Leslie is amazing. Super enthusiastic, and very articulate. She's totally funny, running into our 8:30 class after power-puffing 2 smokes and a liter of black coffee. She hates Britney Spears, and is the only prof who puts cartoons in her exams. She rocks

Very fun and extremely funny. The best introduction to college/university one could have. She makes it so much less intimidating. She is not so great for the mature student, however. If you try to get beyond superficial things, you will be disappointed with her. But her couse is easy and light.

Great prof....but if you need to get ahold of her outside class you're on your own. Posted office hours and responses to e-mails are non-existent. Ask your questions in class!!!!

A little too easy, but so is the course, so what is she to do? Skip class if you like and just collect Powerpoint copies afterwards. Good for generating interesting discussions.

she is my fave by far. i laughed a crap load in her class and she provides good insight and has a ton of experience to back up the insight. i disagree that she pushes her beliefs on you, she just doesn't really try to hide her own. easy marks if you study, hilarious and awkward and i miss her.

What exactly are people talking about her forcing her ideas on you, What, do we live in a freakin' police state? As far as opinions go she has a right to them and they don't in any way affect learning the course.

Relatively easy and gives good study guides. She also provided our notes. Make sure to read the assigned readings, however, as they do appear on the tests to a decent degree. She made the class very fun, enjoyable, and interesting. Would love to have her again!

Awesome teacher! Very clear and organized. Always up for a good class discussion. It's not necessary to show up in order to pass the class, so long as you do all the readings, but most people I know show up anyway, because the class is so much fun!

This is one of the best Prof's u can get. Extremely funny, great stories, and prepares u well for midterms and final exams. I get up in the mornings to just catch her class (8am-9am MWF). Helps you with everything, and is very knowledgable. Pretty good looking too i might add.I'm looking formwatd to take more classes with this proff. 10/10

she is really good. she knows what she is talking about and she is open to questions and comments. you do have to go to class to catch the stuff she talks about but i would love to be taught by her again!

So hilarious! Very friendly. She explains concepts clearly and her notes are very well organized. All you have to do before each class is print them off and follow along in class. Her exams are simple as long as you attend class. She only gives one or two easy homework assignments. The only bad thing is sometimes her stories waste time.

I wish more prof's could be as flexible and easygoing as this one. Extremly easy class, dont bother buying the textbook, i never read it and came out with an A+. Very helpful and funny too.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but she's been great. She's obviously passionate about what she teaches, and genuinely funny. She tells good stories about anthro and made me want to follow the subject more. There was no paper in this course, and the exams were straightforward multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank with no bombshells.

Leslie has been a terrific prof. for Anth 150. However, I'll tell you the same thing she'll tell you on your first day: she's really, really weird. But its a funny kind of weird. Anyway, if you can, get here for any anthro course. Her notes are excellent (I never wrote a thing and got an A+) and her review questions are a REPLICA of the exam.

Leslie is an amazing prof - I had the pleasure of having her in 101, 110, and 393 - her on-line notes and test guides are very straightforward from which her tests are directly (see exactly) derived from. Her in class mannerisms are quirky, humorous, and, while no spring chicken...is kind of minxy

I thought I was taking Fail-Comedy 110. If you take her class in the morning be sure to bring a pillow. Starts every class by saying "What day is it today? - almost Friday!" Her jokes are repetitive and tasteless. Incredibly easy class. Exams are purely based off her notes and textbook readings. Put the slightest effort in and you'll do great.

Great class. Easy tests, good lecture notes and... the jokes are sometimes interesting. The study guide she gives for all the tests are useful. The questions are derived from there! You can pretty much know which questions will be asked after you see the format.

Hilarious. Sticks to the point, and tells you when something is not sufficient in the textbook, and will then explain the concept further. I have her at 8am and she always wakes me up in class. Her class makes going to school every day worth it.

What a fantastic class. I feel like the entire world should take this course with her! I had this class at 8am, and if it wasn't for her I probably wouldn't wake up. Very clear, very helpful, and if necessary she's pretty chill to hang out with in her office if you have questions. Don't take 101 or 110 with any other prof if you want a high GPA

One of the best professors I have ever had... her tests were straight forward as long as you studied, and she was absolutely hilarious! It was a class I could have gotten away with not attending, but even though it was at 8 in the morning, I was there almost every class just waiting to hear what she had to talk about next. One of the best profs I've ever had especially in a 6-9 class!! She got a little sidetracked but mostly in a hilarious way. Her test questions are taken DIRECTLY from the review questions so if you do those, you'll be more than fine!!

If you do the review questions for each powerpoint there is no way you can fail. She gives 2 midterms& one project. Her exams include multiplechoice, fillintheblank & long answer. Leslie is hilarious! I wasn't interested in this class, but Leslie turned a dry (and controversial) topic into something enjoyable and fun to discuss. I never buy textbooks but it really hurt me in this class as about half of the exams are on material directly from the textbooks.(There are 2 textbooks in the class and they are both required).

I loved going to Leslie's class. Anthro 101 was my only class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and this was surprisingly the class I attended most often. She gives examples from her past field work which makes the class more interesting. I was unsure about taking anthro at first, but having her as a prof has made me want to continue! She posts everything on blackboard, gets your marks back to you pretty quick and the class itself isn't that bad, however there are a decent amount of readings but the midterms are straight from the review questions. Definitely taking another glass with her.

Leslie is a very casual professor. She is punctual and gives funny and indepth lectures based on experience and interest on her topic. If you do the readings, do the quizzes (she provides online) do the practice tests and complete the other readings.. you will do well in her class. She tests you on exactly what material covered in the readings.

Leslie is very knowledgable, she's smart and funny and keeps the attention in her lectures. I took ANTH 250 with her, it's in Indigenous issues, and while I was knowledgeable on many issues with the Indigenous peoples of Canada, others in the class were not, you could see the shock on their faces and she lectured.

This was by far one of my easiest classes. There's lots of reading, but its fairly interesting. Assignments and discussions are easy marks. The quizzes and exams are based on her review questions, so if you do them you're fine. Going into my final with a 98.57%, do the work on time and read the textbook and you'll do fine.

Loved her last semester for 110 and the beginning of this class, but towards the end of the semester she seemed to get a bit snippy and not nearly as nice as she was before. That being said, its a good class. LOTS of readings though, a lot of them dry. Amazing the things we learned, however... I think everyone needs to take this class!

Leslie is great for this online class. Discussions are basically bonus marks. The quizzes are really easy if you do the readings and ok if you just guess. She marked the papers a little harder than I expected but I got an 85 and 90. Final repeated questions from the quizzes, but you need to do the readings to answer the short answer.

By far the most amazing teacher ive ever had, she gives good feedback marks fairly easily and has such amazing stories to tell, i missed alot of classes and still finished with an 89. I was so excited to get up for a 9am class bc of her, she also posts notes on bb. Exams are extremely straightforward and exactly like the review questions.

She was funny. So very enjoyable. Whats more is she was really organized. At the start of the term we could access the readings, topic and assignment schedule, and lecture slides. While she was a bit tough marking the exams it is fair and she was more generous on the group work and participation. A busy course but her humour made it stellar.

This is such an awesome course, and Dawson makes it even better! Textbooks are a must, she does pop up discussions that are random so lecture attendance is required. Awesome course, i'd definitely recommend!

Dr. Leslie Dawson is a hilarious and effective prof so coming to class is no hard work! She provides a review guide for every lecture topic and even provides page numbers for important take away readings from the textbooks. As long as you go through the review guides, you should do well in this class!

Good prof, learned a lot on the subject matter and it wasn't that difficult. Get an easy 10% just from online discussions. Do need to read the textbook. Replaces a lot of Fridays with online videos. Exams are decently easy as long as you study a little for it.

Leslie is able to take some very heavy subject matter and present it from an unbiased perspective all the while remaining respectful of other's opinions. Her lectures and exams are straightforward which allows for easier integration of classroom discussion and understanding. Very personable with students and willing to help if needed.

Leslie is absolutely amazing! Online discussions are an easy 100%, and exams are a breeze because she provides you with key concepts to review. An A letter grade is easily achievable on exams if you put some time into studying, and use her review quizzes.

Leslie is passionate in teaching Anthropology and racism. Respectful to other's opinion. Accessible outside class. Her exams requires a lot of memorization and reading. Assignments are easy but time consuming to do.

Leslie is always willing to help her students if they need it and she responds to emails in a timely manner as well. The class is comprised of discussions, 2 assignments, module quizzes, a midpoint comprehensive quiz, and a final. All of which are VERY easy if you keep up with the assigned readings. I'd take every anthro course with her if I could!

I took this course online and the material is interesting. The only thing is that there is a LOT of quizzes and discussions (each week). They're not particularly difficult so anyone can get an easy A if you keep up with the reading and assignments.

Leslie wants her students to do well. She often grants extensions and is always available to help or answer questions. She makes taking about tough subjects easier, by showing that she cares about the effects the issues cause on everyone. All of her lectures have review questions, and she tests right from those. The final is not cumulative !

Leslie is awesome. Even though the class was online, she gave excellent feedback and makes the course as easy as pie. She was a good instructor, realises that students have other things to do and did not expect a crazy ton to be done. Her tests are based on the practice questions, reread the notes and do those and you'll be fine. I wish that she had covered more material though, it seemed as though the course was a dumbed down version of what could be taught.

This was my 3rd class with Leslie and she never fails to disappoint. Exams were easy (2 Midterms and a Final), the TF were kind of tricky though, but be sure to do the review questions and the readings and you'll do fine!. Online discussions (easy 10%), and make sure you get a good group for the digital story! I would take a 4th class with her :)

I took online ANTH250 with Leslie and it was one of the best online classes I have taken throughout my university career. Online resources are sufficient to get an A in the class, information he provides you with is VERY interesting, assignments and discussion posts are also very interesting. I suggest you take this class!

Never taken an easier class. Two assignments, five discussions and 10 easy quizzes plus the final exam. Got 100% on both essays, would recommend for a GPA booster.

She doesn't make you write a comprehensive final, it just refers to the info in the last half of the course, so that's a bonus. She's super funny and gives clear expectations of what she wants. She also only makes you do (for example) 3/5 discussions so you can pick the topics you're most comfortable with to get the highest grade. Easy quizzes.

This class was an easy A. She claims she doesn't want to give students test anxiety so she gives you the questions before hand. I would definitely take her class again. She very nice and funny if you do show up to the lectures which isn't necessary you'll enjoy them. Shes a kind soul. This other assignment she would give you 100 if you just did it

Leslie is blunt and can come across a little harsh sometimes, but only if you acted a certain way to receive that. She does care and her classes are coherent. If you stick to her reviews, do the quizzes, and do the readings you will be a-okay.

This prof was one of my first and replied to emails within 2 hours, very fun lectures (as fun as a lecture can be), course material available online, gives online quizzes (mandatory, worth 1% each, 10 or so in total) but takes questions from these quizzes, also does 4 online discussions with very interesting and easy-to-write-on topics, would take.

Leslie is a great prof, tries her best to make your day a little brighter the best she can. It is clear in her lectures that she truly cares about her students and is very reasonable when it comes to her expectations. She emphasizes examples rather than purely memorization of definitions and made the class very fun and interesting.

Even though this was an online class, Leslie wrote out lecture material to read every week which was so helpful and is much better than completely relying on the text. Could get away with not having the textbook but I'd suggest getting it. Quizzes each week and assignments throughout. Very easy A

Just make sure you get into a good group somehow. Otherwise, digital stories are a really good experience! Make sure to study the review questions and do the practice tests!

She is a gem and a great professor! 100% would recommend

she is an amazing professor. Her outline is straightforward and doesn't bother you with constant emails and or changing in assessment grading. Easy course, final is multiple choice and 5 short answer. Responds to emails in 24 hrs. Do readings, quizzes, discussions and assignments and u will a+. got to pick the assignments that u wanted to do.

Leslie was an amazing prof even if the course was online. She has clear grading expectations and as long as you do all of the readings and participate you will get what you put in.

I've never met Leslie or talked to her besides her once and a while emails explaining things but this class is probably the easiest class I've taken. Its a lot of reading, you basically read the whole textbook but if you do it, itll make everything else so much easier. She is an easy marker like I havent gotten a grade below 80

Great prof, the course is completely online though so you need to keep up with deadlines. I found her to grade assignments a bit harder, but she is responsive, clear and the course is well organized. She also grades very quickly and seems to be on top of everything. She is a good prof and I would recommend her.

There are 11 small quizzes, 1 midterm, 2 assignments, 5 discussions and a final. Overall, it was not bad. It does look like a lot of work however it was quite simple. From the couple interactions, she seems pretty nice. I recommend however you will need to read the textbook and watch videos that are typically 30 mins plus to do well in the class.

Ive only ever had her through online asynchronous so I havent interacted with her. But her courses are structured very well and expectations are clear. The content is not hard but, time consuming. Lots of reading, plus hour long videos. Weekly quizzes, discussions and some written assignments. No trick questions, and grading is fast. Solid choice

Leslie is awesome. Take any class with her and she will make sure you succeed. Yes, there are lots of readings a videos but they are so interesting and they are almost a nice break from other heavier courses.

Mrs. Dawson is a great teacher. I had her online for my first year of university and she made the content very straightforward. Weekly quizzes at the same time every week. Open book as well. Very easygoing and understanding. If you need an extra day to complete something she will give you it. Always answers emails as soon as possible as well.

Dr. Dawson's class was my favourite of the semester, and I would recommend her to any student who wants to take an anthropology class. Her class structure was incredibly organized, and all work was returned within a very reasonable amount of time. There were weekly quizzes but read the assigned readings and the videos, and you will ace the course.

leslie is such a good prof! her grading is fair, mostly because the rubric tells you exactly what shes gonna grade. very flexible and accommodating! make sure you do the review questions, because the exam questions are very similar! overall take her class if its available to u!!!!!

I really enjoyed this course. Major group project involved, midterm, final and a paper. The lecture handouts are exactly what you'll find on exams so read the chapters mentioned and fill in power point info and you'll do great!

Leslie is the best professor I have ever had. I have had her 4 times :) She is very knowledgeable, caring, funny and helpful. She makes amazing rubrics so as long as you follow them you will likely do very well in her class. She also gives great feedback on assignments! PLEASE take a class with Leslie! You will not regret it!

This was an online class so I barely interacted with Leslie but she seemed great to work with over email/ video when I needed her. Assignments/ tests were pretty easy if you prepared and she was an easy marker. Overall, I would recommend

I loved this course, and I love Leslie! It's a lot of work with weekly readings and quizzes, as well as five discussion posts and two essays. But, the material is very interesting and none of the assignments were difficult. The midterm and final were all from the quizzes. Leslie is also very helpful if you have questions and gives great feedback.

I took ANTH 393 and 389 with Leslie and the material is very interesting, and the group projects give an interesting opportunity to delve into a topic of interest. Her exams are based on the review questions, so do those, and you're golden! She's also happy to help students with coursework questions or group project issues.

Her lectures are really funny & engaging, making sure you grasp the concept before leaving the class, & she's got a great sense of humour with lots of stories. Wish I could take her for the rest of anthropology

Leslie is such a chiller. She may have a bummy hip but that doesn't slow her down. She's super funny and her lectures are packed with important information as well as many stories from her professional career. Such a fun prof

She really cares about students and makes that clear as she makes herself available for anyone who is willing to ask for help.

I adore Leslie, I plan on taking as many of her classes as I can. She's an amazing prof who is actually funny and wants you to succeed. I showed up to nearly every class, and I'd recommend others do the same, as there are a few things in her lectures that differ from the textbook. I also almost never used the textbook.

ANTH 497. This class was honestly easy for a 400-level. Your grade is mostly based on the scaffolded paper, which she gives great feedback on as you work on it. Other than that, just do the readings and show up for the seminar, and you'll be golden. Leslie's classes are always fun, and she's very understanding.
