized and responsive. The adjunct was disorganized and went off topic a lot. Do all the extra credit, email Dr.K, and watch her videos.
I took her for a Hybrid; she is a MUCH better lecturer than adjunct. Do weekly HW on Aplia, read the text, watch her videos and do ALL the extra credit. Extra credit saved me! Tests are tough due to the wording. Gives 1 comprehensive review outline at the beginning, start filling it out ASAP. DO YOUR HW IMMEDIATELY WHEN THE TERM BEGINS!
I took Dr K's f2f Micro and the team taught online Macro. She is a great lecturer, but both courses were excellent. Our adjunct Ms. Edwards was fantastic, did reviews almost weekly, it's the first online class that felt like a hybrid. Dr. K also checked up on us in the online. Overall, very positive experience, but taking 2 eco is tough.
Great instuctor
I took Dr.K's face to face Micro 2302. She is extremely nice and helpful. I made an A with all the extra credit she offered (there is A LOT of extra credit opportunities). This class is not hard if you attend class, do your hw, and study. Great experience overall.
I just went from a D to a B. She saved my semester and my $$. I love this professor. DO THE HW and every extra credit you can. It's really easy stuff. You can have test scores of 70 and still have an A. I didn't do all the extra credit, but thanks to her help, I made that B. Best online experience ever.
I came into class thinking economics is boring and i'd waste my time. WRONG. Dr.K is hilarious in her lectures. She really knows her subject. Tied all the concepts in micro to something in the news, or our lives. BEST ECO PROF to take. extra credit stuff like trip to Fed, economic club meetings, etc. Aplia is easy, tests a bit tricky. A+++
great prof. gives you LOT of chances to pass the course. very organized, clear instructions, did I say LOT OF CHANCES. Don't blow it. Some chapters are hard but others are easy. HW is super easy. Just knock them out. Do any and all discussions or extra credit offered. Taking her for 2301 next.
Her tests are tough, and the material is hard. But she's worth taking because she cares so much about her students. If you're not doing good, she will reach to you and help you a lot. It means a lot to have a prof who gives so much help. You don't have to get 100% on tests, but you have to really try to understand, and show that you try.
I will admit that I was not interested in this class and did not study that much. But I did my homework assignments. I failed evey single test including the final but I ended up with a C. This was due to extra credit and doing my aplia. Professor K is very reasonable and will help you out if you at least try. Study though for the test!
Start on Aplia immediately, read the chapter, watch her videos, use the outline she gives you. I got an A without any extra credit. Her lectures are funny . she's very personable and knowledgeable. Some questions on test were a bit confusing, but she's fair about giving credit there. Take notes and review.
Please read and understand your terms! Her exams are mostly about definitions and understanding them. She is a great professor. Even though this was an online class I met her several time in person with extra credit events, make sure to use all the extra credit available. Don't procrastinate on the homework either! Work on it ASAP!
She is an amazing online professor. Very interaction with students. We had an adjunct who was also very good. I like having two professors working with me. I think that's what made the difference. My second time online and I passed with an A. Videos were helpful but it was her fast responses to my questions that helped a lot too.
I had to drop all my courses because my husband lost his job and I needed to pick up extra hours at work. She is tough but fair, and extremely caring. She checks in with students on their life, offers a lot of stuff to help us improve. Genuinely cares about students and about teaching. Will take her in the fall again.
Awesome teacher! She really cares about her students. Comes off as tough at first, but she really isn't. read the chapters, do the work, and you will pass for sure. Lectures are really helpful as well. Definitely would take her again!
Do the best you can in your Aplia its worth 30% of your grade more than the tests. There's 3 tests and a comprehensive final with quizzes each class. Shes very caring and offers a lot of extra credit. I would take her again!
This class was bit hard. Her Exams are really HARD but gives tons of EXTRA CREDIT. Please do all her extra credits, it will save your semester. You have to do ALPHA assignments. She always care about her students, helps a lot with grades and extra credits. Final is lock down browser at testing service. HW 30%, EXAMS 30%, FINAL 30%, participation10%
Very fast paced class. I had 2 professors for this class which was really helpful. Read chapters and do the homework before class and studying for tests won't be so tough.
Good professor. You have two people; Dr. K and an adjunct. Her videos are lifesaver. The adjunct was also very good. Tests are tough but she gives a lot of help explaining. Just do the homework, read the notes and watch videos. Not an easy class, but very interesting. She give a lot of real life examples that help.
Dr. K is a good professor, definitely the hardest class I've taken thus far. I took online and it is really hard to keep up with the work. Be prepared to do homework and read all chapters! She does give many many extra credit!!! Take advantage of it!
The start of the semester you are required to pass three assignments with a 60% or higher if you score below she will drop you from the course. There is a lot of homework. The test are Proctored. There are three field trips you can attend for extra credit as well as some chapter test. I wouldn't take again.
There is extra credit given and you need to do it to pass. The test are hard. A lot of reading is expected in this class as well as homework. All online test are proctored except extra credit tests. Three assignments in the start of semester are must pass or she will drop you from the course. Would not take again.
This was by far the hardest class I've ever had. I read like crazy and still couldn't understand fully. With that being said Dr.K gave many, many opportunities for extra credit, so even though I failed every test, all the extra credit helped me to pass. Would not recommend taking online, the material is really, really challenging.
You need to have brains to pass the course. If you fail, it's really on you. The instructors (2) are very helpful. The material is challenging and there is a lot but it is doable. My test scores were 95, 80, 82.5. Final was easy and I got 92. I read the chapters, watched the videos and asked a lot of questions. Dr.K videos helped a lot.
I took 2301 online and 2302 hybrid. I passed 2302 but not 2301. Both courses are tought, there is a lot to learn. The profs are very good but it's too much to take two, and online is very hard. I'm taking her hybrid class in the fall. Would not recommend online if you don't understand graphs. you need to do it in person.
Her video on exam questions is very helplful. I didn't read the book, just watched the videos, did the homework and went to office hours. Tests are not hard. Only a few tricky questions. 3 tests 10% each, final 20%, Aplia 30%, quizzes 10%, math test 10%. You shouldn't fail this class with all the help she gives. Our f2f only had 1 person fail
Awesome teacher, but she does make you work for your grade. Book is mandatory and also mind-tab. Homework is very important in this class so make sure you do all homework and also beware of the exams.
there is one extra credit assignment during the semester in which you will answer to her discussion board and reply to two others for extra credit. all the assignments online are a must reading is a must note taking from Assistant professor's lecture: a must. KNOW: definitions and graph's nothing in this class is easy.
I had 2 instructors. Dr. K was straightforward. Make sure you do all the extra credit assignments. Read each chapter before class as there is a quiz at the beginning of each class. She makes you work for your grade and it's absolutely worth taking her! I learned a lot in this class.
It's not that hard. Some chapters are, but most of this is definitions and using them. I spent about 3 to 4 hours a week studying for this class. I took 2 online and 2 hybrids, work full time. She is so helpful and her explanations are clear. Awesome instructor and very kind person. Would take any of her classes
Dr. K is great but don't take 2301 & 2302 together. It is very confusing. Tests are mainly definitions. Not as many graphs as I expected. I had two different asst prof for 2301 and 2302, both were very good. 2301 was easier for me because it was 2x a week. 2302 was hybrid. I would take Dr.K again if she teaches other classes.
This class is not meant to be hard, but if you suck at time management- DO NOT TAKE HER. Looking back, this class could have been an easy A, but I did not manage my time. Beware- there is a lot of homework on Aplia. The only reason I passed was because she gives so many extra credit opportunities!
You learn a lot in her classes. If you take the team class, you get a different teacher but you have access to her still. It is better to take the class where she is the only teacher. the other class she is the manager of the teacher but not the teacher. dr.K explains things better than the adjunct.
I like the class where she and another prof teaches BUT she doesn't accept EXCUSES. Don't even try it. If you do your work and follow instructions, this class is easy. HW is super important. She has a lot of practice questions you can use. Tests are like the practice. Good instructors.
She's a great online professor, and the supporting professor Renee Edwards is pretty awesome too! They both are very helpful and straightforward! They give you all the resources and materials you need. Homework on Aplia, online sessions to answer your questions, practice exams, etc. Overall, great class!
I took 11792. Best online class I have had. Dr.K is very responsive to emails, Renee does the online tutoring. Very helpful. I started with C and ended with a B. Highly recommend. DO ALL THE HW and the practice tests. It helped me do better on tests. My test average was 68 and my final was 84.
Dr. Karkoviata is an excellent instructor! She really knows what she's teaching and uses real world examples so you understand the problems you're dealing with. Her 4 days a week class is fast paced, but she always makes an effort to make everyone else understands the material. Her lectures are funny, she's outgoing and amazing. I will miss her.
If you take the two prof class, your class is as good as the adjunct. Dr.K is the supervisor for the class. It is impossible to fail any of her classes. I have taken three classes with her, two direct and one team taught. She makes stuff available for study, lots of practice questions, and good videos. You need to study but it's not difficult.
Check if yur class is TeamTaught. That means you get two profs. Dr.K doesn't teach the class but the adjuncts are good. dr.K helps with questions and checks in on us. But i prefer the one where she teaches. You get a lot of help with practice tests and study guides. Can't fail this class. Easy B for sure with a little work.
If you can get into HER class, DO IT! She's a great professor and her lectures are interesting. The adjunct classes are also good but it's not the same. I think she only teaches upper level eco now so all 2301 and 2302 are team taught. Tests are like practice quizzes and she has study guides on blackboard. I enjoyed my classes.
I would not recommend taking her unless you just want to be challenged beyond the norm for a sophomore level course. Video lectures do not cover what will be on tests. In fact, they are pointless since she is basically recapping the chapter. Her tests are tricky, done to one word making the different between being right and wrong.
Easy B, can make an A with effort. Videos are very clear. She has videos that walk you through things like PPF. Practice quizzes VERY similar to the test questions! I made straight 90s on all three tests. Concepts are challenging. Would not recommend if you suck at time management or only know how to memorize.
Material is a bit hard, but she gives a lot of help with practice questions that are almost like the tests. Lots of videos on different things. Those videos saved my life. I listened to them over and over. I don't like the homework some questions there were not on the test. Would take any class with Dr. K but thank god, I passed both ecos.
I took Econ 2301 and Econ 2302 and it was a "team taught" class... Econ is not so much of a hard subject, but it confusing. Due to the drop rate of the class they make the first 6 weeks really hard, and when I say hard I mean it as there is a lot of work, you have to do homework and quizzes.
Dr. K and Ms Edwards go above and beyond. They responded to my questions very fast, gave me online tutoring, supported and encouraged a lot. My tests were low but I made 80 on my final! Great instructors. Dr. K is awesome. Just don't whine like a baby, ask for help, and keep trying. This class was not easy but it is the best online class ever
I took ECO2301 Online Summer I 2017. Be careful taking this course in the Summer Sessions. The concepts are logical but you must view all of the videos and complete the required homework and recommended reviews in order to do well in the course. Dr. K is an excellent instructor. I will be taking her again for ECO 2302.
She's awesome and really helpful ! Just do the homework, pay attention and you will get an easy A
do the damn practice questions. I didn't for Test 1 and failed. I did it for Test 2 and got 80. She's an awesome teacher for summer. Wish she taught year round. It's hilarious when she swears in 6 languages
I dropped all my classes after Harvey. Wasn't the fault of school Just want to say that Dr.K called me after Harvey to check on me, and in the week after. I've never had a professor do that before. I will definately be taking her class next semester.
One of the most amazing professors I ever had.
Great Prof. make good chapter outlines before class and really spend the time to get ahead at the start. P.S. if you get 90 avg. on Exams your exempt from the final
Class seems like it's very hard at first but it's not that bad, you will have to work for your grade. You definitely have to understand the concepts of the graphs to do well in her class. Reading the textbook definetly helps. The tests were tricky but the final was fairly easy.
Teachers aid Greg Roof was amazing and a great help, but it seems that Prof. Karkoviata loves to relish in the failure of her students and reaffirm the difficulty of the class with more of her time as oppose to reach out to needy students. I believe she prides herself on making econ one of the most difficult classes at UHD,
Awesome instructor. She makes a lot of effort to contact students who are struggling and give them extra help. Practice tests are like the real exams. This is not a hard class.. But you need to do the works be organized, take notes, pay attention is lectures. I had Bennet for my teacher and Dr K as the lead.
The class seems hard because we cover so many chapter but you read her chapter list and she really outlines what is taught and what is not on test. Also the practice quizzes on blackboard saved my grade. She always found time to meet when I had questions. Acc was harder to pas. The final was super easy in Eco.
Took Dr. K for Econ 2301 online and Econ 2302. Dr. K explains really good this topics. If you are a person who is a fast learner than good for you and if don't, than read carefully and ask for help to tutor & instructor. Aplia would be your hw but doesn't really help, not a lot of percentage towards gradebook and for test. However, video do help.
Had Thai for my teacher. He thinks he is on our side but he complains so much about th course. Its like he didnt want to teach it. We hat to ask Dr k to help us. Shes really great at explaining things. I wish she could teach us directly. She doesnt teach any of the classes but is like a manager. Shes tough and fair
I completed ECO 2302 Online Fall 2017. This was a Team Taught Course. Lot's of reading, math and graphs. Dr. K is excellent and provides plenty of communication and direction. Do the work and the Practice Tests and you will have a chance at an A.
not a fan of economics but Dr.K's course is good. Everything is laid out, easy to find and she's super helpful. Renee, the teaching aid is awesome. I would defo take any class with Dr.K. Tips - take notes from textbook before you go to class, check notes after class, do the practice tests - no credit but OMG it will get you an A.
She doesn't teach the course. She oversees the people who teach. She's very responsive to emails but you have to go through your teacher first. Her videos are very good and if you do the practice questions, you'll do good on the tests. Mindtap isn't helpful. The class is as good as the teacher you get assigned. But she's super helpful.
We had Dr.K in our honors economics class two years ago and she was awesome. I'm sorry to hear that she doesn't teach this class anymore. We got so much out of the class and turned in research that led to conference presentations. She is a wonderful professor. She is encouraging with students who try their best but firm with her policies.
Dr.K is great. The homework and practice questions are a very good hint of test questions. Just don't expect word for word copy. She combines two homework questions into one test question or she ask about shifts in different directions. Her tests are very fair and easy to read. We had Dr,Bennet for our class instructor and she is awesome.
It's better to take 2301 and then 2302. Her course is very organized and she's strict with policies. Don't bother with trying to bs her. Her tests are hard but the final is easy. So if you study the practice questions and do the work, then it is ok. I was in the 8 week class and no one failed or got a D. But it was really intense. Glad it over
The class is hard but she is very helpful. She is also very kind but direct. Don't go crazy and have an emotional meltdown on her. My friend did that and it was embarasing. Just do the work. If your test average is 60 but you did everything good then you get a C. her and the other teacher do a lot to help students bu you have to do some work
2st test is 3 weeks after start. Not for the faint hearted. Tough class. Homework helped prepare me for tests. They are strict on policy and will kick you out of class if you don't do the required assignments. My friend got dropped and couldn't get back in. Her tests are fair. At 1st I thought they were tricky but I got the hang of them.
Teaching aid Greg Roof didn't enter a grade for me, and then I missed the only other day there was a big graded activity. I did great on the final, but ended up with just a C. But Dr.K checked and saw that I missed the one assignment, and she put more weight on my final. She's really fair and cares about students.
She's the only prof at UHD who has ever called me to check on how I was doing. She's kind and understanding. Her course is tough and some test questions are confusing. I only talked to her when I had problems with the teaching aide and she always helped.
Dr K wasnt my teacher but she helped me a lot. I missed on test for traffic. She put that point in my final. Instead of failing, I made a C and I had 67.7. My experience is that she is fair but strict. If you do your work she will help. Try take this class with Islam. Then you now what to complain. Dr K rocks
She doesn't teach the class but oversees the teachers. I had no problems so I didn't have much contact with her. She is friendly and always encouraging with emails about my progress. Course is hard but she provides good resources. I liked how she managed the course and have no complaints. Not an easy A but can't imagine anyone failing with her.
I dunno where all the Xtra crd mentioned by other reviewers are. We had zero. I also dunno why anyone would complains about her when she isn't even the teacher. I had Roof and he was laid back. Sometimes he forgot to put grades in but Dr.K, his boss always checked so we were ok. It's not a hard class, just have to read like crazy.
all Eco classes are under her supervision. The only difference is who your class teacher is. I didnt like the lead professor model in accounting but it worked really well in eco. You dont have much contact with dr k unless there is a problem. If you have yet ave of 80, you dont hav to do the final. I liked the class but it isnt easy.
Eco was harder than I thought. Her videos help but cover a lot of stuff. She knows a lot of industries and has good examples. Tests were like homework questions and practice questions. Only a few tricky questions. You have to work with the class teacher before you can email Dr.K with questions. That's the only part I don't like.
Amazing professor. Would definitely take her again
