Excellent lecturer, should consider teaching upper level chem. :)

very easy class, very nice prof, an A is easy to attain. take her!!!
It is a disservice to Towson that this woman isnt teaching upper level
I had a 97 and so can you. She's easy.
More dedicated to your success than even you are. Very personable and helpful. Great teacher!
Lina ROCKS!!! She only wants to help you. She's easy because she is clear and explains things so well. Universities should take note: The PHd doesnt mean you can teach- lina should have a full professorship!!
VERY easy...A little strange, but what science teacher isn't? She's the best. TAKE HER!
You have to study chemistry to learn it, but Prof.Ladon really makes it fun. AND she shares lots of information about the application of the course, so you know where in the real world the information is used. VERY GOOD PROFESSOR!!!
Great professor. Test are semi-difficult but you will learn a lot from her. I have taken her twice already for two different Chem classes.
She gives great lectures and her test are reasonable but she is a bit unorganized
The best chem teacher I have had, runs the chem tutoring center so you can always go to her for help, great plus!!
so willing to help her students. i've never had a prof. more eager to help her students after class. she is personable, and odd, but knowledgable of the topic. she does experiments for the class to help you visualize what she's talking about.
easy got a B and very realxed on grading, gives you many opportunities to do well in her class, take her I don't even like science but she did her best to make it interesting
I am getting an A or a B in this class..how awesome..without Ladon as a professor this might not have been possible. Lectures are excellent and exams are tricky but A's are very possible! Go Lina!!
Ladon makes Chemistry easy and understandable. Works harder than some students to make the class work. Clear directions and high expectations. Runs tutoring center in Chem and helps explain EVERYTHING chemistry related. #1 chemistry choice.
Very helpful! take her!
she gives you the option of taking the last test. got an A. she knows everything about science. and tests right from her notes. never touched the book.
Very knowledgable about her material and gives practical application. Practically lives in Chem tutoring center; loves to answer your questions. Would recommend her, but don't expect an easy ride. Stickler when it comes to accuracy.
Hard class, hard material, hard teacher. She is very specific on what she wants on an exam. Study a lot and I promise an A is possible!!
Very nice lady but hard tests. I was very surprised I got an A in that class!
if chem major take her if not stay away from her unless u want to work her for a good grade. does not give review sheets, lectures long n borning
I tried to get help from her for my freshman year of chemistry when she wase't teaching. She had a very bad attitude to me and felt I was stupid or something. I hope she gets fired.
Easy class...just show up and take notes...shes nice and offers many opportunities for tutoring.
If you take notes, you will do well. Really cares if ask questions. Textbook?? Yea right...I got a B without stuiding or text or without doing half the labs! If you think she is tough...HA HA! Try studying ****, it might work...
never ever take her. she totally discourages students and expects you to know everything. I dropped the class because she is so awful but she basically told me to drop the class anyway... tells you to go for extra help but its her whos giving the help- but she DOES NOT HELP
she's really cool, has a good sense of humor, and uses helpful analogies to explain stuff. she is always willing to help.
She is a good teacher, very helpful, really tries to get you to learna nd understand, wants you to ask questions, always available in tutoring center, only downfall is it takes her a while to get work back, but tests are normally back the next class, definetly worthwhile to take!
i absolutely loved prof. ladon, easy class, takes attendance but doesnt really pay attention to it, tests are easy if you study, lots of notes to take, i def. recommend taking this class to satisfy a gen ed
Liina is the best Chem teacher I have ever had. She def knows her stuff and if you pay attention in class and go to her in the tutoring center you will ace her class. She posts old exams on her website and if you can know how to do those you will ace her tests. Def reccomend her
She is the best! Old tests posted online, and they are virtually the same as the tests she gives in class. Writes her notes out on the board for you. Always willing to help. Easy grader on labs. I got an F on a test, and still managed a B+. Take her, you won't regret it!
could have been worse, good gen ed. gives u study sheets but tests usually have more then whats on sheets. tests still arent THAT hard, got a B+ when i kinda fell asleep in class and just wrote what she had on the board
maybe shes great with chem 100 and 110 but when I had her for ***105*** she was a nightmare. The whole class was pretty upset that she purposely wouldnt let us know what was gonna be on the test or how it would look. That made no sense. In the end, she curved. But that doesnt mean I learned much.
She is such a great teacher. All you need to know comes right from her lecture notes. You don't even need to read the book. The tests are easy as long as you study her notes. If you don't understand she is always willing to help. I was upset when I found she didn't teach organic. Loved her!
Highly recommend. Liina is an amazing teacher and is head of the tutoring center. If she is a tutor imagine what she can do in a classroom...exams come right out of lecture. Highly recommend taking Liina! I plan to take her for Chem 106, when she teaches it :-).
She preaches about going to her for help. Yet when you do go to her, she doesn't help you. And when she finally does, she does nothing but insult your intellegence. I wouldn't recomend taking her, she's too uptight.
In class, lectures were confusing and she bristled at questions almost to the point of refusing to answer (especially durring lab) and implying that students were stupid. Outside of class and in tutoring center she was like a different person - Helpful, friendly, patient and clear. I don't get it. Made for a stressful class.
Prolly the best and easiest teacher here. If u dont understand she'll stop and make sure u understand. lectures from the text so only read if u want to hit info home. Weekly quizzes on stuff u learn to keep u on track-they're easy. three tests mostly calculations u learn in class, based on problems from the book-do problems in the book. A MUST TAKE
She will help you with anything you need to know. Her tests are from the notes and you don't need the book. Very nice, gives easy quizzes to help boost your grade.
take dis class!! shes gives pop quizes about once a week but its easy. She wont move on if some students dont understand da subject. She really cares bout their grades n education. It gets borin sumtimes but hey, skool isnt always fun.
Awesome Professor....Take Her!!
I was surprised to find chemistry fun and very do-able, and I owe it all to LL. While I am very grateful for how well I now know the material we *did* cover, we were several chapters short of her semester plan, b/c the majority of students didn't study/memorize, so she slowed down the class for them--for weeks. That is my only complaint.
She is the best chem teacher in the whole world. Very good @ explaining things and will go over any questions u have @ beginning of class. You will have to study the material (more than just a quick glance) if u plan on getting an A. U can't fail this class unless u don't review. Always review past exam material if u want to pass cumulative final.
THE BEST CHEM TEACHER EVER!!! I love chemistry because of her. I reccomend her to everybody that needs help with chemistry. The key to chemistry is agood teacher and she is great at what she does. She Makes everything clear and simple. If u dont understand ask. The BEST CHEM TEACHER!!!
Prof. Ladon is extemely wonderful prof. but my only issue is there is lot of work to do in this...every week there is a quiz..lab reports with too much detials...overall very time consuming class for a gened...I would prefer taking something else than this class
Great professor, very helpful and understanding. Really makes sure you understand the concepts and is always willing to help. She is great at explaining chemistry in an easy way. You definitely have to study but once you see how her tests are, its not to bad. Def take her
i took her class over the summer and it was great. i ended up with an A- in it. her lectures are clear, her labs are awesome. she gives great help if you ask for it. i had to study 8 hours a day but that's because its chemistry and i took it in 5 weeks. you cant expect to take a hard class in a short time period and not work for it. take her!
with no previous background in Chemistry, and after hating Chem during the first few wks of class, she helped me like it more. When I started putting forth more effort to learn it, she helped me more and the better i understood it. I can actually say I like Chem because of her. She's willing to help whenever she can. You just have to want to be hel
Awesome Professor! She made Chemistry easy and interesting. She teaches you tricks and shortcuts involving the hardest parts of general chemistry which makes the class and chemistry in general so much easier. I HIGHLY recommend her for Chem 110 and 111.
Great teacher. Explains everything clearly. Very easy to get a good grade if you listen to lecture and take good notes. Take her!!
She LOVES chemistry. However, she doesn't do a very good job conveying this to her students sometimes. She expects you to know almost everything from CHEM 110, which is very unrealistic. She really wants you to understand, but when you ask her questions she mostly only confuses you more. But be sure to keep up, there are pop quizzes!
As a lab teacher she was pretty good. She would practically give you the answers, but if you don't remember anything from chem 110, then don't take chem 111 at all (duh!) it just takes some attention to her lectures to do well.
She doesnt enjoy teaching, and seems very annoyed by any question asked. When you go to the tutoring center and ask for help, she will rush through helping you. She spends more time lecturing the class on not understanding the material, then actually teaching the material.
The class was too slow-paced for me, so I ended up not paying attention as much as I should have. Prof. Ladon shows a lot of knowledge about Chemistry, but little interest in teaching it anymore. She needs a vacation.
Very Helpful.
Do not expect her to help you at all. She will fail you and say you need to "learn the fundamentals" before you can move on even if all your test grades pass you and you just skipped lectures here and there. As head of tutoring you'd think she'd be a good teacher but you have to teach yourself everything from the textbook and takes off crazy points from her 20-30 point questions. Don't count on passing unless you have her previous exams.
She is an amazing professor. If you have a hard time understanding concepts just go to her tutoring and ask for help. She is a sweet person. If you don't ask for help you might not do as great in the class considering chemistry is hard. Take her!
Doable class. She sticks to the textbook. Do the practice problems and you will be fine. Come prepared with questions and she will help you out. Does not always get into the theory, so if you really want to understand, look elsewhere. She'll teach you how to do the problems for the test and that's it. She loves chemistry and is very approachable.
I only used her notes for the whole semester like I never opened the book and still got A-. Pay attention in class and you can easily understand her. She is very fair and willing to help. Be responsible this is college dont expect easy A's and dont be influenced by negative reviews. Take HER !
I took this class over the summer, and it was very accelerated. We had to use smartwork and much of the material we learned in class did not match up with what was online. When students would go to her for help, she would lecture them on how high school never prepares you for college or the real world... she was not very helpful outside of class.
I don't recommend this class. Take chem 2 with a different prof seriously. Smart work 24/7 and the exams were difficult. Didn't care for her attitude but study your butt off if you get her
I loved this class. Professor Ladon made it easy. Her final exam was based off of past exam questions and example questions. She pretty much stuck to the book. Her tests are not hard as long as you pay attention in class and study a few days prior.
Ladon is a great professor, she is a little disorganizedscatter brained, but she knows what she's doing. She explains concepts in multiple ways and very clearly. Ask questions, attend class, study, and actually do the learnsmart assignments, and you will pass. If you need to talk to her do it in person, she reples late if at all to email.
Super helpful, she runs the chemistry tutoring center so she is always in there an willing to help- but you have to be willing to go for help. She is very straight forward- absolutely no surprises on tests but they are a little long if you do not know the material well. The best chem teacher that Towson has by far!
I had her for a refresher course and she literally confused me so much expecially when she would do examples because she would make it up and try to solve it and wouldn't explain how she did it. She gave pop quizzes almost ever week, her test would contain some material from the book she didn't go over. this class was't terrible, it was confusing
I really like Ladon's teaching style. I would highly recommend her to anyone who's not so good with chemistry. She writes out all the notes with you and gives examples, instead of sitting there copying a powerpoint. She gives pop quizzes for each chapter so be prepared! She also runs the tutoring center so you can also find her there for help!
Not a very good teaching style, her sample problems in class were a lot easier and more straight forward than her exams. Her exams require way too much work for it to only be 50 mins allowed for completion. She gives pops quizzes once a week, even if you have an exam. Her tutoring center is useless, it's basically a social hour . DO NOT TAKE HER!
Dr Ladon is one of the best chemistry teachers at Towson. Her exams are straight forward and an exact replica of the examples she does in class and on her website, so go over them. She does gives pop-up quizzes, nothing too dramatic just to encourage you to study. She drops 3 of your lowest quizzes.
I didn't enjoy her class at all. I found her teaching style very difficult to follow as she would go on tangents and get confused. She runs the tutoring center so if you do take her make sure to go if you don't understand anything she said! Her pop quizzes were annoying, if you got one of the problems wrong you basically got a bad score.
Great professor. She's always willing to help you after class or during her office hours. There was a good amount of HW and quizzes, the majority on Chem Connect. Annoying, but it's that way with all the chem classes. The only reason I didn't do well was because I couldn't catch up after I'd let myself fall behind. Will take her again if I can!
She's a good teacher, but shes not very helpful. she rushes through the material, her tests are mostly math based. She wants to help students but she does put a lot of emphasis on future classes (what we have to do and know), which is good and helpful, but it would be better to focus on this class. very frazzeled when she lectures.
I had her for 131&132. She can be a little scattered but she's really smart and very willing to help. She cares a lot and even runs the tutoring center. I didn't use the text at all in 131, but used it a lot in 132. An A is not impossible, you just have to practice equations over and over until they're easy. Chem is hard, learn how to study!
She know a lot about what she is talking out. However, she goes through the material quick so it can be hard to keep up at times. You need to do studying on your own after lectures to understand the material correctly. She also cares a lot about sigfigs. If you get the calculations right for a problem but get sigfigs wrong, the answer is wrong.
Ms. Ladon is a really good chemistry professor. She writes out notes for her lectures instead of reading off the powerpoint like a lot of professors. She is really passionate about chemistry and wants her students to succeed. She explains things well but expects A LOT of studying to be done outside of class. Her tests are hard, but not impossible.
Ladon is a good professor. Chem in itself is hard so be prepare to study. Don't be like me or other people in my class that dropped, STUDY. Also if you just don't understand anything she runs the tutoring center so you will always have help. Quizzes are easy, but the tests are difficult if you don't understand everything.
This class was extremely annoying. I give props to all CHEM and BIO majors. She grades very unfairly especially when you make a minor mistake which you carry through in problems. This is an Intro level course not some 400 Level. I suggest you study with others because material is inconsistent among others, Find the professors that curve or give EC!
Tests are 170 points. If you get like one question weong you essentially lose a letter grade cause they are worth 10-30 points. Sometimes she gives partial points but rip gpa. This is true for all chem exams not just ladon
Very nice professor. Writes out notes with you. Really cares about every student. 4 exams and 7 quizzes. Taking her again for chem 132!
dr. ladon is amazing. everything you see on the exams are fair game. she will not surprise you will anything you have not seen before. shes patient and will help you with any questions you have. she is clearly passionate about her teachings and is 99% of the time available in the tutoring center. i wish she taught upper chem classes or id take her!
I had at 89.7% and she gave me a B+ and never answered any of my emails. Super rude but fair. Does not curve or gives out extra credit
The material she covers in class is what she expects you to know for exams. Her grading criteria is very clear. She's a wonderful professor and I would take her for all chemistry classes is she taught them. You have to study for this class Chemistry is not an easy A class.
Ladon is the better chem 1 & 2 professor. Wonder why her classes fill up first? Her tests are usually predictable since they mirror the example probs she gives in class. Quizzes are usually one or two problems to test your knowledge and she really encourages that you ask questions. She likes when people ask questions since she knows ur paying attn.
You can easily tell that Dr. Ladon is passionate about what she is teaching and she teaches in a way that is easy to understand. She gives a lot of examples in class and the examples are usually almost exactly what will be on the exam. I would just do as many practice problems as possible and make sure to go over EVERYTHING before the final.
Prof. Ladon is the best General Chemistry instructor at Towson. She is very passionate about her subject. She encourages her students to ask questions and seek help if they need it. She runs the tutoring center. Her exams are difficult, but fair and come from lectured material. Lectures include a lot of examples. I definitely recommend her!
She would teach class as soon as you walk in up until time its over she talks and talks so much ending class late!! Every time. Her lectures make sense but shes demanding and she doesnt understand us shes rude when you keep asking questions. She doesnt let you talk its all about her.
Ladon was a good teacher but sometimes had attitudes. If you took chem in high school you should be good. She doesn't go too in depth but that could also be a problem if you want full explanations. She's the tutoring lead so you could catch her there outside of class. Tests aren't too bad. Range from 22-30 questions and all multiple choice.
Shes in charge of the tutoring center so shes really helpful outside of class. Her exams are straightforward and arent hard but theyre something you really have to study for like any other lecture class. You cover a lot of material in one class so try not to miss class. I only got a C because I was completely horrible on my first exam.
Hard Class but Ms. Ladon is probably the best teacher in the department. Shes very good at explaining the material even though the material is tough. She doesn't take attendance but its hard to catch up if you miss a lecture.
I do not recommend her is chemistry is not you're the best subject. She is very knowledgeable but not that good at teaching. She teaches the material like she's talking to an equal colleague instead of clueless students.
Prof. Ladon is cool & caters her lecture methods to the preference of students. The only grades that really matter are in-class quizzes & 4 exams (online homeworks are a very small percentage). She gets side-tracked A LOT during lecture. Lectures are quite disorganized. She's a solid enough professor, though. I'd take a class with her again.
Pretty tough professor for gen chem but walks through material as easiest as possible to understand to help you practice. Exams are tough but fair. PRACTICE as much as you can ahead of time to do well. She runs the tutoring center too, so see her there if youre struggling. Very helpful.
Professor Ladon has a lot of knowledge about what she teaches but she teaches the 121 class as if it is a 131 or higher level course. She is belittling when students ask questions and expects students to do numerous hours of studying, whether it be from the textbook or practice problems. She drops the lowest quiz and homework grade.
Ms. Ladon is very helpful, she also runs the tutoring center. For a hard class like chem131, she breaks the material down very well although she tends to go off track sometimes. The exams are very straightforward and direct, there wont be anything you didnt learn. The four exams basically make up your grade. B in the class.
Cant follow along during lectures at all. Stay home and read ur textbook
DO NOT take this class if you're in chem 121. The professor is not good at teaching that class. She is disorganized and does not go off the syllabus. The tests are ridiculously hard and you would get a much better grade taking Van Huizen. My lab partner is in VH's class and is much better prepared for everything.
Honestly this wasn't a bad professor at all. She does not follow the syllabus because she asks the students their opinions on when tests/homework should be due. She teaches quickly but is open for questions and use the chem extra help center!
She knows what she is talking about in chemistry, but honestly she is the type of teacher that assumes you get it really fast. She is super nice but a little unorganized. If you go to her after class she will definitely explain it to you which works better for me since I feel like throughout lectures she would rush.
She is a fair grader and tells you what you need to know for the exams. She can be a little rough around the edges but overall is a good professor and teaches the material in a manner where everyone can understand. As long as you study and practice for the exams, the class is not that bad.
Class is impossible and professor does not teach. Only class I did not get an A in this semester.
She is very unclear in lectures. She doesn't use blackboard at all and if you want to know your grade you have to go into her office with her to calculate it. Email her, she probably won't reply. As if she's against technology. The textbook will really be your lifesaver as well as the online study modules and Pearson homework. Drops lowest quiz.
For exams, be familiar with all problems covered in class, and know how to manipulate equations and logarithms to solve for any variable. To do well, practice problems are absolutely necessary -- the more, the better. The final was hard, so be careful about relying on final forgiveness. I found her intimidating, but she's a fast and fair grader.
Professor Ladon is very caring, but she can be a bit off. She is very disorganized and often misplaces a lot. I really enjoy how she handwrites all of her notes on a projector, but her handwriting could be better. Just study for her exams and do the homework and you should be straight
Not accessible outside of class. She rarely answers emails, missed many office hours without giving notice, and does not post most grades. The tests and quizzes were very error prone so make sure you check all of your assignments. However, she makes it extremly difficult to do so. The class was much easier before we transitioned to online though.
Professor Ladon was not a terrible professor but she was a little disorganized. She was not great at answering questions when asked and she was a little passive-aggressive. I suggest you study every chance you get and complete all the practices!
I took her during the fall while covid was happening and she was not helpful at all. She taught it like we had been it for 20 years like she had. I had to teach myself, not sympathetic about mistakes on her end. Argued with students.
Your grade is based on one exam, weekly quizzes, recitations, and homework. The professor flies through lecture slides, but lecture recordings are posted. She makes a lot of mistakes in class and can be rude to students. We had to fight for extra credit that was in the syllabus. If you have the option, you might want to choose someone else.
Taken during COVID, she's too unaccustomed to online learning. Assignments were graded harshly, we got 0 feedback, and we didn't finish all the syllabus assignments due to her negligence. Had very little sympathy for students, answered questions with annoyed sighs and insults. Learned mostly through Pearson study modules & the textbook.
Lectures were riddled with mistakes, annoyed sighs at any question, and a bad internet connection. Refused to acknowledge her poor internet connection even though her RECORDED lectures had plenty of evidence. Make sure you check your graded work because she's careless and makes mistakes on everything. Easy class if you read the text and practice
She yelled at students when asked any questions, and always had mistakes in her quizzes and practice problems she went over in class. She was not clear in lecture, would rarely respond to email. She only let us see some quizzes and because she always made mistakes it left us wondering if our grades were correct. only take if ready to teach yourself
Do not take this professor. She is rude and gets frustrated when you ask questions. Lectures are very disorganized.
She doesn't give feedback or let you see what you got wrong on quizzes. This is especially a problem because she has made mistakes grading. She gets annoyed when students ask questions. I basically taught myself using the online homework and book.
She is literally the worst. Do not take her. If you have no other choice and she is the only Chem 132 teacher left, just rethink your undergrad plan. Only take her if you can teach yourself. Unorganized and does not give feedback. I would have given her grace but she is genuinely a terrible professor.
She argues and disrespects anyone who dares say or ask anything, blames students for mistakes she makes and talks down to us as if were stupid. The class itself is easy and youre better off just showing up for quizzes and ignoring the lecture and teaching yourself from the book.
Everyone else is right, she's downright nasty. Whenever you ask a question, she will interrupt you, get irritated when you don't understand, and all around just make you feel like an idiot. Don't take her, but if she's your only choice (like me), just learn the info by yourself.
very rude, barely feedback, not good lectures, if you ask a question she makes you feel dumb. Better off learning by yourself.
Don't expect to get an email back from her, she doesn't respond. Moves too fast during lectures. Only gives you 20-25 min max on quizzes that require a whole lots of math, thinking and time. Doesn't explain well and makes a whole lot of mistakes on quizzes and recitations. Most likely will have to teach yourself the material outside of class.
Worst professor I've ever had. She refuses to update her schedule on Blackboard so you never know when you have a quiz. She doesn't have office hours and is impossible to contact. She's never once answered an email of mine. She rambles and scribbles diagrams during class instead of teaching from slides or a PowerPoint we could look back on. Awful.
she gives quizzes almost every week but after the first 3 weeks of class, she started to switch up what day she was giving her quizzes on. She also does not respond to emails which is super annoying. She doesn't put grades on blackboard, she only posts our course average once a month. We only get about 20 minutes for quizzes, sometimes less.
She really isn't as bad as the reviews make her seem. The weekly 20-minute quizzes are annoying but that is a chem department thing, not her fault. I found her worked out problems during class useful, although she could move slower. She tries her best to work with her students and if you study the right way, you'll pass.
Prof. is ok, better online. Recitations are graded, attendance mandatory on those days, sometimes the day changes. Quiz every Friday, honestly wish we had more time to grasp the material. The Chem department fought hard to still make the final in person even with a covid outbreak, but we finally got an online and optional final
Weekly quizzes of the material instead of tests. Lectures are hard to understand and follow but if you do understand the quizzes are very easy. Also does weekly recitations to review material where you can work with others and ask questions. Yells if asked questions and can be very rude. Not sure if Id ever want to take again, not good, not awful.
Avoid this prof if you can!! She hated us all equally. She's extremely discouraging, constantly put us down, called us cheaters that weren't trying hard enough. Does not return emails, Won't put grades on bb. Instead tells us to calculate it ourselves. gets upset when asking ?s during lecture. Doesn't want to see us succeed. DO NOT CHOOSE HER! FR!
Kind of goofy. Often goes off on unrelated tangents which is frustrating if you're there to actually learn the material and do well. Tries to prevent cheating so much that it has actually resulted in less time for us to take the exam. Not my favorite, but wasn't HORRIBLE either. Overall, she's just tolerable.
Decent professor, sometimes goes off on tangents but overall a good professor for a difficult subject; always willing to answer questions and provides help. Weekly quizzes are annoying, and will mostly determine your grade in the class. Do the homework in advance and you'll be fine
