TAKE! She's an awesome professor! She actually made going to class fun. It helps to read the chapters before class because the activities will relate to that but the book is a real easy and interesting read. I learned so much from this class and actually enjoyed going to it even though it was at night. 2 short papers 3 tests and they're all easy.
TAKE HER!!! Considering some of the material discussed can be awkward for some people, she definitely knows how to lighten to mood. Funniest/best professor I have had at JMU. 2 easy papers and 3 tests that are not hard as long as you read and take good notes. Definitely not a boring class and one you won't want to miss even if it's at night
THE best professor I have ever had. Love her so much, she is so helpful and just makes class so fun and interesting. I had it at night and I never missed a class. She is just the bomb. TAKE HER!!!!!
Strict attendance policy but you won't want to miss a class of hers anyway! Hilarious and keeps you focused and you actually learn while having fun! One paper that is anonymous so everyone gets 100% and one other paper comparing two netflix documentaries. Tests are reasonable if you skim the book and come to class.
Professor Eicher has made HTH 230 the best class of my semester. She is so engaging during class, and she never puts anyone on the spot. There's a lot of active moving around in class and discussion, but she never forces anyone to participate, and she is very supportive of all the opinions brought to the table. Her tests are not difficult, but study.
She is the sweetest prof i have ever had. The class is fun and interesting, but be ready to read and study on your own. Tests are way harder than expected no matter how much i study.
would not recommend for hth 230. class is pretty much a review of each chapter in the book with random activities. pop quizzes.
This class was extra-curricular. She's a kind individual, capable of answering all your concerns and providing all the info needed. Very insightful and professional about course material, you will definitely learn a lot and apply it. There's not much reading, participation matters a lot, and you get what you put in.
Eicher is a really good teacher. HTH231 was one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken, and Eicher definitely helped to make it interesting. She uses different learning techniques each class to help everyone learn in the best way possible. She does has mandatory attendance, but you shouldn't be missing class anyways
Prof. Eicher is a good professor. Her tests are much harder than necessary. Her lectures are good, but if you don't like participating I would take someone else. She is really nice inside and outside of class.
On the first day of class she told us we would remember how to say her name since "Eicher" rhymes with "there's no one like her" and she was right. She is SO funny and you will learn so much from her. She's always so pleasant and accessible. TAKE HER!
Professor Eicher does a great job teaching taboo topics in this course. There are tests every few weeks and many other assignments that can boost your grade. It would be pretty hard to fail this class. If you are taking HTH100, Lesley Eicher is the best pick.
Her lectures are interesting and funny because she'll tell stories to help us understand the material. Her tests can be hard if you aren't prepared, so definitely study!! Overall I loved this class and I would take her again.
Totally would recommend.
I loved Professor Eicher! She's hilarious, and very kind. She helped me a lot outside of class also. I have a psychological disability, and she made me feel safe and like I could do what I needed to cope. Her class was also very interesting, and I learned a whole lot in her class. Just don't take your phone out in the classroom :)
I loved Prof Eicher! She was so funny and made my 8 AM very enjoyable. Lectures were great and posted online. However you are only allowed 5 absences a semester which wasn't a problem for me but was for others. She understands when you are having a difficult time and really loves to work with her students. Definitely recommend her!
Literally reads word for word from the slides and test are on the most random points you can think of. Passports have to be done the way she likes it or you get a zero. 10 points off each absence after the 5th.
I had her for an 8am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and I still enjoyed her. She is super strict about being in class on time, but she is a nice professor. Her tests are sometimes tricky because the questions can be odd, but if you read your book and study the material you will do well. I would take her again!
She makes a 150 class a lot harder than it should be. Supposed to be an Easy A, but with one test and a very common sense class she makes it as difficult as it could be.
So inspirational and explains things really well. She can seem harsh at times but that's really because she's fed up with people who don't try. If you show up to class, at least skim the textbook, and follow assignment directions, you'll be fine. Very interesting lectures; you won't want to miss this class. Take her!
Prof. Eicher will read slides to you, remind you not to have your phone out in her classroom, yell at anybody who is sleeping, and... not much else. Lectures are monotonous. If you worried about getting triggered, she goes to great lengths to avoid offending anyone, so she might be the right prof for you.
This class is boring and it's honestly just a requirement. The professor is boring and takes the Gen Ed too seriously. She doesn't allow you to use your phone, even when the class hasn't started, and expects you to arrive 20 minutes early. There are also a lot of outside activities you have to do. This class is one big meh.
Prof. Eicher is really cool. She explains things really well and is very accessible outside of class. Her lectures are directly off the slides, which are all online. You get 5 absences but if you show up and **read the chapter**, you're sure to get an A. Super sweet lady but also doesn't tolerate when people are late or disruptive.
She was fine, but she was very into topics related to Sexuality. There were 5 exams total and you were expected to finish 80 questions in 50 mins except for final. Some questions were free points obviously; some were from textbooks but not on the PPT. Read the PPT before the exams and you should be fine if you just want B w/o reading textbook
She's a good person. She's pretty funny, but she does not like to be disrespected. The test are a little heavy, but she explains everything well and keeps you updated regularly with changes and assignments. If you follow directions/the syllabus, read the chapters, and take notes, this class is an easy B+ to an A
While I can tell she's clearly passionate about health (esp. sexuality) & does a good job of conveying mass amounts of information to a large class, she's hella nit picky on how she grades assignments. She does offer 5 unexcused absences but if you go to all the lectures it's easy to slide by with a B on the tests without even buying the textbook.
What a genuinely unpleasant person. Easy class that't the only reason she got a 2 but she is just so unfriendly and mean. Lectures are all you need to pass I never studied or even bought the textbook just do the work. I mean what kind of professor gets mad at people for leaving class to go to the bathroom, it's not high school anymore.
This class isn't hard but she makes it so unpleasant. Her lectures are extremely dull, she will take 1 point off your grade for using your phone (this includes BEFORE and AFTER class if you're in the room, doesn't matter), gets extremely upset and will call you out for leaving to go to the bathroom. 5 tests, 4 passports, and wellness reports. Easy
The class is extremely easy & you have 5 excused absences. Eicher is fine as a professor. But as a person, she is awful. She will call students out for using their phones or going to the bathroom and it's really awkward. She's mean and just doesn't respect her students. Bogus phone policy. Should be teaching middle School.
Not approachable or understanding at all. She treats her students as if they are in middle school and gets agitated if someone leaves the room to use the bathroom. Had an incident where I tried to talk to her at office hours and she would not even listen or explain myself. Easy class but there are better professors.
LESLEY EICHER IS THE DEFINITION OF MY WORST NIGHTMARE. Honestly, shows no respect for her students, doesn't give anyone the benefit of the doubt, and acts like everyone in this HEALTH 100 GEN ED COURSE is incompetent. Not a hard class, but really makes it a terrible experience. If you want to feel like your opinion doesn't matter, then take her.
One of the most unpleasant people I have ever met. Doesn't listen to anything you have to say even if you come to her office hours. You will be treated like a sixth grader and cannot leave the classroom without getting an email about it before next class. She tries to make a "positive learning community" but really it's unbearable to be in.
She knows what she's talking about and her tests can sometimes be harder than expected. She does true/false and regular multiple choice (5 exams), but if you do bad on one you can make up for it by doing her other simple assignments. She's pretty straightforward and always tells interesting stories!
Eicher is nice and wants you to do well but has high expectations. Must show up to class, read the tb, and do the "learning outcomes". An A is attainable but you have to put in a little work
She has crazy rules for the class, but if you follow them you won't have a problem. If you listen to her lectures, read the book a little, and do the out of class stuff you'll get an A.
Prof. Eicher is interesting to say the least. She is crazy about all of the rules, but just follow them and you'll at least stay on her good side. Her tests are so specific, which is the worst part of the class. I prioritized this class last, hence the B+, but obviously with even a little more effort than usual, an A is attainable.
She's awesome! I would definitely take her again. A lot of little assignments that overlap each other, but she's a pretty lenient grader. Exams are multiple choice and pretty self-explanatory. Just review the objectives before and you'll do fine!
Prof. Lemons is one of the best options for HTH100. She makes lectures very interesting and relevant to college kids. Her tests are somewhat difficult and tricky so definitely study and use the learning objectives she has on each powerpoint. Attendance is mandatory but I honestly liked going to this class. Passports were easy too. Overall, take her
I really enjoy her class! She is really knowledgeable and will answer ANY questions, especially about sex lol. She's really funny and tries to relate to her students. The class isn't difficult, however she is pretty strict about her rules (which aren't hard to follow). I definitely recommend taking her! Lecture heavy but also has class discussions
Absolutely love Professor Lemons! She makes all of the information you're learning relate to college students. She's so funny and nice, as long as you don't use your phone or pack up while she or someone else is talking. The material was easy to understand and the tests were super easy, too! Super respected by her students, take her if you can!
She is annoying (about phones, seating chart) but a good teacher and she makes class so easy, she has incredibly clear rubrics and makes it clear what to study. Cares about students and good at answering questions. Def take her
She is a bit of a stickler for details, does not allow for any phone use and can be a little bit annoying at times. However, she makes it clear on day 1 about all assignments for the semester and her detailed power points makes it incredibly easy to study and do well on the tests. She grows on you throughout semester and its easy to do well.
This class was sure something. She is ridiculous about the amount of rules she has, with no flexibility, and treats us like 6th graders. The material is easy enough, and I didn't use my book once, and if I had even cared just a little bit I could have gotten an A. Way too high of standards for a health GenEd, don't take it.
She takes herself WAY too seriously. The class is very easy and I would not suggest buying the textbook, I never used it and its expensive. She looks at all of her students as being inferior and has no respect.
Easy class not many grades but she is very easy to get a good grade from. talks like youre 8th graders but very easy course do the basic passports and hours and youre bound for at least a B
She is a nice person and does a great lecture. If you actually take notes on the chapter before the day you talk about it, you don't have to do anything in class.. Graded by a few assignments and has a lot of tests. She's really clear about what to study and the test are fairly easy. Def recommend
Here's what you need to know: DO NOT use your phone, don't pack up early, don't talk during class. 5 absences, 4 passports, 4 tests (80 mult choice & T/F) and a non-cumulative final. If you miss a class all of her notes are on Canvas PPT's. Study the PPT's/textbook for tests and you'll be fine. She will grow on you during the semester. Loved her!!
She's mildly annoying but its a relatively easy class. There are readings but for the most part you can do without. She makes it clear of what will be on the tests, there are 5 including the final and they aren't cumulative. You have few absences which is nice but stay off your phone because she deducts points.
Nice lady but takes this 2 credit class much more serious than needed. She gives out more assignments than my high level classes and her projects often overlap which could be overwhelming if you're taking a heavy course load. Also will not let you have phones, laptop, or other classes work out or she take off points. Very strict on attendance too.
The class is kind of difficult for a health class but if you take notes and remember stuff from high school health you can get an A. She gives a lot of tests so if you don't do great on one you can make it up with the other tests.
This class was pretty easy, there is a textbook that I did not open, her lectures are very detailed there were very few questions on tests that were not in the lecture and only in the reading
This class is ridiculous. Professor Lemons makes me want to fall asleep and her tests are far more detailed than her lectures. She takes herself way too seriously and Health 100 shouldn't be this much of a headache. Don't take this class.
Lemons is the worst professor I have had so far at JMU. She cares very little for her students and her lectures are useless when studying for her intricate exams. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.
one of my top 5 professors at jmu. she likes to interact with her students and make the class more enjoyable. there are 5 tests but they arent cumulative, they are 80 multiple choice questions and can be a little hard but passports, neighborhood assignments and wellness logs are a good grade booster.
i honestly dont know why she gets a bad rep on campus bc i love lemons, she is intense about no phones and takes attendance but she cares about her students and makes class fun and is so sweet in office hours. i didnt use the textbook and theres quite a few little assignments/group work to cushion your midterm and final (which are stupid easy)
Her class is super easy and the material is a breeze. There are a LOT of assignments but it is manageable/ they aren't difficult. She really is so sweet & wants her students to succeed!!
This class is incredibly boring. It isn't very hard but you have to know specifics for the exams that she doesn't cover in class. Don't take.
Super dull lectures, and tests have are pretty tricky in their wording. Shes kind of a tough grader in comparison to other profs and if you ask what is going to be on the test shes really vague. Class isnt super hard though just super dry and not as easy as expected.
Sometimes Lemons seemed to give us too much work for a 2 credit class. The assignments weren't that bad, but the exams were pretty hard and it was unclear what exactly to study for them. Overall, she is very approachable but she's just super strict on attendance and cell-phone use.
Lemons has an annoying voice and, boring lectures, and difficult tests. It's a boring class but if you study a bunch you can manage an A.
Health class is a lot of work in general with passports and such, but shes reasonable. Avoid if you can, but shes not the worst. Shes strict on attendance and phones, overly specific in instructions, and a bit unapproachable. I took a tally of her mkays every class and the record was over 100 so beware (her average was 15).
She was nice, sit in the back if you can. She puts slides online but she does take attendance. I would avoid unless your TA is as hot as mine, then this class is not super bad. Just don't buy the book, take notes (or don't I'm not your daddy), and study the slides a day or so before each test and you will be perfectly fine.
The absolute worst.
Lemons' class made me contemplate dropping out of JMU- I have never hated a class more in my college career. She is a stickler about any sort of technology being out during class and makes the class more difficult than it needs to be for a 2 credit class. Many BS assignments that she grades more difficult than necessary. I would avoid.
Lemons gets a bad rep on here but she is not that bad at all. Youre going to take a lot of notes during lectures, but if you are the slightest bit interested in health, it shouldnt be too boring. Sometimes shes kinda funny you never know what to expect just dont have your phone out or talk !
Lemons is terrible, she just reads from the textbook and can not answer any in depth questions. She takes the class so seriously with assigned seats and constantly talks about distractions, phones, and is so strict with tests, you can't have water bottles or hoods on. To make it worse her tests don't even line up with the notes.
If you are dreading 150 as much as I was, cut it out! The assignments seem excessive and irrelevant, but almost all of them were super useful for grad school/job/other hth classes prep. Very easy A if you put forth minimal effort, but you will want to try on assignments because they come in handy. Also she has really positive energy.
Lemons was one of the best professors I've had at JMU. She's super friendly (go by her office hours!!) and her class was extremely straightforward. If you go to class and take notes on what she says, you'll pass with no problem (and she puts her powerpoints online). She's big on no technology but it's not that big of a deal.
Shes a nice woman and wants her students to succeed but her exams are soooo hard for no reason! Its common sense material. She does all correct answers but you decide which one is most correct. Everyone I talked to failed her tests. Hard to get an A
She is a nice lady and really wants her students to learn something from class. She is very strict during lecture so attendance and not using your phone is free points! Her tests are fair and require studying from both the textbook and powerpoints. Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities and classwork that boosts grade!
This is a very doable gen ed. Lectures are long and boring, but they're posted for reference. 5 exams with 80 questions each with some filler assignments throughout the semester that are worth much less. She did offer two small extra credit opportunities. Overall pretty painless -- as long as you review your notes you should be fine.
Lemons is an average Health 100 professor, though her teaching style is very reminiscent of high school. She practices class-wide punishments and says things like "I'll WAIT" when one person is whispering. However, the tests are pretty easy and the homework, like passports and physical wellness, are simple and not time-consuming.
Makes a two credit class more work than it should be. If you turn in the wrong assignment or miss the date she doesn't allow you to turn it in late. The test were easy, only studied for about 30 minutes for the mid term, but the questions were asked weird. She wants you to choose the BEST answer. Projects over lap.
Prof Lemons is knowledgeable & kind, but can be strict during lectures (using your phones & more than 5 skips will hurt your grade). Lectures can be really dry/drag on but info is applicable, she posts the slides, & takes time to answer questions. Four 80 question exams & a few easy assignments.
Made a 2 credit class a lot more complicated and work heavy than my 4 credit anatomy class honestly was. Tons of group projects that can be frustrating if you're stuck with a bad group, and you'll have 2 or 3 projects going at the same time. The class was really informative, but kind of hard to get an A in.
Lemons was very strict with attendance and phone use. It seemed like there was a lot of work for a 2 credit class, and there was a lot of group/partner work. You could tell that she was passionate about the material, and she was very approachable.
The actual information is pretty easy to grasp but she somehow makes the tests super difficult. Luckily there's plenty of other assignments to help boost your grade, but it's still frustrating. Lectures are dry and boring. She's super strict about phones and attendance (3 misses allowed). A good grade is attainable, but avoid if you can.
Honestly you're better off taking a KIN class than another of the health professors. For a class that should be such an easy A she really is the worst and is so picky about assignments. Even though I did well in her class she really made it as hard a possible. Her lectures are so boring and she is so rude to her students. If possible, avoid her!
She is super nice in office hours but just gives a ton of unnecessary assignments. WAY too much work for an introductory 2 credit class. The midterm is 25 questions and difficult for no reason. You will have to work for your grade and read the textbook. "Everything is fair game"
Mrs. Lemons is quite a strict teacher and I personally do not like the way she talks to her students. She talks to us as if we were little kids and repeats directions a billion times. She is super strict about phones and the notes in this class are the WORST. should be an easier class considering its a gen ed and it is health.
I thought Lemons was overall a good professor, but at times would talk to students like they were still in middle school. 5 tests that were all 80 multiple choice questions that werent hard with some random small assignments throughout the semester. Overall a pretty easy class!
Lemons was amazing! Midterm is 25 questions, 1 group project with many milestones. There are other major assignments that help boost up your grade. Final is cumulative. In order to do well on her exams, just go over the learning outcomes which are at the end of her PowerPoint's. Highly recommend her!
Lemons is a nice lady and wants her students to do well. You can tell she enjoys the subject. I have never put so much effort into a 2 credit class. It is an unnecessary amount of work and so time-consuming. I would avoid if possible if you want to have spare time.
Taking this class with Lemons won't kill you or anything. Her lectures are boring and tests are common sense yet not an easy A at the same time. I struggle to stay awake in her class. Just weigh your options. If she works with your schedule go for it, but expect to be bored.
Lemons is a great professor. The class is extremely assignment heavy but she tells you exactly what she wants so it is not hard to do well and the tests are easy.
She makes this class harder than it needs to be. She makes you memorize 10 different types of something & remember things about each other, in addition to knowing 4 other chapters of the book. DONT TAKE HER
Lectures are so boring. Overall I think she made the tests harder then they needed to be. She is also very against technology.
I found this class to have a lot of helpful resources that I can use in the future. Overall, easy class if you do the assignments. There is one group project that has milestones which makes it flow smoothly. As long as you are engaged and present throughout the semester, mid-term and final are easy A's with minimal studying.
She treats the class like a middle school class. Almost seems as if she wants people to do poorly in her class with the way she structures it. Very rude, and very disrespectful to students when they ask questions about assignments, rather than answering them she will tell them to refer to the class guidelines. Worst teacher Ive had yet.
She gives way to much work for a 2 credit class, she makes the online quizzes lock down browser and stupidly hard. The midterm exam was hard for no reason. HTH 150 isnt suppose to be a hard class, but she makes it so awful.
For a 2 credit class she gives way too many assignments and most of them are busy work. She treats the class like you are in middle school and is very strict on attendance and phone use. The class should be an easy A but she makes it harder and doesn't give clear directions for projects. Midterm and final were unnecessarily hard.
Honestly, Lemons isn't that bad she just assigns so much work. The amount of work for this 2 credit class was honestly ridiculous. She'll also assign like 4 projects all at the same time so it's sorta confusing. The lectures aren't that bad, and she tries to get everyone engaged. She's really nice, the class is just too much work for only 2 credits
It's not the worst class, the info is relevant but the class itself is tedious. There's lots of small assignments due, and if you don't do well on a major assignment it's hard to recover. Its also extremely difficult to locate information on assignments and its often unclear what the expectations are
Professor lemons took this basic introduction course and assigned more work than expected. There are many group projects throughout the semester. Lectures are typically interactive class activities, guest speakers, and lecturing off a powerpoint. She's rude with her email policy and responses, so don't contact her outside of class unless you must.
She gets a bad wrap but is not terrible. Unnecessarily strict but if you put in the effort you should at least get an A-. It is her way or the highway but she can be nice sometimes when you least expect it. I would say overall it is pretty fair gen ed if you go to class and do not go on your phone.
For a Gen Ed, the amount of effort and time spent on this class is way too much work. She gives tests on stuff that's discussed very little in her notes and makes the tests very hard, sometimes with trick answers. Wouldn't suggest this class if your looking for an easy HTH100 course.
Please DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! This is my least faviorte Proffessor I have ever had. She acts like she cares but then is very passive aggressive. Also be ready to be treated like a 5 year old. What makes this class so hard is that her instructions are so unclear, when things are due is unclear and grading is random.
Great teacher. made class so interesting i looked forward to going to her class. I learned what profession i was interested in from this class. Shes very organized and on top of things almost too much it becomes overwhelming. Id definitely recommend.
For an introductory course, I believe that this class was very hard. Having so many assignments, you would think that that would boost your grade, but her grading is so harsh that that is not the case. It is a ridiculous amount of work for a 2 credit class. She is not very accessible. She often is very rude in her emails. It's her way and thats it
For an intro course, it is very assignment heavy, which is great for grades but not great when you have 3-4 other courses that are much harder. I spent a lot of time doing unnecessary assignments for the class and she requires you to attend every class and you're allowed 3 skips before she starts taking 10 points off of your final grade.
She is a very nice person and gives good lectures for the most part. Some of her work I felt was very extra & unnecessary. You will get points deducted if you use your phone in class or any technology. Goes through slides pretty fast & says you get the information later (when her slides are more of an outline). She repeats instructions a lot.
Miss Lemon is a good teacher, she gives good feedback in her comments. In order to pass the class, you need to read what she asked for and do all your homework before the due date.
This class is so extra to be two credits, so just prepare for that. Her lectures are pretty boring, and the midterm and final are straightforward, but you should study or else you might confuse yourself. Just be prepared for dumb activities in class that really don't do much for the class. The homework is really extra as well
I took HTH 150 online over the summer w/her. She was a fantastic teacher! She was easy to access and responded to emails very quickly. The assignments and lectures were straight forward and easy to follow. Her tests weren't bad if you studied the notes before. I know she's probably different online, but if you can take this online w/ her DO IT!
Lemons gives so much work for a 2 credit class its not even funny. She thinks that this is the only class we have and there are so many assignments that it's hard to keep track of. The tests are also hard and you really have to work for them but she is a nice lady that is willing to help you.
This class was fine and is honestly easy to pass, but don't expect to have any interaction with Mrs. Lemons. There's a lot of work that builds up and you have to finish everything due for the day during the same day, which kind of sucks. Not the worst but not the best.
People complain that Lemons gives too much work, but it's really easy and straightforward. Lectures are short and the assignments will actually help you once you graduate. I loved this class and Lemons always gave me great feedback. If you email her, she'll tell you exactly what to fix and is never vague.
This class was honestly not bad, but the professor is more of the problem. This is a gen ed class, so I know there are a lot of students, but the 4-5 TAs she has basically run her class. She is extremely unhelpful and quite snotty/stuck up during emailing. Do not expect much from her or for some of her assignments/quizzes to make much sense.
I thought this HTH 150 class would be easy enough because it was a 2 credit class, but no. Y'all there's so much busy work for a 2 credit class, and then considering everything was mainly online this year I felt like I didn't have enough time to complete other assignments for other classes. There were very few things that I liked about the class.
this class its really not worth 2 credits for the amount of work assignment. Everyday of class there's AT LEAST 1 thing to turn in. The class should be at least 3 credits and while I understand every professor decides how to run their class, she's very strict. too strict, almost as if we were not in the middle of a pandemic. not difficult, but busy
I don't care that we had a lot of work and assignments since they weren't hard. However, she is not understanding whatsoever and will not accommodate you for anything. Take a different professor if you can.
Do NOT take her. she's very rude to her students and very unaccommodating. HTH150 is a two credit class and the amount of coursework you have to do is absolutely insane. If you can take someone else, do it.
Lemons creates POINTLESS assignments. Although they usually aren't very hard, they are VERY time consuming and there are a lot of them. She also takes off points for very stupid things, which is extremely frustrating. I managed to get an A at the end, but I had to put in a lot of effort and meet up with her a few times.
Ms. Lemons is a good person, but is definitely not a good teacher. She was super inaccessible, and often was rude when I was able to get a response from her. She's also not super qualified to be a teacher. I had a major life event while taking this class that didn't allow me to work for a bit, she did not seem to care. Canvas was also confusing.
Lemons often comes across as condescending in her written instructions and emails. If you set up a meeting with her, she seems a lot nicer. There is going to be A LOT of work in this class - almost something everyday. The little assignments and quizzes are easy but the exams are difficult and come from the power points and textbook.
Do not take the class with this professor. There is a lot of work, but really it's not that hard so I don't mind it. She comes off as rude when she is explaining how to do the assignments. Also she's a harsh grader. I follow the rubric completely and she always finds something wrong with the work, deducts stupid points for little things.
This is my second class with Lemons, I got a B in HTH 100 with her my freshman year, for some reason she grades so much harder for HTH 150 and she is not flexible AT ALL, avoid if possible.
Prof Lemons is possibly the worst professor I have had at JMU. Her canvas is incredibly confusing and all over the place, and she is INCREDIBLY condescending in emails. There is a lot of busy work that is due the same day it opens. The class is easy but if you can take another prof, definitely do. Such a rude woman.
Do me a favor, do not take this class. She replies in a rude way to your emails, never understands students. This is supposed to be physical wellness class, not making you cancer class. Not going to lie, quizzes and some assignments are easy but exams... Let's not talk about that. Canvas and due dates are messed up and so confusing.
Way too much work for a 2 credit class. She graded my group very harshly for the infographic project and the feedback she gave us was contradictory to the project instructions.
lemons is nice but her class is ridiculous for a gen ed. every class is a textbook reading, lecture, quiz and powerpoints. her class took me more hours than most of my other classes. im ending with an A but thats bc i tried HARD if u want a chill or easy gen ed, dont take lemons
This prof never had actual class and gave so much homework especially toward the end of the semester. For a class that is supposed to be an easy A, her grading makes this very hard to do. She is also very passive aggressive if you email her but is super nice in office hours - strange.
Dr. Lemons is a great professor! I have had her twice and I love her! She grades in a timely manner. There are some group assignments but they are very easy. A quiz to go with almost every lecture but they are simple as well. Stay on top of the work and its an A!
Dr. Lemons is a great choice! Did have a lot of assignments but they were nothing too difficult. I took this during the winter session and even though it was accelerated it was still good! Highly recommend her!
Lemonss work is not bad at all. But BEWARE because you will finish the class with a good grade and then shell go back in and change the way she graded them. I went from an 89 to a 81 because she just had to regrade everything the LAST day of class. A LOT of people failed her class because she did that. She is NOT helpful, dont even try to email.
wow, this professor really believes shes here to help the students. This is a GEN Ed class which I understand Will have a little bit of material thats hard. But the way that she over complicated the simplest assignment was absurd. Shes very harsh greeter for this being a two credit class. I was going to drop out so many times fearing an C.
She is so strict for no reason. God forbid someone had to pee, shed start lecturing on how disrespectful we are. She treats this class like its the end all be all. Work isnt crazy heavy, but you do have to put effort in. Wellness passports are a neat idea though, I dont mind them.
Unless you want to be treated like youre in elementary school. Dont take this class. You arent allowed to use the bathroom, go on your phone/computer, talk, or even put your head down during class. This is literally a Gen Ed and I had to put in more work than my major classes(Math). Worst professor I have ever had in my 3 years of college
Ive never had a professor more rude to their students. Going to the bathroom or talking or dozing off in class would result in the entire class being told how disrespectful they were in the most spiteful way possible. Shes also a very tough grader. If there is any other professor, please take them instead!!!
Prof. Lemons is a fine option for health, she cares about her students and what she teaches but she treats her class like middle schoolers and is condescending at times. She has a very strict attendance policy and there are projects you have to start early. Tests and assignments aren't bad. Pretty easy class if you show up and take notes
Mrs. Lemons has a very easy class. Showing up is the hardest part because you will get the same information if you don't show up. She treats the students like trash and good luck going to the bathroom if you need to because she will yell at you for 10 minutes. The only great thing is that the test are online and the assignments are very easy.
shes not fun. you will pass the class as long as you read the textbook a little, but her lectures are not fun. shes also just kind of intimidating. easy class, not fun teacher.
There is no doubt that Professor Lemons knows what she's talking about - she's a smart woman. However, she's not the most considerate person. First of all, she will assign quizzes/assignments in class, and will have them due the same night, which is very annoying. Also, her Canvas is organized in the worst possible way. Not terrible, but not great.
good teacher, strict with technology and attendance is mandatory but the work is easy and just busywork. highly recommend her!
I really loved Lemons and I thought her class was very easy. She doesn't give a ton of work, just a few small projects and her tests aren't hard.
She is a fine professor, but is very strict with a no electronic policy, seating chart, and other things. Her tests are on lockdown browser, but they are easy. You must go to her class. She marks down if you are there or not. Every single class is a lecture, so thats all you do. She gives very little homework.
She is not considerate or accommodative at all. She will yell at the whole class at some point. Boring lectures and talks slow and weird. I personally didn't like her but as long as you do the work and long term projects , you'll get an A. Tests are mostly common sense.
Lemons is a good professor but all she does is lecture, so if you learn best from lecturing than she's a good choice. You only get to miss 5 classes per semester and she has a TA that will put down if you miss class. You'll have a seating chart, no group work just the basic health 100 work, but all her tests are based on her lectures
Prof Lemons gets worse with each class. She is condescending and rude, is strict about random things, is not available outside of class, changes her syllabus whenever she feels like it, and is honestly just a pain to have for a teacher. Her class itself isn't too bad but her tests are outright ridiculous, asking tiny details. DON'T TAKE HER
Mrs Lemons is super nice and makes HTH 100 a pretty easy class. She doesn't allow laptops in class, so don't take if you don't like taking hand notes. We had quite a few exams, but they are only a few lectures so it is not too difficult to study for them.
No electronics in class, but I prefer taking hand notes. She gives you learning outcomes and if you answer them they are great study guides. the test was online in lock down for my specific section. I personally liked her because she gives a lot of stories from her life that are interesting.
i gave her a rating earlier in the year that wasn't so favorable. i was mistaken. shes cool af. if you take her, you wont like her until the last two weeks when she does the sex unit. i heavily rock with her now.
Lemons is fine, but prepared to do a bunch of work. There's a group presentation you have to do, and if your group doesn't help or contribute, she'll continuously tell you, "I can't do anything, I have to act like this is the real world", so you're pretty much giving your group a free grade. She gives too much work for a 2 credit class.
4 exams throughout the year, the final is not cumulative. Easy course if you pay attention and take notes. Just don't go on your phone or talk in class because you will lose points off of your final grade.
I would take someone else for HTH150. She is a good teacher, but really tough grader. Course material is very easy to understand, and I think the grading was a little tough for some of the bigger assignment.
lemons is honestly a solid choice. she may come off as strict, but her policies really aren't that bad. she's clearly a very smart and knowledgeable woman. I've had an A all year, just do the work and you will too. you only get 5 absences so I would plan those out well. graded by 5 tests, a few long term projects, and some random small assignments
Professor Lemon's is the worst health 100 professor definitely suggest finding a different one.
HTH 100 is supposed to be a breeze but not with professor lemons. I had an A all year until she put in assignments during the last week of school that weighed down my grade and there was nothing I could do about it. I would not take her as a professor again, she is too serious and just kind of rude.
I would not take prof lemons again, and if you can, i'd choose any other HTH prof. She doesn't allow any electronics in class so you HAVE to take hand written notes. She started out the year giving exams with just lockdown browser, but then randomly added webcam, so obviously grades dropped. Also, she grades the end of the year project too harshly.
Lemons treats her students like they're in middle school. Do not get up to go to the bathroom if you don't want her to stop class to lecture about how its disrespectful and distracting. You also get points taken off your grade for absences and for going on your phone.
Great prof overall, but very lecture and test heavy. You don't really need to read the whole textbook just certain chunks or tables that she'll mention in the lectures with page numbers. You will need a BIG notebook.
Good prof, but gives way more work than you'd expect from a 2-credit class. Participation and discussion is literally the entire class. Not a bad choice, but be ready to participate and do a good amount of busy work.
Ms. Lemons was fairly engaging, but she was also pretty strict. Her no-electronics rule is intense, and she did have a bit of a temper. Her lectures get more interesting as time goes on, and she does pretty good lectures on topics she enjoys, but the stuff she doesn't can tend to be a bit boring.
as a junior im coming back to rate her from freshman year hth100. she was the rudest prof ive ever had. you cant use your phone, computer, or go to the bathroom in her class when it's COLLEGE. she grades so harshly and has a short tempter. she constantly yelled at us during lectures. seriously stay away esp if you are a freshman...
The class is an easy class, the material is basic, what she talks about is easy to understand. The problem is her. She treats her class like middle school. She is overly strict, doesnt allow any electronics, will lessen your grade if you have electronics, and has assigned seating. If you have to take this course, dont do it with her.
Lemons is a great professor and provides the material you need to succeed in her class. She is pretty strict about attendance, but is very reasonable. She's one of the main HSci professors so if you're in that major you'll most likely have her at least once. She has a very accepting and energetic personality and is honestly an amazing professor.
I love Professor Lemons, she keeps it real and truly does want you to succeed. She is VERY strict about attendance and electronics, but it isn't unbearable. I really did learn a lot from her and this class, but it is quite a bit of work, especially for two credits. Be prepared to do uncomfortable exercises and speak to everyone in the class.
AVOID! Very very strict for a gened, thought the other bad reviews were dramatic but they are not. Dislike Lemons as a teacher and as a person, least favorite Gen-Ed I've taken. Tests were too difficult for a health class and the expectation is you know way more than what's actually covered. Monitored online with lockdown browser/webcam. AVOID!!
I love Mrs. lemons. She is always prepared, always ready to teach, and she really loves her students. Unlike HTH 100, she gets to know her students and prepares them for the real world. Even though class is mandatory, it is quick and straight to the point. I would take her again and again.
I had this professor for Health 100, I think she does a good job at giving us all materials for exams. Lecture notes are very helpful in preparing for exam. She is super strict about no electronics in class, which I find frustrating because I like to type notes on laptop, but can't in her class.
Professor Lemons is fine, she's polite to you if you care about the class. She's easily accessible through office hours, and the material is easy enough if you pay attention. I really only had to go over the vocabulary from the textbook but not read the chapters. If you are rude in her class, she will be rude back and attendance is mandatory
professor lemons clearly is extremely organized and knows what she's doing, makes learning the material straightforward. however, she talks to us like we're children that don't know anything. i understand presenting clear criteria for our and her own benefit and ease, but i am an adult that doesnt need to be talked to as if im 7
All I can say is wow, and not in a good way. Do not take her!! She is the most strict professor I have had. No electronics are allowed in her class and you aren't even allowed to use the bathroom. You get 5 absences and after that, she takes a lot of points off your final grade. This is college, we should not be treated like middle schoolers.
This is probably one of the most strict teachers I have ever had in my life. She reminds me of a 5th grade teacher that happens to be teaching a lecture class at an accredited university. Attendance is mandatory and if you go over, she takes ten points off of your grade. No electronics, no bathroom, boring overall class. It's not the most difficult
Not a hard class unless you have a problem just focusing in class with no electronics. Textbook might be helpful but if you take notes and pay attention in class you can get above a B on every exam. Participation matters and every response is correct in her eyes. Very nice and caring professor unless students are disrespectful
Clearly a very organized and self-confident professor, but somewhat belittling? She often talked to the class as if we were all 8, and if you don't follow her very specific instructions for each assignment she has absolutely zero patience. Lectures are boring, but required, if you don't attend after five absences, your final grade will be affected.
I love Mrs. Lemons (I took her for 100 + 150)! If you do your work and are respectful you won't have a problem. The class does have a lot of work involved with it, but it isn't hard. She can be a tough grader but if you follow the rubric she gives you should be okay. I would take her for every health class if I could
Although the course material is not hard, she does not show any sort of understanding, and she teaches her class like we are middle schoolers. Attendance is mandatory and you can only miss up to 3 classes INCLUDING when you are sick. My friend had her and was sick with the flu when she STILL made her take an exam, which she ended up failing.
She is a good professor but tends to micromanage and act like we are still in elementary school. Tests are easy and so are assignments.
Honestly, the class itself was very easy. But Lemon's was a very rude person who didn't care what you had going on in life, she would take your grade down 20% if you missed 5 classes. INCLUDING sick with doctors notes, death, or surgery. Lectures were extremely boring and she would go out of her way to make your head explode with extra instruction
I absolutely adore professor Lemons. She is very understanding and clearly loves to do her job. The lectures are always entertaining and dont put me to sleep. There are many chances for you to get a good grade - just do the work. The exams are relatively easy if you study, they are very straight forward. I highly recommend.
Mrs. Lemons is the best! She uses activities that are useful for the real world. Best choice for HTH 150. This class has a lot of work but none of which is very hard or takes very long.
Treats you like a 2yr old&is extremely demeaning.Lectures are abt the easy stuff&the tests are nothing like the lectures(textbook).5 absence rule, after that 10 points off final grade.the TA is a little snitch w/ attendance.don't trust her.puts you to sleep&talks to you like you don't know basic things.easy assignments, but avoid if u can.cranky.
Too much work for a 2 credit class, but an easy A if you do the work. No need to read the textbook, I never did and got an A. Most of this class is common sense and I never studied much and still ended with an A. She is pretty strict though. Take this class if you are organized and wont' forget homework.
Was always in a horrible mood. Singled multiple kids out in class for asking simple questions and proceeded to basically scream at them in front of whole class. Lectures are extremely boring. Graded attendance.
I understand why people don't like her but she is very organized and helpful if you reach out. Textbook and lecture heave for the test but the other assignments are easy. I agree that she would talk to use the middle schoolers and lash out sometimes tho.
My grade in canvas was an A- but she posted it "officially" as a B- and gave no explanation or response to my email. Also she is a very harsh grader
Made another rate earlier, but after viewing my transcript, her rating has gone to a 1. I had an A all year in this class but she gave me a B, the same thing happened to multiple students in her class. Our grades were dropped a whole letter grade, even though the syllabus says that canvas has all the grades. Unfair and changed the way I see her.
Not a bad professor, lectures were well planned and covered important topics. She was definitely too strict on attendance and technology use for a college class. It was very clear what was going to be on tests, even though they were challenging and long. Only take this class if you are willing to attend every class and put in the work.
Like most health sciences majors, I worked extremely hard in this class, especially since it was tedious and excessive. After having an A all semester on Canvas, my grade has now been lowered to a B on my transcript with absolutely no explanation. For a mentor who preached fairness and professionalism all semester, this is FAR from it. Avoid her.
Professor Lemons does take her class pretty seriously but there is a lot of good content that she covers and she knows what she's talking about. You're required to go to UREC for this class but it's easily doable over the semester. She's pretty strict but if you listen to her you won't have that hard of a time in this class.
Professor Lemons teaches this class as if it were kindergarten. She preaches fairness, respect, and professionalism but lacks all of those things herself. Her tone is condescending and sometimes outright rude. The information she teaches is good, but she reads off a paper the entire time making it boring. Avoid her if you can.
I love Mrs. Lemons! I had her for HTH 100 & 150. She is very clear on grading criteria and very detailed in her lectures. There is only a midterm and a final exam, both of which were super easy. The assignments were time consuming, so don't procrastinate. I enjoyed this class and looked forward to it. Get to know her, she's so nice and is very cool
Professor Lemons is the single worst JMU professor I've ever had the displeasure of being a student of. She talks to her students as if they are children, and insists that this single general education class is, and I quote, "the most important class any of you will ever take." She ridiculously strict policies, and is uncontactable outside of class
Professor Lemons is not a nice woman. She makes extremely simple and basic class materials challenging, and behaves as if she wants her students to fail.
I had professor Lemons last year. I had a written doctors note because I fell very ill and physically couldn't be in class a majority of the semester and she wasn't understanding of my situation at all. She preaches understanding and fairness but doesn't practice those values whatsoever. She will treat you like an actual child and wants you to fail
I am now about to graduate as a health sciences major with an above average GPA and this was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. Lemons was very condescending to students and treated everyone like they were in elementary school with assigned seats and mandatory attendance. My biggest advice is to literally take anyone else.
