Very good teacher. She inspired me to love Algebra. She's very clear, and is very concerned for her students. Unfortunately, she only teaches Probability and Statistics now.
She is a great instructor and I highly recommended her. Her tests seem hard but are fair, all you have to do is study. Her class lectures are filled with pleanty of information to do well along with extra office hours. She writes a lot so take notes!
Great teacher. Very clear lectures and notes. Take down everything and you will be fine.
If you want to learn, take her. Shes always really willing to help her students. She writes down everything on the board so it is really helpful. Unfortunately, her tests are really hard, but she grade the class by the curve. i really recommend this class. She is a great teacher. Best Stats teacher in city!
She is the best MATH teacher I've ever had. She loves teaching,so she is very helphull and understanding. Exams are not difficult. Her explanation is very clearly.I recommend you to take her.
I agree that she is clear in her explanations. But she is biased and sees some things in "traditional way." Her tests are all right though I believe that it is hard to complete it on time ( you have only 45 min) because she starts a test five minutes later unless you can write very fast.
She is the best teacher I have ever met. She's detail oriented and very patient to help students understand every step. Also, she will give extra credits for tests and examinations to help you get higher grade. She has passion to teach and is compassionate. If you are struggling with Math. She's the best for you.
test are very tricky and difficult!!! her lecture is okay and sometime she made some mistakes when it comes to her result-which is confusing. she makes math80 sound complicated and uninteresting-not very motivate when it comes to her students, very intimidating!!!
great teacher. One of the very few professors who puts effort into helping their students. i say the best stats professor at city.
PLEASE NOTE: being a nice person DOESNT make you a good teacher!!! i think thats the delusion here. yes, she's nice. but she is very bland and doesnt know how to explain things other than in the only way she knows (so for those who have different learn styles, kiss this class good bye!). do not take her if you hate math, you will only hate it more.
she does not follow the examples on the book. she teaches on her own way. she so hard to understand. the lectures are your only guide. she gives a lot of examples in the class but they are the opposite of the test examples. tests are so so so hard. dont take this calss if you dont have a private tutor or prior statistics knowledge.
Tests are very tricky and there is not enough time to finish. Examples given in class and homework questions are completely different. One test question can have multiple parts, if you don't understand the first one, you cannot finish the rest. You will not know what kind of questions to expect - you will either know it or you won't.
Speaks slow, spells out topics on board, and defines all termonology, lots of examples used, moderate work assigned. Tests however are DIFFICULT and TRICKY so know your role or plummit!
First of all, I can't STAND the way she speaks! She presents the topic then does examples for the rest of the class. She is very boring. Tests are tricky. I wouldn't recommend taking her if you have a hard time learning because how the teachers speak.
Ms lum is a nice lady, gives a lot of examples during the class, you can bring a card during the test, however, her test is pretty hard ,and too much problems, only if you know the problems very much unless you don't have enough time to finish, her statistics class is pretty hard. You need to work very hard.
she is the best teacher. shes nice n clear/concise. This subject is hard but she will help you understand it better. She will allow a small note card on test and she will give us hw, but is not collected n quizzes in class. I think she was such a good teacher that on first day of school, 80 students try to add the class N she let me postpone 1 exam
Ms. Lum is a wonderful teacher! You can tell she really cares and really wants you to succeed. She is gracious and kind and will always help you if you ask. As with ANY math class, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. And get help if you don't understand! Her tests are not easy, but they are doable if you really apply yourself.
If you're a dedicated student, Ms Lum is the perfect professor! She is incredibly nice and approachable. She honestly cares about her students, and makes every effort to help everyone do well. Her tests are challenging but very fair, and her lectures are very clear and easy to follow. One of the best math professors I've had-- highly recommended!!
I love Ms. Lum! She is incredibly nice which makes her really approachable. She wants you to succeed and she tries to make the material as easy as possible. You are also allowed a small note card and the lowest test score is dropped if you do all of your homework. No regrets taking her!
Prof. Lum is soo sweet and she truly is knowledgeable on calculus. The class itself is difficult but Prof. Lum walks through each step in great detail.
Very easy class. Material is not hard! Go to class, copy her notes***, do HW, do practice exams and you wil get an A. She lets you bring note cards to write all the formulas. Just email her any questions or go to her office hours. She also gives extra credit and curves a little. 85 =A
Don't get fooled by all the smiling faces. Ms.Lum is hard. This is not a easy class. You have to work very hard to do well in this class. If you have no pass history with statistic I don't think you should take this class. Her test are really hard. She puts the hardest problems on the test.If you don't want to work hard don't take this class.
Puts the hardest questions on the tests, she does not go over homework nor does she go over practice exams in class even if you ask her -_- Test are extremely long and she thinks her class structure is absolutely perfect--refuses to accommodate for what the class needs...gives very few examples in class...not motivating at all...bland...unclear...
If only there was another professor that taught math 100b... if i could do it over again i would totally take the 110a/b sequence just to avoid her........ unclear, unhelpful, unwilling to compromise, un-motivating... do not ever want to take her class ever again, gives too little examples..badbad bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Professor Lum is fantastic. She is a challenging professor with high expectations, but she is truly dedicated to helping her students succeed. She could not be sweeter, nor more willing to help. She is clear and patient. To the last 3 comments that said she was hard... really? these are college level classes that prepare you for the next level!
I LOVE MS. LUM! she expects a lot from a student! lecture are not too straight forward but go to office hour for farther explanations! u really have to spend time on the material if u want an A. i don see why people hating on her just because they cant get what they want. it's totally POSSIBLE to get an A from Ms. Lum if u work hard!
she is great, very helpful. dont believe other ratings, she really is great and no i didnt get an A in her class. her tests are hard but if u realy studied enough, u will pass the test. she also gives bonus questions and extra credit assignments. you have to work hard beacuse its CALCULUS!!!! its not her fault if calculus is hard and boring!!
Best teacher i've ever met in ccsf. Still missing her lecture now. Students feel her tests are difficult and tricky just because they dont prepared well.I got As in both her 110A and 80, so no problem to get good grade. If you are NOT going to learn nor study hard, i recommend DON'T take her class, otherwise you will upset both you and the teacher!
Ms.Lum is the best teacher I ever met in CCSF as well. She explains very clearly. She has passion and patience on teaching every stuff that you need or want to know. She is perfect. Take the class, join the class, and get an A
She is a good teacher, very nice and all that, but VERY hard. Also, her voice inflection will drive you crazy.
My best professor! She seriously deserves a 6/5 for helpfulness, she's just so awesome. She's the nicest person ever, really encouraging and everything but still not a pushover. You'll learn a lot of trig with her. Look forward to taking calculus with her next semester!
Lily is so sweet and she cares about her students. Her test are HARD, but she is very liberal in her grading. It is a challenging course and you will have to work for an A. I definitely would recommend her, but be ready for a challenge.
She is so kind and so nice. One of the best teachers I ever had at CCSF. Compared to Castro-Gonzalez, she is a god. I had to retake calc cuz castro-gon was terrible but she made everything easy. I hated calculus til i took her. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Don't take her unless you are incredible at Trig and Advanced Algebra. If you're looking for a teacher to REALLY challenge you then she's the one. She's very helpful and nice but beware of her exams...
She is the best math teacher I ever had. The last semester I took algebra with lev and he is horrible. So I came into trig with poor alg skills but lily is just fantastic at making sure everyone is up to speed and understanding the material. It breaks my heart not to see her on the fall schedule I was really hoping to take calc with her.
She's extremely helpful: she'll take her own time to help you constantly. The helpfulness comes from a lot of care and love she has for her students, which makes you like the subject as well as excel in it. Her tests are quite hard, but that is balanced by liberal grading. Still, you must work hard to get and A. HIGHLY recommend.
She is a very eay teacher and easy grader her test are sometimes exactly like the practice test. if everyone didnt do good on a test she would let you do work on it for extra points. all homework is online because she cant grade it everyday if you used the textbook! best math teacher ive had i suggest taking Ms. Lum if your ataking math.
She is the best math teacher I have ever had. She really explain the materials clearly. You will definitely learn everything that you need to learn from her class. The exam is not easy because she really cares about your understanding. However, if you do the practice exam, the exam won't be a problem.
very good teacher explains well test are similar to practice test takes time to explain and help if u need help.
she knows what she is teaching, very nice and really cares about her students.she use online hw
She is really nice to students. She explains everything really well and is very lenient in grading. She is very understanding to what the students need and goals. One of the best math teachers I have had, highly recommended.
She is a really nice person and tries her best for you to learn and succeed. She is very patient in explaining and understanding to our needs. She tries really hard to make us be happy and enjoy her class. The material is not easy in my opinion but fair, if you want to learn I highly recommend her.
Super nice. Gives out lots on worksheets to go over in class. Fair grader. Online homework. Gives out practice tests and goes over them in class.
Super nice. Gives out lots on worksheets to go over in class. Fair grader. Online homework. Gives out practice tests and goes over them in class. Assigns in class assignments almost everyday.
Really nice. Material can be confusing, but she explains it fairly well. Fair on grading. Online homework. Not a lot of tests, but when there is one. It can be pretty hard if you don't know your material.
She's very nice and helpful. She's good and clear at explaining the material in class. I think everybody like her way of teaching math :) Ms. Lum is a wonderful teacher
This is seriously dumbed down statistics! She uses a program called Statway. If you are a science or math major, don't take her! If you want to be a psychologist, don't take her! How are you going to do research if you can't do the math? If you suck at math and just need to transfer to a CSU, this is the class for you.
had lilly as a teacher two semesters in a row. shes very sweet and kind and knows what shes talking about. she can explain the concepts in an okay manner. you have to take notes and work on it on your own as well. but when other classmates ask questions she gives a totally different way to solve the problem. makes it more confusing
Very helpful and clear. Do the homework and you will be prepared for tests. Gives out practice tests days before the actual day. Tests are very reasonable for a Calculus class, no tricks nor problems you haven't encountered.
Lum is a great instructor and makes hard to understand subjects extremely clear. If you hate math like i did, she's definitely the one to take!
Her prep statistics class was pretty easy, and I thought I would never say that about any math class ever... I had no prior knowledge on statistics whatsoever and was terrified to take this class, but I got a B! And that's after missing a lot of classes... Lily is super sweet and helpful. IF YOU HATE MATH TAKE HER!!! :D
Mrs. Lum is the most kind and patient teacher I've encountered in college. She appreciates respectful class behavior and will answer questions if anyone has them. I found she took a nice and slow pace, with plenty of review. She's an insipring teacher who ultimately encouraged me to change my major to Statistics, thanks to her teachings
One of the best math teacher I've ever had. She is very caring and kind and makes the class very relaxing. She also does a lot of examples on the board. Very lenient when comes to grading tests. I did not regret taking her class at all. You'll have a fun time and will learn a lot. TAKE HER!!!
Best math professor I've ever had. I highly recommend that you take her class. She doesn't use a textbook and instead uses online resources, which saves a few hundred dollars. Absolutely crystal clear instruction, and really helps make you understand statistics. I couldn't recommend her more.
Clear on the lecture. Counts hw and uses online hw. She drops your lowest score if you do all your hw. Overall, good teacher.
No textbook, so she provides handouts. Her class was really easy. Homework is both online and some written. Not many tests, and she allows you to bring notes to the tests. She will try to clarify any questions you have. Very sweet
She is committed to her class and expects her students to be too. Required attendance. Don't miss classes. Be prepared for group work and discussion. There is no textbook as she hands out material for each section. Also, there is online homework/reading due most Sunday nights. She curves exams when there is a high discrepancy. NO late work.
A nice teacher. The positive thing is there is no book for this class, instead there are handouts. She will help those who needs help, however she has a tendency to take things personal and it will affect your grade.
She was not very helpful. There were group projects often which made it hard because you had to do others work -_- If you want to pass math I don't recommend taking her.
This class was as easy as calculus gets, very clear lectures, she will answers all the questions you have, very approachable and friendly. Not many tests and she drops one if you do all the homework.
Mrs. Lum is sweatheart. She uses online hw. She gives you the chance to make up your work(including tests, homework, class works) There are 4 tests and one final. Cheat sheet is allowed on each test (also on the final). If you do all of your hw, she will drop the lowest test. Basically, she is the math professor of my dreams!!!Love her!!!
Nice/Great teacher, took her twice and she's willing to help if you're willing to learn. Has her own handout & style of teaching. She tries to make it as easy as possible for you to understand. Highly recommend for all the classes she teaches. No textbooks, late hw or make up. drops your 1 of your lowest test score & hw. Curves grade on 1 test.
She is great, very organized, so are her lectures. If you work hard, you will get what you deserve. Just focus on the tests and you will be fine on final exam. I would GLADLY recommend :)
One of the most supportive professors I've ever had. Class can be challenging but she's there to help/
She's a great teacher, and very helpful. She doesn't use book, online homework only. You would learn a lot from her.
One of THE BEST, if not the best professor/teacher. She answers everyone's questions very thoroughly and makes sure you understand when it comes to solving problems. Not to mention how nice and optimistic she is. Despite being sick some days and having a broken ankle she still taught with lots of enthusiasm. Highly recommend her!
Very nice person. Very sweet. Lots of online homeworks and in class tests. Also carry marks in class participation and points in class credit for exam. But if u missed a class, you will loose marks. You won't know when she is giving in class points. A lot of pressure indeed. There are also midterm and final tests.
The best! She is so nice, organized, and a very great lecturer. Very friendly & helpful outside of class. Allows an index card of notes on exams & a sheet of notes (only the front) on the final. Loved that homework was online. Gives helpful practice tests. Take her!
Ms. Lum is a great teacher and a good person. She is patient. Always explains twice if needed. Her class is interesting and I like that she is very consistent on the board.
By far the best teachers I've ever had! Caring, passionate, patient, and actually cares about you learning MATH. Ms. Lum is a jewel! Easy, but only if you try. I've never been a math person, but after taking her class, I am confident in math and considering taking the next level, although I have completed my math requirement as a Business major.
Ms. Lum is one of the best teachers I had. She uses her handouts that are straightforward. The OLI questions are tricky. I worked with a tutor in LAC to practice and get them right. The tests are not hard if you go over the handout beforehand. She split the project into 3 phases, so it is easier to finish it.
Statistics, by itself, is the hardly understandable subject but Ms. Lum can make it easy for you if you r willing to learn it. If you even are not good in math, take her class, do yr homework, meet her in her office hours, ask any questions even if you think that this is stupid one. Shes very patient and caring about her students who learn math.
Mrs. Lum is one of my favorite teacher in CCSF. Her class is easy and helpful. Keep show up , listen carefully , do online homework on time , you will pass the class. Each test is super easy !!!
IF you don't like lots of homework, don't take her!!! More than that, She gave group project! and other surveys project! I never did that much homework for one singe class!!!
The reviews are deceiving. She takes easy subjects and makes them more difficult. She made me wish I took this class online
She moves a little slow paced, so if you struggle with math/statistics you'll really appreciate her. There is weekly homework, but it's always exactly what we practiced in class, so if you show up and participate everything should come pretty easily. She offers test corrections and other extra credit opportunities. She truly wants you to do well!
Ms. Lum is an amazing teacher, her speed of teaching is slow, slow enough for you to fully understand the whole concept. ask her question if you have any, she's always passionate to answer you and help you. tests and homework are not difficult but many reflection papers to write. take her!
Hard class. I feel that as a teacher, if u assign homework & practice tests, the teacher should go over the homework & practice tests & Prof Lum lacks that. She doesn't offer really any extra credit (only 5 points on the final) even though basically all her students greatly need it. I just wish she offered more help to her students and went slower.
Professor Lum is so caring and thoughtful. She gives a lot of homework before exams but it is for the better and very doable. The group participation is not so bad as everyone else here says. I enjoyed her class and enjoyed her as a professor.
If you struggle with math, do not take her class. She would go through the lectures too quickly, and many of us struggling with the subject would ask questions or for help, and she would roll her eyes and get annoyed at us for asking for help. I've never had a professor be so unwilling to help her students succeed in class.
One of the best professors ever, def 3 standard deviations right of the mean! Stats is an inherently difficult subject, but she teaches the material at a comfortable pace to make sure most things are covered well. Lots of hw & group work, but allows cheat index cards for tests, and grades on a curve. You won't find a better stats teacher at CCSF.
Prof. Lum is a true gem of a teacher. Caring, flexible, and available to students through many office hours. She wants you to pass her class and offers test corrections to bring up your grade. She explains each concept in multiple ways and is improving her class every semester based on student feedback. I wish she taught every math class I need.
Super caring and understanding! Just attend class, pay attention (don't use your phone!!), do the hw, and participate A! Lectures at a nice pace. If you feel lost, she will gladly help u understand. Weekly hw and a group project. There is a lot of group work so make sure you like the people around you. You can do test corrections too.
Professor Lum is a good teacher if you are a quick learner and on top of your stuff. She teaches the material and assigns an average amount of homework. She is a decent teacher but, if you struggle in math you may struggle in this class.
You can't get a good score, even if you meet her requirements.
So kind and sweet! Very approachable. Took her online due to COVID and she made it very accessible. There's A LOT of homework, however with the large amounts of homework grades it's very possible to fail all 3 test and still pass the class. She notices if you're lazy and don't care about your grade. But if she sees you try, she will cater to you!
Super sweet and very informative, but LOADS OF HOMEWORK. You have to weekly participate in the group discussions and weekly homework. On top of that, you will have to do projects and take tests. Prepare to spend time on her class to pass with a decent grade.
Her teaching style is not for everyone, she basically goes through homework examples during her lectures but doesn't clearly teach or explain well. I am not the best at math so it would take me 3+ hours to figure out and do her homework each time, and there is A LOT. Though, if you dedicate time to the work and fail the tests, you'll pass.
Took her calculus 1 class over the summer. Lectures were extremely clear/thorough, & homework load is a little on the heavy side. Really enjoyed her class, you could tell that shes very knowledgeable & passionate about what shes teaching & is also super sweet! Provides really helpful practice tests before exams, and helps when you are confused.
She never gave me 5/5 on the homework that were more than 5 questions long. Sometimes she would not give feedback either. My grade just kept dropping. The test was extremely hard and my test corrections raised my grade 1% after the 8% drop from the test. I asked her for help mid way through the semester and she replied with the grading rubric.
She is a very nice and patient instructor. She helps you solve the problems even though the time is already beyond her office hours. She also offers a helpful assistant to support you. The teacher assistant's teaching style is great too.
Overall, if you paid attention and attended lectures the class was pretty easy. There is also lots of opportunities for extra credit including test corrections. 10/10 would take the class again.
Professor Lum is one of my greatest professors in CCSF. I would take her math classes again in the future if needed. She is supportive, thoughtful, fully experienced to explain whatever your questions are. I love her class's atmosphere due to its friendly environment. Take her class if you need to learn Math.
The professor is nice but she gives a crap ton of work to do. Very tough grader and you'll need to be extremely specific with your answers. 3 big tests throughout the semester, 2 homework assignments and 1 discussion each week. There are also these checkpoints on a learning platform that you must complete so don't forget to do them!
Thank you Professor Lum for an amazing Spring 2021 semester!! I would recommend Professor Lum to other students as she is a professor that truly cares and is willing to help her students understand the material she is teaching, Thank you Professor for your hard work and dedication!!!! Seriously the best math teacher I ever had!
Professor Lum is the kind of teacher you want for every class. If you don't understand a concept, she will go over it again. She is willing to stay after class to answer any questions. This remote class was easy to follow, but I wish more students would have participated beyond just typing in the chat. The assigned projects were the best part.
Professor Lum's class was really great. The Zoom is not mandatory, (though helpful!). Overall, if you just go to the Zoom, you should pass. I absolutely hate math, but Professor Lum made it easy to understand. She is also caring and flexible with deadlines, without her, I probably would have failed. I loved this class and would take it again.
Ms. Lum was an awesome professor. Gave out a-lot of extra credit that gave you 1 point per assignment on test. Absolutely awesome when it comes to explaining things and has a great energy about her. She could be having a bad day and you would never know.
Professor Lum is an amazing and wonderful teacher who is really invested in her student's future. She had office hours and a teacher's assistant, Irina, which helped me tremendously. Some concepts may be challenging if you aren't great with math like me but don't be afraid to ask for help. Also, she does a great job going through each problem.
She is so sweet & caring! She has office hours, a teacher's assistant, and is open to meeting with you to go over problems or questions you may have in regard to homework, quizzes, or tests. Professor Lum takes the time to make sure you are engaged & I enjoyed math more while attending her classes. Also, she offers extra credit!
Ms. Lum's teaching style is one of the reasons I passed the class. She provides in-depth examples, clears up confusion and answers as many questions as possible. There was an incorporation of Python, which I hoped was longer. If possible, I would have her as my teacher for every class I take. An amazing professor is hard to describe in a few words!
Professor Lum is a wonderful teacher! Aside from her being a really kind and approachable person, she teaches the concepts in depth and makes it easy to learn. Extra help is always offered. Important to pay attention and attend to stay on track but she makes it easy to want to go. Would recommend!
She's as good as it gets. Not only is she a wonderful teacher, she's an amazing human. She loves what she does and puts a great deal of effort into making sure the entire course is cohesive, robust, and easily digestible. Very approachable, she stays 1 or 2+ hrs after class to help with problems or just hang out. I'm going to miss her a lot :')
Haven't taken a math course in a year or two so going into it I knew I was going to struggle, but Professor Lum made learning math easier than I expected. I didn't end up with the result I hoped for, but that was on me. One of the best professors at CCSF. I definitely learned and relearned a lot. She is an approachable person. Ask questions.
Professor Lum is an exception professor at CCSF. She is caring, compassionate and is invested in all her students success. She cares more about her students learning the material and sharpening their skills. Outstanding Professor!
she is a very nice professor. attendance was not mandatory. No books are required. she always gave enough material in class so recommend not to miss the class. the test is multiple choice as well as some math. Don't worry she gives lots of hints questions for test.
Isn't a bad teacher but I feel like her being nice is a act since seems kinda fake. She will help with work but better professors for math in CC so recommend taking them. Really test heavy be warned and if no show up you grade will be affected. Also forced to work with others in class every lecture in order to get in-class participation points.
Ms. Lum's passion for math and care for her students is contagious! My perspective on math changed because of her teaching style and ample lecture examples. She's accommodating, catering to your needs if *you* also care. As a returning and pilot student, Ms. Lum has so much to offer and remains to be my best/favorite professor I've taken thus far!!
Professor Lum was one of the best professors. I took her Statistics class Fall of 2023, and was extremely welcoming and made Stats very understandable. A light amount of homework (1-2 assignments per week). Have to attend class as a lot of assignments are in class. Allows for up to 15 percent of extra credit on quizzes and exams.
As a person who is scared of math, has ADHD and have a hard time retaining information, to know after finals I may receive a B/C is incredible. She wants you to pass, All you have to do is genuinely try to understand the information and do your best on all of your assignments. I highly recommend this professor! Theres no way you can fail with her!
One of the caring professor on campus. Loves her job, sometimes can get carried away. She would spark your interest in math by giving you a easy grade, but you learn more by doing online homework and understanding comprehensive concepts of Calculus on your own.
Professor Lum has a great teaching style - she provides in-depth examples and is always willing to answer questions. Though the workload is heavy, using resources like Unstuck AI alongside the class materials can really help you succeed. Definitely take her if you need a strong math foundation.
Ms. Lum IS THE BEST! I have never had a better math professor in my life! Best math professor I believe ccsf has to offer. I'm lucky to have the opportunity to take her class! She brings in printed notes that we follow along in class and the homework and practice test are 100 percent related making test less stressful with curves and extra credit!
Ms. Lum was a great professor! She is kind, patient, and genuinely wants her students to succeed. She provided printed handouts for classwork and went through them with us, which was really helpful. She also gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and curves. Would recommend taking MATH80 with her!
Ms. Lum was the best professor I have ever had. She truly just wants you to succeed. There was a lot of extra credit given to us and as long as you put in the work you will succeed. I would take her for every class if I could.
Great prof, very caring, flexible, and easy to reach. I would definitely take a class from her again if I have the opportunity.
I absolutely loved taking classes with Professor Lum. She brought curiosity and a new perspective to math I never had before. Her lectures are really explanatory and her classes are light. She is always willing and available to offer students support and explain topics. Professor Lily Lum inspired me to love numbers. Great Professor & class. Thanks
She's really amazing and very understanding. If you ever get the opportunity to take her class I would highly recommend it. She gives out all the notes and does it together as a class, she also assigns group work every day which is nice since it means she doesn't assign homework. Her class is really enjoyable. A tough subject but a great teacher!
She is awesome!
Lily is an amazing professor who navigates her lectures with an immense amount of care. She's honestly the best professor I've had here. Her class is mainly group work. You won't need to bring much to class just a device for google sheets and a pen. She gives everything else out and prints all of the documents she uses. I loved having her
loved her she's great
Professor Lum is a great teacher. Hardly any homework, since the hw is in class groupwork that she goes over with you. Test are every several chapters and are curved and you can bring a cheat sheet. There is also test corrections during office hours or at STAR labs. Overall great teacher and is very approachable and kind.
Professor Lum was absolutely fantastic, one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She appreciates your intelligence and will challenge you, but will not leave anyone behind and goes out of her way to make sure people pass her class.
she is a good teacher. Her teaching method is easy to remember.
She's an amazing professor, although her tests are kind of hard they're not hard if you study. She explains clearly in her lectures what the subjects are and she gives practice tests that are ACCURATE to what we get on the actual tests. Sometimes I procrastinated studying but only the practice test and passed. Amazing professor highly recommend.
Lily is as caring, supportive, and kind a professor as you could ever hope for. She truly wants students to be successful and gives ample opportunities for extra credit, test corrections, and late submittals. Attendance matters, so be sure to show up and participate. If you try your hardest and are engaged, you can be successful in her class!
Lily Lum is a great prof, I struggle with math but loved her class!! Just show up and try your best to learn, and you will get an A. She is so sweet and supportive, and really cares that you are able to actually understand the material. Lots of extra credit opportunities, clear and helpful lectures, and fun projects. Helped my math anxiety so much.
Best Math teacher I've had in a while. She really cares about her students and is very accommodating to them. She curves all tests and tells you what to expect on tests. She makes math fun and her lectures are understandable and clear. I wish I could retake her for Calc2
She is very helpful with the assignments. Teaching is excellent both in person and online. In Canvas she provides step by step videos that clearly show how to solve equations. She is responsive when you email her on Canvas for help. She is sweet and truly cares about her students. Her tests reflect what she teaches. Notes can be used for test.
I really recommend ALL classes that she teaches! She gives extra credit, practice tests (that accurately reflect the actual test), and is overall a really great teacher! There is lots of homework, but she gives you a lot of time to complete it. Would take her again, probably the best teacher I've had at city college.
Such an amazing professor. I'll never forget her patience and kindness while I grieved my grandmother.
