I think she is a really great professor, but I only ever saw her in lecture and during the first recitation. She is a great lecturer, however she talks fast and really only uses her powerpoint to show images and for important dates or events. (so learn how to type/write fast as she speaks). Most of the grading, if not all, was done by our TA.

Prof Hammond is a very nice woman. Her lectures are interesting and engage well with the material. However, we were graded by a grad TA that we never met or even saw - and she was not an easy grader-. This class is all paper writing, definitely not the one to take if you're casually into history ~my mistake~. Decent class, lots of writing.

I loved this class but the lectures fell way behind the class reading, so for a lot of it we were writing essays on events we hadn't covered in class yet. There are pop quizzes in the recitations, so make sure you do the pages assigned for homework, even if it is a lot to do. Don't fall behind on readings, it is really hard to catch up.

I would have liked this class more if it was more organized. Her lectures were always behind the recitations and that always frustrated me and made me feel unprepared for the pop quizzes. If anything this class is more writing intensive and has a lot of essays, but they are graded easy. As a prof, she is great tho and cares for her students.

She was a very nice woman and a good professor. However, I took this class as a gen ed, and it consumed my life with readings and essays. If this is part of your major, I recommend her and the class but not for a gen ed. It's also the same material you learn in every history class, but the readings were interesting.

Dr. Hammond was a really good professor. She was a very personable individual and was always willing to interact with students. She had engaging lectures and was obviously very knowledgeable about topics covered in Western Civ 2. She did however assign many readings and had pop quizzes, I failed one because she didn't hint. She did hint other times

Dr. Hammond is has great lectures and definetly knows the content in and out. This isn't an easy gen-ed, but definely worth it if you enjoy WW2 history. You will be mainly graded on papers based on books assinged. These essays are time consuming, but she gives you good feedback. The pop-quizes are based on in-class content so watch out!

Professor Hammond is a really nice person; however oftentimes lecture material would fall behind what we were discussing/writing about in recitation, which made it stressful and confusing. Pop quizzes happen often in recitation, and the majority of your grade comes from papers. An A is attainable, but you must be willing to put the work in.

Professor Hammond is kind & passionate. The time put in to study/do work, though plenty, is extremely useful. Pop quizzes were hinted at, so you knew when to expect them. Midterm+final were fair, had specific questions, so attending class (notes not posted) is crucial. One of my few classes this semester w/ true college-level rigor, in a good way.

Dr. Hammond is a great professor. You get out of the class what you put in. Weekly readings take about an hour, and assignments are few and far between.
