Snore! If you take this class, I challenge you to count how many times he says "these guys" or "those guys" or "this guy here". You'll probably loose count around the two thousand point (after about four lectures). On the other hand, it's an easy course and very flexible: you can show up to any section and take tests at many different times.

On the test, before you do each question, you have to dig out the few tiny numbers from that big paragraph of reading which reduce the time for thinking further, a lot of questions vary just by one word but you had to fing out the crucial information, which means you had to read the same words again, which is frustrating and WASTES A LOT OF TIME

The Prof curved DOWN everybody's mark by at least a letter grade, without any reason, nor any communication, nor any explanation, he just ARBITRARILY decided to do this. See the respected tag below? exactly opposite. This is extremely disrespectful to our effort and time. There's a reason why he gets 2.6, try your best to avoid this old SOAB.

Scaling down a course, which the Philosophy department rarely does, is the most lazy and incompetent method of getting a desired grade distribution. This lecturer needs to not treat their students as a mere collection of numbers. If the grade is too high, then you have messed up in the design of your course. Own up to your mistakes, Leslie.

Professor Burkholders classes are minimal work and often refer to material from previous courses over the past decade. They are not difficult, but dont expect to score high in them. Rather than changing the course material to be more difficult, he will curve your marks down 12%.

Burkholder is very smart and always willing to help in office hours. His teaching method isn't so efficient though. Few people showed up to his lectures but I think they were quite interesting. I kinda feel bad for him since most people take his courses just for easy grades...

Took the asynchronous version and it was horrid. Hardly replies to emails, no communication (went on vacation, didn't say that his office hours were cancelled for the next week coming up to finals...), no TA to cover for him, Canvas is not only terribly organized but it was also missing content that the syllabus said we needed to know. AVOID.

Professor Burkholder's method of teaching didn't work for me. The professor's lectures consist of 2 weekly 100-slides slideshows, however, most of the slides are the same, with very small differences, which makes it difficult to follow. Furthermore, the professor is sometimes unprofessional and/or rude. Definitely wouldn't take his classes again.

BO RING. Could not pay attention in class for the life of me so I skipped the last month or so of lectures, maybe more. Bright side, its pretty easy to do well without going to the lectures. You could read the textbook, which I didnt, or just do the HW quizzes. But the prof sucks.

Pretty meh overall as a professor, the class was okay but could have been better. I have beef with the professor specifically because he uploaded the wrong grade, which was an F, to SSC even though I ended up with an A. Took him a month to fix this, with my faculty telling me I was at risk of failing the term. Fun stuff!

The material itself is not difficult, but the roundabout way he teaches is. You'll have to put his lectures on 1.5 speed for him to talk at a regular pace. There is kind of a ridiculous amount of homework assignments, which are easy, but time consuming. Also, he can be condescending when speaking to him directly/emailing.

His lectures are pretty painful ngl. Thankfully you can do quite well in the course without attending them. I had quite a bit of fun writing his assignments though. He also kindly points you to all the resources you need to write a good paper. He's pretty helpful on Piazza too, and he stepped up to help mark papers when needed.

Easiest class ever in terms of content. There are literally two formulas you need to know in this entire class. However, he's ability to teach is beyond comprehension. His monotone voice and the lack of participation activities in lectures makes staying awake a challenge. Oh yeah, and he also scaled down my 97% to a 84% so there's that.

Burkholder's lectures are very dry; however, I found the course super interesting still! Not sure why his rating is so low on RMP. He replies pretty quickly on Piazza and gave us numerous extensions. Your grade is made up of 7 of 11 essays you choose to write. FYI 333 is not the GPA booster it was known to be before (our section average was 76).

All the online homework questions and the exam questions are worded SO poorly - half the time you can't even understand what the question is asking. Lectures are really boring - half of each class is just duplicated from the lecture before, so you might as well show up halfway through and you'd still be taught all the content.

I've taken CPSC 121, and PHIL 120 and got 95%+ on both of them. Don't take this with Burkholder at all costs. The canvas course is incredibly disorganized, 65% final, Leslie scales marks down by 10%. Very harsh marker provides no feedback, technologically illiterate, haven't gotten assignments back I did 2 months ago, requires outdated software.

Professor only responds to half of the questions on piazza, the rest go unanswered although he's online. Course is so disorganized you might as well go thorough the textbook and create your own syllabus to follow. Half the time spent on assignments is decoding his instructions. Content itself is easy, but I would not recommend this course.

Reuses content from previous years, throws them onto canvas and expects us to sort thorough the material ourselves. Gives no feedback nor answer key on canvas so good luck figuring out what you did wrong. He seems like a good person but is very outdated and technologically illiterate (which is important for an online course...).

Doesn't know how to use Piazza, an absolute dinosaur with technology. Uses software from what looks like 2007. If you were comfortable with CPSC121, don't bother watching the lectures or reading the textbook. Just do the quizzes and labs and you should be good. Has never sent an email or made any announcement, it's like he doesn't exist at all.
