Hard to understand at first, makes the material easy though. Tells you exactly whats on the tests. Tests come from homework and classwork problems. He is a really good professor if you even remotely like math.
He is quite hard to understand at first. His tests are pulled straight from homework and examples from class. That makes it a little easier but if you can't understand him then your screwed.
great teacher. tells you exactly what will be on the test and the test questions are right from homework. The material is just hard though.
Very hard to understand at the begining but eventually learn how to understand. Not real well at explaining things but test are easy if you just do homework.
Professor Wang was very helpful in trying to teach the material we covered in class. He made himself available for extra instruction during office hours, and always was willing to go over any problems with homework. His tests were straight from the homework, and the final was straight from the tests.
His tests are VERY easy if you do ALL OF THE HOME WORK---hard if you do little or none. There are no quizzes, just 4 exams and final. So it's kinda hard to know how you're doing.. But overall good easy class. He's very helpful!!
Personally, I find that his english is not that hard to understand if you think about what he is saying. Anyway, it's true. He goes over the tests beforehand, question by question and takes the question type directly from the homework. I'm one of those people who hated math before encountering Wang. I'm looking forward to taking him again.
Hard to understand, talks really fast. Not clear at all on teaching the material. Tests are easy if you do the homework but if you don't understand the material, you can't do the homework and the easy tests become hard.
Excellent class. He is very helpful. His test questions come from the homework he assigns. If you do the homework, you will earn an A!
do your hw and ull be fine. his tests come straight out of it! he is extremely clear and is willing to help his students.
Very nice professor, friendly, and helpful. In general, if you do your homework you will be fine. The questions come almost exactly from the homework. Not to mention he goes over all u need to know the class before the exam. Always open to help...wants his students to succeed. I really enjoyed his class.
Dr. Wang is a great teacher. I was a little worried at first that I wouldn't be able to understand his accent, but it was no problem. He is very clear, always answers questions, and always makes sure you know what is going to be on tests. He is really nice on top of that. Do the homework and there is nor reason you cannot get a B or even an A.
Overall good teacher. As long as you take notes and do your homework, you'll be fine. Tests come directly from homework problems. If you don't do well on tests, take a different teacher. He only has 4 tests for the grade for the class.
Awesome professor. Reviews all the test material before the test. test problems are from the homework. extremely helpful and really nice guy!!! i wish he taught the classes i'm taking now!
He's kinda hard to understand but if you try you'll get it. He does a lot of examples and if you do the homework you'll be fine. He also let's you ask any questions the class before a test and tells you exactly what will be on there. He randomly takes attendance.
H/W is not required but is pretty much what the test is. He goes over every single detail and is willing to help you understand anything. Easy class.
Hated the class.. You only have 4 grades.. 3 test and a 1 final. Homework is not mandatory and he takes attendance but it doesn't count for anything.
Great professor. He is the most clear math teacher I have ever encountered. Three test grades and a final; tests are straight from homework & examples done in class. He tells you the layout of each test in advance. Grades mostly on the concepts; you will get majority credit if you demonstrate knowledge of the process, even if the answer's wrong.
great prof. He is extremely fair and you know what to expect from him. Has 4 exams and a final with the lowest out of the 4 dropped and the final replaces the new low test grade. Simply put he is the kind of teacher that will make you work, but will reward you if you do. He concentrates on fundamentals than the complex difficult probs
Great prof and very organized. You always know when your exam will be, what is going to be on the exam, how many probs on it, and will never have probs on exam you've never encountered. He is always willing to help with hw and holds review session a class before the exam.
Awesome professor!! If you don't pass his class is because you are lazy and don't even try. He tells you what is in the test, no surprises like other math teachers. The review is the actual test, if you don't ask you'll not do well, all you need is to ask, study the review problems and quizzes and PRACTICE!!!!!!
Really great professor! I ended up taking him for Linear after having him for Calc 3. He is very clear with what he expects from you. Each test is outlined the class before the test. The class was challenging and interesting.
GREAT PROFESSOR! Tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams without giving you the actual problem. Attendance is not mandatory, but in order to get a good grade you will want to be in class. You will have to do homework and study, but that is to be expected in any upper level math class.Highly recommended.
Excellent teacher! Tells you what the exam questions will be a week before the exam. Very helpful and explains things many different ways. Highly recommend!
Awesome Professor! He makes sure to explain the material thoroughly and doesn't surprise you on the tests. The homework is basically the tests and he gives you an outline of what will be on the test the class before. He is great. Definitely recommend.
I LOVE DR. WANG! I would take him again in a heartbeat. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam. HW is not graded but you MUST do it if you want an A in the class. GO TO HIS OFFICE FOR HELP! He is extremely patient and understanding. I made an A in his class. He drops the lowest test also. Just print his notes, & understand the HW!
I took three class from Dr.Wang which were calc1, calc3, and D.E. I can almost guarantee that you wont find better professors. You will only have 4 Tests and final, each counts 25% and he drop the lowest. All tests problems are reasonable. It will be challenging, but no worries if your attendance is good b/c they are all from class and homeworks.
The BEST math professor I've had at KSU yet. His test are identical to the assigned hw problems. If you go to his office he will answer any question. The final is just questions from old tests. Go to class, pay attention, do the hw & you're good.
He's a great professor. He is always willing to help you. Just do your homework and you will get an A.
Dr. Wang is an excellent professor. He presents the material in two general forms. First he will present the material the way a mathematician would have it written, followed by a simple "how-to" explanation. Do the assigned homework, go to class, ask question, go to his office for extra help. I look forward to more courses with Dr. Wang!
Excellent professor! He is very helpful and clear what he is teaching about. Homework is not mandatory but you must do homework to get good grades. He gives you outline before the test. I would take him again for another class, definitely!!
He is the best professor I ever had. Very clear about what he is teaching and very helpful! Highly recommend.
As long as you listen to his lectures and do homework you will do well in the course. He emphasizes materials that will show up on your exams so it won't be a surprise as long as you are not paying attention in class. Nicest professor I met and he comes to office everyday just in case somebody needs help. Answers email promptly as well. Take him!
He gives you the tools you need to succeed. I took his Calc II class this summer and made an A. You go to class, take good notes, and do all your homework, and you will do well. Gives detailed layout of tests, and questions are pretty much from hw. You shouldn't be surprised. I would definitely take him again. A hard class but you can do it.
Dr. Wang is easily the best math professor I've ever had. He moves at a steady, constant pace and explains everything you need to know in detail. Provides extensive review sessions before each test, and the final is optional if you like your grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I'd recommend not skipping unless you can get notes from a friend.
In Differential Equations, he is extremely clear about what to expect on the tests, and often one or two homework problems will appear on the test. If you struggle with any topics, he is always available in his office and very helpful. Thus, if you do all the homework and know how to work the problems, you should be able to ace the exams.
Differential equations is not that easy. He strives for student success and will always be there to help you in class or office hours. Lectures are on point and are very beneficial for success. He does harder examples so you can do well on tests. Tests are not difficult, as long as you pay attention and DO THE OPTIONAL HOMEWORK, they are similar ;)
He gives you a question by question layout of what to expect on the tests two days before each test. The finals in both of these classes were made up of the same exact questions from previous tests during the semester. If you go to his office hours, he explains everything you question in thorough steps. I would definitely take him again!
Great professor and class. Only has 4 tests and an optional final. Goes over many examples in class and explains the material in easy to understand terms. Clearly tells us exactly what the problems will be on the test to allow adequate preparation. Wish I had more professors like this.
I have over one hundred credit hours and Dr. Wang is by far the best instructor I have ever had. He breaks things down into its simplest components in order to help you understand it. If all my teachers were this clear I would never leave college!
There are 4 tests and an optional final, final grade is average of the highest 4. Assigns minimal homework for every test, test problems come straight from the homework. He also reviews the day before every test and covers all types of problems on the test he is also readily available. If you do the HW and go to class you will get an A. Great prof
Not bad at all. Can skip final if you already have A in class
Straight from eastern hemisphere. Teaches straight from online posted notes. Worked examples not posted online and typically used as test problems. 4 tests and a final, one of the 5 gets dropped. I made straight 100s on each test and skipped class after thanksgiving. Easy grader and test problems are not hard, though this is an abstract topic.
The only reason you need the book is to take the option homework which he bases the tests on. He explains criteria clearly and thoroughly and lets you exempt the final if you do well on all the other tests. Would recommend and would take again.
Fantastic professor. I made a C in Math 1190, but I earned an A in this course. He wants to see his students succeed. He has an open office hour where you can visit and ask questions, but he'll always arrange something if you email him. Homework is from the book (not graded). Ask questions. 4 tests, final optional. Gives detailed layout of tests.
Dr. Wang is pretty great. He doesn't grade the homework so you don't have to do it, but some of the test problems come directly from it. The tests are pretty easy, too, as he always gives a detailed layout of what is going to be on there and tries to give you easier problems to test concept. He's also willing to answer any and all questions.
He has 3 tests and a final and allows you to drop one test. His tests are just class or homework problems with different numbers. He doesn't check if you do homework. Very nice guy. English is his second language, but I never had trouble understanding him. I also took him for calc 2. Couldn't recommend him enough.
Only 4 tests and can exempt final if you are satisfied with your grade. He is a great lecturer and will answer any questions during or outside class. I would definitely take him again.
Professor Wang cares more for your understanding of the concepts over tricking you with algebra. Tests are actually very fair. And he's such a smart guy and knows mathematics like the back of his hand. If you have the opportunity to do so, take him! He is such a great Professor and made Differential Equations such an engaging class
Pretty good professor for linear algebra, barely showed up and finished with a high B.
Super clear and concise. 4 tests and a cumulative final which you can exempt if the 4 tests are high enough. Show up, do the optional homework if you want to practice. Take the first test seriously. He gives a detailed layout of every test, including the final. Just put in the work.
One of the best math professors Ive ever had. Has very straight forward & direct lectures. The homework is not graded, do it anyway because it really prepares you for the exams. There are 4 exams & a cumulative final. He only counts the best 4 out of all 5 exams, so you can omit the final if youre happy with your 4 test averages.
This class will be extremely challenging. Thankfully, Dr. Wang makes himself very accessible to students. I attended his office hours very frequently. He took the time to help me. Sometimes there would be so many students in his office, that we would go out in the hallway to the white board and he would lecture us all. Hard class. Helpful professor
Dr. Wang teaches a straightforward math class--with no applications of the material. If you want a math class with more word problems than arithmetic, take a different course. Sometimes he will spend 30 minutes on a method we won't even use. He also packs many problems into his tests, so if you don't study, you won't pass!
Don't let the "algebra" fool you. Very difficult course, & professor. Must study hard every test to pass w/ a C. No curves, a C 70.00, B 80.00, an A 90.00, ON THE DOT. Gives 0 partial. No free pts. Strict grading policy. Attendance was taken everyday but only grades were 4 tests. Optional HW that is not graded. Avoid if possible.
The "detailed layouts" Wang gives are really just structures for the test, which is fine if you know the material already. He won't offer any review questions outside of the homework, which doesn't count for anything, and he doesn't go over it. On a normal day, he lectures, does a few problems, and moves on. He won't touch that topic again.
Super generous with points on tests. He lectures very well (good english), and knows this stuff like the back of his hand. Didn't do the 1 hour of homework recommended for every test and got a D. Did 1 hour of studying and made a 100. Tests are not difficult at all if you go to class and do a few problems at home. He gives the EXACT plan for tests.
I had him for linear algebra and he was a great professor. He lectures well and is very reasonable with difficulty. Theres 4 exams and an optional final that replaces the lowest exam, he gives a layout of every exam which tells you everything thatll be on it. Tests can be long but if you study its not a big deal. An A is very doable.
Just do the homework. Keep up with it week by week and don't wait until a couple of days before the test to start it. Exams are super long, so you need to be able to do the problems quickly. The final is optional. Easy A, if you do the homework.
Calc 2 is no walk in the park but this professor gives you everything you need to pass the class with a GOOD GRADE! HW comes from select questions from the book, not graded, 3 tests that include easy HW problems. Gives a very detailed layout of how many questions and what type of questions will be on the test. Final replaces lowest grade. TAKE HIM!
Professor Wang is super nice. He's willing to answer questions and you can go see in his office hours or email him. He likes to go slow to make sure you fully understand the concepts. Homework isn't optional but he uses the questions from it on tests. He gives detailed layouts of the test and review day before each one. Attendance is extra credit.
3 tests and a final which you can exempt if you are happy with your test grades. He is pretty chill, I did not put too much effort into the class and came out with a B. If you study well it should be an easy A. He gave 10 points back on a test as long as you didn't miss more than 2 classes. Only con is he has a bit of an accent
Dr. Wang is super laid back. Your grade consists of a quiz, 3 tests, and a final. Homework is optional but his tests are based on it so if you do it you'll do really well on the tests. Gives attendance based extra credit. This class is generally hard to understand but he made it a breeze. Replies to emails quickly and is super willing to help.
All of Dr. Wang's classes are structured the same. The tests are 90% of the grade and the homework is optional, but the tests are taken directly from the lectures and homework, so if you attend every lecture and do even a minimal amount of homework you'll be perfectly prepared for the tests, he also replaces your lowest test grade with the final.
Heavy accent. Class is very book dependent. Optional HW, but the tests are word for word HW problems. DO THE HW. No bonus, few grades just 3 tests. Online was rough but I think He'd be GoodInPerson Finding tutoring for this subject was rough. It's very parallel to discrete math and I wish I took that instead. It's a mutt of discrete/linear/logic.
This class had 3 tests and a final (dropped lowest test grade). He tells you exactly what he's going to put on the tests which is super helpful, but is tough at grading sometimes. I put an equal sign and he took of a point for that which I didn't really get why, but whatever. Super easy if you do optional hw and listen during lecture.
Dr. Wang is a nice professor but his class at least online was tough. He assigned 1 quiz, 3 test and a final. If you're really good at math and at taking test he's fine. He claims to give partial credit, but really doesn't imo, instead he's a tough grader. I wouldn't take him again.
ended with an 89.5! worst professor ever, doesn't even teach or explain anything and he knows the material is already hard. Wouldn't even bump my grade up. I'm pretty sure he writes his own reviews because nothing I read on here was even true and actually tried and attended every class. I love calculus and I took this class for fun.
Dr. Wang is a great option for taking Calculus I. He really cares about his students and explain detailed what you have to do in the course. He is one of the best professor that I have ever had.
I've never been good at math so I was just looking to pass. Dr. Wang actually cares about his students. HW problems are harder than the test so it makes the tests easier. He gives a detailed layout of each exam, & all are open note. He doesn't curve which is fair because of all the resources we can use, and the time we are allotted. Take him!!
Dr. Wang was awesome! He gives a detailed lay out of every test and gives example problems. No surprise questions very straight forward. You have to menorize formulas but its not too bad. I highly recommend taking him. It is not an easy A but compared to other professors he would be my first choice.
I took the HON course; he says it just goes a bit deeper in class. Test questions just like HWs & he gives a VERY clear outline for each exam. HWs are in Pearson, due 10 days after they're assigned, but lack a set schedule otherwise & aren't in d2L. This prof. wants to help, (email, office hours) though I didn't take advantage. Memorize formulas!
While he gives a breakdown before each test, those 4 tests make up all of your class grade. He was very harsh on small algebra mistakes (Eg: I lost 80% of the points on a question for missing a minus sign while doing all the differential equation correctly.) Tests are usually 5-7 "questions" which have 3-4 parts each.
Exemplary math professor. Had Professor Wang for MATH 2306 this semester and it has been a wonderful experience. Only thing to look out for is making sure you are putting in the necessary study time and asking questions. There are 4 exams and those make up your entire grade, so if you mess up too bad, it might hurt your grade. He's great though!!
Final grade is based on 3 tests and a final exam. He gives a rundown of what will be on the test but is pretty vague about it. He gives partial credit but is not very lenient with it at all. Would not recommend for this difficult class
I have received an F in the class. Should've been more consistent. He is extremely brutal with the mistakes that you make. My GPA has taken a hit and put my scholarship at risk. I failed all three exams back to back. I've done well in Calculus I and II but this professor was quite harsh. His teaching style is too erratic. Can't teach very well.
I understood the material very well from Dr. Wang. Your grades are made up of three exams and a final, and no formula sheets allowed (which made things a little difficult). Goes over what will be on the exam the day before, so you don't go into exams blindly. Tests are similar to examples done in class or easy hw problems (optional). Not too bad!
be weary of reviews.
hes cool but u fr gotta be a nerd to enjoy this class. he grades really really tough. would not recommend
I took him for Calc 2 and well it will be hard and require time to do good. He only grades based off tests and final meaning no homework, so you need to make sure you can do good on those. Lectures are content heavy but that comes with high level math classes, one thing about him is he is always open to questions and wants everyone to understand.
Professor only grades 3 tests + 1 final exam. He grades based on how he feels that day. Takes a lot of points off for small errors and you must show all credit. Gives helpful test reviews. Easy to reach outside class and is passionate about math.
He's accessible outside of class and the lectures are pretty much on point. My suggestion for people who are about to take Calculus 2, make sure you brush up on algebra and trig, I would say that's probably the most important skill to have in any high level math class. Overall, he's a great professor.
*Took him for Math 4260* Dr. Wang is the best math teacher I've had (as a math major). He really wants everyone to do well. All you have to do is go to class, he tells you almost word for word what's going to be on the test. I know some people just don't like math, but this is the best option if you have to take a class IMO. Wish I found him sooner
Make no mistake- DiffyQs is a difficult class which requires putting in work. Prof Wang broke down the concepts in class amazingly. The class before an exam he would also give you a full layout of the exam so there were no surprises. Your grade is made up of only 4 exams though so take them seriously, but if you can do the HW you can do the exams.
if your not already intuitive when it comes to math his lecture can be hard to follow because he will go over it really fast and not do every step of the problem. Be prepared to practice alot on yor own to learn the material. but not a horrible class you will survive
Professor Cheng's class was very simple to follow with great explanations to each topic. A day before the test, he will give you the layout of the exam and work practice problems on those specific questions for students to understand. You do not have mandatory homework but it is recommended to do them because some questions will be on the exam.
Best diff eq professor I could chosen. Very clear-cut teaching style and explains things well. Willing to help before or after class. Homework is not required, but personally, I recommend doing all of it. The class is in no way an easy A or anything. If you like math, you'll latch on well. Otherwise, you may have to put in some extra work.
Entire grade is average of three tests (fourth test is optional and will replace lowest previous grade). Dr. Wang is very straightforward and clear about what skills are needed on the tests, and he provides detailed breakdowns of exactly what types of questions are going to be on the tests. If you can follow directions, you'll do fine in his class.
Prof wang is everything you want in a math prof. He made complex topics easy to understand. He always gives an accurate rundown of the test the class before, and the tests were extremely easy. He always says, " I don't do complicated questions bc I just want to make sure you understand the content and nothing more."
He is a nice professor, but If you are not familiar with calculus then do not take this course with him. He goes fast and hard to understand, skips a lot of steps when solving questions. He says attendance does not matter but if you miss class then you are far behind to come back. Do not take him if you are a busy person. Extremely hard class!
Please look at the recent reviews before selecting this professor!! He is a nice person but he goes too fast when teaching and skips a lot of crucial steps that bite you when you are in the test. I tried asking for help but again he went too fast to where I did not understand him. Please, please if you are not good with math do not take him!!!!
I took him over the summer, and while it wasn't easy, it was the best way to tackle Calc 1! He's super organized and genuinely wants you to succeed. He offers two reviews before each test: an overview and a detailed session with examples very similar to the test. Tests mirror the homework, and the final replaces your lowest grade. Great class!
If you attend class and pay attention, it should be an easy A. He's clear about his lectures and very knowledgeable about Calc. He structures his tests very well. It's hard not to be prepared for his exams because he lays it out beforehand so you know what's on the test. Would take again.
Really great guy who wants you to succeed. Fairly grades tests and will give partial credit for doing correct processes even if the answer is incorrect.
If you are good in math and can sit for a long time with tests, you can take him. His test is super long, and some of those are complicated numbers. Tests are not hard but long. Half the class dropped after test 1. He spoke clearly, but sometimes his voice went up and down so hard it was hard to hear. 3 exams; final can be optional.
He's good at answering student's questions and lecturing, and the tests are exactly like practice problems.
Dr. Wang provides exam outlines, however, it's important to thoroughly practice the exam review he provides by going over the questions multiple times. The exams are not difficult, but without sufficient practice, they can be challenging. His grading is not super lenient so make sure your process does not differ too much from the actual answer.
