Test almost identical to study guides(easy). His lectures are great.
He is very enthusiastic about the material.
One of the better lecturers I ever came across at OCC. He obviously loves the subject, ant his passion for it is infectious.
The best professor you can get, he makes the subject very easy to understand. If you show up for his class and take good notes you'll pass the class while learning alot.
Very good teacher, excellent narrator and very attractive man. Always looking forward to his classes. One of the best teachers I've ever met.
interesting lectures but his midterms and finals are hard. his lectures can get really slow when people start asking questions. no study guide.
One of the best classes I have ever taken. Just make sure you go to all the classes they are fun and you get a lot of information. If you study the test are not that hard. Ask questions he loves to anwser them.
i thought that i hated poli sci and that i could never understand it but he changed all of that. The study guides made tests easy and he helped with the answers to the study guides. Even at 8 in the morning he kept me awake. Great teacher
Great teacher he knows his stuff and makes it fun to go to class
I LOVED this class. It's like a dream for people who don't like history. He is the funniest guy, his classes are actually FUN, and this is HISTORY. It's like having a comedian teach you, and the info is really useful and you learn alot. I still remember material from his class and i took it over a year ago. If you like humor and usually don't like history classes for being too dry- Take this class, you won't regret it.
To be honest, this guy knows his stuff and hes quite funny. His lectures are too long if you take the once a week class. No outline, no study guides, just him talking for 3 hours straight. You have to take notes on what hes talking about. Take good notes, read the textbook, and study....you'll manage
I definently recommend this teacher. He keeps the subject interesting. For this lecture class, all grades came from 3 tests, total. Take really good notes, and start reading the text as early as possible.
I have no interest in this class and after having only a couple classes with him I still have no interest. I just think he is boring and makes me want to fall asleep in class. No study guide, no direction, just THREE hours of him talking! The class feels like SIX hours! Isnt a bad teacher just boring
Class does seem a little long. No study guide. Can be funny at times. However, after the first test at least 1/2 the class got D's or failed. I think you just REALLY have to pay attention as in tape the lectures and listen to them over and over again. Definitly not easy
No study guide. All talking and not very easy.
Class is very long but very interesting. Test is long #100? You have to read the book and take notes to pass the test. Read early and take notes when you read, it will help you. History is boring in itself but Prof. Douglas' lecture is very captivating. Just LOTS of info. 1st test, lots of people failed. Maybe didn't know what to expect.
like many US history teachers he's a right conservative. Most peepz fail after the first test. You gotta show up for class if you wanna' pass though it's not required persay. No HW!.Long Lectures.Bring some Dayquil or Red Bull. Smart ssa* in every sense of the phrase, but good at what he does. 7/10
My suggestion is for students who are planning to take his class not to take his class. He doesn’t give out study guide.Sometime his lecture mix with his life story of history. After the first test, half of the class got “D,F”. At the end I was forced to drop the class or else I will get a “F”. If you can, try not to take him. Douglas is VERY HARD…
I took the once week class. Most of my classmates thought the structure of his tests were hard. The points came from 3 tests and the tests covered too much material. We all wanted more tests and less material to cover. His lectures were very interesting, but there wasn't too much interaction, there were no assignments and no study guides!
After first test most people failed. I took great notes and studied and only increased 5pts my next exam and then I started recording the lectures and dictating them on paper and asking myself questions and read chapters, it wasnt till the last exam I increased 11 pts and passed. You cant pass without not taking notes or reading chapters
The class is very interesting. He only lectures, but he is a good story teller. He doesn't go over everything in class so reading is a must. Study guide helps a lot.
He is very interesting and fun to listen to. If you do the reading, follow the study guide, and take good notes, you can do very well. I am going to the 1 night a week class, and I always look forward to it.
I love this guy, please, somebody clone him. He makes class fun and interesting. Don't expect hand outs though, your grade reflects on your ability to prepare for class. As he so frequently asks, "Does anybody have any questions?" before beginning his lecture.
he is a great teacher. i usually fall asleep in history but he was so interesting and made the class fun. this was the first time i ever was interested in a history class. i would go home every night and tell everyone what i learned. you have to stay on top of your studying though and make sure that you review your notes DAILY!! great teacher.
A *wonderful* teacher! He is tough for tests but if you do the reading and follow his study guide you'll do okay. He makes History FUN! His lectures are the most interesting I've ever heard- funny and insightful. You retain info better because of how he presents it. Great for chatting with on breaks as well. I plan to take him for another subject.
GREAT TEACHER!! Funny and tells history like a story being told by a friend- you remember what he says! Funny and knowledgable! Tests ARE hard though, but he is worth it. Do the reading (all of it) and learn about the whole topic on each study guide question- not just the little answer to each question- that is they key to passing. Worth it!
If you're the type of person who needs visuals to learn, this class is not for you. He lectures the entire 3 hours, although he does tell history in an interesting way, he often jumps around and it's difficult to organize your notes. Your grade depends on 3 exams, that's it. No Extra credit.
not the best approach to teaching. *MUST* read the textbook, he reinforces it NONE in class MUST take lots of notes in class and study them all. grade based on 3 tests ONLY, so if you get an F on one ur boned. Funny guy but not my style of learning; his test questions were too obscure. MEMORIZE NAMES, he has alot of questions on ppl NO XTR
The best history professor ever in my life! I hated history before, but love it now! He makes History FUN! He is funny and very insightful. He makes it easy to remeber. It was so fun that I could not wait till he comes back after the break. He does not provide organized note, but study guide helps. Strongly recommended!
Amazing teacher, an instant favorite.Very funny and intelligent.Makes class interesting and fun, motivated me to enjoy history.Tests are challenging, remember dates and names. Buy the book, keep your phone off in class, and pay attention. Write plenty of notes, you're never sure what will show up on the test. Great teacher, very friendly/helpful.
He was teaching a history crash course from 1750s-today. The teacher was alright. His grading was based on 3 exams. Simple enough. Maybe a turn off for some but if you put through with some studying(decent notes too) you will do well. Book was used only for things he didn't cover. My final grade was one question off from an A. How brutal...
Took him 2xs and got Fs. Never missed a class mtg/ was punctual. He's a great story teller, but doesn't give x-crdt or hmwk. I was a dummy taking him the 2nd time again. I thought I'd give him a chance, since his stories are facinating to listen to. I still love history, and I learned a lot from his lecture - i think that's what it counts :)
Took Douglas for History 170 and 175 and both courses were fantastic. Great lectures, and if you take notes well enough you never need the textbook. Passed both classes with A's. Wish he taught more classes at OCC. Great professor.
One of my favorite professors. Take his summer class if you're just trying to get units for your AA. The tests are straight from the study guide. He's extremely entertaining and he lectures in a way that you actually remember everything. (And I had the 8:00 class) I got an A and actually enjoyed myself in class. Plus I think he's really cute ;)
Highly recommended for serious history majors or for anyone who has extensive knowledge prior to taking this class. Prof. Douglas is a great lecturer and can keep the students interested. Tests can be very challenging and don't depend on his study guides entirely.
Awesome teacher. Going into the class I was pretty nervous because history is not best but after a few classes I really enjoyed it. He lectures the whole class but makes it very interesting and he is pretty funny. No homework which is great but there is no way to get extra credit. So the only way to get an A is to do well on his test.
I would highly recommend taking history with this professor. He tells stories to get you to learn the material which helped me understand the background of why something happened or what the impact was.
great class with an equally as great professor. the class is kinda difficult but i learned so much from this class and can actually remember it! there's only 3 tests and no HW or extra credit. so be sure to go to class and take good notes and read the book!
great at making it fun and entertaining. he could be a professional standup comedian. made it easy to learn the material. awesome professor!
He's one of the greatest professors that I've ever come across. As long as you attend each class, take good notes, and read the book, you should do just fine. He has a gift for teaching and for making history both fun and interesting. It might not be the easiest class you'll ever take, but it's probably going to be one of the most rewarding.
He is crystal clear when he lectures and very entertaining. Some may say he can be boring but lets face it, it's a history class. His lectures are basically direct answers to test questions (seriously). In this sense, going to class wouldn't be waste of your time even though you don't need to (otherwise, read the book). He's very helpful and cool.
If you're the type of person who needs visuals to learn, this class is not for you. He lectures the entire 3 hours, although he does tell history in an interesting way, he often jumps around and it's difficult to organize your notes. Your grade depends on 3 exams, that's it. No Extra credit.
If you are not an idiot you can do really well in this class. Just go an pay attention and you will get an A. He gives a study guide for the 3 tests so even though those are your only grades you can learn what you need from the study guides.
Took him for 175 because I enjoyed his 170 class so much. Only thing you're graded on is 3 tests and attendance. Show up to every class and take detailed notes and you won't even need the textbook. Best Prof at OCC.
please do not take his class. he will make you fall asleep.
read the book and have fun in class. he is a perfect performer but you need to prepare for the exam or you'll get mad after the first test.
He's a REALLY good teacher and basically his tests came from his class lecture. Just take the main points and good notes. His class is really interesting even though this was his first time teaching a humanities class. 3 tests with a LOT of extra credit. You should be able to get atleast a B if you try. if you do all the EC then you should get an A
He explains history simply, but doesn't simplify it. The class was very interesting. I took his 175 class in the Fall and 170H in the Spring, but I found his class to be more interesting than my honors class. I learned twice as much in his class (than my honors class). I studied for all the tests and earned an A; it was painless and intriguing.
such an amazing person. i never had to read the textbook since he explained all the material so well. there are only three tests and with his study guides, are so easy to ace. i got an easy A without ever buying the book
such a cool guy. i think he is the only professor ive had who has made an entire lecture hall burst in to laughter, while talking about history i might add! reminds me of dana carvy. the entire class is only worth 300pts. no home work or online stuff, just 3 tests each worth 100pts. he gives great study guides too. take this class!
He turns history into a lecture which is essentially equivalent to a good story. Very entertaining and knows all the tidbits of trivia to make the important facts stick. Very friendly too, and occasionally lets class out early if it is a slow day.
Best. Professor. Ever. Don't need the textbook if you write down everything he says. If you miss a class you'll be pretty far behind.
Oh my gosh! his lectures give me goose bumps. what a story teller. so crystal clear. never knew hist could be a fun class before took him. three straghitforward tests. EASY to ace them. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont really care for history at all, but he teaches it like its a story and so its so easy to understand. I felt it was story time every time i came to class. I hate reading so i didnt read for the first test and bombed it. there was only two tests so it screwed me but just be intentional and your good.
Best. Professor. Ever.
He is an alright professor. His teaching style is just standing and talking to class. So you better be a good listener and a quick writer for his class. His class consist of 3 test and thats all so you better not mess up or else your done. All i have to say is good luck to you if you take him.
Class consist of 3 mandatory exams, and NO makeups (regardless of the excuse) The only makeup is a 7page term paper. I got an A in the class and it was easy. Just show up take lecture notes and review the review sheets for each test. The review sheets covered everything that would be on the test and consisted of lecture info and info from the bo
He tells stories to make things interesting the entire class. Although I enjoyed his stories, it was hard to take notes on. He has 3 tests in the class and no homework. His tests are extremely hard and the questions seem to come out of no where. Make sure you study hard! Still, he is a great teacher, I actually learned something.
I LOVED HIM i had no interest in this class before ( i'm a psych major) but now i wish i could take a history class with him again! amazing teacher, hysterical too!
listening to him makes me wonder about his life...I find him interesting. the lectures are like story time...and class always ends right when you are really getting into it...most of everything that is on the test is on the study guides which he posts on black board..it's important to pay attention to those...but, I'm definitely enjoying the class.
Best lecturer on the planet! His stories are so engaging and interesting they leave you on the edge of your seat! The only bad part of class is when it ends! I would LOVE to take him again. Tests are straightforward and he posts study guides weeks ahead. There is plenty of time to prepare and get a solid A. I feel like a history master now! :)
Very interesting and helpful professor. He answers all questions you have and his lectures are stories and he makes history interesting. The tests are somewhat challenging but if you pay attention and study than you should be fine. The one thing about this class I didn't like is that I bought the textbook and didn't open it all semester
3 words? BEST TEACHER EVER!
he's easy ,,, only 3 test and one extra credit paper ! u should take this class!
BEST TEACHER I'VER EVER HAD! He lectures history as an engaging story, it's not dry at all! He's funny and has a great personality. Made me love history! This guy has like changed my life. 3 tests and one paragraph worth 10 points. Take him or you will miss out so much!
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! on the first day of class he said he wanted the students to treat his class like you're reading a book and visualize everything... and the way he lectures, you do! His lectures are amazing, you really learn and remember everything... he covers a lot and moves quickly, but he knows his stuff! ... and he's nice to look at:)
Prof. Douglas is AMAZING. He starts every lecture off by asking if anyone has any questions and gives clear, in-depth answers. The tests aren't hard at all and as long as you study and use the study guides you'll do great in this class.
Leslie is an incredible teacher, has a great way of presenting the material in clear enthusiastic story. If you take good notes, and use the study guides there is minimal reading from the text book needed. It's too bad History 170 is the only class he will be teaching next semester.
He is an amazing professor. He makes history interesting and keeps your attention the entire class. There are 3 multiple choice tests and a one-paragraph paper. No hmwk. He posts study guides, print them out and take them to class, he answers almost all of the questions on there. Always gives students the opportunity to ask questions. TAKE HIM!!!
I'd take him for every subject he teach that are require for my major.. Sadly he's only teaching History. ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS! Go to every class not because of attendance but because his lectures are informative and interesting, pay attention and this class is a breeze!
AMAZING! I loved his class! He is very appreciative of students who ask questions and lets you know as such. His lectures are filled with information and you should be able to get all the info. I took the study guide to class and he gives you plenty of opportunities to ask questions off of it. Highly recommended!
Douglas is by far the best college professor I have ever had for any subject. He doesn't use power points or notes but he is extremely descriptive and clear and is willing to answer any questions you have. He makes history very interesting and tells it like a story-my classmates and I usually left wanting to hear more!
Great teacher, very enthusiastic and great story-teller. He makes history interesting for someone like me who wouldn't normally be interested. Definitely go to every class, he will answer your questions and his lectures are directly related to the tests.
Honestly the most amazing professor ever! His lectures make any subject interesting. I have retained more information from his lecture alone, than any other history class I have taken. Added bonus, incredibly hot! George Clooney status!
Incredible teaching skills. quite entertaining. Extremely engaged with the class and materials. He knows and loves History. Read and pay attention, take the tests, do well. I looked forward to attending class each week, like reading a book you don't want to put down. Thank you for a great class.
Very funny and entertaining. Very clear about what material needs to be studied. EVERYTHING is covered in lectures take very detailed notes. Never thought I would be interested in history until this class, it's the only class that a teaching can continue speaking after the class is over and every single student will wait and listen.
So unkind to students. Funny but rude, not interested in helping students out.....
Although I am taking a 3-hour-long class, it is still entertaining I say. His class isn't boring at all, but I always messed up the tests because I didn't really read the book.... I took very detailed notes for lecture, but still. TEXTBOOK IS REQUIRED if you wanna do well on tests. No powerpoint, No worksheet. Not an easy class..
good teacher laid back. kinda funny don't need the textbook unless you want an A. only take test no homework or class work. study the study guide its basically the test. just take notes and your good
No extra credit, just quizzes, tests and an essay. His lectures are thoroughly entertaining and you find yourself gravitating towards the subject. You do need to read the textbook for a more elaborate understanding of the material but his lectures are on point and he gives out study guides for each test.
The best teacher at OCC I've ever had. He made me love history. I never miss the class because it's so entertaining and interesting. I was wondering for the student who said that he or she doesn't like him, maybe that person is a student in my class that cheated on the exam...?
awwesome teacher! i loved him, he's so funny and entertaining. He always cracks jokes in class and makes lectures interesting. Best teacher I've ever had at OCC. He made me love history. Take him!!!
The best teacher I've ever had at OCC. His class is very entertaining and interesting. He made me love history. He is very helpful, gives all study guide for exams which is very helpful.
LOVED HIS CLASS!! The way he teaches history just makes it sticks. He doesn't hide behind slides or books he walk around and talks to you like it's storytime. He gives study guides and helps you with the essay exam. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TAKE HIM :]
One of my best History teacher so far. His lectures are awesome, but since we have class very early in the morning, so it's a little bit hard to concentrate. I'm an English learner, but I'm still able to get an A eventually so it's not that hard, but you HAVE TO WORK. He has a preview before quiz/test, so you can ask him anything. Highly recommend!
Wow is all I can say. I have gone through my entire life Acing every history test put in front of me and I am always hearing things i already knew. This teacher gave me so much more knowledge on history in the most interesting ways and taught me things I've never heard of. Take him if you want to learn, you gotta work and listen though. DONT DITCH!
FANTASTIC professor! Professor Douglas is a must-take for anyone with even a remote interest in United States history. His lectures were like intricately woven tales of knowledge (corny...but true!). I didn't use the books at all. There were two essays and 3 exams; these are what constitute your grade. I got an A without using the books. MUST TAKE!
I don't care what anyone says this guy is absolutely to worst professor ive had. He is sarcastic, doesn't care for his students, and is poorly organized in his lectures. No book to reference from and his grading is ridiculous. Stay away from this guy, he ruined my GPA with this horrible grade
This guy is great(4hrs history). I would take him again and again. Pretty much he tells a story, all you have to do is go to class and listen to him tell HIS-STORY. I passed with a B. The guy is full of himself though.
If you go to class and take good notes you will do well in this course. He provides study guides with topics/questions that are on the exam. We also had two essays. Essay grading was a little difficult but if you do well on the tests you should be able to get an A in the course. No homework with exception of two essays and don't need to buy book.
Like the perfect teacher role written for a movie- stimulating, entertaining, all the while revealing facts. He'remarkably good at both straightly told information, and captivating stories. I was dreading a lecture class at night & how was I going to sit through it EVERY week? Now, can't miss! Full of himself? Kinda has a right to be.
Douglas is the best history teacher I've ever had! His lectures are straightforward and give a comprehensible understanding of the discussed events. He has a hilarious personality and makes the class enjoyable. Attend the lectures and do your part studying. The class should be easy to pass this way. I would take this class again in a heartbeat.
Take this class! He has a really great way of engaging the entire class all semester long. I have never cared for history classes and this was by far the best class I have taken at OCC. His class is not super easy but he is very clear about everything you need to know for the tests and very helpful in class.
He's great, i loved going to his class. He tells you exactly what you need to know and is a super rad dude.
Great class. Unfolds like a story
The most enjoyable educational experience of my life. Mr. Douglas is an absolutely amazing educator. Hilarious, informative and just downright incredible. I might propose by the time the class is over, and I'm a dude. He is amazing. Take him, any opportunity you have, for any class, just take him.
pathetic teacher only talks about pointless lectures i would like to know the answers to the test please. Test questions are provided but the way his answers choices are given are confusing and not straight to the point so even if you know the answer the one you pick could be wrong
He really loves History and he tells great stories that make the facts stick. Very enjoyable lecturer.
Great job with the lectures. He's funny, knowledgeable and quite frankly this is an outstanding class. You don't NEED the book but you better study the study guides if you don't read it. Leslie knows his stuff. I felt I learned quite a bit from the booklecture combo. I wish more professors were like this. 70% of the study guide is the test.
He is brilliant at keeping his students engaged with the material. Unfortunately, what ever material he doesn't cover, you're on your own. He provides zero visuals with his lectures. He does post a for a study guide that only has about 70% of the test material. If you're a great self learner & want to hear great stories this class is for you.
he is boring and the class horrible. stay away. go look for another teacher. he is hard and sooo complicated.
He was a good teacher. His Lectures were long, but covers exactly what is in the Text Book. The Test was easy as long as you came to class and read the book. He tells the odd joke now and again, but you can tell he loves what he does. Would take again.
He's a funny teacher, and his lectures are mostly entertaining. It's a 3 hour class so expect really long lectures. The class is like a long story and he explains it well.
Incredibly engaging professor. He is the reason I am a history major. Don't listen to the negative comments. These comments are coming from people who are not interesting in real learning. He teaches history how it is meant to be taught. Take his class. You will not regret it.
Leslie is awesome! Take his class if you really want to learn. Encourages you to think independently. Keeps you awake during a long night lecture class. Show up, take notes (his exams are based 75% on notes and 25% on the book). I highly suggest you ask questions while studying for exam, he is very approachable and will clarify things for you.
Douglas is a phenomenal professor/history fanatic. His lectures (despite being 3+ hours in-length) are incredibly entertaining, informative, and honestly, enjoyable. There are 3 exams (100 multiple-choice questions; 100 points each) and 2 writing assignments (1 page maximum; 25 points each). In short, I highly recommend taking a class with him!
Prof. Douglas is incredible! U.S. History was never a subject I thought I would enjoy, but he lectures in a way that keeps you engaged and captivated. You have to put in the work though as the exams are not easy. If you attend the lecture, read your chapters, and do the study guide you should be absolutely fine.
Just finished my second semester with Professor Douglas. Easily the best professor I have ever had. He is so passionate about the subject of history, telling it like one big story. No homework the whole semester. Breaks the class up into thirds with three tests. And also with a research paper, or two essay quizzes(differs each semester). TAKE HIM.
Love his stories. His lectures are very enjoyable and relaxing. Take notes from his stories, do the study guide, and you'll pass. All test questions are from there, but you'll need to read the book to answer some questions since he does not have enough time to cover all of them (so don't waste everyone's time by asking off-topic questions).
I'd never liked History until I took his class. It wasn't easy but got a lot better once I followed his study guide, took notes carefully, and asked questions. His lectures were like stories which were really amazing and inspiring but it was quite hard to follow for the tests. If you actually want to learn, not for grade, definitely take him.
This is a great class. Your grade in this class is based on lectures, reading material from the book and he gives you a study guide that the test are based on. His stories are funny, he is very respectful to the students. He definitely makes learning about history a lot more interesting than other classes where its just power points and such.
The lectures are amazing. They are so interesting and I love how he does not use powerpoints or textbooks. There is no homework and the tests are semi difficult but easy if you go to class. He also makes a lot of jokes and knows a lot of fun facts, overall it is an amazing class and I would take him again in a heartbeat.
Took Mr. Douglas's History 175 class. At first I was skeptical because he does not use power points, he teaches History likes its one big story... which is very unique. I did end up renting the book after I realized this was his approach to teaching. Attendance is a must, and all tests are exactly like the study guide he gives out.
You can tell he's really passionate about the subject and wants you to interested but I'm one of the people that really don't like history and I would be extremely bored in his class. I would study for hours for his tests and end up failing...
I took Professor Douglas for HIST170 and it was my best class so far! I enjoyed coming to class. His lectures are a big story and keeps you wanting to find out more. He respects his students and his jokes and his voices he makes when telling the story keeps it interesting. No homework, but use the study guide for the test.
He just talks and talk and talks. Its pretty boring and your never too sure if he's saying things to get you ready for the test or just things he remembers that goes with the story. I feel like he just talks and expects you remember the information.
Unresponsive to emails; not very friendly one on one; a little snobby; dropped me even though i was present in class making all of my financial aid go away. I would never recommend this teacher to anyone. He doesnt really care about his students. Get ready to take a number!
He seems really rude and doesn't look like he cares. I wish I chose someone else. He just talks and doesn't give you a clear lesson. His study guides have a bunch of questions, BUT he said that he put questions that have nothing to do with the test. I just wish he had a power point or something because it is tiring to just be looking at him.
Honestly just show up to class and take notes. His lecture feels like story time with all of the important people of American history before 1876 come to life. His class makes history that much more interesting and easy going.
Not so great. This teacher isn't for you if you are more of a visual learner and need a PowerPoint. His class is lecture heavy and he just goes on and on. It's hard to take notes because he will go off on different tangents. I never listened to his lectures and only read the book! Im an "A" student and ended up with a B in the class.
By far the best class I've taken. He really made me care about coming to class and he made learning the material interesting rather than a chore. No slides to take notes off of though, so if you're a visual learner, heads up. Just him talking about history and cracking jokes! We just had three big multiple choice tests and one short answer test.
This class grade is made up solely by 3 tests. If you miss his lectures you will not do well, but dont worry, the way he gives his lectures makes the topics very interesting
I like how this Prof is so passionate about his subject that it made coming to class fun, lectures like hes telling a story ;) Class is straight forward:come to class & take notes, Ttxbk req for stdy guide or use Google. Total of 3 tests+1written. He takes role so dont be late( i was but he never told me anything, but other people he did so idk)
He's amazing, but his way of teaching might be difficult for some. He does not use any kind of ppt or write on the board, just sits there and tells you the historical events and the stories behind them. Very interesting stories, however, it can get boring at times. Only 3 major tests so do well on them or else your grade will be damaged.
Attend lectures, take notes, do study guide. Don't wait until the last minute to do it-easy, but long. Study guide is based on lecture. Funny, witty, inspiring professor who lectures history like its a story. I usually prefer powerpoints, but it wasn't needed because he was just that good. He can be sarcastic, so beware if you don't like sarcasm.
He is a great teacher, but if you are more of a visual learner like myself this class is not for you. He gives great lectures with no power points or some sort of writing on the board. Its important for you to show up if you want to pass. Only 3 major test and 1 written.
I loved this class. Unlike classes today, he doesn't rely on power point and actually lectures. Knows what he's talking about and makes it easy and fun to learn the information. Provides study guide for all 3 test + 1 written. Participation is not forced which is great for those who have trouble speaking. Over all just amazing I learned to much!
This was one of my favorite classes and almost made me want to be a history major. There is no homework just lectures so you have to attend class. He gives a study guide with a lot of questions but most of them he goes over in class. His lectures he describes as "telling a story." Once the material is tested on, it will not be tested again.
