Dr. Winemiller is such a great prof! she really loves what she is talking about and actually cares how well her students do! you will make an A if you study! take zoology!
She is very nice and extremely interested in her subject! She gives clicker points in class for attendance and short quizzes, which are very easy. Her tests are fair, and are reflective of the notes she gives in class. I never read the book unless I needed clarification on something. I definitely recommend Zoology!
Super beawesoming professor. Very clear in her teaching and explanation, and her exam reviews are there to prep you to excel. Even if you're just looking for a class to satisfy your science requirement, I highly recommend Dr. Winemiller's class, not only its fun, its very interesting. You'll love her and the value she carries and an educator.
Dr. Winemiller is EXCELLENT. The best professor I have had at Texas A&M. She really cares about her students and is very knowledgeable with the material. She is always available for help and the concepts are not only fairly easy but really interesting. The book is a great help but if you just study her lecture notes you can get a good grade.
Really great Professor! Reading is absolutely MANDATORY though to make anything higher than a C. But the textbook chapters are full of pictures and only about 20 pages long. She gives bonus points for attending class and answering questions
Great professor! Her lectures are interesting and the information is pretty easy to understand. Her tests do require a lot of studying though. No homework and there are bonus points throughout the semester. She is very approachable and truly cares about how her students are doing in the class.
Dr. Winemiller was a wonderful professor. She provided informational power-points and lectures which she seemed to base her tests off of. She gives a lot of extra credit and will help you if you ask. I hardly used that book, but as long as you go to class and take notes it is easy to earn at least a B.
lectures are interesting, and theres no homework, but tests are difficult
The test are very hard. Requires a lot of memorizing. Great professor who cares about her students!
Lectures sometimes drag but overall she's a very good teacher and makes hard information easy to understand. Her tests are very detailed and require a lot of studying but if you memorize everything you can do well.
Dr. Winemiller tries to keep the class very light, but of course there is reading involved. It's mainly stuff I learned all throughout high school and jr. high. She is definitely there if you have any questions. NEVER MISS LAB. EVER. She is great at giving visual representations of whatever it is we are going over in class. She cares about us.
Her lectures are tough, but Dr. Winemiller makes sure everyone understands. The lectures are necessary to pass the class. She doesn't teach directly from the book and her test come from what you cover in lecture and the corresponding lab. She is a great lecturer and shares a few personal experiences which makes her relatable.
There's only 4 grades for the actual lecture class which all 4 are tests. Her lectures are awesome because she incorporates personal stories and photographs. Attending class is a must and she gives bonus points through TopHat. Her tests are pretty straight forward if you know the material well.
I liked Dr. Winemiller. Her lectures are very clear, but sit near the front because she talks quiet. She gives extra credit points through TopHat. There are 4 tests, and they are hard but reasonable and based totally on the lectures. Remember that there is a lab with this class, which can be hard.
LOVE her! She was super helpful, especially in her office hours. Super approachable. Her tests are multiple choice & mostly contain application questions. I don't really like science classes, but her class was amazing. There is a lab with the class that can really help your grade.
Great professor. All the info for her exams came straight from her lectures. I used the textbook as a read-along to her lecture notes. She gives bonus points during every other lecture that will boost you up to the next letter grade. It is very possible to get an A if you show up to class everyday and study in detail about a week before the exams.
Overall class not too bad. Lecture is really long and she does take attendance. Exams are very similar to notes. If you put in the work you can definitely make an A.
Dr. Winemiller is a great prof! She has a lot of experience with the material so lecture is interesting. Really have to work for your grade, but there are tools that can help. SI sessions are great! Even if you know the material, it's so helpful! The lab was the hardest part, but if you get a good instructor, you'll be fine. Loved this class!
Dr. Winemiller is a fantastic professor. Her tests are very detailed so you do have to devote a lot of time to studying for them, but they're straight from her lecture notes. She is super sweet, very approachable, and very helpful during her office hours. Lectures are interesting and she is very passionate about the subject. Lab isn't too bad.
she's nice, attendance is required. slow moving class but a good refresher if you've already taken biology in high school
Really nice teacher! go to office hours with your TA and her! SUPERRR HARDDD CLASS!!! NOT EASY!
Dr. Winemiller is a teacher who loves to teach. She's very knowledgeable and her lectures are punctuated by jokes and videos - she wants everyone to do good. THIS IS NOT AN EASY A, but if you love science then take this course. Very interesting--tests are somewhat easy; do the work and you'll get a B or A. Beware of the lab, though. It's the worst
She's very clear in her lectures. She's a bit strict about time--she rarely lets you go even a few minutes early and often lectures 1-2 minutes over class time--but she uses all of the time well. Her lectures go over chapters from the book pretty clearly, so reading isn't incredibly necessary.
Attendance for class is necessary to understand material. Everything on the exams can be found in the notes. We receive our test the same day and the answer key is posted. Allows a challenge period after exams are posted to get points back. Lab isn't terrible compared to other science courses at A&M. Gives bonus points through TopHat.
You have to attend every class period for bonus points. Her lectures are broad and lengthy ad her exams are very detailed and specific. She said in office hours that the way to get an A in her class was to start studying for the exam the day you get home from every single lecture, aka a month before the exam. Very reading intensive to get an A.
Her lectures are long & have so much info. It's interesting but just long for 9:35 am class. Only way to get extra credit is by going to class. Barely passed this class for my major; lab isn't bad at all and actually was what helped my grade. Really gotta start studying for the tests after every single lecture if you wanna do well though.
BIOL107 is by no means a walk in the park, you have to work for your grade. The book was a good thing to reference to for clarification. Lectures can be long, but she tries to make them interesting as she brings lots of examples. Go to her office hours! Get to know her, she is a wonderful lady that might help your grade at the end of the semester.
Dr Winemiller is very passionate about what she teaches. There's extra credit with the questions that you answer that help out. Attendance is mandatory since you have to use TopHat to sign in with the attendance code. Tests not that bad. Not a too difficult course either. Overall a pretty solid professor.
Winemiller was a good professor for a Bio course. She taught the material well and made it clear what sections would be on the tests.
Dr. Winemiller is an amazing prof who really loves teaching this subject. However, I found this class to be extremely difficult. Her lectures were very long- she never ends early and will often go over a bit. You have to go class in order to get the information and get the TopHat bonus points. You really have to study for this class!
Studied so hard. Failed every test and ended up having to drop the class. Went to go speak to her and she told me I should consider changing my major. Usually the class average on the tests were 70% at its best (which is awful). I recommend taking ALL of your sciences at a community college. You will learn more and get a better grade from it.
Dr. Winemiller is the best. I took AP Bio in high school, but honestly, even if you didn't you'll be good. Everything you need to know for tests is layed out in her slideshows. Literally, study the presentations, make an A. I'm probably going to make a B in the course, but only because I didn't study at all for the second exam. TAKE HER!!!
The class was easy if you paid attention and took notes. Her lectures were from the powerpoints and tests covered that material. The textbook isn't needed but the extra reading really helps for the tests! Lab/discussion section was easy. Attendance wasn't mandatory but you take a open note quiz at the beginning which can only help your grade.
She is great! I have bee to her office hours 5 times this semester and she is very easy to talk to and very helpful. She is very knowledgeable and her lectures are organized so it is easy to take great notes. The class covers a lot so you will have to study but she also offers extra credit through bonus questions.
She's is really passionate about what she does!
Dr. Winemiller is an amazing professor and is really passionate about what she does.
Dr. Winemiller is an amazing prof. She is very passionate about the subject. The lectures are pretty long and you have to really study hard to memorize all of the material but it is very doable. The lab is three hours long and some of the quizzes can be difficult but it helps you understand what you're doing in the lecture.
She's a great professor, but you need to do fairly well on both the tests and lab to get a good grade in the course. I got a 70 on my first one and it kept me from getting the A.. Just make sure you put forth effort for each test and you'll be fine! She also gives out extra credit, so make sure to go to every class!
She cares about her students this class is just jam packed with so much information it's hard to know what to study. Lab is actually what ended up helping me. I was in the hospital for a week and she was fully committed to helping me catch up when I got back. Talk to her, she's helpful and nice. This class just has so much info, I barely passed.
Dr. Winemiller is a mediocre professor. She lectures for a long time and her voice can be monotone. She rarely emails back. Discussion section for this class is fairly easy, I really liked my TA Chloe Bennett.
Dr. Winemiller was a pretty good prof! There is no homework and attendance isn't "mandatory" but she doesn't post her slides online. Her lectures do seem to go on forevvvvver, which was the only downside to the course. She tells lots of stories about personal experiences in the field. Stay on top of things throughout the semester and its an easy B
There's a lot of info per class but definitely manageable. You need to study but nothing crazy. The hardest part were the TA quizzes that were apart of the "discussion section" which is basically a super easy lab/review session. Textbook was rarely used so if you really want it you could rent it. The SI sessions are extremely helpful.
Dr. Winemiller was a wonderful professor. However, this class is not a walk in the park. There is a lot of information! Be prepared to study! Do not take this class if you already have a huge work load/schedule because it takes up a lot of your time. Labs are okay if you have a good TA. Lab and extra credit saved me!!
Take Dr. Winemiller!! She is the absolute best! She makes her lectures interesting and interactive, since she brings specimens as examples to class. There's no reason why you shouldn't make an A in this class. She gives extra credit, study guides for each chapter and what she wants you to focus on in each chapter, and practice tests. TAKE HER!!
I took her my freshman year and you have to work for this class. Tests are hard and you need to study. Look over notes after each lecture and go to class!!!
If you're conservative, don't take from her if you don't have to. She occasionally takes something purely scientific and makes jokes about conservatism. You have to pay for an app called Top Hat to do additional work. Her tests are EXTREMELY specific about things only mentioned in the textbook, especially over people who discovered things.
Dr. Winemiller wants you to do well in her class. That being said, you have to actually study. Her exams are based on her lectures, which are easy to follow, but that means you NEED to go to class. She also gives extra credit opportuinites during her lectures. The lab difficulty depends on who you get for a TA, Megan was great!
Dr. Winemiller is very intelligent in Zoology and definitely knows what she is talking about. There are three exams and one final in the lecture portion of her class, as well as numerous quizzes, assignments, and practical exams in the lab portion. She also gives random bonus points in class, so don't skip! Not an easy class, but not impossible.
Dr. Winemiller is a great professor, and truly wants you to be successful. There are many study guides and things to help you do well in the class. There are extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. Overall it's an interesting class but I would not take it, or any other biology class for that matter, again.
She's a great prof and you'll definitely pass the class as long as you show up, listen and study, she also gives bonus points for some of the questions asked during lecture which helps. I definitely recommend taking very good notes in the lecture though, and study hard for the exams. There is a lot to memorize.
You don't have to go to class, but she gives out bonus points every few days. She gave out 22 points this semester, I think. She also is lenient about final grades for those who miss less than three lectures. Textbook is not necessary, but is a very good study tool.
She is an amazing teacher!! She has so many fun stories and has traveled everywhere. The tests are directly from the lectures, so go to class. Its really not that hard. The worst part about this class is the lab by far. Its long and boring and depending on your TA , can be super difficult. Class was awesome, lab was the worst part of my week.
Dr. Winemiller's tests come straight from lecture. She lectures straight from the book. Her class is boring, and you have to write quickly to get down all of the information. My hand felt like it was going to fall off after class every day. Dr. Winemiller posts study questions that are extremely helpful in reviewing for the tests. Use notes & book.
She was a pretty good professor and really cares for her students. She answered my emails right away, too. If you go to class, take detailed notes, go to SI sessions and study you should be okay. Also be sure to do good in the lab because that's 30% of your overall grade. Three midterms and a cumulative final along with lab assignments and quizzes.
I was told this would be an easy class, especially with acing regular biology. However, this wasn't the case. Dr. Winemiller is a great professor who cares deeply about her students. The class can be difficult at times, but not impossible. The tests are from lectures and lab can be challenging plays a heavy role in your grade. Bonus points offered.
Nice prof, tough class if you don't have a great Biology background. Don't recommend taking your first semester.
Her tests are way too hard for an introductory biology course. She does, however, care about her students.
Winemiller is an amazing professor who actually LOVES what she does. Her powerpoints are enough for you to get B's on the test but if you read the book you will Ace this class. Class is heavy on vocab so quizlet will be your friend. On top of that, her TA's for Labs are amazing too. Lab is probably the hardest because of the quizzes but doable
study a lot. her tests can be difficult cuz theres so much material on them. in class extra credit. attendance is taken everyday. you hAVE to study for lab quizzes. SHE IS THE MOST INTERESTING WOMAN EVER AND IS HILARIOUS I WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE HER CLASS AGAIN!!!
Most of her exams were based off lecture material. Show up to class!!! Around 20 points of extra credit was offered just for showing up and answering a question. She is super nice and loves what she does. The class itself is interesting and Winemiller shares some of her experiences. If you just need a bio class to graduate, take this one!!!!
Dr. Winemiller is an awesome professor! Her class is hard, but doable if you study. Its important to come to class, and worth it too because sometimes she will give bonus questions for extra credit. The semester is not even over yet, and I have almost 25 to add to an exam! Shes also understanding and genuine and wants to get to know her students.
Winemiller is a solid lecturer. She obviously knows what she is doing and is very clear and easy to understand in lecture. She does not post lecture notes, so it is very important you attend class and pay attention! The tests are difficult and take a lot of studying but it is manageable. Winemiller really cares for her students' success.
She works into her lectures amazing personal stories about whatever that really help us connect the concepts to the real world. This class is a lot of memorization, but she is super nice and willing to help, and that alone makes this class worth it! She offers tons of extra credit and really does everything she can to help you get a good grade.
LOVE Dr. Winemiller! She is well traveled and an expert in her field. She shares so many interesting stories and has a unique sense of humor. Tests all come directly from lecture but slides aren't posted so attendance mandatory. Lots of extra credit. Lab is pretty challenging but overall would take this class again & definitely a class from her!!!!
You really have to study for her tests. Textbook isn't really necessary, a lot of the test material are in her lectures... so GO TO CLASS. She also sometimes gives out bonus points randomly and those bonus points really helped me get my A.
There is a lab quiz for every lab and lab is worth 30% of your overall grade, 25 points worth of extra credit, she doesn't post her lectures on ecampus and attendance is taken for every class. The textbook is not required but it does back her lectures and is a good study tool. Dr. Winemiller is extremely wise and was always there to help.
This is definetly not an easy class. You really have to study and work hard. She does give out a lot of extra credit points randomly and takes attendance every lecture. She is really funny and easy to listen to.
She is so nice and very helpful in office hours. She is an expert in her field which makes class very interesting. Gives alot of extra credit bonus points. Test are based off of her lectures and some textbook points, do the study questions and practice exams and you should be good.
Dr. Winemiller is very good at teaching and cares about her students. Hard class. You will have to work for an A, but it is possible. You get extra credit points in class and the notes are very helpful, so GO TO CLASS. Lecture is definitely harder than lab, but the lab quizzes should be studied for.
Dr. Winemiller has been my favorite prof at A&M so far. Her lectures are amazing and she is such an interesting woman. Her exams are a moderate difficulty, but if you start to study 1-2 weeks ahead of time than you will be prepared. Lab is easy, it just sucks being in one room for so long. I couldn't recommend her enough. She is so amazing !!!!!!
I love Dr. Winemiller! Her class material was not too hard, but definitely requires studying time. Lecture was incredibly easy with the extra credit she gives. I did not have a good TA, but lab is only 30% of your final grade. Dr. Winemiller's office door is always open. She is so sweet and caring about her students. I definitely recommend her.
Super difficult class! I was doing fine in the beginning but the tests are too difficult. The questions aren't bad, but it's just not possible to contain all the info for the tests. The lab sucks because you have a quiz every week and the lab exams are difficult. Basically if you don't have good memory or 30+ hours a week to study, take @ blinn!!!
Took this class to get a biology credit, and was as easy as biology could get for someone who knows nothing about science. She's a very nice professor, but class can be uninteresting at times. she cares about her students so visit office hours as much as you can.
Winemiller is not only a great biology professor, but an amazing human being. She really goes out of her way to help her students and ensure their success. That being said, it's a biology class, so it can be moderately difficult. Lab was so fun and I learned so much in the lecture. This was one of my favorite classes and I cannot thank her enough.
I absolutely loved this class. Leslie Winemiller is seriously a genius. Her lectures can feel long sometimes because she is a bit monotone, but she is an expert in the subject and she cares about her students. Occasionally I had to read my textbook for clarification, but Leslie also had office hours in order for us to get help.
Dr. Winemiller is such a great professor. She really knows what she is talking about and even brings in items from her experience. Take advantage of extra credit opportunities! She gives plenty. Allow time for studying, the class gets increasingly difficult so stay on top of it and you will be fine.
You will want to attend lectures if you want to do well in this class! She gives out bonus points in class for questions she puts on the board throughout the lecture. SI sessions, office hours, and exam reviews were extremely helpful in preparing for each exam. She is very well travelled and includes her own pictures and stories in lectures.
The only reason I dropped out because I wasn't prepared but overall she was a great professor. The TA I had sucked and there are quizzes every week so the lab was pretty hard for me. during test you need to read over the questions carefully and she cares about her students. I would recommend going to office hours every week.
Dr. Winemiller is such a good prof! The class is on the difficult side but if you work for your grade then you can do it. She does bonus questions that are added to your lecture grade at the end so there are incentives if you go to class. Study hard and you'll do fine!
This class is not the hardest class, but definitely not a blow off class. There are 3 tests, & a ton of extra credit you can get from going to class. An A is obtainable but you will have to work for it in class, outside of class, and in lab. Dr. Winemiller is an amazing prof who actually wants to know her students. Office hours are great!!
Dr Winemiller is very passionate about her class. Her tests are very much vocabulary based and easy to pass as long as you understand the vocabulary from lectures.
Professor Winemiller is very passionate about the field of biology and it shows. Her lectures are filled with personal experience stories which makes it easier to pay attention to. She is a lot of help during office hours and is very caring towards students. She really wants students to succeed and do well. Exams are easy if you know the material.
For an A&M science course, this was on the easier side. No homework for the class, just stuff for lab. Winemiller is pretty nice and very approachable. Attendance is mandatory because she does not post powerpoints. Easy until you have to learn all the phylums and classes ( a lot of memorization). Manageable!!!!
Dr. Winemiller is a really great professor. I learned so much while taking her invertebrates class. The exams are pretty tough, but you can definitely get As if you study hard. Dr. Winemiller is fair and offers extra credit with TopHat. I really enjoyed this class.
Class has nothing to do with wildlife. You listen to people talk about their jobs for the whole semester and she interrupts them to comment on herself. Also a COVID nut
Professor was unclear about assignments and subjects did not relate to class topic at all. Grade will be lowered significantly if only miss one class. Poorly structured
Dr. Winemiller has been an incredible professor in both courses I've taken with her (Inverts + WFSC 101). Her teaching style is thorough because she is truly passionate and knowledgeable of her work. She's humble, approachable, and overall a great person to be around. If you apply yourself and follow along, you'll get an A.
Hands down best professor I've ever had at A&M. Professor Winemiller is very knowledgable and understanding which makes her very easy to approach with questions and/or concerns. She does a kahoot before each exam and gives out a prize to the top two winners. Her class was super interesting and engaging 10/10 would take again.
A 1 credit hour course, and only had three assignments. Because of this attendance weighs VERY heavily on your grade. Class just covers different professions in the industry so not always the most interesting.
One of the greatest professors in the department. Go to class and you'll receive an A. I also took her 313 course and was extremely enjoyable and fun.
I loved Dr. Winemiller. She is very nice and caring and she puts in the effort to help her students. This course was difficult for me because it involved a lot of memorization. But she gives many extra credit opportunities and good lectures. Attendance is recorded.
