Knows her stuff, but has a hard time teaching it.
nice professor, a little critical on students' opinions though.
fun class. amazing professor. what more can i say.
has heavy accent, but overall she's a good grader, very easy.. you should really Participate in her class and you'll do just fine, easy exam open book.. easy A.
very bright, chooses good material to cover, no nonsense, just teaches.
Very heavy accent, hard to concentrate, knows her stuff, but is not the best teacher. Open book exams, but tricky, loves people who participate overall an OK professor.
One of the greatest teachers at Baruch. She is so passionate about teaching and the topic. Amazing personality and so caring about students.
before the class: you look forward to it, during the class: you enjoy yuorself, after the class: you're more knowledgable and a better thinker
THE NICEST PROFESSOR IN THE WORLD!! So sweet, helpful, understanding, her tests are not hard, if u just listen in class. She is the greatest i have only but positive things to say about her!!
The sweetest professor in the world!!!! Keeps class fun and you learn a lot! I love her, if you take her you will not regret!
ya i sink ya. take her ya. good ya
well so far it has been the midterm only, i didn't get anything she talked about b/c it was alllll eco thought i would fail the open book midterm, instead i got A+ so take her and u get ec too 10pts i'll post again when i take the final but particip. is 15%, no attendence needed
I did better than I thought I would. 3 open book exam and no paper. There is one or two assignments but they are easy. Plus, she's the sweetest lady and very understanding and helpful.
she is a nice lady, and the exams are very easy open book, but her speech pattern the ya ya ya is EXTREMELY annoying. Take her as your last or first class, because you going to miss it a lot. Attendance not require which is great.
very nice lady....class is not easy though...reminded me a lot about micro/macro econ...intereting concpets a LOTTTT of reading........but she is nice....not an easy A...get ready to read a lot and study
Friendly professor. Passionate about her work too. Lots of material, which is fairly interesting but isn't easy, however she does give open book midterm and final. There's extra credit too. Recommended!
She's very nice and friendly, she makes herself available whenever you need her help. The material is interesting but isn't delivered in an interesting manner, but she tries her best to make it fun unfortunately she fails most of the time. Take her if you're aiming for a high grade.
Yes she's easy, yet she screwed me in the end. I got an A on the Foreign Exchange Comp., B+ on the midterm, A on the final, and a B+ in an extra credit presentation yet she gave me a C+ in the class because 15% was class participation, and I just happened to be absent the FOUR times she took attendance AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER.
very easy, nice prof. u dont even need to buy a book, everything she gives for the exam is in her slides! take her to get a good grade!
She's crazy. Avoid her at all costs. In addition to her shutting you up whenever you slightly go off topic constantly yelling for you to speak up, she treats everyone like children and whines for us to read the book. She actually left a class because people didn't read the book. I'll read the book before the test, shut up!
its sad how she doesnt encourage her student's thoughts and disregards them when they don't match with her slides. i was looking forrward t this class initially but after i took i relaized what a disappointment it is.
Boring class, horrible prof. The content is dull, and she doesn't help making it interesting. Disrespects students even when they try to answer her questions. Take someone else if you don't want to bore yourself to death.
She's horrible, avoid her at all costs.
The material is really boring but she makes it worst. If you can avoid taking her, you should.
Very easy class!!! extremely easy class this class is for poeple that need to get an A!!! 3 exam multiple choice 25 questions!!! the professor goes through all the questions before the class and you actually learn!!!!
The best professor I had in Baruch. Don't miss her class. Very knowledgable, have a talent for making boring material interesting, uses many current examples. I wish she would have taught another course. Made me interested in international business. Very caring for her students
Professor Nachum is great. By far one of the best professors in Baruch. I wish there were more professors like her. I really enjoyed her class
very interesting class. professor makes the class fun. course well organized. class notes excellent. tests are fair. take it!
She is OK, gives 3 projects no tests...if you follow her way you will do just fine talk in class if you want a straight A...
Very intelligent, no nonsense, dry humor. Don't fall asleep and adhere to classroom's ethics. Participation is important. Very passionate in ensuring you learn from her. Great professor.
by far my favorite professor this semester. she is a great professor. i love the way she teaches the class. don't miss her class
What a pleasure this class was. 2 group projects and 1 take home exam. I learned a lot even though the assignment instructions weren't exactly crystal clear, she's not easy to read but very interested in making sure you learn something. Highly recommended.
She?s interesting, intelligent, with a great sense of humor and very respectful towards her students. There are three non-cumulative exams, no homework or project. Her questions are more analytical than just strait-forward from the book. If you understand business than you can skip reading a textbook which, unlike her, is a complete bore.
You can either go to class and study your notes, or read the book and skip class. The tests are so easy. If you read the question, the answer is either the longest answer or the most logical sounding statement. Seriously, I got 100s on two on the tests. She is nuts, but it makes the class fun. Take this professor.
She's good. She will drill that stuff into your head. You have to do the readings, but she posts them on blackbrd. No book. She can get annoying sometimes, but all in all she is very good. Take her.
She is very nice, helpful and committed to students' learning. That said, she is fairly opinionated and is a tough grader. Lectures can get tedious with repetitive powerpoint format, and class participation is very important. Good class overall.
Attendance is not compulsory, and neither is learning. Subject is easy, but class is sort of pointless. Text isnt very necessary, just take a moment to photocopy assigned cases from the library reserve. the older edition serves well too, just need the updated cases. non cumulative final
The best professor in Baruch. don't miss her class
easy class 2 tests all 33 mc. not take attendence until the end of 5 classes. u can borrow book and just copy the case study. tests are mostly rely on ppt. if u read it carefully dont need a textbook. if u buy a test book u should focus only on bold text
Good teacher in general. Small classes so participation is needed. Be active in classe and you will get a good grade. She is also very friendly towards foreign studends e.g. exchange studens.
Has an accent but passionate. 2 Cases and a final paper. Although she tries to get us to think more outside the box, she is actually pretty narrow-minded. She will disagree with you even if your opinion is sound if it doesn't match hers. Can be frustrating. Very little time to do papers. Overall an okay professor.
She is a very enthusiastic professor who loves to teach the material. She knows the material very well so be prepared to know what you are writing about in projects& talking about in class and prepare for every class as it is worth 50% of your grade. The class is very interesting and Highly recommended! 50% class participation, 50% 2 group projects.
Very easy class. No textbook necessary. Goes over cases in class. Just read the slides and have some basic understanding of economics and how world trade works and you will be fine. Easy A
she makes the class very interesting. lots of discussions and no group projects!!! a midtrem and a final. she takes class participation into aacount, too. everything fro the slides but u have to print them out right before the class, she posts them late
Class is dull and boring. 2 exams which are really hard. Her voice is so irritating. If you don't participate you will get bad grade. Avoid if you can.
Her class is clear, and her tests are very related to what she teaches in the class. Therefore, listening and participation is the key to do well in her test. She's good and helpful. Take her and enjoy the class.
Should have dropped this class when I had the chance. Was bored out of my mind the whole semester. Participation is 15% of your grade but only 5 people ever raise their hands to talk in class. In other words most people got crappy grades for that. Her tests aren't easy either. She gave practice tests but they are a joke compare to actual exams.
She's a passionate teacher but a very tough grader. Participation is a whopping 30%. And she literally will give you a C- on participation if she doesn't know your name by end of semester. Ouch. 2 group projects and a tough essay final.
Class is dull/boring for the most part.Participation is key/important in getting a good grade.Only Midterm/Final and they are easy. Got an 88 on Mid, 94 on Final, Ended up with a B+ because I didn't participate. Textbook is not necessary. Just take notes and read slides. Most of the answers are either the longest answers or the one that make sense
She is hard. Very hard. If you not smart enough to get everything right, don't take her.
great course. focus on participation. very helpful professor. give sample exams. easy to do well.
i hope she teaches other courses so i can take her again.
very good class. passionate professor. only two exams - very fair. easy to do well. one of my best classes in baruch.
great class. best in my baruch experience. great prof. take it
very good class
My biggest complaint is that she did not provide a productive environment for learning. While knowledgeable in her field, she did not use her expertise to provoke thinking. Any comment that is contrary to her teaching is publicly put down. This kind of practice created an environment where students simply parrot the textbook/her. What a shame.
The learning environment is nearly detrimental to learning. The expectation is that you come to class and repeat everything she says; and things she says are at times wrong. Tests are not reviewed, grading is not explained, but errors do exist. Got a B for participation because I corrected one of her statements. Not a difficult class however.
I am totally not adapted to her teaching method. She didn't explain things well and expected you know everything already. Speak in the class is counted toward your final grade, so some people were forced to speaking without making a point. Exams are not much related to what she said in the class or the book. Some problems were not explained at all.
great professor and great class. she is very bright and very knowledgeable. learned a lot in this course. only two multiple choice exams. the exams are fair. if you attend classes you will do well.
Lectures for hours, endless powerpoint presentations, very abbrassive discussion and feedback style. attendance mandatory, large % of grade is participation but she grades it subjectively according to your attendance, not necessarily contributions. 2 group assignments + easy final. wouldnt take again.
One of the smartest professors at Baruch. If you want to learn take her. Participation is highly required. Two strategy projects and a final exam. Nice lady!
Knowledgeable, passionate professor, kept class interesting. Tries to engage students. 2 multiple choice tests with 50 Questions each. Easy to do well if you pay attention in class.
great professor. incredible learning experience. great insight into ibs. two multiple choice exams. take it!
the best learning experience i had at baruch. fantastic guest speaker from brazil. professor respecful for students viewpoints. updated material, refreshing compared to other courses where material is outdated
terrific class. wish all baruch professors were like her.
great professor. very knowledgeable. enjoyed every class. she made me love ib.i look forward to taking more classes with professor nachum
I loved this class. professor nachum is extremely knowledgeable about the subject. she showed much respect for students contributions. I am glad I took this class. I think it should be a required class for all MBAs.
very helpful prof. her enthusiasm for the subject is unmateched. very accessible and willing to help. only two group projects and a final. come to class and be active and you will do fine. highly recommended
this course was fantastic. professor Nachum is an incredible expert on emerging markets. she taught me so much about how business work in emerging markets. best course i have taken so far at baruch. very well thought out course.
one of my most enjoyable courses of the mba. professor nachum is very passionate about the subject and care about the development of her students. excellent powerpoints, interesting readings and updated cases. you will learn a lot.
She's extremely passionate and has endless energy. Must do the reading and must be willing to participate in the class discussion otherwise she gets frustrated. 1 semester-long group project with minimal direction, midterm and final (multiple choice). She posts her slides before every class but you need to read the very dense book too.
All the readings are cases. She has PPT slides posted before every class. Take home final is 2 essays. 2 group projects given with not much time to do them in. A lot of classroom discussion and low structure to the class. Did not enjoy and didn't retain much. Because the class was small, she always noticed who was missing.
I think she's extremely knowledgeable, but a little rough when it comes to seeking student's feedback for discussions in class. However, I would recommend her because she is extremely passionate and very willing to help. She may be particular, but she teaches well and the workload was a lot, but not unmanageable.
Professor Nachum is crazy amazing with all that she does and she brings such passion to international business learning. I appreciate all that she has taught me. She expects a lot out of you, and the workload shows it, but it was fun, if you have a great group, like I did. A take-home final exam with plenty of time to complete it.
An amazing professor. She is very clear and organized. Just read the book thoroughly and do her practice and you will be more than ok.
it was one of the best classes i took in my entire academic studies. excellent professor. i wish all baruch professors were teaching on the level professor nachum does.
excellent engaging professor. very knowledgeable. made me think to change my major to IB
refreshing to take a class with a professor as knowledgeable as Nachum. she really knows her stuff and deliver the material in an exciting and interactive way. I would definitely take a class with her again if I have to decide between different professors
Very frustrating professor and class. Her tests questions are ambiguous and littered with grammar errors. She also refuses to answer clarification questions during the exam, so your grade will largely depend on how well you can guess on what the question is asking. Her lectures are just as unclear and lack cohesion, which is a shame.
The worst professor I've taken so far. She is very confusing and doesn't provide any feedback. No curve on the exams as well.
Worst professor in the MBA program. Has her views on the how and why of international business, anything else is flat out wrong. She is also rude and frequently seems to not understand what people are saying and says they are wrong, but someone else saying the same thing might be right. Twilight Zone of a class
Prof. N is an expert in her field & v. enthusiastic about the subject. She wants students to participate in class, but if you don't say exactly what she wants to hear, she'll dismiss your answer before you get a chance to finish your sentence. There is a lot to read but material is not that difficult. Exams are relatively easy.
Not sure why anyone would think Professor Nachum is an expert in her field. She has her point of view and can't explain why anything else is wrong. Gave zero feedback on the one assignment we had to turn in and present. She is also very disrespectful. Most people don't come to class and do fine.
She could forgive nobody but herself. In her class she asks students to participate but only accepts answer she thinks is right. She will not let you finish your points if what you say is not from the book. 30% of the grade is from an unfair designed project. And she did not give any feedback or explanation for her grading criteria.
Professor Nachum does seem knowledgeable, and she is passionate about the topic. However, her unprofessionalism (i.e. overcritical during class discussions, missing 3 classes and no-showing for the final) made the class unenjoyable. Advice: for the final project, focus almost solely on the presentation. The paper is not that important
Disrespectful both in and outside of the classroom. Promotes only her views of the IBS landscape. All tests are based on textbook reading nothing from class lectures. Tests questions are confusing and written with broken English. IBS was my undergraduate and this was by far the worst class/teacher I have ever experienced. This is an MBA course.
She refused to provide the breakdown of our project, which is very unprofessional. She is unreachable via email and not responding most of time.
excellent professor. comparing with other profs at baruch, this is one of the better classes
nachum is the best professor i have had in baruch. she is fantastic
thought provoking, bleeding edge reflection on MNE and EM strategies, pitfalls, caveats and nuances. should be a required class because it forces you to look beyond the surface of FDI to see where opportunities lie and how to exploit them.
Was only nice at the last class when encouraging students to switch to her major, but was a real grump all other classes. Never responded to any emails, was absent from midterm and final, and constantly called out anyone who dared to participate but didn't give the exact answer she had in mind, or who didn't speak loud enough for her liking.
The worst professor I have ever met, avoid her.
this is the third course i took with professor nachum. i learned from her courses more than from any other course i took in baruch. she is great. i wish there were more professors like her in baruch.
Great class. I learned a lot. the professor is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Made a saturday morning class not so bad.
great professor. interesting classes. made me change my major to ib.
very good professor. really cares about her students. I learned a lot from her class.
professor nachum is an expert in her field and an excellent teacher. she is best in baruch in leading case discussions. her course is well organized and the readings and cases very good and recent. excellent course.
i took three classes with this professor and enjoyed all of them. the material is well structured and organized and the professor helps students learn. sometimes she speaks too fast but you get used to it. overall she is a nice lady and she cares about her students.
very good professor. i like how she facilitate class discussion and also how she tell people they are wrong. too many students get away with bs with other professors. just come to class and you get an easy A.
this professor is best in baruch in case teaching. she knows how to handle different views of different students. she teaches very useful things. I used what I learned in her class in a job interview and got the job. her classes are very engaging. sometimes too many overheads and much material, but overall very good.
So bad. She forgot to come to class twice. Was never there when we had an exam (in case we had questions) and would yell at us, saying we didnt speak loud enough. She gave sporadic, all over the place notes. Really didn't enjoy this class, but it was mandatory for my MBA.
professor nachum is very good. She requires much work but you learn a lot from her and I am using what she taught us in my work. She works hard to make you learn the material. I definitly recommend her.
good course. well structured and organized. professor very knowledgeable and helpful. give sample exams. she is annoying sometimes with her questions but overall very good. take her.
good professor. great course.
awful class, worse professor
Horrible professor!!!! Disrespectful to students. terrible lecturer. She has a serious attitude problem, worst professor at Baruch. Avoid her!!!!!!!!!!!!
The professors professional abilities are questionable. Even though she has an impressive bio, the teaching style is inappropriate for Baruch. It seems that she is most of the time the only professor who teaches this class and I don't understand why since there are so many great prof. at Baruch.
I wish I took a different professor.
Agree w neg reviews. Also she gave out participation grade on the last day by having 2 MBA classes (100+ppl) come to the auditorium, she then called students to raise hands and graded each on the spot. Since participation is 25% of grade, a professional MBA Prof should make contemporary class notes, not grade 100+ppl based on feeling on d spot
Why is it all the good reviews are written in the same manner? The same person probably writes them all. Professor Nachum embraces the idea that multinational corporations are the best thing for the world since sliced bread, however when asked to justify certain things she brushes you off.
Not incredible but not at all bad. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews - I've had way worse professors at Baruch (and elsewhere). She covered the material with a good mix of lecturing and class participation. Plus, I skipped three classes, didn't study much, and still got an A-.
a nice professor. love her teaching style - she makes you think and learn. very knowledgeable only two multiple choice exams; easy if you don't miss classes. a fun group project. don't believe al these bad reviews - a lot of nonesense. class participation is not graded and they blame her for it. take it
great professor!
Presented the material in a very engaging way. Took the Sat class and did not get bored. If you read the pages she assigns(fraction of a chap) you should be good. 1 group paper and a final(gave us a sample exam which helped). I would take her again yet ibs9600 is way too basic if you know anything about business concepts you know the material.
the best professor I had in Baruch.
very good class.
I guess she's ok. If you know IB and economics already you will be fine, otherwise be prepared to work. Gives a ton of reading
professor is very nice. very helpful. she cares about her students. I will take more classes with her
take it! easy A. just come to classes and you do well. one final very easy - finished in one hour, one group porjcet. I hardly studied and received an A
The 9700 classes consisted of reading interesting HBR cases, and two 3-person team assignments (5pg single-spaced papers). You learn a lot of interesting things! I found Emerging Markets more interesting. Rubs some students the wrong way at times, but you either love or hate her teaching style. Great environment to network. Easy to get A- or better
Class project 40% Final exam 60%. Project is a joke, with about 45 minutes of work per team-member to get it done. Classes are long because it's once a week. Lectures are more or less interesting. If you feel that she's ignoring you, or just letting you talk and then moving on, that's probably because she is. Says "your point is well taken" a lot.
Her lectures are really interesting. Took in the summer and she is very adamant about reading the textbook, so do the readings. Tests are based on a combination of slides and the textbook. One midterm, one final and a group project (easy). She is very funny and calls on students to give examples a lot. Be prepared for class!
She often comes to class very well prepared. Do have a sense of humor, and is quite a good teacher.
Hands down to the WORSTTTTTTT PROF EVERRRRR. She left a 3-hour class because some student didn't read the textbook. She offends every student and doesn't care at all. I don't understand how her rating is so high when she's nothing but a horrible prof. She wants everyone to know everything before she even "explains" something. DONT TAKE HER!!!!!
Best professor you can get in Baruch College. She always comes very well prepared, encourages students to participate in class and also respects everyone's opinions. She is very knowledgeable about international issues, so it is perfect for teaching International Business. Take this class, you won't find a professor like her in any class in Baruch.
1 midterm, 1 final, 1 group paper. Doesn't take attendance but if u don't go to class you won't know half the stuff on the tests. She loves participation and gets irritated when no one does. Makes a huge point about reading the textbook, which is annoying cause each chpt. is about 20 pgs. long. take it if you're SUPER knowledgeable bout int. mkt.
Professor Nachum is a "real-world" instructor. She is knowledgeable on current international issues. She is very BIG on participation!! Read the textbook and slides prior to each class, trust me any participation will be well received. Exams are a combination of lecture, slides and textbook.. nothing from MARS, no surprises. Group project easy!
I LOVED her! She is very knowledgeable about almost every international matter that came up during classes. It is required to be prepared to class and read the textbook- like she prepares! I highly recommend taking her class and would take an additional class for sure.
She has lots of expectancies towards students such as reading a chapter which has 20 pages or more before the class. One midterm, final and group project. Her exams are tough, 50 multiple questions for the midterm and final, answer choices are very similar to each other which make these exams difficult. She's an intelligent professor regardless.
First and foremost, shes experienced and very knowledgeable in the field of international marketing. Her class is difficult because you have to read textbook chapters (30+ pages long) to understand the lectures/concepts. Makes fuss about participation but overall I would say shes a fair grader. You must work hard if you want a good grade.
boriiiing classes and tough grader
She is great! Attendance is not mandatory, but it would be a big mistake for you to not go to class, since you will be missing her lectures and when time comes for group projects no one will want you in their group since you never show up. There is two exams, and finally a group project that is 35% . Come to class+read+good group Good grade
She's a lovely lady with the best intentions. But her classes could be better organized. She simply skips many of her slides because she's always running out of time. Otherwise, she's a good professor that really knows the subject. Her grading system is very black and white. One midterm and one final, that's it.
Exams are hard, tricky, and confusing all in one. she's a nice person but very strict in regards to exams. A midterm (45%) and a final (55%). DO NOT TAKE HER if you are not willing to dedicate yourself to the class.
Grade depends on one midterm and one final. Pretty straightforward. Shes very nice and knowledgeable. Passionate about the topic but its hard to keep up with her as her lectures are so long and boring. People barely participate so participate to get extra points. Read the textbook if you want to pass otherwise youll fail the exams.
Class mostly focuses on skills - case discussions, group projects, papers. No tests. Heavy class participation. Lots of experience in many countries. Make sure to clarify requirements for projects to avoid reduced grade. Highly recommended for MBAs.
She talks too fast with heavy accent, hard to follow
She may knowledgable but not deliver well, she is not good at on teaching, she is on her own frequency, very rush and choppy, only can get 60% what she said, lots of students couldnt get what her questions is, only 4 -5 students actively participating because of her teaching style, she must say 1000 Yayas in a class
Extremely hard professor. Almost same level as Calculus and intro accounting. Her slides are really confusing, there is too much information, more than calculus and almost the same as intro accounting memorization. Impossible to get 100 unless you study 6 hours a day, 5 times a week. Annoying keeps on saying "YA" and her exams are harder
The information taught in this course is out-of-dated. And the instructor gave agitative statements in class to seduce students to criticize certain countries. However, 99% of my classmates are nice and kind people who only state nothing but facts, except one student who seems to be an instructor in a community college who said disgusting things.
I really didn't expect this class to be so troublesome. This professor needs more training in her field. First off, it seems like she doesn't know how to navigate through the online community. She doesn't provide participation point, extra credit or instructions for the only assignment. Doesn't give test back and makes errors on it. Needs supervisi
Professor only accepts the keywords that she wants to hear and what is on the next slide. Her accent doesn't help either. She treats even the exec MBA students as kindergarten students. Her inputs are only the statements that she makes without specific analysis, adopts framework from popular articles but doesn't customize around specific analysis.
worst prof at baruch. do NOT take her. she may be a sweet person but horrible professor. midterm was posted late & final was posted 45 min late (not good for anxiety). does not care about students. small curve on midterm. cannot use technology. critiques harshly students group paper & doesnt let students finish explanation. bad educator all around
She is not good with technology and uses it as an excuse to not accommodate students with special needs. Speaks very fast with an accent making it hard to follow. Teaches some outdated information and seems out of touch. Easy class but you won't learn much or enjoy it.
Quite condescending and passive-aggressive. Demands class participation but repeatedly asks unclear questions and regularly cuts off / shuts down students trying to participate. Want better answers? Then ask better questions. A really unpleasant class setting that took the fun out of otherwise interesting coursework. Avoid however possible.
Worst Professor
Not too difficult of a class from a content perspective, but participation accounts for nearly half the grade. It is arbitrary and based on whether she thinks your response to her unclear/vague questions are good enough. The two group projects also do not have much direction. She's a nice lady but if you can avoid this class, you should.
The most dismissive professor I've ever had. She is extremely unclear when asking questions and then gets frustrated and dismisses students when they do not understand her question / do not give her the exact answer she is looking for. Do not take her class. You end up not wanting to participate despite it being a big part of your grade. Had her 2X
Horrible professor. She's extremely difficult to understand and straight up mean to her students when trying to participate. 0/10 do not reccomend.
Very caring may come off a little unclear but wants her students to do well
