She is amazing!!! she really makes you interested in global health and want to help with things outside of the US. Excellent teacher, i definitely recommend her.
really nice prof. really easy class. deff recommend and would def take another class with her
really good teacher... class is extremely easy.. def recom. her ... can't wait to take GCH 412 with her...
she is really nice and always try to make everything easy for students.
GREAT TEACHER!! uses powerpoints for notes. Exams are easy. Gives easy in class extra credit! Def. recommend her!! :)
She is an amazing teacher! I loved going to class to learn. She is so nice and helpful. Take this class, you won't regret it. She gives easy extra credit and the quizzes and tests are easy if you pay attention in class and take notes. It is by far my favorite class I have taken.
One of my favorite teachers at Mason. If someone doesn't understand a concept, she will go through it over and over until everyone gets it. Tests are pretty easy if you go to class and pay attention. I definitely recommend taking a class with her.
LOVE HER!!! Such a good teacher. Def take this class!!
man, what a cool teacher. She's real passionate about global health which makes her easy to listen to. She's real understanding and very easy to apporach. Patient and tries to help you understand the material. Read the chapters, take some notes, and it should be easy A. Quizzes and tests aren't too bad if you read the material. Awesome professor!!
man, what a teacher! great professor, so nice and understanding. Really patient and will help the class understand the material. Extremely passionate about global health which makes you really become interested in the subject. Goto class, read the stuff, and and pay attention. Class should be an easy A if you do the work. Fantastic professor!!!
I loved this class so much!!! Fleming is awesome, she got me so interested in the health of other countries. After taking this class I guarantee you will want to go over seas and help third world countries! easy A. Read the book, its great. i almost changed my major to international health after taking this class! Wish I could take the class again!
best teacher ever. she makes everything so easy to understand. there's definitly a lot of information to take in but she makes it easy.
Prof Fleming is competent and well spoken; kind and respectful; clear, approachable, interesting, and fair. An all around wonderul professor. Presents material (which is plentiful) in a manner that is easy to focus on and easy to follow. I'd suggest all student take this course from her. Wonderful. Thank Prof Fleming!
This class is an easy A, and the professor is an amazing teacher. She is very compassionate about the subject, and her quizzes/tests are very easy if you study just a bit. I got a B in the class, but I literally skipped like 70% of the class, never studied, missed all the extra credit, etc. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH NO ONE ELSE! ONLY TAKE WITH HER!!!!!!
what can I say...one of the best professors I've ever had..she's so enthusiastic about her subject that it makes it impossible not to pay attention in her class...shes so respectful and genuinely wants the class to do well. Just an incredible professor and a kind hearted person. 10/10
Super passionate about the material and makes learning very interesting. Through lecture slides that are mandatory for taking the tests. Chapter quizzes are based straight from the readings. All in all the professor is awesome but make sure you go through your material thoroughly for tests.
Prof. Fleming is very clear in her lectures. She covers 13 chapters. Each chapter is about 15 pages, so it's not gonna take much of your time because it's a small book. You really don't have to read the book as long as you take notes in her class. She explains everything you need to know for the test. Pay attention and you'll do well.
Excellent professor. Definately loves what she does and is very passionate about global health issues. Class is easy if you do the short readings before class. Easy to get an A with minimal effort. You will actually learn something and gain some perspective on the world. Definately would recommend this professor to anyone.
nice and beautiful
Best teacher I've had so far! She makes the class a lot of fun and it's really easy! Take her if you're taking GCH 205!!
Best professor ever! I wish i could have her for every GCH class! I had two classes with her already, explains everything pretty clear. gives reviews and loves what she does, making the class more entertaining. If you attend class, listen to her and do the homework (easy). you'll get an A for sure.
I took her class online and I have no complaints. There is a class discussion, an exercise, and a chapter quiz each week, along with 2 short papers and 3 exams. None of it was too challenging and some of the material can be interesting.
Easy A! You have discussions, quizzes, and random short assignments. Have to read the textbook thoroughly for the quizzes. Overall easy and some interesting topics
Class is very straightforward. Grading is clear and assignments are not too hard. Regular discussion boards, quizzes, and tests, which are reflective of material. Need to study a little bit, but overall workload isn't bad at all. Very responsive to email. Posts grades and assignments in a timely manner. Allows to "work ahead" a little. A+ prof!
A great, well organized professor. Highly recommend! There are many short assignments and discussions. As long as you put effort in completing your work and submit them on time, it's an easy A.
Took GCH 205 online to fulfill global requirement and recommended. Assignments and discussions every week but they are always easy. Total of 4 exams which are kind of difficult without studying but manageable. Professor Lila is helpful and will respond whenever you ask questions through email or blackboard.
Would give feedback on assignments to be nit-picky just so students wouldn't get full credit. Make sure you use high quality sources (mostly scientific journals). There were lots of assignments, but none of them were particularly "difficult". I learned a lot, but most of it is 'you take what you put into it'
The amount of work is okay - either discussion board on an assignment, some additional videos/readings, a quiz/exam due weekly. Dr. Fleming's easy grader too, as long as you put effort into what you wrote (really just paragraphs), she will give you full credits. But some questions on tests can be tricky and hard such as asking for number/statistics
She's great! As long as you follow her guideline you would get an A. Textbook is a MUST! Four tests, 9 quizzes. Without textbook, u wouldn't be able to do quizzes and tests. She gave us extra credit in the end. Two things are due every week (assignment or discussion and quiz). Drop only 1 quiz and 1 assignment.
I took this class online. She is extremely clear in her grading criteria, due dates, and expectations. She responds quickly by email. If you do the work on time, the class is an easy A. I for sure reccomend her!! Awesome Professor!
I took GCH 205 and everything was super clear. If you do the homework assignments and read the textbook, you'll be fine. The exams are mostly based on the book, so GET THE BOOK. She's incredibly fair if you put in the effort, and I would recommend her for this course.
Prof Fleming is great. Her course is very organized and well put together. I took her online, and basically all it consisted of was textbook reading, discussion boards, watching videos, assignments, and quizzes/tests. None of them were very difficult. I feel like I would have learned more with an in-person class, but i still learned a lot anyways.
Dr. Fleming is one of my favorite professors in the GCH department. She is funny, attentive, and really cares about the success of her students. Just do what you're supposed to (read, do assignments, and study) and you will pass her class no problem.
Long, heavy, and boring lecture. Too strict on grading (especially grammar). Not recommending her for someone who is not comfortable with public speaking or an expert in writting
Super easy BORING lectures but requires you write a book for homework assignments.
Real cool professor. Clear syllabus and the HW prepared us for the exams. She is also very lenient, which is a blessing when you're taking 5-6 classes. Just do your work, study, and you'll be awarded. Great professor!!!!!
Dr. Fleming's course was extremely well organized, and all of the material was easily accessible. It will be a lot of reading, but I found it all to be interesting. The questions on her quizzes and exams are mostly textbook based, so if you read the book and pay attention, you'll be fine. She's easily accessible electronically, which was great.
Dr. Fleming is a positive, enthusiastic professor. You get the grade you earn in her class. She does not allow you to have her slides, so go to class and ensure you take notes.
She's great! Her class isn't technically mandatory but she has it set up in a way that if you don't come to class you'll miss important information. She's pretty caring and understanding so just show up and put in work and you'll pass. You really only need the book for the midterm and final because the exams are harder without them.
I took Professor Fleming for both GCH 335 and GCH 380, she is possibly one of the best professors I have ever had at Mason and I am a senior. She is incredibly knowledgable on the material and really wants the students to grasp the information. She gives extra credit opportunities and the exams were online. Take her if you have the chance!!!
I had Prof. Fleming for both 335 and 380. One of the best professors I've had at Mason! Her courses are extremely well organized and she teaches the material very clearly. She is very accessible and willing to help students outside of the classroom. Definitely take her if you have the chance!
Professor Fleming is awesome! Anything having to do with statistics may seem intimidating, but Prof Fleming does a great job at making statistics easy to understand. There's an application assignment and quiz online every week, so make sure to read your textbooks. Attendance is not mandatory, but recommended as they're useful for tests later on.
took this course in the summer for about 4 weeks. Wasn't bad at all. Assignments were clear and responded back to emails in a timely manner. i thought this course would be very difficult considering hating stats but i passed with a B. Definitely take her
This class was easy if you show up for class, or else you will have to teach the material to yourself. Attendance isn't mandatory, but sometimes she gives assignments that are extra credit or graded class assignments. She also determines whether you deserve a bump when your on the borderline 89 by your attendance.
She was okay. The test were extremely hard. you have to go to class though. she does not post the lecture online and if you miss class you need a good excuse.
I took her for 335 and 380. I enjoyed her much more for 335 than I did 380. Exams for both classes were quite challenging and had far too many questions for the amount of time given on exams. I was not a fan of the group work that she required in 380, and neither was most of the class. I would not take her again for 380. Also somewhat strict.
Very good professor. The class is easy and straightforward. All the assignment have step by step instructions in the textbook, so you need to not try at all to get it wrong. Tests are based on the assignments done in class. Gives good feedback and very accessible if you need more explanation.
Ok teacher . In beginning of the first class she says if you finish class on the borderline of like an 89 she will help you if you show up to majority of classes. I had an 89, showed up to every class and she didnt help me. She teaches really fast and doesnt really like to help you when your confused because she wants you to not doubt yourself
Professor Fleming is great! She genuinely wants to help her students learn and do their best in class. Gives lots of extra credit and is super nice. She takes attendance and doesn't post her lectures online so it is worth it to go. Take her for any class she teaches!!!!
She is super nice and a very good good lecturer. Shell have a PowerPoint you can also take notes on what shes saying which helps but its mostly based on the textbook. Read the textbook and youll be fine. I find Community Health interesting so the book wasnt bad at all. But shes great at explaining things and wants you to ask questions.
She's a nice person but extremely strict on small things especially GRAMMAR. If you are international student and not okay with grammar. Don't take her. She gives you extra credit. If you study really hard, you can get a good grade. If you don't wanna do too much work. Don't take her.
Dr. Fleming was the nicest professor I've had at Mason. I had her on Tuesdays and Thursdays, where TUES was all lecture and then THURS was the assignment for based on the week's lecture, and she always went around the class to help. She did a great job in the transition to online b/c of COVID19, so I can tell you she was great in-person & online.
She made class manageable even though it was only 1 month. I've never taken stats so I was a bit worried but her class is amazing! She gives great feedback and as long as you read the assigned reading and watch her lectures, you'll be fine on the assignments. She always ready to help you when you email her ahead of time. Definitely recommend her!
I was kind of nervous taking a stats class because I didn't know if I could pass in the span of a month all while it was online, but it was really easy! Professor Fleming presented the material in a way that was easy to understand. The expectations for assignments were clear and if you started them early, she would give you helpful feedback.
Good professor. Gives extra credit if you show up to class. Only complaint is that she gave an assignment during class and didn't post anything about it even though she said she wouldn't.
Dr. Fleming was a phenomenal professor. I was surprised that I easily understood STATS! The clear lectures and organized PowerPoints were my favorite and most helpful. She is very knowledgeable and provides real-life examples. She takes attendance but I highly recommend going anyway. I missed one class and it threw me off for a few weeks.
Dr. Fleming is amazing teacher! You will learn so much in this class. She makes you work for the good grade but she also is willing to help during her office hours! Her quizzes are hard, but if you read the material and get prepared well you will do great on them! Overall, I THINK DR. FLEMING IS A GREAT TEACHER!
Makes you work for your grade, but wants you to know all of the material. She's a great professor. Take her while you can! She also is very accessible outside of class if you need it.
Her online class keeps you busy during the week, but it's very manageable. Video lectures, quizzes, assignments, and blackboard discussions. She offers great feedback and offers extra credit at the end of the semester in case you missed any of the assignments. There is a lot to do for each module (especially the readings) but it is very easy!
The first 3 or so weeks were a little difficult because we use SPSS which takes a while to understand. The textbook tells you word for word what to do on your homework assignments. She also has extra credit which helps immensely! She also takes off the lowest homework and quiz grade. Shes great to talk to outside of class too. I recommend her.
When you email her questions about the material she just sends back a sarcastic answer like "figure it out" with a weird smile emoji. The entire class is debating on reporting her to dean of students. Cares more about grades than students' mental health and it shows.
Lots of reading and guidelines. Harsh grader, does not seem to care if you understand the material as long as guidelines and deadlines are met.
Horrible! She is extremely harsh on grading for no reason. She has been very rude to students. Does not even care if they have a medical emergency. She has no sympathy. She makes you buy 2 expensive textbooks and pay for a program to download where you will do all of your homework on. Will take lots of points off for little things.
Does not provide any leeway on work. Will sometimes blatantly ignore student emails and is not out to help you. If you can, take literally anyone else for this class.
If you can please DO NOT TAKE HER. She expects you to be a pro at the material you are learning which is so ridiculous. Her grading is SOO harsh for no reason especially with classes online she thinks that she is the only class I have or something. Save yourself the headache and do not take her.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Rude. Cruel. Mean. Inconsiderate. Sarcastic.
I have taken Dr. Fleming for both classes GCH 380 and GCH 335 and I really liked her style of teaching. She is a tough grader but she also is willing to help you when you do not understand the material. She has weekly quizzes and assignments. 2 tests and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
She is a great teacher but you definitely need to put in the work. Content really seems like a lot but she is willing to help you. Class format worked really well and assignments were easy as long as you follow feedback from other assignments. Don't take her thinking you won't have to do much because she is a strict grader (just follow directions)
Dr. Fleming is the best. You have to work for your grade. People complain about her classes because it is work heavy and they just want an easy A. Follow her directions, and you will receive a good grade. She responds to any questions through email and you can arrange zoom calls if you need help. Her extra credit is extremely helpful!
Class was not fairly easy, but busy work. Weekly quizzes, which are almost entirely based out of the textbook. Because of that, very highly recommend to use a online version of the textbook (which you find online for free) to help search for terms asked for quizzes. Couple assignments, extra credit, and small project.
She's nice, accessible, and gives good feedback but she required two pricey textbooks. She also makes you download a software to complete assignments. I just thought it was too much so I wouldn't want to take her class again.
To be honest Professor Fleming is kind of annoying. She doesn't really help you if you have a question about the class and makes most of the assignments timed om blackboard. For the mid-term and final she only gave us 65 minutes to answer 80 questions that's less than a minute per question.
I had Dr. Fleming for 335 and 380. Many students don't like her because she makes you work hard for the grade, but if you do the assignments ahead of the deadline, she can answer any questions you have and even provide feedback. Also, helps you learn by providing real-world examples. She's a great professor and inspired me to be an epidemiologist.
I've had Dr. Fleming for GCH 335 and GCH 380 and she was great. She answers emails within a day or two and you can tell she tries to help. 335 isn't easy, but if you follow her instructions and watch all of her videos, it isn't too bad. Plus she offers a lot of easy extra credit and drops a few of your lowest grades. I highly recommend her!
Grade consists of homework, timed weekly quizzes, and two timed exams. She's a harsh grader but gives good feedback on where she deducted points. There are 5 opportunities for extra credit which is basically a discussion board. You have to purchase the textbooks to do the homework assignments, and she does not accept late work for any reason
Modules each week with an assignment using SPSS and a quiz. A few extra credit opportunities along the way. Exams are based off understanding the material so be able to look at data and chose the right test to do and how to write the right conclusions. Dr. Fleming is always ready to clarify questions and it's really hard to get a low grade here.
TAKE HER! U must follow directions and get the SPSS book that gives you the steps to do your work! I love her each week, you have a module and quiz due and she gives extra credit! Only 2 exams which are MC and three short answers. She gives you 4 additional credits. DO THEM even if u don't need them. They will help you eventually and they are easy
She is a tough grader but gives good and helpful feedback. However, her tests were NOT easy especially the final. She did not provide a study guide or anything to help you know what to focus on when studying. You also need to get both textbooks in order to do the weekly assignments.
She is an extremely tough grader and lacks empathy, making her approach feel harsh and unyielding. Her demeanor comes across as cruel and emotionless, which significantly impacts the learning environment. Overall, I wouldn't recommend taking her class.
Overly punitive and ignorant of the subject matter. She has a Phd in environmental science - why is she teaching a course completely outside of her area of expertise? I would not recommend this course if you are interested in global health and are looking for a positive learning experience. She seems to think all students are trying to cheat or lie
My experience with Dr. Fleming's asynchronous course was fantastic—easily the most organized and well-constructed class I've ever taken. She clearly puts tremendous effort into creating a comfortable and enriching experience for her students. Dr. Fleming provides a truly meaningful education.
She wasn't the best but wasn't the worst. The course is generally common knowledge and I didn't really learn that much. She was nice in general but got a little tough at the end. If you need to take GCH 205 take her for an A (hybrid course). HW is just a bunch of heavy discussions but the exams/final are not lockdown or camera so its not bad.
Dr. Fleming is one of the best professors at GMU. She's approachable, supportive, and always willing to help. She genuinely cares about her students' success and is always happy to discuss the material and give guidance. She provides great feedback on assignments. You'll learn a lot in her class. Highly recommend taking her courses!
