her classes are boring; in addition, 1/10 of our class understand her. This is not a easy course. her lecture was like grade 1 math, and assignment was like grade 7, but her exam was like college 4th year. She needs to explain the martial more clearly.

I could read and teach myself better than her, because all she does is word for word read her slides. Do not have her as a teacher, makes the course 10x harder.

Lijun is the worst prof I have had at UVIC. She reads slides and is incapable of explaining them clearly. Her accent is so strong that I always had a hard time understanding her lectures and concepts. Avoid this teacher if you can, she makes the class a lot harder than it should be.

Worst class I've taken at UVic, partly due to Zhang's poor lectures and a major lack of respect form students. I sat in the very front row and I still couldn't understand Zhang because of her thick accent. Don't rely off her notes or lectures, if you only study the textbook you can still get a good grade. Tests were easy.

She's by far the WORST professor I've ever had. Lectures are painful to sit through as she not only makes the material boring but also can't pronounce anything correctly. Although Zhang is terrible at explaining concepts, she's great at teaching you how to use an iClicker. Her tests were full of spelling and grammatical errors. AVOID at all costs!

Garbage teacher. Expects you to know the material, shes asks i clicker questions on material that she teaches AFTER the i clicker. Most people get the i clickers wrong because of this. Heavy lack of connections between different concepts that are only realized after you get them wrong on assignments. Can't actually answer your questions properly.

Her power points are just the very basic points from the text that she hardly expands on. I had to read the entire textbook front to back 3 times to fully grasp the course. Her lectures were useless so I stopped going. She does have a good system for how she weighs your marks though, in case you don't want to go to class.

Heavy use and reliance on I clickers as an incentive to come to her lectures rather than as a tool for learning. Opens every class with an iclicker question. Also her question making assignment is a terrible excuse for not doing her job (especially considering it goes for 10% of your grade)

DR. Zhang's, Econ 104 class is absolutely brutal!!! The lectures are extremely dry and I felt that you needed to show up because of her iclickers (some questions were very strange and made little sense). I had to put a lot of time into study and teaching myself the material in order to do well in the course.

If you don't need this course for your major, please don't take it. TAKING THIS COURSE WAS THE THE WORST DECISION EVER. Her lectures are so useless and I pretty much relied on the textbook. Yo she makes me regret my decision taking ECON major. Why is she the only prof teaching ECON 104 in UVic? She's not bad in person but the way she teaches drives you nuts. Go to class to get them Iclicker mark, study her slides because the practice midterm will not help, tough grader, her slides haven't changed in years.

The worst professor I have experienced in UVIC, not one of. I got A from almost all other econ courses but I only got B- in all of her classes I have attended (100, 104, 306). Her final exam is extremely difficult and the topics are not covered in lectures and slides. She is very haughty to students and very unhelpful. No good points to her.

She has really weird tests. Lots of iclicker questions. She leaves tricks in there and makes it harder than it should be. HARD to get it right.

At times there were 8 iclicker questions a class, some of them absurdly difficult or ambiguous. She seemed to enjoy watching half the class answer incorrectly. Bad at answering questions. My friend, sitting right in front of her, had his hand up for 10 minutes and she didn't get to him.

She also gives difficult iclicker questions and tells us its difficult and proceeds to stand there and give a very annoying smirk assuming we are unable to do it. Thinks everyone in her class has 20 years of experience studying economics. She skips many steps going through questions, often makes mistakes and overall is very unhelpful. Her iclicker questions are very hard, and with 1 minute to solve a question, she expects you to get it. Not done the course but if you can DO NOT take this course with her!!!!

I wish she was better but she is not a great prof. She makes a lot of mistakes on exams, the board and the practice questions and isn't very good at explaining things. One of her biggest issues is that when she is walking the class through a 5 part problem, she will do parts a and b then skip to part e leaving you to fill in the blank. Avoid.

The class average was 62%... This is a first-year level macro-econ course and it's totally unacceptable that our class average was so low. Perhaps every single student out of 120 of us was incompetent, but it sure does say a lot about a professor. I thought I did bad with 68% but I guess I was quite above the class average. Sorry, but no. Does not supply answers to all problem set questions, midterm, or slides. Which makes it hard to study from your mistakes. Gives material that is "not going to prepare you well". Never tried her office hours. Slides don't make sense. Used multiple textbooks (optional, but mandatory reading). Good luck

The worst prof/teacher I have ever had. Her tests are worded poorly and literally uses words that are not in the English dictionary (I am not kidding). I didn’t usually think this but I honestly believe she doesn’t want her students to succeed. Her participation is the hardest level questions that she won’t teach until after you are graded

Midterm coverage is practically nonexistent and you basically have to email the Economics reception to see where you are losing the most points. I don’t know anyone who has enjoyed this class.

She says the same thing in like 10 diff ways, but none of them make sense. It's like her saying, "ok class 5+1 is 1+5". Like she literally does not elaborate on any of the topics either. For the midterms, you have to make your own notes off the slides and teach yourself the course.

If I could rate her in three words I would use boring, unclear, and unqualified. She ruined Econ for me. DO NOT TAKE HER.

Lijun is a fairly good presenter, but she doesn't present all the necessary content. The rest of what is necessary for the course is filled in using the textbooks, which carried me through the course. You will succeed better if you take Econ 103 prior to 104; infinitely better.

Asked her a simple question about the exam. She replied with "good question. Yes and no" and did not elaborate further. Stylish outfits, but confusing class :/

Lijung, I wish i never took this course... with you... I respect you as a person, but not a professor. You need to take an english class for the astronomical grammatical errors i dig up from the cr*p plastered tests and exams. Part of the reason i may be getting a bad grade is that i never attend class but godd*mn i wish i never took this.

Terrible at explaining concepts. Do not take if you haven't taken 103, it was a hard class even with a base understanding. She does not want to help or clarify. The textbook and youtube taught me the material. She grades lecture iclicker so go to class. Made my favourite subject a slog.

I highly recommend you do not take this course if you are not required to. The material presented in class is extremely difficult to follow and the in-class + midterm questions are misleading and can be interpreted several ways. If you end up taking this course, it is detrimental that you read the textbook to understand the material.

I honestly don't like her reaching style. She's always too wordy and confusing. She also deletes class material and recorded lectures after a few days so it's really hard to revise or catch up. It's just a NO for me

Taking her class gave me the feeling that my IQ was being played with. About half were below 50 percent on her midterms. If there are other professors in the same class, please choose another professor. Otherwise you could spend an entire semester in tuition and a lot of effort in exchange for a failed course or a 1.0 GPA.

Used iclicker and pop quizzed us everytime we learned something new even if it was 5 seconds ago, lecture heavy and bad at lecturing, confusing with weird examples and random tangents.

Her lectures are extremely content heavy, goes off on tangents, has thus far failed to focus on the content she tests on the most, provides horrible and inaccurate study guides and overall is a bad professor.

She uses this app called iClicker for attendance and it is the only reason people go to her lectures. I've never seen a class with so many people talking during the lecture simply because they don't care what she has to say.

Her lecture slides do not help when studying for her midterms or exams. She does not give helpful information when you get mistakes wrong on quizzes or tests either. If you decide to take an econ course at Uvic, i would recommend taking econ 103 with Emma instead. She is a much better prof than Lijun and her lecture slides actually make sense.

Avoid this class at all costs. Prof Zhang can't articulate english very well and going to a lecture is like watching paint dry.

the lectures are poorly organized and mandatory with iclicker questions. lijun has no idea what is going on during labs and refuses to answer questions about them. her lectures are somewhat difficult to understand because english is her second language. the way the course work is weighted is absolutely ridiculous.

her whole course structure is wacky. shockingly she goes on and on about certain topics without teaching ANYTHING. her labs were a disaster too. good luck participating in a lab if you dont have a windows laptop. get ready to learn the whole course by yourself on khan academy.

Her notes and slides are almost fully useless, I say almost because she posts a single worksheet per topic that helps you with one question throughout multiple Problem Sets. Quiz MCs are written confusing and lack information, exams are supposed to not be cumulative but are, iClicker covers topics not covered yet and are for marks. Avoid her.

Unwilling to provide materials for you lecture recording is only available for 48 hours after the lecture If you forgot something, congratulations you are not going to find most of the content from D2L

The lecture is difficult to understand and the Assignment is heavy. Choosing her course will make you feel extra tired than all the other courses, and the way to get the final score is also strange. If you like simple ways of combination of homework and exam, please do not choose her

The midterm I took today in Zhang's class looked like it was written by a 4th grader. Every other question, scenario or answer contained some form of grammatical error. These gaps in the information weren't the type that were easy to infer, either. Her lectures are impossible to follow. Can get a better understanding of the topics on YouTube.

This has been by far the worst course i have gone through at uvic. the exams are very unfair and difficult to do well in even if you attend class and do your homework. the TA are useless and this prof cannot speak english and it is very difficult to retain anything she says.

Tests are full of trick questions. Her lectures are hard to sit through and are mandatory, she is hard to understand and she doesn't have any interest in teaching (her office hours were once a week- for 30 minutes and online). Way too much time is spent learning the material outside of class. Textbook is useful study tool for her tests.
