She is awesome! Best chemistry professor yet! She is very approachable, she drops your lowest lab grade and gives accurate reviews. She is easy to understand!
She is a very good professor for lab. Go to lab. Do the experiment. Copy the steps to finish the lab report. Submit lab report next class. Take 3 lab exams, for which she gives you review WHICH REALLY REALLY HELPED!! Easy A if you do all the work!!! She is a new professor and is good at what she does!! Very good lab professor!!! TAKE HER!!!
A printer should be a required material... She emails a lot of handouts. If you're one of those people who needs to know what is going on in class, don't take this. Also, because of her teaching style, you will have a harder time in a lab class with a different, more rigorous professor.
I learned so much in Chem II Lab with her. She explains everything very clearly, and writes on the board the math needed to solve lab problems step by step. She was so much better than my Chem I teacher. She gives a review for her exams which helps a lot. TAKE HER YOU WILL LEARN A TON OF CHEMISTRY.
Professor Villalobos is a very good teacher, she always helps student with any question and gives a lot practice before test and quizzes. I would definitely will take her again. :)
This teacher is horrible as far as her teaching ethics go. she is very unclear, she gives almost no homework but expects you to know everything for the test, I failed this class and ended up having to take it over. and I got her AGAIN!!!! I couldn't switch. I have no idea how she got a good rating almost the whole class is failing.
I took Dr. Villalobos over the summer for the lecture and the lab. She works out problems a lot which makes you understands the material. It is chemistry you must study her notes. Ask if need , she is very helpful professor. I got an A.
Take her , you will not regret.
Take notes. STUDY your notes. Do ALL study guides they are a big help. She's great.
Professor Villalobos was hands down the greatest teacher, everything you needed was right there in front of you. Take your notes, do your part and you will do perfect. She always gave us the equations during the test because there were many equations to remember. She always gave us practice probs. She's very funny and straight up with you.
Love her. Honestly the best professor I've ever had, I took her for CHM1040, and I'm about to take her again in 1046. totally recommend her
Professor Leslie is great! In her lectures she explains everything very clear. If you have questions she won't hesitate to help you. She gives practice tests which make this classes easier. Also, if you email her with any questions she replays. I will also be taking CHM 1046 with her. SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER TAKE HER!!! She gives all the material!
Professor Villalobs is an amazing. Chemistry can be hard but if you are willing to learn she will take her time to explain, she writes very fast but just ask her to explain what is going on, she would gladly explain. She does give reviews which are similar to her exam. So study, study, study and you will pass the class. Final is easy I got a 98%.
I love love and I mean lovee her!!The nicest most down to earth professor you will ever have. She is there 100% for her students and does whatever she can to help you. I'm currently in a different course(I would've taken her again but she wasn't teaching it) and I still go to her for help. Overall she is AMAZING!! I would advise anyone to take her
She is amazing!! Take her , I promise you will not regret it!
She's AMAZING! Yes, chemistry is a hard subject but if you go over the material, study & practice, you will do just fine. She's always there for her students, organized, witty, very approachable, doesn't mind repeating herself, or meeting up during her office hours for help. I took her for CHM1040, CHM1041, and signed up for CHM1046 next semester!
She is a GREAT professor. Gives all you need to study, from study guides to practice test to power point that you can print at home and read to prepare yourself for the exams. You will have exams during the semester and a final, no midterm. She'll help you and will go over whatever you need... I took all the chem with her and got A :)
She doesn't go over the book because sometimes those "fancy" terms throw you off, so just take her notes! Obviously, she has to get theoretical sometimes and that's why she sends you around 10 slidestest through D2L. Her 2 grading systems are for your benefit too. I took 1040 w her also and mostly everyone got an A. She's by far one of the best.
Seriously take her! I'm horrible at Chem and I got an A! She teaches the class as if we're children, which is perfect, because we are when it comes to chemistry! She explains everything, no book needed, just take notes, review, and ask any question you have. She'll help you in anyway she can. A+!!
Chemistry lab was my weakness given this was my second attempt. The professor went out of her way to explain the materials so you can have a better understanding. She made comprehending organic chemistry easy compared to my last professor. I would highly recommend her for chemistry. Don't be afraid to ask for help she'll always make time for you.
Soft spoken, so sit in the front to hear her best. She is extremely nice, but reserved which can be intimidating to approach for help. But she is eager to explain the material. All the exams are based on what you learn in lecture, despite the practice exams having things you haven't learned. Take notes, study them rigorously, and pass with an A.
A good professor. Sticks to the syllabus. Practice tests are more complicated than the actual tests, if it is not on her notes, it won't be on her test. 4 tests (2 online) 50%theory/50%calc tests are fair, 1 quiz, one final cumulative relatively easy, 75% theory 25% calc. Easy/short/online HW. No book necessary/lots of notes. Attendance helps.
I love this professor. She is very understanding & she knows chem isn't 4 everyone so she is always wlling to help. Be 1 of those students who go to her office hours, she WILL help you. Plus there is no textbook, and plus when you learn the material the tests will be super easy. Only thing is she is a little softspoken so hard to hear her at times
Professor is good but what I don't like is in lab she does not explain and go over how to do things. She gives you questions and an answer key online for a review but when you take the test make sure you know what your doing. Don't get me wrong she will help if you ask. Just if you take her for lab also do so for lecture to be on one accord.
She is good. She just talks really low and soft. Chemistry isn't an easy subject so don't expect everything to be peaches and cream. Her test and reviews don't really mesh sometimes but the homework questions are on the test. If you ever have any questions she is willing to help like that's when her voice raises. There is no book req. TAKE HER!
Look, I get chemistry is not for everyone, but I use to love Chemistry with previous professors, they took their time to review and if people didn't understand it, she would go over and over the same thing until the class understood it, in this class it's either you get it or you don't. Half the time she doesn't even explain and moves on too quick.
Prof. Villalobos is amazing at what she does. Tests are easy if you study. Take notes and review them and the homework and you will pass with no problem.
Dr. Villalobos-Rivera is by far THE BEST chemistry professor I have had. She is very easy going but you NEED to study for the tests and quizzes! I used coolchemtutor com a lot during the semester - I highly recommend it!
She is an awesome professor . She makes you work to know the basics of chem. Focus in the conversions. I would take her again. If you need a professor to teach you, chose her. She will explain everything. If you have any questions, she will answer them.
Not a fan of chemistry, but she does a good job teaching. She knows her stuff. Pretty challenging class though. One of the few classes you gotta study *in advance* instead of just the night before a test. Not the most difficult class ever, but I'm glad I'm done with chemistry.
She TEACHES chemistry. She is not the kind of teacher who reads what they see. She explains you everything. She makes sure you will pass the class. I will take her again!! It's worth it!!
AMAZING TEACHER!!! Take her for every class that you need (if she teaches it)! She is really awesome at explaining difficult material. Chemistry is not an easy class however, she makes it seem easy and doable. She is always willing to explain and go over concepts you don't understand. One of the best teachers Broward College has, hands down.
Shes ok. I got an A in the class but im not a chemistry major and this class was very hard. She speaks very softly so lectures are boring and hard to understand but if u work hard and use the tutors u can get a good grade. no extra credit! emailed her a few times asking for extra credit and got no answer. take her but u will work for ur grade.
She is amazing! She is so ready to answer any questions or explain further if anyone needs it. The way she teaches chemistry is so uplifting for those who think that they are not good at chemistry because with her you will actually get it. Dont get me wrong, you do need to take notes and pay attention but if you do that youre set. Take her!
Before her I used to hate chemistry, now not so much!! She is one of the best professor at Broward College. She cares for her students, take her time to explain everything & is always available after class if you still have questions. I love her and I wish I could take all my chem classes with her.
Coming from the person that hates chemistry, especially since it had been 2 1/2 years since I took Chem I, she is awesome. Through 2 tests so far, got A's on both and have 100% in the class. Keep in mind that it is chemistry and it isn't an easy A. She doesn't require the textbook, just go to class, practice her online packets and you will do well.
Will have to work hard for your grade. She takes time to explain everything but her voice sounds dead. Not helpful. Won't take again.
Chemistry isn't easy but, she explains the material very well without use of a book. If you do the practice problems on d2l you will do fine. You must make it a priority to study the material or you will not pass. I hated Chemistry and did not do well when taking it in high school. I passed this class with a B and will be taking her again for 1046.
I hated Chemistry and did not do well when taking it in high school. I passed this class with a B and will be taking her again for 1046. If you make it a priority to study for this class using her problem sets on d2l you will do fine. All of the test's are consistent with the lectures.
Professor Villalobos-Rivera is an AMAZING teacher!! She makes Chemistry easy to understand. Take her for lecture!!! I don't recommend her for lab, I heard she was hard.
Mrs Villalobos is a great teacher! She is very clear and explain the subject very well. That's the second time I took her and I didn't regret it! You just have to take her to see!! She is one of the best science teacher at BC!!
She's a nice person but talks so low. I like the way she teaches chemistry, I was so afraid to take it I'm pretty much a chemophobic. Keep in mind you MUST put in time and effort to study and you HAVE to work for your grade. Her tests are ok. But she's a good choice and she's funny :)
I took her for the lecture and the lab and I didn't regret it! She is not so bad in lab as the comments suggested it. The way she set up the class, her grading method make it hard to fail the class. It's only when you take this professor, you'll understand how amazing she is!!
She is the best Professor I have had a BC. I love chemistry after taking 1040 and 1045 with her. She makes everything so clear, and the class is very fair. There are quizzes before every lab, easy 4 or 5 questions. Two exams, and like 12 labs that you will get full credit for if you show up and do the lab. Great professor overall
Best chem prof to take. Failed chm 2 before, passed with a 98 with her. Breaks down info very well. Easy to work with and very understanding. If it's not in her notes, it's not on the exam. Do problem sets & exam reviews a few times each, review your notes and you should do very well. Some exams have extra credit questions.
She's a good professor, but her voice is monotone. No textbook needed and homework and quizzes are through D2L. Her lectures are very good though, and if you do her problem sets on D2L as well as the practice exams she provides and understand the questions, you will do well on the exams. Got a C on first test and ended up with A in the class.
Chemistry is a tough subject, the way Professor Villalobos teach chemistry is unique and easy to understand. She also gives a lot of extra credit. If you put a lot of effort into the class you won't fail. Professor Villalobos is best chemistry professor
This teacher in my opinion should be at least 4.5. Best teacher ever!! Caring and know her stuff!! Please take her, you won't regret!
SHE IS GREAT!! take her now. I took her for lab and lecture and wish i would have taken her for chem 1. just stop questioning it and take her. I hear that there are easier lab professors out there but I do not know. show up to class-not required but required if you want a good grade. just make sure you take her for lecture 100% NOW
Villalobos is the best teacher I've had in a while. She cares for her students and aims to help them learn and succeed. Chem is hard to grasp and understand, but she is willing and able to help you pass the class with the grade you want. 10/10 would recommend her to anyone.
One of the best professors Ive had in a while. Very helpful and clear on what she wants. There are 3 tests and a final. All the tests are doable and not too hard if you study her notes and do the practice exam she gives out. Very helpful and knows what she is taking about. She wants you to succeed. Her lectures are very boring but helpful
She's a good option if you are taking the lab and the lecture with her. The content doesn't really help the lectures, and she's not very dynamic with the class, but she's helpful if you ask, and she'll provide you with all you need to get a good grade in the class and hopefully understand the basics of chem.
She breaks everything down as much as possible. She gives great examples and carefully explains everything. Not much work just 3 tests, 3 homework's and quizzes are in groups. Easy A as long as you go over your notes before each exam,
Grab a large coffee before class. Professor Villablobo's monotone voice combined with her long lectures is as potent than a Tylenol PM. During her lecture it is funny to see the amount of people with their heads bobbing in struggle to stay awake.
Villalobos is incredible. I never really had a professor before who was able to break things down so well, but I swear this lady is a savant level note-taker. Her notes, which he writes in class for you to copy, are incredibly clear and organized. She's very gifted in that regard. It's chemistry, so it's not like it's easy, but she makes it doable.
Great professor, you don't really need a textbook but if you're not a science person its going to be a very tough class.
Professor Villalobos is amazing. Her notes are well organized and easy to follow. She is so fair with her grades and gives many extra credit opportunities. This is one caring and sweet teacher. And she is absolutely beautiful. I am grateful for such a wonderful angelic professor. The world needs more like her.
I took this as a 12 week summer course. The class composed of 3 exams & final (100 points each) , 3 quizzes (all together 100 points), 30 points attendance and extra credit (up to 20 points). she is an amazing teacher, Chem itself is a tough subject but if you study and practice, you'll do fine; she is the best teacher to take for this subject!
One of the best. No surprises on the exam. She speaks low, my advice is to sit in the front. A lil bit accent. I love her.
She inspired my love for chemistry. SO easy to follow and can be helpful during office hours. I love her. I had her for 2 semesters and would take her again if I could. Your grade will reflect the effort you put in
Took her blended class. Chemistry is a difficult class in general so get ready to study hard. If you understand the material then the tests arent hard. Her class was once a week so all lectures were online. If you get As on the quizzes and homework you wont fail! A lot of EC opportunities.
Her class isn't all that difficult (for a chemistry course) even though she could work on providing lectures that incorporates more examples. Put in the work you'll pass, nothing is given in this course. I would also not recommend taking the blended version, as I did.
Professor Villalobos is amazing, she makes sure to provide lectures that you can literally write the exact way she does and understand it completely. She provides many extra credit opportunities and also gives advice on the best way to study which helped me pass with an A. I also recommend utilizing the Chemistry Lab to really grasp what you learn.
Professor Villalobos is hands down the best science professor I have had while attending Broward College. Although chemistry is generally a tough course she teaches in a way to help all understand, and if there is any question she will be quick to answer. Test are a bit challenging, but extra credit is always given! LOVE HER! Take her class!!
Professor Villalobos is probably the only professor I will do this for. I have taken her for CHM1045 and lab as well as CHM1046 and lab and she is hands down the best chemistry professor broward college has to offer. Ive dropped chemistry classes twice because no one compared to her teaching. Just trust me and take her, its worth going to north.
I love this lady! I loved how she taught and I understood all concepts. Its a lot of information which requires memorization. She is really nice and chill. In this class your grade will basically come from your exams. Im not the smartest and I passed all exams. Just study and pay attention in class. GOOD LUCK!
Awesome professor! Super chill and knows her stuff. Really enjoyed this lab, you just have to read the lab before hand and get a grasp on what well be doing.
I took chemistry in my last semester, and I have had approxiamately 30 professors while at BC. I cannot believe Prof. Villalobos has not been Professor of the year yet. I have had a class with a professor of the year, and while he was an excellent professor, he does not compare to her. Take her she will give you all the tools to pass. I love her...
Soft spoken, very organized, generous grader, gives extra credit. Explains material very well. You can pass without barely paying attention she makes chemistry so simple. make sure you go over the material online. she has recorded lectures for you to watch and re-watch until you get it. No way you can fail her class.
fav chem prof ever omg i miss u so so much. i took u for chem 1045 and i still use my notes from your class. im in 1046 now and its just not the same without u:( i miss u
GUYS! you need to watch bideo or you will not pass this class. If you are not prepared to do the work, "get lost" - Leslie Villalobos. If you are waiting for her to give you the answer, you will be waiting a verrryyy long time. Lastly 1 bun, 1 patty, and 1 cheese 1 cheeseburger. Good luck guys getting a A in this class.
If you need a good foundation for chemistry, take her class. She is very organized and breaks things down for students. She does not seem too excited when she talks (monotone), but she is a very good teacher. She gives a lot of extra credit. You don't need to buy the book.
I have her for CHM1046 and CHM1046 lab. For students that didnt have her for chem1 dont take her because she expects you to know everything already. Doesnt work out formulas for you, bad grader and content isnt helpful. If youre good at chem then dont worry because you will enjoy the struggle but for ppl just trying to pass... dont do it.
I took her for CHM1045 last year and it wasnt horrible(I ended with an A), but if you take her for CHM1046 goodluck. She expects you to know everything and Her tests are nothing like the practice exam.
She made this transition into online coursework because of COVID-19 terrible. On the first day of online she posted an announcement saying she will not read her email so we have no way of contacting her, we did not have a textbook, and she did not do lectures. She made it impossible to contact her. Used tutors for everything. Very tough grader.
Great professor, caring but very soft spoken. She gave extra credit and is always willing to help.
Prof. V is amazing and very caring. she cares about your success, but just like any class you have to work for your grade. It is a lot of material to go over so you have to study. She gives extra credit and she dose something special at the end of the semester.
DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF. We had to watch hour long videos on topics in order to complete problem sets. She had lectures, however the lectures were literally what she said in the videos that we were required to watch. Barely anyone in my class passed & she did not care. Majority of the students FAILED her exams due to the lack of teaching.
She's a nice professor, but if you want someone who is going to teach you the material, then do not take her. Her class consists of videos you have to watch, and then she will kind of review and go over it the following week. The exams are not like the homework or quizzes, so you really need to know the material to pass.
I took this class remotely during Covid, and it's a lot of work. All of the homework is on ALEKS and is due every week. She relies on videos to teach her students and gives poll questions every class, which is worth a grade. Her exams are pretty hard and are not like her quizzes. You really have to work hard in this class to get the grade you want.
You will learn! with professor Villalobos, students must learn chemistry to pass. This is not an easy class but she is there for students. She is always available, she offers extra credit and she understands students but you have to do your part. I will take her for CHM1046
Class is kind of mandatory. She gives poll questions which counts toward your grade, if you answer. Overall amazing teacher 10/10 would recommend. She teaches you the material, gives access to videos, and lets you use notes on the test. Gives problem set homework that you can use on the test as well. Highly recommend.
Chemistry itself is not an easy subject, but she definitely tries her best to make things as easy. I took the blended course and there are 3 tests, no midterm and an optional final. There is ALEKS w/ quizzes and there are also in-class problem sets which are the literally test. Have to watch lectures, on avg from 1h to 2, only one of them was 4h.
Professor Villalobos is very patient and calm, even-though her lecture is long but she teaches very clear and understandable. I wish she teaches Organic Chemistry if so I'll definitely take her.
She is a great professor; I wish I could take her again. She lets you use notes on the tests, which helps a lot. I took a blended class so there were a lot of videos to watch. As long as you put in the time and effort to watch the videos and do the homework you will do fine. She is a great professor, definitely recommend taking her.
Took a hybrid class, much of which I did was at home. Took her in person 1 day a week. Material was easy to understand, must watch videos prior to going to class. ALEKS, was your homework. Can be tough to get through, hardest part of this class. I did not take her for lab.
Absolutely amazing! If you are in the STEM pathway, I highly recommend her as a professor starting off or continuing. No textbook - only online practice/quizzes. She has three exams and a final, but taking a final isn't necessary if your grade is good. Most classes didn't take all of the scheduled time. Extra credit is given by completing quizzes.
The class is very easy especially if you8 already know chemistry, the professor likes to beat a dead horse when she explains very simple things and is very monotoned, not bad if that's what you need, just not for me. Its a very very very simple class.
Our classwork included ALEKS, self-assessment tests (not graded), 4 socratives quizzes, and 4 exams. Professor Villalobos provides notes that you can print out and fill out in class. Exams are open notes. The ALEKS homework is a lot and harder than the exams, but don't skip them since they provide good extra credit.
Took CHEM and lab with Professor Villalobos for summer. Some of the lab topics are ahead of class, so she provided the formula for some items in the lab reports. If you need help, you can stay for a little bit and she'll check if your calculations are correct. The hardest part are the pre-lab, post-lab quizzes and virtual lab. Final lab is virtual.
Prof. Villalobos's class was fine, but you can't use notes and she doesn't take late work.
Took too long to release grades.
I had this professor for chem 1045 BLENDED. She was very clean cut, all the exams we were allowed to use our notes and talk to the person next to us. The quizzes were on Aleks and we could do them as many times as we want. Overall, very easy class, chill prof it all just depends on your work ethics. Aka don't procrastinate and earn a C like me lol
I took the online version of this course and it was overall average, a good kind of average. I appreciate how the professor structured course + course-works given; she made it very easy to get a B and above, let alone passing with a C. If you cannot pass this class then STEM is not for you.
😭 I love her so much. Greatest Prof ever ❤️❤️
She was incredible. Very chill and laidback, very understanding, her notes are extremely helpful, she explains better one-on-one so please ask for help. Shes a 10/10 I need her to teach every single science class quite literally.
Professor Villalobos was very helpful and attentive. The class is homework-heavy, but her notes make it easier to understand the material. My biggest recommendation is to use all the resources available. It's also best to reach out to her through office hours for quicker assistance.
Don't take her online class. She doesn't have clear content / guidance throughout the course, she doesn't reply to emails, she doesn't provide you any teaching, you will need support because Chemistry is not an easy class. I am a straight A student, and because of her terrible class, ended up with a D that affected my GPA.
Professor Villalobos' class is challenging, but sticking to the materials and using tools like unstuck AI can really help. Mandatory attendance pays off with clear lectures.
Terrible teacher. Doesn't answer any of your emails or concerns, doesn't guide you through the course, doesn't post anything on the announcements and her video lectures are a torture. They are long video lectures and she is very slow and shallow teaching the topic. Pretty sure this positive reviews are fake. Good luck to ruin your GPA choosing her.
Be aware that she will affect your GPA negatively. I am not joking, her classes are very tough because she doesn't make it easy for you to learn. The videos are terrible and you have to fully teach yourself in this course. If you're not naturally great in hard chemistry don't take her.
she is terrible i had a 4.0 until this class
dont take this class
If you want to take this class be aware that you have to teach yourself because she's not great at teaching. Im taking organic chem 2 and my professor right now is surprised that this teacher didn't teach everything that's needed to take organic chem 2.
