All I gotta say is get ready to read read and read, she assigns reading from the book plus give out a thick packet of articles, all we did in class was get into groups which are a waste of time, and the exams are hard, 3 essays.
The groups are helpful but her lectures are boring. Prepare to read. SHe is an alright philosophy teacher, but there are easier and better professors you should take

Dr. Gupta is an good teacher for such a difficult subject to teach (philosophy). She could have better listening skills. She has an overall pleasant demeanor. Some say her essays are hard, but they are nothing comapred to her quizzes.
bad bad bad

Come on she's a joke. Her class is a joke. Complete waste of time and a big hit to your GPA.
Shes unclear, shes always moody. Not a fun teacher to take

She is not very effective as an instructor, not to mention the fact that she is extremely rude and condescending. She mentioned at one point the fact that she had a doctorate, well that doctorate definitely does not qualify her to be an instructor.
Not only is she boring, if you do decide to listen her lectures are unclear, useless, and she refuses to listen to your questions or comments. I regret taking her class, it was a big waste of time.
She doesn't teach very well. Lectures are hard to follow. Not a good teacher to take for such a difficult subject. Doesn't answer questions effectively either. Don't recommend taking this teacher.
If you value you GPA, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! In a class of about 40 only like 3 people got grades above a C. Not understandable; thick Indian accent! She can't lecture, doesn't answer questions effectively, and her tests and quizzes will kick your A$$.
She is a bad teacher. She talks more about other things outside of the subject in class than outside the class. She needs to be more clear. She talks to silently.
Okay ijust got done taking her philo class in spring. she is one of the worst teachers i've ever had in my LIFE! she rants more about grading in the class than information she should be giving us about religion. aweful lectures always goes off subject.
avoid her. she is crazy. hard tests, not undrestandable, not clear, goes off subject. moody and rude. she even lied to us about being the chair of the department which she wasnt. in early morning classes she is always late. really hard grader.
SHe is so unfair and unclear. She lets people who get D's and F's re-take their test while people who get C's and B's dont. Unfair turnout at the end when people who got only F's get an A for the sem. As you can see i wasn't one of them. SOOOO UNFAIR!
She was difficult to understand, often incomprehensible. Couldn't answer questions. Her grading was awful. How she is still teaching is beyond me; when I start teaching I'm going after her job.
If you want to receive an F than take her class. I have never experienced a professor like her. She makes the class feel inferior and not to mention you will not learn anything in her class.
Ok she is not as bad as everyone thinks. Most of the college students do not think critically, and subject such as philosophy requires different attitude of learning than you would in other academics. I had her during summer, and got a good grade. Study!
Okay kids!!! She is a bad teacher and she is also boring and anoying. She talks more about other things outside of the subject in class than outside the class. I’m taking her class right now Pilo 101 and it is very hard; not understandable. I regret taking her class. DO NOT TAKE HER
NO, NO, NO....
everytime i go in there i think about killing myself because she is so boring. isnt really well prepared for the class. borrows my book for lectures because she is an idiot for forgetting hers. You can tkae the class without her if you just read out of the damn book. just no.
OMG.. this lady doesnot know anything about phil. she talks and talks and talks.. shes soo boring and unclear.. doesnt know how to clarify questions.i didnt learn anything. trust me.. stay AWAY from her..or take a pillow to her class..
Everything everyone says is true. Worst teacher I have ever encountered.
horrible teacher. terrible teaching skills--or lack thereof. enough said.
Worst teacher I ever had in my 7 years of college and a masters degree. She allowed students to cheat on tests and when I asked her what I did wrong on an exam she said I should figure it out myself. Ask her about her niece and you'll get an "A". NEVER take her!!!!
She talks about nothing that has to do with the subject and is very unclear about her lectures and notes. She is not helpful at all when you try to approach her. She is boring~ She should not be teaching at all!!! DO NOT TAKE HER~!
In spite of all the gossip about Dr. Gupta that have been around in the GCC student circles, I should honestly declare that she is one of the very finest professionals in the field of Philosophy. She challenges the student unlike other YOUNGER instructors at GCC as the inexperienced Bie.
Shes not really like a bad teacher, but she has a horrible teaching style, she doesnt really explain anything clearly. Most of the time she went off the subject with stories about her daugther. I would recommend taking Randal Parker instead.
She's one of the two worst professors I've had at GCC. She, literally, CAN NOT teach. She's terrible about giving clear and concise reasons as to what's wrong with your in-class essays. She's ridiculous; an insult to the profession of teaching. I received a decent grade, 'B', but I know many didn't.
Awful professor. Borderline verbally abusive to her students. Does not teach or explain anything. Is always late to class and then keeps classes late. Her tests are OK (hard but still manageable) however I would not encourage anyone to take her due to her rudeness and lack of teaching skills.
It's not a question she of being a hard teacher, it's a question of she not being able to teach at all. She looses homeworks, is unorganized, late to class everyday, and gives you 8 different questions to study from which she will choose 1 during the test day to write on. A horrible human being. Disrespectful to students.
My ability to comprehend and follow directions are, in the opinion of others, excellent. But when she lectures... i'm so lost...
This teacher has to be among the worst I've ever had. She is very unclear, condescending, and lacks basic human decency for her students. She didn't show up to her office hour and fought with me in class about an essay, after I suggested I should meet with her in her office. Also NEVER told me what she wanted or how to improve.

I was very disappointed with this class. Dr. Gupta is consistently late. She is disorganized and gets extremely defensive in discussion. She easily goes off topic and seems to be lazy in the way she teaches. She does not stay on schedule nor does she thoroughly explain what she expects from her students. This class was very disappointing to me.
I dont really know about the way she teaches because i am LOST during all her lectures but i do know that professors can not talk about their family problems all the time and use them as an excuse to come late, lose homework and miss the final day.
Is there a way we can petition for her to lose her teaching license.... Damn this teacher sucks. Abortion this.... My Neice that my god someone shoot me!!!! I dont know how shes been teaching as long as she has shes worthless
The worst teacher I've had at GCC. Her tests were difficult & did not pertain to the lectures. It was a waste of my time going to her lectures. Philosophy is an abstract subject & needs a good teacher to make it comprehensible & she's not the one to do it.
She has a wacked grading system. Boring as hell. Her lectures and reading are pretty pointless. Have never seen her smile. Looks like she might care about you, but really she doesn't. Needs to keep personal problems to herself.
sooooo boring. I was really disappointed because I was interested in the subject, but I didnt learn anything. She is a nice person but a really bad teacher and she gives a lot of homework and there is a quiz every week sometimes twice a week. All the tests are essay form. It was a drag.
avoid if possible
Don't get her unless you're planning on learning everything yourself - if you are, she's a great teacher because you can just zone out during class and do all the work on your own time. I ended up dropping because she confused me so much.

Ive only had her a few day...she already cancelled a class!! I have no idea whether I have hw and I slept in class due to her story telling. The only reason why I have two 5's is because I like Philosophy...to any future student...dont take her class unless you cant help it.
She is such an terrible teacher that I had to drop half way through the semester--she doesn't explain the material AT ALL and her tests have nothing to do with what she talked about. She also doesn't give appreciation to people who try to share their opinions, she just tells them that they're wrong.
Gupta is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She doesn't do any teaching whatsoever, she simply has us read out of the textbook (Which is a pathetic excuse for a scholastic publication), and then spew it back at her. She goes off on tangents during class that have nothing to do with the topics, and is belligerent to anybody with a different interpretation of a religion even though she lectures us about being openminded. She's already cancelled 1 class and has been late to more than half the classes.
Gupta is the BEST teacher I have ever had. Please do yourself a favor and ignore all the ppl who posted negative comments about her. These ppl are lazy, ignorant and mean. See it for yourself. Don't assume anything. Take her class. She's awesome. She is the most perfect teacher ever. She knows so much about the subject it just amazes me. SheRocks
arrogant, condescending, self-centered, late every day, unhelpful, unfriendly..i would never take another classes, whcih is sad because i love school and love philosophy
simply the worst teacher i have ever had. Cant understand her and the text is impossible to understand. Sad excuse for a teacher and really really unpleasant to look at.
i am sure the guy who wrote those nice things about her had a deal with her, or she paid her to write it, she is really bad teacher, i am an A student and no matter how hard i studied my final grade was C, and she even missed the final, she FORGOT,she didt even say she was sorry,do yourself a favor and dovt take her class b/c youll be disappointed
This woman is the worst teacher that I have had yet. She goes off on tangents way too often and at some points when she is teaching, it seems like she doesn't understand the concepts of her teaching. She forgets to give homeworks and assigns us the four that she missed to turn in the day of the final. Terrible communication skills and lecturing.
BAD communication skills. Frequent tangents in lectures. BAD lesson planning. Lack of knowledge of the subject. BAD choice of textbook. Homework / Quizzes / Exams involve regurgitation, not analysis. Expectations / instructions are NOT explicit. No website / online syllabus / schedules / notices. This prof made a great subject an awful experience
Please ignore all negative comments about this amazing professor. Trust me, she's the best. People who say bad things are obviously lazy, demanding, unsatisfied, ready-to-blame-anybody, irresponsible, incapable, and stupid. If you are a hard working student and you are interested in the subject, please take her. You won't regret it. Gupta Rocks!!!!
great teacher, whoever is talking bad about her is for sure a lazy one, or uncapable of studying in a college level, please, do yourselves a great favor by ignoring any negative comments about this professor. This bad comments has to stop, whoever is doing it, please ignor completely.
She is not bad as others profess, it is just up to the student to cope with expectations and to study well. Although I must say I was kind of wondering how she actually grades a paper/essay. Maybe my writing just doesn't fit well to her standards. Anyway, I am contented I got a B, i deserved it, i only did half my best. I can't blame her.
Mumbles and doesn't explain concepts well, then when she grades your test, she nails every one with barely passing grades. Avoid at all costs!
bad bad bad...she talks about her family and dosen't explain well and bad grader..avoid her she is bad news
Self centered, unhelpful, unfriendly, bad communication skills and a BAD grader....She is the worst teacher I have ever had. I love philosophy but she made me hate it...AVOID HER she is bad news.

Im a fair student but this is not a good teacher. She gives bad notes, shes a tough grader, & she makes philosophy really boring...However I will say that if u have an interest in the religions of India (Hinduism, Buddhism, & Sikhism) then u might like her WORLD RELIGION class...But if your thinking about any of her other classes...DONT TAKE IT
Having read all the comments I decided to accept the challenge. Most of the negative comments are undeserved because lots of students seem to have been hoping for a handout grade, rather than hard work. If you are a motivated learner who follows directions then everything will be fine. Just try to read the material, participate, and attend classes.
This is a very bad teacher. She is not faire for grading. She only likes someone who is nice to her in class. Don't take her any class.

worst teacher ever!!!!!!!!
This class should have been fun but it wasnt. She grades like a hs teacher and would rather hear about deatails instead of your insight which actually counts more in a university. She wants you to participate but gives no chance for you to talk in the class.
She is an Amazing Teacher! I earned and worked hard for a B. Students get what they've EARNED! There aren't more positive comments b/c those students don't have the time to come on here b/c they are STUDYING! The only complain i have is that the summer session is too short to earn participation pts. Overall, Ive learned Alot from her Class! STUDY!
she was off with her grading i put in enough effort for a C grade but she failed me
uninteresting class. teacher needs to show more of a personality.
She lost my blue book for one mid term...then she marked me absent for my final when i was there and have proof of it...after she realized she messed up she still failed me because she took half points off my mid term because she said it was late....She's CRAZY!!!
If you're looking for an EASY "A", don't take this class. Gupta gives study guides before tests, homework is straight out of the book, & her discussions make sense if you're doing all your reading. She LOVES class participation. She is one of the best teachers I've had this year. I got a hard-earned "B" in her class, but it feels like an "A".
dr. gupta is def. not as bad as every1 is making her out to be. i took her class, scared outta mymind, because of the comments left here but i earned a "b." her class is work but thats COLLEGE people lol. she assigns hw and has a few quizes and tests but she tells you whats on it. you do have to go to class, though, what a bummer.
Doctor Gupta is a knowledable, thoughtful, intelligent woman who clearly has a lot to share. She is also the most disorganized, forgetful teacher I have ever had. Grading the wrong questions, forgetting her book and then writing in the one she borrowed from a student...a nice lady but a poor teacher.
Definitely do not recommend taking this teacher. She is extremely boring and i had a hard tme staying awake. The key to the class is reading all class material and understanding every concept.Must attend class everyday. Not an easy A and she likes participation. You either hate this class and the teacher or love it. I hated it.BORINGGG>>>>>
Terrible teacher...absolutely horrible and the most boring ever!!! She is very unclear and if SHE screws something up it is always the student's fault.
she CANT speak english well.
I am a consistent A student and struggled to pull off a B in this class. She could not be trying harder to make philosophy any less interesting. There is basically NO class discussion; you read the text to yourselves quietly and then repeat it back to her. that's it. sounds really exciting, doesn't it?
She knows her stuff, but she's super forgetful and disorganized. She's told my class a single story six times (no kidding, I counted). She also doesn't teach the material in any sort of order which makes it that much harder.
YOU WILL NOT PASS THIS CLASS. YOU WILL NOT PASS THIS CLASS. YOU WILL NOT PASS THIS CLASS. .........and if you do. It will be with a low c like me. The teacher is hard. The tests are impossible. Take my advice. The woman is nice but........she will ruin your gpa
Got a solid "A"! I got a "B" in her other class for Philosophy 101 Summer Session! I took the challenge I and I made it through..you won't believe how much more skills Dr. Gupta teaches you. Yes it's hard, but not UC Irvine or upper division hard. Fail this class, forget about getting a B.A. or B.S. is anything. Take her class and show her!
She is a really good teacher and I like how we have group study, it makes you understand the concepts and theories that are taught. The bad part about her is that she doesn't even try to remember her student's names and it is a pretty small class, which is sad. If she cared for her student's she would rememebr their name
Nice lady, but has really bad notes (I mean really bad notes), she gives out study guides that make u memorize so much stuff & yet shes only going to use a portion of the study guide, her lectures can get boring after a while (unless u have an interest, and again, she has terrible notes
R U kidding? you expect good discussion in class? U won't get it. By the book. study on your own! she's okay but about as interesting as watching cement dry.
I was 2 measly points away from an "A", but was not given this because of some slight spelling mistakes in the in-class midterm. She gets joy out of denying people the grade they deserve, especially when it's an "A". She is NOT an asset to the scholarly environment, & does not like students in gen. Yet she is the chair of the phil dep. Go figure!
What a great teacher! Take this class and you'll learn how to think in every aspect of life. Dr. Gupta is very helpful, understanding, and kind. Her tests are exactly what she explains. It's a philosophy class...be open minded! Participate, argue...She may seem hard at first but after a few weeks you'll see that she is not.
Not great, but not horrible. If this class ruins your GPA, you have greater problems. The topics for essay tests were given beforehand straight from the book! I studied for all her quizzes ten minutes before and did well. She gives extra credit hw and quizzes. Her lectures don't really explain things but read the book and you'll be fine.
Great teacher, you'll learn A LOT in this class. She makes the subject very interesting with her personal anecdotes and lectures/stories about life. However, she's can be a bit disorganized and very unclear regarding homework due dates and standards (dates keep changing). Overall, 5/5 teacher, but really** hard A...
If you ever wanted to turn someone off philosophy, forever, enroll them in Gupta's class. She stands up in front of the class, reads directly from the text, babbles and paraphrases for literally over an hour. I don't think i've been more bored in my life.
very easy class must take.
take her now yo wont regret it
Dr Gupta is a great asset to the college. She is Very nice and caring. Her tests are exactly what she says. Just think critically it is a philosophy class after all.She is not bound to a book and tries to teach from actual experiences. Every course that i have had with her has taught me a lot about life. I will take all her classes till i graduate.
Dr. Gupta's class is amazing! you learn so much and she is so helpful. She gives you the questions to the tests before you take them so as long as you study and are prepared you should do fine! You do a lot of group work which is helpful and fun. This class opened my eyes to a whole new way of thinking. take her!
I took Mrs GUptas philosophy 101 class two times and both times she failed me. The first time i understand it was my fault i missed alot of class but second time i wrote the mid terms perfect and she would still fail me. BORING CLASS DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU WANNA STRUGGLE
Most boring professor. She just keeps talking all the time and forgets who participated in the class. knows a lot and makes sure you realize that. Don't expect her to take you seriously if you don't agree with her. Be prepared for bordom.
Dr. Gupta is an amazing teacher. There is no way you can fail her class if you just study the study guides. She gives 8 questions at least a week ahead of tests and then she picks two for you to answer. It cant be easier than this!! Those who complain have problems themselves, this is a fun, interesting, and super easy class.
Very understanding teacher. a "Must have" instructor before you leave GCC.She gives outlines for all the chapters, makes reading easy.Test questions are distributed a week ahead, she gives you the answers she wants you to write when you go over the questions in class. It cannot be easier than this.Go for it!!!
She's a nice lady but the class was a bit dull. I really liked the subject but I would have liked it better if she taught it differently. The class wasnt THAT hard because she gave the essay outlines a week before the exam. If ur writing skills arent good dont take this class because the midterms are ALL essays. She expects them to be well written
The course itself was challenging but I loved it. This is the first b I recieved (I'm sure not the last) but I EARNED it. It was a very humbling experience and I learned so much. It is a class worth taking. Very interesting and relevant but make sure you read your textbook.
this is one of those classes you will learn nothing in class that it is purely the book on the test. she hads out a paper with 4 essay and 4 short answer questions a week before the test. i of the essays and 1 of teh short answers is the test. very easy class, but boring and a must on attendance for hw, cw and quizes.
nice person, HORRIBLE - ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE - teacher. She does not do ANY teaching at all. Class is complete waste of time. 100% of learning is done on your own at home - she teaches ABSOLUTELY nothing in class. YOU have been warned. Tests are straightforward and not too hard if you study.
She is not a good teacher. She doesnt teach the subject at all just reads you the book and spends the rest of class talking about her neice. Maybe if all the tests were on her neice I would have done better. You will struggle in her class. Even if you do what she asks. Do yourself a favor and avoid her.
Very nice Lady, terrible teacher. She told too many of her personal stories, and got off topic. She repeated some of the same stories 2 or 3 times. She didn't return any graded homework, quizes or tests until a few weeks before the semester finished, no feedback was available, limited chance to improve ones grade. Avoid this teacher if you can.
GUPTA IS THE WORST TEACHER YOU WILL EVER TAKE!!!!it is a self taught class she does nothing to help you,all you do is listen to her argue about students talking in class,i never once saw her stand up from her chair even to write on the board. she doesn't make it interesting and you will kill yourself if you take this class...DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
WORST teacher AT GCC!every time you go to class you have to do group discussions which basically means you're classmates are teaching you not the teacher.you won't understand anything.HORRIBLE teacher.she doesn't teach philosophy how you think it would be...there's no talk of the chicken or the egg theory.all you do is read/study theories.AVOID HER
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? I'll never know because all she went over are BS theories that are of no interest to me. Hardest teacher I've had so far and I regret taking her. RateMyProf will be my friend for upcoming teachers (especially Philosophy) since I have to retake it. Thanks for the D!
Worst Teacher ever. I felt like I was still in high school because she would make us put our bags in the front of the class before every quiz or test. I worked VERY hard in her summer session and got a B. Not only would I never take her for any class again but this experience has convinced me to never take another philosophy class again.
Terrible teacher. Absolutely terrible. Unhelpful, lectures are unclear and off tangent. Worse, she disappears from the classroom almost everyday for 15-45 mins. Pretty much it's just the book and the tests, forget about learning anything from her. Might as well not go to class, read the book, and show up for the tests. Waste of money and time
This professor was rude to students, announced to the class when someone received an "F" (included the namne) Wouldn't work with you after class. She believes only in her own voice. Do NOT take this class. Even if there are no options.
Horrible professor...you might as well not take the course because you will be teaching yourself. With such a difficult subject for most people, you'd think they would put a somewhat understanding person to teach the subject matter. She is of no help to anyone and does not clarify anything. Not only that, but she is the Head of the Philosophy Dept!
oooo boiii u cant imagine how tough this class is,,, u really need to be extreeeeemmmmlllyyyy into philosophy to hav fun in her class,,, NO TEACHING, NO FUN, NO MERCY, she jus talks about her famili how special they r, u gonna hav a haaaaard time when u take her class, unless u like to be challenged, but u learn by yourself and not from her
i do not recommend this teacher to anyone. do not except an A, you are lucky if you even pass. all she talks about is how amazing her niece is and how amazing foreign students are and how we are never going to find jobs
THE WORST philosophy professor i have ever come across. Im a philosophy major and i right away i could tell that she didnt know what she was doing. she would brake us up into groups and make us read the book while she sat in her desk and read the book along with us. she didnt even lecture. Sexist-hypocrite is an understatement.
Can't say much about this professor that is good. Pretty much read all of the other negative comments and that is a very fair assessment. Forgetful, not helpful, doesn't teach the subject. No clarity. Really boring and doesn't make the subject interesting or fun. Avoid this teacher and class.
DO NOT! Take this teacher. She grades off her bias & her emotions dictate wether she decides to participate in teaching. She constantly loses students work/ tests! She doesn't give clear instruction & always rants about her personal life! Idk how she is still teaching. She's a horrible teacher. Just look all the pages of comments below.
Likes to ramble about personal life. Can be extremely confusing. Essays are hard because it's not clear what she's looking for. Not easy to get an A. Don't waste your time. Unless you want to be challenged or something, don't take her if you want an A.
Professor Gupta is a great instructor. Her class is not hard at all. Just read the book, pay attention, participate, and ask questions. It's obvious that these comments were made my students who happened to fail her class because they lacked interest or other personal reasons. It all depends on how good of a student one is.
A TERRIBLE TEACHER! I made it a huge point in my life to come to this class on time every week (2 days a week) for the first two months! The teacher was never prepared for class, would go off on stories that never circled back to the topic of philosophy, would say a test or quiz was one day and then push it back! NEVER TAKE HER! She is terrible!
Been at GCC for almost 4 years and never have experienced a teacher like this. Simply, the worst. Never prepared. Learned more about her life stories like her fathers than actually Philosophy. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She abuses her head of philosophy position too much. Its a disgrace how a head of a department can be so lazy.
She's a very sweet woman. Although she tends to get caught up in personal stories a lot, I enjoyed her class. She's not the best instructor but she will help if her help is needed. Her tests consist of well developed essays that tests how well you know the material. And believe me, you need to know it well to pass her class.
where people that failed come and vent. Good students dont have the time to come here and bad mouth this teacher. I am a student that got an A. Which mean that if you do everything I told you, you have nothing to be afraid of. There were days were I slept at 4 am. But Im glad I took her. She was a great instructor and a brilliant philosopher.
just be given to you. Think again. You need to work for it. Education is not a game, so take it seriously and the grade that you deserve will be given to you. She is a hard grader, however by learning the material and thinking critically I guarantee you that you will get an A. This website has become a place
is and honestly by reading these comments I got scared. However, if you want to know the truth take my word for it. Dr. Gupta is one of the sweetest, kind, helpful and nice women I have ever met. I took her class in summer and I got an A. But let me tell you this, if you think that just by coming into class and sitting there that the grade will
Let me begin by saying that all these comments are ridiculous. Just like you I was curious to see how this teacher
this teacher does not care about you. she grades extremely hard and grades very picky. i recommend not taking her because there are way better teachers than her, that you will have a easier time to pass and wont be as bored by her ridiculous stories
You will be teaching yourself philosophy if you take her class. GCC has some great philosophy professors, Gupta is not one of them, stay away and take philosophy with Bie you won't regret it. She may be a nice lady personally, but as a teacher she gets an F. TRUST ME - STAY AWAY from her class if you can.
This class/professor - not easy. She makes it clear from day 1. Take her class and work hard you will pass. Shes a real teacher. so if your not motivated by challenge, you don't have the time/energy for this, don't take it. If you're a philosophy major- this class helps with discipline. I may/may not pass but she's not a bad teacher - just hard one
Well in all fairness I have no idea about how easy or not she is because I only stayed 3 days. However the reason for this is simply because she is poor at conducting a classroom. When she could be teaching she will spend literally 1/3 of class time explaining why people "chit-chatting" stop us from learing. Not her reapeating herself 12 times.
Extremely confusing, she is all over the place, always comes in late. You have to work very hard to get an A and make sure you participate or else your grade goes down. You basically don't even have to show up, only test days read the book and your good. Not recommended,I regret taking this class with her though I will Probably get a B.
We spent the first month of the semester going over chapter one. Then a midterm for that. Then midterms kept piling on top of each other. The SI tutor we had did a much better job of teaching than she did. All exams are also essays. They're not difficult as long as you've done the reading and participated to make sure you understand the content.
DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANNA DO TEN TIMES THE WORK YOU ACTUALLY WOULD HAVE TO DO FOR ANY NORMAL PROFESSOR! SUPER HARD AND I AM A STRAIGHT A STUDENT! Unclear!!!!
She's a sweet woman but when it comes to teaching, she just can't do it. I learned more from the SIs than from her. You're basically on your own in this class. Don't fall behind on the reading and actively participate. She gives you the study guide for every midterm so take advantage of it.
Many may attack her teaching style. One thing is clear, that she really does want the best for her students. She emphasizes that students must study outside of class. This is one of the few classes that require University level studying, but she allows an SI to help as well. Combine the SI, lec, independent time and you will get a deserving grade.
Honestly, I wasn't a fan of her teaching style, and I didn't do very well on her tests...but at the end of the semester, when I totally didn't deserve to pass based on my grades, she passed me based on my class participation and perseverance. Obviously she wants the best for her students. Give her a chance.
Dr. Gupta is very unorganized. Disregard her syllabus completely or better yet recycle it because you won't need it. Nothing is ever according to plan. Her lectures are 70% about her life experiences, 30% review of the material. If you take the class plan on treating the textbook as a bible because it is the only way to a good grade.
Horrible teacher. All over the place with her lectures.
She is obviously wise and caring. However, she is (in my most humble opinion) not very good at teaching students. I would go so far as to say she is bad at what she does. You'll need to attend class because she takes attendance, not because you will miss out on good lectures. Just read on your own and understand the material. You can do well.
Of my two years at GCC, Professor Gupta is the worst teacher I ever had. Her lectures are completely useless and when she does lecture, it's about how to write an essay. She is terrible at timing and very unorganized. The book is difficult to comprehend so you depend on the internet. I would never recommend her.
Horrible teacher. Stay away from her. Has problems with her memory. Essays are super hard. If you want to earn a good grade you have to learn the textbook by heart. Otherwise you will get not higher than C. GCC has to get rid of such kind of professors.
Seemed difficult in the beginning, but got an A. The problem is 18 year olds sign up for this class, and the material is too complicated and grown up. She did a good job teaching the subject. Talked about the Niece once too often though :X overall, a good teacher, definitely .
I got Bs and As and Cs on 10 of my quizzes and decent grades on my midterms. But this lady really was one of the worst professors I have ever had. She did not know how to teach. Had to do everything on my own read the material and if you didnt have everything memorized she would give you a C or a D. Most of the class got F's. Just try to avoid her
Ms.Gupta is a great teacher. Yes,she tends to get off topic but she's a really nice lady. Her stories are very interesting and her exams not too hard. *If you have no REAL interest in the class then don't take it*Its a college class-teachers don't always have to explain in detail the material. You have to learn on your own.Give her a chance people!
Gupta is very unorganized. Misses class often, always late, keeps you late, study guide is given to you and questions will be from there, if youre not good at BSing, this is not the class youll pass in.
A very nice lady, fascinating lecturer; she knows a lot about life & about philosophy. She is very busy, has other things on her mind. Just pay attention, do the required reading & you'll be fine. She wants you to write A LOT & it's a subject (Hinduism, etc.) that most of us don't know a lot about. I liked the class & I liked the professor.
Gupta is quite an insightful woman! It was genuinely a pleasure to be under her instruction. She won't babysit you through class... you need to dedicate time into reading the book and formulating your own thoughts; after-all, that's the fundamental art of philosophy, isn't it? She goes off topic a lot, but pay attention to your OUTLINE.. HINT HINT
Before taking this class I was REALLY excited to learn about philosophy of Religion and then my interest just went downhill. She is very unclear on what she wants on her midterm essays. She very often diverts from the topic of religion to her family. I am sorry to say she is not a very good teacher.
Do not take this class! Phil 101 was torture. Whatever you say is incorrect, even if you try your best you will be lucky to receive a C.
Do not take the class with this teacher! She always drifts off into her own life stories and doesn't teach you anything. Everything is all about what the students teach each other, so it all depends on you. You learn nothing from her. I definitely do NOT recommend her!
don't like the teacher. she's really unclear and really confusing. she needs to be more specific about what she expects and not go off topic every single class.
Gupta is so unorganized, shes all over the place. usually freshmans are forced to take this class since nothing else is available. She never stayed on topic.. the reason she talks about her life so much is so you guys bring in examples of your own and "relate it" to the topics shes teaching. Hardest and worse teacher. EVER.
This "teacher" is the worst Glendale College has to offer. She constantly drifts of topic and tells stories of family members and friends that have just died. Every single class! She tries to preach more then teach, and questions are not allowed! It's not rare that there won't be a single A in the class on an exam!
All I can say is wow, unorganized all over the place and very forgetful. The only thing you have to do to learn in her class is focus all you attention on your txt book, she will talk about family and other topics. This class is about teaching your self, not learning from a teacher
The only C i got was in this class. There's no set curiculum of any sort, and you don't really understand much other than what you read in the book. I wouldn't advise this class to anyone. I really love philosophy but i didn't get that investment back this semester
WITHOUT A DOUBT the worst teacher on campus. If your goal is straight A's, she'll make your life hell. She is probably the most unorganized & outdated person I've ever met. She is always off topic a&nd is very unclear. Her tests are practically impossible to get A's on. I studied a lot for the tests, & I got 2 C's & a D. TRUST ME. DON'T TAKE HER!
Had to teach myself philosophy. Lectures are either paraphrasing from the text or about her family. Prepare to write your essays ahead of time before exams, and participate to get your daily points. Slowest class ever
If you're passionate with the subject you will not be dependent on the teaching capability of a teacher. However, most students are intimidated with this class, so it is paramount to have a competent professor that can guide students through a class that tackles conceptual ideas. With that said, she doesn't have the drive nor the skill to teach.
Contrary to what some others have posted, she is an excellent professor. Her lectures might seem dull only to those who have no interest in philosophy. She gave us a lecture on Kantian ethics that blew me away & made me fall in love with philosophy all together. My enthusiasm was uplifted by her passion & overall kindness towards her students.
I ended up getting an A in this class, but let's just say she's one of those professors that just doesn't want to give As on examsin class. Most of the time there's little to no feedback about your exam grade so ur left with no idea of what you need to improve on, etc. Her lectures are unorganized, go off topic, and the list goes on lol. Avoid!!!
Dr. Gupta is a very sweet lady but her lectures often lack time management. All tests are essay format and it's very difficult to cover 100% of what she's looking for. I got Bs on all exams, was worried I'd get a B overall, but full participation points and near full quiz points got me an A. The final is not cumulative and she gives study guides.
Prof Gupta gets too much unnecessary slack. Yes she can be a hard grader, but she actually does clarify what she wants in the midterm essay. She doesn't baby you for the specifics though. You can logically infer. I personally wrote essay outlines and even essays beforehand (highly recommend). She's a hard grader, but fair & nice. Just work hard.
She is quite a hard grader, you will have to read and read sometimes multiple times to understand for the test. She does give out a study guide, study that a lot if you want to do very well on the midterms. I would say that take this class if you are comfortable with how well you do with studying or take it last before you graduate.
No point in attending class. All the learning you get is from personal reading. Dont take class! By far the most difficult professor I have taken in my life. Test is purely based on intense memorization (detail for detail) on a lot of theories and writings. The studying required makes studying for Calc 2 looks like a walk in the park.
This class was an absolute nightmare. Professor Gupta is the queen of asking for one thing when she wants another. She never clarifies what she wants, she is very unorganized, and she leaves you with more questions than answers. The essays are a waste of time unless you LITERALLY memorized the entire book, word for word. Would not recommend.
Dont take her you have to memorize to pass the class if your an auditory learner I guess you will be fine but good luck.
I tried harder to learn the entire Philosophy class from last semester, but I didn't expect that it was not well - understood to learn most of complicated concepts .
Gupta's class is challenging but doable. She's not always clearyou'll usually go over the material in groups and she doesn't lecture on everythingbut everything is clear in the book. She gives the essay questions before the tests. On tests, always assume she wants more than what she's asking for (whole theory vs. one part), and the A is yours.
Before I say anything, I respect this lady a lot. I'm a great essay writer. I got A's on the all the exams + participated in class. I still got a B - wanna know why? Her trickily worded quizzes killed my grade to THAT extent. That is nuts. If you want to be challenged to the fullest, go ahead and take her, but I resent working so hard just for a B
Dr. Gupta is a great professor in the liberal arts. I had taken her class over the winter quarter, which is 16 weeks of a semester crammed into 5, and she still managed to cover all material thoroughly, expending all of her livelihood to keep it running smoothly . The grade you get in her class reflects the amount of work you decide to do.
I was committed to getting a good grade and if you read the lecture before she goes over it, and really make the effort to know the material, pulling a good grade isn't impossible. She even drops the lowest test and quiz grade, which is a major plus. As a teacher, she isn't going to teach you everything, which is why reading the book is necessary!
This was one of the first classes I ever took at GCC. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone, honestly. She's not a mean person, but she honestly has no idea what she is talking about, so following lectures is a bit of a challenge. She also is incredibly hard to get ahold of.
This class is literally a "memorize your book word for word" or you will fail. I took this professor without reading this website and noticed the 1.9 rate for this professor is a bit too high. She's a 1. You have to literally pull all nighters every test and memorize the book. I passed all exams with an A but I still got a B. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Professor Gupta's class challenges you to understand the material. The concepts are not easy to grasp, but she does make clear what she expects of you. I highly recommend using her office hours!
She's expects concise logical work , if you're willing to work you can get an A.
The professor is a harsh grader, she expects you are able to write concise essays on what you learned and make sure you understand the concepts eve though she doesnt explain at all during lectures. She will literally tell stories of what shes done and assign groups you dont even use. Reading the book on your own and taking own notes is recommended.
I was never sure what was relevant to the class. Often she would just gossip or complain about her personal life. She assigns homework and then forgets about it, and in class assignments are impossible to complete because she talks the whole time that you're supposed to be working. Book was great though! Ecofeminism, Globalization & World Religion.
One of the best professors I have had. If you pay attention in class and do the readings you will do well. Her style of teaching is at a university level, really prepares you for university. It is a challenging course but it is worth it. She is also very generous with her grading and makes sure you are prepared before any test. Highly recommend her
Anyone who says she was her favorite prof is full of it, she is ALL over the place. She is a nice person but gets OFF TRACK and always falls behind, this drove me nuts! If you are already a great essay-writer and student in general you will most likely be fine. An A is possible but not without frustrations along the way. You've been warned.
Dr. Gupta is an amazing women, I took her Philosophy 118 course the subject matter was Ecofeminism a topic most are not familiar with. This class was structured very differently almost no lecture she taught the class through story telling and discussion. The exams were straight forward as long as you read the book you will be able to do well.
The teacher grades based on class participation, yet very rarely gives students the opportunity to speak. To get a good grade on the tests, you have to memorize the book and then add your own analysis. Your essays should be 4+ pages on the test. Also, she gets off-topic very easily and likes to discuss her personal life.
This professor is such a good and kind person. Sadly, I did not like the way she structured the class. Too much emphasis is but on the textbook, her lectures were not exciting. Concepts are not hard to grasp but you need to memorize a lot of definitions. This class is probably best suited for someone who enjoys learning on their own.
She will not give you an A. She is never clear on what she wants and honestly the way she grades is ridicules. Every time I would ask her why I received a certain grade, her response was every time I wanted more or some other reason why she didn't want to give me an A. An A seemed impossible. Good luck and take her with caution or don't take her.
Do not take her, you will not get an A.
She's an old Indian lady who gets incredibly frustrated easily.. Her lectures are long, and not interesting. She goes over the material, but in a monotone voice that lasts for hours. There's 4 tests, each an essay that she grades really harshly.
I took her a year ago and to this day it's the only B I ever received on my transcript despite having a passion for classical philosophy and getting A's on the exams (the quizzes were what sunk me). Such a frustrating experience.
Professor Lina Gupta is an excellent teacher & wonderful person. She seems to really enjoy teaching, & conversing with her students and answering any questions they have. She is very understanding of things that may come up in your daily life. Communication, Active listening, & Reading are the key to success in this class.
Very very unclear this professor just talks and talk and talks. She is very unclear in what she wants and her grading scale. Never makes any sense and he test essay questions are very vague.
I took her class in the late afternoon, and I don't regret taking her class. If you really do read what you are supposed to you will get an A. You get clear study guides to study for tests and final. So as long as you read and prepare you will pass. Philosophy can be interesting if you engage on the topics and read the material. Enjoyed the class.
If you want to take a class where you will fall asleep in the first ten mins, then take her class. She is very unclear on her explanations. She does not have a lesson plan, this class is for students to self teach themselves. Follow the syllabus and you will at least pass. advice: DONT TAKE HER.
Dr. Gupta is a wonderful person. Her teaching style can be better & her class is not very fun but her class is very intellectual. You will learn philosophy & you will be ready for university. The students who have given her a negative vote have done so b/c of lack of focus & study on their part. I would also advise you to study with the two SI's.
I have taken Dr. Gupta for two philosophy classes. Her class is hard but its worth it. Take either her Philosophy 101 (introduction) or Philosophy 116 (ethics) and you'll be ready for university. If you have a hard time with her class, then you are not ready for university. Her class is boring but it will get you ready for higher education.
I had for 116 and 101 and she is fantastic. Trust me when I say that you will learn a lot about philosophy and about life. She is a kind soul that will help you with any trouble that you may have. Her stories are also great and go good with the philosophical topic. She will get you ready for university friends. Taker her class & experience college.
Her class is not the most fun philosophy class but its is one of the more hardcore. There is no room for fun in her class. You have to study and work hard. Read the book and go to SI and study. Her stories are not really that good but that's her teaching type. It sucks but it helps with understanding philosophy (I guess). She is a great person.
Dr. Gupta is a great teacher and I loved learning from her. She has inspired me to major in philosophy. I'm going to study law and it seems that philosophy is a good way of getting ready. Her SI is also great and his also smart and cute. Take her if you want to understand philosophy. Read the book, study the book, and go to her office and SI. Fin.
Lina Gupta is a great professor and even a greater person. Here Philosophy 101 class is the best 101 class that will get you ready for future philosophy classes and university. You hare to work hard to get an A in her class. I mean you have to read, go to SI and do group study if you can.
Me and most of my friends were asked to write reviews for Dr. Gupta b/c it seems that her Philo101 class is suffering from low students. I am glad to have taken her class. It really did help me enjoy studying & know what university is like. She is a sweet person with a deep care for her students. Take her class & she'll get you ready for university
She is the most boring professor at GCC. All she does is to read from the book and give you quizzes and exams. You have to buy two books for class and study like there is no sunrise. I mean she makes philosophy so boring. Philosophy is suppose to be fun and enlightening and not boring & distasteful. You don't even get ready for other philo classes.
I believe Dr. Gupta is a wonderful teacher of philosophy. Most of the students with negative reviews have given negative reviews b/c they did not study and got a low grade, or imagined that philosophy was going to be easy. Philosophy is not easy. Philosophy is not dumbed-down in Dr. Gupta's class. She will get you ready for university.
Dr. Gupta is an amazing professor of philosophy. Her class is only boring to people who don't like philosophy or don't know what philosophy is and what is not. Philosophy is not just your opinion but the discoveries of the greatest minds in human history. If you study the book, participate in class, and go to her SI, you'll pass the class easy.
Philo101 is not an easy class but its very enlightening. Dr. Gupta does a good job with her class. I know I'm very happy with teaching. She makes you work for your grade. If you are not willing to work, then don't take her class. Take Mr. B's class. Her class is hard because it is a college level class. It's hard but good. Study, go to SI, pass.
She is the worst Professor at GCC. I can't believe they let her teach.
I am currently taking her class for the summer and the most important thing is that you definitely have to read the book if you want to pass! This is not an easy A class. If you work hard, study well, and know how to construct organized essays you can get an A. Besides that she is a wonderful person and she cares about all her students!!
She is easier on students she likes but picks apart others looking for a reason to lower your grade when there isn't any. She favors students, is not clear on what she wants, takes points off without reason, no clear grading criteria, and is so monotone that it made a subject I'm majoring in a living hell. She is the worst thing to happen to GCC.
Dr. Gupta is such a wonderful person. She is just not a very good teacher. She keeps saying that she is helping us but the truth is that we don't really learn much from her. I had to study with her two SI's. The SI's saved my butt and I'm very grateful to them. If you take the class, make sure to study with her two SI's. Good Luck!
Not only is Dr. Gupta a good teacher, but she is a very good storyteller. She brings in personal accounts to really teach the subject matter at hand. This class is for those who are serious about learning. It's great because if you actually listen instead of waiting to speak, you absorb a lot. Be open and give her a chance.
Dr. Gupta is a good teacher and person and I'm very grateful to her for helping me learn not only philosophy but also who to be a good student and a good person. She teaches you how to succeeded in college and how to succeed at university. Her two SI's are also very nice and knowledgeable and I'm also grateful to them for their help.
Prof. Gupta is a good educator if you wish to major in philosophy or something but she's not a good educator if you wish to just pass some easy GE class. Don't take her if you want some easy GE class. Her class is mostly for philosophy majors and philosophy lovers. She is one of the most sweetest human beings that I have known in my lifetime.
I took Dr. Gupta's philosophy 101 class in the summer as a freshman in high school. I decided to take the class to begin fulfilling my GE requirements, however, I received much more than that. Dr. Gupta's class opened my mind to advanced thinking, appreciation for philosophy, and a feeling of intellectual fulfilmant.
Dr. Gupta is probably one of the best educators at GCC but she's not very entertaining and that lack of entertainment turns me off to her. Other philosophy teachers seem to love philosophy, teaching and teaching philosophy but Dr. Gupta seems to just like education. That is, she's not very interested in teaching philosophy. Overall she is good.
Prof. Gupta is a good woman with a kind heart and I appreciate her. Her class can get boring but over all what you learn in her class is priceless. She is just a low energy person but philosophy is a subject that is best taught by a high energy person. Her teaching can be boring but it's worthy of learning for it's important knowledge.
Good professor for independent students (i.e., university students) but not a very good professor for dependent students (i.e., high school students). Her lectures are boring and dry but this college people. She's not your mother but your teacher. Read, Study, participate in class and you'll pass the class.
She's not very good at teaching philosophy because all she does is to preach philosophy to her students. We don't need her to keep talking and talking because that's not philosophy. I think she believes herself to be some good philosopher or educator but she's not. Very dry teaching and makes philosophy very boring. Her SI leader is much better.
Took Phil101 with her and my is she a tough grader. You must write an essay for all of her midterms and you don't know what kind of question you are going to get. It's very difficult to know every theory in detail, because that's just how she wants it. Lectures are ok at best. You gotta have photographic memory to get an A on the tests.
Prof Gupta expects a lot from her students, as she should. Philosophy is a challenging, complex subject and she expects concise language in midterm essays and a thorough understanding of each theory. An A is achievable if you work hard, do the readings and study. A tip: utilize her office hours for any questions you may have.
Wouldn't recommend taking this professor especially if you're not into reading at all, or won't take the time to really understand every piece taught in class. She expects a lot from her students, and although she does give a 4 question study guide, its hardly helpful. Not an easy class whatsoever, especially the way she teaches it
Worst professor I've ever had in my life! She is so rude and she doesn't accept any opinions from students. I got an F in her class and I have no idea how that happened since I tried hard to do good in her class, but it just wasn't possible.
Nice Lady. However she is a very tough grader. If you want an easy class do not take this class. I'm taking her right now and I regret not dropping it. If you are a lazy student like me then this class is not for you. You will have to teach yourself in this class because it's hard to understand her. She does not explain information well.
Worst professor I've taken in all my semesters at GCC. I'm a philosophy major and for an entire semester she managed to make me hate a subject that I love. Don't take this course. Grade is based on 3 midterms, one of which is dropped, a final, and a group project. Professor Gupta is extremely unorganized, repetitive, and lacks teaching skills.
She is one of the best professors you can ever have in your entire life. Her class is fun and she has a very distinctive smoothing voice which will relax you in the class. Her material for the exam is pretty straightforward and she goes over the text over and over again to make sure everyone comprehends all of them completely. She is a very fair gr
Dr. Gupta is one of the best astounding professor I have taken. She made my first philosophy class experience unforgettable. I left her class everyday with new knowledge I could apply to in my life. She challenges her students for preparation to universities and gives amazing advise. People who write bad comments is due to not putting effort.
Professor Lina Gupta is very intelligent, she prepares us for University's and has a lot of lectures.
She is a terrible professor! She doesn't teach at all, she's very close minded and doesn't like to hear other people's opinions. She just talks the whole class about personal stories about OTHER students. If you take this class prepare to teach yourself.
She spends all class time lecturing and goes off topic too often and for too long. She is unorganized and incompetent in her teaching skills. Grade is based on 3 midterms, final, journals, and participation. One of the midterms can be dropped. I dont advise taking her!
Rather than informing and educating her students, she makes them jump through hoops for a decent grade. She'll play games like knock 10 points off of your essay exam for not mentioning a specific philosopher when she never stated that it was necessary. She even failed one of my classmates for using the bathroom right before the exam started.
i am an okay student. if u read what she tells you to then you will pass with an A. It's not hard to understand and she goes over them a bunch. Her tests are exactly what she mentions in class, and she even gives out 8 questions to practice, then using 2 for the actual tests. she does go off topic though so it will get a bit boring time to time.
She's not clear on what she expects from you. If you HAVE to take her just remember to be as detailed as possible when taking the tests, literally don't leave anything out. There is no homework so you only know if you're doing poorly based on the tests, so by the time you get the second one back you've wasted half a semester. READ THE TEXTBOOK!!
She talks a lot and goes off topic almost the entire class session. She loses track of time and teaches one small concept and goes on for an hour about examples and tangents that are completely useless. There are exams on every religion we learn but its difficult to grasp each subject or idea because she goes on forever about irrelevant things.
Shes awful never take her class I had to drop with W I lost my passion in philosophy by taking it with her
PLS PLS DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I know we moved to online class but her lectures are not helpful at all. I am warning you, DO NOT TAKE HER. She is confusing, doesn't help you when you need help and she is not a good teacher. She goes off topic and never finishes her sentences. PLS DO NOT TAKE HER !!!!!!
Do yourself a favor and take this class at another school. It's not hard to get an A in the class if you do all the work, but she is the worst professor i've ever encountered. She never replies to emails, has a nasty attitude, acts sweet but really isn't and is incredibly disorganized. She also takes FOREVER to put grades in. Wouldn't recommend.
Gupta is THE WORST professor I have ever encountered. She is an unreasonable grader and doesn't explain anything. She often strays off-topic and has no sense of time. You will have to teach yourself in this class. It' hard to get an A because she knocks off points for the most trivial things. Do your self a favor and take this class elsewhere.
This was my worst experience in a class at GCC and I left the college after this class to go to another college in the area. Gupta is the most disorganized wandering professor with 0 connection to the text or any kind of grading criteria. I am a philosophy major and I fought with all my energy to get a B. Literally, worst class ever!
Do not take her class! I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! Lectures aren't interesting at all. Doesn't make them interesting. Gets off topic all the time to things that aren't relevant to what she's talking about nor what we are reading and the topics.
She has a really bad attitude towards teaching. Argues with students if they have a question about something, not clear at all on how she wants things done, speaks very boring and unclear, she probably didn't want to show up for our class at all
Don't take her class. She grades like it's the end of the world. On top of this, she is really vague. I would go on to explain further but I can't be asked.
Professor Gupta is very strict and doesnt allow any make up work. I would not take this class if your looking for a caring or compassionate Professor. I have not had a good experience with her at all. She is by far one of the worst teachers I have taken at Gcc.
She doesnt answer any questions when you need feedback, and never responds to emails. Ramble on her speeches in class
One of the worst professors I've taken. Her lecturing "style" is the worst I've come across - she simply asks many questions and expects students to answer of their own volition, she does very little teaching. Seems to take a lazy approach and would rather share a recorded "lecture" - but even those are vague and hard to go through.
This professor and class are a giant oof. Honestly do not take this class. The professor is the worst in terms of communication, tech ability, lecturing, etc. Everything about this made me grit my teeth and just hoped that I passed. Her grading is rediculous!
She was one of the worst professors I've ever had and one of the worst classes I've ever taken. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class. It was a stressful class.
If you want to ruin, your GPA take her class. This class was very unorganized and very confusing. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS because you will definitely regret it!
Nope! Don't even think about it. This was one of the hardest classes I have taken at GCC. Not only does the professor never respond to emails, but the class is incredibly unorganized. She grades very harshly and never gives good feedback for the exams.
She does not respond to emails, she is clearly a tough grader, she is aggressive enough, lectures are based on a plain reading of the book. Also, she doesn't know that it is an intro class and demands you to have more knowledge. You may need an intro class to an intro class.
Lectures are essentially a repeat of the book and in remote class, they are pre recorded. Shes a VERY tough grader. Its only quizzes and tests. Im shocked I didnt get a lower grade tbh. If you ask her questions in class, she is very thorough in explaining and takes all the time you need. Shes also a kind woman but teaching style is outdated.
Absolutely terrible as an online professor. She has no idea what she is doing. I'm sure she's decent in person but stay away from her online classes. She is also incredibly rude to people who are asking simple questions about the syllabus and tests.
DON'T TAKE HER! Quizzes and essays were incredibly difficult. I started out with an A and it started to drop very rapidly. Her lectures are long and boring and she goes off topic a lot. Garbage professor. Good luck if you made the same mistake I did with taking her as a Professor.
She doesn't know how to use technology. No slides, screen sharing, breakout rooms, doesn't even know how to check the chat. She makes you type "hello" on the canvas chat box, then calls out names to verify when she can easily copy the log. She makes you read the textbook in class and her exam grading is not clear. This is coming from a 4.0 GPA.
