He's the best teacher this sememster. He's kind and has a passion for what he does.
Lew was the best teacher I had at LU while i was there (1 semester) it's a shame that man has to be associated with that place

What a great teacher he really has a passion for students. One of the most un appericated people that teach at Liberty.
Beware, this teacher is not as easy as everyone says he is. You can do all the reading for his quizzes, but he always seems to have some trick questions in there. He's pretty funny and it's an enjoyable class. But expect to do some studying(and guessing)
He was so funny. He was clear, and fun. He made class fun and looked for people to answer questions.
he was a great teacher but a little too strict for a GNED class. He tends to treat students as children not young adults
Pretty awesome prof! Definitely knows his stuff! Overall, it's an easy class.
great teacher, funny guy, strict, a little tough, but if you do the reading assignments, and study a little, you'll do well. he knows his stuff and i learned alot.....he gives you lots of extra credit opportunities. he's quite a jolly ol fella. lol
My favorite Liberty prof. The best teacher I think I've ever known. You will learn a great deal and do well in his class. Show up and read the material and you've got an A. The only people that don't ace the course didn't take it seriously and never did any work. Lots of E.C. opportunities.
Never (until him) have had a professor stand up and talk "if I wanted to do a dress code check, most guys in this class wouldn't pass". If you're gonna bother to talk about it, semi-threateningly,figure out a way to enforce it (no, never gone to class out of code). Otherwise, do not waste our time.
No doubt. He's the best there is. His class is fun and you learn a lot. He really helps you decide what you believe about various issues.
Was an ok class... he was to strict though and didnt really finish explainig things we were discussing
one of my favorite profs
he is a really fun teacher
I love Mr. Weider! He's so nice and so funny! I don't understand how you could fail his class unless you're just a bum.

Hes so funny and keeps me awake during class!!! He seems pretty fair
Funniest professor ever!!!!!!
He was completely rude to someone leaving his class cause they had to. I'm sorry, you don't just yell out in a class that size and yell at the girl! That's rude...ask to see her after class or something!!

Uh, he's ok. Funny, but can be somewhat annoying. I'd say pick him over some of the other GNED profs, but I heard Matthews was much better (I'm gonna switch to Matthews next semester)I have mixed feelings about Weider. Ya might like him, ya might not be able to stand him.
Weider is better.
trys WAY to hard to be funny, seems like he spends more time thinking about how he can make jokes rather than thinking about the lesson he's going to teach. he likes to "call" kids out in class, check the other GNED profs before you take this one
he's cool.
I love Weider because he is really passionate about what he's talking about. He doesn't make it easy for you to slack off (which is a good think, people), but if you study you'll get a good grade. He's also very helpful (and a very nice man) and a wise peer. I look up to him.
Mr. Weider is the man!! I love him so much! I just had him for freshman seminar, but it was easy, fun and now I'm taking him for GNED. He talks to me outside of class all the time and prayed for me when I had personal problems! Take him! He is so much better than the other teachers. You might actually have to read, but that's why you're in college
not helpful when I had to miss classes. He has his opinion and will not let students who disagree speak. My experiences were frustrating with him. The only good thing I'll say is that gned as a class does not do a very good job covering things in depth. I found it a waste of time and having a prof who took a dumb class way to seriously didn't help.
Great class, gives you an interesting perspective on life. Don't raise your hand and speak out unless you know what you are talking about, he likes to play the devil's advocate. Brings good relevant information that gives you a better perspective on today's world. He is pretty funny and he makes funny voices too... always a bonus.
Weider is: Uninventive, closed-minded, obnoxious, phony, arrogant, discourteous, dull, uninspiring, and he embodies the negative stereotype of the Christian that the secular world can’t stand. If you hold any opinions other than that of a right-wing zealot, take a different professor! I’m a Bible believing Christian with moderate political beliefs
I didn't like this class as much as last semester, with Gibson. Weider is fairly funny, but he seems to ramble a lot, and has some assignments that don't seem to be very helpful. He's also got some weird mannerisms and shakes himself when he thinks he's been really funny.
I absolutely love this professor. He is great. He is really smart and practices what he preaches. He has a cute laugh and very little homework. If you don't like going to class don't take this class cuz' there are lots of quizes. He has a great excuse policy. Overall an amazing professor who really cares about his students and thier lives.
He's a good guy, no reason not to take him except for Troy Matthews.
He's definately one of my favorite professors. His lectures are actually enjoyable to listen to and he really lets the class get involved with good discussions. Also, he has a great sense of humor. You'll never want to skip class if you take him!
I thought Weider was great. He does have quite a few quizes, but as long as you are in class to take them, they are easy. His lectures are pretty interesting, and he likes to get the student involved in the class which is great. If you want a good GNED prof go for Weider.
I have had Dr. Wieder for 2 semesters now, and I would reccomend him to anyone- the class is great- you learn just as much from interaction as you do from notes/lectures- he's pretty funny too.
He loves to teach, cares about his students and loves everything about his job. He is such a caring individual and you can tell that. He made GNED worth going to and so much fun. I would reccomend him any day!
Weider is easy if you pay attention and study, and isn't that boring. He's also a good guy, and very helpful if you have trouble (like sick days and stuff). Take him.
Easy class. Learned a lot. Does a good job of showing the relevency of the information. Probably the best GNED teacher.
Mr. Weider is awesome. Class is always interesting, and I love how he gets the students involved. An awesome professor!
Good teacher, makes it a LOT of fun. Lots of open discussion, a bunch of hot-button issues, and an easy and open forum for really asking the BIG questions.
Didn't like him. Tests were really hard. Not the nicest person and class was really boring b/c he talked about the same subject forever.
He's cool, teaches effectively, a little tough for a 1 credit class but we have to take it so oh well, I heard he was one of the easier GNED proffs, wouldnt surprise me
True man of God! Funny teacher that will bend over backward to help you if you are honest with him. I highly recommend him over any of the other profs. If you do take him, try getting to know him a little while you are there. You'll be glad you did.
He is awesome! I have learned so much in this class. He cares about the students and he is absolutely halarious! I definitely recommend him to everyone!
Crazy man that talk about one thing and has hard test and papers
I really enjoyed his class:) He teaches a lot of interesting things. He's also hilarious. His quizzes are pretty easy if you read, and tests are pretty easy if you study what he gives you to study. Take him!
I would not take this teacher again. He proof-texts some of his beliefs. He uses poor logic when rationalizing his liberal-leaning beliefs about music, modesty, and movies. If you are conservative, prepare to have your beliefs mocked. The man denigrates Christian high schools (speaking of which, isn't LCA one?), he mocks translations of the Bible while supporting the NIV as reliable, makes of fun of more traditional Christian music lovers, etc.
i love this guy. in n out of class, he is an awesome Bible believing, God fearing man. (and if you think that he doesn't know what he's talking about or that he in any way degrades others beliefs, *ehem whoever wrote the comment below this one* then youre a fool) ..i cant believe he said hed be the one running around the campfire.. hahahahah me too
Very personal guy who genuinely CARES about his students. He is a real servant of Christ who wishes to serve anyone and everyone. He doesn't lecture. He gets his students involved in the topics and discussions. He has a great sense of humor, and his testing is not difficult. As long as you do the readings, you do fine in his class.
At first I enjoyed his class, he is a decent teacher. Part of his job is to teach students how to think, but in my opinion, he is too simplistic in his own reasoning. He is okay. Not great, not horrible. I wouldn't take him again though.
If you want to have the most fun in GNED and also learn Weider is the way to go!
Prof. Weider was recommended to me by my pastor and I absolutely loved him. He has a great passion and care for his students and what he teaches. He's the best!
Dr. Weider is great! He walks around in the class and lets kids talk, so it keeps the lectures interesting. His opinions were all right on target, and makes you think about things. I would definitely reccomend him to anyone. The test are easy as long as you take notes in class.
He is a great prof. I loved him. I know all the GNED Teachers and I can honestly say that he is the BEST!!!
AWESOME MAN OF GOD AND TEACHER
BEST TEACHER AT LIBERTY! all other GNED teachers stink, take weider no matter what! he is the best teacher in the world. He is the man!
He's a total goofball who doesn't take himself too seriously. He'll have you cracking up almost every class session and he takes what is alot of times very common sense stuff and makes it somewhat interesting. there are lots of grades during the semester, but it's set up for you to get an A, so, just do the assignments and it's an easy A. Great guy
He's so funny and caring. He gave us his home phone number. He's so sweet and genuine. He's not tricky; he's straightforward. If you fail his class it's only 'cause you didn't follow the syllabus and stay on top of your work. He's really easy.
He is very funny and will definitly keep your attention.
awesome!!
he was a good teacher and knows what he is talking about, but i just didn't like him very much. i didn't like his personal opinions on the subjects which he cleary lets you know and some of the articles he made you read were contridicting themselves. i diodn't like that either, also he gives a quiz everyday in class and you cant go to the bathroom
BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD.
Weider is amazing!! I loved his class. He is very into what he teaches, and he is funny. I really enjoyed his class.
Weider is the man. Take him. Quizzes are a huge part of your final grade so read the articles before class. This guy is hilarious and makes this class fun. Very firm in his beliefs.
Prof. Weider is easy...just be careful to show up to every class, since he likes to give pop attendance quizzes.
Great prof. He is funny and outgoing. Can't wait till 102. Pop quizzes are easy of you just read the articles. EASY!!
He's great. His sense of humor's kind of corny, but he's pretty entertaining. He'll be honest w/you, and that's important in a class like this. Make sure, make sure, make sure you show up for quizzes and that you turn in assignments. VERY important.
He's awesome. He's funny and his stories make the material more interesting. The class is really easy and he gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. He's so nice and he's really there for students if they ever need him.
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME GUY!! Hilarious stories, relevant material; this was probably my favorite class. Always willing to go above and beyond the expectations of a professor to help out his students. Definitely one of LU's finest.
He explains worldviews very well and he does take opinions. He knows what he's talking about and practices what he preaches.
Professor Weider was a great teacher. He rarely takes attendance other than the quizzes, but you almost always know when you have a quiz because they are the day after the reading. Quizzes are generally pretty easy if you read. He seems pretty passionate about what he teaches and cares about his students. I would definitely recommend taking him.
Professor Weider is hilarious, and I love going to this class - even early in the morning. A lot of helpful information learned this semester. I just signed up for his GNED 102 class last night. Easy assignments. Just read what he tells you to and study = easy A.
Great prof. Helpful and he knows what he is talking about, he also gives lots of opportunities for extra credit.
Very clear on every subject that is discussed in GNED
He is excellent overall. Very funny, needed esp in the morning when you feel tired, wakes you up. Be careful to read the requirements for the Marriage Assignment CAREFULLY, I know (myself included) who got lower scores because they missed something.
Great professor, worth taking. Easy to understand and humorous, keeps class interesting.
Very exciting professor. The work (the content/ideas) in the class is very easy. BUT: he is also strict on technicalities. He deducts a massive amount of points if you don't exactly follow an assignment to the letter. This is ambigous, because he sometimes verbally gives additonal requirements to what is written on your assignment sheet.
Fun class, fun guy, you'll love his Yoda impression.
LOVED him. Great prof, really knows his stuff. Not a hard class if you pay attention and look over your notes a little before tests. Would definitely recommend him.
save yourself some trouble and do not take weider. his quizzes are nearly impossible to do well on. oh, and he overuses his silly yoda impression. enough already!
weider is ok, but I found him boring. He is overly opinionated and grades assignments very harshly and is often unclear about requirements. take van engen instead
Makes class interesting. His quizzes are pretty hard and make up a large portion of the final grade, but if you read the required articles you should do fine. The papers are fairly easy if you follow the directions carefully. Look forward to taking him for GNED 102 next semester.
Good Teacher. It's no wonder he's the head of the GNED department.
The BEST GNED teacher at LU. He's funny and he knows it, but he also knows when to be serious. Does a great job of using metaphors to make his points easier to understand. Really shows students that he cares for them, gives them his home phone number! And his Yoda impression is awesome.
AWESOME professor. I have thoroughly enjoyed having Weider teach GNED. He's funny, interesting to listen to, passionate about what he teaches, and extremely helpful if you talk to him about things. His quizzes and tests are a little more difficult, but his teaching style and ability to keep my attention make up for that!
Lew Weider is not a man of integrity. My sister was dying in the hospital, I emailed every prof and told them the situation needed to leave to see her. The only prof. that said no was Weider. Some ethics prof... What a hypocritical jerk. He deserves to burn in hell with all the people he routinely condemns in class
He is Awesome!!! One of the greatest teachers ever!! He is very funny. The class can be easy if you study. He is available to help you. He knows what he teaches.
Whoever wrote that last post just doesn't like the rules at Liberty. If you're out of dress code you should be asked to leave the class. He's a great professor and cares for his students. He is passionate about teaching and loves the students.
Very good teacher overall, teaches from powerpoints from the book, but you don't really need the book to do good. Is more then willing to work with you if you need to miss class, or make things up. He let me take the final exam at a different time so I could propose to my now fiancé!
He should burn in hell with the people he condemns? Really? How about this...he's a normal guy, non-judgemental, just asks that you follow the rules of the school. The class isn't hard, he encourages people to participate and ask questions...quizzes aren't hard, tests/papers aren't hard, he gives you free 100's for showing up sometimes. Come on!
Such an amazing teacher. He tells like it is and how he feels about the topics talked about in class. He doesnt pressure you to think in his way he just uses truth in the word. So easy and great class conversations even in the large classes.
Overall a good, interesting teacher. Explains things well. Not a lot of work and test/quizzes are very easy. Caring and relates well with his students.
Weider is a cool guy. He seems like a very cool person. However, he is very opinionated & tends to contradict himself. Btw, GNED 101 & 102 are not basic overviews of math, science, history, etc. Its another Bible class. Im not for it & im not against it. It can be very interesting some days & death others. Know who u are before you take this class.
Dr. Weider, was an amazing teacher. I had him three years ago for his 2 classes, and now he is one of the greatest mentors in my life. He is so willing to invest and love you where you are at. I would recommend him for anyone who wants an amazing teacher
People are dramatic. Some days I love this class, but most days it is boring. He's a good teacher, but for me the material is not very interesting or helpful. He is not afraid to offend you, but he's still encouraging and likes when people ask questions and contribute. It was extremely easy. Overall, he's a pretty average teacher.
Dr. Weider is the man! His class is easy and he almost always makes class interesting. I definitely recommend him.
He is a really good teacher and, for the most part, keeps the class interesting (which for most people, it's really boring). I really liked this class until about the last month we just started talking about nothing just to fill up time..if you have to take this (Which you do!) take Weider. He's pretty funny and makes this class pretty bearable.
Weider is an excellent professor, I would highly recommend him for both GNED 101 and 102. 102 is much more interesting than 101. He has a lot of good stories, and gives excellent Christian counsel.
Best GNED Teacher there is. Hands Down. Ask anyone. If you want an A you have to stay on top of things though! Still, he is the easiest prof. for the class.
Easily the best GNED professor! He is a great guy who loves his students and loves God. Lectures are funny and interesting. Easy class. Great professor.
The coolest and funniest guy you may ever have for a "contemporary issues" class. I didnt want to take it, but I ended up getting him my Fall semester, and then chose to take him AGAIN the following Spring term for 102. Fantastic, fun, and a great teacher! I highly recommend him. I dont think anyone could hate Lew Weider.
I liked his class though he did make some insulting comments a couple of times and sometime things are confusing and he doesn't explain them real well.
Extremely easy class (I never paid much attention). Just fill out the notes, study the study sheets, and do the extra-textbook reading and you're golden. Funny guy, made class interesting enough.
He was generally rather interesting and took a survey about half-way through the semester to see what we wanted him to change. He has a reading assignment almost every week that is rediculously dull, but you need to know specifics from it for a quiz. Only a few major tests. Good prof!
I really liked him as a professor. He always challenges students in their views without putting them down. He took fun class surveys. There was little homework, and the quizzes and tests are easy.
Great teacher. Prof Weider will keep a boring topic as interesting a possible. Was skilled at applying material to one' life.
Weider is great! Entertaining class. Very easy, but you still have to do your readings. Don't blow off too many assignments. Pay attention to the study guides...they helpful and comprehensive. Dr. Weider has a great sense of humor!
Weider is a great guy, just dont mess with him and the clickers. We hate the clickers and he especially hates the clickers. He loses his temper with those things!
Great professor. Keeps GNED 101 very interesting and always applicable. You have to do your assignments, but they are easy and not time-consuming. Great professor.
Since its a mandatory class, Lew needs to make the material more interesting. Anyone with common sense will hate this class. He grades too strictly as well.
I had Dr. Weider for both GNED 101 & 102 and he is pretty good...but then again...many other GNED teachers are very good as well. He is a little strict with grades but you shouldn't have any problems with him since this class is quite easy.
great teacher, very intriguing!
Overall great guy. Cares about his students. Great at explaining the topics & making you think. Do the readings & you should do fine on (numerous) quizzes. He is very sweet, but very straight-forward. Encourages you to be such a critical thinker that you even double-check what he says - I really respect that about him.
Excellent best prof
He's a great professor. He always keeps the material interesting, and he has a great sense of humor. A definite must-have professor.
GREAT PROFESSOR!!very helpful
Fantastic teacher! Always looked forward to going to Dr. Weider's class. Cares about each student individually and is always a joy to be around.
Awesome Professor, I tried to get him for the 102, but I got Prof. Van Engen instead...he's supposed to be great too! I loved coming to this class, Prof. Weider is hilarious and very entertaining, no surprises on tests or for assignments! I would highly recommend!
Dr. Weider is by far one of my favourite profs at LU. He so deeply cares for the well being of every single one of his students, and is always willing to pray for you if you need it. His lectures are funny, interesting, and informative and I learned a TON from his class. Definitely take him if you have the chance!
He's awesome! Highly recommend! He understands the material well and deeply cares for his students
Dr. Weider's class was very fun! I felt like I did learn a good bit(although honestly the material was not super difficult). Weider is a fun teacher and really cares about his students. He always like to laugh and tell stories and although I feel like the class wasn't super challenging or thought provoking I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in BWVW
Excellent teacher! Doctor Weider makes his classes fun, interesting, and enjoyable. He has a real sense of humor which adds to his message. but don't think that means this class isn't deep! he analyzes the ideas and concepts of worldview, allowing us all to learn much in the class. This class is required for LU students, and I recommend Dr. Weider.
Hilarious, one of my most enjoyable classes, surely engaging, and really caring guy! 5/5 proffesor!
Funny and interesting. Helped out and gave extra credit. Thought provoking class!
Dr. Weider is a great professor! He's very easy and his lectures were pretty interesting and well explained. He also gives you extra credit chances. However, pretty much every professor teaching BWVW 100-level classes are great too. Nonetheless, great professor.
Dr. Weider is an excellent teacher! The class was really easy and the textbook was all fill-in-the-blanks. He is very strict about dress code if he sees someone out of line, but he's a really great prof who is dedicated to the material, very caring of his students, and makes the class funny and interesting.
Lew Weider is a really good BWVW teacher. The class is definitely doable and I would definitely take his class again. I feel that he cares about the students and is passionate about what he teaches.
Weider was an alright teacher. His lectures are long and are most the time boring. He does tell good stories though. Weekly reading assignments and weekly quizzes which can sometimes be confusing.
I came into Liberty University not interested in God at all. I'm not saying that Dr. Weider provided me with some exhilarating reason to believe in God, but he helped me work through some things in my life via his lectures. He is a nonbiased professor who is open to answering questions from students regardless of their religious preferences.
Dr. Weider is really great. I would take another BWVW class with him if I had to take another BWVW class.
Prof. Weider is a cool guy to take for BWVW 101102. He hates it if you text in class, though.
If you take BWVW, take from Dr. Weider!! He's my favorite professor so far. You do have to do some work, but it's easy and worth it. There are also attendance quizzes - as if you need a reason to attend class. Dr. Weider is very entertaining, and truly cares for his students. Do buy the book, unless you plan on writing down every powerpoint slide.
Dr. Weider is a great professor that can really explain topics clearly and concisely while always adding an element of humor.
Many chances for EC. Gives random in-class assignments for some classes when there aren't quizzes and there are reading assignments and quizzes almost every class, so you MUST read AND go in order to pass (unless you do almost all the EC). He tells lots of stories, and gives examples. Is so great, highly recommend, would take him for another class.
Professor Weider is great! He is funny and keeps your attention. Show up to class and you will do fine on the tests. Also sometimes when he takes attendance he will count it as a quiz grade. I always looked forward to hearing him say "IT'S FRIDAY!" He's the best. Go take his class.
Definitely a good choice.
Dr. Weider is a true gem. I always look forward to his joyous personality every day before class. I'd always look forward to him saying "It's FRIDAY" He knows how to put the curriculum into a practical way that's entertaining and sometimes humorous. Overall a FANTASTIC professor.
Dr. Weider is super great! His lectures are informative and generally engaging, even in a class of 400. He also has a really caring and funny personality which adds a lot to the class.
One of my absolute favorite professors. He is interesting enough to keep your focus but he does not go overboard with the jokes so that the class is distracted. Everyone should take his class!!!
I really respect Weider. He seems to really care about his students and his subject. I also appreciate the way he approaches touchy topics. Good guy. 10/10 would recommend.
Dr. Weider is a very fun, easygoing professor. His lectures and stories are entertaining and informative. Just like BWVW 101, the class is very easy. Review notes a bit before tests and you are fine.
Dr. Weider has a great reputation on campus; however, I did not have a great experience in class. His lectures tended to be story-heavy and not substance oriented. While not a bad professor, the course tended to be redundant and somewhat humorous, while instead I believe he should have focused more heavily on enforcing the Christian view of issues.
Dr. Weider is a great professor. He's very passionate about his material, and speaks loudly so it keeps me awake. He's somewhat strict but also gives lots of extra credit. I recommend him as a good worldview class professor choice.
I loved this professor! He's another Liberty professor that preaches instead of teaches though. He is probably one of the funniest professors I have ever had.
Tests are fairly easy, quizzes are non-open book, overall, good teacher and most enjoyed class of the semester.
Very passionate about what he speaks about. Quizzes online every week are easy to forget about.
Dr. Weider has a fabulous reputation on campus but I found him to be the most ingenuine professor. He spent more time telling boring stories than teaching a biblical worldview. This class is boring enough but he makes it worse. I approached him after class with a Bible study question and I have never received a more a more uncaring, brief response.
Dr. Weider is a very genuine professor. His class is pretty easy as long as you pay attention in class. Definitely not a class to stress over. His lectures are pretty enjoyable because he tells a LOT of stories. He definitely tries to make it a fun environment and its usually a pretty chill class.
A great leader and a great man. It was an absolute pleasure to be in his class, even though I did not agree with all his opinions. He presents himself very clearly, and you'd have to try to get worse than a B.
Really good lectures Not a lot of homework given
Weider is the man, plain and simple. His ratings speak for themselves. He is a genuine guy with tons of knowledge. Quizzes and tests are easy if you study and listen. He is really great at engaging the class and always makes the topics interesting. Great guy, 10/10 recommend trying to get him for Biblical Worldview.
Don't really know him to comment on personality. Class was anything than focus on content, it was all about APA format and grammar, felt more like a English/comp class. Super hard grader, forget getting a 100 on an assignment, not allowed in this class. Tons of empty reading, read 6 chapters to have 20 question quiz??? Wouldn't recommend, sorry
Professor Weider really cares about his students and he will help your faith grow as he explains the biblical worldview that Christians should have. Even if you aren't a Christian he is respectful and the class will still be enjoyable.
Dr. Weider is an amazing professor! He takes time to explain each topic we learn about and is happy to answer questions. He is funny but also makes sure we get our work done! He also provides a lot of extra credit opportunities!
Dr. Weider is one of my favorite professors. He's funny, genuine, and you learn a lot in his class. He takes time to answer questions and is very friendly.
Weider is the man, simple as that. He's down to earth, a great speaker, and truly cares about each of his students. He gives out his number at the beginning of the year, so that says something. Fairly easy class if you do your (minimal) reading. Absolutely hysterical guy. He's not afraid to speak the truth and is passionate about what he teaches.
Dr. Weider is the most caring professor ever. He is very passionate about teaching the importance of having a worldview, and opens every class to discussions/questions. He truly cares about the students. Quizzes once a week over the reading material, tests are a little harder, workbook used, but didn't have to turn in at end of semester.
Dr. Weider was very open to taking questions, kind, and a pretty easy grader. My class was almost 2 hours long each week but I never got bored because of his great teaching style and engaging personality. You have to keep up with the online quizzes and a few assignments, but overall his class was manageable and beneficial.
Although very interesting, this course was not difficult. I Would recommend taking Dr. Weider for Biblical World View. As long as you read for the quizzes and study for the midterm and final you will get an A.
Dr. Weider is good and funny professor who also cares about his students very much. The class itself is pretty easy just keep with the reading and the homework.
Loved his lectures! He made it easy to stay awake in a morning lecture. My only complaint is how hard his tests were.
Prof. Weider doesn't require a lot of homework, but make sure you take the quizzes seriously because they make or break your grade. Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities. Sometimes Weider would make some of the lecture topics and content awkward, and sometimes is hard to listen to for a whole class. But an easy class for sure.
He is always there to help and be a great person
Do. Not. Take. His. Class. Strict grader and when he gives an assignment about your opinion, he tells you you're wrong. Lots and lots of reading (6-10 chapters every week) for a short quiz where every question is worth 3 points. Not really a Christ-like professor. More like "listen to me and conform to my views or fail".
Dr Weider is a great professor. He really cares about his students and has very reasonable expectations because he wants you to pass. You also get lots of extra credit opportunities.
Overall, I enjoyed this class and sitting under Dr. Weider's lectures. He was very funny, engaging, and interacted with the class a lot. There are 10 or so quizzes assigned throughout the semester, but they're all online, and all you need to do to prepare is read a brief article. The class is lecture heavy, but your coursebook has guided notes.
He spent more time focusing on the format of my citations and the fact that he didn't like my Bible translation (KJV) than giving me actual feedback. I started just writing papers I knew HE'D like because that was the only way you'd get a decent grade. Very condescending and the videos were so boring. I gave up watching them because they hurt me.
Dr. Weider was a great professor! He cares about his students and is passionate about what he teaches. There are quizzes every week but they are easy as long as you have the books required. The exams are also easy, there are quizlets for all of them.
Dr. Weider does a great job of explaining the Biblical worldview and contemporary moral issues. His lectures are extremely easy to follow, and the information is conveyed clearly. He offers a TON of extra credit opportunities! Dr. Weider also encourages students to think for themselves instead of forcing an idea on them.
Very caring professor and easy to listen to. He makes his lectures interactive and is heavily respected by many at the school. An easy choice for a first or second semester class. He can be kind of tedious at times, such as randomized attendance recordings. Otherwise he is good at what he does.
Dr. Weider is passionate about what he teaches. He genuinely cares about his students and is available for help. Assignments are easy. Plenty of extra credit opportunities... you'd have to try hard to not get an A.
Dr. Weider is a great professor for RLGN105. He loves the material and wants to share his passion with his students. He is available and more than willing to help with assignments, pray with you, and be there for you. Assignments and quizzes are easy, and he provides a ton of extra credit. Great guy
Dr. Weider is a great professor and his class (which is not a part of my major) is incredible. It was an 8:15 class and I showed up every time, he is a great lecturer and involves the class in great ways. He knows what he is talking about and is super generous with extra credit. He is an easy A and he makes it that way, you just have to try.
Dr. Weider is straight forward, candid, and funny. Weekly articles to read and a ten question quiz to go with it. As long as you show up to class and put in a little bit of effort, you can do really well.
Weider is such a great professor. He tells stories really well and keeps you engaged.
Easy class to pass. If you need, you can gain up to 60 points from Extra credit. Love Professor Weider's teaching style and personability. Very interesting lectures. Take this course!
Very knowledgeable in his field. Easy but go to class, it will be worth it in terms of understanding lectures. We have a workbook and sometimes he will have you write down things that are not in there. He is also really interesting to listen to. Hes really funny and very smart. 10000000000/10 would take again:)
Prof. Weidner would say that he isn't giving his opinion on the matters spoken about but he clearly was and he would mock the opposing side. He took this class way too seriously for a gen-ed. The attendance policy is extremely strict, and he cares a lot about the dress code. Would not recommend take rlgn with literally any other prof.
Professor Weider is low-key intense, but he cares about his students! He knows what he believes and wants to make sure we're seeking truth, so although it might come across as him pushing his views on others, he's just passionate and tells us he wants us to figure out what we believe on our own. No open book/open note, sadly.
I love this man!!! He is not only an amazing professor but a wonderful person too. He gave each of us his phone number and told us to call him any time. He teaches amazing content in a fun way. I was never bored even though I was almost always exhausted. And he is still there for me even though I'm not in his class anymore. LOVE HIM BEYOND WORDS!!
He is a funny guy that does pretty good lectures, but his quizzes are actual nightmares. The articles and questions don't match up half the time and those questions usually don't make sense. If these quizzes were actually good, I would have an A instead of a B-. It's the only thing dragging my grade down.
Dr. Weider taught our fall 2022 RLGN 105 course well. He bases his lectures from his work text, which are helpful, and actively engages with students in his lectures. He includes weekly quizzes, two exams, and a paper as well. He creates a comfortable environment for learning, and I like his respect he had towards our class as well.
Lew is a good person and is likable to most. My only beef is that this is a level 100 class and ALL the quizzes/exams were closed book & notes. Even though he gave study guides, there was a LOT on them. So, unless you are ok with spending more time than should be necessary to get an A, I would pass on taking this class with Lew or even in person.
For a gen-ed class, Dr. Weider honestly made it a bit harder than it had to be. His midterm and final aren't open note, so be prepared to study a lot- plus, he won't round up grades since it's a point-based system. Upsides are that he provides extra credit opportunities and posts recordings of his lectures online for those absent.
There are so many bad reviews about Weider but tbh, he was my favorite professor. His lectures were always entertaining and he has a great sense of humor, I always enjoyed attending his class. There is a lot of criteria to memorize for the final exam as it is not open note, but other than that, there really isn't anything to complain about. 10/10!
Acts as if its not a 100 level class
I would try to get a different professor if you can. I dreaded the class and half of the things he teaches are not completely accurate.
I personally was not a huge fan of Dr. Weider. He seems to be a nice man, but does hit sensitive topics hard.
Way extra for a 100-level class. For the quizzes, you could literally memorize the reading and still fail because half the time, nothing matches up.
Weider gives good lectures, he talks a lot about controversial subjects but it's so entertaining. Tests are ridiculously hard for a 100 level class. Even if you study good, you will be doomed. Attendance is so strict as well. No electronics in class and the TA is so annoying too.
Dr. Weider has very good lectures. Although sometimes controversial, he tackles topics that are very important to learn. The only thing I didn't like was that the quizzes can be quite difficult and he can be a relatively tough grader on papers
Dr. Weider is a really engaging lecturer who has a lot of fun stories. He also gives a solid chunk of extra credit. The homework quizzes can be quite difficult though. Also, there is a lot of information that has to be known for the midterm and final, although he provides study guides that lay out almost everything you need to know.
The class material is super easy to comprehend, but often unnecessary and redundant. The exams in this class are outrageous and ridiculous, with 5+ options on each question and wording to get you to fail. >>Zero tolerance for late assignments no matter what<<
Great Professor! Talks about interesting topics and the quizzes are easy to the point that you should need to read the material twice and take the quiz and make an A. The Midterm has 50 questions and the Final has 100 questions. You do have to study alot for a 105 course but if you pay attention and take good notes then you will do fine. Easy A.
Some people below have said he's sometimes inaccurate, but he literally tells you to use critical thinking to challenge everything you hear and learn right? It shouldn't matter if he is wrong about certain things if you THINK. And yes. The quizzes aren't open note. Were you expecting college to be free credits? The workload is VERY light anyway.
gives you his phone number first day. truly an amazing man. class is so interesting. every week quizzes. no technology in class at all. not open note. requires class so take him. hes awesome
Professor Weider was a great professor. It was my first ever large lecture class, and he made it seem very comfortable. I think he was a hilarious and intelligent professor. I would definitely enroll in another one of his classes.
He's a good professor
Dr. Weider knows what he's talking about. However, there did seem to be instances where the content he taught didn't line up with what these issues are like in the real world. There were multiple times in this class when I didn't understand why he said what he said, and a lot of the content wasn't necessarily true.
I loved having Weider as a professor and 10/10 would take a class with him again! He was quite passionate about the topics discussed and remained firm in truth, but still very respectful. Quite funny as well in my opinion!
Dr. Wider is extremely nice and caring towards his students and he can be very funny at times but for a 100 level 2 credit course, It can actually be quite hard because you literally have to memorize everything to succeed. He is also a little bit too strict on people.
I still have two weeks left in this course and the fact that I'm concerned about getting a B is CRAAAZZY for a 100-level class. He is impossible to please and grades based off of opinion. If you fix one thing, he'll find another thing. You get the cycle. Anyways, RIDICULOUS. Steer clear fr
Professor Weider's class is engaging, with interesting discussions, but the workload is heavy. Quizzes and exams require thorough preparation. unstuck AI was a lifesaver for study prep. No electronics policy, so staying focused is key. Overall, a rewarding but challenging course.
He was good, he talks a lot though. He challenges students to actually think about the opinions they have, a lot of controversy in class, in a good way.
Doesn't challenge the students at all in class and takes the gen-ed class too seriously. Quizzes are hardly related to what was taught and the questions are made as a "gotcha" instead of to show that you actually learned.
Doesn't allow any electronics to be used in class and all quizzes are closed notes. He acts like this isn't a 100 level class. You also need to talk to the GSA to be allowed to use the bathroom which is ridiculous.
I had to pour my blood sweat and tears in getting an A it's a gen-Ed bro and quit making me tell the GSAs when I have to use the bathroom

I think his heart is in the right place but often in lecture I found him saying things that were either misinformed or generally incorrect. Also when speaking one on one or through email there were several instances where he came off pretty condescending. Want to give him the benefit of the doubt but personally not a fan.
I LOVE professor Weider! He is smart, kind, patient, and hilarious. The coarse load is relatively light with occasional simple quizzes, an essay, and midterms and finals. The only thing about his class I would be wary of is his sometimes very heavy and graphic topics without any warning.
Really cares about what he is teaching.
Dr. Weider makes the lectures interesting with personal stories or funny remarks, and it's pretty easy to pay attention. I always looked forward to attending his lectures. His quizzes are pretty easy as long as you carefully read the passage a few times over. Exams are a bit more challenging. They contain a lot more small details from lectures.
Lew is amazing, but he's old school. He definitely could update how he uses Canvas and let us take the Final Exam online. RLGN is a required class, and not everyone agrees with every topic, but that is okay. Be open-minded and pay attention, and you will learn something. I barely took notes and did well!
This course is one of the easiest ones that you have to take at liberty. Pay attention, and get the work done. The class overall is very easy, and this professor is enjoyable, but a bit cringe. Turn in work on time, and be prepared for the exams. Most of the exams you can take based on common knowledge and you'll get an A.
Lou is a good teacher but old school. He also is a tough grader on papers even though it is a GenEd class, which is ridiculous. He doesn't allow any electronics in the class and the GSA walks around to make sure. But if you don't have electronics to take attendance you get a tardy. Shouldn't have to ask to use the bathroom. I'm 19 years old.
He's alright. I didn't dislike him, but he definitely wasn't one of my favorite professors. Very nice guy (took prayer requests before class, talked with students before/afterwards), but his lectures were awkward at times, and he loves repeating certain phrases every class that honestly drove me crazy. He's knowledgeable in the topics discussed.
I think that Lew means well, but he often says things in class that I think are inappropriate (like specifically for class) and it often borders on weird. Additionally, there are a lot of tough and sensitive topics covered in this class, and I felt like he lacked empathy and knowledge.
Very recommended
Easy class, funny for the most part. Basic christian ethics that many people already know, so it can drag a bit
Dont Take RLGN with Lew Weider. Not the worst just there is sooo much better at liberty. I heard that Tory Mathews is good, check him.The deadlines and Grading was brutal. The GSA/TA Alexander Lee is the worst. Beware of him. If you wanted to use the bathroom, you had to leave your phone on the table. The Hardest Class I've ever taken.
Professor Weider was very passionate about the class's subject matter. However, if you want to pass the final exam, make sure to study the court cases and the Bible verses mentioned! Professor Weirder often made interesting comments to engage the class, so be warned!
His lectures have allowed me to develop a biblical worldview on topics that are present today. He is also very funny and makes jokes throughout the class.
