her accent is horrible, she can't answer simple questions, expects you to memorize EVERYTHING in the book, class notes don't help b/c they're straight from the text-& she won't even post the notes on the web for us! Sitting there trying to write as fast as you can AND understand what the HELL she is teaching is not my idea of a good professor.

This professor is so completely incompetent and pathetic. I am a straight A student and I am suffering so badly in her class. She is a disgrace to SJU! DON'T TAKE HER! RUN AWAY!

I dont know what these students are talking about, so far the course is great!!! Of course I only came 4 times to class. But when I was there I did learn lots, I learned that there were 371 tiles on the ceiling. dont take the class, she is obscenely unqualified!

Some lecture slides do not really have any information on it. Also, she will breeze through the lecture slides if she is running out of time. Her tests are somewhat difficult, especially with the fill in the blanks with very specific details.

I honestly have not come across a worse teacher/professor in my life. She is difficult to understand during lecture, gives pop quizzes at the beginning almost every class and expected us to memorize the textbook. Her slides weren't much help and she was extremely rude when I visited her during her office hours.

SHE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER! quiz every class, tests are pretty tough, if she's running out of time she skips over 20 slides but expects you to know them. She doesn't like it when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the class but she goes. ALWAYS ASKS FOR KEY WORDS like every 5 min and says "talk to your partner".

Gives us pop quizzes nearly every single class. Will tell us X will be the pop quiz and then she'll ask Y instead. Collects homework at random times w/o giving us any due dates. Skips lots of material and expects us to teach ourselves. Barely any test questions are covered in class. Very condescending & hates when her class doesn't talk to her.

Update: we took a 100 question test with 10 fill ins of random facts she rambles about in class. And she made the fill ins count as 30% of the grade. In the first exam which was about 50 questions the 10 fill ins counted as 50%. GOOD LUCK!

Her test are not fair and when you complain to her she doesn't listen. will just blame everything on you and say you don't study enough. she says her fill in question on the exam are topics she went over in class and NO THEY WERE NOT. 100 mc and 6 fill in with multiple blanks per fill in question worth 32% of test grade.

Lin Mantell was absolutely the worst professor I have had in my life. All she does is talk about herself or the "big pictures" of things meanwhile her tests are so specific with fill in the blanks that are worth practically your whole grade. Class always start with condescending rants and complaints that we arent awake enough. The buddy system is pointless since we are all confused whenever she asks her questions. A group project with 9 other people and we were limited to 15 minutes which caused some groups to be cut off. Final exam was cumulative which was hell. DO NOT TAKE HER.

Even if I excused her for not answering any emails and missing tons of questions during class due to tech difficulties, she's still an unsuitable teacher. She runs through 100+ slides in less than an hour and goes on political rants. She gives 30 seconds for quizzes. I don't know how I got an A-.

You will not have any idea about your grade until it shows up on your transcript because she never grades anything and always says email me but never replies. GPA will drop heavily and tests are so difficult with pop quizzes and homework each chapter.

if you have a 4.0 GPA and think you will keep it up with her class, think not. her lectures don't teach anything her grading system is all over the place, she doesn't give you your final grade until the last days of classes. Very difficult to follow any sort of material and class grades, which is the reason why it was challenging. However, there's a huge curve; and I highly suggest the following; don't miss class, participate (for extra credit), and for the final exam study from previous exams. Don't get overwhelmed with other reviews; trust me you can get an A!

Took the first midterm for A&P 1 today, class average was a 56 even when most of the pharmacy students studied hard. Some content in the midterm was not even covered in the slides, textbook, or lectures.

The class is treated like a class out of late medical school. It is designed so that unless you memorize the entire textbook, passing is very difficult. professor skips parts of the lectures and then includes the skipped parts in the exams. The class lacks structure.

Honestly, it just does not feel fair. I feel like I am studying for this class in a 4-1 ratio compared to all of my other classes, and it makes no difference on my grade. The amount of stress I feel just from this class is ten times more than all my other classes combined. She is a good person, but really, I would not recommend this class.

Professor Mantell does not give a clear rubric regarding how grades are set up. We have had multiple quizzes and HWs but she still has yet to grade them. Class averages for her exams are always poor because students are lost. Professor also heavily relies on YT videos to teach her lectures... I might as well teach myself at that point.

Blatantly made it clear that you are expected to do terribly in her class. Threatened people who got 100 on her tests with an "investigation" even though the class average is already awful enough. Maybe it's cause prof. incessantly yaps instead of going over the actual content, and ends up skipping everything that actually shows up on the tests.

She's absolutely horrendous. She skips over a large amount of the important slides and leaves us to teach ourselves. You might as well not study or pay attention because most of what she talks about is not on the tests. Does not grade anything and assigns A TON of homework that takes hours to complete.
