Knows her stuff, cares about students, but expects you do learn

Amazing teacher! Took creative writing I, it's a couple stories and tons of class participation. SUPER strict about cell phones. Don't even have it on your lap. And if you miss 4 classes then you're marked down a whole letter grade, so don't miss class.

Best teacher I ever had, would've taken her for 1302 if I hadn't transferred. Didn't think I was very good at writing, but I got an A in her class. So she definitely taught me well, and she teaches English Composition the right way for sure.

If there was ever a time i took an english class serious, this was it. She makes her presence felt in the class and makes sure everyone has her attention when she explains something. Respect her and you'll get the same in return. Very upbeat and very knowledgable about the course and has command over what she does. Has a great sense of humor =D !

Shes not easy but if you want to learn this is the teacher to take shes VERY helpful and helps you if your having a hard time. she really helped me learn how to write she teaches what the student want to learn or have trouble with i recommend her for English I ans II.

Former SMU and Un. of Houston professor this teacher is for the people who want to learn. If you are a slacker or your lazy do not take her, you will fail. Four quizzes, and four daily assignments; she will drop the two lowest. Three papers and the Final which is multiple choice. I made an A in the class and I thought she was the best teacher ever.

She was a good professor and taught us a lot about how to write good papers and taught us a lot about grammar. I did like this professor's teaching style however I did not enjoy her personality. Was very harsh, and sometimes rude. Good class otherwise.

Prof Richardson taught me more than all of my previous english teachers combined, while at the same time keeping the class simple and easy. She's commuting to another campus for believe me.

Extremely good teacher! I learned so much in her class. She has a good personality and makes class interesting; however, she will call you out and wait for you to answer the question she's asking until you get it right. You learn a lot of very helpful grammar. Make sure you attend class. It's worth it. Definitely recommend her!!!

Dr. Ricardson is an awesome teacher, but only if you are willing to listen, participate and do your best 100% of the time. She can be a hard grader, but she makes class interesting and fun. She doesn't hold anything back, so if you don't have a "back bone" get one. She is really an awesome professor.

She was amazing, great personality. Her classes aren't to be taken by people with thin skin or the easily offended. She's funny and will talk with you during or after class if you have any questions. She was nice enough to let me take my final early so I could go on my senior trip. My only complaint would have to be the 1-2 question quizzes.

Really insightful. Breaks things down, and makes you think. Whatever she's teaching, I will take it. Different from any other English teacher. She makes things make sense. Can't wait to take a literature class from her to see what she says about what we read, have her make this stuff make sense too! Love her. Take her if you can!

Took her for creative writing. I have had three other fiction profs at three other places and she was/is the best. Nice, insightful(like that other pos says),knows exactly what to tell you about your stories. I finally understand plot,too. Awesome. Dont' know what she's doing at collin but we got her for now!

Great Professor! Very dedicated to make you understand the purpose of the class. She will sit on you but don't be afraid to voice your own opinion because she will make you if you don't.

Doesn't give extra credit ever, just wants you to participate in class and learn to write. I thought I knew how to writein high school English but I was just b.s.ing and Dr. Richardson helped me write without bs and now I'm doing well in all my other classes. I thank her! I didn't make an A but that is because I missed class too much.

She is super good, she helps you understand wrting really well. She's funny and the strategies she use are really helpul. She is a GREAT professor.

Professor Richardson is the BEST PROFESSOR EVER! She is tough, but fair. All she wants you to do is learn how to write. The way she teaches is very clear and easy to understand. I have already signed up for her 1302 class:) Just a word of advice if you want to be infantilized don't take her class.

She is an amazing teacher. She teaches you how to write good, well, and organized essays. If you can't pass this class with flying colors then you are obviously not trying. You will learn a lot from her so be prepared to work and participate and you will do fine.

I took her in my 1301 class, at first i found her rude but she is just too straight forward so i learnt to adjust and do what took me to that class. She wants every student to know how to write well "the primary goal of writing is to communicate clearly" she means it and will do anything for you to understand.I have her in 1302

I was surprised at how well I did in this class. The professor can make or break a subject and Dr. Richardson made class something I looked forward to. I also have the skills I need in writing.

She IS awesome! She KNOWS her stuff. She has been very helpful to me this past semester and she will help you if you ask. But she is a NO TOLERANCE person...she is straight forward, if you come at her a certain way being disrespectful she won't put up with it. She has the attitude like "I'll teach you if you are willing to learn" I LOVE HER!

She is funny, smart, and a great teacher. No, she is not the easiest, but you will learn how to write a good paper. She is very clear about expectations and sticks with them. Just follow the guidelines and you will do fine. She can come of as being short, but she just doesn't sugar coat anything. If you need help just ask! She will help you!

Leslie doesn't mess around! She doesn't waste any time and if you actually try in her class, and let go of your old ideas, then writing will become easy! I will always use what good ole' Leslie Richardson taught me in Composition I. She can be harsh but thats what us lazy college kids need!

Richardson was a pretty good teacher. She is very organized and replies to questions very quickly. She posts lots of lectures, notes, etc. that are helpful. But writing papers is difficult. In the online course, we had two papers, and each time I received barely passing papers (and I am a decent writer).

I absolutely loved her! We never had home work and if we did it was to read a small part of a chapter. We did all the hard work in class. The way she explains stuff is so clear and easy to understand it all sticks with you even after the semester! You can tell that she loves her work and wants to help students learn as well.

Great professor! Doesn't have a set page limit for any of her essays.

She was really good. Basically if you put in the effort you'll pass. She does take attendance. If you miss class just because you skipped, you won't be able to make up the work. She is very reasonable.

Prof Richardson seriously ROCKS. Wish i would have taken her for 1301. I have learned so much from her in just one semester,stuff that also relates and really helps you get out of HS writing. She's witty and really likes to engage with the class. TAKE HER! easy tests, easy(few) pop quizzes, i enjoyed this class a lot!

Dr. Richardson is a very fair teacher that gives feedback to help you get better grades. She gives out 3 papers and 3 exams with no final. There is reading but its only around 15 pages per assignment. Do the assigned reading and you will pass with an easy A. I ended up with a 98 for her class and only spent around 15 hours outside of class.

She's a nice and fun teacher. Her lectures are really interesting, but sometimes I feel like they go off topic. There are 2 essays, 4 tests, a few quizzes, and a 25 page free writing journal. The tests and quizzes are SUPER easy, 2 of the tests were open book. The only thing is she's a tough grader on essays.

I learned a lot from this professor. Not the easiest, but clear and easy to understand. Quizzes are easy, tests are pretty easy, papers are easy once you figure out what she's telling you to do. Would take again.

She is real, if you liked high school writing and like to fluff your essays with pointless words you WILL fail. She doesnt play that, the primary goal of writing is to communicate clearly, and writing is hard because thinking is hard. No word counts on a single essay or assignment, write however much you need to get your point across. PERIOD.

Hard nosed, straight forward, tells you what you need to hear not what you want. She is very easy to talk though, makes the subject easy to understand, and she is funny. Expect to work for an A though. I took her for 1301 and 1302 and I wish I had more instructors like her.

Professor Richardson is really friendly and accessible. Once we had the option to upload our outline to the discussion board for peer review. However since none of my classmates said anything about my outline, she took the time to read it and give me feedback before the due date. I would definitely take her again!

She is is a GREAT professor. As you go through the semester you hate her less. In the beginning you want to drop out because of how blunt she can be. She tells you exactly what she wants in your papers. She gives great feedback and if you actually go to her class and listen to her you will pass. I wanted to drop out and ended up with an A!

I hated her at first but I've learned more from her in a few weeks than I learned all throughout high school. I've always been good at english and grammar but she really helped me excel. She's tough but thorough. She's not gonna take off points for something she hasn't taught. Super blunt but I would for sure take her again!

Tough grader on the essays and they count a lot towards your final grade :( The rest of the class is pretty simple.

I took her fall 2016 she was amazing. The first paper wasn't really a paper it just need to be the thesis and two body paragraph, but the next two paper will be a real paper. She will have quizzes from the textbook and if the class answer her question then you won't have alot of homework. The lab is to write 6000words that seem like alot but it not

You will never be bored in class. She makes everything so clear and the people who have her for one class take her for as many other classes as we can! I had her for 1301, 2012, and Maymester American Literature. She's interesting and by far the best teacher I have ever had. You can tell she loves her job and wants us to do well.

Love her! She doesn't mess around, and you learn so much! She doesn't put up with "jokers" in class, and that is refreshing. Would take again.

The course was very organized and well put together. This was my first online course, and I really enjoyed every bit of it. I enjoyed the encouraging comments and constructive advice that I received from my Professor. English is not my first language, therefore, I made sure to study all the materials carefully. I am taking English 1302 with her.

very straightforward. gave 2 paper and they were both research paper, one group project, and she will gave pop quiz if no one answer her question over the reading but for the most part she will tell you when she is giving a test or quiz.

She expects you to talk in class. Not a very easy class, but I learned a lot. I am going to take her next semester too. Had 2 papers this whole semester and not much reading other than a few excerpts. She can be harsh sometimes and call people out but she doesn't take any nonsense from anyone. Super funny. A rhetoric professor who doesn't have time for excuses and can come off harsh sometimes. Very blunt and to the point. But she will tell you exactly what is wrong with your papers and how to fix it. I would have enjoyed this class more if I wasn't struggling so much with mental illness. Take her class if you have your stuff together, I didn't.

Don't take her class if you can't handle sarcasm. She is very tough at the beginning but chills out throughout the semester. Stick with the class and it will be worth it, I considered dropping for a long time and I'm glad I didn't because I started to actually enjoy her class. Taking her class has definitely made me a better student

I miss her already. The person I have for class this semester is going to be fine, but . . . . Dr. Richardson is someone who will make an impression on all she teaches. You know where you stand with her, you can expect not tricky tests, and fair and consideration. Her lectures make everyone think. You will love her.

She is by far the best professor I've ever had! Not in the sense of getting by with an easy A, but actually learning something in her class. I respect her, and will remember her forever. If you don't want to work hard I advise you NOT to take this class, you will probably fail. She is such a great teacher though.

Easily the greatest professor I have ever taken at Collin. She comes across as extremely harsh, but stick it out - you realize that she doesn't sugarcoat because she wants you to succeed! I walked out of this class as a genuinely better writer. We only did 2 papers, 1 presentation, and 2 tests. If you really want to improve and learn, take her!

I took her for three classes. She has helped me become a better student and writer. She is strict but you learn more than you do in other classes. She's dedicated to students learning. Doesn't put up with students who don't want to work or think .

This professor focuses on how to write, throw out the fake rules you learned in Highschool. She doesn't make you read a lot but you need to read it seriously or you won't understand so pay attention to all reading and directions, buy the books

She makes English simple. She is straight to the point and can be a little intimidating but seriously, if you want to learn how to write papers for the real world, take this class. She is super funny and she teaches you what you need to know.

You should take her especially if you are a math person. She doesn't care for fluff , values logical and clear writing. You don't have to be an English major to make an A in her class. She lets you know what will be on the tests and gives clear instructions.

No BS professor. She is very clear and direct with her expectations so be prepared to follow the syllabus closely. Gives good constructive criticism, don't take her class if your feelings are easily hurt because she will tell it like it is.

Overall, an interesting professor! Lectures always included life experiences, while relating to English. Attendance is a must!

Professor Richardson was truly one of the best professors I have had. She is devoted to her students and gives them a positive learning environment. I would recommend Professor Richardson to students. She reminded me how much I love poetry! She is so passionate about what she teaches and that wears off on the students.
