Taking this with Deon is fun and easy. Fun group projects and assignments. No exams/final, barely any quizzes. The only big portions of the grade are essays, and she will help you out in order to get a good grade. She'll not stress you out, and she extends deadlines if the workload is overwhelming. She is a nice lady, and I recommend her to take.

Two group projects, a midterm, and two essays. Most of the work are classwork and homework. She is a nice and fun teacher. Groups also help with the sense of what you read. Make sure to read the text before heading to class. Take CWL100 with this professor.

The class was moderate in terms of difficulty, but Letitia as a person was amazing. With a love for comedy, she incorporates it into her classroom allowing for a positive, funny environment. It's important to do the homework or else you won't hold a good grade, and same goes for attendance and classwork. I would love to take another class with her.

By far one of the best classes that I have ever taken. It's not your typical lecture class, she does make you do some acting. However, it helps motivate you to get out of your comfort zone and to meet new people. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed, as well as remain stress free. Readings are short and homework is simple.

Honestly, Deon is an extremely nice and caring professor. I truly love her and her charisma. She does care for her students and tries to maintain them stress free. The quizzes are extremely easy and the homework is easy as well but requires some effort. She sometimes pushes our homework because she just wants to. Truly an amazing professor.

I went into the class expecting to dislike it. The class involves lots of group work, and presenting, it turned out to be fun and easy. She does a great job of getting people involved and keeping the work interesting. And she ends class when the lesson is done and does not try to stretch for time... which is great! lol

Awesome teacher! All the work for this class is not too difficult and is mostly graded by effort. I highly suggest taking the CWL161 class for the critical thinking GE requirement.

Literally the best teacher Ive had so far trying to even take her again. Shes funny and super nice ! There is group work and lots of fun activities and discussions there is alot of homework but it is simple and easily graded for effort make sure to read all the stories theyre short but good. Do well on essays , she will always help when you ask

She really takes her time to remember her students names, to grade our assignments, and to help us on anything. There was hmk almost everyday but it was more like note taking hmk, There were a lot of readings, & There were two group projects. Its an easy class youll get an a if you dont skip any hmk, do the project well, and pass the one exam.

Very sweet professor! The course and grading is very lenient and the reading material is interesting. She likes to break us into groups for discussions and have us give answers as group. Her test and papers are easy. I would say the only drawback is having group projects as it was hard to meetup.

I had her for CWL100 last year, and it's a trip down memory lane except in another subject. However, due to the current situation in the world, class had to be transitioned online, and we were graded by less work than what she had planned. Regardless, I recommend this professor 100%

Professor Deon truly cares for her students and tries to make the course as stressless as possible. The work isn't bad at all, however have to participate in class discussions and present a lot of small things sometimes. I dislike talking in front of the whole class, however she creates a comfortable environment to do so. Take her she's awesome!

Dude, she is one of my most favorite professors. Took her for CWL 161 & 100, and she's just awesome. Participate in the class and if everyone is invested it's even more fun. She does make you work for it but dude just stop complaining. Overall though, I love her so take her. Took before Covid so don't know how she is online but she still great.

Professor Deon is everything you'd want in a professor: she teaches you about a lot of interesting media, she is super understanding and encourages you. I had her for CWL 161 and even though there was a lot of work that went into the class, I learned a lot and loved the open environment she created for everyone.

This class had a wonderful environment, everyone eventually becomes very comfortable with participating. She stresses participation and it's mandatory to turn on your cameras, but she is very welcoming when it comes to any opinions or answers shared. This class consists of discussion posts, papers, and group projects.

I enjoyed the class. She made it clear that she both cared about student stress levels AND wanted us to learn, so I didn't mind the workload. Cameras are RECOMMENDED, not mandatory, but it does improve the class experience. It's easy to participate and be engaged bc of the open atmosphere. She's very understanding and every discussion was fun!

She is honestly the best critical thinking professor! I was so afraid to take her class because I knew we would have to read and write essays, but this class was honestly so easy! She helps you so much on your essays if you go to office hours. The only reason I wouldn't take this class is if you're shy, because you have to participate!

Honestly going into this class I was really nervous that the professor was going to be hard on us and I was especially nervous because I don't like reading. But she was very caring and was very understanding of the students. I really encourage people to take her classes, because she does care about you unlike some other professors.

Professor Deon is hands down one of the best professors I had. She's extremely caring towards her students and allows for due dates to be moved back. There are two essays and two group projects, which require a decent amount of work, but she's always available during office hours for help. I would take her again since she is very lively and social.

I'm a freshman at CSULB this year and so far Prof Deon has been the BEST professor I've had. Not only is she nice, she actually cares about your wellbeing and education. Professor Deon truly cares about her students. The main key is to communicate with her. Deadlines too soon? Let her know and she'll be willing to extend it. Class is fun overall, especially with the selection of books that are chosen to read. The workload isn't heavy as it seems. One of the few professors that genuinely care about passing students.

To sum it up briefly, she's the best. She is really understanding and always asks what stressors her students are experiencing. If the due dates seem to close she may extend them! As for the assignments, she tends to assign them weekly but if you make sure to do them on time you should be fine. I would definitely take her class again.

I took the class online. The work could be overwhelming sometimes, make sure to do your HW, read, & participate. Make sure to check BeachBoard for HW. I had two major essays, several group projects, and discussion boards. Go to her office hours she will help you a lot. Also, she explains the readings and goes over HW answers. There were no quizzes.

Professor Deon is one of the best professors I have ever taken. If you have the opportunity to take her class DO IT!!! She is super caring and understanding. There is homework almost daily and daily participation for your grade, but overall not a hard class at all. Some of the stuff you have to read is kinda weird and can be somewhat confusing, but overall the class is more just busy work than actually hard to do. Doing the work means more than the quality of it, so just get it all done.

There will be a lot of work in this class, with group projects, essays, and reading analyses dispersed throughout the semester. There's also a lot of in-class participation, so be sure to participate to maximize your points before finals season sweeps in! The work is numerous, but very easy in terms of difficulty.

She's a very caring professor. Her assignments aren't too bad. You just have to be very attentive to the instructions because any small error she will deduct points. The class overall was pretty fun though. We read comics, watched plays, and read some manga. Participation is a big thing in her class, so if you do take her be prepared.

Took her last semester, lectures were interesting and insightful. While there were a lot of assignments, most of them weren't extremely difficult and some of them really helped when it came time to write the essays. She is willing to extend deadlines if you are swamped with work and if you are struggling going to office hours really helps!!

Attendance was mandatory but being on time was never a problem. Very easy A if you show up on time and complete all the homework. Extra credit was given and if you ever need any extra help she was always very understanding. No heavy lectures and she would always find a way to make class not so boring.

It may seem like a large workload, but she is very helpful and resourceful if you take the time to speak with her. No late work so stay on top of things, but the group projects and quizzes are not difficult and can be fun.

She's a really nice professor and very easy to get into contact with. Lots of group work and reading was required for this class. Luckily, in group projects, you are graded as an individual rather than a group. Missing classes will also hurt your grade and even if you're late by 5 min she will dock your participation points for the day.

Make sure not to fall too behind on any work given in class. The class is very group orientated, it would require you to come out of your comfort zone to complete group projects and assignments. Prof. Deon is a witty professor with a lot of personality! If you're a fan of interactive learning this is for you. I found this course to be refreshing as many others are pretty serious in nature. I've taken this professor all 4 years and she's amazing. Yes there is homework and attendance is mandatory but there are no tests. She gives plenty of opportunities to make sure you don't get a low grade. COMMUNICATION is key with her! Don't be afraid to talk to her, she is one of the best teachers I've taken, hence why I've taken her every year.

She doesn't believe in quizzes/exams so she does fun group projects instead and easy hmk. Students who leave bad reviews are being extra!
