I know her personally...She's awesome!! She's helpful and loves what she does. As for her online classes, give her a break! Blackboard doesnt make things easy on any of the teachers when it's constantly messing up.

Mrs. Malan has changed the way I view the world. She has made anthropology fun. Her enthusiasm and personability make this a great class. You will learn a lot and not even realize it until its over because its so much fun!

Ms. Malan is an AMAZING instructor. She has a sense of humor that is out of this world, plus she loves family guy...a plus in my book. her lab is very easy and she gives you so much time to do everything. she is such a sweet lady!

Class not all that easy, but very clearly taught with lots of time to study.She works with each student so its hard to fail.Enthusiastic instructor-especially about archeology, makes the subject interesting.

I took the online class and it was an got an A. She allows you to retake the quizzes until you are satisfied wih your score. All work is due last day of the semester. Only down fall is she doesn't email or call you back. It was such an easy A though so I can't complain :)

She is a wonderful lab instructor. Because of R. Cerreto and her I ended up changing my major to Anthropology. She makes the class enjoyable, and what you get in the class is up to how much effort you put into the material she gives you. She is always willing to stay after class and help you if you need it.

Great class, no blackboard issues. Communicates solely through discussion boards, but seems genuinely interested in students learning subject. Dont exceed time limit on tests though, automatic 0 every time! But tests can be retaken otherwise over and over, and discussion are kinda fun! Good class, recommend!

Great teacher! Really funny, has great stories that apply to the class, and she makes everything easy to understand. Highly recomend taking the on-campus class! If you take it online your missing out on the joy that she is.

I took online class and the lab. both were easy if you do the work.

Easiest online class. Assignment w/ 5 questions straight from the chapter due every 2 weeks and can take the unlimited times to take the quizzes. Offers extra credit, no discussion boards. 8 Assignments, 8 Quizzes no tests. Very clear too. No complaints about this class :)

Lots of fun for a lab class. She was very patient with students having problems with material. One of my favorites!

I'm currently taking the class. I started the class less than 72 hours ago and have already finished all 14 quizzes (160260 total points are from those quizzes) her grading criteria is very clean in the syllabus and there is a lot of opportunity for extra credit. If you actually do the class it would be very hard to fail.

Super laid back. Is very helpful, and gives hints when giving tests. She clearly wants everyone to pass, and wants them to have a fun time in her class. She has a very nice T.A. Overall her lab was very easy, her online 101 class was easy too, as long as you remember to read the chapter for the week!

This class is amazing because she is clear about what she wants her students to do in her class. I would take her online because its super easy like you only have to buy the access code to start her assignments and quizzes.

Professor Malan makes this class funny and enjoyable! She prepares you for what you need to know on the midterm and final exam. However, get ready to memorize quite a bit of information!

The way she sets up her online class is very clear and you can understand easily what tasks need to b done. i highly recommend her to anyone she is very sweet and very caring and i would take her again. im hoping to have her for anthro101 also bc i loved the way she set up her online class! recommend!!!

I hate science but I enjoyed taking this class! The work helped you learn a lot and had you use online resources in addition to the textbook. You can tell the prof had a passion for what she does and is always willing to help her students if needed! Expect to do discussion board posts, video assignments, and open book quizzes.

This class was very easy but there was just a lot of reading. Besides the reading, the assignments were interactive and easy as long as you did the reading. Overall, Malan is an enjoyable professor who sets clear instructions.

Ms. Malan is a great teacher! I took her for Cultural last year and decided to do her Physical this year and am so happy I did. Be sure to send her emails through Canvas only, she always responds if you do, do all the assignments, even if they are late. She genuinely cares about her students and was very helpful and accommodating.

Very friendly and helpful teacher, it was a difficult semester for me personally and she worked with me to keep me on course. She was genuinely concerned for me, the class was very interesting, lots of different things to do, watched videos and had discussions, there is a weekly quiz, and some fun sort of learning games.

Took Ms. Malan in the Spring, and thoroughly enjoyed the class. I took it as a science because I am getting AA, and didn't really know what to expect. But low and behold I really enjoyed it! I learned so much, and found Anthropology to be really interesting. She is very enthusiastic and makes it fun. I am taking her lab in the Fall, I can't wait!

Fun teacher, this was my favorite class at vvc. Very nice and funny teacher, u do have to go to class though and study. It seems easy because its interesting, but can be hard cuz u have to memorize bones and stuff.

Took the winter 101, it was 6 weeks, so lots of material, 3 chapters a week. Each week theres a PowerPoint for the chapter, an assignment or 2, a discussion and a quiz. No midterm or final. Professor Malan was very responsive to my emails, and graded pretty regularly. Interesting topics, really enjoyed some of the discussions. Great experience!

Took this in the Fall, great teacher, this was my favorite class at VVC. I am graduating this semester, and wish I had taken this class first, I wouldve changed my major. Great teacher loves anthropology and her students. I recommend this class to everyone, its worth being there on Friday mornings (easy to find a parking space too)

Professor malan is a really good teacher. She is super excited with anthropology and its kind of contagious. Labs are fun and interesting, there is some memorizing involved for the midterm and final, but it wasn't that bad. I loved this class, it was on friday morning pretty early but worth it! I had a lot of fun and i learned a lot!

I am taking the lab class right now. This is now my favorite class ever. She does labs that relate to subjects from the lecture like genetics and such, and we study for the midterm which is memorizing different bones. Professor Malan is very patient and wants us to do well. She has interesting stories about Anthropology and is pretty funny.

Ms. Malan is a very enthusiastic and fun professor. I have enjoyed this class so much, I am taking her Cultural class in the Fall. Lots of fun labs, we laugh and I forget sometimes how much we are actually learning!

Online lab was interesting, did some online "games" where we learned about genetics and different stuff like that, had some discussions, and watched a lot of videos to study for the final. Grading was fair, and class was pretty easy to maneuver. Fun class!

Took this class in Spring because she doesn't require a paper at the end and actually found myself enjoying it. Had some fun topics and assignments, some involving garbage or experimenting on peoples behavior. Quiz each week, a discussion assignment and a digging into anthro assignment, sometimes 2. Pretty straight forward. Class transfers to csusb

New favorite class! Took this class in place of biology, and actually enjoyed it so much I'm thinking of changing my major! My study group sat up front and were constantly asking for help and she was happy to help. Her student assistant is very helpful too. Attendance does matter though, a lot of the labs can't be made up!

Friendly teacher, cares about the students, interacts though assignments, left little comments or questions, which I appreciated. Took this class over the Summer, so it was definitely fast paced. But the subject was interesting, I wish I had taken the 16 week, I could've enjoyed the content more rather than moving through so fast. Prof. Malan was on top of our grading, gave good feedback despite the time crunch. She's freaking hilarious sometimes too!

First week with Professor Malan, and I LOVE this class. It is clear, not too much work (16 week semester) at least not so far, the topics are interesting. There is a discussion board, and a place called the coffee shop to chat with other students. You get 5 days to do the work, deadline is Fridays, which is nice, I can enjoy my weekends! LOL!

Taking this lab class on Friday mornings. Just want to point out that this teacher is really good. She is clear, labs are so fun, and she is really funny. She seems to want students to succeed and is very patient with everyone. I may change my major because she made me realize how fascinating anthropology is. Favorite class so far.

I just wanted to give a shout out to my new favorite professor at VVC. I had some personal issues getting started this semester and was feeling pretty defeated. I reached out to her to let her know I was going to fail, she literally talked with me, formed a plan to help me catch up, and now I am actually doing really well in all my classes!

Professor Malan is a kind and caring teacher. She has helped me become more saavy with online classes, and is very patient. I enjoyed anthropology so much, I am taking her lab in the spring. Her class is easy to understand, graded quickly, and there are a lot of discussions to help understand the topics in great detail. Such an interesting class!!

Took the lab in the Fall. LOVING it, favorite class so far! We get to work in groups, she has some fun study sessions, and a lot of interesting discussions. I learned that we didn't come from monkeys, and just how fascinating genetics is. We learned a lot about ourselves,archaeology,forensics, etc. Fun class, learned so much without realizing it!

Took this class in the Fall, 8 weeks. Prof. Malan is clear, easy to understand, gives good feedback, grades promptly, and clearly enjoys Anthropology and teaching. Each week is new assignments and a chapter quiz. No midterm, final or paper due. Extra credit is available, and late assignments are accepted for lower score.

I am an access student, and I want to leave a review for other students that might also be in access. Ms. Malan is an excellent teacher to take this class from. She is very patient and pleasant, and made the adjustments I requested instantly, and even made some extra adjustments she felt I might benefit from. The class is interesting too.

Had Prof Malan for Winter 2023, class was fast paced but fun, never overwhelming. She gave us good feedback in our grades and was very prompt with grading assignments and returning messages. Class was interesting and fun, relating a lot of stuff to our culture right now. Lots of discussions and a variety of different methods so it wasnt boring.

Taking this teacher for Spring, wanted to give her a little shout out. She has gone the extra mile to help me understand some of the material (genetics) that I was really struggling to understand. She sent me some websites and spent extra time one on one to help. So many online teachers dont do all that, so I wanted to give her a shout out!

Just finished this course, and I have to say, if all VVC classes are like this, I am excited to start there in the Fall! Prof. Malan is such a great teacher. She gave me feedback, has really fun and interesting topics. I will be taking her lab in the Fall. May even major in Anthropology, its such an interesting field! Two thumbs up!

This class has been so interesting, I love that we talk everything from the environment to ghosts! Fun class, very interesting topics, usually watching videos then joining in discussions or filling out assignments. One assignment we had to go through our garbage... It was fun! Highly recommend this teacher and this class!

The only thing I did not like is that nothing in the lectures or ppt was on the test-they was on quizlet. I didn't feel like I learned much because of that. There is one 5 page essay on a documentary where you must observe the gorillas and write about what they do/did. As long as you do all the work, there is no way you will fail.

Loved this class, its easy in that there are a lot of fun videos to watch, lots of discussions, and no midterm or final, just weekly quizzes. Grade scale is easy to understand, instructor is very nice and leaves feedback on assignments.Grades weekly too, which not all the online teachers do. Will also respond after 5pm,even late at night sometimes!

Really fun class to take, lots of discussion posts but they're fairly easy. As long as you turn in assignments when they're due and do good on the quizzes, it's really easy. Also doesn't do a midterm or final and no essays or papers unless you want extra credit.

I chose to drop this vvc class when I was taking it at my high school, the teacher was terrible, and I didn't feel like I was learning anything from him. I am glad I did, Prof. Malan is a wonderful teacher. She grades immediately, the class ran very smooth, she even left me feedback from time to time. I felt like she was always present.

This was one of my favorite classes at VVC so far! Professor Malan was a great teacher, very kind and patient. Learned a lot, I want to take more anthropology classes now, I wish there was a major here for it! No book required, she has handouts and fun labs, at times we were laughing hysterically when learning about center of gravity! Great class!

Took this teacher Spring 2024, she is very friendly and funny, made class a lot of fun. She does offer extra credit you can use in your lecture AND lab class which is cool.
