Extremely moody and easily angered. The class was easy and she is not a bad teacher, but very unpleasant to be in her class.

She was extremely helpful... maybe others would know this had they asked question(s). The only time she got annoyed was when someone would ask a question that had just been answered (that is, when people were not paying attention). She gives good noted with LOTS of examples. Not a difficult class if you do the homework.

Contrary to most other comments on here, this instructor is very helpful. However, you must work to earn your grade. The information is presented to you and if you study it, your grade will reflect it. I would definitely recommend this instructor. She's not moody either. Pretty funny I think and very knowledgeable about statistics....

I had to take stats twice, and took it both times with her. Not a bad teacher, just went a little fast over lecture, but always willing to help outside of the class. Bottom line you have to do the work to earn your grade, and put it time outside of the classroom.

Her class is very hard. She thinks it is easy and that students don't study enough. Our test averages were around 60-65 on some exams.

Not a bad teacher. She does get frustrated when students do not do the work outside of class, but honestly, who wouldn't? Go to class, pay attention, do the work, and you should be fine.

I thought she was a wonderful math teacher! She knew what she was talking about and she knew how to explain it clearly. She's very helpful in class and during her office hours. Her tests are a little bit more difficult but overall, I would definately take her again for another class!

If you go to class and have half a brain, this is a super easy class. She can get moody, but that's only when people keep talking during class or using their cell phones. Other than that, she tells you what is on the exam, and most of the time she took examples straight from the quizzes or practice problems for the exam.

It's not an easy class. She's not big on calculators, so you will learn to use pencil and paper. She expects you to come to class and pay attention. She's very clear about what you need to do.

Awesome instructor. Those who rated her poorly are probably the ones who'd rather be on their phones or computers instead of paying attention to the lecture. As long as you come to class to learn and put in a little effort you will get the grade you deserve.

I thought Mrs. Downen was an excellent teacher. Although Calc 2 is a very hard class, she did a very good job with explanations and in class examples. Very approachable. Very willing to help during office hours and to answer questions during class.

Very reasonable and to the point. If you can do the book homework that she suggests, you should do fine on the quizzes/tests.

I don't understand why people have a problem with her. As long as you put the time into the homework the tests are easy because the test questions are made from the homework.

I took this online over the summer, which was HARD but NOT IMPOSSIBLE and this is coming from someone terrible at math of all kinds. I did all of the assignments and tests (C on the midterm, failed the final) and still got a B. There are A LOT of assignments. You must come to campus for the midterm and final. She voice records lectures which helped

I had Mrs. Downen for my calculus class. It is no joke, she moves very, very fast. However, she gives every step of every problem. I loved her. If you do the homework problems, even though they aren't for a grade, you will pass this class. Go to her office hours every chance you get. She helps those who care. Take her, but only youre not lazy!

Yes this class is difficult, but I don't think she made it any more difficult than it was. She was always very helpful with any questions I had for her. Use the resources you have! She never assigned book problems, but I found them to be very helpful. She gives six exams, a weekly quiz, and frequent homework assignments.

Professor Downen is one of the best professors I have ever had. She cares A LOT about the success of her students. If you make a point to go to class and participate, she is flexible with your grade. I had an 85% after the calc final but she gave me the A. She is definitely willing to help if you dont understand. I wish I could take her for Calc 2!

She is really good at explaining problems to you and will go over it as many times. She answers all questions even if they have been asked before. She's always available to talk to after class and she is very fair with grading, as well as, technical difficulties. I would definitely recommend her!

She explained material really well in my class. She was receptive to questions and made sure every student understood. Sometimes she would get off track. She is an extremely nice professor and wanted each of us to do well in her class.

She was very a good teacher, and taught the material fully. Quizzes almost every week that are fairly hard but do not affect your grade very much. Exams are challenging but you do similar examples during class. She is a fun teacher and very personable.

Very good professor that genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. However make sure to come to class mentally prepared and sharp as she does tend to speed through some material. Has no issues with answering questions or meeting outside of class.

Mrs Downen is a very sweet teacher that will help you with everything. She was able to help me weekly outside of her office hours. Her test are kinda hard and she has quizes every week. She normally doesnt throw you curveballs. If you ask questions you will do great.

I took QR and already knew almost all the material we covered from high school, but I could tell Letitia Downen really cared about the success of her students. She gave everyone a chance and helped them through difficult material they had never seen before. I really liked having her as a teacher.

She's very personable and kind. The exams are kinda hard, but she curves sometimes if the class collectively scores low. She goes through the material a little fast. As long as you go to class every day and ask questions, it isn't bad.

She gives a curve if she believes the test was hard. After the final i had an 85 in the class then i checked final grades online and i had an A in her class.

She was clear about what was needed to be done in order to succeed. She gives you a good idea about what will be on each test. Work hard and it will pay off. Lectures are easy to follow.

Stat244 was soo easy with her. The material is so easy and she realizes most people in this class are not stats majors so she makes it as easy as possible. Lowest 2 homework and labs are dropped and the final replaces your lowest test. Went thru the final and told us exactly what type of problems on it. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN

Professor Downen teaches at a very nice pace and always makes sure everyone understands the material. For sure one of the best math teachers I have ever had. If she doesn't get through something she will remove the topic from the HW and tests. She is very strict on attendance (but you need to go every week because lectures are only once a week)

I've had Downen for Calc 1 and Calc 2 now, and I love her as a teacher. You can tell she really cares about her students. Calc 2 is hard, showing up to class is a must and the homework is crucial for your grade (dont let deadlines get past you). Her tests are hard and long, so you must know the material well to finish in time

I took the class synchronous over zoom and thought Professor Downen was great! She posted note packets to follow along with, and I found them very useful. She explained the topics clearly and was very responsive to questions. She took attendance but there was no attendance grade and she didn't require your camera to be on. Exams were on Respondus.

Prof. Letitia is one of the best professors I've ever met, and I'm very glad she was one of my instructors in my first college semester. She awesomely explains hard materials. She is very flexible with homework extensions. She answers all of your questions with a smiley face. The tests are very logical, and she grades reasonably.

Professor Downen is a very good professor. Calc one is a hard class, but she tries her best to help students understand. Go to office hours, attend lectures, and do the extra practice problems and the class is no big deal. Study your notes before exams, as similar problems will appear on the test. The final exam is notoriously difficult.

Downen is a great instructor. I have had her for Calculus 1 and 2, and cannot say enough. Downen knows exactly how to break difficult topics down to something students can easily understand

Letitia was an amazing professor. Always willing to help you before/after class or in office hours. She goes pretty fast paced, but you get used to it. Her tests can be a little challenging but nothing impossible. Overall very good at explaining and very personable. She clearly cares about her students and wants them to succeed.

This class was extremely difficult, but she really made it more bearable. The exams were pretty tough, but I feel like her lectures really helped me. She also will help out and gave some other resources that can help through the class.

I had heard not good things about Downen, but the way she teaches actually helped me understand statistics for once in my life. Her tests were very similar to the homework problems so if you go to every class and do all the homework the tests are easy.

Now when I took this class during the first 7 weeks of the summer, I was expecting it to be another Lynn Miller experience that would've left me wanting to withdraw from classes. This teacher, however, made even the most difficult topic (statistics) easy. She uses real world problems, and her tests resemble what she gave you homework on. 10/10

Amazing if you like lectures. The entire class is pretty much: Teach problems from guided notes on the board and follow along, do a few different practice problems, "any questions?" Repeat. She definitely makes sure everyone's questions are heard. Incredibly nice professor and my favorite of the semester. Would absolutely take again.

Chillest math prof here. Fill in notes make it easy to study. Is super fair and cares about her students. I'm sure most of the bad ratings are from ppl who have to take only one math credit in college. As a math major, I enjoy her as a human and as a teacher. Better than the other calc 1 profs and stat 380 profs

Downen is a challenging but helpful professor. Lectures move fast, but she breaks down complex topics well. Unstuck study and the free textbook were invaluable study aids. Definitely attend class and be prepared to work hard.

Very nice and fun professor to have and was very friendly. Lectures are pretty fast-paced, but she provides guided notes to print out. Review from other resources outside of class is necessary to understand the more complex stuff. Grading is fair, and exams were reasonable. She should have a higher rating. At least for Calc 1 she did a great job.

One of the best math teachers I have ever had. You just have to pay attention in class because she moves quickly. Very forgiving grader and honestly made Calc 1 and 2 enjoyable. She clearly wants students to actually understand her content.
