he's a good instructor, but gets off topic alot. he gets behind alot so test dates get pushed further back. its almost the end of the semester and we still have 3 tests to take. not very accurate with information on his notes, if you were to compair them with a book. does offer lots of 1 on 1 time. kind of a perve in his own way too. always picked
He is one of the best teachers that I have ever had. His class is hard and you have to study if you want a good grade. There is a quiz after ever lab. He drops quite a few grades. He offers himself to you if you need extra help. A great teacher......
He may not be the easiest teacher, but he is a great teacher. He helps u when u need it but dont expect him to just give u the answers. He does actually care about his students and will do his best to help u succeed in his class PS..FOR ANY JACK*%! WHO FEELS OTHERWISE(U KNOW WHO U R)SHOULD FIND A GIRL,BUT THE PERVE U R WILL MAKE IT HARD 4 U 2 DO THAT
OMG he is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He is amazing! Such a good teacher, knows his stuff, and very interesting! I looked forward going to his class. There is a quiz almost every class, which is actually helpful. Test are kinda hard, but go to his office and he is more then willing to spend all the time you need to understand it!
I have to say, coleman was one of my best professors. its not an easy A. He wants u to understand the material, not MEMORIZE!!! hes very conceptional. U must understand his not for the test, u can memorize them all u want it wont do ****. Hes very helpful. Im glad i took him
Wonderful teacher who really know his craft. He really care about his students. I look forward to his class. A very fun person who is opinionated. He want you to know the material from a conceptual basis. The emphasis is on understanding the interaction of different systems. I highly recommend him and Peter Smith. Both show depth in their subject.
Good teacher, helpful.
Eventhough I got B, sometimes he confuse you and is not clear. If you do not know the topic, he makes you feel like dumm***. There are 5 hard tests, homeworks, 2 lab tests, and a lot of quizes. He does not tell you what's goin to be in your test and quizes. You have to study to get an A. Have fun!!!
He is not good enough teaching this class. Look for others options!!!
he is a nice guy, but overall he expects you to devote your entire life to his class, which is obsurd. overwhelms you with useless information. doesn't clarify on what to study for exams. frankly, i found the class to be a ridiculous joke, especially for nursing majors. take someone easier.
He is a great teacher that expects only the best from his students. He gives you his lecture notes, he gives you a review for every test and the lab practical and he has office hours available if you need help. It is a lot of work but if you study for at least 2-3 hrs a day from his lecture notes you will do fine.
Awesome teacher. He will go out of his way to help if you have any questions or concerns. He tends to get behind in the schedule from time to time though. Overall I reccommend him though.
His class can get a little stressful at times, but he is very willing to help you when you when you need it. As long as you keep up on things, you should be fine. Gives reviews for tests! Keep in mind not an easy A but you will learn, it's possible to get a good grade though I got a 90%
Run like hell before you take this guy. I took him for a non-major BIO class and he is the worst. He expects you to be a BIO major for a little 3 credit course. HE test sucks - and are over nothing you cover in classs & he tests you over 6+ chapers. If you make any grammer errors he takes off major points. ANYONE IS BETTER THAN HIM
He is a very good teacher. He gives so many chances to earn points (quizes, lab reports and extra credit) His test tend to be tricky but he does give review sheets before each test. He is one of the best science teachers i've ever had.
His class is extremely difficult. It is hard to figure out what he is asking for on his test questions. The study guides are not what is on the tests, just a general idea on what you should study. There is a lot of work in this class and some tests are within days of each other. Very nice prof who is helpful.
Good teacher explains everything gives chances for extra credit wants you to get an A I'd take him again
Dr. Coleman is great. His class is not an easy A, you would have to work for your grade. Quizzes are done once a week, easy and helps to pull your grade up. He does not want students to memorize the lecture word for word instead to make students understand the concept. He knows what he is doing. Take him if you actually want to learn something!
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER AND I WOULD RECCOMEND HIM TO ANYONE THAT IS WILLING TO STUDY. I RECIEVED AN A!!
Prof Coleman enjoys asking his students tons of questions instead of teaching it himself& if you don't know the answer he embarrasses you in front of the class. He likes to confuse the hell out of his students. He deliberately picks out people that aren't as knowledgeable just so he can pick on them. If you want a good A & P teacher take Faloner.
He's was very hard for me I was failing and had to drop out. Hard to understand, he teaches sooo fast and you wouldn't even dare to ask him anything because he just looks at you like your stupid, role his wyws and/or even makes fun of you.
The best educator I have ever taken.I took this class to confirm my passion for the Human Body. The knowledge and concepts that I learned will help me in my career of medicine.Recommended if you are a serious student willing to EARN your grade.Always available for tutoring and guidance. This is a teacher that I will enjoy keeping a relatioship with.
AWFUL! if you want to pass this class DO NOT take him. he will call you out and make you feel stupid. his tests are hard and the material is not all taught beforehand.
This guy is awesome. I had him when he used to teach at FHCHS. Believe me you will be happy you had him when you reach high level courses because you actually end up learning the material. Also his "concept" approach works well for learning. Just mind you this is A&P not English 101 so understand your going to have to study. He will work with you.
he is a awsome teacher!!! I personally learn better by the book. He uses powerpoint for all of his lectures. He is very hard if you don't study. His lab practicals take weeks for preperation. If you need help he is always there to help. But if you don't put in the time to be in class he wont take the time to help you. He thrives on concepts!!!
This is MY opinion. I am studying to beocme a nurse, so I think I need to learn a lot and well. This is the teacher for that. If you dont care about your learning, dont take him. He has a teaching "concept", so you better follow it. He can be rude sometimes, but never disrecpectful. Need to read the nook and think "outside the box"
Would reccomend taking his class by itself. Lots of studying, tests are difficult. I never asked Prof. Colemen questions because if you do, he will not answer you. Just ask you more questions and confuse you more. Overall a nice guy, does try to help. His methods are not for me though.
Dr. Coleman is an excellent professor, but be prepared to study and be challenged. His teaching method is great for learning. He goes the extra mile to help if you take the time to learn. He also gives enough extra credit and quizes to raise your grade an entire letter grade if you do the work.
Awesome Professor! Class is difficult but it is because the material is difficult. He is always willing to help students after class to understand material. Such a great professor I am traveling to West campus just to take him for A&PII! Definately recomend him to anyone that is pursing a career in the medical field!
A difficult class, but Dr. Coleman gives a lot of extra credit, online tests (easy) and lab work to make getting an A possible even if you dont test well. Very informative prof and you will learn about how it all works together- it makes it easier to remember. Take him.
Dr. Coleman was a great professor. He was difficult and goes much more in depth than you will probably need in your career but his goal is for you to see the whole picture and how it all goes together. A lot of extra credit and if you need help he is always there. He seemed difficult at first but I am glad that I took him, you learn a lot!
Dr. Coleman is a great teacher. He lectures from powerpoints that he makes available to you. He won't spoonfeed you an answer, but he'll make you work through it until you understand everything inside and out. He's very friendly, willing to stay late to help people, and his tests are tough but fair.
I love Dr. C. His class is difficult and he doesn't spoonfeed you, but you'll learn in this class. He's willing to stay late and often holds extra office hours near tests. Go to office hours! Doesn't offer as much EC as in AP1, and tests are still tough but I still highly recommend. He cares as long as you care.
The material is cumbersome but he is clear and will go over stuff until you understand it. He will not spoon feed you but help you work through the question until you arrive at the answer. He is very fair and will curve exams if he thinks he poorly worded a question and too many people got it wrong. He has plenty of office hours and coffee on hand.
Dr. Coleman is a great teacher, wants to make sure you learn. Uses slides to teach, you can buy a book it's optional. I didn't buy a book and got an A. He's very helpful test are a little hard, but if you study you'll be fine. Also gives a lot of extra credit, especially when a lot people leave class early! Will take him for A&P II!
BEWARE..IF YOU HAVE INTENTIONS TO BE A NURSE THEN YOU NEED TO STAY CLEAR..HE WILL NOT HELP YOU AND IS SO HARD TO TAKE NOTE ..HE KNOWS IT AND THINKS ITS FUNNY IF YOU ARE HAVING A HARD TIME.DROPPED CLASS MID SEMESTER LOST MONEY BUT IT WAS THAT BAD... TALK FALCONER SHE WILL TEACH YOU WHAT U NEED FOR YOUR NURSING CAREER..
Awesome Prof! I took him for AP I and II got an A both times, but you definately have to work for your grade. Excellant Prof if you are going into the medical field it's not an easy field but you need to know this stuff and you will learn a lot in his class! Best Prof ever!!!
Very Hard Professor, gives you extra credits but gives you lots of homework, lab work, very vague reviews for exams, talks too fast, makes you answer your own questions.
GREAT GUY!
Dr. Coleman is a good prof. & it is not impossible to get an A -- you just have to study. He teaches off of his powerpoints & reading the book is not required, but it is highly recommended because everything will make more sense. His tests are difficult but as before, it is not impossible to get an A on them. Also gives lots of extra credit.
Very hard class, he is a great teacher and it shows how much he loves to teach and he really WANTS you to learn.
I love Mr. Coleman took him for spring semester and I just want to say how much I learned. I worked so hard for my grade. There is a lot of work, but if you do it, read, work together with other students this will help a lot. It paid off I got an A.
Coleman is the pits! His tests are ridiculously hard & no matter how much you study, it is difficult to pass. Our last test- the average was a 50%. This is one of those teachers who acts like no one should work or have a life outside of class & should be studying every single day. That is a little unrealistic if you ask me. RUN FOR THE HILLS!
Very hard to pass! Test reviews not much help either and lab practicals are ridiculous. Lots of work so do not take if you have a life or taking another class!
People need to realize that a good education isn't without sacrifice. If you don't have a life because of school, so what? Study and read some more. Dr. C. may be a bit condescending but he knows his stuff.
GREAT!!! Post comments (ignore!) He is a great proff. and if you pay attention and ask questions in class you will be FINE! :)
Its been awhile since ive taken AP2 what i would advise 4those who took him 4 AP1 then keep taking him for AP2 b/c he always refers to what he taught in AP1. Yes its good to ask questions but for those ppl that hasnt been to an AP1 course in while its complicated. please take another teacher I am stuck with him. Make sure ur AP2 is able2go back2AP2
One of the most challenging courses I have taken, but also the most rewarding. His test and lab practicals are hard but with all the labs, quizzes, plus paper and extra credit for participation, etc. you WILL get an A if you really try. Yes you have to do work in his class but that's college. Wish there were more teachers like him.
I read everyones comment and decided to take him, i've never dropped or failed a class ever and this is my second year at valencia. This guy is horrible, he talks to you like your already a graduate student. He doesn't explain anything and he makes up his own names for bones. The book says one thing and the test answers say differently.
DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. His drop out rate is out of this world. He told us that the average test score on the first test would be about a 40% and he was right the whole class failed. He teaches with the book but never study from it because the book says one thing but when you go to take the test the right answer from the book is NOWHERE on there.
Extremely good!!! He schedules 6 exams for the semester (one is a take-home exam) and you can drop one of the six. He does small online quizzes every week, extra credits for class participation and a research. He is the most organized and dedicated teacher I've had! Way to go Seminole State and Valencia having a true college teacher like him!!
Took Dr. C for A&P I and really learned something!! Took a diff teach for A&PII and I miss the multiple quizzes n opportunities to gain extra credit, plus the option to drop an exam. The one Im having now is always late with grades, no statistics & all is about memory -Not like Dr. C -He is VERY CHALLENGING don't take me wrong, but he'is GREAT!!
He has a very hard personality to deal with. He likes to embarrass students when talking to them. He has no tact. He is insulting and rude. If he asks a question in class and you answer incorrectly he says in very rudely, "Um, EXCUSE me?!" He does not foster a friendly learning environment. If you can, consider another teacher. You are forewarned.
He is very difficult but he is one of the BEST professors I have had. He expects students to learn the material and UNDERSTAND the concepts, so his tests are hard! Do yourself a favor, if you want to LEARN and be prepared for your program, take Dr. C., and STUDY (it is college, so stop trying to get by without it!)
Professor Coleman is a great teacher. His tests are difficult, but with all the other assignments he gives, it's not that hard to pass the class. The lab practicals are also easy so it helps to average out the grade. My average on tests were D's and I ended up with a B in the class. I learned a lot from him & would highly reccommend his class.
This was by far one of the best classes I've taken here at Valencia. Dr. C engages the class and actually makes the material interesting. He asks LOTS of questions during lecture so everything ties together. Test are fair if you actually do the studying. Advice for the lab practicals: you MUST spend time with the lab models and you'll ace it.
Dr. Coleman's class is hard. However, it was an entirely doable challenge and I learned SO much from taking him. The exams are hard and you MUST study, but he provides ample extra credit opportunities and the tests are very fair. He won't ask a bunch of questions he never covered. I am taking him again for A&P2 in the fall.
Coleman was a good teacher overall.. Thank god for all the lab homework he assigns and extra credit, b/c they brought my grade up ALOT.. mainly got D's on the tests.. but ended up with a B. Do all extra credit and hmwrk! His tests are impossible for any student that has a job or life... only take this course if you'll take it seriously.
Great professor! Really wants you to understand the material. Always willing to answer questions. There is alot to learn, so you must study hard. I listened to audio recordings I made and read the textbook. Lecture material is in powerpoint. If you make the time to know the material, you will do well. If you don't want to study, then go elsewhere!
Took A&P at UCF, this is a BREEZE compared to it (Got C's in those so retaking). A little quirky, over all a good guy w/ odd sense of humor. Only complaint is he never remembers who you are... ever... and get's crazy about stapling.
Not a good professor, the only reason I got a B in anatomy is that I study my brains out and did not do well in my other classes. He will not answer your questions.
This is a hard professor. I think he has lost his teaching ability. His exams are extremely difficult, its like giving an exam to a doctor. He gives too much homework and his study guide is worthless. Don't ever take him.
I took him for both classes & he is not the easiest professor (and that's a good thing.) The trick to his class is recording all the lectures & going back to take extensive notes after class. Use the time in class to pay attention & understand what he is teaching. I got A's in both classes. Do all the hmwk and extra credit! You also have to study!!
Dr. Coleman is a great professor. I've taken 7 classes on West Campus and he is the easiest professor to understand. He doesn't just stand in front and lecture. He will ask you questions and make you think. Even if your right he'll ask "Are you sure?" It's a great learning experience. I had him for A&P 1 and I'm taking him for A&P 2 this semester.
RUN!!! this is the worst prof you cant even take. i got an A in his class because i thought myself. his test are extremely hard and he will never answer your questions if you have any. he embrasses you infront of the whole class when you do ask a question and can't believ that you dnt know. he gives a lot of homework and his reviews are worthless.
If you want to learn this stuff, you need this man! He will work you, he will repeat a process until he's quite sure we have understood, he will remind you of it again later then build on it, he gives opportunities for extra credit, he wants you to succeed. And I did but it took many hours focused on the material, leaving little time for a life.
If you had a different prof in AP1, your chances of success in Coleman's is iffy. Those students struggled, having not had the foundation on which he will build. He wants his students to succeed and works them beyond a comfort zone. In A & P II, however, he gives fewer opportunies for extra credit. Don't count on that saving your grade this time!
Took him for both A&P 1 and 2. The class is hard, if your not willing to work you wont get a good grade. If you want to learn take him. He makes you learn and knows his stuff. If you want an A its def possible but you have to give up your social life for it. I enjoyed the classes greatly. If you didnt take hime for A&P1 you will struggle in A&P2
Took A&P I & II. Got A's on both, but I worked for it!! No hidden agendas with this teacher, everything is clear from the beginning, gives extra credit, explains and explains again if you need it, but you need to have an interest and do your part. I wish I had more teachers like him that really want students to learn, he is the BEST
Dr. Coleman is one of the professors who truly cares about his students. You will have to study hard to make a good grade. He goes over everything that is on the test and ask you many times to make sure you the information needed. Don't take him if your lazy. This class is for health care professionals that want to learn correctly.
Very thorough professor, expects you to know A LOT. I didn't have him for A&P I and find his class very difficult as I don't have the same foundations that other students that took him do. Expects you to spend lots of outside time studying. Not an easy class.
I learned! This is an educator that cares. take him if you want to do good in a health care program. Lots of options to get extra grades, clear rules upfront but YOU NEED TO DO YOUR PART and you will get your A and will learn!
This teacher is really good at what he does. He explains the systems very clearly. Do not get me wrong it is not an easy A. If you put forth an effort, there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. Learned three times as much in his class than I did in AP1.
By far the best professor I have ever had. I did not open the text book once. He teaches off his slides and will explain concepts many times. A&P is a weeding out course, it is meant to be difficult but Dr. Coleman makes it seem so easy. I am almost done with my B.S. and he is the best professor I have ever taken.
He is a doctor. So he loves to hear himself talk. He doesn't teach, he likes to show off what he knows. He sets you up for failure. His lecture and test do not match. He acts as if he is teaching medical " doctors". So he goes way overboard. Very sarcastic. Treats you like a child. Avoid taking. He makes it more difficult than it is.
Dr. Coleman is a terrible instructor who purposely wants to see you fail. Speaks too fast during lectures so you MUST record. On test it's as if he picks concepts that he knows we did not study and he did not go over. His study guides are useless. He is extremely rude, belittling and arrogant. Feels everyone around him is wrong.. even the book.
Dr. Coleman makes learning this subject increasingly difficult. If you are a visual learner do not take this course. He doesn't cover all of the material on his slides. I timed him once, and he went through 60 slides in 30 minutes. His test questions are almost all trick questions. If you sign up for him, you're signing up to teach yourself.
personality grew on me but teaching style digs thru your Bio knowledge & picks apart what you know. We didn't feel comfy answering q's or asking about confusing topics. Expert in subj. but because he's a Dr his tests are really hard and meant to make you think as one: All of the following are true except. Study Guides confusing and unorganized.
Horrible communicator. Does not teach, only likes to hear himself speak. Does not explain any concepts, so you have to try to piece things together yourself. Very rude attitude. Not helpful. No office hours. Condescending and inconsiderate. Visual learners beware. Study guides are useless. Find a better professor!
Learned so much! He makes you work for it, so the lazy students don't like him, but he's a great professor!
So I took this class seeing pretty good reviews for this professor but it has quite frankly been a nightmare. Spends most of class time making us guess the answer to people's questions instead of explaining concepts. He has pre-recorded lectures that are pretty lackluster and hard to sit through so I spent most of my time reading the book instead.
Personally I've had a good experience with him, I study, TAKE NOTES, contact him when I need help, so he's great. Other students did complain about but I think those were just because of miscommunication and him being sketic about students cheating I guess. He had LONG lectures for each chapters, so GET READY, be ready to learn and you'll be fine.
I chose this professor because of his good reviews, but I had to leave the course because of his attitude. As a science major almost done with my degree, I know the effort that goes into studying Anatomy. But he made it impossible and gave so much busy work. made mistakes with grading and blamed you. Please choose someone else!!!!!
Great professor. His teaching methods are great and he makes you work for your grade! He makes sure you learn and understand.
