Loved this class. The teacher was very helpful and and clear about what was required. The homework was very easy and she took questions in class about it. Go to class and pay attention and ASL with her is so easy. She is the reason I decided to do something with ASL as my major
I really enjoyed this class. The teacher made class really fun. I would suggest that if you have the chance to take her.
Glad i took this course over my spring term, the class was fun, challenging, and at the same time very settle. Overall Lily's a great teacher, she knows what shes teaching and how to teach it. Go to class and see for yourself, and she loves her asians.
Lilly Miller is an amazing teacher. I came in as a completley different major and am now a full ASL interpreting major. I loved Lilly as a teacher and a person she has an amazing personality and really know what she is teaching. She is a teacher who cares about her students and care about her class. Take Lilly and fall in love with the language.
Lily is amazing! She totally changed my opinion of ASL. She is crystal clear and one of the best signers I've met. She helps all her students equally and I never felt like she chose one above another. She made me want to be involved with sign and encouraged my learning.
Lilly is AMAZING at what she does. BEST teacher be far that i have taken whole year. Her class is so easy as long as you come to class and pay attention. homework is super easy as well. she helps explain as much as possible, and she is jsut a fun person to learn from. I def. recommend her to everyone.
Lilly Miller is an incredible teacher. She has a gift to teach those who want to learn, even those who don't want to learn will pick up something. She takes the necessary time with all her students and truly cares for their success. Her energy accentuates the lessons. You will not regret taking her!!
She's the BEST....!Take her, take her, take her!
Lilly is great! Her class is clear, easy, and fun. She gives you all the info you need for tests online so you dont have to take notes. It is essential to attend class since ASL is a visual language but Lilly generally keeps things light and jokes around with you. If your willing to put some effort into learning you wont regret her class. Take her!
She's cool and very knowledgeable in the subject. She makes the class fun. I just took it for the language credit but now im thinking about doing something more with it. if you need a language or even just an elective i would recommend taking asl with lilly :)
Lilly is simply an awsome prof. very helpful this is not an easy subject to master you MUST be in class to understand the topic it is a new language you are learning so it does require effort Lilly will give you all the help you need she is a true pleasure for a prof and she is also very easy on the eyes.
Lilly is simply amazing. As long as you participate, show up, and pay attention you should have no problem getting an A or a B in this class. If you're having trouble picking up the language just ask her for help. She's a really great professor.
Mrs. Miller is a wounderful teacher...make sure she has her soda though(lol).Material is soso but she makes it interesting and fun and encourages you to participate with others taking asl. follows the material to a T so pay attention and take notes. She likes to have fun but at the same time is serious about her job.
Prof Miller is outstanding and lovable. She likes to joke around and the same time takes teaching seriously. She is young and therefore tend to lean to the younger generation. It is a class that one must attend or you will fall behind. There is an exit exam that one must pass in order to pass the class.
Lilly made the class extremely fun, entertaining, and easy. The material can be difficult, as any can be, but she is very clear and helpful with the material. She is very laid back with students and will work at their pace; she does not, however, tolerate disrespect. Homework is done on a DVD and tests are on a prerecorded video. Take her!
I felt the same frustration as a deaf person, when I was not able to somewhat communicate with them.. This class for me was beyond challenging. Too much material too soon. Nothing personal towards professor. It seemed though, that the english speaking only students did fine. Good class for students who dont work n live with parents. Time consum
She's ONE of the best professor.
One of the best ASL professors I could have asked for. So knowledgeable, so kind and so helpful. She knows what she's talking about. She is willing to go the extra mile to help and made ASL something I wanted to do as a career.
Lilly is the best. Her class is easy and fun. She is young, so she understands her students and she's the sweetest. I wish she taught ASL II so i could take her again!
Super sweet. Super funny. Super awesome!! I am switching my major because of her! You won't go wrong with her :)
She is young, nice, and pretty.Very down to earth and helpful in class. Her fingerspelling is too fast for ASLI, but her signs are pretty clear.Definitely recommend her,she drops lowest test and you MUST buy book.Book and its CD I'd rate a 2.There are way better to choose from-even if they are older.
She is AHMAZING ! Very sweet & funny. never a dull momment in Class. Often allows us to leave early if all that is needed to be done, is done. I love love love love love her !!! Teaches ASLI & ASLII as of now because shes new, but you would never know.
Awesome teacher, I loved he class!
Lilly was an awesome professor! She definitely knew what she was doing and was very helpful if we ever had any questions. Not to mention she has a funny and young personality which made the class entertaining and relaxed. Definitely recommend her!
Amazing teacher! So fun and energetic! Really helpful, and makes the class fun to go to. If your not doing ASL as a major, after the course you come to consider it. Makes the course addictive. You'll be signing all the time after her class. Never a dull moment!
Great professor for Interpretation 1 course. She's very sweet and lenient towards students. Understands students goals and needs. She's very down to earth and easy to reach out to!
Lilly is amazing! The test is exactly the information given from the notes that she gives you! & she has videos of her doing the vocab online you can go back to if you need to brush up! she is such a nice lady & so funny! TAKE HER!
Lilly is awesome. She is so funny and really fun to be around. I really liked her class. The assignments were really easy, but the assessments were hard. Don't miss an assignment. Assignments really do prepare you for the tests in this class. She was really helpful and gave great feedback.
At first I was a little intimidated by Lilly because sometimes she looks a little serious. But Lilly is an amazing, down to earth professor. She offers the most supportive, constructive criticism. Do your homework because it is big part of your grade!!
Professor is fun, energetic, helpful, and makes learning ASL 1 fun. There are many vocabulary words to learn so keep up as you go along. Professor Miller is GREAT!!!
This class is the easiest class I have taken at Valencia. Everyone in my class received a B or better. She is very helpful, funny, and pretty good looking too.
Tough but nice; funny but serious about class. Don't miss ANY classes! I am SO glad I looked up professors here before choosing my instructor. This class was HARD, and I made a 103%. Random note: If you buy the textbook used ("Signing Naturally"), be SURE the DVD's are included! You literally can't do ANY homework without them.
Awesome teacher, sarcastic yet funny, she's Young and enjoys what she does. She does not play about cell phones and attendance!!! Other than that, she's a great professor and I'd love to take her again?
Lilly is an amazing professor. She is so helpful and makes it enjoyable to sit in class for over an hour and fifteen minutes. Going to every class is important. If you immerse yourself in the class you will learn a lot.
Lilly is by far, the best professor I have had to date! She is hilarious and makes learning a new language fun. She doesn't just teach Sign Language, she also teaches you Deaf culture. She is passionate about her work, which makes it all the more fun. Definitely recommend her!
Lilly is plane Amazing!! You have to take her if you are just entering the ASL world. She teaches in the best and simplest way possible and if you are ever confused in anything she gives you the dates for tutoring. I shall say she is a very beautiful lady hahaha She will make the class very fun to be in.
Lilly is really great at teaching ASL. As long as you practice and come to class it should be simple. The hardest part is the grammar but if you come to class, participate, and review the notes and vocab you will be fine. Don't forget to do the deaf event assignment. I had an A all semester until I forgot to do that.
Just do the work and you will pass.
Mrs. Miller is the best professsor I have ever had! She is very kind and caring and loves to help her students in anyway she can! She is more than qualified to teach any sign language class. Only 5 homework assignments the whole semester and you have more than enough time to complete them! Tests are very easy if you come to class and pay attention.
LilMil is a really great professor, Ive had her for almost all of my interpreting classes and the only thing I would recommend to you is to show up to EVERY class, she had suggested I withdraw from one of her classes last semester because I had 3 absences and it brought my grade down from SIGNIFICANTLY. Shes very enjoyable
She gives feedback, I felt supported for a brief time. This class has been a tough class and she is a tough grader, along with being demanding in what she expects. She knows her skill well and expects her students to strive to be a good interpreter.
One on ones shes really good. Shes more personable and gives great feedback, I felt supported but in class she is much more stern. This class has been a tough class and she is a tough grader, along with being demanding in what she expects. She knows her skill well and expects her students to strive to be a good interpreter.
There's a book you have to read all semester and you take 1-2 quizzes a week on each chapter. Not the best class, but not the worst. She did curve some quiz grades and I managed to finish with an A. If you really really want to learn sign language, don't take this class. If you just want an easy grade and take it for requirement then sure.
Lilly has been my favorite professor throughout my entire college experience so far! She's passionate, funny, knowledgeable on the language and really helpful to help students succeed.
Best professor hands down. She cares for students and don't let nobody tell you different. Please do yourself a favor and take her. She is blessing love her
Lilly is one of my favorite professors throughout the interpreting program. She grades tough but it really helps if you listen to her feedback and use it. She is a great professor and very caring.
worst grader ever. the exams are so badly worded and often misspelled. you have to do 4 papers for this class which was unexpected. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS, you will save yourself stress.
Took this class a few semesters ago and was my worst grade at valencia. The papers are graded so hard and doesn't give any feedback, really. No one passes the quizzes so she has to curve, but still doesn't help your grade much anyway
Hands down the best teacher I've ever had. I loved going to class because she was so hilarious and made learning ASL easy. I took her ASL 1 class and as long as you show up to class and pay attention you'll pass. Half of the course is taught in ASL so you'll learn fast, but she makes it easy to understand. Loved her!
Professor Millers is great! Show up to class, pay attention and you will pass. She is funny and cares for her students. You do have to practice in class with other people and it may be intimidating at first, but in the end it really helps you remember the material.
Lilly is such a fun professor. She makes you work for your grade but she is always there to help. She does grade hard and expect you to know your material as you should, it is a college course. I would take her again!!! Make sure to learn and focus on knowing you're vocabulary that will help a lot.
She's nice and knows how to do her job. I will admit she's also kind of scary... but that's probably just me. PLEASE do the homework and PRACTICE. ASL is NOT a class you can just have attendance for and forget about it. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. I wish she taught ASL 2, I'd definitely take her class.
I dont recommend taking her class, especially during this pandemic. She doesnt explain/teach the criteria very well. She gives you notes/videos and makes you teach yourself. If you dont learn easily/quickly, DONT take this class. All of her assignments are honorlock. Theres no final if your grade is a 80+. She comes off as rude in her emails.
Course was straight forward in lectures. Everything on exams and presentations were all in lectures. Practice and study you won't have to worry about failing
She is a kind and caring teacher. Lots of assignments and mini-quizzes of sign language spelling. Around 2 groups of work due each week. Notes are allowed on tests but try to memorize material for the video quizzes. NO LATE WORK barely any acceptions. But she does take away low assignment and test grades before submitting final grades.
I actually took her in the 2020 FALL semester but amazing and easy to do class, her videos showing the vocabs is CLEAR, UNDERSTANDING, CRISP. Now if you don't involve the TEXTBOOK you need for the class YOU WILL MISS VOCABS THAT ARE IN THE TEXTBOOK THAT SHE DOESN'T TEACH YOU, probably to keep you on your toes as well which again isn't hard. EASY A
Miller was really cool and supportive. Do the work and you will sail through. The quizzes are created so there is no way to fail. Provided printed notes are allowed on parts of tests. Really loved this class and wish I could take ASL 2 with her.
Ms. Miller is the best teacher I have had at Valencia, she is genuinely so cool and caring. The content itself can be difficult but her vocabulary videos are clear and as long as you try to keep up she is helpful and won't grade too harshly. I also took Intro to Interpreting with her, 10/10 recommend!
TAKE HER. LilMil is amazing! I've never met a more caring/understanding professor and she also teaches very well. She provides lecture notes for each module and all vocab videos are easily accessible. There are 5 module exams all open notes (the lowest score is dropped). This class is NOT an easy A, but as long as you work hard you will pass.
LilMil is the goat, shes super engaging with the class and is genuinely hilarious. I took the mixed mode class so I went to the Valencia campus every monday, but attendance isn't mandatory as everything is accessible online. ASL is a class you NEED to practice and put time aside for to pass this class. It's a class that you have to want to learn in
Professor Miller had a lot of resources posted on each module. The lessons are clear and precise so there's little confusion between concepts/words. As long as you watch the vocab and lesson videos then you should pass. A great professor who teaches well, would take one of her classes again!
Lilly was a fantastic professor, and I'd go as far as to say she is one of the best out there. Not only does she make classes interesting and fun, but the class load was also very light compared to my other classes. Be aware that you do have to learn signs yourself, but the modules were made to make it seamless and easy. Can't recommend her enough.
Lil Mil is amazing! She's hilarious and has a real passion for ASL. I took her for a mixed mode class and the time in class was used to ask questions and review the vocabulary and grammar we learned on our own time. The classwork was straight forward and all you need to do is practice and participate in class to pass. 10/10 would take again.
LilMil is a generous, hilarious, and real teacher. The class is mixed mode, all the lessons are on Canvas (less than 8 minutes each). You WILL do better if you attend class. Class time is dedicated to review and practice, sometimes mini lessons. The workload is overwhelming at first, but if you power through the first week, you will get used to it!
I took ASL online this summer and she was 1 of many professors that were part of my lessons. She is an incredible professor and her signing is very clear and easy to understand. She made the lessons fun, easy and engaging. If I could take her for ASL II -- I absolutely would. Perfect person to teach ASL, in my opinion!
Professor Miller was simply the best! She was super funny and the work was very easy! As long as you're trying you will pass. The syllabus is very straight forward. Professor is always open to hearing any questions and explains it all very well!
The first class she goes all out in signing but I promise it's just to psych you out. After that it's super easy (IF YOU STUDY). There is 20-30 minute vocab/sign videos, then 2 module check ins, 1 receptive work, and 1 test, PER module. The work is fitting for what you do. It's an easy class as long as you try your best to do the work and study! :)
I wanna learn more ASL because of Prof. Miller. I wish she taught ASL II, so I could take her. The lessons were simple, and I often rewatched them repeatedly so I could get the signing right. Overall, the class wasn't hard but learning the signs and memorizing them was time-consuming. But this professor made the course very easy to navigate :) !!
LilMil is energetic and very skilled at ASL. For in-person class, it's definitely a "sink or swim" learning curve! You will be expected to learn 50-100 signs a week for the first few weeks, and for the most part, there's no speaking allowed in class. Make sure you study before going to class or you will be totally lost!
Words fail to articulate how awesome this professor was/is. I attended their course approximately 5 years ago, and not only are they incrediblely well-educated, but also indescribably kind and understanding. 11/10 and would absolutely recommend to anyone with any interest of learning ASL.
As a Deaf Student who graduated from a mainstream high school, I took this class back in Summer 2022. I enjoyed learning her lectures. I was able to notice the differences between SEE and ASL. She has no problem with me fluently in SEE. She made me feel comfortable in her class. I learned a lot about ASL Glossing.
Lilly Miller is a wonderful ASL teacher. She provides good detailed feedback along with not being afraid to call out your mistakes in an effort to push you to be better. At the beginning of every class there is a paper quiz to practice things like finger spelling, numbers, and sentences. Would highly recommend this class.
Lilly is an amazing teacher its mixed mode every module has an exam and it's on honorlock but her videos and vocab videos have all the answers, attendance is MANDATORY she does not care when it comes to that. The attendance will kill your grade does not matter the situation she gives three excused and that is it. That is my only negative about her.
This was an online ASL class and there were videos provided by many of the teachers in the department but Professor Millers were the best. I would definitely take her classes again.
I love Professor Miller, she is so funny and makes coming to class GREAT. I always look forward to her class. Assignments are not hard just make sure you practice your ASL and you will do good. She is always there when you need help understanding, lectures were never boring, and she made class fun. Everyone was always in a good mood in her class.
She's awesome
Oh. My. God. I have never struggled so hard in my entire life. Please if you're gonna take her online just know that you're doing average.. 6-7 assignments a week. Get ready to memorize over 200 signs every 2 weeks. Along with that she uses honorlock and has 5 honorlock exams. No, none of her stuff is on quizlet either.
LilMil was a great teacher to have, this class was by far my favorite because she cared about her students and was active in helping you learn and understand. For the class you have to put in the work, if you go to class and actively participate the class is super easy but if you fall behind and don't its extremely hard to catch up.
She is very nice and funny, all you have to do is make sure you memorize the vocab and you're fine.
This professor is truly amazing and funny. This class is super hands on and communicative so keep that in mind. She also sadly does not accept late work and uses honorlock, but she is still super awesome. You have to come to class on time and can only be absent 3x or else your attendance grade lowers. besides that, I have no complaints :)))
She's so so funny but does SO many tests. You also have to buy sessions on a website for certain assignments (about $90 total but I think financial aid can cover). She's super super strict on attendance, you get 3 free absences and each one after takes 5% from your grade. Leaving early/coming late counts as 1/3 of an absence so just be aware
Great class, great professor. Lowest grade of all weight categories (exams, progress checks, receptive work) are all individually dropped, including one of the 5 section exams. All section exams are honorlock. She's always reachable and willing to help
