Hard to follow, doesn't make the already difficult material any easier to understand. Skips helpful things like pictures, and when she DOES give examples they only serve to confuse. Kind of nutty, seems like a really nice PERSON, but not too great of a PROFESSOR.

I think people give her a bad rep because of her personality. I thought the class was awesome. Tests are fair, mildly difficult, taken straight from the powerpoints (posted on blackboard). Melloni's lectures SUCKED in comparison. Know's her stuff and then some. A little cold, kinda hard to get extra help, but do some studying and you're fine.

She was pretty confusing and hard to follow at times. Also would not answer any questions in depth. The class was totally memorization and pretty much an easy A. Also, there are no pre reqs so bio/science majors should not expect a challenging class! There were people that didn't know what DNA was.

Ricci is not a bad professor, but she has some problems: she does not see the students as a class. She sees the students as an audience, and she is the performer. She is often more concerned with making people laugh than with actually answering questions, teaching, or being helpful. If you get something useful out of her show, so much the better.

She was never prepared for class and she told "jokes" way too often which is inappropriate when people (like myself) were struggling to understand the difficult material. She thought she was a "fun" and "cool" teacher, but the class was completely boring and simply a waste of time.

Do you want to understand how neurology affects psychology? Would you like to actually "get" why thought occurs? Enjoy her, because she knows why specifically, and is more than capable of helping you to understand--if you want to understand. If you don't, don't bother, but you don't need to be in the profession. Neuro & Psych are converging.

Professor Ricci is one of the best Psychology teachers at Northeastern University. If people give her bad ratings it is because they don't go to her class or they get bad grades because they are stupid and can't read. I have an A in her class and I study the notes and the book and always do fine.

Team-taught w/ Dr. Melloni, and both profs were great. Lesley has a lot of field experience w/ drugs (we got to see her sad/gross slides of brains on drugs), so that unit is especially interesting. I have no bio background, therefore this was the hardest class I've taken at NU, but she made it easy to understand. Very willing to stay after class and help out. Tests are hard, but are all multiple choice/matching, and she gives a thorough review.

Doctor Ricci exceeds expectations in every area. She is remarkably intelligent and willing to help and most importantly pause for student understanding and discussion. Lectures are engaging and informative. Her honesty about topics in psychology and human nature are reassuring and inspirational. She is genuinely an amazing human.

Dr. Ricci is a neuroscientist so when answering questions she provides a lot of experience and prior knowledge. Her lectures are interesting and she's fun and easy to talk to. The grade for this class was based on discussion forums and 2 exams. It isn't difficult to do well in this class if you participate, pay attention and review lectures.

1st half of semester is just an intro to DSM + review of biopsych + psychopharm + genetics. Not that hard but she is not a gifted lecturer & can be v confusing. Ppts held little info so had to take good lecture notes. TAs & recitations were super helpful tho. 2nd half of sem case studies. One cs usually took me a full day 2 do & a lot of research

Though Ricci can seem scary, she is very straightforward. She wants her students to do well. The nature of the class however is pretty hard. But she makes it easier by relating it to her past jobs and real life examples

Prof Ricci is super nice and her lectures are very organized and easy to follow. The structure of the class when taken online is a bit strange. She posts the lectures and you watch them outside of class and then the lecture times are used for review and questions. Exams aren't too difficult but some of the questions are a little specific.

Ricci's class is split into 3 days, one for lecture, one for asking her questions, and one where she goes over what will be on the exam. Her lectures are a little difficult to understand, but she makes it very clear what information will be on the exam. She definitely tests on smaller bits of information so know everything from the slides.

her slideshows are very minimal, but it gets to the point. if the class was an hour, she would lecture for 35-40 minutes then ask questions, where you can leave. She's an easy grader and rounded up my grade too. her quizzes and exams are a bit confusing but relatively easy. highly recommend her!!!

I've had her for every psych class I've taken and she is my favorite professor at this school. She cares about her students and always tries to make her lectures entertaining. Considering this how complex the topics covered are, she does a great job simplifying things. She's definitely not for everyone though and a bit all over the place.

Ricci may be hit or miss depending on how you best learn. I'm someone where lectures are very crucial and learning applications of the class knowledge are super important for digesting the material. Ricci was therefore amazing for me because her tangents provide real-world applications to our class material. She can be chaotic, but is intelligent.

I highly recommend Dr. Ricci. She is absolutely hilarious and cares a lot about her students. Attendance (Psych 1101, not sure about other classes) is not mandatory, just read the slides and you'll be just fine. Exams are online and open for a week, you can take them any time you want during that week! Discussion posts - 100 every time. Great.

Ricci is great, and really cares about her students. The mixed reviews are because her lectures are sometimes "all over the place" but that's only because she enjoys going on tangents to explain why material matters and what the real-world applications are. Not hard to do well in her classes, test q's straight from her ppts (and is open-note)!

Dr. Ricci's lectures are often scattered and hard to follow, but very entertaining. That being said, you will probably still do well in her class as she is very fair with her grading and definitely seems to care about student success. Supplementary textbook reading is recommended if you want to learn the content, not just do well in the class.

Class was super interesting. Responds to emails quickly. PowerPoints are super sparse; have to hear lectures in person or they'll make no sense. No rubrics and grades based on her personal opinions of the course material. Doesn't show up to scheduled office hour appts and often impatient when speaking one-on-one.

Dr. Ricci is incredibly knowledgeable, but her lectures can be a bit disorganized at times. Her slides aren't great, but that's because she barely needs them to teach effectively. Her teaching style probably isn't for everyone, but if you're seeking a genuine understanding of the content, she is the right choice.

Ricci's lectures are often times very confusing. It's hard to follow along with her because she often gets sidetracked or explains things in convoluted ways. Overall, I ended up learning a lot from her class, but I needed to spend some extra time with the material by myself to understand what she intended to say.
