She is possibly the worst teacher I have ever had, expectations are unrealistic!
NOT TOO HARD, BUT VERY UNCLEAR, BOARING!!!!!
When asking questions, her answers are unclear. However, her exams composed mostly of lecture. She posts powerpoints of lecture on blackboard. Exams are very similar the department final.
she speaks in ebonics like she's from compton or something. she is unclear but the class is a bit hard to teach i think. she would not be my first choice but she isn't as bad as the other person said..
I actually liked her. We didn't have to do any presentations but there was a 16-page paper due at the end of the semester. Her lectures are quite boring but her study guides before the tests are good.
I would take her class again if needed. She is not difficult. However she is unclear on what is expected for her class project.
class, itself is difficult & a ton of work. She knows the material, but has difficulty explaining it. poor speech She is helpful with the major research paper by giving mini-deadlines. She is also helpful in reviewing paper for you prior to finalturnin
She was very boring...She does not speak English very well which makes it difficult to understand her. Her test are very hard because they are multiple choices but the answers usually vary depending on one word. I would avoid taking her at all costs.
grier is okay, not the bst but okay. her test are wierd because you can defend your answer, however her study guides are cool because as long as you write evrything from the study guide on your 3 x 5 that she lets you use, you'll be good
Very confusing teacher...does not explain very well
she didn't explain things well at all. Tests extremely hard and too much to study for.
I have a little compassion for her since this material is very dry, but we had another teacher sub one day, Oliver, and she was much better. Grier is a very nice teacher, though, and very helpful. She was very good about keeping us posted and was very organized
This class gets a bad rap and they say its the hardest one. Her lectures were super boring and she wasn't very clear, sometimes a bit confusing. If you read the book and go to the study sessions, you will get an A. Lecture and going to class did nothing for me. Read the book and you will do fine.
I was really excited to take this class but it was very disappointing. This class was easy but she is VERY unclear when she lectures. I basically taught myself by reading the book. Although she is a little confusing she is nice. There is one big term project and 3 test. Attendance and participation is only worth 3% of your grade.
I don't think she is as bad as everyone says...i thought it was an easy A...you do have to read the book....if you read the book you will get an A on every test....plus she offers a lot of extra credit all semester...enough extra credit to increase your grade by a whole letter.
The class itself is not as hard as she makes it because is is sooo unclear... She needs to use proper English instead of ebonics and learn some correct grammer since she is a PhD.. I was really looking forward to the class and was REALLY disappointed. Bad experience,,, if you can at all, avoid her classes..
Grier speaks English clearly. That comment was completely **** & unwarranted. Grier expects her students to read & come to class prepared, if you don't read class won't be that engaging. She helps clarify concepts in the book, but does not teach from the book directly. This is college. We all can read! This class is pretty easy if you try.
She's not the best instructor. She really knows all her stuff but she doesn't know how to present it to a class well. You need to read the book and go to class!! Her study guides for her exams are rubbish, they don't help you at all, but if you read & attend class you'll manage. I got an A on all tests & got an A as the final grade.

Hard class! Many assignments, yet her exams are directly from the book. She has one big project which is time consuming. Got a B in class!
Dr. Grier is an ok professor. She is not good or bad. The class was boring but you have to go to lecture and lab. The dept final is not as hard as people make is out to be. Her tests are tough but she allows an index card with notes. Overall ok class.
Regret taking her class. Her explanations aren't clear, her handouts either, she hates questions, she makes tricky exams, she misleads students. Even though she said the final exam was going to be mostly multiple choice, the exam was mostly essay questions. She enjoys bullying vulnerable students. Don't risk your GPA taking her classes.
I have been takinG this class for two weeks and have decided to drop it becuase just by these two weeks i can tell she is not goinG to do anything for me. i love this topic, and do not want a bad professor to ruin it for me. Sounds like she knows what she is talking about, but really has no expierence teaching a class, or how to present material
I learned alot!
Awesome professor
complete idiot. She randomly assigns point values, ppt's are NOT helpful, isn't clear on what she wants, never returns papers, I regret taking this class & this teacher. HORRIBLE. I do not recommend her. She's a tard! Classes are boring, her voice is annoying, RUN!
Best professor I ever had!
This was one of the best classes I ever had.
Worst professor ever. She doesn't explain the assignments and her powerpoints are confusing. Her grading system is also way off.
Great class, especially if you work with kids.
Grier is a confusing stupid teacher. Too many assignments and they all require A LOT of work for little points. Instructions are unclear and lengthy. She doesn't seem to know what she's talking about. She's unhelpful and shouldn't be teaching. Aviod ALL her classes.
A lot of the class is online but I enjoyed this class. If you plan to teach, take her.
She's a nice person but very boring. She made a 3 hour class seem like it was 5 hours. The class was easy (a lot of it common sense) but her powerpoints are confusing-just a bunch of words with no meaning. She makes you do pointless group work every class and it's a waste of time. I don't think I learned one important thing at all in this class
She's not a terrible teacher, she is a very intelligent person. I was only frustrated because we had to complete 60 hours of internship on top of the LARGE workload she had on us. Assignments aren't hard at all, they just take up alot of time
Good teacher, but a lot of assignments. Online quizzes, 2 exams. Online blogs can be confusing, but overall a pretty good class. Attendance is a must and some test questions refer to inclass discussions. Grades fairly easy, except the final.
I learned a great deal this summer about the teaching profession. I would recommend her.
Took the hybrid class (mostly online). Takes exams right off the study guides. Class is a lot of work so you must be willing to do it. Easy A for me, but you need to be a good willing student. Responds back to emails which finally a professor that does!
I thought her hybrid class was great. We met six times in class--all of the rest of the meetings were online. The activities were very easy, but her online lessons were very thorough and helpful.
Took online summer course. A TON of assignment and 2 online meetings. Her exams are tough but allows two attempts. She is VERY helpful if you have questions, I recommend taking her
I took the full semester, completely online class and it was so easy. You don't even need to buy the book. She puts everything you need to know into the modules you have to do. There may be a few questions that are from just the book but not enough to lose an A on the exams..plus she allows two attempts on them.
The online 315 class was great. Everything was well organized and explained. I would take another class with her.
Taking this class online, she replied to email very fast. Easy to reach. Her online lessons are very useful for a test and a paper. She gives clear instruction. As long as you do the works, you should get a good grade.
Very easy course, great way to fulfill GE requirement. For the most part she gives clear instructions-make sure you get clarification on directions for term paper. Offers office hours on main campus. Test are easy and completely based from the online lectures and text. 1-2 hours of studying necessary. THE EASIEST ONLINE CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN.
This class was relatively easy for an online course. Weekly homework assignment that take about 1-2 hours. She responds to emails pretty quickly and gives plenty of time to work on project. I would recommend this course.
Very informative class. Relatively easy, but the grading scale/system is quite complex. There is a lot of work for participation points, but the majority of your grade is in the paper and the exams.
Easy. Some busy work but just dedicate time to completing them. I took her online and found it very manageable in a 5 week course. Book is necessary. Take good notes on her activities. Ended up with a A+.
Easy online class. Super easy. You just have to be on top of your dates. Everything is in her notes, you don't necessarily NEED the book. I got through with an A. 3 exams, A LOT of online activities, A LOT of forums, and one paper. It's a lot of time consuming things, but it's easy. She is so clear of everything.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER for any class! In this ELECTIVE online course, she assigned more hw than any other regular class I have taken. The assignments are ridiculously TEDIOUS. As a teacher, I will never look back on the dumb character strips make or videos she assigned that revolved around a make believe student. Find a better professor.
I love my internship courses, and this one was an easy A, but her instructions are insanely confusing. Usually took me and 2 friends to decipher what she wanted. Lots of busy work!
Easy grader, busy work. Since this is an online class, she gave a lot of tedious homework. If you follow her instructions and complete what is asked, you will get full credit. Her class is not hard at all. Everything from the book or online modules are fair game for the exam. Easy to pass.
Very manageable online class. There was quite a bit of work every week but nothing overwhelming and very easy. Keep up with the due dates and you should be fine. 3 Exams that reflect the notes and 1 term project. I didn't get the book and still passed with an A. Definitely recommend this class as an easy GE credit! + the course was interesting!
The class wasn't difficult but the amount of work was ridiculous. Almost every week a large assignment was due that took a lot of time. The assignments wouldn't be that hard if her instructions were clear but you're pretty much stuck figuring out how to do it yourself.
Took online over the summer, SOLID choice! Weekly reading with activities peppered in (due anytime before the midterms), one paper, midterms, and final. She curves, so getting an A or B is very attainable. No book required, the online modules she assigns are rich with material. Set a schedule to complete assignments and you'll be good to go.
A lot of reading, but simple. As long as you stay on it you will be fine as far as the classwork goes. Assignments are due by Sunday @ 11:59pm. She is never available though, for office hours and I hardly got useful feedback on the big paper we had to make on a student with terms and topics from the class. She does not seem to care about students.
Insanely confusing assignments. She gives no sense of direction and does not respond to emails in a timely manner. Took me and three other students to figure out what the hell we were supposed to do for all of her assignments. Was looking forward to my capstone class... She ruined it for me :( In my final semester and I'm just hoping for the grade
I thought assignments were laid out quite well. The exams were tough, but she does curve! Overall, not too bad.
What a joy! - You do have to read a lot, but she provides great materials, and outside sources you will use when you become a teacher. She does expect a lot from you, she answers emails and clarifies any confusing assignments. I enjoyed her class greatly.
I didn't really use the textbook much because she has interactive lessons that are packed with information. She makes everything easy to understand and has clear instructions for everything. Overall a great class.
Extremely easy class. Clear weekly assignments, offers lots of extra credit & curves the exams. Highly recommend this class.
Honestly, this professor does not respond to e-mails and instructions are super confusing. She was the only professor opened for this class and I took it but regret it very much. She grades fairly well but I didn't learn anything. Highly recommended not to take.
I took her for her online class CAS 315. Assignments due every Sun. by midnight, which was quite time consuming for the week, but super easy/straight forward. One quiz per chapter every week (3 chances). you get two chances to take her exams; curved tests. She is very thorough on what she expects, easy grader. responds quickly to emails. Recommend
Grier is alright. Her homework activities aren't hard just sometimes time consuming. She's not very interactive with the class. Offers some extra credit. One paper, and she doesn't give great feedback for the rough draft. Her tests are actually kind of hard. 3 attempts on quizzes, 2 attempts on tests!
Her instructions are unclear and confusing. On syllabus it says work is due on one day and possibly due on other days. (so whats the point of saying work is due on a certain day!) you really have to be on top of her class. Does not give any partial or extra credit. When asked about assignments she responds vaguely and once its turned in she messag
Class was simple and straightforward, just very time consuming. 3 exams, weekly quizzes, 1 term project paper. Honestly all I did was take notes on the chapter modules, pass the quizzes (3 chances each quiz), skim through the book chapters and the class was an easy A pretty much. The material was interesting so notes werent too bad, just took long
Easy A class. 3 tests, weekly quizzes and some discussion posts and extra credit. The lectures and PPTs took about 2-3 hours to complete. Shes not interactive with the class at all, but its whatever. You can retake the tests twice and quizzes three times. Seriously an easy A
Although this class may have a lot of busy work, they were all too easy to complain about the class. Just turn in the assignment and you will get full credit. You don't need the book, just read the int. lessons. Exams and term project is easy too. Don't stress about the work load, the assignments just too easy.
Took this class online and it wasnt bad. she gives alot of the homework. Based off of 3 test, homework and a essay. The test are very hard but she curves the test generously. Do not miss online exam day because she leaves the due date at 12 a.m which is technically the next day but it is due on the day it opens. You will lose points if late.
The workload was crazy. Yes, it was easy and didn't require your full attention. Test are graded HEAVILY. 100% on all assignments, C's for the test and ended with a C in the class. Very annoyed. I prefer this class than her 326 tho.
The homework load was ridiculous. Hated this class. Would never take her again and definitely not asking my friends to take this class.
took this class because I thought it would be an easy GE class. NO. This class is harder than all my upper division business courses, way too much homework EVERY WEEK. I do not recommend this class. Even though i took it online i spend more time in this class than any other class. what a nightmare. way TOO advanced for being a GE class nope sorry.
This class has a lot of homework. They aren't difficult assignments, so it seems like a lot of busy work. Overall, this class is very manageable. Dr. Grier is very organized and is clear in her expectations.
The homework load is crazy. It is easy, but it is WAY too much busy work. Everything gets so repetitive, I'm tired. After every reading you have to do an assignment. Literally after every paragraph. If you work or taking a lot of classes don't take this class. This class only consists of busy work. Concept isn't even hard, but she makes it busy.
Dont get me wrong, the class is easy. Just do the work and do well on the exams. Simple. Its just the professor. She was honestly the worst professor I had encountered at CSUF and SO UNHELPFUL. She is pretty stubborn when it comes to sorting things out as well (like a grade). She has an attitude but super easy class. Just dont screw up anything
Her "interactive lessons," written by her, sound like a bunch of gibberish and it is hard to follow. She uses her own wording on exams, which as I said previously, confuses me. She talks to much.. and this is an online class so congrats on figuring out how to do that. Don't recommend... just take the usual parenting online class.
I took this course online for Spring 20. It has been one of my favorite online classes because she sets clear due dates, grades are constantly updated, and the work is easy (despite the heavy workload). Youll pass as long as you do the work.
would avoid taking this professor if at all possible, especially in the summer. assignments arent bad, when it comes to tests and papers she's a tough grader. had my first breakdown since I started at CSUF because of the final paper in this course. I really struggled with having so much work to do in such a short time period. shes kinda rude too
Lacks ability to clearly & concisely convey course material but more importantly INSTRUCTIONS for a litany of pointless assignments. Provides 0 direct feedback to individual students, she gives blanket group feedback to the entire class which reeks of laziness. Terrible UI for graphic design platforms she insists you use like "StoryboardThat."
Busy Work is what this class was. I wish I would've taken a different professor. Her lectures were interactive so you could easily get full points, the quizzes hardly had any lecture or book relevance. and the assignments were tedious.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I took her for CAS370 and CAS 315.. worst decision. She does not explain assignments clearly and is not helpful when you need clarification on assignments/papers/exams. She gives you a lot to do in a short period of time. I was struggling all year long in both classes. Just don't take her..
This professors instructions make no sense. I've taken two classes under her and they were both all over the place. It's also hard to track your actual grade, as she doesn't use your point grade for you final grade. If their is another professor available for the same class I recommend choosing the other one.
I took this class in Winter. I got by without reading and relied on her lessons. The exams were not hard. I suggest retaining material for first exam. The hardest part was doing the 12 pages in the short time. I made sure to write 5 pages before the last week hits. Apon last week, we had an exam, an oral presentation. Overall, paper was hard
Would take again, sometimes her assignments are confusing and/ or feel like busy work, but overall is responsive and workload is manageable in addition to the 60 required observation hours
Overall, this class is manageable and the work itself is not difficult. She is understanding & gives you lots of opportunities for extra credit. For many assignments her directions & expectations are unclear, wordy, & confusing. I had to reach out to her an excess amount of times to get more clarity on the assignments.
Professor Grier and her course were very unpleasant. The workload was enormous. Her expectations, prompts, requirements and grading criteria are extremely unclear. She does not respond to emails and messages the first time or with any urgency. I also had a couple technical issues that she completely was unwilling to help with or understand.
She uses exercises that she created and are very glitchy! You will find yourself doing them over because it records a wrong score. She is not helpful. Communication is terrible with her and she is very condescending. she grades from 0-100 so you wont know where you stand in the class till she submits grades. Her class is doable but frustratingds.
I have never had a professor at any college who was so confusing in her descriptions of assignments. On top of this, she tended to be passive-aggressive. My class constantly discussed how she overly complicated instructions/ would take off points on assignments for unclear reasons. It's a shame because the course content is interesting.
Good Afternoon this professor is awful does not help her students and disorganize. This professor gives a lot of homework and does not grade it on time. This school need to check on her and make sure she's doing her job on helping her students. If your ready to fail a class feel free to take her course.
The topic of the course isn't hard. Still, the professor doesn't respond to emails, provides instructions and texts with tons of errors, creates unclear instructions, and then grades the assignments 2 - 3 weeks later with very passive-aggressive comments. Pick another Professor. Someone in admin should check on her teaching credibility.
I did not enjoy this professor. Assignments were not very clear and the layout of the class was confusing.
The class was pretty simple and I honestly liked the interactive lessons. I didn't reach out to her much, but she graded pretty fairly. She gives out lots of extra credits throughout the semester which I appreciated and sometimes curves tests.
