Leslie is great natured, passionate, kind, helpful and encouraging. I can't stand math and though this class was certainly not easy for me she showed great interest in my success. Her notes are clear and she is always happy to be interrupted to answer questions.

Leslie is fantastic! Anyone in the Okanagan that needs calculus for their degree but has had issues with math/calculus in the past should definitely give Leslie's course a try. She is always in a great mood, very helpful, and definitely knows how to teach math. Fantastic instructor!

Leslie is incredible. She teaches courses that are highly populated by arts students just trying to fulfill required credits and is wonderfully patient and encouraging about it. She understands the subject matter does not come easily for everyone and will never belittle you for asking a question. Let her know if you are having a tough time!

Leslie is phenomenal. Best Mathematicsstats teacher to get, shes always there for student help and is so quirky, she makes the lectures fun! She's a very easy marker, and allowed my class to use cheat sheets for our tests. If you can get into her class, I highly recommend her!

I was expecting it to be a boring math course (I do not like mathematics), but Leslie changed my mind within the first week. Her lectures are clear and extremely helpful, and she makes Stats enjoyable. Her jokes and stories are hilarious. This prof is a definite yes for STATS or any math class. She always puts in 110% for her students.

Leslie is super wonderful prof and a really nice person. Even though she had a few office hours cancelled this semester, she is always there for her students. I'm not really a stats person but it is clear that she really knows her stuff. If you want a great first math prof after high school I strongly suggest Leslie.

Leslie is amazing. This woman made statistics into an interesting class. I'm not sure how, but she did. She's not a breeze--you'll definitely need to pay attention and study--but if you try, you'll have an easy A. I really can't say enough about how great she was.

Leslie is amazing - she is the first instructor who has ever been able to teach me math in a way I can understand. Be warned, she can sometimes be super A.D.D. when giving lectures - but that's why I love her so much! It's never boring! Leslie engages the class by keeping things constantly switching up. This professor really really wants her students to succeed. All questions in class were always welcomed and appreciated by her. Her notes are amazing. Her tests are clear. I was not looking forward to this class but it ended up being one of my favorites.

I am terrible at math-- very very bad. However, Leslie was the best. I succeeded in this class because she does such a great job communicating the course content and she is always affirming students and their questions. I almost thought I loved math while I was in her class. Please take her class.

Incredible teaching style. Leslie really knows her stuff and is able to communicate effectively. She's super friendly and understanding of one's struggles and puts an apparent amount of effort into helping you. She is very approachable. She is clear with what she expects you to know on exams and her notes/lectures are very thorough and clear.

Getting Leslie is like going into your tournament day and your opponent picks the worst character on the roster with a smile and says good luck have fun. The course is impossible to fail. She does things like dumping your worst assignment. Leslie is really nice too. Overall, the class is free, the teacher is nice, and you actually learn something.

Leslie is THE best professor that have ever had the pleasure of studying under. I cried over math almost every week through most of my years of school but Leslie taught me to love math in just 3 months. She was highly respected by everyone in our class. LOVE this Prof. Three weeks into the term my class at UBCO changed profs and she was our new Prof. She is funny, makes jokes and you can tell that she really cares about her students. She jumps around a little bit when she lectures (but only because she is so excited). 10/10 would recommend her to anyone... hope she comes back to UBCO.

This professor is very friendly and a helpful professor among all of the students. Whenever some students are having hard time learning the subject, she is always there ready and willing to explain and teach us and make it easier for us students to understand the lesson more effectively and she is always there cheering and supporting everyone.

Leslie has been my favorite professor since starting post-secondary. She is very intelligent and insightful. She makes pre calculus feel important and engaging. Her course is taught in a way that builds on previous work so it flows very nice. It feels as though she genuinely cares about every student in her class and is always available.

Leslie is an INCREDIBLE professor and I would love to take another one of her courses! She is thorough and makes sure everyone understands. The course is exam heavy, but she tells you EXACTLY what is going to be on the exam so it is not hard to prepare for them :) she provides a textbook but there are no mandatory readings, it's just for practice!

I have never been able to pass a Math course in the past and was my 3rd time taking MATH111 (all different instructors), but Leslie made sure that even in a big class I was understaing the work. Her lectures are very clear and easy to understand and follow, her examples/quizes/tests are all to a standard in which everyone can understand.

As a mature student who hasn't been in math class for years, I found it pretty intimidating. But Leslie's teaching style changed that. She has a real talent for breaking things down clearly and always checks in on the class, diving deeper whenever she senses confusion. If you're struggling with math, being present in class makes all the difference.

I would highly recommend Leslie Shayer for any Math courses that she is teaching. She emphasized that each student must understand the basic underlying concepts of the course and she did it perfectly. She planted knowledge and skills I can definitely use in my day to day life.

Truly the best professor I've ever had , I have taken this class once before and was unsuccessful but with Leslie it was a breeze and a blast . She made the lectures so engaging and was amazing at teaching the material in the most understandable way possible while also always willing to help you 1 on 1, would take again with her if I could!!

She makes sure that everyone is understanding what's going on before moving forward. In case a topic wasn't clear or there wasn't time to cover a topic she will post a video with the notes attached. Don't fe afraid to ask any questions because she will explain any type of question with no problem. I would definitely recommend Leslie.

I'm not young anymore, and I've had many teachers both inside and outside of Canada, and I can say without a doubt that Leslie was the best teacher I've ever had. Believe me, math is extremely difficult for me, but Leslie made the course one of the easiest I've ever taken at OC.

I've taken both MATH111 and MATH160 from Leslie and she is amazing!! My favourite prof ever. She is funny, caring, and wants everyone to succeed. I've always done poorly in math, but her teaching made me fully understand every concept and do really well in the course. rarely any homework, lots of class time to work.

Leslie is such an amazing professor! I found her video's very engaging and she is a very funny when explaining concepts which makes it more fun to learn. She is also a respectful grader and gives you good marks if you do the work the way she wants it.

Leslie was a great prof. My class was asyncronos and I think the workload was perfect for this kind of class. A heads up there is lot's of group projects but they can usually be done online or on zoom with whoever you group up with. Good gpa booster and a great refresh if you haven't done math in a while.
