Assigns an abundance of speeches with an overwhemingly large amount of work that has to be put into each adn every speech. Very helpfull but sometimes unclear.

I had at least 15 absences and still passed her class. The stupid assigments she assigned were worth very little so I didn't do them and still got an A

If you want to make a good grade in her class, you will. She knows how to catch the slackers and has no tolerance for it. If she IS unclear or you don't understand something, all you have to do is ask-she doesn't mind questions. Quick email responses.

ok...i missed her class 12 times and only did 1/3 of the speeches and never took a test even if we had to...and guess what, i got an "A" in the class....take her...she is beyond awesome...her class smells though, like moth ****...lol

Hahahah...I love reading how people perceive their teachers. Bad grades are NEVER their own fault...always the instructors. This teacher IS vague sometimes & IS an advocate for the homeless so most material centers around this topic but it's an EASY &quot

Very helpful easy assignments throughout the semester. She grades the major speechs pretty tough. Occasionally will give a pop quiz. She makes you do community service. =/ if you want an "A" you will have to work for it.

I learned a lot. She was fair but demanding. It was a challenging course. Read the syllabus carefully. She refers to it often.

She's the toughest and the best teacher I've had at Valencia. She want "publishable" papers at the end of the course. She shares her life and relates literature to her experiences and mine. The course changed my life.

Its sad that the people put shes a bad teacher. She does give work, but it isnt pointless. If you want a speech teacher to help you get over nervousness then this is your teacher. Her projects are creative and for that reason some of these people think shes bad:"Oh ****, a teacher that teaches good"

The problem with most college kids is they want to sail through without being pushed. Miss Anthon was a hard teacher, but the work was not over the top. If you sat down and did it it would only take abput 30mins max. I think she's awesome, and would recommend any student with drive to take her class

she is a hard teacher because she expects a lot compared to other speech teachers, but i had a great experience in her class, she is a great person; only be prepared to do a lot of busy group projects, take her if your willing to give 100% on all assignments.

i took her for comp. i think she is a great teacher. yes, she does give a lot of work, but she really pushes you to try and be a good writer for future classes. her dicussions were very interesting and always got the students to think. i highly recommend her for freshman comp.

While I was dreading speech, Mrs Anthon really allows you to grow and progress. Very helpful. We did a lot of group work which also took time outside of class which can be difficult (everyone has a different schedule!)

She is very demanding--but I learned so much. She likes creativity and hands on. She doesn't lecture--but she gives good examples. She is usually clear on requirements--yet sometimes I wasn't sure what to do--despite the handouts.She's the best professor I've had.

I absolutely LOVED Ms. Anthon! Our class was amazing and she is very sweet, caring, and interesting. Her class is the only class i actually loved since i started VCC. I highly recommend her! If you keep on task with the assignments, it really is not hard at all.

Ms Anthon is a really nice lady and fairly helpful. Gives TONS of work, lots of group projects and not always enough time. I had all A's in her class and never tried hard, but I still spent hours and hours on JUST her class, forget doing other homework. If you have time, take her! if you dont... dont take her.

If you are a slacker, don't take her. If you want to work hard for your grade and have a teacher appreciate who you are and give you some extra pointers take her. Yes, she will make you work, but she is awsome if you want to grow!

Great class! Lots of interesting in class assignments. A lot of group work that gets u involved with people in the class. Not a lot of quizzes no tests plenty of speeches.5 hrs of volunteer work for project, but I had lots of fun with this. Almost impossible not to learn a ton about public speaking. Great teacher great class, do the work & get an A

Ms. Anthon made class a lot of fun. She assigned projects that encouraged us to be creative. Her stories always made me laugh (especially the one about the boy who accidentally spit out his gum while giving a speech.)Her class wasn't hard if you attended regularly and kept up with the assignments. She's not judgemental and an overall sweet person.

If you appreciate a teacher that really pushes you, don't take her. I loved this class & I found her class to be fun and challenging. BY THE WAY, I GOT AN A in her class. Yes,she does expect a lot out of you. If you think she's bad, wait until you reach your upper level courses. You'll learn to appreciate her then.

She is an excellent professor. She expects a lot from students and you need to do a lot of research for the speeches. I am not even native speaker and got an easy A. Just follow the instructions and will get A.

This lady is a very hard working teacher, that wants nothing more than for you to learn. She does make you do a LOT of work, but by the end you can make great speeches. Don't take this class if you are a slacker or don't have time to dedicate.

I had the once a week class. gave a lot of unnecessary assignments but in the long run it helped me become a better speaker. offers extra credit. shes really passionate about speech. i enjoyed her class. she grades easily. she usually grades harder on the final but went easy on me because I was sick. I ended up with a b and all i did was show up.

Kind of spacey and inattentive, but a very easy grader. Speech is required for graduation, so you'll find all sorts of interesting people populating your class. Basically read the handouts and show up for class.

I DONT KNOW WHAT OTHERS ARE TALKING ABOUT, BUT I TOOK MS. ANTHON FOR SPC1600 SUMMER AND SHE WAS FAIRLY EASY!! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SHOW UP. THE WORK WAS EASY AND YOU DO A LOT OF GROUP WORK!! SHE IS NOT MEAN AT ALL, SHE TELLS YOU WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER SPEAKER!! I WOULD RECCOMEND HER!

You give around 9 speeches throughout the semester. She grades harder every speech you give. Outlines are mandatory for each speech and must be detailed, they take a lot of time. There is probably a much easier speech class than this but if you're willing to work hard than she is a good professor.

shes cool as long as you do your work on time... she can be lenient as well.. w/e you do.. dont be late!! you will get the death stare!!! and she takes it as a personal offense! do your work and you can get an "A"

DO NOT BE LATE! She will drop u if ur late more 2/3 times. She warns u!!She was a Great teacher besides that. Topics were cool n interesting. A lot of typing n certain structures she wants it. No excuse for late work which could be late if u walked in late!Stink eye if ur late! A good amount of work. Decent besides her crazy dont give a eff side!!

Funniest class I have ever experienced alot of people give her bad reviews and I am not sure why sure her class wasn't easy as hell but aslong as you keep up with your speeches, come to class on time, and work with groups which you will have 5/7 speeches with a group lol she was awesome and funny for a older women loved her!

She is a great teacher, gives lots of quizs although they are easy if you read and she gives you extra credit. Doesn't grade the essays until the end and she corrects them for you!

SHE IS AMAZING!! She made me such a better writer. There are 5 essays 2 In-class all 500 words which is not bad at all. She is really strict on attendance but if your not there how do you expect to pass. She sweet and really understanding. Its not alot of work but the readings kinda sneak up on you. TAKE THIS CLASS you won't regret it I promise.

You have to give a ton of speeches, which I wasn't excited about at first, but it really helped me later on. She grades you really easily for your first few speeches, but then she randomly started being picky about everything, so that was hard to get used to. Make sure you go to class, she tends to not like you if you miss a lot, or are late.

This class helps you get over your fear of public speaking immediately. Remember your classmates are just people. Make friends right away and you wont be talking to a group of strangers in front of the room, you'll be talking to your friends. Take her class as an opportunity to better your self for future classes that require presentations.

My advice, get to know your classmates for this class before it even starts. Chat them up in the halls so they aren't strangers. The best part of this class is the debate-speech portion. Try hard to pinpoint the powerful personalities in your class and work with them in the debate. This class was a lot of fun. Public speaking will be easy after it.

For this class, you must attend her class! She will withdraw you after three absences. Be on time. She usually is very clear on what she expects during each speech. You will have two group projects during the semester. My advice is to always do your outlines and make sure your speeches have all the requirements she states. Be prepared beforehand!!

I loved her. The entire class is back to back speeches, as soon as the class finishes one speech she assigns the next, which sometimes was stressful. I highly recommend you get to know your classmates because you do have a few group speeches & you want the best/strongest speakers for the debate speech towards the end of the semester. Great class!

This class is not easy, especially if you do not like public speaking. She is very clear up front what she expects from you. Do not be late or miss class. She will dock you points if you are habitually late and drop you if you are late even more. Make sure you know how to properly cite sources and do annotated bibliographies in MLA format!!!!!

She gives a lot of work, but if you don't mind speaking in front of an audience and a little bit of debating, you'll pass easily. She's very critical about attendance and the paperwork you're given, but you don't have to write out your speeches. Oh, and if you don't have your own stapler you'll lose participation points whenever she checks!

She's a very sweet lady and she makes the classes interesting. Never really felt the desire to skip her classes, and the speeches were easy to do because her classroom environment makes everyone feel very comfortable with each other. Highly recommend her.

Great professor, She is a sweet lady and very kind to her students. You have to read the text that she assigns, or else you might be kind of lost. Speeches are simple and you don't have to write them out, but there is a lot of busy work and Outlines. just be prepared to show up to class and write! And its an easy A!!

Professor Anthon gives many extra credit opportunities. She also allows you to email her your work, so she can tell you what you need to do better. This professor is very helpful, I recommend her!

She is so nice. All you have to do is participate a lot and she will like you. It is a lot of group work. You only have to do 4 speeches and they are fairly easy. Never gives tests and quizzes are easy if you read the main points in the chapters. She does have long lectures but her voice is so sweet. You can earn so much extra credit.

Honestly, as long as you do your work and have eveything she asks for it's an easy A. There 1-2 test in the whole class, I used my book as refrence when writting my outlines and prepering for speeches other then that I didn't do the readings she assigned and still got an A in the class. she is a very nice lady and everything's in the syllabus. :)

That she is a tough teacher, and that you have to do everything her way. I think that she's not clear enough on the grading for the assignment. She has helped me get better with speaking.

Absolutly glad i choose Her as my profesor ! Very lenient grader :) attendance is a must however I missed twice and just let her know beforehand. If You put in the work and do everything she ask You Will pass this class with an A. This class is as fun as You make it i made Alot of friends and got an A. Dont need the textbook no test.

Love her! This class is an easy A if you don't skip class and listen in class. She does give clear instructions. Some people are just negligent and like to blame her for things. I love giving speeches in her class. Only 2 group assignments. I really improved in public speaking after this class. A lot of extra credit opportunities.

Shes a pretty strict teacher but i recommend her, She makes you do two big group projects which are very fun and worth a lot of points, If you dont do the Assignments you will fail,the class is based off outlines and speeches, but shes very good at giving lectures so it wont be hard if you pay attention. I definitely recommend her.

Professor Anthon, was pretty good. There is group work in the class. And she doesn't accept absences, even if you have a doctors note. The majority times you can be absent is 3. Its an easy A as long as you follow the instructions on how to do the outline. It's recommended you go to the writing center before you turn in your outline. Overall easy A

Linda Anthon is great professor. i like her class.

She is very tough but her class is so much fun and you will learn a lot.
