She is a horrible teacher! She "shows" us how to do the math problems, but doesn't tell us how she got what she did.
not a good teacher she knows the subject just doesn't know how to explain it...i would not recommend her for any class.....

I THINK SHE'S A GREAT PROFESSOR WHO DOESNT GET ENOUGH RESPECT.. TAKE IT FROM ME WANTED TO TAKE HE CLASS FOR ANOTHER MATH CLASS SHE WAS TEACHING AND WAS UNABLE TO GET IN DUE TO SCHEDULING AND IT WAS A DISASTER..SO AS SOON A POSSIBLE I WILL RETURN TOO HER ..SHE INVALUABLE
A waste of time.....she does not know how to explain material in class nor does she cover anyhting but the most simplistic of problems and expects you to know everything. She expects homework to be completed before she lectures it in class and spends too much time talking about her personal life instead of covering lessons.
Personally, I think shes a nice lady and loves teaching. Even though, she does not teach clearly. She doesn't state the problems right, and the tests are extremely difficult. She also expects from you to already KNOW the stuff. When in reality? All the students are there to LEARN. Also, she gets frustrated very easily. Good at math? take her.
she's a horrible teacher. Please take someone else you will regret it. She doesn't know how to teach and she assumes everyone knows algebra.
I was able to sneak into this class online a couple weeks after the start date. She worked with me daily to make sure I understood what was due and when and answered all my questions via email. Very helpful. Id recommend her again. Might even give another class online a try with her.
She's so rude. At the last minute she change to points system and now a semester of work is useless. DON"T TAKE HER. HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!
Not a very clear teacher; very short tests; talked about gas, housing prices, and her life a lot.
she's a good teacher but if your lost you MUST ask questions or you'll be left behind. "ask question's"
She has good intentions and is very competent of the subject matter. But her accent makes it difficult to understand her; but she is always willing to help you out during her office hours. The way she awards partial credit is inconsistent, which can make things frustrating.
Does not know how to teach, its her way or the highway. Doesn't allow room to grow. Worst teacher ever!
She is the worst teacher ever! Like most of the others said, she is very knowledgeable in the subject, but she has no idea in the world how to teach it. I didn't realize that by taking an in-class math course, i would be required to spend 5 hours a night doing homework online. This class is a joke and if anyway possble, DON'T TAKE HER!!!!
She assigns ALOT of hw every class meeting. Probably about 40 questions ever night, and her hw is done throughout an online course. Very hard to understand bc she speaks so low. She never lets anyone talk among themselves and expects no noise in her classroom. BORING!!!!!!
she is a nice teacher, knows everything she is doing, but the online program does way more stuff then what she teaches, it drags you behind. which makes it a hard class, you can almost make this into an online course because it teaches you online if you don't get it. and online courses aren't easy or interesting.
I'm taking Mrs. Lui right now she is so hard! I have failed every single test I've taken in her class. Even though I may get the answer correct I get marked down because I didn't solve it her way! Its ridiculous its her way or no way and you will FAIL!!! I would never take her again and never reccomend her to a friend!
I have 57 plus units, and I have to say this teacher is by far the worst teacher at BC handsdown, shes very stubborn, doesnt allow you to help your neighbor, doesnt allow phones in class (yet she can use hers), treats the class like children, doesnt want you to just show your work but show your work her way which she learned in China. DO NOT TAKE!!
Very hard to keep up if you are not great at math, would not recommend this teacher. I switched into a differerent math class 3 weeks into it. The online program she uses is not user friendly at all. I felt like the class was pointless since so much was being done online that I could have just taken it online and avoided the mandatory attendance.
She is nice. She is hard. She will make you stay on the math lab for 5-8 hours, technically. Her way of explaining is sometimes confusing. I really wouldn't recommend her if you are not a fast learner, or if you are shy to ask questions. I wasn't therefore I was safe. Good luck
Very hard professor; however, this class will tank my GPA. Because of her difficulty I will be a god at trigonometry. And I have Miss Liu to thank for it. Do not take it you want an easy A, but if you are willing to challenge yourself miss Liu will push you to new levels.
Nice lady, but the exams are nothing like the lecture notes...use her office hours if you want succeed in her class :) my personal advice do the hardest problems on the homework(the even ones)because that's what the exams look like. . .
I took Mrs. Liu class during the summer i thought her class sucked. Its pretty boring. She explains the materials good but they are not what you expect on the test. Her class may be easy but I don't really recommend anyone to take her over the summer.
She's a very good professor. If you come to class everyday and stay on top of you work, you will do very good.
I had to withdrawal from this class 1 month in because I was falling so far behind. I'm the type of person who needs extra help in math, and I never got that. She's not clear, she's always late, and shows easy examples on the board and saves the hard ones for tests. Do yourself a favor and avoid taking any of her classes.
this professor was not helpful at all. when you ask a question she desnt answer it because "e aldy told us". she had us use an online class which was inconvinent. also, it was hard to understand her lectures because of her accent. if you dont have graph paper fior every note taking assignment she will flip
classes would be about thirty minutes and then she would go to lunch and not answer any of our questions
Ms. Lui is by far the worst professor I've ever had. Her accent will drive you crazy, and her saying "Questions? Questions? please" after every 30 seconds will make you lose your mind. She goes over the easiest problems in the ch. and puts the harder ones in tests. All the homework is done online, which takes 3 times more time to complete.
Do not take this class! shes very hard to understand and is very rude! I had the flu one day and i had emailed her the day before saying that I was not able to come to class monday to take the test. She refused to let me take it and my grade dropped 20%. That was our last test given. So my strong C went to a strong F
its math.....go to class EVERY day. Do the 20 question homework everynight. Write the ones down that you didnt understand and show them to her or any of the free math tutors at BC. There is NOTHING on the test that wasnt on the homework. Its your fault if you didnt understand the HARD problems in the test, it WAS on the hw you probably didnt do it.
She explains easy problems in class, leaves the most difficult ones for the test. Completely flips out if someone tries to help out a classmate. One of our classmates got kicked out for helping out (answering her question) out loud. Yeah, kicked out for the class. Leaves no room for extra points. Don't take this class .
Shes hard to understand. No options to get extra grade. The only extra points 10% extra you can get is if the whole semester no phones ring or vibrate. The class has only 3 chances. A classmates cell vibrated for the 3rd time and we all lost extra points. it's not a fair thing to do to leave extrapoints to other classmates having their phones off.
She is an extremely tough grader and she will put things on the test that she never talked about, sometimes it was things from previous classes like algebra, and said that we should know it. Her tests got proggressively longer, to the point that no one was able to finish the last two tests (meaning there was to much material for the time allotted.)
Evil with a capital E. Do not take this class. The tests are not what you learn in class. If you use the office hours she doesnt really explain to you the questions you ask. She's not helpful and she blames everything on the "Maybe is the lunch I had earlier, I cant think Math" Why is she a math teacher then? Gives no extra point assignments.
I have 3 kids, all of them natural birth. This class is by far one hardest things I have ever encountered. I rather have another kid than take her class again. She was nice to me, compared to her attitude towards other classmates. But, her tests and homework are completely overwhelming. At the end of the day, you wont learn much.
do not take math with this teacher, period.
It is a math class, and EXPECT to do homework every night. I put in 20 hours plus a week for the course. Meaning every waking hour I have. Got an A. Very proud. She is great helping me during office hours and answering my questions. If u want a certain grade, then got to put in the work. Otherwise, u will not learn, i.e. fail!
Got an A, hardest class I ever taken. Math is my worst subject, but follow these steps from beginning to the end u will succeed also. 1. Go to class, don't make excuses. 2. Do your homework, don't make excuses. 3. Ask questions, she will help you. U need to keep up with your end of the bargain also!
It is a math class, you earn as much as you a put your efforts in. I ask her questions all the time, and she ANSWER them all. Whether I get all she says, not all the time. That is the nature of the subject. She is helpful, if u ask. If you keep ? to yourself, no one can help u. It may take several attempts to understand a problem, but ask her...
As a student, u r responsible for ur learning. Know BC has math tutors, u can goto. Ask her questions, she helped me so much during her Office Hours. You need to make yourself available for help...
She is not the most easy professor to pass the class but if you devote your time you'll love the class. could be confusing at time but thats why you ask questions and would gladly help during class after or in her office hours. Her office hours would help you tremendously mostly before an exam.
Doesn't go over everything on the tests. Home work is all done online. Hard to understand. Goes over easy questions in class saves hard ones for test/homework
FORGET EVERYTHING YOU LEARNED BEFORE, she'll want you to do everything in her methods, and her grading is unreasonable. She marks down point if you don't completely show every single step even if you have the correct answer. She makes awful racist comments at times and also doesn't respond her e-mails often.
The worst teacher I have ever experienced. She does not teach well, she is condescending, she grades harshly and frivolously, she moves quickly, and she is unapproachable. Everything I learned can be credited to tutoring . There are many things I can list, but the list Ive given should suffice and serve as the overall message: DO NOT TAKE HER.
Very Unclear. Is not understanding would not recommend.
NOT A GOOD TEACHER. VERY UNCLEAR. Does NOT teach. My class was an hour long and she would dismiss us 15 minutes early. I once asked a question and she said that the answers were in the back of the book.
Shes a horrible professor. She goes over the examples on every chapter(easiest ones) and expects us to answer the hardest ones on the test. And she expects you to put in 4 hours of hw everyday after a daily 4 hour lecture. I strongly, stongly do not recomend taking her. Instead, take the hybrid math class online. Its 100 times easier.
This class was pretty hard. If you go to tutoring it will help but I chose to just withdraw. The material is really difficult and she assigns so much homework each night.
She is extremely hard to understand, and her english is very broken. She is a very nice lady personally but she has little interaction with students rather than actually teaching she does one of each problem and assigns 50 problems for the night.
Professor Liu cares for her students and is clearly passionate about her job. Show up everyday prepared to take notes and do the homework, and class will be enjoyable and you will learn a lot. She works hard to give test feedback, she answered the many questions we had every day, and made us aware of what we should study for. She is fa fair grader.
Professor expects you to know everything from the start. Very fast paced teaching. Mindlessly assigns massive amounts of HW that is not worth points technically, but some of those HW problems will appear on the test. My friend and I did HW for 3+ hours per day and at least 4 days per week for 3 months straight until he decided to drop the class..
Okay seriously considered changing my whole major once in the first two weeks of this class. Made me regret not checking this professor on here before signing up. Literally explains nothing and goes on rants about, this time, the flu. Jesus Christ, I really really hope that Im able to study enough on my own to pass. Negative infinity rating.
She's very caring, she held extra help zoom sessions over the weekend and had office hours M-Th which lasted an hour. She also encourages asking questions. However, working with her was frustrating. Many days she held class several minutes over time, and the only graded assignments are quizzes/tests. The final counts as a regular test grade.
Shes a good professor but tougher than most. Shes really sweet and cares for her students but her teaching is really cut and dry. She does encourage questions but its still difficult to keep up. If youre good at math from the start shes definitely the teacher for you. If you struggle skip her.
She spends half of the class talking about the virus and how she does not like the campuss policy on it. She hardly teaches. She only shows you how to do the easy problems and then gives you hard problems on homework and quizzes. She gives larges amounts of homework. I spent 4 hours a night on homework and was still struggling. Do not take her.
Would never take again. Terrible lectures, encouraged students to ask questions but would never actually answer the question asked. Constantly wasted class time talking about her kids. Extremely rude to students. No retakes. Worst educator I have ever met in my life. Do NOT take
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE MISERABLE.
Oh boy...Worst teacher or professor I have EVER HAD. Horrible lectures and doesn't really answer questions. She's condescending when you ask. Rants pretty much the whole class time. Rude to students and made unsavory remarks like "its not my job to teach you" Grades wrong and will take off points for things like writing too big. DO NOT TAKE HER
AWFUL! She never explains any of the lessons, and tests are very rough. Insane amounts of homework that she never has time to review because she talks about her kids. Homework isn't even for credit, but you will fail without solving every problem (out of 100s). The grade is weighted 30/70 (quizzes/tests). DO NOT TAKE, anything else is better.
Ms. Liu is great. Always open to help you when you're struggling. Explains things well. She's a strict grader, but she doesn't weight homework against your grade. Tests and quizzes are all that matter.
Do not take her class, take another professor. I did not understand her at all. A lot of people in my class dropped out. I rather get a W than an F. She sometimes didn't know the answer to the question. She always talks about her family when she's giving us a lesson. She gave us homework but never graded it. Worst professor I had.
Ms. Liu is amazing truly, a lot of people will tell you not to take her class because it's so "difficult", the people who claim these absurd ideas never had a challenging math class before such as calc 2. Ms. Liu is one of the best math professors I have ever met. People will just complain about to course work, I'm a psych major and i loved her.
Awesome person but a terrible professor. you have to learn on your own and go to class to watch her solve problems at light speed and without explaining.
Ms. Li is an amazing professor, she is accessible outside of class and has long office hours to help her students, I would highly recommend you take her. Just keep in mind that she takes a bit to grade things, other than that I would say she is one of the best professors I have ever taken at BC and would encourage you to take her class
Hard class but it's Calc II, just put in the work outside of class to understand it. Calc II is no easy commitment. Very nice and understanding professor, lectures aren't amazing but will do whatever she can to help you. You practically have infinite time on tests and quizzes. I have stayed 2 hours past class ending for a test.
Just run. If the idea of teaching is just solve couple of examples with out even teaching the materials, she aces it. She is always late to the class, cancels many lectures, spends first half of the class to tell stories, gives you tones of home works (not collected) and gives you the most difficult exams she can. how is she still able to work?
You'd learn just about the same amount as if you just read the textbook itself. You'll be given the easiest, most straightforward examples, only to be faced with something you don't recognize on the test. Often showed late to class, but made up for it with extra time during quizzes/exams.
Run!!, ima be so fr this is one of the worst professors i've have ever taken in my whole life, not only did she skip class majority of the time, she gave wrong fomulas and insisted on doing it her way or else she would fail you. She only talked about her kids 24/7 and then would blame the class for not allowing her to teach. so much hw no graded
Guys >-
Lowkey, run! this professor was one of the worst
I had to get a restraning order
Tell me why I did so much homework, just for none of the material to even come up on the test, and then the professor blames the class for not reminding her to cover that section. ( The homework isn't graded).
r@$h professor. Needs a reality check and should take a course on how to give proper feedback. I'm genuinly surpised she's made it this far in life with something up his A5$. Beware, even if you follow insturctions on the test she can still give out a 0 with no feedback that will either leave you with a C if you get 100 on everything else or a D+
Don't get me wrong, she's a sweet lady. She offers help outside of class, like her office hours and asks if anyone has questions. However, she assigns a lot of homework, daily homework that is not graded but you're expected to complete anyways. I took the course with lab time however, no lab time was given, it was all lecture. I wouldn't recommend.
She literally started taking points off my test for asking questions during lectures, like OMG get a life girly.
I never wore my seatbelt driving to school because I wanted to not make it to her class, she made every lesson horrible
I was hospitalized after taking this class. Be prepared to spend 12 hours a week on ungraded homework if you choose to take this class.
She's a wonderful person and she genuinely cares to help you understand the material.
This is the kind of class that you take if you already know the material. With that said there's plenty of professors that are far more helpful and give better feedback than her. She doesn't have to try to be a decent professor since she has tenure though. Really just avoid her class if you value your time and actually want to learn something.
If you need to take a refresh course for algebra to remember how to do it, trust me you have a better time with online videos due to the intensity. Con -She often talks about the most random things mid teaching -Bad at getting straight the point -There are about 9 ish test that will dictate your final grade -No homework for grades
Ima be so fr i told the professor the first week of class that i had open heart surgery on this day, tell me why she MOVES OUR FINAL TO THIS DAY, and forbid me not, she claims because of her son needed help applying to scholarships? like what :/
Honesty she cares about her students. Always remind students to go to office hours. Allows extra time on exams if you need it, sometimes 10-20mins after class time is over. Sweet and motherly. Great at going over the material.
I thought she was a fine professor. She does tend to ramble in class about unrelated topics. A lot of ungraded homework assigned daily, but if you do it then you'll be well prepared for anything on the exams. The class average for every exam was around a 50% though, so maybe I'm just an outlier. Free pen if you get 100% on an exam :)
