she is a very easy teacher for lab and she is pretty cute
Awesome class! She's super easy to get along with and talk to. She will make science fun even for people like me who hate it.
she's a hottie
She is an all around great teacher to take. She helps you understand the material if you are having trouble and she definitely is patient and tries to explain it in a way that you will understand and get it. By far the best teacher I've had at West Valley. She makes learning fun and creates a good learning environment for everyone! :o) SHE ROCKS!
GOOD TEACHER TEND LAB CAN BE A LITTLE BIT DISORGANIZED, QUIZES AND TEST ARE EXTREMELY HARD,
Not very helpful. I felt stupid asking her questions. I never took a bio class before, and she made me feel like I should have known everything already. You take a quiz every class. Depending on the subject of the lab, they can be pretty hard. Not recommended.
She is a great person, down to earth and helpful. Unlike other burnt out teachers, she is fresh and excited to teach.
She is the far best teacher i have had since started college! She teaches in a way that is understandable and willing to help you in any way possible. There are quizzes that are helpful in preparing for the exam. Labs are quite interesting, just be prepared to do lab and you will be fine. Study, and be prepared and you are guarenteed to pass!
I was not excited about another Biology class, but Leticia's excitement for it made up for my initial lack of interest. She is helpful not only in class, but in lab as well. If you have a question, she is right there to answer it. I would take another class with her if I was not transfering out.
she was probably one of the best teachers i have ever had. Her teaching style is very organized which really helps. She is very enthusiastic about the subject and seems to really enjoy teaching.
LOTS OF MEMORIZATION!!! She makes the class a little bit more bearable by making quirky jokes and being goofy. Her lectures are 99.9% power point. All the lectures can be downloaded (I recommend doing this b/c she zooms thru them really quick!!) Tests are EXTREMELY difficult. ALL fill in/short answer/essay. Quizzes are T/F & M/C. Good LUCK!
Leticia is engaging and enthusiastic about the material, which helps a lot. Her tests and quizzes are difficult in that they are ALL fill in the blank/short answer and require a lot of memorizing/recall skills. Go over her powerpoint lectures and labs prior to tests, and you should do well. Didn't use the book very much.
Leticia Gallardo is very upbeat and she has a lot of analogies to help u understand concepts which are really helpful. She has quizzes for every unit (5 total), half ID, half MC. She gives some extra credit. Tests are about 30% ID, 30% fill blank, 5% T-F, and 35% short answer and essay. Easy A if you memorize her slides and can ID parts on cadaver.
I had a great learning experience with Ms. Leticia Gallardo, and I highly recommend her. She is very patient with students and cares about their progress in the class. Midterms are tough, but she gives extra credit assignment to make up for it. Easy A if you do your part in learning all the material (lab and lecture). Two thumbs up!
Leticia is awesome. Her class is challenging but her teaching style and personality makes it enjoyable, she has a pretty smile too. Very happy to have had her as an instructor. This class definitely takes mucho study time and effort. I guess I didn't really know what studying was until I took this class. An enjoyable @ss Kicking :)
Leticia is an outline for the perfect teacher. Her class was challegeing but it needs to be in the medical field. If you want a good grade you need to STUDY!Not so much the book but her lecture notes and labs. Memorization and understanding the concepts are the key. Exams are fill in the blanks and short essays. NO MULTIPLE CHOICE so know your stuff.
she has a good knowledge of her own material, but i don't recomment her class. especially to the ones are trying to get to any medical field.with good Aor B grade, forget her class ur wasting ur time.not much extra credit is given either.not much help, so ur on ur own. so need a better grade take it at mission college instead.
Leticia is one of a kind. Sharp as a tack, willing and patient to clarify the subject at hand. The only downsides are feeling somewhat intellectually inferior (at least with respect to BIO) and becoming distracted by this beauty; she is mesmerizing. Highly recommend.
She is with a lot of passion in teaching. And always with a beautiful smile. Overall, she's cool and easy!!!
Leticia is a good teacher with lots of knoledge. This is a great class to take alone, 5 units, heavy load. Lots of study time needed and memorization required. Fun in lecture. Have to take next semester because I had 12 units.
Great teacher. I really feared this class for more than just having to see a cadaver and dissect a cat, but overall I have learned so much and she is a great teacher. She always has analogies to help you remember things, they seem crazy but they work. She is fair, gives extra credit but her tests are difficult if you are not prepared. No book needed
she's an awful teacher do not recommend her at all. you'll be better off somewhere else, if you want to be successful in your career
she's not an easy going teacher, she will make you feel stupid if you ask questions in her class. even though i got an A in her class but i do not recommend her at all. she's way too much for a college level student who wants to move on to higher level of education.
GREAT TEACHER-MAKES CLASS VERY INTERESTING, TRIES TO TEACH YOU EVERYTHING SHE KNOWS, VERY HELPFUL. ALTHOUGH CLASS IS NOT EASY (ANATOMY SHOULD BE HARD, IMAGINE A DOCTOR NOT KNOWING WHERE YOUR FEMUR IS), IT IS EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE-I TOOK IT A YEAR AGO AND STILL REMEMBER EVERYTHING. STUDDY HER POWER POINTS AND CADAVERS AND YOU'LL DO WELL.
Taking her final this Wed but am sure I will get an A in the class. Anyway, she's super friendly. I love her! I've had a handful of West Valley Bio teachers and I think Gallardo has got to be the most welcoming and approachable of all. Her smile lights up the entire classroom! Her class is cool too, she is fair and I would def recommend her.
Anatomy is a memory drivin class. Down to the minute details. Leticia is a fantastic teacher, helps you apply it, gives many analogies and life examples to help correlate. Reading the book helps. But lecture notes are the main thing to study. She is sharp, extremely intelligent, and has a radiant smile that will help you get through this class.
One of the best classes I ever took. I work in the medical field, and to this day, still remember what she taught me. All her analogies, and little songs/stories really makes this stuff stick. I hope she teaches for a long time. She is Unforgettable.
This class was really hard and a lot of studying but I loved the class and the teacher. She has stories for everything that makes you remember. I would even recommend to take this just for fun you will learn about why your body does what it does!!!
Is she an angel? I'm not sure if she is an earthly embodiment of perfection or not. I do know that she is the model for a great teacher: very knowledgeable, organized, patient, and helpful. However, the burden is on the student in this class (as in all other classes). Your grade is a function of your effort and the efficiency and organization o
Laticia is one of my favorite teachers !! she is very patient with students and KNOWS HER STUFF..SHE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE SMARTEST PEOPLE I HAVE KNOWN IN MY LIFE! be prepared her class is very harddddddddd! you have to study at least 6-7 hours weekly to get a good grade
She is an amazing teacher and a great person also she knows her stuff as if she is born with it! I loved her class and loved her personality, hard class though but if you work hard it'll pays off.
Gallardo seems extremely disingenuous. I have a feeling that if you knew her as a friend she would be an entirely different and likeable person. Ridiculous long PowerPoint lectures (100+ pgs), doesn't get lectures out until the morning of, affected when she lectures, seems to not like teaching. Take Dr. Geary's classes instead!!!!!!!!!!
Leticia is one of the best teachers that I have had in a very long time. Her class is extremely difficult and you will need to study A LOT. She makes the class fun and she is very funny, helpful, and knowledgeable. She does need to work on getting the lectures up sooner. Other than that I would def. recommend her. Expect to work very hard!
Absolutely wonderfull professor! Very helpful and geniune. This is the second time I've taken a class with her. She does have a lot of content to her lectures but it's not so hard if you study and listen in class. And I've never seen her embaress a student, even if they may have deserved it...
Leticia is super cool and funny. She's so smart too, and will help you if you don't get the material. Lots of material, but if you study the lectures, you should be fine. Plus, she probably has the cutest and prettiest smile I've ever seen. Her dimples are soooo cute!!
leticia is hella hot... lots of time i would just stare at her and forget about the lecture.. lol. The class is hard but if you pay attention to the lecture you would be fine. The class is tough however she makes it easier and would always be glad to help out. She is funny. Im planning to take her biology of sex class or the Sierra Nevada one. lol
Ugh.Does not get papers or tests back 2 u in tim.Tests are tricky & extremely difficult. She's the type of teacher that likes to trick u (test questions) so that she can say 2 herself AHA! I got you! Can have attitude problem. Sends out wrong, incorrect, and misleading emails re: test dates. Gives out Study Guides to her tests at the last min.
The anatomy class is very difficult. The tests are hard, especially the lab practicals. However, Gallardo gives a lot of extra credit and bonus questions. More than half the class got an A. Study your ass off and you'll do fine. Don't complain about how hard the class is. This is college, grow up or drop out. Gallardo is a great professor.
JUST A FRIENDLY ADVICE TAKE THIS CLASS AT MISSION COLLEGE I heard its much easier.
Let's get this out of the way. She is distractingly pretty. Cute dimples, great smile, very good-looking. If you can get past her good looks, she is a very good teacher. Will help you at will, very open to office hours. Be careful not to get lost in her big brown eyes.
She's very smart, energetic and often funny (though don't crack jokes or you'll get her evil eye!). Can be somewhat aloof and intimidating when seeking clarity on subject matter and has the WORST power-points - nice pics, but absolutely no logical text format - to learn with. Class is not too hard IF you can get over the poor lectures.
As a person Leticia is REALLY cool but as a prof I REALLY didnt care for her. Dumbs things down to the pnt where it doesnt do the subject justice, is only sufficiently knowledgeable bout the material, unavailable during OH, can have attitude, overall kinda lazy teacher. She doesnt go extra mile, how are we supposed to? Def not ready for tenure, YET
Not a good teacher. Reads through her ppslides bullet pt by bullet pt, but explains nothing. Most student questions were left unanswered. Not helpful in terms of what students should get out of material and focus on. Christine Peters is way better choice for subject.
Leticia is an amzing teacher. She knows her subject matter very well. She is helpful in lab, but often times she has a lot on her plate with all the classes she teaches. Her exams are hard, but if you studythe material you will do well. All of the pepole who complain about how difficult it was obviously did not put an effort into the class.
People complain about things being unclear, unexplained and that many questions go unanswered. You can't expect to just "get it" all the time. Study the material, get a grip of it then ask questions to clear things up. I was frustrated many times by all the senseless questions people would ask. READ 1st ASK LATER if needed Don't be an idio t
she's a waste of time, poor lectures and lecture materials, she has the knowledge but cant pass it on,
THIS IS A VERY challenging class. you will have to show up, and you will have to do the work. but leticia is a great teacher. she will help you when you need it. her lecture slides are not the best but if you read the textbook before class, you will get it. GO TO HER OPEN LABS. Her practical lab exams are difficult, but she does grade on a curve.
Leticia is an awesome teacher, funny as hell, and knows her stuff, makes class fun. No need to buy the textbook, everything you need to know is in the powerpoint and lab manual. Not sure why ppl are complaining about the lecture slides, they were easy to understand, u'd have to be a real ditz to not get it.
She is organized, helpful and is a good teacher, but I would not recommend this class for people who work full time, have kids, and have a life. It's very very time consuming. She covers a lot of material in such a short period of time. There's a lot of memorizing and is very detailed. Other teachers are not as detailed.
do not take this class. take it somewhere else
Leticia is wonderful! Very intelligent, articulate, friendly, and enthusiastic. The class is super challenging, but if you study, you'll do well. I've had two other classes with Leticia, and they have all been tons of fun. You can really tell how much she loves Biology.
Leticia seems like a nice person but she shows compassion selectively. She is difficult to read. The tests are disconnected from the material. Her lectures are presented in a sing-song voice that feels condescending. She is often frazzled. She seems to be just one step ahead of the class. Do not take her.
She's sort of intimidating, yes. But she has organized lectures, and taught us the lectures well. This was the first time Bio of Sex was taught, and I ended up getting the highest grade in the entire class (!!!!), even though I'd gotten a C and B on exams. I studied a lot, and LOVED this class. SO INTERESTING! I recommend it to everyone! It's cool!
She's extremely condescending, and so repetitive that it becomes irritating. Her tests/quizzes are primarily based on the lab manual and her powerpoints (don't buy the textbook). She missed a week of school and instead of altering the test schedule (like she said), she crammed 3 full length exams & 3 quizzes in the last month of school.
Leticia is an awesome teacher. You can tell she loves her job and is completely passionate about spreading knowledge onto others. Ive noticed that people complain that she doesn't answer questions clearly, but you cant just expect to understand it right away. Anatomy takes a lot of time and work and you need to make sure that you have that.
Yes, I am surprised that she insists on cramming the entire nervous system into one lab and one or two lectures. This is not enough time. She sometimes tries too hard to be cute. It is obvious that she uses this to get things. She should not make us pay for the week that she took off for "personal reasons."
She seems nice and tries but it is tough. Contrast between taking a week off because her dog was sick and the lab teacher coming in with torn foot ligaments. Wish he taught the lecture. I know that I would have learned more. One or two days on the nervous system? I do not feel prepared to move on, even though I am getting a good grade.
Rushes through powerpoint slides, pretty much need to inhale the material. Pushes new material the day before we are tested on the old material. Makes empty promises such as dropping an exam because she missed a week of lecture for personal reasons. She'll say something will/won't be on an exam but she lies.
Leticia is intelligent, knowledgable, and extremely enthusiastic. This semester was a little hectic because she had an emergency (which some people should cut her some slack on- she's only human like the rest of us), but she managed to get the class through to nervous system and the final exam was SUPER EASY. You'd be lucky to have her as a prof!
Great teacher. She is very smart, easy to understand, and very easy on the eyes. She missed a week like a lot of people said, but it wasn't her fault. Coming into this class you should be prepared for a real challenge and make sure you have time to study. Overall she was a great teacher who made anatomy very fun. Differently recommend her.
Shes great. Anatomy is hard anywhere and if people complain she moves quickly its because the class is fast paced. We did cram in the nervous syst test but she accomodated it and made it easier and shorter. She has to prepare us for physio so skipping a whole body syst is worse then having to work a bit harder for week. You wont regret taking her
"She's intelligent, loves to teach!"No1 is questioning that!Get real people!Bottom line is:she didn't deliver the way it could be done!I had to worry abt my A until the last sec.The final-all the hard study from before has no meaning(multiple 1pt q.s)when u can loose big chunk of points on essay q.s from nervous system that we learned in few days!!
Anatomy is hard, period. Leticia was always helpful. If you pay attention and read the lab note book you'll do well, without buying the text book. Tests we're straight forward and fair. We crammed nervous system at the end, but the testing of it was fair. Tests are kinda long, but it give you the chance to miss more without being penalized more.
Class requires a lot of work. She is a GREAT teacher. Take her cause she helps you pass since she explains everything clearly. Read your lab manual and literally memorize her lec notes. this class is all about memorizing so memorize EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
Great Teacher. Keeps you interested in class, and is always willing to help you with anything you are struggling with in class.
Very nice teachr and helpful. Exams are supr long n hard. 50 ?? ID on cadavr and modl, fill in blank, T/F, 4-5 essay ??. Quizzes- 18 ID on screen and 25 Multi. choice. Read the lab bk. Lectrs are vry fst as she crams it all in. Very tough class.
Look being a nurse is competitive...She isn't going to just give you a good grade you have to earn it and yes the cadaver id part of the test is HARD so you have to study for hours and more hours per week to do well. i liked her class and i know she cares about all her students too.
Kept me interested!
Basically taught myself all this material too easy, and boring no challenge, the only reason i kept going to class was because i would have been droppd other wise
Most amazing science teacher at WV. She'll kick your butt! She knows her stuff. Study her power points, they're really informative and read the lab manual. She's not big on mult. choice...you have to know the information. Sounds crappy but, you'll walk away from her class having actually learned (a lot!).
She has a hard time communicating expectations when it comes to extra assignments and deadlines. However it's an easy class. As long as you show up and do the lab you'll pass fine. You usually can finish an hour early if you start while she's still lecturing.
She's cool. Very patient. She knows the subject well. Definitely would recommend her. Challenging and very interesting class.
Study the lectures and labs for Quizzes and Exams and you'll do fine. She goes quick, so keep up with the material or else you'll be crying. Exams test your knowledge: 50 ID, 25-30 Multiple Choice, 3-5 T/F, 15-25 Fill-in-the-blanks, 5-6 Short Answer questions, and 1 Essay question (worth 10 pts.) She's challenging...but she's freaking HOTTTTT!!!!!!
I LOVE this class and Leticia. She's smart, funny, and she is passionate about her class. I'm scraping by with a C, because you have to STUDY HARD to do well in her class. I could have taken an easier class and gotten an A, but I was interested in anatomy and that's why I've stayed. I'm a non-science major and it's my favorite class at WVC.
The class is tough, and you have to put in the time to do well. I recommend taking the extra 1-hour lab class to give you more time with the materials. Leticia is GREAT...she is clear, well organized and fun. I'd recommend her to anyone who is serious about learning anatomy. WV is lucky to have her!!
Not easy, not clear. Not very patient
Do yourself a Favor and study as much information during the summer or winter. school doesnt get any easier. If you want to pass study in advance be ahead of the class and study everynight after class and the next day and the next day.
Leticia is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I wish she would teach other classes like Physiology, Cell, and Microbio BECAUSE I WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE ALL OF THEM. She is ethusiastic makes you want to learn. Doesn't use textbook, but you'll want it. Takes off ~8points off the tests so an A is very duable unless you dont study at all... STAY THE ENTIRE LAB.
Leticia is AWESOME. She is the best Bio teacher I have ever had, no question. She is so helpful and clear with what she is teaching and always willing to help! This is the first time I have ever actually understood Biology and she has completely revolved my thinking about the subject as a whole. I highly recommend her!
If you're an idiot don't take this class. Work hard, study & have a good attitude. She's an excellent professor, talented, and enthusiastic. Pay attention to her hints *wink* they are often essay q's for exams. She'll watch you like a hawk so don't try anything. The key is doing all the HW and extra credit. Lucky to have her, also attractive =]
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She can seem tough but if you study and ASK QUESTIONS, you'll enjoy the hell out of her class and learn like no other.
Leticia is amazing! She is enthusiastic about what she teaches & gives AMAZING analogies to help you understand concepts! She challenges you to know your stuff, but is extremely fair! Pay attention, study hard, form a study group & you'll do great! Oh & keep an ear out for her fun/quirky sayings & voices haha you'll know them well by the end! =)
wonderful woman! she'll make you work for your grade and she uses very versatile learning strategies to keep everyone interesed. it's a tough class in general, but pay attention and you'll do fine! you'll meet alot of wonderful ppl in her class as well :) take her!
Lectures are interesting to listen to and she is very nice. Reading assignments are easy. Tests are difficult and written part doesn't make sense.
Lectures are all powerpoint and she talks too fast, so lecture is boring. She gives study guides so rather than taking notes I just look through the slides online. She is very behind on work, it can take 4 weeks before you get an exam back and I never got my third exam back and never post grades online like she says. Tests can also be confusing.
Amazing teacher. Extremely knowledgeable, great teaching skills and very friendly.
Great teacher. Class format is power points which she puts online. Lecture can be a little dull, but I really like how she phrased things. Couple tests, I pretty much got by on just lectures. Couple hw assignments that are actually interesting. She encourages questions. I recommend her.
She is a great teacher, who loves what she is teaching. This class is hard but you learn so much an it really sticks. Spelling counts and she really likes you to know details on your tests. Use your lab time wisely and ask her questions, she is more than happy to answer them. I got an A in the class but i worked hard to get it. She is fair but hard
Loved her class and her teaching style. I wish my other professors had been as caring and passionate about Biology as she was. I highly recommend her class to anybody wanting to take anatomy. It's not an easy class and does require you to study hard. As long as you attend each lecture and lab, make the most of lab time you'll do fine. Love her!
Honestly? If you can take the class with another professor? Do it. I love anatomy. I love bio. But, this professor seemed to do everything she possibly could to trip her students up. Tests are designed poorly for people who are bad at multi tasking (it's like taking two separate tests at once and having to switch back and forth.) Avoid.
She was the Cali Animals teacher for the Cali Plants and Animals. She knows her stuff and really loves animals. She's a good teacher and is kinda on top of her game, but she made me feel really inferior. She always gave me this, "what are you even doing here..you're not in park management or even look like you care about biology."look.
Dont listen to all these people that arent recommending this class. The only reason why they are saying that is because they expected to go into a class thinking they can do good without studying, Shes a fabulous teacher, you have to put in the time to get the A, like i did. Its good insight into how classes should be at a university
Fantastic teacher didn't think I could even pass biology and got an A. She's passionate about biology, uses great metaphors for abstract concepts. Makes lectures exciting and not boring. Overall fantastic you won't regret registering don't hesitate to.
She is very symmetric and fertile, but more important (sort of) - a fabulous professor
Oh goodness. I highly recommend taking Bio 56, Ecology of the Sierra Nevada with Leticia! She is an AMAZING teacher. I've never had a teacher who is into the subject, and is excited about it as much as she is. The class is super fun, and you learn a lot in the field! Its a fun summer class. You will no regret taking it.
Awesome teacher! Always gives a funny example to help us remember! Most of her homework assignments are extra credit and improved my grade tremendously!
Leticia is one of the best teachers I've had. She really loves her job and really wants you to take an interest in it. She is able to keep things interesting which makes it much easier to learn. She takes attendance but her tests are pretty easy. Lab is an easy A if you show up. Minimal homework. Loved her class.
Leticia is such an inspirational professor! She is passionate about biology & shows her class a different perspective on life!Exams are very reasonable, no trick questions. There are quizzes everyday in lab but are easy.Lectures can be boring but listening to her talk is always interesting! Was scared to take during the summer but don't regret it now
Took both Gallardo and Norris for bio47, and Gallardo is definitely harder. Learned a ton of info, but struggled to get higher than a B on tests. She'll help you out, but doesn't keep up with posting grades and her tests can be annoyingly quick paced. Vaguely explains what she expects on assignments. extra credit was a plus though!
Leticia is a great teacher, very enthusiastic. But, she fights using Angel, so be prepared to attempt to navigate the section of the west valley website that she manages. She is not very clear on when she wants homework assignments and she seems to be trying to catch you with her exams. She also has a zero tolerance policy on phones in class.
Leticia is a great professor. She explains lectures very well but little fast. You should read the lab materials ahead of time, use your time wisely in the lab, and review lectures before the class. Her tests are very straight forward. This class is not hard. It's just a lot of materials. To make the most out of it you have to really work on it.
Leticia is a great professor--really funny, inspiration, and passionate. However, her lectures can go on and on and for some chapters, it's easier to learn in lab than in lecture. Also, her lectures are pretty fast and her tests are pretty tough. I would recommend her, though, because she has a great personality.
I have a hard time with science classes, so this coarse was exceptionally hard. She kept lectures easy to follow because she made it sound exciting, and she speaks very well. But the material(obviously not her fault) was so hard to keep up with. Always Always read. She rarely responds to email. Test are tough, in general this class was okay.
I took both field ecology courses and was blown away. She is a fountain of knowledge and explains things so clearly that it feels like conversation, not lecture. She knows so much and is totally personableapproachable. If you're interested in the subject, it's a treat! And yes, prepare for A LOT of material and keep track of all your notes.
Extremely time-consuming and very difficult!! I studied like crazy for 15 weeks and only then did I get an A. You have to know each and every detail. On the other hand, the material is engraved in my head, which is useful for subsequent classes, like physio and med term. If you're trying to do minimal work, take a class with someone else.
Leticia is awesome! Although her tests are long and a bit difficult, her lectures are super interesting and engaging. She knows her stuff. You don't need the textbook since she only tests what she lectures on. She is really cool and always on top of things. She is one of those teachers that makes you work for your A but it is so worth it!
Lectures go on and on, literally talks for 2 hours straight and only stops to say "You got that?" at which point no one reply's and she continues on. Doesn't make clear what is important and what is not. Also assigns massive amount of busy work, very similar to highschool Biology.
I highly recommend anyone who needs biology classes to take this professor. She is very clear detailed in her lectures always making sure you understand the topic. She is helpful whenever you need assistance, and here test are always on what ever she applied in to her lecture.
I took her bio class over summer. It was required for my GE, although I am an english major. That being said, for something that I am not interested in, this class ended up being awesome because of her. I actually enjoyed it. Tests aren't too bad if you study and attend lectures. She's a cleargreat teacher overall.
Leticia is an amazing lecturer, even though they are long lectures. I passed with a high B, but I had to work really hard for it... Even though it's intro, many students were barely passing her class because they didn't pay attention. You can tell what will be on the exams by how passionately she teaches on certain topics. I do recommend her!
Leticia is probably the most knowledgable teacher I've ever had. I think she's amazing! However, it is a HARD class. When she says you need to study 20 hours a week, she means it literally. Tests are HARD, she tells you exactly what to study though. No curve. 20 ec points total. Get textbook to get the right answers on homework. Study study study!
I had Letecia as my Bio 10 lecture instructor and she made the lectures very entertaining however, her powerpoint are set up for her to say the information so if you write down whats on the slides you'll be lost. Write down what she says, pay attention to what she's saying. She words things in ways that are memorable.
Leticia is nice, but neglectful when it comes to questions in or out of class. There were points when someone would ask her a question in class, and she'd say "come see me in office hours." Her tests are difficult and I feel the curriculum is much more intense than an "intro" to biology. For nonbio majors, the amount of work isn't worth it.
Professor Gallardo is my FAVORITE professor of all time. I don't know if it is her passion for the subject of biology, the way she presents the topics in lectures, those dimples of hers, or those tight dresses she wears - HUBBA BUBBA!! Her exams can be a little tricky but if you study extra hard and long enough you should pass easily.
Leticia is a fabulous professor but anatomy is tough!! Study at least 30 hours a week if you want to earn an A or B. Tests (5) are long; 50 ID on cadavers & models, 20-50 MC, 10-20 fill in the blank, and 6-8 essay questions(worth the most pts!) Don't expect class to end early and spend all of lab reviewing material. Super easy but cumulative final.
she is hardest grader .I studied like crazy for this class . it hearts when you don,t get points what you did.I got 90 in all part that was in my hands but i lost in easy type questions BEWARE of essay type .she just read few lines and give you grades Practically learnt lot because she did good job in ID but on transcripts low grades that matter
Im not a science person at all, but she made the class pretty easy. It was a summer course so it was fast paced: quiz everyday and tests every week. You dont need the book, but it really helps when you're doing hw and studying. However, she cares too much so it's almost like shes forcing her opinions on you.
Leticia is fantastic. Her exams are masterful, demanding a comprehensive understanding of the material. Very enthusiastic and always willing to help. Yes, Anatomy is hard & yes, she's harder! But, she's also among WVC's best. Come with a positive attitude, good work ethic, a dash of curiosity and reap the rewards. Would take again in a heartbeat!
This is a tough class. When she says you need to study every day/20 hours a week, she means it. The information isn't particularly hard but there's a lot of it and you need to memorize it all. That said, she is a great professor and wants you to succeed. If you need help, it's easy to find. Go to the lectures, study all you can, and you'll be fine
Leticia is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's extremely passionate about her work and teaching. She loves her students and will do her best to help you with the material, given you're willing to put in the effort and time for it. All the information you need she presents in very clearly bulleted lectures - so be prepared to take notes.
Leticia is an awesome teacher! As long as you show up to class with an open mind and a positive attitude, do your due diligence then you will most likely get an A. )
Leticia definitely makes you work hard for that A! 5 exams, quizzes before each exam date, lots of memorization and studying. Cadaver identifications, super long lectures, etc. Don't really need the textbook but it has some answers for hw. although it was one of the hardest classes i've taken, I feel like I am super knowledgeable on anatomy
Leticia is an amazing amazing woman. The first week of class she lectured during the lecture period AND lab period which totaled to nearly 5 hours of lecture each day and every minute of it was interesting! The cadaver use in class is excellent and she is incredibly knowledgable on the subject. I hope to be able to take another one of her classes.
Shouldnt be allowed to teach. Knowledgeable but most unorganized person ever! Class didnt know our grade the entire semester, she lost a bunch of peoples work & said we can redo it to get 1/2 credit umm what? Weekend field trips suck (i have a life ya know) & tests you on material from months ago. Worst experience ever. Doesnt use canvas. Avoid
knowledgable but shouldn't teach. love the class but dread going. talks too much instead of having a more elaborate teaching style. lectures are awful. if u are a learner who can listen & remember u might be fine. if u need more like diagrams etc. then u wont do well. TESTS ARE HARD. never had enough time to do much & no accommodations. unorganized
Never take this teacher, even to fulfill a Biology requirement. Scatterbrained, doesn't use Canvas, 50/50 chance on email response, forgets homework assignments she assigns. Terrible lecturer and isn't engaging. Study guides reflective of tests, and is prompt on returning homework (there's only 10 of us, maybe 8 in the class). Never again.
Professor Gallardo really knows her stuff. If you care about nature and ecology, climate change and Conservation, this is the professor to take. She has a lot to lecture on, visuals, and video. Also hands-on dissecting of plants, some sketching, journaling, and field trips. The field trips are amazing. I've learned so much in her classes.
I took Prof. Gallardo's Bio 11 class and I have enjoyed it a lot. Her Lectures are not boring at all. She is very respectful, amusing, and knowledgeable. She is also very patient, kind, and funny. Take good notes, study the book and pay attention in class, you will get a good grade. She loves biology and she will do everything so that you learn
Takes forever to enter assignments. Went the entire semester without entering anything.
No clear organization in lectures, does not use Canvas, email responses are hits & misses (go to office hours or immediately catch after class/lab), grades rarely updated or posted, overall disorganized when it comes to grading logistics. Provides lots of outside resources and is passionate about material. Exams are long but reflect lectures/labs
She's a nice lady but is very lecture heavy and has like 60 slides per lecture. Tests are around 60-100 questions (mostly multiple choice). She does use proctorio though (room scan, sound on, share screen, camera on)... so good luck. Get ready to study a lot. She does give a few extra credit assignments though.
Really nice teacher, but grades tough and lectures the entire class time
DO NOT TAKE! Final & midterm were hell: 77 multiple choice & 21 word ?'s. I even worked on all the study guides. She grades hw leniently. 100 slides on lectures & it's all over the place. Went the whole semester not grading anything. Field trips would've been too time consuming, so glad online. She is nice & easygoing, just not an easy class
Leticia is amazing! She is SO organized and the lectures are easy to follow. No textbook needed so you can save a few hundred bucks. Offers 3-4 extra credit assignments and makes study guides for tests. Tests are long but very easy. As long as you take notes, you will definitely pass! I would definitely take her again.
took bio11 fall 2019. no canvas, bad email responses, slow grader. HW and tests easy (mostly MCQ) all her lecture slides are online so easy to study from. Interesting and exciting lectures, I loved going to her class. I still check out my notes occasionally because the content was so interesting. Lots of memorable anecdotes in her lectures, so fun.
This is one class that I wish was NOT online because I feel like we would be able to learn more from in-person teaching and being able to take the field trips. Leticia may be slow to grade some assignments but is also flexible with late assignments. Overall a fair and compassionate teacher who clearly knows the material back and front.
Is available outside of class for meetings/office hours but isn't great with email. Is very willing to help. If you do the work and put in the time you'll do alright. Hit or miss with disability/DESP accommodations (because she forgets not because she tries to deny them). Will correct her mistake if she forgets though. I enjoyed her class a lot.
Summer course. Seems nice as a person but class is extremely tough. Exams each week w/ 5 exams total (final included). Multi choice 90-100qs and Short ans 35qs. Homework and lab work assigned everyday and due the next day @10:30 (class time). She says it is to help us learn but I just couldnt help feeling overwhelmed. Better if taken in semeste
Bio students love Leticia, everyone else can't stand her. 120 questions on exams, no open notes, and they are worth 65% of the grade. Study guides she posts take up 14 pages, impossible to study. Over 100 slides per lecture, very monotone and hard to follow... scatterbrain and disorganized! Needlessly difficult for those needing their GenEd credit
Taking for professional development. Gives homework after most classes. Lectures on time management yet drops homework at the last minute so there is no way to plan. Says right at the end of most sentences during lecture. Lectures during entire lab. Disorganized. May know content, has difficulty expressing it. Wants students to form community.
She doesnt give us enough time for our quiz especially the free write and her lecture is all over the place and non related to bio 10 min in she talks about biology and then the rest of the class she talks about chemistry like Wtf? And her homework are so confusing wouldnt take her again
bad teacher, goes super fast and study guides are like 20 pages, 60 minute 120 questions per exam, 75% of grade.
Disorganized. Develops homework at last minute so has many inaccuracies. Stupid amount of homework. Be prepared to write. TBS seems to be generous with grades. Posts PowerPoints. Posts study guides yet has test questions not on guide. Do extra credit. Takes forever to grade. Only person teaching this class
shes really nice and funny. I took her class during covid when all classes were online so it was a bit of a transition. Biology classes online are difficult esp when there is a lab portion. Her labs were a bit annoying and shes lowkey a tough grader exams are hard and she picks favorites in her class .... shes one of those people
Cheery and passionate professor. Tests are long, study guides are longer, and you're expected to know any material covered in lecture, lab, or homework. I recommend taking lecture notes by filling in the study guides. The guides are sometimes altered when exam study time comes if she didn't cover everything she was planning to.
DONT TAKE HER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Its my 2nd week and she is giving an amount of hw that I would expect from all my classes combined. The tests are 60 min 90 question for 1 test and 60min for a essay type question on another the next day. Her lectures are terrible as she doesn't give all the correct info and they are highly innaccurate.DONT take
A passionate professor who will make you work HARD & makes sure you are actively learning. Grind, be optimistic and you'll appreciate what Leticia has to offer! This was the most intense class I've ever enrolled in. Had to drop since I was overtaken by the amount of content given the crammed 6 week summer schedule. My advice, don't fall behind!
I currently have Ms. gallardo as my intro to bio professor and I must say you should be prepared to spend quite a bit of time on homework. She will assign anywhere from 6-10 modules per week and some of them you have to do over the weekend. She seems to care about your success tho cuz she keeps encouraging us to ask questions & go to success center
Leticia a great teacher honestly, she cares about students and their success. She is very knowledgable and respected. Lectures can be overwhelming for some units, so make sure to utilize office hours. This course was fast paced, so I don't suggest cramming things last minute. if you actually put the effort to learn and study, you'll pass.
Amazing teacher - there are a lot of complaints about the workload, which only took me 30-50 mins per class. She cares deeply about her students and encourages us to attend tutorials and office hours. If you put the work in, you'll get a good grade. She's an amazing teacher. I loved her passion and the amount of work she put into her lectures.
Great teacher! All in all, she's super caring and will try her best to help you. She has office hours and tutors to help you at all times. If you put in the work, you'll get a good grade.
she is nice, but she is totally unorganized. went back and forth between topics, wasn't consistent, so my notes were all over the place. she made the work harder then it was, gave to much. the exam was 76 ? . says weird things, confusing and never remembers if/what she talked about. if you can get thru the madness, she's an essay grader.
This Professor was extremely nice, but, She never posts anything on the modules. She expects you to remember everything she told you at the last minute of class. Many unexpected exams, projects, and homework that is not posted in the modules. Unless you have a good memory or add the assignments in your calendar at the end of zoom, good luck.
Leticia is extremely kind and knowledgable. This class offers field trips and some pretty fun projects. I've seen reviews saying she doesn't give you enough information for homework/projects, however, she gives plenty of information -- you just have to be paying attention! Lecture days are heavy, but her passion for the subject makes up for it.
She's very disorganized with Canvas and sometimes posts the assignments such as in-class notes and quizzes late for students to complete. Assignments are all over the place on Canvas. Overall, not the best for this class.
Prof. Gallardo is engaging but the workload can be heavy. Utilize office hours and tutoring - they really help. unstuck ai was a great study aid alongside the textbook. Overall, put in the effort and you'll do well.
she is an amazing instructor but you really have to study to get that A. She is very passionate about her job you will enjoy the class overall!
Professor Leticias rushed lectures and outdated slides can hinder comprehension especially if you need extra time to understand the concepts and need further elaborations. Her slides lack information & won't help when reviewing at home, her unapproachable demeanor and attitude towards accommodations for students with disabilities are concerning.
Leticia is a good professor for the most part. Tests can be difficult so prepare. She assigns lots of online lectures that tend to take up chunks of time. Participation matters during lectures so be sure to answer questions in class. Overall I enjoyed her class even though it can be difficult.
She super nice and knows what she is talking about. lots the lecture videos for homework tho. also lots of opportunities for extra credit.
Her slides literally have no words on it so it's impossible to study. Her tests were very difficult. She's always in a bad mood she's never happy
When trump got elected she literally gave the class a whole talk about it and how the country is going to fall apart. In no way should a teacher be talking about that and bringing their own opinions into the classroom. Very uncomfortable space where you can't express how you feel if she disagrees with you
She is an incredible professor who cares about her students success in the class. She has open office hours and is willing to work with students. Be ready to take lots of notes during her lectures. Missing just one lecture can put you behind in the class, so stay up to date on the material.
Leticia is an amazing field interpreter for her students--good at explaining the method of writing Grinnell notes and exceptional at lecturing over a walkie-talkie. Participation is key, and you should manage a good grade. She is very authoritative, though she truly cares about what she does and is likely to inspire you with a passion for ecology.
She knows her material well, but takes a while to email & grade. I didn't receive a grade from an assignment until 2 months later, & surprises you with a test with material you haven't worked on in a long time(this was my experience) I ended up studying the wrong material for the test because the expectations weren't specific enough
Knew the material very well but i feel they struggled to teach it. rests were planned little in advance and wasn't specific enough what was on the test and i ended up studying the wrong info-i also struggled to communicate with emails. and lots of readings and writing a reflection based on them. Lectures were about 3 hours which was tough
Informative lectures. Explains concepts well and illustrates them during lectures. If you engage with the material and participate in class, you will do great. I didn't even read the textbook, just used the slides from class to study because that is what the tests are based on.
Taking a field ecology trip with Leticia is one of the staples of the Biology dept. at West Valley. Life-changing experiences out in the open air, surrounded by native plants and learning opportunities. She is very passionate about what she teaches, though she may come off as strict or harsh. She's a hard worker and expects the same from you.
i attended class 99% of the time but i genuinely flopped on most of the exams. lectures are so text heavy that i was fighting against my own eyelids to stay awake. the homework consisted of even more lectures to watch online and the avg test scores would be in the 60% range but if you love lectures & reading this is definitely the class for you…
Amazing professor, super good at teaching, but the course itself was hard. Lectures were really interesting and she's super funny and caring, she even made us cookies for an exam day one time. Lots of assignments (!!), exam heavy, and fast-paced. I crammed for exams and averaged 65%. Review lecture slides and study frequently if you want an A.
