Yes this professor can be very unorganized, but her lectures are very interesting and she makes the class fun. There is also A LOT of extra credit, very easy, and except for in the essay tests she does not grade very hard (and she curves the tests), so honest there is no reason to get a bad gra in this class.

Even though I received an A in the class, it was the worse class I had to take at CSUN as of yet. I never knew what I needed to study exactly for the test. I had to read the whole text to be semi ready for the exams. Only 1/2 of the material was on the test. There are three of them.It was confusing, uninteresting, difficult.Extra credit saved me.

She was completely disorganized. The tests had nothing to do with the lectures and didn't seem to always be based on the text either. There were two assignments and two exams. When I took the final I hadn't received my midterm back. I had no idea how I had done. The writing assignments and extra credit saved me but I bombed the exams.

She's unorganized. I'd drive out to CSUN for this class only to have her show us a 20 minute video and then say we're done for the day. Lots of videos and movies. Exams were seemingly random, not based on book or lecture. She would read off the exam the class before, you had to try and copy down questions as quick as possible.

If you like history, you probably won't after taking this class with Professor Smithers. She's a nice person, but the class itself is kinda crap. Only 3 grades the entire semester: midterm, a writing assignment, and the final. Her powerpoints are merely outlines; all of the lecture she delivers orally, and faster than you'd expect. You're gonna have to ask her to repeat some things. You may need to go to her office hours to catch up on things, especially if you missed even one class.
