He is a fairly good professor. His odd accent is the hardest part to get past. His tests are just like his homework problems and quizzes. Final is easy, since it is basically the previous test questions over again.
Rozansky is the man! He's pretty hillarious and loves to go on a bunch of physics tangents in class. He is pretty clear, but you have to get used to his teaching style. He'll help you if you ask, but at the same time if you ask him a dumb question..he won't feel bad about telling you that...
Awsome teacher, you learn with him a lot but you will be pretty happy when your grades are all As as long as you do the homework problems, which are not mandatory.
I'm good at math, but could hardly ever follow his diff eq lectures. This class was intellectual torture. He will spend the whole time on extremely abstract material and never give an example. He says that is what the textbook is for, but the book he uses sucks!!! It is fairly easy to study the procedures and do well on tests though.
awesome teacher
It's not too bad - you end up teaching yourself a lot of stuff out of the book because he doesn't do many examples in class; if you don't do the homework, you're pretty much screwed, but if you do the homework and come to class you should be fine.
he has an interesting accent and often goes on tangents but he is really nice. The tests are pretty much like the hw and he tends to help you out on the final grade. After having some of the other professors in the math department, I would totally recommend him.
If you can teach yourself Calculus using a book and 3 barely comprehensible examples than please be my guest. If not then please run far far away.
Great teacher, I liked him a lot. The only grades are three exams (homework doesnt count), but if you do the homework and study hard, they're pretty straight forward. He makes class fun, and his accent is awesome when he's talking about vectors. He doesnt give many examples, but you can easily look in the book for that. Id definitely recommend him.
I would give different recommendations based upon the student's interest in math/physics. Basically, if you enjoy math/physics, then do yourself a favor and take him! If not, go find teacher who will hold your throughout the semester. Rozansky leaves the fundamentals up to the student, and uses his time to thoroughly explore the material. A+ IMO.
I love this professor. He's a genuinely nice guy, he always will slow down if you ask him. His accent is so endearing as are his comments during class and his way of describing things. Definitely take him! and do the homework. It's not much, but it makes the tests pretty easy.
Rozansky is the man. Funny and entertaining. Unfortunately, he uses a whole lot of proofs to teach his material, and it can get very confusing. Really work a lot of problems on your own. I aced the class but spent 6- 8 hours studying the night before every midterm working lots of problems. Problems on test similar to ones on homework.
Lectures are hard to understand and class expectations and deadlines aren't clear. Can be funny and witty, but I still recommend taking this class with someone else.
His lectures are very confusing and hard to follow. He is a very friendly professor, but he can't explain concepts clearly. You have to teach yourself a lot. He is a nice person, but I would not recommend his MATH 547.
Rozansky is a nice guy, but I seriously recommend avoiding his 547 class unless you can teach yourself everything.
Rozansky is knowledgeable about the material, but is not good at explaining it. His lectures are very confusing and you essentially have to teach yourself everything. Also extremely disorganized. He is approachable and willing to help, though.
Rozansky wants to be helpful, but he just doesn't know how to teach. Class time is spent strictly learning theorems and writing their proofs, but the test material is all applied to finite sets, and the two don't relate well. Had to hire a tutor to help me make the connections. 2 midterms (25% each) and 1 Final (50%). Test questions exactly like hw
A professor full of mathematics stories. Lectures are hard because of the linear algebra proofs but prof. Rozansky tested only the basics. Enjoyed the fun pop problems he worked out with us in class. Also, homework is not graded.
Professor Rozansky is a very good teacher. I didn't get the best grade in the class, but I also came into college with a poor mathematics background. He is accessible outside of class if you need help. He really cares about his students even if he shows it in odd way and enjoys teaching Math which is why he'll tell cool math stories during class.
Professor Rozansky is extremely enthusiastic about his subject, which made me excited to learn. This is a good professor to have if you have a background in Calculus, because he will expand your knowledge. Keep in mind that he is very hands off, so if this is the first time you've taken calc, perhaps choose someone different.
Grades were based off of the final exam, two tests, and homework/quizzes. However, he doesn't have a set grade scale, which can be stressful... Linda Green wrote our final exam, but he gave us her old tests to prepare. He's hilarious, and his accent only adds to his personality!! Good, but not great if you don't have experience with calculus.
Unless you're naturally good at calculus, take someone else!! Rozansky does nothing but proofs all of class so when it comes to test time you have no idea what you're doing unless you teach yourself. Basically taught myself calculus all semester. Plus he never posts a single grade and doesn't make the final. Only received a final grade on CC
Rozansky is a very nice man with very good intentions. He is however too smart to teach a Calc 1 course. I had a calculus background so his lectures were merely a refresher and a chance to understand topics on a deeper level. However, many people in my class struggled because his way of teaching was very theoretical, without many concrete examples.
Rozansky's MATH 528 course was definitely challenging but fair for the material, I'd say. A truly awesome professor who has great intentions and truly cares for his students, but sometimes he can get quite theoretical in lecture which, while it can help us understand the material better, can also lead to great confusion. I enjoyed his class.
Math 528 is a very simple class, but he manages to make it very hard to get an A. I could not really follow what he was doing most of the time. He also does not curve with averages in the 60s.
Dr. Rozansky understands the topics he lectures very well, but will occasionally forget to define his notation which can make the class confusing - especially if you have skipped the reading. He is a very nice man, and gives passionate lectures. The tests were the entire sum of the class grade, and they were very easy. I didn't have to study much.
Math 233 with Rozansky was not a good experience. Taking 233 as a freshman for your first semester with Rozansky is not something I recommend (unless you're extremely good at math). He does so many proofs in class and rarely does examples. He fell quite behind the other 233 profs towards the beginning of the semester and would rush things.
He was very unorganized and didn't communicate with students very well outside of class. It took a week into the course just to get a syllabus. The lectures are filled with a lot of proofs and little examples. The TA's are most helpful and a lot of this course was self taught. He's very enthusiastic but hard to understand when you don't love math.
As a math major, I really enjoyed Rozansky's class. His lectures could be very theoretical which worked well for me. However, if you are looking to take MATH 233 just for practical applications then one of the other professors would probably be better. Can be disorganized - moves homework around a lot and is frequently a few minutes late.
Rozansky was alright. He is a nice guy, pushes back HW deadlines, is accessible outside of class, and gives a handful of amazing lectures. However, he focuses on theory so not many real examples are done in class and most of the material will be self taught from the textbook. He also has terrible communication skills and NEVER answers emails.
Rozansky is a very nice guy. As a professor, however, he is the definition of mediocre. His communication skills are terrible (does not answer emails) and lectures can become pretty incoherent. He also focuses WAY too much class time on proofs and hardly provides any useful examples. For success on exams, be ready to learn from the textbook.
As someone who has had many math professors, Prof Rozansky was a breath of fresh air. He is one of the only professors in the department who is engaging, hilarious, and clear. This class is pretty easy; the only reason I got an A- is because I took it during my 21 credit semester and didn't study for any of the tests, which are 100% of the grade.
His lectures are convoluted at best and often tangential. I did not meet a single person in this class who could reliably follow what he was talking about, this man made simple concepts far more complex than necessary. If you're willing to pay a few thousand dollars to watch a mildly funny comedian and teach yourself math then take this class.
Professor Rozansky is a really nice person, which makes it really hard to understand why he torments his students so much. His lectures are impossible to follow, even if you already understand the material. He is unreachable by email, doesn't go to his office hours, and doesn't tell you your grade is because he curves the final grade.
Doesnt answer emails, doesnt answer questions for tests or class info clearly, test are on examples from class that cant be found in the book, told class that initiative is punishable, long homework doesnt apply to tests, use proofs and theory and less actual examples. I liked and understood calc in 231 &232
Homework is extremely tedious and there's a lot of it. Lectures are primarily proofs/theory and are only necessary because he will put questions on the test that are only seen in examples from class. Even after class moved online, he never answered a single email I sent the entire semester. Nearly your entire grade comes from super difficult exams.
Not good at lecturing as he is hard to follow, and doesn't answer emails. To do well in this class, watch the chapter videos on Pearson & take notes on those, do all the homework and you should be good. I will give him credit for being accommodating when classes moved online; he gave us more time for exams. Also, he pushes back HW deadlines.
Lev is an incredibly caring and kind person. He genuinely wants all his students to do well and frequently pauses during lecture for questions. He actually encourages being interrupted or even corrected. The only downside is he tends to get super abstract with his explanations sometimes, making his lectures hard to understand. He is so nice tho.
Lev is a great guy but his lectures often go over everyone's head. He just isn't the best at explaining things, but he really tries hard and if you go to his office hours (which he is always accessible during), he will do his best to explain things again. He admits if you don't understand, it's his fault, so he always does his best.
Lev is a very kind person and seems to genuinely care for his students. His lectures were not very helpful, as most of them were spent covering abstract theoretical material that we didn't necessarily need to know. Barely any time spent covering concrete examples led to a lot of this class being self-taught. Great person, but an alright professor.
Taken online during a summer session - some aspects may vary slightly in person. Lev is an amazing instructor who shows he truly cares about his students. He is an easy going and kind spirit who offers help in class to anyone who asks. Although grading on few assignments, he listens to student's feedback and concerns when writing the next test.
Ok he is funny and brilliant with theoretical math. With that out of the way probably the worst teacher Ive ever had in my life, particularly in the virtual setting. Lectures are proofs, incoherent examples, gave us 18 SA problems in a 50 min test. Wont curve our midterms until after finals, mean on tests in the mid 50s, avoid this guy for calc!
AVOID LEV AT ALL COSTS. I went to the first week of lecture and havent gone since. His exams are crazy long so Im still barely passing, and I got an A- in Calc 1. There are only two exams and the final, and the mean of these exams were a 50 and 55. Top 20% of grades get As, next 30% get Bs, and the rest pray. Who can write the fastest?
While you can tell he has an exceptional skill for math, he is one of the worst professors I have ever had. We had to beg him to add homework as a percentage of our final grade, our tests are 15+ questions in 50 minutes, and the averages on exams are 50 and 55. Lectures often make no sense, and only around 20 of 80 students attend. Avoid for calc.
Professor Rozansky is not good at explaining math concepts because he is too smart for his own good. He also moves very fast and his lectures are rather boring. Tests are worth 85% of the grade and the averages on all of them are always below 60. Do not take him unless you are naturally gifted at math (or just at all)!
Rozansky went out of his way to make the semester more difficult for his students. MATH232 is a sequenced course and Rozansky chose to teach material which other students in different sections werent required to learn, and requested from the math department that we take a different final than the other students so he could test us on that material
Do not take this professor unless it is your last resort. This is one of those classes where you basically have to teach yourself everything using Khan Academy and YouTube videos to have a chance at passing. The other negative reviews aren't just salty about low grades; everyone worked their butts off only to get a class average of below 60!
Prof is not a coherent lecturer and is not accessible outside of class. If you're taking this just for the credit, you might not get it. If you need to learn Calc 2 for higher level math, you won't learn it efficiently with him. After all the work our class put in, all that most of us got was an unreasonably low grade and unnecessary stress.
Math 232 is a hard class and Lev doesn't make it too easy. Test averages were in the 50-60 range for both tests, however he does add a slight curve and if you do better on the final, for example from a B- test average to an A on the final, he will give you "special considerations" and bump you up a letter grade. I wouldn't suggest him however.
He would consistently spend most of class deriving a math concept instead of giving any concrete examples. As a result, I would often struggle on his tests. Post pandemic, he was consistently 5-10 min late for zoom lecture. Often continued class beyond its allotted time as a result. Great personality and fun Russian accent, but tough overall
I'll preface by saying that Lev is one of the most brilliant, hilarious professors I've met. However, that didn't translate into his teaching. Lectures often became hard to follow due to the amount of rigorous proofs (which weren't needed for the exams). However, exams were straightforward. If you like theory, take Lev. If not, choose someone else.
Professor Rozansky is incredibly smart and kind. He does a great job explaining the theory behind concepts, and he gives concrete examples as well (though there is more theory than examples). If you ask questions, he'll be more than happy to answer. Great professor, and sparked my love for math.
Do not take this class if you actually want to learn math. Lectures were incoherent and mainly proof-based, no application to what the test would cover. I could barely follow along with the lectures, and taught the whole class to myself using outside resources. If you need this credit, take it with another professor or online.
Professor Rozansky was funny and a nice guy but not a great professor. His notation was unnecessarily complicated and each lecture felt like a puzzle. You'll basically be teaching yourself all the material. However, he gives a lot of partial credit when grading so it's not impossible to do well. He's very disorganized and often late to class.
He's a great guy- just not a good professor. Decent at lecturing about proofs and the theory behind the concepts, but rarely gives actual examples or asks for class participation. Grade is all based on the tests, which is all solving problems that you don't actually know how to solve. Barebones syllabus, no schedule, no assigned reading, just bad.
Overall he is not too bad. He is a very friendly person and if you go to his office hours he will explain things for you until you understand. His class is very theoretical, so sometimes it is more helpful to learn it by yourself. Very test heavy just like other math classes, final worth for 45 percent and each midterm worth for 20 percent.
Explains the material as if we are grad students reviewing material, and is EXTREMELY theory based. His methods of teaching only include lecturing. He encourages participation but will raise his voice at you if you get the answer wrong or ask questions that he thinks are stupid. Both midterms had class average of around 45 or 50%.
Rozansky is an incredibly hilariously nice professor, but he is horrible for actually teaching you the information. He only writes theorems and explain the history behind the formulas, but rarely shows any math using what he teaches. Most of the people who were doing well in class had to teach themselves the subject through videos and the textbook.
He's a funny lecturer I'll give him that, but his lectures are very theoretical, and he expects you to know a lot coming into this class. This is a VERY exam-heavy class (finals weighed 50%). The exams are straightforward, but you would have to teach yourself everything. I did fine until I couldn't teach myself the last unit and bombed the final.
Heavily weighted but fair exams that follow the examples done in class. Lectures were theory-heavy, and he was sometimes a little late to class and usually goes over time. That being said I would still recommend taking him for 383 since the exams were not too difficult.
Hilarious professor with engaging lectures. But he was disorganized and inaccessible outside of class. Did not respond to emails. Beware that the final exam is very difficult: I scored in the high 90s on the midterms but got a 70 on the final, which contained solely new content and was not cumulative.
Math232 is a very difficult class and Professor Rozansky does not make it easy. His lectures can be vague at times and be a little hard to follow along. His exams are hard, take a long time to grade, and make up the majority of your final grade (85%). Professor Rozansky is also five late minutes late for most classes. A positive is that he's funny.
The lectures in this course were unnecessarily difficult to understand. I taught myself the whole course and he provided little to no assistance other than the poorly worded lectures. Homework was the only thing I used to teach myself the course. Exams were extremely difficult, even with extensive preparation. Exam averages were in 40-50% range.
Professor Rozansky is a very complicated teacher. He is caring but rude. Smart but a terrible lecturer and so many other contradicting things. 85% of my grade was made up of less than 30 questions where the average was a 40. The lectures are not informative and you will have to do a ton of research on calc outside of class.
Professor Rozansky had good intentions, but it did not translate whatsoever to his lectures. He clearly understands the material, but does not know how to explain it. His lectures are extremely poorly worded and I taught myself the entire curriculum. Exam averages were below 50%. I would not recommend taking this course with Professor Rozansky.
I thought Prof. Rozansky was a good teacher once I got to understand his style. He was a little bit difficult at first, but his lectures were very interesting. I would recommend this professor to anyone majoring/minoring in math, but non-majors may not like his teaching. Very conceptual and does a good job bringing the content into the big picture.
His lectures are incoherent and are easy to fall asleep in. You are better off learning the material on your own. Midterm averages were 40 to mid 50 percent. But he does curve grades a lot. Overall would not recommend if you care about learning the material.
A really nice person but not as great as a professor. He clearly knows what he's teaching, but his explanation aren't very easy to follow. Also, there weren't weekly deadlines for homework, which incentivised me to end up doing all of them at the end of the semester. However, following his schemes and exercises in lectures was quite helpful for me.
You can breeze through this class with little preparation if you've taken 347 before; however, make sure you study hard for the final (which was non-cumulative, and he sent the topics one day before). He is pretty funny but don't get too confident if you do well on the midterms (which are pretty fair) because the final makes or breaks your grade.
There is no need to show up for this class; he makes everything more confusing than it needs to be. I did all the Pearson homework, redoing it until I got a 100% because why wouldn't you. I taught myself with the textbook as I went through the homework and understood it so much better than from his lectures. And PLEASE, go to the Math Help Center!
Prof. Rozansky is a knowledgable and funny professor. However, the lectures are difficult to understand for the average student who has not been previously introduced to linear algebra. After watching some Khan Academy videos, I realized linear algebra should not be as complicated as Rozansky portrays it to be.
His lectures were SO confusing (like seriously) and I literally didn't learn a single thing attending class. I had to teach myself the entire class from the textbook, which fortunately was very clear and understandable. The reason he's a 2 instead of a 1 is that his exams were almost the same as the HW problems he would give.
Lev is clearly an gifted mathematician, but he just cannot run a classroom. Exams resemble the practice problems but we never received answer keys to the midterms so we couldn't review or determine if we needed a regrade. Gave very few practice problems, and had a TA proctor a midterm for him who was late and he himself was late to the final exam.
Lectures are horrible, material is way overcomplicated and extremely theoretical while exams and homework are applications. Just learn on your own by watching other professors on YouTube. Exams are difficult as there aren't many questions, mess up one question and you're at a 75%. Entire grade is based off exams as well.
He doesn't clearly give guidelines about what will be on the test and his lectures and homeworks are on two completely different things. Also, he is hard to access outside of class and often struggles with technology making it hard to keep track of what's happening and he has SUCH BAD handwriting.
Take Calc 1 with anybody other than him. Lev has two tests and you cannot drop or replace either (unlike other Calc 1 teachers). Questions on his test will be something entirely different than lecture or homework. Avoid.
While I do love his personality, his teaching style is horrendous. Grading scale: Two exams each worth 21%, final 42%, HW 16%. If you are redoing calc he may be good, but for newbies, he is not good. He hasn't answered a single one of my emails this entire semester. I have to teach myself everything for this class, which is very time-consuming.
Lev is a very smart mathmetician, but he lacks effective communication with the students. He is often confusing in his lectures as he skips steps and expects you to understand terms that he has not yet defined. His tests are not overly difficult, but they are short and if you get one question wrong it drastically drops your grade.
Lev shows up late on midterm days, his exams are only 5ish questions long, doesn't really give partial credit, references the online textbook during class because he has no lesson plan, his syllabus is barely a page long with practically no info, didn't give a five day warning before an exam, AND HAD HOMEWORK DUE THANKSGIVING DAY DURING BREAK.
Lev is a great person, but the worst teacher. Like he is so into math, and should be like a researcher or something, but I had to read the textbook to learn. I did not learn anything the entire semester from him. I stopped showing up to class because it honestly confused me even though the topics are easy. Also 84% of the grade comes from the exams
To whoever this may concern, I would rather swim with man-eating sharks than take this class again. Do not take this class if do not have experience. It will feel so hopeless that you would want to choke on your own intestines. Exams: 5 questions. No mic. Never tells you grades. Teaches at a high level. Skips steps. Pray if you get him RIP
Please don't take him, this will make you a hundred times better. Unless you have a few credit hours or you are a math genius. He teaches a lot of linear algebra, so if you want to learn two classes in one, go for it. The final is worth 60 percent of your grade and it was extremely difficult.
He is a good person but please do not take his class. Though he's passionate about the subjects the lectures are poorly structured and very difficult to understand. Exams are extraordinarily hard and worth basically the entire grade. A "decent" level of understanding that could get you a B+ with another professor may not even let you pass with him.
Prof. Rozansky is a nice person and helpful if you meet him outside of class. However, lectures are confusing, it's more like him just doing problems and theory rather than teaching. He doesn't respond to emails and doesn't put anything in the gradebook, so I didn't know what my grade was until it was put in Connect Carolina.
He is a chill professor, very understand for student and somewhat easy grader. He aslo record lecture. However his class is very unorganized. Syllabus doesnt include the grading percentage of exams, hw, etc. He didnt post grade for a whole semester and never reply to email.
Professor held a zoom class during the August lockdown. Do not take this class.
I took AP Calc in high school and still did awful. 40/50 is the average for midterms (he doesn't curve). He does not explain anything well, insulted my friend's intelligence, and conducts the class different from all other 231 classes. I didn't listen to his reviews, but please for your mental sake take this class with anyone else.
Rozansky's linear class is really easy. His tests were directly the same problems as homeworks. He doesn't always explain things extremely clearly but overall a good guy. Pretty funny. It may require some independent learning if you do not understand him, and his office hours are not always very forgiving as he can be a bit critical.
Funny guy, but really disorganized. Rescheduled each exam multiple times on short notices and had the wrong final exam date on the syallbus the entire semester. Also prone to assigning multiple homework assignments due within 24-48 hours.
Professor Rozansky is definitely a character- funny, a bit rude, not very clear or organized. I can safely say I only understood about half of what was discussed during lecture, but they were always entertaining. Tests weren't hard, even without previous calc experience. He will bump your grade up a lot if you do well on the final. Decent option.
Man I know so many people who took AP Calc and did fine, this man complicates things for no good reason. I'm a good student, but once you do poorly on one test its over. He is rude to students, and assigns four times the amount of hw as other profs. Our syllabus said ~86% of our grade was tests, at the end he threw out the 14% and it was only tests
I think he is actually fine. He is very nice and patient to answer questions in class. He also answers questions about homework on piazza. The exam is not too hard, and he gave enough materials to review. He does sometimes mess things up, but that actually does not matter too much in terms of learning
I took Calc BC in high school. Wanted to retake calc because I felt like I didn't learn it very well the first time around in high school. Roz is great if you have exposure to calc already. If you don't have previous exposure, he may too theoretical, and you will need to rely on youtube or textbooks. Clearly very caring and sweet. Tests were fair.
If you have no previous exposure to calc, do NOT take him. Even if you have previous exposure to calc, I would still take almost any other professor before taking him again. His lectures are unorganized and he speaks in theoreticals. This class was genuinely miserable. I had to teach myself all of the material. 100% of the grade was exams. Avoid.
I enjoyed Professor Rozansky's enthusiasm but lectures were very theoretical. Difficult to understand. The class was essentially 100% test graded. Each midterm was 25%, and the final was 40-50%. Doesn't respond to emails, changed due dates and exam dates often. Don't recommend taking him. So much more difficult than the other 233 profs.
The teaching style and setup of the class is outdated and unfit for the modern student. His lectures are proofs of complex physical concepts that are not prerequisites. He is unorganized, often digressing, and it is hard to believe he prepares for the lectures beforehand. Exams are the entire grade, and his lectures will not prepare for them.
DO NOT TAKE! Grades are 25% midterm 1, 25% midterm 2, 50% final. Silly guy, but terrible teacher -- I did not learn anything in class. Not clear on grading, says he "may" curve but not up front about it. We didn't know what our grade is at ANY point, and still will not know what we have in the class until the grades are final.
Professor Rozansky is very knowledgeable and has good teaching ability. However, he seems to care more about the material than the students: class is very disorganized, graded by 3 exams, and overall is set up without the interest of the students in mind. He is clearly forced to teach but just goes through the motions and doesn't care enough to try
The lectures are disorganized, so I ended up skipping most of them and learning through YouTube videos. The exams are simple and straightforward. The only challenge is the amount of questions—you need to be very familiar with the material to finish on time. Overall, if you're just looking for an easy GPA boost, I'd recommend taking his class.
Lev is a quirky professor, but his class can be a real challenge. While the tests aren't too difficult, his teaching style is disorganized and he often skips steps. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for me - it helped fill in the gaps. Overall, a decent option, but be prepared to put in the work.
DO take him if you are good at learning math yourself. Tests are manageable, just go through some YouTube lectures and his class notes, where he designs midterms from. You can even skip homework. DO NOT take him if you only learn in lectures.
Teaches at a very high level, useful for some future classes but extremely confusing in the moment. The clarity of his note-taking and lessons is below average, but he is a very kind person. He expects a lot of his students and truly wants them to do well. Weird, quirky, funny guy.
You can tell Lev is a really smart guy, but he just isn't a good teacher. Very disorganized. For example, after my second midterm grade, I asked him what my current overall grade was in the course, and he said he couldn't tell me because he computes curves at the end.
Dr. Rozansky is pretty funny, but he has no idea how to teach people who don't already know the content. The class midterm averages were almost always around 50%. He does curve the class a lot at the end, but it was not enough to really save my grade.
I didn't go to a single class, not even the first day, and not the last day either, or any day in between, yet I still got an A. I will not tell the you the strategy, but just knows its possible. The hardest part of the course was the very last concept (8.2). Otherwise, W Lev.
The lectures were kind of confusing but basically all of the material can be self taught through the textbook. His tests are really fair because he releases the exact 5 topics before every exam. A pretty chill guy.
Really nice guy who cares about his students a lot and curves pretty generously. Watched the lectures a day or two before the exam and barely did any practice problems. I think his lectures are quite good, just need to rewind occasionally. Homework and attendance are optional.
The class is EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED. Syllabus is barebones and we have no idea what to expect. Homework was on Pearson and did not sync with class material. He's terrible at explaining concepts and uses unnecessarily difficult Math jargon without explaining it. The only things I learned form this course was from youtube and self-study.
this review is for math 529. honestly i had him for dif eq as well and he is a bit disorganized and its hard to know how you're doing in the class but he really wants you to succeed, is very helpful in office hours, and even gives you a list of topics for the final as well. you will have to be motivated and do a lot of self studying.
Extremely disorganized and sometimes hard to follow lecturing. Despite this, he's so disorganized it's insanely funny. He also gives problem-by-problem breakdowns of exams which are immensely helpful. Don't schedule a class 15 minutes after because he will 100% run overtime every single class. Outside of this, he isn't too bad for UNC math profs.
Entire grade was from the tests. He did curve a lot but that says more about his teaching than anything. Basically, you're better off learning this from youtube videos and the textbook than him. Tests were very reasonable and easy, however. So, if you're confident in your self studying skills, he may be a good teacher for you.
Rozansky is really funny and you can tell he cares about his students, but his lectures are extremely disorganized and hard to follow. Not a bad class if you can self teach. There's 2 midterms worth 30% and a common final. His midterms aren't difficult, but 381 is pretty hard so the common final was rough.
