This man may be the most boring person ever. This class is not supposed to be difficult however Stern makes it completely TERRIBLE. GET OUT NOW. He tries to help in office but it fidgety and awkward. Do not take him unless you want to teach yourself.
Just goes over powerpoint slides in class, and he puts them on the internet, so going to class is not required for doing well in this class. Tests are 20 MC questions and not bad. He posts the answers on webct to the quizzes and tests. its not bad at all.
he is very boring, reads off power point slides. puts everything on webct. tests were kinda difficult but the quizzes are easy. he lets u use a 3x5 card of notes for the tests.
He's a little dry, but is really into what he's teaching. Which makes the class ok He goes over the material from the day before each class, but wants you to understand it. Tests are a little tough but you do get a notecard. He's a little fidgety but overall pretty helpful if you go talk to him.
He really knows econ and he even helped me with other classes! The best large lecture class I've had. EVERYTHING is posted, he's around all the time, you can get some bonus points in class, a note card on exams, and a pre-curved grading scale! A's are tough, but B's & C's are pretty easy.
SO BORING! He reads off the powerpoints and makes everything seem much more difficult than it should be. He rambles and it's so hard to keep track of his thought process. We get a 3x5, but the tests are still hard. Ive worked my butt off and its the only class I’m not getting an A this semester, ugh
So boring. Would recommend another teacher. Answer questions in class for bonus points!! No reason to buy the book b/c he does power point slides. Tests are harder then what you would think. My GPA is above a 3.0 and I have trouble maintaining a B in this class!!
As much as I despise Stern and his BORING class, now that I am studing for the final I realized that his test questions came STRAIGHT from the slides(word for word). So if you unfortunately get him, his tests come 100% from the slides.no need to study anything else. DO EXTRA CREDIT!
I found his class to be very easy. Try not to pay too much attention to him in class and just study the slides before the test and combined with your note card, you'll be fine. Two tips: get the bonus points and dont buy the book.
Pretty easy class. He posts everything you will ever need for the course on WebCT. Gives everyone plently of chances for bonus points for the quizes and for tests. I regret not getting bonus points. It could've brought my grade up to an A.
He really is a nice guy, and his tests are fairly tricky, however, I stopped going to class after the first test, and I still managed to get a B. He has a sincere interest in his students, and for that reason, I am taking him for Macro Theory and Policy. He's a little odd, but really a good teacher!
My major is economics and love studying it, however, this man is so boring and does not teach well at all. His tests are impossible until the final b/c that is the only test u know what to expect. He doesn't care how much he helps u and does not care if his entire class fails-definately told me that
Total econ nerd. Reads directly from the slides and can be very boring. Test can be hard, gives 4 easy quizes. uses a prescaled grading system and you're allowed to bring an index card to tests and the final which makes it nearly impossible to fail the class. without much work you can get a C or B.
The tests, except the final, were very hard.I would know the material cold before the test and then leave mad and confused even with the notecard.Do not expect his test to be similar to his lecture problems. They are much more difficult! He does give bonus points for doing problems in front of the class
He was very boring...read straight off the slides that were on WebCT, so really no point in going to class. He was also not very helpful at all and admitted that he added some questions to the tests that we had not gone over so that not everyone could do perfectly. would not recommend him at all
This is the easiest economics class. Print out the notes on WebCT and study them, it isnt really even necessary to go to class. just study the powerpoints and make a good notecard. Easy A
I had him for Prin. of Macro, and he is so much more personable in a smaller class like Macro Theory & Policy. The guy is a freakin genius, and sometimes it's hard to pay attention b/c he is so smart. But he definitely takes an interest in the well-being of his students. Attend class, and you'll be
Stern is the man. In class, he covers everything you need to know to get an A. There are no surprises. If you're having any problems, go to his office. He wants everyone to do well. Great guy!
hard. scale is 85-100 for an A but dont let that trick you. thats only because the grades are so low. test and quiz questions are very tricky. very nice guy but boring class... reads off power point. go to class to see the examples he works out. didnt even look at the book... dont buy it.
Difficult class but he's better than Garrison. He offers bonus points and a 85-100 grade scale but BEWARE!!! Tests are very difficult and very tricky. Quizes will help your grade if you go to class and believe me you will need all the help you can get once the tests come around. Just be prepared for a lot of work if you take this class.
Nice guy and will help you if you need it. Class is prescaled (60-69 C, 70-84 B, 85-100 A). Gives chances for 5-6 bonus pts for your final grade. That being said, the tests are brutal. If you don't know the material very well you will find yourself in the D and C category more than the B or A. Hard class to do well in.
Horrible teacher...NEVER take him!!
He does offer bonus, an 85-100 A scale, and you can use notecards on tests, but the tests and quizzes can be hard. I went to almost every class and made an A without ever doing homework. We never opened the book. Just go to class, work the bonus problems, study, and you'll be fine. His lectures are repetitive and detailed but he's nice overall.
Word of advice: try to get bonus points! I only got one bonus point in the class but after the final I was a point shy of a C and that little point pushed me over. Had I not had that point I would have had to GAP the class.
whoever said this class was really hard was an IDIOT!!! the class is scaled!!! I had an 85 and it was an A - I didn't even go to 1/4 of the classes! just get the bonus points and do good on the quizzes - they're easy ways to boost your grade. you would have to be brain dead (or never go to class) to make less than a B, seriously...
The good thing is you never go to class.. the bad thing is the quizzes are hard. Test are somewhat easier just because you get to bring a notecard. BORING class though... extremely boring! I came out with a CLOSE B almost C.. if you have your choice I would say go with someone else. I would rather go to class and make a easier grade than not go.
Try to get him as your teacher. The scale really helps out and you can put anything you want on a notecard for his tests. If you get all the possible bonus points you can get a 79 in the class and get an A. There is no reason you should get below a B in this class.
very nice
not the most fun class, but interesting.

His test questions are fairly complex, but once you see how he forms them, it becomes easier. Make sure you know the material well; you can't really wing it on test day. He is a very nice guy and very willing to help (though he does ramble a bit). I felt I really learned something from this class.

Stern lets you use a 3x5 notecard on all three tests. This is very helpful for formulas and very small notes about the material. Nice guy and gives bonus for doing examples in class.

She is very helpful. and if you go to class its not too hard.
TERRIBLE! I mean, dude, he doesn't even know that Spider-Man is cooler than Super-Man. DURRRRRRRRR.

Difficult course. There are 5 quizzes, 2 exams, and a final. Gives bonus points which you should do. Only having two exams hurts. If you mess up on one, it can be an uphill battle the rest of the way. Lets you use a notecard on exams which is useful for formulas and other info, but even he admits it only does so much.
She is the best!!! make sure you go to her office hours and ask her questions. She is very helpful and nice. She will want you to do good.
I don't hate economics, but I did hate this class. Stern knows the subject extremely well, but that becomes more of a problem than an asset. For a principles class, he went too in-depth with the material. The notecard on exams is a nice idea, but there shouldn't be a need for that. The content was too complicated for the course. Boring lectures.
Very Intense Prof. Kinda Serious, but occasionally says something hilarious. Bonus Points are a MUST! Rambles in
Dr. Stern is SO nice! Her tests are hard, but her scale and bonus opportunities are great. You have to go to class and take GOOD notes. You get to use a note card on the tests too! She is more than helpful during her office hours. One of the few classes that's not in my major in COB that I really enjoyed and learned A LOT! Take her if you can!
She doesn't speak english very well and her mic cuts out constantly. Her slides suck and helped very little. She does let you have a notecard for tests. She knows what she is talking about, but couldn't teach to save her life! You'll be lucky to get good notes because she's too fast. Examples are on notes, but no solutions which are no help. AVOID!

This class was mildly difficult. The lectures were always posted before class which was a plus for me. You have the opportunity to earn 5 bonus points on top of a scaled grading system 100-85= A. Attendance was not required, but it will make the class easier since he does a thorough job of explaining things. Plus you paid for the class, why not go?
worst class i have ever taken. no need to go to class because he rambles so much it's nearly impossible to pay attention. he even acknowledges that he is rambling too much, but continues to do so. tests are VERY hard and he makes it clear he doesn't care if the class does well or NOT. smart guy, but too intense for 2030.
Sweet! Get all of the bonus points! You'll either do real good or real bad. He really knows how to take out the trash.
I would have done even better, but she's so hot its a major distraction!
Although class is boring, go and listen. It's very helpful to get bonus points and learn the math problem through examples. Study his old tests that he posts online for tests and quizzes. If you can find his wife's old tests those help to study as well. Overall not horrible! Get extra points for sure though!
Pretty good teacher. He is very in to ECON and can start to ramble. Tests aren't terribly hard, but study the example problems and slides. Goes on more of a 15-10 point scale. A-85% and up, etc. Pretty good class.
Awesome Class- she's a great teacher and the class wasn't too hard. The fact that the material was interesting was a nice bonus...and she's hot. So to clarify: Hot teacher + interesting stuff= take this class!
Hail Stern!! Emperor of Economics!!
BORING!! but extremely easy, definitely take him as a teacher!
His speech is dry and very academic sounding, which makes him very boring. I didn't use the book in this class. He acknowledges that the PowerPoint slides are all you need to get through the class. He's extremely helpful if you go to his office no matter how big or small your issue is. He cares even though he is boring. I recommend him.
this is the woman....not her husband
Good teacher she gives you chances to get bonus points if you need them and class isn't mandatory but its alot easier if you do go.
Fairly easy, 85 and up is an A, 75 and up is a C, etc. You get a notecard for each test, which helps to remember formulas. Class is not mandatory but go to get the answers to exercises because the tests are mostly exercises, and also be sure to do problems in front of the class for 4pts on your average.
Class is pretty boring but material is easy. You can use a note card on all the tests and that is very helpful. Easy A.
seems to be a sweet lady. i went to her for help, and she acted eager to help me, but will NOT bump you up in the end if you are just one point off!
If you have to take macro take liliana over her husband. Her class is pretty hard but all the lectures are on powerpoints but GO TO CLASS even though its not mandatory! The homework she requires you to do is exactly like the tests. You can earn up to 5 pts on your final grade if you do 5 problems in class /attendence pts. TAKE HER
SO EASY! Do the online homework in class as she goes through the chapter and it will make a lot more sense. If you get points off for forgetting to do the homework, then you are dumb. Also, GO TO CLASS even if you sleep through it. If you raise your hand in class to work a problem, she will give you a point on your final grade.
Easy, easy class. only 4 homeworks, do them all. Tests were not hard. Go to class and she will do exercises that are similar to test questions.
She is GREAT! My best class so far at Auburn.
Ms. Stern is an awesome instructor. Her class is pretty easy as long as you go to class and work the example problems she gives you. I would suggest going everyday because her class is pretty interesting. She does offer easy bonus points as well. I suggest studying the powerpoints and in-class problems. If you do, an A is easy to obtain.
Her lectures are all you need, and she posts them which is great. She explains things very well. Attendance is absolutely necessary because this whole class is basically working problems(she does not post answers to problems).
Nice teacher, but tests are very hard. Don't sit at the back because the microphone goes in and out and she's hard to understand already. Doesn't teach very well. And will NOT help you out on your grade.
I struggle with math and graphs so much, and I was dreading this class, but Dr. Stern makes it very easy to understand and keeps it interesting. She was born in the Soviet Union so she's full of great stories.
She makes this class doable. The third test killed my grade though and making an A after that was impossible so be prepared for that! The homework's are easy 100s and she pulls test questions from that. Study the practice problems and that for tests!
1st 2 tests are easy but the 3rd is much more difficult. Volunteer to do problems in class early and she will give you bonus points on your final grade. You can take a notecard to every test. Pretty easy class if you are relatively good at math. Otherwise, pay attention to her examples very closely. Boring class and she will not help your grade out
Easy & doable class. Attendance is not mandatory, but to do well in the class you must go! Lecture PowerPoints are posted on Canvas, but you must attend class to know how to do the problems. She allows extra credit by volunteering to do problems which helps your grade. Accent is hard to understand at times, but overall it's an easy class! Take her!
Dr.Stern is a great teacher. Shouldn't have any problems if you take her. Just go to class and try and you should get an A.
This class is pretty easy, but if you don't go to class you will not do very well. She gives bonus points for attendance and doing problems in front of the class. You also get to use a note card for all of the tests and the final.
Sweet teacher with an understandable accent. Problems on test are straight from her in-class power points and examples. She posts all the power points online, but not the worked examples. If you go to class and pay attention, the tests and exam are a breeze with a little reviewing. I had no prior economics knowledge, and I am coming out with an A.
She's a great teacher! She has an accent, but I never had problems understanding her. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she takes attendance once randomly during the semester and gives a bonus point to those present. She also gives points for doing problems on the overhead. DO IT!! She tells you exactly what to write down and they're easy points.
She's kind of a hard teacher. Class is not mandatory and you should volunteer to work the problems on the board for extra credit. I rarely went to class and only studied old tests and did the homework and I made it out with a B
if you dont go to class youll get a bad grade. you have to study because the tests are really hard. first test is easy but the second and third will kill your grade. usually a sorority will have old tests but dont only study that. do all hw and extra point opportunities. fighting for a decent grade in this class. take someone else if possible.
Absolutely loved this class. The lectures can be a bit boring, but for an Honors Class it is one of the best I've taken. 4 tests and homework are your grade, but she gives the opportunity to have up to 5 bonus points on your final grade. She also allows you to bring in a full notecard for the tests. Great class.
Took this class bc I needed a social science. BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE! Dr. Stern made me love Econ even though it's so unrelated to my major. Offers tons of extra credit. If you don't come out with an A, you're doing something wrong. She uses real world examples and is so knowledgable. Very personable, friendly, & loves getting to know students.
Dr. Stern is a wonderful person. She is very serious about her job and wants her students to do well. Definitely go to class and take good notes, because you will really need them when studying for tests. Do all of the extra credit, it isn't hard. Lastly, don't expect the material to come natural to you. It's economics, it takes some time.
Dr. Stern is a very nice lady and I would take her class again in a heartbeat. She gives extra credit in the form of percentage points for both participation and attendance. The homeworks are through myeconlab, and there is one before each exam. She always has an interesting perspective from growing up in the Soviet Union, making for great stories!
Much, much easier than honors microeconomics with Sophocleus. She is pretty straightforward and teaches off of a powerpoint. Lots of math on the tests. She lets you bring in an index card with anything you want on it for the tests. Gives a pretty good bit of bonus for participation.
I didn't like Professor Stern, even though I love economics. She's not there for you if you need some help. If you missed an assignment, even if you have en excuse you are in trouble. Don't take her class
Stern is great. She grew up in communism and shares whyhow it doesn't work in America. She is super easy and gives you bonus for going up to the board to work the problems. She is super helpful and an A with minimal effort.
The class itself was fun to learn about, my advice is to try your best to not take it at 8 am. You will not want to go. the textbook is useless, so if you can somehow buy just the access code just so you can do the homework that would be best. The workout problems you do during class are also extremely useful and really recommend doing those.
Stern is very tough. I would not suggest taking her course!
Over all an okay class. She gives lots of extra credit, so take advantage of that. Sometimes she can be hard to understand.
The homework is online and is really easy but you do have to work to get a good grade on the test
TAKE HER FOR ECON2030. I NEVER went to class. only went for the tests. MADE A 96!!! if you are a class goer, she gives tons of extra credit opportunity!
Dr. Stern wasn't a bad professor, but she definitely was not my favorite professor I've had at Auburn. The class is straightforward, but she is not a friendly communicator through email. She is not empathetic at all if you have technical difficulties during exams.
DO THE EXTRA CREDIT AT THE BEGINNING!! She gives up to 5 points on your final average, so definitely take advantage of that. Course gets harder as the semester goes on and the material builds on itself, so don't zone out or not go to class because you're doing well in the beginning. Stern is great, pay attention and you'll do really well.
She gives 5% extra credit for participating in class. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! It's seriously so easy. As far as the course goes, the powerpoints are online so you can skip class but it's helpful to go. Stern is the best and wants you to succeed, I'd take her again for sure!
A lot of people talk about how getting the extra credit is easy, but it's not. With so many people in the class it is hard to get her to call on you, even if you sit in the front. I recommend going to class. I could've done so much better if I had gone. She allows you to use a notecard on the test but if you don't know the material it won't help.
This class probably would have been easier if I had attended. It was very boring and it was hard to get called on for the extra credit points. She allows a note card for each test. There's a lot of math and a lot of graphs/rules to remember. Homework isn't too hard. Overall ok class, just actually attend and pay attention and work out the problems.
Dr. Stern was a fantastic teacher. The first exam is difficult but you learn how to study quickly after that. She offers ample bonus and is extremely helpful in office hours. DO THE HOMEWORK.
If you don't mind getting up in front of the whole class and doing a short econ problem on a projector, you'll love this class. She lets you do that up to 4 times for 4 points added to your whole grade- although it can be hard to get her to call on you. tests are all multiple choice and you can bring a double sided notecard for each one.
Only takes attendance once for extra credit
Make sure to go to class and do the in-class extra credit; it definitely makes a difference. Study the lecture problems before each test. If you know how to solve them, you should do well. Took participation 2 times for extra credit. Assigns online HW before each test, but it's similar to lecture problems and isn't too difficult. Study old tests.
I have been to class few times and made a 100 on the first test. As long as you can get the examples from someone who goes and can work them out on your own, you're golden on tests! Also review the powerpoint she posts on Canvas. She gives extra credit though it's hard to get her to call on you to work out a problem for the class.
Pretty easy teacher. She is very knowledgable about how the world works and really hates all types of socialism. Her lectures can be pretty boring, but make sure to show up and take advantage of the extra credit opportunities she gives.
Class isn't very hard, but lectures can be boring. You get a notecard for each test which is very helpful and prevents you from forgetting the many formulas.
Professor Stern is great. She is so nice and you can tell she cares about her students and the class. You can do problems in front of the class to earn up to 4 points to your average. Her tests are pretty easy if you go to class regularly.
Show up, make a good notecard for the test, and get an A. Go up to the board 5 separate times and earn 5 overall points on your final average. Write down the problems she works on the board because that's whats on the test. Awesome professor who really cares about her students. Definitely take her for this course. You can get an A with some effort.
She's an amazing professor. Offers 5 whole grade points of extra credit and a notecard for each exam. Go to class and do the lecture problems and you will do fine on the exams.
Great professor that does her best to make sure every student excels in her class. Would definitely take her class again!
You get to use a notecard on the exams with anything you want on it so they aren't bad. Even if you do poorly on a test you can earn up to 5% extra credit for participating and that makes it a lot easier.
Take Stern for Macro. Her class could not be easier to get a good grade in if you put forth a little effort. There are 3 Exams, 4 Homeworks (each available the week before the test or final), then a Final Exam. If you go to class a majority of the time and fill out lecture notes you will get an A or a B. If you have a decent work ethic, take her.
It was great having Dr. Stern for Macro. She was clear and concise during lectures and she made the material easy to learn. Sometimes she took the long way to get to the point, but it made it that much easier to break it down for yourself later. She's also easy on the eyes and the accent made it even better :)
She gives EC but grab it early bc more people volunteer at the end. She was super sweet and will know you if you participate!
Liliana is super nice! I'm in her money and banking class abroad in Madrid this summer and she is very helpful. Highly recommend
Dr. Stern was very refreshing to have as a teacher. I had her for macro on my abroad trip, and amongst some teachers that were unorganized and not helpful, she stood out as easily the best. She was very organized and clear, while being very accessible and helpful. The class also was fairly easy and if you put in effort then you would get an A.
I took money and banking with Dr. Stern, and she is one of my favorite professors I've had. She is a great person and loves her students. She works very hard to make the class the best it can be. I highly recommend taking any of her courses, she's awesome and you won't regret it.
Took her class online for a study abroad program, the course was very straightforward and lecture powerpoints were easy to read. Super nice professor, would definitely recommend
Stern was by far my favorite professor! Shes kind, hilarious, and just a great teacher. She gives you plenty of opportunities to do the extra credit and shell even add extra credit for something else if she can. You can use a notecard on the test for formulas so as long as you study and attend class youll do fine.
She's so cute ! Honestly she makes class super easy to listen to. She says she will only take attendance occasionally but she does it everyday. If you take good notes during class, then you will do well. Offers extra credit in class every day and lets you have a notecard for tests.
I enjoyed having Stern as my professor. The material was relatively easy to me. You only had one homework assignment due before each test which served as more of a study guide. She offers 5 points extra credit if you volunteer to work a problem in front of the class. She does take attendance almost every single day, but she's a good lecturer.
Dr. Stern is a great professor. You have homework assignments before each test which are very similar to the test. She allows you to have a notecard for each test to copy formulas and notes on which make the test much easier.
Professor Stern is amazing! She posts the problems that we do in class each lecture beforehand on canvas, so it is easy to follow along. She gives you the chance for extra credit to go up to the front of the class and work a problem, and assigns homework to be due before each test. You get to bring a notecard in for each test. Take her class!
This class was not the worst. However, SHE TAKES ATTENDANCE EVERY CLASS even tho she says she only takes it randomly. Go to class, do the lecture problems, & study. It is sometimes easy to get very bored but push thru. She knows her stuff. The final was easy because she used old test questions based on the % of people who did the class evaluation.
Makes lectures very understandable. Offers plenty of extra credit opportunities: do them earlier in the semester. Final was super easy bc she uses the % of people who fill out the eval is the % of old test questions from Canvas. Really sweet and wants you to do well. Tophat attendance everyday and some participation questions. Easy A
Great class. She goes above and beyond to help her students.
Please take her. The Lectures were so long and boring I almost dropped the class at one point (because attendance is mandatory), but keep going. All 3 tests are not too difficult and the final is EASY. She also gives extra credit worth up to 5 WHOLE OVERALL GRADE POINTS. She basically gives you an A if you go to class and do the extra credit.
She wants you succeed and will do her best to make sure the grading is fair. Gives an ample amount of bonus so theres really no excuse for not making a good grade in the class. Lectures can drag on a bit but Id chalk that up to the course material.
Prof. Stern was so great. Her lecture slides are online and she gives study guides for all of her exams. The class overall was a little difficult but not bad at all. She is super friendly and helpful especially in office hours.
Such a nice woman! Easy class for the most part. Posts lectures on canvas and only had four homework assignments for the entire semester.
Very caring towards her students and wants to get to know you and help you. I loved her as my teacher. Lots of extra credit opportunity. Get a notecard for exams. Lots of office hours and want to help you! Highly recommend taking her class.
She is so nice and cares about what you get in the class. I got A's on every test, she posts her lectures online and the homework is very similar to the tests. I recommend her for this class!!
No textbook required--it's all from her PowerPoints. You get a notecard on the tests and she takes a lot of her final exam straight from old tests. Lecture isn't necessary but she takes random attendance and does TopHat questions from time to time. Great teacher for Macroeconomics!
This class is quite easy all things considered. She puts problems that will be worked in class online, so you can print them off and follow along pretty easily. The tests aren't bad and you're allowed to bring a 3x5 notecard in for the 3 tests and a 4x6 for the final. She takes attendance randomly once a week and that is 10% of your grade. Easy $.
Ms. Stern is a good choice if you are taking Macro. You get a notecard on each exam, including the final. I could've gotten an A in this class if I had showed up to all the classes that she took attendance in, since she does them on random days throughout the year. So just show up and make good notecards and you'll do fine.
Dr. Stern gives 4 exams including the final. There are four homework assignments that are due right before each exam. She gives students the opportunity to get 5 bonus points added to their overall grade by going up to work a problem in front of the class. If you go to class and take notes on all in class questions you will do fine.
She is probably the best professor I have ever had. She offers extra credit that is will add 5% to your final grade! She makes her lectures easy to understand and the homework that she posts online is exactly like the test. I highly recommend taking her.
Not sure why her rating is so low- pay more attention to the recent reviews of her. Basically this class is incredibly easy. You have more extra credit opportunities than you know what to do with AND you get to bring a note card to the tests. Don't blow it off and you will make an A. Definitely recommend
She takes attendance just about every day. She also assigns a homework assignment the week before each test. Really good teacher. Go to class!
Great professor, knows her stuff and explains things well. Has a Ukrainian accent but you get used to it. She takes attendance randomly throughout the semester. can get extra credit by working a problem in front of the class
Amazing teacher. Really cares about her students. Go to class and you can get extra credit. Highly recommended. I went to her office hours a lot and that was the only reason I got an A.
Take her if you can. She allows for students to work problems on the projector for extra credit. She uses Tophat for attendance and participation grades. She lets you bring note cards with information on them into the exam and the final is accumulative. She has a Ukrainian accent but you get used to it.
Dr. Stern is a solid choice. Lecture-based class that is practically math class. Goes over problems with the class via power point. Uses TopHat for attendance and participation so definitely go to class. Allows a note card to be used on each exam due to a lot of formulas needed. Very polite and her accent is not too thick.
Probably one of the best professors Ive had at Auburn and Im not even an economics major. Never been too good at economics so I got a B. You get used to the Ukrainian accent. Get a notecard for each exam. Take her if possible!!
Take her if you can! She does practice problems in class that are almost the exact same as ones on her test. Also, you get to use a notecard on each test. There is never any homework and you can get bonus points added to final for going up and working a problem. Very nice lady!
Really hard to understand her. She seems nice enough, but it's tough to pass this class without some help.
Lectures every day, but easy enough to understand if you attend every class and put in effort to practice the homework problems. She offers extra credit if you volunteer to work a problem in class. Exams are alright if you study the lectures and homework. You can bring one notecard with formulas for the exams which is very helpful
She is amazing, anyone who doesnt like her/her courses just doesnt want to put in any work. She gives homeworks that are clear study guides for the exam and boost your grade. She explains things clearly and concisely and is very knowledgeable. Take her she is an awesome professor (and gives extra credit points)
Really enjoyed this class. She gives plenty of practice problems in each lecture to make sure we understand. Tests never had something on it we did not go over.
She is the best prof I've had!!very funny & understanding. Lectures are interesting & there's weekly TopHat reviews that help prep for exams. Lets you use notecard on exams and gives opportunity for +5 bonus points to final average (earned from random opps & for working problems in front of class). Easy class if you put in effort & go to class.
High energy and a fun professor to take. She gives examples of anything she expects you to know for exams. Very fair teacher, and if you put in the word, there is no way you can fail. She truly is a gem. There are exams and a few homeworks, but if you take good notes, you will have everything you need to get an A! Meant to be a professor
She is an amazing teacher. Gives you every opportunity to learn the material.
Actually the sweetest prof ever! She goes over examples of everything, and the tests are just like the lectures and homework. If I could take her again I would, she was so sweet.
Amazing professor. She goes through and explains exactly what you are expected to learn, and does not throw anything at you that you aren't prepared for. If you listen to lectures and do the homework you are pretty much given an A. Homework is very similar to tests.
Dr. Stern is amazing! She really helps you understand the material and is very willing to meet outside of class. The exams are just like the homework so if you make sure you understand them you will be sure to pass! She is amazing!
Macro-econ is not my favorite class so I wasn't super excited going into this course. While I didn't love the material, Professor Stern is good. She gives opportunities to do problems for extra credit. She doesn't take attendance, but I would definitely go to class so you can have a better understanding of the material. Overall would recommend
Macro is not an easy course, but Professor Stern ensures you understand the material. Attendance is not mandatory, but class is essentially just practice problems, and you will not get the answers if you do not go. Discussion + TopHat due each week, three exams, and one cumulative final. If you go and put in the effort, you will perform well :)
She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. You need to attend class to know how to work the problems even though it is not required. The only homework is packback and tophat which are both pretty easy.
Mrs. Stern does have an accent but I was still able to learn so much from her. She is a great professor and an even better person. Attendance is not mandatory but if you go to class she gives you the opportunity to get EC by working on problems. I loved this class and would totally recommend taking it with Mrs. Stern.
Instead of rattling off statistics and reciting memorized lectures alongside a PowerPoint, Dr. Stern engages with her students. You can tell that she genuinely cares for her students and is passionate about teaching just by sitting through one class. Her stories of growing up in the former Soviet Union are absolutely incredible.
I loved this professor and will definitely try to take another of her classes. I really think you need to attend lectures in order to succeed, but she does not make attendance mandatory. Very caring lady and willing to meet with you to help in any way. I missed a test bc of being sick and worked with me. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities.
She lets you have a notecard on the tests and exams. The homework is easy. If you show up and take notes it is an easy A. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should probably go. One of the easiest classes I've taken.
Good teacher, knowledgeable about her class, gives extra credit for participation, tests are very similar to the homework.
Liliana Stern was a great professor who really enjoyed teaching economics. You could get 5 bonus points added to your entire grade (75->80) by simply working 5 of the hundreds of problems she allows students to work through in front of the class.
She is AMAZING! Class attendance isn't mandatory, but go to class!! In class, she lectures and we do exercise problems and the answers are not posted. You can get up to 5 whole bonus points on your grade at the end of the semester if you answer problems in front of the class (but she guides you through them and tells you what to right).
Professor Stern is amazing!! She gives you up to five bonus points on your final grade for working an easy problem in class or coming to class. If you volunteer to work a problem, she tells you the answer to write. Her tests are exactly like the homework so if you follow along in class and know how to do the homework then the class is an easy A.
Liliana is a great teacher. She gives so much extra credit, and she knows what she's talking about in her lectures. She is really good about practice problems, and she posts all of her lectures and notes online. Would highly recommend taking
Professor Stern is really nice. The class is pretty straight forward too. As long as you show up to class, you will get a good grade. Also, make sure that you go in front of the class and do the extra credit problems. Super easy way to boost your grade.
Mrs. Stern is an amazing professor who cares and she make it very easy for you. All tests have a 3x5 notecard allowed with anything on it. She is nice and explains everything. Go to class, it's not required but it will be much easier if you do and you'll get extra credit.
Professor Stern is amazing... I had never taken econ in high school and still managed to do really well. She cares about her students and gives bonuses for showing up to random classes. Just go to class, pay decent attention, and you will get an A. She is also pretty funny and cancels class at minor inconveniences like the mic not working.
3 tests and final with a homework a week essentially. Attendance not required but took attendance for bonus 3 times. Had to work problems in front of class for other bonus points. Tests weren't bad either.
An amazing professor that gives extra credits when you go work out problems in front of the class. She also allows a cheat sheet on the test! Attendance isn't required but sometimes she gives extra credit when you show up.
I'm telling you I would die for this woman. She is so kind and thoughtful and literally wants you to understand the material. I took her for principles and intermediate and as someone who isn't a Econ major and doesn't really like Econ, I would totally take her for another course if I could. It isn't easy but she wants to help.
Her tests are exactly like her lectures and she allowed a notecard cheat sheet for all exams, including the final. She's offers extra credit for students who volunteer during class. A really good professor.
By far favorite professor I have had. If you want to make an A, she makes it so easy for you if you put in work. Show up and you get extra credit. Do a practice problem in class (which is usually a test question), she gives you extra credit. Always willing to answer questions in office hours
Lectures are actually interesting even if the material isn't because she does a great job explaining why the material actually matters outside the classroom. Lecture heavy for sure but so long as you go to all the classes the material isn't that bad.
Great teacher. Really good bonus system that almost guarantees an A if you actually try a little. Must take
I really liked Dr. Stern and the class as well. Class consists of lectures as well as working through practice problems step by step. Students can work the problems in front of the class for extra credit. Tests are similar to the practice problems/top hat problems and you are allowed to have a notecard with whatever material you want written down.
Stern is very nice and easy to talk to. Go to class. It's so easy to skip because attendance isn't mandatory but most things that she teaches are something you need to know how to apply on the test not just memorize. Tests aren't very hard if you listen in class.
Professor Stern is such an amazing teacher. Extra credit is super easy to get and the tests are basically the same problems you do in class and for homework. Attendance isn't mandatory but the only way to get answers to problems is in class so definitely go. Easy class if you attend and pay attention.
I loved her, she was super sweet and you can get bonuses easily that are added to your final grade. The class was slightly difficult for me just because its hard concepts but she makes it a lot better. Tests are a lot from examples she works in class and your grade isn't all tests because she assigns Tophat homework. Definitely recommend!
I learned so much in Dr. Stern's classes. Her lectures were very interesting and thorough. Her tests were very easy, but I never missed a class and studied. I would take her again!
Dr.Stern was a great teacher. Her class attendence is not mandatory but is heavily encouraged. She offers 5 points of extra credit to your overall grade in the form of working problems in front of the class or randomly taking attendence. She lets you use a index card full of notes for the tests and finals.
Would NOT recommend taking summer minimester. You will not learn macroeconomics. prerecorded lectures were 2 years old so there was no discussion of current events. She just reads the slides and mumbles few extra things, You cannot work ahead. Modules were not distributed equitatively. Had 4 modules week of July 4th with test at end of that week.
I cannot say enough good things about her. I wish my major was more economics-focused so that I could take her again. She is very easy to understand and explained things so that you can easily grasp the concepts. You also have many extra credit opportunities. There is no reason you should not make an A in this class!
LOVE HER! You get half of a letter grade just by going up to the board. This class is by no means easy but she is an amazing teacher and can help you to actually learn. Two exams and one final. 5 homework assignments. The homeworks are time-confusing but she is such an amazing teacher. Just show up and she will help you!!
She was such a great teacher!! Not very difficult at all and she definitely wanted to help you learn. She gave opportunities to get bonus points and the homework can help your grade as well.
She's a great teacher! Sometimes a little hard to understand her but she gets that and makes it to where you will get it. Only reason I wouldn't take her again is because I', done with econ work. She gives extra credit, tests come straight from problems done in class. Attendance isnt mandatory but if you want a solid A you need to go to class.
Liliana Stern is an amazing professor who genuinely cares. If you show up to class, you will do good. Take notes and do the practice problems as tests are exactly the same as the problems and the problems from top hat. You can get an extra 5% just by doing a problem on the board. Highly highly recommend her for Macro!!!
5% extra credit to add to your overall grade for participation or just showing up to class on random days. easy class if you GO TO CLASS. Know how to do the homework questions and in class questions and you will get an A on every test. Get a notecard cheat-sheet for every test which was awesome. Very intellectual teacher and loved her fits.
Business is my minor and she made this content so exciting to learn! If you attend class and complete the homework, you will be just fine. There is a possibility of 5% bonus added to your final grade just by working problems on the board. My favorite business class i've taken! Take her for sure if you need this class!!!!!
Stern is overall a good professor. Her class requires effort to get an A but it is very doable. She lets you answer questions in class for bonus which actually helps your grade so I recommend it. I also recommend making sure you know how to do the top hat questions before a test and you'll be fine. She is a nice lady but sometimes hard to understand
Great class! Pretty easy elective and very interesting at times! Lot's of extra credit opportunities. Very knowledgeable and good teacher.
Professor Stern is a good professor. This class honestly just requires effort to get an A. Super sweet lady and offers a lot of extra credit in terms of doing problems in front of the class and random attendance points. She has an accent but is very easy to understand, plus has so many cute outfits. I recommend!
She does a lot of practice problems in class so even though she does not take attendance I would recommend going to class. She also gives opportunities for up to 5% extra credit. She is also very good at responding to emails and is willing to work with you outside of class.
Attendance not mandatory but she does occasional bonus points for people who come to class. Grade comprised of three exams, easy homeworks, and a final. She gives bonus points for doing problems in front of the class (up to 5) and walks you through the problem so it's easy. She also lets you bring a reference notecard to each exam.
Stern is a sweet professor who makes this econ class engaging. Attend class, do the homework, and utilize tools like Unstuck ai for study prep - you'll earn an easy A. She offers bonus points and a cheat sheet for tests. Definitely take this course!
Extra credit is clutch. She does worksheets in class so it is really easy to understand the material. She also allows a notecard on the tests which helps a lot.
As long as you go to class and pay attention you should be good. Lots and lots of graphs. Allows index card for cheat sheet on exams. She makes the students do the example exercises in front of the class and if you volunteer you get extra credit. Homework is short and sweet. Tests are slightly confusing at times but she's a great professor
Great professor, I am so terrible at Economics so my grade is not a reflection on the teaching at all. She offers extra credit opportunities during every lecture and allows you to view past tests so that you can use them to study. There are 4 exams that all count towards the overall grade as well as 15 homework assignments.
I suck at economics, so my grade should not reflect Dr. Stern's teaching ability. She is a great professor who is very knowledgeable about the topic. She gives extra credit during class and works out all the problems in the lectures so that you know how to do it. If you can take her, do it.
If you struggle with economics to begin with, you have to take Dr. Stern. She is very knowledgeable in econ as a whole. The lectures are long and packed with information. She will post the lectures but not the problems she does in class which are KEY. 4 exams, 14 HW, and allows notecard on exams. Offers up to 5 bonus points. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
The class itself isn't hard as long as you put effort into it. Gives extra credit for working out problems in front of the class and allows for note cards to bring to exams. Pay attention and you should do well
Great professor who i have taken twice voluntarily. MUST TAKE. Hard classes but she truly wants you to succeed.
A good professor. Personally I am not good at Econ so I found it fairly difficult but she gives extra credit opportunity and homework grades to balance out exam grades. Her lectures feel a little rushed but if you go to office hours she can help you understand. Takes attendance random days so just be aware of that.
Definitely recommend for macro! Extra credit everyday for volunteering to do the problem. Exams are just like tophat homework and in class problems. You can bring a notecard for exams which is super helpful. Attendance isn't mandatory but that is how you get the in class problem answers because she doesn't post a key. She is super sweet
Dr. Stern is the best professor I have ever had. She truly wants to see her students succeed, and she will help you in any way you need. She cares about every student, and shows this by trying to get every student to get the extra credit points (which are easy so go do them). She makes the complex topics this class covers easy. Best professor ever.
Stern is the GOAT of econ professors at auburn, TAKE HER CLASS
I LOVED this class, and as someone who isn't a business major she really helped me understand what it was she was teaching. The only assignments in the class are the homework and tests, but she will do extra credit if you work problems out and show up on attendance days. Also encouraged students to reach out. Overall really helpful teacher.
I am not a Business major and had Dr. Stern for macro. She teaches by doing practice problems and the homework and tests are basically the same practice problems with different numbers. She posts everything except the practice problems, so as long as you go to class and have the problems, you'll get As on the tests. More math than conceptual, easy.
Only lectures in class, sends out slides. opportunity for entire points on grade extra credit. easy homework and tests if you pay attention. Is very kind and lectures well. The course material is pretty much just simple math. Graded on three exams, homework, and a final. each test and final you get a cheat sheet. VERY easy, you should take her.
She is a great professor!!! Will be taking her again for future classes. Her class is test heavy but she prepares you well for exams with hw and problems we work in class. She is great at explaining and wants you to succeed! Highly recommend.
I really liked her lectures and class. Tests were not very hard and very straight forward if you take notes. She offers some extra credit and there are homework assignments after each lecture is finished. Overall, I really liked this class and she is a super good teacher.
As someone who was worried about taking Macro after their performance with Micro, Dr. Stern helped make the class both easy and enjoyable. Go to class, take good notes, study homework + in-class problems and you'll be fine. Allows a notecard with any notes/equations for each test and questions are very similar to HW and in-class examples. Take her!
She was the BEST. Her exams were not extremely hard and you're allowed an index card of information on the exam. She assigns homework after each lecture which is not difficult as long as you pay attention. If you go to the lectures and take notes you will do very well I'm the class. She's also incredibly caring and very kind, a really good person!
Having Dr. Stern over other profs was the difference in an entire letter grade for me. If you find business classes challenging: she is a MUST take. Sow up to class, put in the effort, and you will earn an easy A. One of the best econ profs here.
I love Dr. Stern and really hope to take her again in the future! Homework was easy, but helpful in ensuring comprehension of the unit's material. Tests (4) were all multiple choice and pretty easy as long as you go to the lectures. She also offers up to 5 points of extra credit for in class participation and occasionally attendance.
She is a great professor! Attendance isn't mandatory, but go to lectures because you can get bonus points and she explains the material very well. She also gives you your test back if you want and will go over what you got wrong with you! She's a very kind person too! Take her if you can! I loved having her as my professor!!!
Personally not good at Economics, but she's a good professor. She adds a bit too much fluff on her written examples though.
DO NOT miss a homework assignment in this class. It completely tanks your grade
Will take her for every class I can. She is awesome and knows how to teach. Class is interactive where you can do problems in front of the class and get a whole point added to your final grade, this goes up to 5 points. Only 2 exams in the class and the final is 35% but she sets you up for the exams so you should be fine. Best econ prof at Auburn
This course is okay, I did well, but I don't feel like I took much away from it. Dr. Stern says she cares a lot about making sure we understand the theory and intuition, but spends most of the time on the math. I think this is common across the Econ discipline, but without a good balance of math and intuition there was much to be desired.
Decent amount of homework, but very easy. Lectures are super helpful for the tests. Homeworks are also a great study source for tests. As long as you understand the material, it is really easy but it takes some effort. Harder than microeconomics in my opinion.
TAKE PROFESSOR STERN! The lectures are helpful and you can earn bonus points. Tophat homework's are similar and sometimes the same as the test. The final is comprehensive but she gives you an opportunity to do the AUEvaluate and if enough people do it the questions for the final are exactly the same as the earlier test.
Liliana is so sweet! She genuinely cares about her students. Tests are 30 Q's multiple choice and the in-person final, while cumulative, can be up to 80% repeat test questions depending on how many people fill out the AUEvaluate. 5 possible extra credit points for attendance or doing problems in-class. You get 4? Your 86 is a 90. Take her!
