Great personality, but expects too much from Intro. classes.
very nice, all tests come from lectures, not reading
Great Teacher. Always willing to help. Smart. Attend class
All memorization, all questions from class notes, don't buy book. Got "A" w/o
Horrible. she is way to interested in pigs. Would not reccomend.
loved her, very easy, enthusiasm is remarkable. must love animals though
Tends to have favourites. Not helpful to anyone else.
Remarkable woman, get to know her she is very intelligent. Class is easy A
Great person, very knowledgable, course requires work to get an A
great teacher!go to class, exams from her notes, no need to buy book,
good teacher, knows what she is talking about, study only from notes-don't need
Easy A, really nice and helpful. Very organized. Same lectures on web.
class was interesting. i got a lot of the class, although it aint easy!
very knowledgeable; easy A if you take good notes!
Great teacher, great class.
Caution Do Not Approach with question
shes' really nice if you ask straightforward questions
you can argue points on a test--very good thing
Good professor, tough class!
Very nice, easy if you try. Test is all on lectures! Go to them and youre good!!

horrible prof. to try and approach. tests straight from lecture, dont need book
Great lady, Tests are right for lecture, easy stuff if you've had pets
Straightfoward witih all material, and tests what she teaches. Is more interesting if you take a more hands-on or participatory course. Seems strict, but go to her office and she'll help you with ANYTHING - coure related or not.
Very nice lady. Very clear in class. Tests are from lectures. Take notes, go to class, and you'll do fine.
Outstanding prof. She's incredibly nice, clear, and willing to help. Her exams come directly from her lectures, and with adequate studying they aren't that bad.
Awesome teacher, tests are on lectures, go to class, you'll do great. Class is especially interesting if you like animals, awesome way to earn credit in the sciences b/c the lab is outstanding and so much fun!!!
Very cool professor. Exams consist of questions from lectures. You don't have to by the text as long as you show up to lectures. Videos are also available if you miss a day. Doesn't respond quickly to e-mails though.
DON'T BUY THE TEXT!!! Study completely off the lecture notes she gives you. Make sure you know the details and fine print.
nice lady but tests have little things mentioned in lectures. kinda hard tests....
She is so nice and knows the material she is teaching inside out. Don't need to buy the book, just go to class and take good notes. Doesnt require too much studying if you pay attention.
harddddddddddddddddddddddd as helllllllllllllllll.. DO NOT take this course online.. IMPOSSIBLE to stay awake through lectures. you can even ask my roomate tony - IM him "tcipriano3" for any questions about the course
She is a decent teacher, you dont need the text. But she is a complete idiot, she would give examples where somehow a sheep could have 125% Genetic combo... 1/2 this 1/2 that and 1/4 this! Worth going to class just to laugh
Horrible, difficult, and boring. The online lectures are torture unless you are interested in the intestines of cows and pigs. She does not clearly tell you what is going to be on the exams. Not an easy group D. I would recommend avoiding it. Take geological hazards.
Pretty easy class. She posts all notes and video lectures online- makes things easy at exam review time. Exam questions are sometimes ludicrously specific. She has limited knowlege about some things, so if you know a lot about animals (horses, for example), this class will probably ****you off.

she's a nonhelpful *****. caters only to students she can mold and influence.
Very cool teacher. Knew what she was talking about and knew how to teach it. I totally recommend her to anyone and everyone! It was a 9:05am class, but it was still awesome!
all the lectures and notes were posted online. exams are all multiple choice and if you study you should do fine.
run of the mill... nothing special, but nice
She's really nice but her tests are tricky! I would study for hours, for weeks!.. and I never got an A. She uses power points and posts them online as well as video lectures but still, don't miss class!
do not take her online companion animal class..seems easy but its a waste of time and effort..theres only a midterm and final and theyre both rediculous..she expects u to know every single detail..seems like a good class but it sucks
If you bought the text book, i recommend you return it now, not once did the text book intertwine with what was taught in class, and especially not with what Lesa expected you to know on the exams. Exams questions are tricky and seem to be selected at random. She isnt helpful, good luck finding her during her office hours,
All notes are posted online as well as lectures. The tests aren't really that hard; I never studied and got A's and high B's, it's just that you either get the concepts or you don't. She's really good at explaining things clearly and simplification, and all of the notes are pretty straightforward.
its a required course for ANSC majors so you don't have a choice but she's a bad teacher. there are random mistakes in her slides and she doesn't know much about equine but luckily all the material is easy. all her lectures are online and she only takes attendance about twice in the semester so good luck put in the effort u'll get at least a B
overall an easy class. boring lectures and the lectures seem a little bias from her personal stories. only take it if its required for major
If you are interested in the subject then you will find this class fairly interesting (some parts are boring, but not really her fault). VERY nit-picky and questions are small little specific details from notes. Take good notes! Don't buy text! She loves and knows everything about pigs, not much about horses, but hey she tries. Video lectures help!
Class is pretty easy, especially if you are actually interested in it. Covers wide variety of material, she's obviously knowledgeable. Take good notes, save the money and skip the text. All her questions come almost directly from the notes. Pretty nice in person. Video lectures and online notes make it easy to miss class.
This class is fairly easy as long as you study. 4 exams, including the final which is comprehensive. She gives an extra credit assignment and will randomly take attendence, but only like 5 times out of the whole semester. Don't really need the book but one of the exams had questions that were directly from the book, so it's up to you if you want it
Even though I went to her office hours to look over my test and write corrections which took me forever, i never even got one point back, waste of time. Plus she doesn't even take the sakai homework into account, not fair at all.
worst teacher ever. her powerpoints are clear but she goes on and on about pigs. she doesn't take into account your attendence or hw which is mandatory. exam corrections are pointless, and she is not helpful at all during office hours.
Shes a nice person but sometimes takes really hard questions for the tests. Some tests were very easy while others seemed impossible. She sometimes makes questions that seem unimportant so study everything.
Easy class. Great for freshmen. SIGN UP FOR THE LAB ASAP! I did not get into it until my SENIOR YEAR. I never opened the textbook. Her slides were very helpful, but she LOVES to get sidetracked talking about pigs. I missed the last week of class (due to illness) & she was very lenient allowing me to make up the final & end of the year assignment.
The material isn't too challenging and there are no homeworks. The lectures are also posted on sakai. I study like crazy and still haven't gotten higher than an 85. The way the test questions are phrased just really screws you over. Study 2 weeks in advance if you can.
This class is super easy. There are only 4 exams for the year and no homework. You can make corrections on exams too if you go to office hours. If you're real close to the next letter grade, talk to her and she'll bump you up. Definitely my favorite class.
The material is really easy and well presented by Dr. Griffiths. She's nice, kind of funny in lecture sometimes, shows cool cow commercials and clips of animals. NEVER used the textbook. I was nervous reading all these comments saying they never used the textbook so I got the textbook anyway. Was mad expensive and never used it!
She is quite a bore, but she knows her stuff well. You only have to go to class when you get the tests back, so that's a plus. And she uses course capture. Although, everyone that goes is usually Pre-Vet and wants to sit in the front. She's a very nice lady, and I'd recommend her to anyone looking for an elective.
She loves pigs! Pay attention to lectures (also found online) and you'll be fine. She randomly takes attendance and gives a couple HW assignments both just to boost your grade if you're on the fence. Exams are MC and very closely follow what's covered in lecture. She counts highest exam score twice and material is pretty straightforward. Good class
I think she did a great job for her first year teaching the class. She is SO knowledgeable about the subject and was helpful during office hours. Quiz format was very inconsistent, so be ready for anything. Class was tough and required studying, but not overly challenging. It is very possible to do well if you work for it. Learned a lot!!
As this was Griffiths first year teaching the course, she was very inconsistent. Quizzes were a lot harder then they needed to be. Pay attention to details-she loves them and her tests are usually very detailed specific (charts, graphs, tables). I personally didn't like her course-she is pretty boring to sit and listen to. Helpful outside class.
She's really specific. She may choose one or two questions per slide, but you better make sure you know everything on that slide. However, once you do the tests are really straight forward. This year was a little all over the place, but she did her best to balance it, and the final was fair. Got an A
Dr. Griffiths is new to this course but I think we suffered while she figured out how she wanted to teach. Exams and quizzes focused on very minor details. She also contradicted herself all the time.
Take advantage of the group study sessions. They're really helpful. Go to those and pay attention during lecture and you'll do fine. She's very boring, but very knowledgeable. She goes on rants a lot too. It's always about horses or pigs.
I'm usually one to go to classes and I did for the most part with this one (even though I didn't really pay attention at 9am), but she puts the lectures online and the tests are 100% based off the lectures so you don't even need to bother going. Watch the lectures online and you'll be fine. Only reason to attend is she offers some extra credit.
DO NOT buy the textbook for this class. you will not use it. the class material was very interesting.if you dont have a mac i suggest printing the PP slides in advance so you can take notes that arent on the slides. i took this as a BR, and for me the tests were hard even though I studied a lot.
You dont need to buy the textbook. Go to lectures and rewatching them online is the best thing to do. GO TO THE GROUP TUTORING!!!! they basically give you the test. Easy class is you go to group tutoring
Class is kinda boring except for when she gets all riled up about certain topics, but when she shows videos of her bird it's great. Don't buy the textbook, I never opened it. You can skip every now and then but she does take attendance when the room looks empty so watch out. Exams come from slides but sometimes something she said offhand shows up.
Dr. Griffiths teaches straight from the book and then pulls her exams from her notes. DON'T BUY THE BOOK! You don't need it. I suggest printing her slides and taking notes on the stuff that she mentions in class that isn't on them. Also, attending the review sessions is very helpful, especially if before exams. Megan is so sweet + was very helpful!
The class itself is very boring and Professor Griffiths does not do a good job of making the material more interesting. The exams are taken straight from lecture, so try to go. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. I was worried about not buying it but never even needed it. I found the exams to be difficult, but I also did not pay attention that well
The lectures were boring but the teacher was super nice and helpful. She responded to emails quickly and really wanted to make sure you understood what was being taught.
I would not recommend taking this class the tests are really hard and require a lot of studying and memorization. Very monotone and boring teacher. I always dreaded going to her class. You can tell she's been reading off the same slides for 30 years and hasn't changed them at all.
Swine Production was awesome! Lots of hands-on experience (but also lots of out-of-class time requirements-- you'll want a car) and the assignments were really easy. Lectures are interesting and as long as you pay attention you'll do fine on the exams. It's a pretty laid-back course, she wants you to learn, not be swamped with material or work.
Professor Griffiths is such an awesome teacher. I love animal science so much so I guess it helps that I'm actually interested in what I'm learning otherwise I can see the class being tough but she's so clear. Know the powerpoints and listen well in class to the things she says that arent on the slide and I legit got a 99 on my last exam... Easy
Great teacher. Knows her stuff and explains it well.
Her class is so boring. I found it so hard to concentrate because her voice is monotone and she doesn't even move. This makes an hour and quarter feel like 3 hours! There is UD Capture online, and you need to take good notes and memorize all the things in lecture slide and your notes. Some questions are very pinicky.
Professor Griffiths is a great teacher. The lectures are long and pretty boring but that can be expected from any introductory level course. You do not need the textbook as the questions on the exam are pulled right from lecture. Definitely recommend re-watching lectures on UDcapture and taking detailed notes from the slides and her own words.
Dr. Griffiths is the best teacher ever! Swine production is the best class that I have ever taken at UD. You have to take care of your pig two times a day but you have a group to share pig duties. You will have to spend a lot of time with your pig. Worth the time, you learn the most by actually doing it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
There is so much content to memorize in these lectures and regurgitate on a test. They are impossible to get through. I wouldn't recommend this course unless it's mandatory.
Sometimes her lectures were long and hard to sit through or wake up for, but as long as you go to class or at least review her powerpoints (class is suggested of course) and have common animal sense, you will do just fine in the class. You will need to study, though.
Dr. Griffiths is a very nice person and she's very into the content of her course, but her lectures are very long and if you're looking for an easy class, this is not it. Her tests will only be what was taught and said in the lectures but theres so much to remember and they are hard exams. If you want an A you will have to really work for it.
She is one of the best professors at the university. She is incredibly knowledgable and thorough about everything she teaches. She absolutely loves pigs, so expect her to talk about them a lot. She is a really nice woman in general and cares about her students. She uses UD capture but takes attendance randomly, so I recommend going to every class
easy A in my opinion, yes it is a lot of content you are learning however her lectures are clear and the tests are easy. just study, go to lecture and you'll be fine. Also, don't buy the textbook...
Lectures could get a little boring. There's a ton of information, but as long as you use the study guides she provides, it's not too bad. Griffiths is very helpful if you need it and she responds to emails very quickly. She uses UD capture and puts her powerpoints online, but she takes attendance randomly so be careful. Never opened my textbook.
Not a course to take unless you are an animal science major. All other majors proceed with extreme caution. No opportunity for extra credit work whatsoever. Grades are based exclusively on four (tough) exams. Write down every word spoken in lecture as all is fair game for inclusion in exams. Some test questions are tricky. Steer clear!
Hardest 101 course taken in four years. Prof. refuses to help. Even meetings are with the TA. Tricky test questions. Grade is an average of four HARD exams with no extra credit. Avoid, avoid.
Dr. Griffiths was alright as a professor. Her lecture's were very long and had nothing to break them up so it was hard to pay attention. A lot of test material was obscure facts vs. overall themes and it didn't make sense for the course. Tests weren't awful but I don't think they lent well to the material. Also the only grades in the course.
Do not take this course...... Do not take this course... Do NOT take this course...
Harder then your average 101 class because its science... but if you put a little effort into studying and go to lecture its an easy A. Dr Griffiths cares about her students and is easily approachable and happy to help and answer questions. Tests are mostly from the power points and there are 4 in total. Just like any other class put in the effort.
Dr. Griffiths is so sweet and helpful if you just ask her to clarify anything, this class was super easy and definitely interesting. She shows videos of her animals and clearly is very passionate about what she teaches. Anyone who commented otherwise probably just didn't show up because bascially that's all you have to do to get an A in this course
Avoid.
Doesn't use clickers and attendance is taken occasionally. Test are easy if you study and offers a study group session that I HIGHLY recommend going to. She is very passionate about what she teaches and offers help if asked. She uses UD capture and there is no homework for this class. Get textbook if this isn't your strong suit but can pass w/o it.
This class requires work to pass. The only grades are 3 exams and a final. No extra credit but your highest grade is counted twice. If you do not study, do not expect to do well. Attendance is not mandatory but she did take attendance once. All lectures and power points are online. Overall, interesting class but I am an animal science major.
This class definitely in not one of the worst but it is by far a walk-through. Her lectures are so hard to sit through. She sits in the front and is very bland, to me I don't think that she is a very good teacher. No chances for extra credit, and if you were ever going to skip a class this would be the one cuz there is no point in goin. Lect online
If this class wasn't mandatory for Pre-Vet students, then I would recommend not taking it. Lectures were extremely bland and tough to sit through. In fact, there's really no point in going since all the lectures are recorded and posted online. The exams were not difficult, however, they do require that you memorize ALOT of information.
I went to every class and she read off of her powerpoint but then gives examples to make you understand them, so class was easy, no participation required. She only has 4 tests, non cumulative final. She covers about 3 powerpoint per test iN CLASS but then gives you an extra powerpoint to cover on your own. A grad student also gives review session
Great professor, reads off slides but makes sure to add examples and information to add to your knowledge. Tests are not cumulative and are pretty easy since she posts a study guide on her website. The homework lecture is a drag but its easy to get through if you give yourself enough time to study it before the tests.
Grade consists of only 4 tests. Lectures are dry, but she tries to make it more interesting w real life examples. Tests aren't cumulative, and if you take good notes you shouldn't get below a B on any of them. One homework lecture per test which is extremely dry but easy enough. Book is a waste of money-- never used it once during class.
The lectures for this class were all online, which I really liked because you could watch them at your own pace. Class time was spent asking questions about the material or taking quizzes/exams. Attendance was mandatory and if you asked questions you could receive extra credit.
Literally reads directly off the powerpoints, her voice is so monotoned that you can't help but sleep. Didn't go to lecture for 5 weeks and still got an A. Your grade is only made up of the 4 exams and the material tested isn't on powerpoints/study guides! Good luck my dudes
100% asynchronous. 100% exam based. Very little opportunities for extra credit. Uses the very strict and invasive ProctorU. Dr. Griffiths is a nice lady and very smart on her topic but made a 101 entry level course that many of us were taking to fill a requirement unnecessarily hard in an online semester.
Shes nice and the class was fine.
The class is not hard if you watch the lectures, do the study guides and attend the review sessions. Gives a reasonable amount of opportunities for extra credit. My only critique of the course is that there was not enough coverage of animal rights, which was disappointing for me personally. In any case, she's nice woman and a pretty good professor.
Do yourself a favor and do not take this course online. This class would have been so much easier if it was synchronous on Zoom. There is so much information on every exam it is almost impossible to memorize all of it. There were 4 exams and one small extra credit assignment and that was it.
Professor Griffiths was one of the worst professors I had my freshman year. She was rude for no reason. Her tests are harder than they have to be. If you like classes where your grade is made up of multiple things do not take this class. She only has 4 tests and that's it for your grade. Not a good choice for a breadth course.
took this as a easy intro breadth class for my senior year and I regret it.. the tests are so detailed and u only are graded on 4 exams and a few extra credit which really did not help. I would take it in person if u have the option.
Wouldnt suggest to anyone to fulfill breadth requirement. Besides that she gave opportunities for extra credit but to get a good grade watching the lectures, which are sometimes long, is necessary. Grade is only from 4 tests but takes your highest grade and counts it twice
Honestly, she was a good professor in terms of she knew what she was talking about it and she was good at articulating and explaining it. She was also good with the exams and trying to give us all extra credit to balance out some of the issues with the class. I struggled with her, but that could be because I'm a POSC major taking an ANFS class.
Dr. Griffiths is a kind, knowledgable professor. Her tests were sometimes tricky but she listens to student feedback and tries to give back as many points as she can (she gave us an extra credit assignment to make up for a bad test grade). She does have a lot of lectures for each test, so make sure you keep up with watching them!
She is the kindest person ever. This class included a lot of information so, if you want to earn a good grade it is 100% necessary to watch lectures, take notes, and NOT CRAM. There weren't any homework's so grades relied on only 4 exams, but extra credit was offered. You will leave this class with a lot of knowledge and great study techniques.
101 level classes shouldnt have 68 as the class average on the exam. She seems nice but seems to forget that the class is for non majors. Do NOT take this for easy credit. I hated this class so much it made me hate the whole university.
In every in-class lecture, she makes sure to cover topics that students typically get confused about and answers all questions. Watching the videos is a must because some of the information in them is not found on the slides she is going over! Class will be hard if you do not prepare for exams, but even just reading over your notes really helps.
Dr. Griffiths is a very informative and clear professor. Her lectures are long, but they arent too difficult. She explains things a lot. To get an A on exams you just have to watch the lectures and take some notes. No homework. I love that she gives many extra credit opportunities that are straight forward and easy to earn. Exams are clear, easy.
I took it asynchronous and each week you have to watch a few videos summing up to about 1 hr 15-30mins. She is knowledgeable about the subjects and if you watch the lectures and get a hang of the type of things she asks in her tests youll do well. She gives lots of extra credit half way through the semester. GOATED. Mostly about farm animals.
Griffiths is great, she gives a lot of extra credit. You have to watch lectures and take notes but they're really interesting. Look over the information before exams and you'll do fine. Will definitely be taking another one of her courses in the future!
The lectures were all powerpoint videos that you had to watch and take notes on for homework and class time was used as a discussion. She clearly explained each topic in detail and gave numerous extra credit opportunities. As long as you study for her exams and take good notes it's an easy A.
I have never in 4 years at this school had a more insanely difficult class. The study guides don't even have the majority of the exam questions so they are mainly a waste of time and the material covers such a broad area that you'll have to memorize all of it.
Absolutely terrible. This is an online asynch 100 level class that has an average exam score of 68% on the first exam and a 67% on the second one. There are no curves at all on these. Im a senior and have had 400 level classes that have been easier than this class. Avoid at all costs.
Dr. Griffiths is a very knowledgeable professor which has it's pros and cons. The good is that she explains things in great detail with pictures, graphs, and diagrams no matter if the lecture is in person or online. The bad is that she expects you to get things lots of things done out of class so please learn to manage your time!!
I am upset that I decided to take this for a breadth course. As a nonmajor class, the first exam had an average of 68, which shows how hard she is making these exams. Only gives 4 exams as your grade.
I took ANFS and the class itself was fine, but the lady is very unkind. I sent her a very nice email and she shut me down saying I was better off to get points before I emailed her when she didn't want to be emailed. Very rude.
I took this class as a pre-vet major with an extensive background in the industry. being graded by just 4 tests and the occasional homework assignment will bring down your grade. has extra credit, but it wasn't even worth doing it. changed my major partially bc of this course. the final is online tho so you can cheat ig.
If you do not want to work hard do not take her classes. Lectures are outside of class review in class. If you want to learn and are passionate about animal science or nutrition she is the professor for you. She truly enjoys teaching! Take her class if you want to know what you are doing in your field.
Prof. Griffiths is a nice woman, but it is a very time consuming class for being a 100 level. The online lectures were sometimes over an hour long and the in-person lectures were only a review. The exams were super weighted and never curved.
Very comprehensive intro class for majors but would not recommend for nonmajors. The tests make up a huge portion of the grade but she offers tons of extra credit. Lectures are online and discussion sections are in person, having good notes and paying attention is super important. Don't buy the optional textbook, it is not necessary.
The class is half async and half in person. Online lectures are very long and the exams are based on them. The exams themselves are heavily weighted, but she gives lots of extra credit. If you are a nonmajor I would not recommend.
Dr. Griffiths is a very knowledgeable and experienced professor on the subjects she teaches... but that doesn't mean she's a nice person. Very rude and will shut you down and nitpick anything you do. Like other reviews have said, class is async and the online lectures are very time consuming, but I feel as if the content is do-able, you MUST study!
This class isn't super difficult, but it is VERY time-consuming. Lectures are async and upwards of 2 hours some weeks and class time is used for discussion. Non-majors steer clear because if this class was an elective I would have dropped it within the first week. She gave about 30 points of extra credit (do it!) and the final is not cumulative.
Super knowledgeable professor, just stay on top of your work and you will be fine. Weekly video lectures can be long and a little boring but she gives lots of extra credit opportunities and doubles your highest exam grade. Exams are all multiple choice. In lecture you go over the videos and she reviews the most important stuff.
Dr. Griffiths is so knowledgeable about the topics she teaches and is a really engaging professor!
ASYNC. Unfair time for test, like a minute per question, worded confusingly to trick you. Canvas grade is wrong and she knows that but does not change/clarify it and gets frustrated when communicating about it, or message her in general. Every time I messaged her she was rude. Interesting topic, not enjoyable her set up. Do not take her class(es).
i think griffiths is exactly who i want to be when im older, so she's super inspiring to me, however- i will say her lectures are quite long and can be boring. the online lectures are extremely long most weeks, and have a lot of information in them, but tests aren't too hard and i am still hoping to work with her in the future.
ASYNC lectures are required to learn the content and they are pretty lengthy. In class lecture times serve as a discussion of the lectures you learn on your own. Attendance is very mandatory, and it is difficult to get an excused absence but not impossible. However, the content is interesting, just a lot of work outside of class time.
This class was really tough for me personally, but this professor is extremely caring and she wants you to do well and she explains things in depth, it's just hard to keep up with sometimes. Get good study habits NOW because you will need them taking her class! The tests were hard too, the way things were worded was tough to trick you.
This class has a lot of content, but staying on top of it and using helpful tools like Unstuckstudy can make it manageable. The professor is knowledgeable, offers extra credit, and gives fair exams.
If you're not one of her teacher's pets good luck getting her to like you. She only says hello to and calls on the students that kiss up to her. This class is WAY too hard for a 100 level course - the tests are long, tricky, and unfairly timed and attendance is mandatory for her in-person lectures that are the same as her online ones. AVOID
She is a knowledgable professor, but she is unfair in the classroom. She doesn't give you access to quizzes you've taken, once they are closed you are never allowed to see them again, even to study from them. The once chance you can review what you got wrong on the quizzes, she doesn't tell you the correct answer, only 'figure it out yourself.'
She is very inspirational but she is also intimidating and not that nice. I didn't realize how much you need to watch the lectures, really do the homework + pay attention in class until I fell down a hole I couldn't come back from. I had to audit the class. She is very cool and clearly loves animals and teaching about them. Just DO THE WORK.
Hated it so much. Our homework was pre-recorded lectures that were hours long every single week and were very boring and complicated. We were basically graded purely off of exams which we had four, they were very hard. She chose to have our class meet at 8AM which is crazy. Also very condescending. Switching majors because I hated it so much.
This course is great for learning the basics of animal science. Complete your work and study for tests and you will pass. She provides a lot of extra credit opportunities and doubles your highest exam score. It will say in your schedule that you have lectures twice a week, but it is only once. The other day is an asynchronous video lecture.
Course is not taught by Dr. Griffiths. Every lab is at a different location on the farm. Hands on experience with horses, beef and dairy cattle, sheep, eggs, and poultry, as well as food science. Quizzes are 5 minutes for 10 questions after every lab, and final exam. Make sure to review lab handouts before taking quizzes.
she is very good at teaching however she isn't very personable and seems very unattached
doesn't actually teach any of the labs they are taught by other professors
This is one of the worst classes you could take if you are expecting to have an easy, low stress schedule. She managed to make me rethink if I even wanted to continue pursuing pre-vet as a major with how awful this class was. The only grades that matter are the 4 exams, the recorded lectures are trash & the attendance policy was ridiculous.
……….
STUDY FOR THE EXAMS!! Quizlet will be your best friend. A lot for a 100 level class but very much do able.
Overall her lecture style isn't terrible, but it can be quite boring at times. She seems to lack empathy for her students and honestly doesn't seem to care about wellbeing. For her exams she uses a question bank, so you may have 5 questions regarding the same topic. The time limits for her exams are also pretty strict.
The quizzes in this course are incredibly strict with time and the questions are sort of unexpected. She does not give study guides for this lab or the accompanying lecture, so you are on your own for studying. The labs themselves are set up pretty well.
Dr. Griffiths is incredibly knowledgeable but rude for no reason and I think she has very little respect for her students. She has a strict attendance policy which allows 2 total absences. She posts lecture videos to take notes on for homework which can be around 3 hours total. The lectures review and clarify what was presented in the homework.
I have 0 idea why folks on here are so negative towards her. The class met *once per week*. I do not think that her attendance policy was that strict. Just...show up to class. The lectures were a bit boring, but she made her expectations explicitly clear and everything on the exams was in the lectures. She's realistic. I like her.
Excellent class and is very straightforward. She genuinely cares about what she teaches and if you know how to study this class should be easy.
Lesa Griffiths is a very knowledgeable teacher. However, the modules were very long and tended to be longer than the designated period. Due to the amount of information present, the tests were challenging, so this class was very hard. Lesa is nice and friendly, but very strict with grading, extra credit, and requests for additional credit.
Lectures are online and to be done outside of class, but can be pretty time consuming if you take notes my hand. Homeworks are easy and good studying sources and the in person lecture is extremely helpful. She is kind of strict and not everyone's cup of tea but she is very knowledgeable and kind. Exams are not too bad and there isn't a final.
You learn in this class by watching online lectures. There are very few grades other than exams, so if you don't do well on the exams, you will fail the class. She puts very minuscule details on the exams, so you really have to be careful when reading and know your stuff. I wouldn't take her class again if I didn't have to.
She's strict for sure but if you're a good student who actually tries its no issue. She's very nice if you go to her office hours or actually try in her class, unlike most people.
At first, she seems very tough and hard on her students. I promise if you stick it out for a few weeks you will find she is amazing. She provides students with so many opportunities to thrive and is very knowledgeable on what she teaches. She does tend to go on tangents during lectures so be prepared to zone out a bit.
Dr. Griffith's class is pretty simple, as long as you watch the lectures and pay attention. She's very skilled in her field, and I like that her lectures are online, so you have a whole week or so. She also offers a couple of extra credit opportunities and allows you to retake your highest test grade twice. Pretty good for an intro course
Took as an elective and it was an easy A. Finished before thanksgiving break and took maybe 1-2 hrs, 3 max each week. There's 3ish lecture videos to watch each week and 1 timed closed notes quiz about the lecture.
(now dr. massarotti) Amazing professor if you are willing to learn. Many consider her to be nasty and rude, but I simply think she is weeding people out from the major, especially pre-vet, as you need to be a specific individual to be a vet. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!! that is my one word of advice. and study. this is a very easy class if you just try.
Dr. Massarotti is honestly a great professor. It's very easy to do well in the class if you just put in the effort. You learn a lot through the lecture videos and take notes while watching to do good on exams. See her during office hours to go over exams even if you did well. Go to class and she sometimes emphasizes what's on the exams!!
The class content is super interesting and the work in manageable, but you have to get 125/130 points to get an A which is pretty stressful considering she gives less than a minute per question on the quizzes. The subject matter is not that difficult, but I don't think I would recommend taking it unless you have to.
She was honestly a great professor, people like to complain about her because she's a bit harsh but if you actually watch the lectures and go to class once a week it's an easy A. If you don't want to watch the lectures you shouldn't be in the vet field. You should be excited to learn about animals!
