Do not take this professfor if you are not that good in math. She will just confuse you more. Lecture in class is not similar to reviews for test , you will need to go to office hours because you will find that many questions are confusing. She claims that the reviews are like the test and for the first two test they are but not on the third.
Great teacher, super energetic, tests are just like the reviews just numbers changed and tests are multiple choice. Online homework is stupid but it usually gives you multiple attempts.
Shroyer is a really caring professor. She gave our class lots of extra credit. I will tell you that you will not do well in this class if you expect to understand the material right away during lecture. You will have to work pretty hard mostly by studying past online homework and quizzes because the class notes do little to no help at all.
She is the most precious professor ever. Very quirky and likable, she loves class participation and knows what she is talking about. Material itself is confusing and hard to understand and the amount of homework is annoying but ultimately it is very helpful to understanding the class. Do the homework as it gets assigned and it leads to success!
You can mostly teach yourself all the material with the homework. The quizzes were online and easy as was the homework. She's a very good teacher and knows what she's talking about. There were a lot of notes and you have to print out all the notes pages. It's a very fast paced course, you learn a new thing everyday with not much in class practice.
Her tests are ridiculously hard, and she chooses the hardest questions to ask her tests. The class time is for going over problems, so you must see her if you are confused. She does not curve her test, so its very hard to pass unless you are good at math.
This class is very hard but Leslie is awesome and she gives you every opportunity to pass. As long as you show up to class, do the homework, and study hard, you can pass. Final exam replaces lowest test grade and attendance+homework is equal to another test grade. I'm terrible at math so if I can pass, you can too.
has the hardest tests ever if you struggle with math and makes passing very difficult but does provide extra credit for attendance
Shroyer's class was incredibly easy. Reviews are just like the test, so don't be lazy. If you can solve it on the review, then you'll be fine on the test. If you don't know how to solve something, then use Symbolab or office hours. Lots of homework assignments & usually a weekly quiz. Attendance is extra credit up to a 17.5 on the final exam.
Class is just note based but they dont help I learned everything from the online homework. She made multiple mistakes while going through the notes during class. Its an easy class if youre good at teaching yourself. I finished with a B+ the class wasnt that hard the professor just isnt very helpful.
Professor Shroyer is AWSOME. she one of the best Calc life science teacher. She gives you a review a week or so before the exam and takes those review question and rewrites them to make your exam. SO you basically know what on the test. However the reviews are very long there about 40-60 or so questions. Recommend going to SI, it REALLY Helps.
She isnt good at explaining anything in depth. She just overall wasnt a good teacher. I did every homework, quiz, test and went to her office hours and still got a 69.25 that she refused to bump.
She is great. Her expectations are 100% clear up front, and her explanation of material is honestly some of the best I've seen. Lots of math teachers try to overcomplicate math to make it seem harder than it is, but she does just the opposite to make it really accessible. She's caring & has great energy, even at 8am.
She was not a bad professor at all, I was just in a class with more than 200 people in it and she pretty much explained things as like a review as if we already know it. I had to go multiple times to her office hours where she does slow down and actually explain it a lot better
Doesnt care at all about her students. Fails to so her job. Cant explain anything that makes sense, ignores questions and devalues her students time. Worst professor ive had. Thinks her time is more valuable than anyone else.
Horrible teacher. she may be nice but shes awful at her job. Can barely explain any concepts, jumps around the work and straight up refuses to answer peoples questions. Feel like i have a first grade teacher instructing a college class . very inconsiderate of her students time and any questions they! worst teacher all year!
worst professor dude. came up to her with questions that she literally didnt explain in class and blew me off. youre the teacher so teach its what youre paid for. dreaded this class because of her. just because shes nice does NOT make her a good professor. take a class where the prof actually who can actually teach you the material. :)
worst teacher i think ive ever had. its like she barely understands the material herself and she is all over the place. wish i had knew what professor i had BEFORE signing up for this class
Took her over the summer. It was literally just printing out notes and going over it in class. Explaining superficially hoping the students would get it on their own. There was tons of homework online. Tests were almost exactly like the reviews. She is a nice lady but there were some days shed be super snappish at people asking questions.
This is by far the worst professor Ive had. She completely disregarded my questions. She skips problems in class for time which makes the entire class miss so much material. When its time to do homework or study for tests, youll end up not knowing how to do a lot of problems because she skipped them in class.
does not respect her time AT ALL. Inconsiderate. Expects her students to just get it, provides no real support. Office hours are limited so no point in going if you have a busy schedule. Mathcats is available, but out of the way. No point in going to class if you have to teach yourself anyways. Class is a waste of time but mandatory.
if youre not so good at math , i would not recommend her
Shes sweet, but just alright. Im already really good at math, so I excelled in that class, but even the things I didnt know that well, I just depended on ConnectMath or looked it up myself. If you tend to struggle more with math, I probably wouldnt recommend her. She skips some vital problems, as well as good questions people usually have.
She is funny, relatable, and wants you to be excited about math! I loved having her so much.
only take her if you absolutely have too. Lots of Connect math homework that takes time. just moves so fast , you dont have time to comprehend. I only attended class once a week and learned things on my own from youtube. Try to get a high grade on the homework so that it can help your grade. She does drop your lowest grade. i ended with a B.
Shroyer really tries to make you do well in Algebra. I am not good at math, but still did good on all the exams. Class is not mandatory, but it is still important that you go. The tests are exactly like the review.
If you are bad at math , she is definitely not the one, she will literally go over everything fast, is horrible at math, makes mistakes and if someone asks a questions recommends office hours , save your money and time , will not bump not even half a point for you, you learn everything through connect math, leaves so much homework, worst professor
I liked the way she lectured but she assigned a lot of online homework to do and some of it didnt go with the notes in class. She is really nice and has great style
I was hoping she would teach the material well, but she barely taught it at all. It was more note-taking than teaching. She wasnt harsh on attendance, but did not give any extra + for showing up. She sent out a super passive-aggressive email to her students when they werent happy w their grades, and wouldnt round them either. Ended with a 68.9!
I loved her. I only went to class because I enjoyed her and how she tries to make it as fun as possible. Her lectures were based off note-taking that some people wouldn't find helpful. I learned more from the online homeworks than in class. Also, if you study the study guide she gives you and goes over, you will do well on her tests.
She's very sweet but she's a very fast teacher and doesn't do all of the examples on the notes which makes the homework very hard. if you're pretty good at math you take her, but if you're not you'll definitely have to spend time at the math lab. she also gives study guides which have questions from the test but they are very very long.
I took her online for summer and she didn't even teach the material. She recorded herself and had a TA just play the videos over Zoom. She's way too much and after assigning the first project she accused everyone of cheating and forced everyone to show up on Zoom calls for her to watch. She's not helpful. Terrible teacher. Do not take her class.
Professor Shroyer is a really sweet person but I didn't learn much from her teaching. She posted pre-recorded videos so we didn't have the chance to ask questions. She made a lot of mistakes in almost every video but she's very passionate about her teaching and is very caring towards her students. The homework is a lot so don't procrastinate.
If youre bad at math like myself DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THE TROUBLE OF TAKING HER CLASS! It will be very hard to pass its a lot of homework & she doesnt give extra credit although shes sweet dont get me wrong but shes not very understanding I feel in the middle of a pandemic she couldve treated us a little better & with more care
Shes very sweet and nice but the class is SUPER hard to pass unless you really like math and studying. All the lectures are in video form they can be really long. All the notes you have to watch and fill out. Homework is annoying because you have a homework with 15-20 questions for each unit of that section. There is no extra credit.
Just watch her provided lecture videos each week, take notes, and do the homework every week. Very easy to fall behind in this class, so stay on top of everything each. I had an A the entire semester and did not study for the final and it brought me down to a B, so definitely refresh on everything before the tests. Besides that, easy flowing class.
her lectures are straight trash and the way she teaches is bad. she tries to teach but the way she puts math into words is terrible. she confuses everyone in the class and at one point I remember we spent 30 minutes on one problem and everyone was confused. yeahs shes a good person and a cool professor but does not get the job done.
Honestly if you cant self teach yourself math DO NOT TAKE HER especially if your doing online classes. I suggest taking one of her face to face classes. She has online classes and she does post videos of canvas but there is too much connect math hw dont do it all the night before because its going to take more than one day to do it all good luck.
She gives us test reviews that tell us what's going to be on the test and just changes the numbers on the test. She's a sweet professor but her teaching methods can be confusing. If you're good at math you should be fine in this class but if you struggle a bit with it, it'll be a risk taking her class
Prof. Shroyer is super nice, and is really understanding about absences and disabilities. Her grading criteria is clear and she explains things very well. She is accessible in office hours and has lots of extra credit. She does NOT post completed notes, and you have to attend class to get the notes. Otherwise, she was wonderful and I learned a lot.
DO NOT take this class, at least not online. I am already bad at math, and Professor Shroyer compounded this with errors in her own lectures. Be prepared for homework not lining up with lectures either. Btw, she doesn't offer extra credit, even if she's aware you're failing her class.
Professor Shroyer, she was very sweet but her teaching style is very confusing, it was more self taught for myself. She does offer extra credit, lots of homework. Sometimes lectures have nothing to do with homework.
mrs. shroyer was super nice and understanding. sometimes she would go a bit too fast during lecture but she would catch herself and slow down. also, her lectures were pretty easy to understand, but she would spend way too much time on certain things and then we would run out of time in class. overall a good prof though
Even though attendance wasn't mandatory, you still better go because Shroyer goes really fast and is sometimes hard to understand. If you dont show up, its going to be hard to catch up. Just make sure you take some time to go to MathCats if you dont understand any of the information. Also do the study guides they will help you at the end.
I experienced one of the worst semesters of my life in the spring of 2014, had several major family emergencies, and ended up missing about a month of class. Leslie worked with me during office hours as often as I would show. After everything, missing tons of homework, quizzes, Still managed a B. If you show her effort, it will be reciprocated.
She's a nice professor but teaches class like we are in elementary school. Her tests are pretty easy as long as you do the review and she lets you bring a notecard as a cheat sheet. There was a lot of homework for the class but I think they are changing it for next year. Overall she was fine.
In terms of my experience, she was on maternity leave for the first half of the semester. I had an A which immediately dropped to a D when she came back. She threw 3 quizzes a week and homework on top of that on the class and didn't seem to care that no one knew the material before taking a test. No curves were given and extra credit was impossible
Prof was really nice but she was on maternity leave and when she came back after being gone for a month and a half she threw a test at us for the next week. She goes very fast during lectures and doesnt explain how to really work the problems.
Shroyer is a very sweet and understanding professor. Her test is literally her review just changing a few of the values in the equation. Each completed review that is turned in is 7 EC points towards the final, which replaces your lowest test grade. I highly recommend taking her because as someone who is not great at math I actually understood it.
I loved prof Shroyer! She was soo nice! Her notes were so organized and she had many many examples. Her tests we very similar to the hw and study guides. 10/10 would recommend.
She was super understanding making sure we understood before she moved to the next problem. Shes really sweett and gave extra credit which were test reviews(which were very similar to the test)
Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll do bad if you skip. Class material isn't really available online. Her notes and lectures are clear and organized, I never had trouble understanding a topic. Do the test reviews because they are extra credit and the tests are very very similar to them. Overall she's super nice and I liked her a lot!!
Leslie is a very kind women. You can for sure tell she cares about her students, and wants them to succeed. Her notes are super organized. She is veryyy strict on the syllabus. Sometimes her teaching style can be confusing, but going to Math Cats really helped if you are lost. She gives extra credit towards the final if you do the reviews.
The material was not hard, but she has rather confusing ways of teaching and explaining. I had to teach myself a lot of it while doing the homework. If you do all the homeworks & get 100s, the tests won't affect your grade much. If you're bad at math and need extra explanations or help, I would take another professor.
Definitely have to study and make time to understand the material outside of the class. I always thought I was really good at math until I walked into this class. The good thing is you get extra credit on your final and the extra credit really helps to prepare you for all her exams.
She is a very easy teacher. I would recommend going to class even though attendance is not required. Do the reviews! She takes the test questions from the review and you can receive extra credit for doing them. Her notes are not very helpful because the homework is harder than the examples in the notes.
Shroyer was an amazing teacher! I attended every lecture, and ended the class with a 99.4 average. My biggest advice: DO. THE. REVIEWS. They are very similar to the tests.
Prof. Shroyer is not the greatest lecturer but it is easy to teach yourself the material. DO THE EXAM REVIEWS, they'll help you prepare for the exams and the extra credit is well worth it. And GO TO MATH CATS, they will help out A LOT!!! If you work diligently, you'll pass the class.
She is not a great lecturer. She is a sweet woman but her lectures are very confusing. She rambles a lot and it makes it very confusing. The test reviews are 50 questions and are all over the place, so you can't even narrow down the material needed for the test. If you are not great at math , don't take her class.
Tests are only 15 questions and HEAVILY effect your grade. Lots of homework, does 3 homework drop grades at the end of the semester. Test reviews are sometimes so similar that it messes with your head. Attedance not mandatory but I would not recommend skipping
Easy enough when attending lectures and doing the homework. She moves a little fast so it's important to come to class with the notes ready (she gives you a big pdf of notes to fill out along with her) and ready to keep up. I took the class in a leture hall so I didn't get a good feel of her personally, but she presented as kind and experienced
She's a really good professor just make sure you don't skip her lectures even though it's not mandatory. She had to leave towards the end of this semester but even then she managed to keep everything the same structure wise. Make sure to do the reviews, those things help a lot!!! Everything you may encounter is in those reviews so DO IT!!
She made her expectation/syllabus very clear which was nice The tests are heavy weightage therefore DO THE TEST REVIEWS! They are very similar to the test and she allows a flashcard. A lot of homework and its time consuming. I would recommend her if you're willing to put in the effort but if you're not good at math then take someone else. Good luck
She is very patient, understanding, and wants her students to succeed in her course. She also gives a lot of extra credit if you complete the test reviews. Her notes are also very clear, well explained, and organized. Attendance isn't mandatory, but strongly recommended in order to do well in this course.
She was a good professor. Attendance isn't mandatory but it's a good idea to go in order to grasp concepts better. She rambles a little but not awful. Her tests are based off review questions, so do the reviews... also you're allowed two sides of a notecard for the tests. However, I found that the final was not like the tests we were told to study.
Shroyer was one of the best math professors I've had. She has a way to make math actually fun and easy. She never gets frustrated and always takes the time to answer any questions you may have. If I had attended class I definitely would've had a higher grade however, attendance isn't mandatory.
I liked her, but due to the nature of the course, went through topics very quickly. I took a similar course in HS, but others who didn't were getting left behind. Left for maternity leave after Test 2 and made sure Dr. Shroff followed how she was teaching, but a transition mid-semester is going to have issues. Allowed 1 notecard of notes on tests.
Professor Shroyer is the best teacher I have had so far at Texas State. She is very nice and understanding, and takes time to get to know you. She gives lots of extra credit, reviews, and makes the test very similar. I was worried about my grade for this class coming into this semester, and I am sitting at an A with the semester almost over.
I was absolutely terrified to take this class, but she made it super easy. The material is well paced and she always lets us out early. The tests are taken from the reviews and she allows a 3x5 note card. There's no extra credit, but homework is weighted heavily. She drops the lowest test grade and always answers questions clearly when asked.
She is an excellent professor. All of the tests are based on the review she gives; if you study it, you'll do well. She also allows us to use a 3x5 note card for the test. You must attend the lecture to fully understand the subject, but she explains everything as she goes and answers any questions students may have.
I liked Mrs. Shroyer, even if her lectures could rarely keep my attention. She was very nice and helpful when needed. The content is hard if you're not big on math, but the homework helps, and she does make the tests as easy as possible. Significant extra credit is given, and you can fill both sides of a notecard for all three tests and the final.
Shroyer is a very sweet lady, but not a great teacher. She makes a lot of mistakes in her equations that the class needs to constantly correct her on. Another grievance I have is she's not great at explaining, and will rush through problems. She makes reviews, which are great and if you study them you will do good on the tests.
Professor Shroyer is a very kind lady, but I found her lectures hard to follow. She goes over the material fast, and it is hard to understand. The homework is way more difficult than the notes, but the material can be taught to you on Youtube. Do her reviews, they are very similar to the tests. Work hard and you will be fine.
very nice, family-oriented vibes. kind of talks to you like you're a kid, but she has toddlers and her other main class is elementary math so it makes sense. homework is heavy-weight though, warning.
This class was at 9 am so I had a tendency not to go. When I did go she was very sweet. She messed up sometimes but was happy when she was corrected. Tests are in person and cannot be made up. DO THE REVIEWS!!! Studying is very important.
Shroyer was a great lecturer! She is super sweet and very helpful during her office hours. She did mess up on problems occasionally and rushed through some of them, so if you don't understand them, attend office hours or YouTube them. Homeworks are worth more than you think and reviews are just like the tests. SO STUDY.
This professor is super sweet and cares about her students and whether they understand the information. I would definitely take this professor over any other!
I used to struggle very badly with math all my life, but her class helped me understand every single lesson we went over. I never felt lost throughout the entire year because she prepares you so well with her notes and lectures. She is very good at communicating with students, and just an overall amazing professor in every way she can be.
She's really bubbly and a great professor! Her work was easy and I only took one exam throughout the whole semester. If you miss class you can make up the notes. She does require you to print off blank notes. She does respond to emails late so be prepared for that. Other than that, I would love to take her class again!
Lecture attendance is not for a grade, but you will struggle if you do not go to class and learn. Homework is given over every small unit you learn-- do the homework. There are many homework assignments, & it helps your grade a lot. There are 3 tests & she makes them easy. You get a small cheat sheet & she gives reviews very similar to the test.
Truly amazing teacher, I've always hated math but I definitely learned so much from her and understood it well. Attendance wasn't mandatory but being in class was so helpful for tests. We were given reviews that matched her tests almost exactly. So pay attention in class, and do the review guides and you'll be fine.
Math is hard for anyone :( but she was clear and good better than my friends math teachers. she only has 16 questions on test and you are allowed a note card. The test reviews are for extra credit.
Sweetest soul you will ever meet, has a sweet and nice personality. Gives out extra credit, unlimited tries on homework, REVIEWS ARE A LIFE SAVER FOR TESTS AND ALLOWS A NOTECARD which has helped me so much. She does go FAST, and I struggle with math a lot, so I definitely did struggle a bit but going over the review by myself was what helped me.
Her class was great, she knows what she's talking about and she's extremely sweet. She is always willing to help and is very empathetic with students. She made math easier to understand for me personally, especially when I'm not the best at it.
Honestly this lady is the sweetest woman on planet earth, love her. I just could not keep up with her teaching style and the workload. If you are not quick to pick things up and are taking a lot of other classes on top of this one, reconsider taking this class at the same time. She just goes way too fast and does not give a lot of extra credit.
She was better than other 1316 professors definitely better than Albach DO NOT TAKE ALBACH.
People tend to bash her but I enjoyed her class. She lets you use note cards for the test and her review replicate her tests as well just different numbers. She is very sweet and always asks about your day and is always willing to help.
Explained topics well, just attend class and take notes. One note card allowed for exams
Very sweet, constantly asks about your day and lets you interrupt her class if you don't understand. Provides test reviews which are 80% identical to the test. Homework is self-paced you get almost weeks to do it and can work ahead(If you do it 3 days before due date you get 5+pts). Allows front and back note cards for test which are very useful.
Very kind lady her teaching style is a little quick but she really sets her students up to pass. Her tests are almost idnetical to her reviews. do the reviews and you will pass this class for refrence im horrbile in math but this class is really solid for people who struggle with math.
She really wants her students to pass and she allows notecards on the tests. As someone bad in math i actually learned a lot from her class. she does give a lot of homework but it's a easy grade. Reviews are almost identical to the test.
She was an alright professor, went through lectures very fast but if you went over the HW, you should be fine. Do the test reviews as they're practically copy and paste tests ( i got lucky and got the review as my test word for word, number for number).
I am bad at math but she made it feel so easy. Her teaching is a bit fast but she's always willing to help and she really does care for her students. The reviews she gives out are identical to the finals and she lets you use notecards on certain tests. I recommend her!
She was very nice personality-wise. She made math a little more approachable. The class is so much better with going to off was only difficult because I struggle with math, but her office hours helped so much as well as a good study group. Some of the homeworks are difficult to complete due to how technical it is (open answer).
