Great Teacher!
Some people say she's cold and unfriendly, but I never got that feeling. She's just very professional and doesn't have time for people who can't keep up with her teaching. If you treat her with attentiveness and respect and think things through before shouting out questions, she's very willing to help you understand when you do have problems.
She gives notes at light speed and dont bother asking questions. She gives examples in the notes that will be on the test.Instead of teaching the consepts the notes are like unofficial quizes. I would recoment this teacher for above average students, that want a challenge.
This teacher is not good at all! She explains things too fast and will huff and puff to have to explain anything over again. Pop quizes once in a while. DO NOT take her!!! Find a better teacher!
i would recommend staying away from this teacher. she is hard and does not really teach from the book. you have homework in the book but she wants it done differently. there is no way of teaching yourself in this class so taking notes is a must. think before you ask a question. she does not like to re-explain things and she will leave you behind.
Hard, but it is possible to get an A if you are really good at math
Shes hard to follow... isn't clear but shes really helpful. NOt much homework.
just do your work and pay attention and you'll be fine. and its alright if you kind of doze off she reserves a whole week to review for the final.
All over the place in her teaching. Very difficult to understand because she never finishes a thought. Not very helpful when it comes to answering questions or homework problems. However, do the practice tests and homework problems, and the tests will be manageable. Good luck!
She goes really fast in lectures, it was so hard to keep up in her class. She does not review tests or gives an answer key even after she passed it back.Tests are weighted 70% of this class, which is not good because if you fail most of them then you won't be able to raise your grade. I don't recommend this class at all.
Take anyone else if you can. She knows her stuff, but is a very difficult teacher. Too easy to be left behind. Goes fast in lecture and does not like answering questions. Not friendly in class, but welcoming and helpful in office hours. You will struggle in this class.
She's nice! Class attendance is not mandatory, but she doesn't like students who often skip class. Don't touch your phone! She gives hw for every class meeting, but you'll always get full mark for it. She offers a lot extra credits which you'll get only if you attend the class. 4 exams, and 1 final. If you're a good student, she will help you a lot
She knows her stuff, but she tends to lecture quickly. She gives bonuses in class if you can answer her questions, but usually it's the same people that get them. She assigns a lot of homework sometimes, but she reduces the assignments on occasion.
Very nice person, grades fairly, but not a clear teacher. Lectures very fast and she frequently stops mid-sentence while explaining something only to continue with something else (leaving you confused as to what she was trying to say).
Doesnt care to look over the homework she assigns sometimes; the book problems are either never taught or were in a different form she didnt explain. 30 minutes of her complicated lecture could be taught in 3 minutes by some teachers because her explanations are CONFUSING. I wouldn't recommend her. I had to self-teach from YouTube 90% of the time.
Very hard to follow She even told us that she doesnt check our hws because she has no time so its easy to ace the hws but if you dont understand it youll easily get left behind. What she teaches in class is diff from what in the book and which is also diff from the probs in the exams. Worse part is the final exam probs were diff from the quiz probs
She can't teach at all. The material she taught made no connection with the book! She doesn't know what she is teaching at all! There's no way to get an A in this course unless you follow all her rules, but sadly I doubt that no one can understand what she is talking. Take her if you want to drop it eventually!
She assigned homework every class. Her tests are fairly easy, really identical to her review sheet. If you get an A for the tests you don't have to take the finals. She gives a lot of bonuses too. Clear explanation as well.
Probably one of the worst Calculus professors I have seen. She teaches her way with no correlation to the newer textbook because she teaches out off a really old edition. She condescends to you in her office hours.
Ive had mixed feelings with her but she actually is a really nice teacher. Class is not a must to go to but ofcourse if you miss the notes its on you. If you show her youre dedicated and want to pass her class, she will help you out a lot! there is a lot of notes & homework but do all your homework , do well on test and do the stat project !
She cannot concisely and clearly teach. For example There is no step by step process for techniques or concepts taught. She shows you how to do a problem, but doesn't teach you how to approach the problem or why certain techniques are used. She'll literally just say, use 'x' technique, with no mention of why. I literally had to teach myself.
always get A for homework.
So, I personally like her so much. 1) If you get an A in the 3 exams, u don't need to take those part in the final. Check with her & she will tell u how many marks u need to get an A. If u get all A in the 3 exams, u will get an A in class wo taking the final. 2) Be a good student & she will be always there to help u. 3) Your hard work matters!
I just took Mrs. Month class and I have to say I really enjoyed her class though I did not end up with an A. The material and tests were not really difficult, instead they were relatively easy. But, she's pretty strict in scoring your exams because she'll take some of your points easily if you forgot to show your work. Always do the homework.
Professor Month is, I'm sure, a nice person. However, after the first test, she changed her spots completely. Was rude, terse, unhelpful and short to every question asked about the quiz and current topic. She clearly wanted to move on but called the class 'clueless, lost, and I have no idea how you were placed in my class'. It was very rude.
she has no sympathy whats so ever she is very rude and could care less for people that struggle , She says to go to the math lab because behind students are not her problem
Even though she didn't have amazing lecture, she was very helpful. She let me ask so many questions at her office hour. And also, she gave a lot of extra credit! Honestly, the extra credit helped me to boost my grade, so in the end I didn't need to take the final exam. I highly recommend you to take her class for Math-192.
she is a great teacher. i had her for 2 semesters and if you show up and listen carefully u will understand and you can ask her any question no matter how stupid it is and she will answer. there all lots of extra credits given and lots of quizes that are only for extra credit. if you get good grades in exam you dont nedd to take it in the finals.
Ms. Month is pretty tough and her tests can be pretty difficult. She's incredibly intelligent and takes the time to explain every concept. She answers about 90% of questions but sometimes she does get frustrated repeating herself. I would recommend her if you're good at math and like a challenge. I will definitely be taking her calc classes.
This teacher is very rude, unhelpful and bit crazy. her class is very boring till you always want to leave the class. her exam is very easy though. she is not a kind teacher. dont take this class!
Month was one of the worst teacher Ive taken. She doesn't help out the students and expects everyone to get the lecture right away. She always late to class!!
She is not a very good teacher and her lecture is extremely long and boring. She doesn't explain anything and just expect you to understand. DO NOT TAKE HER IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME TAKING CALC.
Gives a lot of extra credit chances and easy tests. Homework is usually light. Her big flaw is lecture. She goes entirely too fast and thinks doing 14 examples for you will teach you the logic on HOW to do it. Doesnt explain things well. If you can teach yourself out of the book you will do fine. If you understand the homework you can do the tests.
Professor Month is a solid calculus teacher that gives you many opportunities to improve your grade. She wants everyone to do well in calculus 1. There are quizzes that go towards your test grade (but dont hurt you) . Some of these are even in groups. If you get an A on any test, that part of the final does not need to be taken. Would recommend.
Lengthy lectures, does not explain well, just gives many examples. Gives basic examples in class and then test questions are much more difficult. Tough grader. She is reluctant to explain problems if student doesn't understand. Gives daily homework but does not check it for mistakes. Would not take her again
I don't know why people here think she is not a good professor. I personally think she's the best math prof I've ever had in DVC. TONS OF EXTRA CREDITS! And she is so nice when you go to the office hour for help. And let's say If you do 90+ in the chapter1,2,3 exams, you can skip the part related to chapter1,2,3 in the final exam.
If you want to get A for Math 193, never ever take this class. I have never left any ratings in this website, but I came to warn you all before you take this class. Briefly, her tests are real hard; homework is real hard (no answers provided or marked); she ignores students when they come to ask her questions -- she's very rude to students.
Pros: Lots of bonuses and extra credit. Also timely grading. Cons: Lectures go by quickly and can be confusing. Sometimes rude and degrading but if you have thick skin she might be a good choice bc if your grade on the final is better than the grade in the class she gives you whichever is better. Short homework twice a week and only 10% of grade.
oh gosh. She came to our differential equations class as a sub, and she was clearly off at the end but trying to present the wrong way instead of admitting that she was lost. It was horrible.
It is really hard to get an A in her class but still possible. Her lectures are not so clear, so I had to study hard outside the class to understand the topics covered in class. Tests are hard but she gives extra credits throughout the semester.
I took both calculus 1 and calculus 2 from her. She is awesome. She gives tons of extra credit problems. If you go to her review sessions you'll do great on exams. I like the way she explains. She really wants you to know the stuff. She loves math
I really learned alot. Extra credit problems really help grades. She is funny but sometimes talks too fast. she is helpful in her office hours. definitely recommend. i fell prepared for calc 3, i hope.
She is very lecture heavy and makes it difficult to sit through a full class. She takes a complicates, proof dependent way of doing problems which could be done with a simpler approach. She does give several extra credit opportunities.
I thought I was gonna fail in this class but she helped and gave better grade than I expected. At the beginning of the class I didn't really like her teaching style because she teaches kind of fast.
she really helped me a lot. i finally learned the trig i needed. she really cares. i will take her again for calc 2.
She gives lots of examples. I learned a lot. It's clear she loves math. She inspired me to work harder and it paid off.
She really helped me by reviewing precalc all the time. If you study you'll do well. Review sessions are helpful. I want her for all my calculus classes.
She really wants you to understand because she loves math so much. Tests are okay if you study. I wish i could take her for next level
I love this class. Series is hard. If you study you can do well. Tons of examples in class really help understand. Recommend you takes her.
You'll really learn alot and be prepared. Good amount of homework. Not too much. She teaches extra stuff. If you're going to UC you'll be ready. Class is fun.
Offers lots of extra credit and really cares about students learning the material. A lot of it is hard but if you do all the homework and pay attention in class she does a lot of examples that can help you pass. She puts the lecture notes online to review any time and she is available outside of class. Great prof, would take again.
The material is hard but she really wants you to learn it and gives you lots of opportunities. She really cares. Definitely recommend her
She gives good explanations. She helped me a lot with my project. Definitely recommend her
Lots of extra credit. I liked the group worksheets. Do your homework, ask questions and don't get behind. One of the best calc profs.
She wrote appeal letter for me which worked so I got into Berkeley. She works hard. She gives interesting lectures with lots of good examples. 3 exams, final and hw which is A if you attempt all the problems.
class is always fun and lively. she explains really well and gives more examples if you don't understand. she puts lectures online. definitely recommend. best calc prof
I did better than I thought I would. Group worksheets really helped. If you study practice exams you will do well. I'm taking her again.
Her class was special. I'm going to miss it. Wish she could teach calc 3
She really teaches. so much better than my high school class. Great so far. 4 exams, final, hw. Wouold definitely take again.
Leslie assumes us to be smart already and skips the basics. For newcomers such as myself this class is very hard to keep up with. Better off studying myself
Leslie Month is a fantastic person and I enjoyed her as a person, but as a professor she was awful. The lectures had no structure and bounced around. Tests were extremely difficult, but she did offer lots of opportunity for extra points. (I'm currently passing Calc 2 with flying colors, so this is not because I am bad at math)
She subbed for my Calculus 2 class and she gave a great lecture. She really taught me and she said later and answered questions for any one who wanted. I would definitely take her. She answers all your questions and I like her lectures.
She was a sub in my Mowry Calc 2 class and she was awesome. She gave handouts and answered everyone's quetions. I really learned alot. She's on par with Mowry. I recommend her.
She was a sub and she was so prepared. I really liked her style and would definitely recommend her for Calculus
She was a sub for differential equations. She lectured the whole time, answered everyone's questions and was funny. She is great.
You can tell she really loves math. Lots of handouts, but they are helpful. 4 exams-one is take home plus final and homework. She posts notes on line and homework solutions. She is a good explainer and answers all questions. one of the best calc profs.
She was a sub and she was great. I would definitely take her for any math class. She writes everything on the board so it is easy to take notes which you really need to do in this class.
I had her for calc 1 and she was great. She gives tons of extra credit opportunities and she reviews a lot of material. I couldn't take her for calc 2 but I wish I had. I'll definitely take her again if I can. One of the best.
She gave very clear explanations with lots of examples and worksheets. She is very helpful. I definitely recommend her and will take her again.
She gives detailed explanations, many examples, answers all your questions, posts notes on line. What else can I say. If you study you'll be able to get an A.
She helped me all semester. She posted notes online. She reviewed for all exams and posted sample exams and solutions online. She gives lots of bonus points. She spent lots of time on limits which helped me for calc 2 and 3. I saved my notebook from this course.
She writes everything down on blackboard. Gives review sessions and sample exams and goes over homework and she explains really well. She loves math and you can tell.
She gives detailed explanations and pretty much knows in advance what is going to be hard for us, which is helpful. She puts handouts and sample exams online. HWis not online. I like her style and I recommend her.
I had her for both algebra and calculus. Her M120 was great. She gave lots of worksheets and answered all hw questions at the beginning of class. She kept reviewing mistakes we made. In Calculus she goes faster but I am so prepared.
She talks fast but goes slowly. She answers everyone's questions in class. (Too much for my taste.) She explains really well and teaches lots of tricks to make problems easier. She lets you do worksheets in class for extra credit. Her sample exams are very helpful. Her class is fun because you can tell she likes what she does.
Material is hard but she gets you through it. She gives handouts and explanations that are not in the book which some people might mind but I liked it. She is funny and her lectures are never boring. Her explanations are very clear. I recommend her.
She is a kind professor who cares about her students. She gives lots of extra credits and posts class note and exam study guides on canvas. I would take her again!
She is the best calc prof at DVC. She makes the class enjoyable and I learned so much. 4 exams, final, hw . She posts notes and hw and exam solutions. She answers hw questions in class and she is always prepared.
Prof. Month is great. She always smiles walking into class. Starts by answering questions and she is a good explainer. You can tell she likes what she does. I recommend her for any math class.
I really like her teaching style. She is funny and she writes everything down on the blackboard and she encourages participation. I understand her. I recommend her.
Expects you to teach yourself; doesn't use the book (tells you it's useless); tells you tutor center can't help with this level of math; leaves out important details that are necessary to understand the material; tells you she doesn't care if you don't know the format she expects; gives extra credit to favorites only (I was first to raise my hand)
If you come to class you'll do fine. She gives handouts and explains more than the textbook. I am really learning alot but the course is hard. She posts lectures online and gives take-home exams.
She is a nice person and is willing to spend extra time with you to help you. She posts notes online and she goes over homework at the beginning of every class. i recommend her.
She is my favorite calculus prof. She has her own way of teaching which I really like. She gives lots of extra information and writes up handouts and posts them online as well as homework solutions and lectures. She also posts sample exams with solutions online which were a big help for me. Take her.
She explains new topics well and she repeats herself. The best thing for me is that she posts lecture notes online so that I can pay more attention in class and look at notes if I miss writing down something. She answers more questions in class than any other math professor I know. Take home exam and 2 in class exams and final and hw. I expect an A
This was the best course I ever took. You will not believe how much you learn. I never worked so hard in my life. You can definitely get an A if you keep up, ask questions and do homework. She is always available and loves to explain. She teaches lots of stuff not in the book so you have to come to class. Lecture notes posted on line.
I never thought i would say this, but I enjoyed this class! She is amazing. she loves to teach. She is always available and she is willing to spend the extra time to help you.
I recommend her for all calculus classes. She is very thorough, puts notes online, gives handouts and is lots of fun. She clearly loves her subject. Take her you won't regret it.
Start here and take her for all your calculus classes and you'll do great. She gives good lectures and posts notes and handouts and sample exams and solutions. She is willing to spend a lot of time with you and I really like her explanantions.
I loved this class. Prof. Month is the greatest. She is kind, caring, super smart, funny and loves math. She is my inspiration. Take her.
She is so cool. She says she loves infinity. I love to listen to her. She makes calculus awesome and she also posts notes online, gives extra credit, gives in class and take home exams. I recommend her for any math course.
Offers many chances for extra credit. Exams correlate well with material discussed in class. Don't interrupt her during lectures.
Professor Month is very old school. She grades based off of personal opinion on the way that it should be formatted. Month treats us like Kindergarteners by preventing us from leaving and call us out if we glance or have any type of technology out. She also doesnt give us the break we are legally supposed to have.
Course is hard but she helps me a lot in office hours. She is funny and does everything to help you succeed. Take her for calculus
She gives really helpful handouts which she puts online. Take home exam is long but okay to do. She explains really well. Best calc prof.
The material is hard. you definitely have to do the homework and read the handouts. The sample exams that she posts online are very helpful. She reviews in class and answers your questions.
She gives lots of bonus points and she keeps doing examples until you understand. She answers all your questions. She really cares about you. I recommend her if your scared of math.
She always helps me when Ineed it. She really wants you to succeed. If it weren't for her I wouldn't get a good grade which I hope will be an A. She does stuff not in the textbook.
Leslie Month is a great teacher. She provides good help and is a nice person too. In addition, she gives lots of bonus points and partial credit.
I find math a little difficult and I read the reviews on Leslie & was hoping she was what they said about her. unfortunately not entirely, she goes through her lectures and her examples far too quickly, she gives lots of examples but her work is all over the place and isn't easy to follow. unless you're a math genius, I wouldn't recommend.
She is more than the best. she helped me every step of the way. I couldn't have passed with out her. she really cares and she wants you to learn math. I miss her.
Take her for calc. She loves it and explains it well. Be prepared to read lots of handouts. She posts her own hw assignments and solutions. You really don't need the book. You have to come to class or you'll miss too much.
Hardest course ever. I loved it. Now I know mathematics. She is very patient and gives good exam reviews. I definitely recommend her.
Great explainer and full of passion. I want her for all my calc classes. Class is fun. She posts notes online and gives worksheets and posts solutions.
The whole class is her lectures. I'm in awe . She'll make you love math. Lots of handouts. Take her.
