Mrs. Abraham was very clear and organized. She makes the lectures interesting. She is a challenging grader however very fair. Mrs. Abraham challenged my writing skills and held my work to high standards. Great learning experience!
Linda is a great teacher and she makes the class fun!
One of the best science teachers I've ever had. She really cares about the students and is flexible on deadlines( because she knows when students are stressed). I highly recommend taking micro from her. A very enjoyable class!!!
Microbiology is difficult but Linda makes it interesting, her lectures are interactive and informative. She is very helpful, understanding, and flexible. I will miss having her class and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Plenty of opportunity to get the grade you'll deserve. She's more than fair.
Excellent teacher and fun class. Lots of busy work that involves writing and an oral presentation (don't worry, everyone was nervous). All the extra assignments are time consuming ( fair and relativly easy) but they are what ultimatly brought my grade to an A!
I don't know what the previous people were on when they made a comment, this teach has the toughest tests I ever took - this coming from a person who had to take a 20 page Computer Programming "C" language final. I will agree she is fair and demanding, but the tests can be difficult. She knows her stuff too, but is a good teach.
The tests can be tricky, because it can be difficult to know what you need to focus on, but there are plenty of other areas in the class to keep your grade up. The labs are fun!
She's organized, fun, knows her stuff. Her tests are very hard and not always relevant to what she emphasized in class. Relies on test bank, I didn't figure this out until the last test so those that knew HAD the test questions she'd choose from. Would have been a lot easier that way! Very helpful if you ask.
She is VERY bright and VERY goodlooking....made me want to fail and retake her class a dozen times!!!
Very hard. Tests are difficult and do not relate to what she taught in class (meaning tricky). Labs are fun. If you have a lot of time on hand you can take her, because she makes the class seem like it's 5 or 6 units not only 4.
Great teacher, I really couldn't recommend anyone else. It's a tough subject for many people, but she really provides you with the resources to get an A. Test formats were easy to understand and made sense. Lab format was absolutely perfect. Couldn't ask for a better microbiology experience.
I highly recommend her. I had no interest in taking this class but I had to. Surprisingly, it's one of the best class I have ever taken. She lets the class know exactly what they can expect from the tests. She only lectures on the most important part of the text. She is very approachable. She even makes you feel like she's your elementary teacher.
Beautiful on the inside and outside...yes pretty. Really cares for her students. I was stressed, but she has a way of calming you down. Very intelligent and sharp as a tack. I'd recommend her. She makes Microbiology fun. You'll have do to some studying though.
Does anyone know where she gets the test bank from, how to find it or where to acess it? Would be a hudge help
I took her last year and she is one of the BEST teachers I've ever had. I have a previous BS degree, so I've had many professors. She's not easy, but is fair and always available to help her students. The knowledge I gained from her class has helped me through the rest of of my prereqs. for nursing (all A's). Study hard and you'll be rewarded
One of the best professors I have ever had!
The class is hard enough as it is yet, she gave us a load of "busy work" such as relevance writings and oral reports that just added to all the other important work we had to do. Over all she's a nice lady and the labs were fun.
Nice personality, but very difficult. Not too many good grades in the class. She does have a lovely accent nontheless.
Very HARD, if u r taking 17 units like me, it's a bad idea to take her. Too much work. 3 essays, oral presentation, 4 textbook exams, 2 Lab exams, 20 Extra credit HW, 10 pop quizes, and Final (all in 1 SEMESTER!) it's crazy!!!
This is for you who dare to take it in summer. DON'T! You need all the information you can learn here. This teacher is great, but normal A students will struggle. If A's are very important, make this your ONLY class, and don't take it over the summer. Good Luck!!
too much work (oral reports, relevance writings, etc.)...not enough time to actual learn and retain material. the final was cumulative with 20 something chapters and no study guide. extra credit is offered but they are take quite a bit of time and are only worth 1 point each.
Linda is amazing. She is such an understanding person. I loved being in her class. I unfortunately did not recieve the grade i hoped for but i was taking A and P at the same time. This requires tons of studying... no slacking off! Fast paced... she is a hard grader but veryyyyyyy lenient on due dates.
This is probably one of the best teachers you will have for a biology class, especially for nursing pre-reqs! She is hard in her grading, but what you learn in her class will carry on to what you actually use in the field. Plus shes hot and her English accent makes you melt! So, take the class very seriously and do ALL your work, the points add up!
Linda is the best professor I have ever had. She works hard at presenting difficult material in a way that is comprehensible. You must work hard to receive an A in this class, but it is possible. She gives study guides and answers questions. I would love to take every class with her if she taught more!!!
This is an interesting subject. Linda knows a lot about Microbiology and it shows. She can explain pretty much everything that is asked from the top of her head. However she assigns a lot of busy work and the exams are very hard. Labs were fun and attendance is not mandatory but reccomended.
very nice and helpful. She is a great teacher. Loved the class. the material is hard but you can do it if you try hard enough.
Linda is awsome professor in so many ways, however, if you are an A student, she will make gradeing on you even harder. E.g. I did my oral presentation at least better than a couple students in the class, but still recieved the lowest score for it. I did not bother to ask Linda about my presentation score she gave me, because my overall score was t
Linda is by far the best BIO 440 teacher you will ever have. The material is hard but she does a great job teaching it. I would tell everyone I know to take her class.
Linda is a wonderful professor. Her tests are M/c and essay. You will not memorize facts in this class you will learn and be able to put it all together. I highly recommend to anyone looking into medical profession. Very personable and give alot of quizes and easy points but you will study hard. WORTH IT!
Awesome teacher, awesome class. If you want to learn, take Abraham. Tests are challenging, but if you do the workbook pages you will do great. Labs are really fun. Quality teacher, the best ever!
Linda is the best. She really cares about her students and takes the time to explain. Her tests are hard, final is comprehensive, but she allows note card. She makes learning fun!!
Prof. Abraham is one of the best. I would recommend her to any one who wants to really learn.
Great Instructor with Ph.D Degree, and give very clear instructions during the lab sessions, and she also gives clear Study Guides for Lab Practicals ( there were two, each worth 80 points). Very flexible and understands students. She is not rude, very professional in her interactions with students, and all our students liked her. Highly recommend!
Mrs. Abraham is a wonderful professor, as good as they get! Very clear, organized, helpful, and passionate. Bio 440 is a tough class, but you will learn a lot if you take her and work hard. Do the workbook pages! Labs are a lot of fun. Tests are challenging, you must read the book. Final was tough too, no easy points. I got an A, so it is possible
This is the best teacher I had at Folsom Lake College. She has so much knowledge about mircobiology and can explain it very clearly. She always helps you out when you need it and she always makes labs/lectures fun. She is not easy at all, you need to study hard and put a lot of time in. But she lets you use notecards on the test which help out tons
do not mistake her kindness for easiness stay with the workbook pages and do your study guides for your note card
If this class is hard for you I don't know what to tell you. She gives you workbook pages, study guides and LETS YOU USE A NOTECARD on every single test including the final. Her tests are super easy. Hard not to get an A. Lots of points aside from just exams. Easy grader.
I worked harder in this class, than any other. I loved the teacher, but hated the tests. I loved learning, but it was overwhelming, at times. You will feel like your head will explode with all the information you learn. : ) I DO recommend her highly.
Amazing lecturer, offering various ways to learn for different styles. You learn so much. Tests do not however match the same teaching style being almost impossible to get over a c. Since grades are high% from the tests, you can be an A student in everything else, but just try to pass the tests with good grades. Huge mental stress!
Great teacher. lets you have a flashcard for all exams and final which is part multiple choice/short answer. 2 lab practicals. MUST go to labs but they are straight forward and easy. Must read the textbook before class. she's very sweet and approachable. I would retake her as a teacher if I could again!
Worked my behind off to earn my A and became a better student for it. Linda is very sweet, kind and passionate about micro. She is professional and helpful. Study, Use the study guides and Read the text book to earn an A.
GREAT TEACHER.VERY APPROACHABLE. TEST ARE EASY IF YOU MAKE A GOOD FLASHCARD FROM STUDY GUIDES. 2 LAB PRACTICALS 6 EXAMS. MUST READ TEXT!DONT MISS LABS THE EXAMS ARE BASED OFF IN THE TEXT. I FOUND THE LECTURE TO SOMETIMES BE POINTLESS WITH GROUP WORK. YOU'LL LOVER HER, I WISH I COULD TAKE HER FOR A&P. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT MISS LABS!
I took Bacteriology 442 with Professor Abraham and I am so glad I did. She is a fantastic Professor, easy to talk to, and always available for her students. You will learn so much from her and you'll be glad you took her class. I highly recommend this Professor for her teaching techniques as well as her personality and availability to her students.
Awesome lady, really nice, and cool accent. However, I found her tests extremely difficult. She would assign 5-6 chapters and the test would be 20 multiple choice and short answer questions. It was really overwhelming, and the study guide was just as overwhelming. But I talked to people who loved her. I re took it with Jahangiri and got an A.
Professor Abraham is a fantastic teacher who truly cares about everyone's learning process. There is a ton of material covered in the class, but she really tries her best to give high marks. Tests are difficult, attendance is mandatory, but there's lots of opportunity to make up for the occasional bad grade. Funny and smart and helpful.
Abraham does genuinely want to help her students. She spends time with each student to explain during class time. Everything she says is useful.Did not quite understand how to correctly study for her exams.I studied everything thoroughly but still ended up getting a low A on the final practical. I took her with Jahangiri's lecture.Got an A!
Abraham was very kind and she was enthusiastic about teaching. You could tell that she cared about what she teaches and is very knowledgeable. If you do your work and assignments and read the chapters, you will do great.
Absolutely the best professor I've had in my entire college career. Prof Abraham is very clear, concise, thorough and never leaves you guessing on what's expected each day in lab. She runs a very tight ship, so if you're used to leaving lab early, forget it; you will be in class the entire time. She it terrific and truly cares about her students
If you are like me and actually want to learn the material presented don't take Abraham. Covers 1/4 of the material in lecture and the rest is up to you. She does allow cheat sheets to pat her grades though. Study guides consist of everything in the book including material she doesn't cover. I wish previous comments were more accurate.
Dr. Abraham is an awesome professor with a great deal of knowledge about Microbiology. Text book use is mandatory, I recommend using the online HW. Tests are very hard, especially the final was ridiculous. I got A's on all tests and a C on the Final. She does let you use a resource card. Lecture goes VERY fast.
Professor Abraham is incredibly intelligent and passionate about micro. Unfortunately, she has lost touch of what it is like to be a student. She teaches about 20 of the material, the rest is self-learning. Be prepared to each yourself. She allows the use of 1 note card, the only reason anyone passes. Do not take anything else with this class.
Her lectures are atypical -- few Powerpoints, lots of concept maps and tables to summarize multiple chapters. She provides a Workbook so you can focus important concepts. You MUST be prepared and have read the chapter BEFORE lecture or you'll be lost. She move fast! Attend ALL labs or consider dropping.
She is my favorite teacher of all time. She gives you all the methods she can think of to help you pass the class. She is tries to be available as much as she can. She tries to get you engaged and makes you think about how the information you are learning can be applied. If I could take this class again, I would. Love her!
Overall, a really good teacher that offers the best of help in her control. Her class is not impossible if you are willing to put in the effort and do the work. Reading the chapters and doing the workbook pages before class will be very helpful.
One of the best teachers I have had. She has not only taught me about microbiology but also about being a better student. This class will prepare you for the rigor of whatever program you're going into (RN, dental hygiene, etc.) Her enthusiasm for the subject is inspiring. I've never been in a class where everyone is so excited about the subject!
Always there to help you out. She is very organized and makes sure you are aware of what is going on in class. Lecture exams are tough. Workbook pages are a must if you want to pass. Textbook is necessary and you will read almost the entire thing! She is very nice and always positive. Great teacher, hard subject!
doable if u dont need an A, or not full time student, or dont work long. she allows a flashcard on exam, completing assignment will get u a B. Take someone else or solely treat it as ur only class if u need an A. one exam after another, end with a cumulative final. Lec covers 30% material rest are self learning. Tough grader even on student conduct
Great teacher and very passionate. Gives quizzes in class although they do not accurately represent the exams. Exams are 40 multiple choice and 20 free response. Multiple choice is TOUGH! 1 group project worth 60 points. 80 point lab practicals (not too hard). Gives extra credit for tutoring. This is a hard class, but it is possible to pass!
I took Linda in fall of 2015. Shes very passionate, kind, always there to help you, and incredibly brilliant! This is microbiology so obviously its not easy; with hard work you can get an A. If you like to slack and not study for tests than you wont get an A. She offers a good amount of extra credit. It was a challenge, but I loved her class.
Amazing professor. One of the best. Really works with you and wants you to succeed and pass. Gives good tips on becoming a successful student and passing with an A. Tough material, A lot of material. Fast paced. Ready/Study/comprehend. Lectures are important so def. record. Online homework. MC test/Free response exams. Great teacher.
Very easy to understand teacher with great lecture and labs. I learned so much in her class and found it challenging and rewarding. I got an A and I worked hard for it but I never felt it wasnt attainable. She gives you opportunities for extra credit and lots of help along the way.
Review the study guides and you'll do well on the tests. There are no surprises. She makes the lab material clear and easy.
Coming from a four year college, this chick is hard. Her exams are a combo of multiple choice and short answer. She likes drawings, compare and contrast and lots of detail. Her exams are pretty hard and can drop you a letter grade really quick. I would get another prof for this class and would avoid Linda at all costs.
Do not take her. Exams can kill your grades. They are hard and not specific. She doesn't help her students. I went to every lecture, took notes and read the book; still managed to get D's or C's on her exams. Every average for four midterms were around sixty percent.
Abraham gives clear information during lectures and often has group activities. She sometimes is slow to cover all material, but she is thorough! She is very willing to help students outside of class and offers extra credit. She very much wants her students to understand and hopefully love microbiology as much as she does! Great professor:)
Prof Abraham is top three profs I have had if not the best. I earned BS degree years ago from CSU & cant recall any of past prof being as good. She structures lecture and lab very well for students & is passionate about microbio. She is always pleasant and patient when any of us (students) mess up in lab or have difficulty w/ concepts. No regrets
Because microbiology did not transfer from FLC to UC Davis, I am retaking it. I learned so much more from Dr. Abraham. She is one of the best professors I have ever had. With that being said, prepare to work for it.
Super nice lady, does care. She is super helpful and clear in lab. However, she is not clear on what you need to know for exams. Gives generic study guides that cover most of the chapter so not useful. Only will explain the tougher topics in lecture, does not cover everything that will be tested. WAY too much HW and assignments. 20pt extra cred.
Great Professor and person. assignments are straight forward and lab is really fun and easy as well. But there is a need of improvement in test and lab practical study guides
GREAT teacher--passionate about micro, explains well and cares about students. HW was 20% of the grade; half of it was a gimme if you did it. You HAVE to read, but she won't cover everything in the chapter (nor test on it.) Fair exams, but expect 1-2 oddball MCQs. Likes details in free response. Lab was interesting overall, just don't fall behind.
Linda is great. Shes funny, passionate, and is very good at explaining material. She can be very slow and repetitive on ideas, but its only when necessary and difficult material to understand. She tests directly from lectures, and gives you clear examples that will arise on essay questions on exams. Studying constantly is the only way to get an A
Linda is an amazing professor, micro is not an easy class so if you don't plan on reading you will not pass. Each week you can earn 10 easy points for HW and that really helps bump your grade if you are a bad test taker. She offers a study guide for all her tests. She is very approachable, but she doesn't just give you the answers. Great class
Lectures boring but you have to go as she focuses what you need to know for tests. You have to pay attention in class both lecture and lab. 4(60) Lecture tests 2(80) lab practicals and a(120) final. lots of easy hw points to help boost with 2% extra credit opportunity. She is helpful, cares and does everything she can to get you to your goal Grade
Dr. Abraham is extremely passionate about Microbiology. Her lectures are often related to what she finds interesting from the course material. There is a lot of homework and assignments so you need to put a lot of effort into the class. The tests are difficult but she releases study guides that explain everything to know. overall excellent.
Professor Abraham is an amazing professor! For the following reasons She is extremely clear and precise about what material she expects you to know and retain. Her study guides are pretty big.. but this is a stem class folks, you should expect to work hard to get that A (-: She genuinely cares about you as her student and responds fast to emails
She is extremely passionate about what she teaches. She never makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. She truly is an amazing professor and I learned a lot from her. It is not an easy class by any means, but it will prepare you well.
She's super nice and understanding, BUT THIS CLASS IS HARD. you will have to study your bum off if you want to get a good grade in this class. she is super lenient and approachable if you have issues but the curriculum she's got set up will make you CRY. don't take this class unless its mandatory for your career choice.
An absolute gem. Probably the nicest professor you'll ever have. Micro is HARD, but she is very helpful and wants you to succeed. Tests are difficult, but do the studyguide and reading and you'll be fine. She makes lab very fun too! She isn't super strict and is so so nice. I would take her class again in a heartbeat. Study hard and youll be fine!
Professor Abraham was a great instructor ! You will have to put the work into this class on your own as well. Reading the chapters and understanding the material is how you pass this class. Although lab practicals are tough, the experiments are very fun.
I highly recommend Professor Abraham! She does expect a lot from her students but wants them to learn and is always there to help you understand. Tests are hard but straightforward. Tests are MC & FRQ but it's not too bad. If you put in the study time you'll get the grade. I would recommend taking her class after A&P (its time-consuming!!!)
Dr. Abraham is passionate about the subject and is so supportive of students. Labs are challenging yet fun, and lectures are interesting and applicable, especially when you get into diagnoses. Put in the time and effort and you'll do well in the class, as well as retain the information you need to be successful in allied health roles.
I learned more from her than any other science teacher. She is caring, fun, and approachable. If you do the study guides and try to understand the lab tests, an A is not hard to get. Her tests are more for understanding not perfection. The labs are so fun, and you don't need to be perfect to get good lab scores. Grade is not just test based.
A very smart and kind woman who wants you to excel in her class. She makes material understandable and labs are fun and she walks you through everything and explains everything. Expectations are clear. I learned a lot from her class that is applicable to everyday life. Highly recommend taking her. Offers office hours and is eager to help you
I can't find words to describe how amazing Dr. Abraham was. She is an exemplary educator who loves to teach and actually wants to see her students succeed. I haven't encountered a professor as passionate about student success as Dr. Abraham. She made us feel valued while giving us excellent education that's relevant for today's healthcare.
Great Professor. 5 lec exams, 2 lab exams, 1 final. Grades really fast, labs are fun and she is very helpful. Study hard because your grade depends heavily on the exams. Homework is fairly light, but it is a material-heavy course so get ready to read and learn a lot of information. She gives a study guide for every exam which helps & extra credit.
Dr. Abraham made learning so interesting and fun. I was EXCITED to go to class everyday and it was an 8AM! She is so helpful and wants you to succeed! She is very open to questions and thoroughly goes through all topics. She is always available for office hours and super caring and nice. RECOMMEND!
THE BEST micro prof! It is a lot of info but she makes this subject as easy as pie! Her lectures are engaging and she involves the entire class and gives good and easy explanations to hard concepts. She is the most caring and kindest professor I've ever had, loves her job & students. TAKE HER! :) Tests & study guides match exactly what you learn.
the best micro professor ever! micro is a hard class in general but she made it so easy to understand. super caring and it was such a great time in her class. don't hesitate to take her class! one of the best profs i've ever had no lie
Dr. Abraham was a great teacher, she keeps lectures pretty interesting and always encourages students to ask for help outside class. She's very responsive to emails and is willing to help and answer questions! She offers extra credit and is willing to work with you. Overall, she's a great teacher. Do the reading and start studying for tests early!
U have to read the book front to back, not an exaggeration. Have some general knowledge b4asking ? bc she will make u work for the answer. Class is specifically preparing per-nursing students& others in the allied health field. Prelabs is not required, I highly recommend it or u will feel like u have no idea whats going on as she teaches.
Professor Abraham is very helpful and cares about the success of her students. The homework isn't very difficult and not completing it will bring your grade down. The exams are difficult at first but once you know what to expect, it's not bad. If you read the material, take notes, and ask questions when something doesn't make sense- you'll do well.
Great Professor I had to retake this course because my previous professor was so hard. She made it so easy and so clear. Exams were everything we went over during lecture. She's so funny and actually cares about your future. Offers great extra credit opportunities. Practices exams were so helpful prior to exam days. Overall one of the best teachers
She's an incredible professor, you absolutely need to read the textbook.
