Why is this man allowed to teach in a University. Interesting material but worst lectures EVER!
He really understood what he was talking about. Even though class was boring on some days, I realized that I actually learned quite a bit.
excellent prof. i have been a student here for 6 years and he is the most CLEAR prof ever. gives examples for everything so it makes sense, he is super smart. his notes are so thorough that i recommend NOT buying the text. you learn everything from the lectures, so make sure you go to class!
Most clear prof in the University. Writes his notes on the board for 10 mins at the start of class.
leslie's class is easy. he guaranteed a passing grade to anyone who completed the assignments and wrote the final.
Brilliant man, knows his stuff. He seems really shy, though, and almost afraid of the class. Would often catch him lecturing with his eyes closed, or facing the board. Be nice to him, do your work, come to class, and you can't go wrong.
horrible class. all he does is tell u whats important to read in the text books and teaches nothing. his lectures are all ramblings and his notes are just random words all over the board. if u have a choice don't take his class.
i absolutely love that he writes the lecture outline on the board before he starts every class, very clear view of class to come...Great prof, seems shy when he shouldnt be, he's awesome!
the class started off TERRIBLE, but probably because this was the first time he had taught it. the textbooks were useless (dont buy them) but he gave an exam outline for the final which was incredibly helpful. the lectures were kind of all over the place, but he had interesting ideas. took a different approach to the idea of deviance.
Very Clear Prof....knows alot about diff cultures etc....take a class from him if you want a high essay mark and easy exams to write
Really, really unclear. Gave an outline for the final which was helpful but he still marked them really hard with no clear reason about what was wrong. Not very helpful either. The notes consisted of random words he wrote on the board and then circled and underlined, it didn't make any sense.
do not ever take a class from this guy. wait till next year and hope that another prof has the class. he is terrible beyond belief, i can't believe the university actually hired him, or for that matter continues to pay him. he is very unclear and all he does is read the text book every class if you take notes you are just copying out the text book.
absolutely terrible. nothing good to say. gave an outline which you would think would help. apparently what he said he put on the outline is not what he wanted you to write about on the final. not clear about anything. notes consisted of random shapes and words on the board. do not take a class from him.
Not a very good prof, sort of confusing actually. Looks like he might have a nervous breakdown in front of the class. Nice guy though.
Really nice guy. He seems a little awkward and different at first but he is cool. WARNING! He marks the midterm and paper really easily, The final is different. Unless you state every detail he mentioned in class and give very descriptive examples (maybe even relating to your own experiences) you will fail. Our class average for the final was 42
Worst prof ever, He gave me a 83 on the mid-term and a 75 on the final and my final mark was a 65. If it wasn't for his TA everyone would have failed the class. My attendance was good but he punished the class on the final for low attendance.
Lectures were unstructured, but varied and interesting. It's possible to do well in this class with effort and good attendance, since most of the material comes from the lectures. Tests/Exam/Assignments are reasonable and graded fairly. Prof. Ehrlich may seem like a really serious person, but he will give you marks for effort demonstrated.
The most boring class I've ever taken. Reads directly from the Textbook in class, gets numerous facts wrong, and tests only gauge how well you can memorize his notes, which he goes through too quickly to properly record. That being said, super easy class, should have skipped all but the reviews where he gives you the answers to the test questions
If you attend class you should do fine as largely you are expected to repeat what he writes. He is extremely helpful but on the first day of class he attempted to tell students what they could and could not write on their teacher evaluation forms. Overall he is honest about what you get on the first day of class.
Extremely boring class, but you need his notes for exams so you need to sit through it. He teaches from a text that is nearly 15 years old, and was constantly making statements that were outdated or questionable - and I was uncomfortable by several of his comments that seemed very inappropriate.
i love this proff, hes interesting and fun! i wish he would teach more classes.
Easy Class. Not good teacher. Mandatory to show up to class (doesn't post notes on paws) Don't bother reading the textbook, he paraphrases it in his notes. Inconsistent in his markings. Compared 1st midterm with friends and many of the questions I had gotten wrong they had gotten correct and we had SAME answer. Overall BAD prof.
Easiest class ever. Didn't buy the textbook and didn't need it. On the midterm he told us everything exactly that was going to be on the test. Shouldn't have even bothered with the lectures.
Nice prof. A bit strange, seems uncomfortable for the most part. Super easy tests - minimal textbook use - Just need to go to class so you know what's up. I'd take another one of his classes.
Super straight forward in 112! The lectures were always done early and interesting. Doesn't add any fluff, and he gives a review that doesn't involve any work on your part. Just memorize the very clear and short review. Need to go to class because notes not onine, but gives lots of time to write down.
Horrible teacher, easy grade. Midterm and Final material is all outlined on a review that is covered in class a few days prior to exams, this may be the only time your need to attend. Extremely easy marker on term papers. Class is very boring, no notes are posted and Leslie is outdated and ignorant in many areas of the subject.
STAY AWAY. This guy is interested in politics, NOT sociology. The book isn't a textbook, it's a political science book that has different professors with Phd's writing essays on what they think ethnicity is. Almost impossible to decipher. His final is awful, as all he teaches is a mixture of history and politics. Soiology is NOT either. BEWARE!!!!
Not my worst class. Takes history & political approach to all lectures. Doesn't look at the social side in most cases. Midterm was broad and easy. Final was specific and difficult. Easy to pass, difficult to get a high mark.
boring professor
Easiest prof ever. Do not need to attend class, he posts everything, including the review. exams are fill in the blank, MC and true false. Gives a review, with the important parts in bold. Easy term paper. Social awkward. I don't agree with his teaching, but hands down the easiest class I have ever taken.
Such a boring class! But he is the easiest marker I have ever had. He seemed very uncomfortable with the class and teaching in general but if your not the type to attend class, take one of his! Your average will increase drastically!
Not the most interesting prof to listen to, but topics are interesting if you like sociology and politics. He marks really easy, but beware; when I was in his class he marked TOO easy and our final marks were curved down by over 10%. What would have been my highest mark ended up being my lowest.
Avoid this prof if possible. Very inconsistent with marking. Outright told me that university is about memorizing and that he's already been put on leave once. Exams are highly subjective, yet he marks very easy on essays. Classes are very frustrating if you do attend - due to wondering how he is still a prof!
Terrible, you have to write exactly what he says or he will dock you marks. Literally. If you miss 2 words that are apparently "key points" but are actually just examples you wont be able to get full marks. To get a good mark you have to spit back what he says. Thats not learning!
Boring. He just reads off of the slides. He posts all notes. Not necessary to come to class. Fair marker. Easy credit.
Absolutely awful prof! The worst prof I will ever have (Can't be any worse). His exams were easy but the average was much higher than the department standard so it was lowered by a lot! It was also understated here just how boring he is! I don't think I saw his eyes once when he was speaking - reads EVERYTHING straight off notes. Avoid at all costs
He is the most godawful prof I've ever had. I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy. He simply reads off powerpoints and his slides are taken directly from the textbook. SO BORING. He just expects you to memorize exactly what he says. I wish I would have dropped the class. Such a waste of time and money.
God awful "prof" shows up 4-5 mins late every day and closes the door behind him (he's allowed to be late, but nobody else is) NOT A TEACHER: All he does is stand there and read powerpoints, completely useless. Sent out midterm study material 3.5 days before the midterm, and then 90% of the midterm was on other topics.Avoid this "teacher"..
Bad prof. Just avoid him... okay?
One of the worst profs ever. Final was out of 40 marks and the questions were so irrelevant to what was discussed in class. He was disappointed in the class average, definitely reflected on his teaching!! marked fair on research paper. Wouldnt recommend.
Wasn't really necessary to attend class. He never seemed to enjoy his job, quite impolite to students, and his final very tough and specific. AVOID if you care about having good marks.
Very helpful and kindness
I personally really enjoyed Professor Ehrlich's class. He wants you to succeed- Takes time outside of class for appointments if you need clarification on paper/topics. Easy marker! Even reviews what slides will be tested! Not the most interesting lecturer but all around nice guy and good prof! I'd take another class of his for sure!!!
He is a pretty boring lecturer but not unbearable. He marks pretty easy on the paper but the tests are hard. You really have to work hard to get a good mark.
Had him as my professor for Sociology 234: Sociology of Law and one thing that definitely stood out for me was that he didn't have any due dates (to an extent). I handed in a 10-page paper on the last day of class. He also provided a list of every specific definition we need to know for the midterm and final exam. Knew exactly what to study for.
Easy marker, but horribly boring. I've taken a number of classes from him and he expands on his own interests in all of them regardless of what the course topic is.
Interesting guy who cares about your academic success. I've also taken Soc 111 & Soc 234 with him. Take Soc 232 on the Web with him, it is well organized, easy to follow along, and minor online group work. He seems to prefer essay questions on midtermsfinals for his upper year courses, but multiple choice for Soc 111
I'm in his criminology class. He drags on topics way too long. His voice drones and he is hard to listen to after a while. The Class itself is interesting, but I find him very boring
Had him for the Sociology of Health + Illness and enjoyed it. 1 midterm, 1 paper (8-10 pages), and the final. Classes were closely related to the textbook readings, but I still found the lectures to be interesting. Would take again (if that were possible)! :-)
Interesting material, but the lectures are long and dry. Currently this course is only offered as a three hour night class. It can be painful when he lectures for the entire three hours, but the timeslot also allowed him to show very interesting videos toward the end of the course. Take this course only if you have prior interest in the subject.
It was a night class so by nature the lectures are long. Leslie's teaching style is very introverted. He's soft-spoken but he points that out at the beginning of the term. Posts lecture notes online and gives out a Midterm Reading List and Final Reading List with the themes of the questions that will be tested on which guarantees a good mark.
Lectures are not the most fun but t are super straightforward. I skipped most of the classes and barely studied. Still did just fine. Marks papers a tad harsh though.
I rarely went to class because he just read from the slides, which were paragraphs from the text, and he was a very boring lecturer. He is aware he is boring and told us to think of it as training for future jobs where we have to sit at boring meetings. He is very nice and super helpful and gives out a reading list for exams. Would take again.
If you try on the paper you will recieve an above 85. I've taken three classes with him and received above 85 on each paper. Attendance is not mandatory, he gives a reading list of exactly what you need to know for the midterm and final, study all that and you will do fine. Easy mark, easy credit, defiantly recommend if you want to boost gpa
Honestly I have no idea how this man is allowed to teach. The lectures are just him standing and reading notes off slides made from the textbook. For me the class seemed very lazily constructed as it was only a midterm and final even though most Soc classes have a paper, which he admitted to and said that he just didn't do it. Avoid at all costs.
His lectures are pretty boring and hardly anyone comes. Marked midterm easy but marked hard on final. I don't recommend to take this class from him.
Although he did read off the slides for every lecture, he is not as bad as everyone puts him out to be. He gives out the reading lists for the midterm and final, and marks easy on both. If you want a laid back course where you don't have to go to class as it is all online but you still want to pass, then I recommend this class!
He just reads off of his slides every lecture. You really don't need to come to class because he rarely adds anything on top of what's written.
He posts all his powerpoints online, so I barely went to class and just read the textbook and his powerpoints instead. He reads word for word and is very monotone. The only grades we had were from the midterm and final which both had long answer questions. This is an easy credit, just make sure to read the definitions and understand the concepts
Despite the lectures being boring, i really enjoyed his classes! He gives reading list before exams and does a review class where he tells you exactly what you need to study, which was super helpful! Marks were based off 2 midterms and a final! All very easy! Definitely would take another class from him in the future!
True he reads off his slides but for a second year sociology class it's fine what more are you looking for? Easy credit, check. Review of exactly what's on the midterm and final, check. Don't have to show up for all (or any) classes to get a good mark, check. It is what it is, he is history focused and shows good videos, take the class.
This class was super boring. Easy to get a decent mark, but impossible to do really well (he actually said he doesn't give out 90's). Tells you exactly what to read and study, but still won't give high marks.. not sure what else he was looking for on exams.
Unless you write things exactly how he has them depicted in his own notes you will get a failing grade. I wrote wonderful tests and papers while understanding every spec of information, and yet, only received a measly 67 percent over all. Avoid at all costs if you want good grades.
Leslie is an awful prof. He stands at the front, reads directly from the slides and doesn't look up the whole class. He also clears his throat into the microphone every two minutes for the whole class. He also marks hard on his midterms. If you forget to mention any point that he feels is important expect to get a poor mark. Avoid at all costs!
Took this class by correspondence and loved it! There was 8 assignments/essays that were pretty easy to do and if you try you can get a great mark. He gave the questions that were on the final exam beforehand.. excellent prof! Would take again. Great for correspondence classes!
I've never slept through so many classes in my life! Be prepared to be disappointed in the class the first day. Grades you harshly and gives no feedback to improve.
It's true that he is incredibly boring to listen to but easiest grade ever for a second year sociology class! He posts all the slides, tells you exactly what is on the midterm and final, and the paper was not hard either. I took a summer class with him and it was the easiest mark I've gotten throughout my degree.
Don't get me wrong, his class is quite difficult. It is, however, the most interesting and rewarding SOC class ive taken. Getting the opportunity to learn how to make my own research design was great, and he gave me awesome feedback as to how to make it better.
Although he is very monotone, he is a great prof. Lectures are boring, but if you're listening they are very full of information as Leslie has A LOT of knowledge! I would take his class again!
He reads off the slides, every time i go to class i want to die. your time is better spent at the library studying from the textbook because all of the info, word for word, is on the slides and in your text. Even my academic advisor said going to class was useless. He is very endearing though and a good guy, ily Leslie <3
He's terrible at teaching, he tends to read of powerpoints and stare at the floor. I'd say attendance isn't mandatory, just read the textbook and powerpoints and you'll be okay. He won't give you 90s, but he graded my friends and I fairly in my opinion, which is alright with me. Pretty easy class to get a 70-80 out of, I'd take again for the grade.
He is the worst professor I have ever had. His exam questions are not hard but his marking is awful. His teaching is garbage and super simple; "sociology for and taught by a dummy" but he expects elaborate answers that even he has to look into a textbook for because he doesn't know his material. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Skipped most classes and still passed but the 4 days I did go to class were terrible. He's boring and uninterested in his own lectures. I learnt nothing from him. He says he doesn't look at student evaluations that call him boring. He doesn't know what the word transgender means (at all) which seems odds for a Soc prof. Just plain terrible.
maybe he's trying but he's not doing a very good job of it. seems like an alright person but a bad prof.
His lectures are not needed at all. He posts the powerpoint slides on blackboard and he reads strictly off them. The textbook is not needed but can be helpful as he does gives readings based off the slides. For the test reviews, he will show you exactly what you need to know and what he will be testing on.
Would not suggest taking any classes from Leslie. He is extremely dry and boring. He is hard and awkward to talk to and ask questions of. He is easily stressed and grumpy.
Lectures are very dry, he reads aloud from his slides and also posts them online so there isn't much incentive to show up. However, his notes/slides are extremely easy to follow and learn, and his test questions are based off them which make taking tests VERY easy. However, he doesn't give any feedback other than a solitary number grade.
Leslie is a good prof, His lectures are very dry and can be boring.. but despite that his lectures are very helpful. I enjoyed going to class, leslie is full of good information and examples that can be used towards midterms and finals! Would take a class with him again!
If you hate technology and capitalism this is the class for you. Easy questions on midterms, but marks pretty tough. He tells you what you need to review for midterms and finals which is nice.
Would definitely NOT recommend. No feedback on tests, or what you can improve on. Reads directly off lecture notes with no added information. Better of skipping the class and reading the textbook. Tough grader, if you miss a small concept or examples don't match his, he will deduct marks. Clears his throat into the mic.
He does post slides that contain most of the information that you will be tested on but he does point out things or give good examples in class that do not show up on the slides so it is helpful to go to class. He does speak quite though so it is a good idea to sit near the front of the class. Also gives out very good outlines for tests.
Quite boring lectures. Tests are essay based, though contain no feedback. My grade in his class was a full 9% below my average, despite the content being the easiest. Perhaps an upper-year class would be better, but from my experience, poor quality prof.
Coughs into microphone, brings up robots every class, bad with technology, marks tough (has to be exactly what he said), gives zero feedback, the list of reasons why he is a terrible prof goes on... Just all around terrible, told us outright that he wasn't going for any teaching awards and that he was going to do the minimal to teach us.
Lecture slides tell you everything you need to know. Attendance isn't mandatory. Textbook is pretty helpful if you aren't understanding the content. Kind of strange but he is friendly enough to ask questions to. Study the slides and you will do OK on the midterms and final but don't expect anything above an 80%. He likes very specific answers.
I took Ehrlich for a 100 level SOC in the past, in-person, and he's not a very charismatic professor. BUT, he grades fairly, and I left that class having learned. So I took him again for SOC232 online summer class. Once again, he isn't the funniest or most engaging person, but he gives good grades and cuts you a LOT of slack. Worth taking him!
Leslie is the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures are dull and reads directly off his powerpoint. He wants textbook answers for his midterm, gives little chance to improve your mark if you don't do well on a test, and gives NO feedback for his low marks. My mark is a full 30% lower than my other classes even though I work just as hard.
Leslie speaks in a very monotone voice and goes off topic several times during class. He will spend about five minutes per slide listing things in categories. His midterms expect exact answers and you will do poorly even if you know the material. My mark in this class is 35% lower than my other classes. I would advise taking a different prof.
He is very passionate about what he is teaching. Two midterms and a final, very reasonable questions. He also gives a review of exactly what to expect on the midterms, therefore if you actually study you will get a reasonable grade. He is a tough grader, but after meeting with him with regards to my mark he bumped me up 7%. I would recommend him!
If you're going to take his class make sure to bring a pillow and blanket.
Lectures aren't mandatory but can provide useful information if attending. He marks exam hard but if you meet with him you are able to discuss your answers and increase your mark potentially, this was the case for me. He tells you exactly what you need to study for the exam and his questions aren't very difficult. I liked this professor alot.
His lectures are pretty boring but the class is easy, show up and you have no problem. He is very monotone and reads off the slides. He gives a great outline of what to study for the midterm and final. One paper and was an easy marker.
Extremely boring lectures, which you don't have to attend as he posts all his powerpoints. Ehrlich is a horrible presenter, he mostly just reads off of his slides. A tough grader - expects answers to be super specific. Exams are long anwer but he gives you a variety of questions and you only have to answer some.
The lectures and study material are boring as sin, making the exams difficult to study for. With 2 midterms and a 40% final one slip up can easily cost you your grade. Test structure is long answer only, some are easy but others can be very unclear. He is available outside of class to take another look at an exam and may change your grade.
Really tough grader, only two midterms, and a final. No assignments
You can pass EASILY just by attending the review classes. Read and understand the material he gives on reviews and you will easily pass! Its really not rocket science. Sociology is not hard. Choose to understand over being entertained.
Lectures are very easy to follow, 2 midterms and a final, tough grader on the first midterm but if you approach him outside of class to see what he expects then grading is very reasonable for your answers. No reason you cannot receive over an 80%.
I found his teaching to be dry. He has no expression in his voice, and it is extremely difficult to keep your attention on the material. He does share the slides for each class, but unfortunately the information is directly from the textbooks. He then reads the slides in class. You can either show up or read and still pass.
You do not have to go to class becasue he reads off the slides and posts them. I tried really hard to enjoy lectures but they were very dry. He is passionate and knowledgable but does not show it well.
if you generally find interest in the way society works u would enjoy his class. his lectures can be boring/ slow, but the testing is very clear. he literally gives you a review of what a few topics are and then to apply your knowledge.. easy to get a good grade, don't have to show up to class.
He is very very monotone. He will basically only read the slides, which he posts online anyways. Attending this class is basically pointless as you do not get any extra information than you can already access online. He assigns A LOT of reading, it is honestly kind of ridiculous considering what he discusses in class. Would not reccomend
He is very passionate and knowledgable of the subject. He provided a reading list and example questions before each exam so we knew what we were expected to know. He was very monotone, and could get off topic, but all of the information needed for the course was online (as he read off of the slides that he posted to blackboard)
Its true that he reads solely off his slides but hes very knowledgeable and informed about what he teaches. Grading criteria is clear and he tells you exactly what to study for. You dont really need to go to class since everything is posted online. Only complaint is that he is a bit socially awkward if you meet to talk with him. But great prof
Take another prof, even if his fits better in your schedule. His lectures are dreadful. He marks incredibly hard and gives you no feedback whatsoever. In my experience, he was unwilling to meet me to in person to discuss the midterms until multiple students had asked. I had to skip my next class because it was the only time he was willing to meet.
To give him some credit, this was the first online class he taught. He's clearly knowledgeable in his field, but he's way too much of a tough grader considering the material we learn off of is literally just the textbook. His tests are fair, but there were times where I deeply regretted taking his class.
Dr. Ehrlich is a nice guy, but he isn't the best prof. In online format, all we do are reading textbooks, do weekly quizzes & two heavy assignments. There is no recorded lecture, so you basically teach yourself. The weekly quizzes help as well as the mock quizzes. But the assignments are so difficult and there isn't even a clear grading criteria.
I find Leslie tolerable, though I would not say personable! He is a good prof overall. I have taken 2 courses with him that both consisted of 2 essays, a midterm and a final. He is a pretty easy prof. So if you can get past the monotone personality, i'd say go for it! FYI- don't expect to get your grades quickly, he does take quite long to mark.
This was one of the most frustrating classes Ive taken. Im not fan of these intro-level classes, I took Soc 112 online as well and it was still a bit better. The most annoying part is that you get no feedback on assignments. He never replies to emails which makes it even harder to know how to do better or what you did wrong!
Dude gives zero feedback but asks for a crazy amount of writing. There's almost no information in the modules, so just read the textbook and call it a day. The essays in a 200 level SOC class asking for a minimum of 10 references is just strange. It's like the guy has zero awareness about the rest of the department.
I do NOT recommend taking this class! There are no lectures and you have to read the entire textbook along with watching all the videos. You practically teach yourself. There were weekly quizzes (10%), 1 midterm (20%), 2 assignments (20% x 2) and a final (30%). Most did not pass the midterm. Final is an essay and short answer questions.
I taught myself from the textbook b/c there were no lecture videos or zoom meetings, and a lot of students failed the midterm (avg was 50%). Takes a long time to answer emails and did not provide helpful feedback. This class was terrible; there was literally no point in having a prof b/c he did almost nothing to teach, instruct, or help students.
Very long modules with no textbook for the class just strictly reading about 2 hours worth of reading on a computer screen. Assignments are very heavy and unclear of exactly what he wants. Honestly did not learn anything from this class and it was very draining. Also have not gotten any emails from him regarding the class expect for the first day.
Lectures were informational, if you pay attention and take notes you'll do well. Had 2 short essays; if you follow criteria and do your research, again, you'll do well.
Despite the negative claims, Leslie is one of the best profs I've had. I've taken 3 courses from him. He tells you exactly what to study. Show up for midterm review before exams and he will show you absolutely exactly what to study. You'll get 90s if you know it and take that time. He will always meet with students and help. He is wonderful.
lectures were very bland and not engaging what-so-ever
Just extremely boring.
I would not recommend this guy. Reads off the slides, doesn't seem to teach much, which means showing up to class is optional. Make sure you read the required readings as the assignments can be easy if you've done the readings. You will basically end up teaching yourself so be prepared for that.
-Full online asynchronous course -Took multiple days to respond to emails -Provided vague assignment outlines -All assignments are due by the final exam -Seemed like an okay guy but not a stand out prof by any means
Took a month to mark midterm and assignments. Very vague instructions for assignments and what she expects. Takes forever to answer emails and doesn't even help. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
None of the assignments had any grading criteria, and the instructions were really vague. The professor also took a long time to grade assignments (the midterm took over a month to grade). I wouldn't recommend taking this.
I think this professor is only capable of giving one or two grades to all students in their class. Also incredibly absent and poor response times
This class was super boring, and his assignments were very vague with explanation. He didn't provide feedback on anything that was graded. Nice guy, but don't think I'd take a class with him again.
Read the textbook. It will be your best friend for the midterm and final. Seems like a nice guy just boring during class and powerpoints are disorganized. Have to write a lot for the exams and the lectures are useless. Marking seems to be inconsistent and there's no feedback or grading criteria for the assignments. Would not take him again.
No grading criteria at all. Assignments are super vague, takes forever to respond to emails (if you're even lucky enough to get a response). Does not provide any feedback or comments whatsoever on any assignments. No rubric to follow either. Would not recommend, unless you're okay with getting the same grade regardless of how much effort you put in
Responses to emails had less than 10 words each and not very pleasant to receive. Assignments are incredibly unclear but also so obvious that it's really difficult to add more information or your own perspective because they are really closed or really vague questions, sometimes somehow both. His grading seems really random.
Pros: -Free textbook -Can be done online -Easy to understand material Cons: -He struggles with technology -Tough Grader -Zero feedback -Misunderstands Questions -Uninterested in connecting with students -Outdated materials -"grad school level" question in assignment 1 -Irrelevant readings Give loads of examples in anything you do!!!
Worst professor ever, this professor should be reported. He does not give feed back and no rubrics for assignments. You will not get a high mark in his class. He is very strict at marking and he does not communicate with the students. Not qualify to be a professor at Usask!
While Dr. Ehrlich can sometimes ignore questions during class time, his stories about his life proved to be more than endearing enough to make the lectures manageable. He provided interesting examples of the sociological theories provided in the course material. No late penalties was a very nice added bonus of being in the class. 3.5/5.
Genuinely enjoyed his class, and would definitely recommend him as a prof. He made my first university class an enjoyable experience and I appreciated him for being flexible and understanding. (heavy lecture style class though).
The course can be a bit dry, but staying on top of the textbook and engaging during lectures makes a difference. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep - highly recommend giving it a try.
Awesome Prof! would 100% take any of his classes again. Simple lectures and easy exams as long as you actually do the reading/read his lecture notes you'll do great. Funny guy, clear grading criteria, clear instructions on exams/essays.
Personally would not take again. Not very helpful when contacting them since response times varied, waited almost a week for a single question. Be prepared to have a very low grade and possibly fail as a few of us did this year.
Did not give much constructive feedback, even when requested.
Dr. Ehrlich, is an amazing prof. I have taken him a few times and each time my experience was better than before. His lecture slides are straightforward and the midterm, exam and essay assignments are always straightforward. If you have gone through the lecture slides for his class you are fine. Wish I could get a clear rubric grading of my work.
